Best Chair For Reading Books (2024 Updated)

This is not leather! Another Made in China deception/lie. It’s not the main seating in the living room and will hardly ever be used. That’s a good thing since the ‘pleather” is very thin and I’m sure won’t last long.

I recently purchased a brand-new leather high back executive office chair for $200 less than this and the quality is far superior to this chair, and it is genuine leather! The seat is also very shallow and I’m only 5’10 190lbs.

This chair would be very uncomfortable for anyone larger!.

The chair appears to be well built and of good workmanship. However, it is uncomfortable for me. My purpose was to buy a reading chair where I could sit for extended times and simply read. The chair back does not sit fully upright and the seat slops heavily to the back, much like an Adirondack chair.

It may be a great chair to lean back and take a nap but as a sitting and reading chair, it is not comfortable at all, at least for me. I bought this online so I did not have the opportunity to sit in it before purchasing.

If you’re looking for a lounge chair for a younger adult, this may be a good choice. If you’re looking for a nice, comfortable upright chair, this may not be the best choice for you.

I was fortunate enough to be gifted this set at my eldest daughter’s baby shower. I had no idea how important this piece of furniture would become for her. She became a fellow bookworm at 4 years old is so happy proud she’s now teaching her 2 year old to read too.

The seat is a comfortable kick back spot for 1 its still roomy enough for the 2 of them. Im so proud every time I go into their room see the both of them putting their grandfather’s gift to good use.

Sturdy enough to last for many years. This for sure is heirloom quality. Anything that encourages your child to read is beyond worth the money. This gift will keep on giving!.

I don’t understand the 5 star reviews. The cushioning on this chair moves around so much and the cushion on the ottoman portion moves as well. I would NOT buy this again. It’s not for energetic kids who will sit, climb etc on a chair they like.

Also the frame of the chair is all sharp edge so without firm cushioning it feels unsafe.

I purchased this for my 3 yr old grandson and am so pleased and impressed by the quality! There are 8 legs to screw on and your ready to go!! Beautiful piece of furniture with nice cushions that can be removed and cleaned.

I wish it came in adult size!.

this is a lovely chair. i’m an antsy person, so this chair is great and bouncy for me and doesn’t even require as much effort as a rocking chair. for me the biggest drawbacks are that while assembling the last screw through the grommet into the frame the fabric tore, and the cushion is not very substantial which leads to pressure under the lower legs.

i do like the chair. the assembly was fairly easy until that last screw. (other reviewers had the same problem w/ fabric tearing). it is comfortable for the most part. for the price and how nice looking it is, i would recommend it.

i did reach out to walmart about getting a replacement cover and they replied quickly, offering to replace or refund my purchase if i disassembled and returned the whole chair, which was way too much effort.

apparently they do not offer replacement covers. good communication service on their part. just be warned that you may have the same problem.

Super cheap looking. Under the seat that is black, when you look at the chair what pops out is the white linen lining or seat support; cheesy! Sitting in it feels weird too. It’s kind of wrinkled and sewn crooked in highly visible places.

I’m guessing these people bought a batch of “seconds” (imperfect and damaged somehow; blemished) are trying to sell them as new and in nice shape. Mine’s not. Wrong, wrong, wrong! And returning in not pleasant.

So consider seeing before buying a chair like this to avoid a cheap knock off result.

Not the best for a space saving solution nor long term seating solution for me. The design is so sexy and smart but the concept needs to address comfort a bit more. The frame, again so beautiful however there is not enough cushion in the actual seat to avoid the frame from digging into the back of your legs.

I love the gentle bounce I get from the chair when I have my feet elevated against my trunk/coffee table. I am a restless person and often can’t sit very still so the bounce is very subtle but nice. The chair will fit a larger bodied person which is very nice.

to combat the discomfort of the actual seat area, I’ve added a Euro Pillow to sit on. Lastly, I had my first back order and customer service problem with Walmart when purchasing this chair. I did order the Cream with Natural wood finish.

The fabric is much like a soft cotton canvas and reminds me of an painters drop cloth. That is not a negative as I am an artist and love DIY home improvements. Overall it can fit the vibe of more contemporary or unconventional living room styles.

I’m happy, would recommend but would not purchase this chair again for my personal use. Simply not comfortable enough.

Buyer, beware! This product is not defective in any way. except functionally. The biggest issue is that there is only a single mechanism for both functions: reclining the back, and raising the foot rest, and only a single recline position available.

Upright, the back is at a comfortable slant. But if you also want to put your feet up, activating the single mechanism causes the back rest to move into an almost-horizontal position, making it impossible to see a TV across the room because your eyesight is directed at the ceiling.

Trying to look at a TV requires some kind of rear prop, or you will strain your upper back and neck. There was nothing in the product information on the Houzz website to let you know that the back rest and foot rest could not be operated separately, so I can’t say that it was “True to Description”; there was no description.

I also doubt that it is made of real leather, since it is perfectly smooth and shiny, and apparently bonded to a backing. Not really surprised at that, considering the price. Caveat Emptor!.

I ordered two matching chairs, They arrived in perfect condition, packaged well. The color is true to what I saw on the website, as well as the description. They look great, stylish, and are bigger than I expected.

The footrest is small, as pictured. I am putting them in a seasonal cottage, so they will not be getting used every day, not sure how they would hold up under regular use. Happy with the purchase, exactly as described! I have had these for a few years in a cottage, they still look new.

I wanted a chair for my library that wasn’t big and bulky, yet still comfortable. This one hit the mark. It is perfect in my library. The ideal comfy chair to sit and read in. I still love the fact that the legs were hidden inside the furniture.

What a genius idea. Why have I never seen that before? Anyway, I am totally happy with my chair and have zero complaints. Only good things to say. Love it!.

This just arrived today and I can thankfully say it looks exactly like the picture. I really felt like I was taking a chance with this purchase because I have never heard of this company, there aren’t really any reviews and the covering just says “fabric”.

It looked like linen in the picture, and it is! Whenever buying the color “natural” you are always taking a leap. It can be anywhere from taupe to a yellowish beige. This color is exactly what It shown in the pic, taupe.

Light tan with a hint of gray. My walls are the same gray color as shown in the pic so the taupe is very complimentary. The quality is better than expected. Better than Home Decorators, not as good as Pottery Barn.

Maybe around Target quality (which has some surprisingly nice furniture). The chair isn’t super comfy out of the box. It’s a little stuff, but I think it will get more comfy with use. The black chair legs will probably nick fairly easy.

I wouldn’t put this in a high traffic area. I got it as a reading chair for my bedroom. So, I wouldn’t not recommend as a centerpiece high use chair. Just an accent chair. Overall, I would highly recommend this purchase.

The price for a decent 2 piece set is a bargain. One last note, it is a little bit of a low rider. The chair legs are only about 6 inches high, but it has a nice high back. Again, the pic posted with the listing is pretty accurate.

This is a very good chair for the price. I was going to order another chair that was more expensive on this site when I saw this one and I am very pleased with it. The diagram for the legs was a little confusing at first, but my husband finally got it right.

The color is more like a blue-ish grey. Sorry it’s sideways – tried to get pic to flip upright but can’t.

These chairs arrive within 4 days of ordering. No assembly was required and they were packaged very nicely. The color is light blue and quite neutral. The seat is a bit hard but have fit nicely in our family room.

This amazing loveseat is all things traditional and is the star of many selfies and photographs of our living room. Its design and smooth finish remind me of classic furniture portraits with grand chesterfields and its modern twist and finish are awesome.

The cushion padding on the back and the armrests are extra thick and supportive making me feel pampered when I settle on this couch with a remote in hand. We could assemble this very quickly and needed no tools.

I am very pleased with this couch.

I really like the style and color of the set. But that is it. It’s so hard to sit on, and the back of the sofa and love seat is super short, can’t rest your back comfortably. Will try to change inserts of the cushions and got some throw pillows to see if it’s going to be any better.

Definitely don’t recommend buying it, unless you just want to look at it, not use it.

I bought this chair for myself. The color, style and design fit well for the space I had in mind and I really didn’t want to spend a lot of money. Well, my husband took a liking to “my” chair and it was no longer my chair.

and after years of him sitting in it every day for hours as he reads newspaper, magazine and bible – it needs to be replaced so I bought this same exact one again. Color is a nice pink, it reclines, easy to assemble (came with instructions, but I never bothered to look and put it together in less than 30 minutes – comes with it’s own tools).

It’s quite comfortable and easily cleaned by dusting and using a damp cloth.

This child’s reader chair is the larger version of one that we gave as a gift to our grandson as a toddler which has been loved and used daily. This larger version will accommodate him as he grows, still giving him his own seat in the living room, just like the adults.

Glad I made this purchase for my 15 month old’s second Christmas. I bought the orange and there is a nice contrast in color with the arms and body of chair. My son is on the short and chubby side so although he is walking well he topples easily.

I was glad that the chair was so light weight and easy to move around because he loves to push things and he won’t fall over when he pushes this. It is pretty small in height and width so it may not be great for preschoolers but for toddlers it’s perfect.

I also love that the fabric does not absorb moisture right away! My son left his cup on the chair and it spilled but I was able to absorb it with a paper towel before it saturated the chair. It also has a pocket on each side which is great for holding books or hiding toys for a quick game.

Our cat also finds it very comfortable.

I purchased this chair from BBB after chasing it all over the internet for the best price. I’m so glad I did, because when I received it I was very disappointed that the chair ISN’T white. The navy is true, but the white is more like a gray.

The picture is deceiving, as well as the color being listed as “Navy/White”. Also, within 3 days one of the metal accent pins broke off, most likely from something that happened during shipping. The chair works well in our space and does also work with our gray couch, so we will keep it.

It’s not super comfy yet as the cushions are quite firm, but I’m sure it will break in with the kids sitting on it. :).

I just bought two of the green chairs. Online, the green appeared as a light olive green. I chatted with the online help–she confirmed the color. I was very happy to see that they are exactly what I wanted.

They arrived in a few days, are easy to put together (screw in the legs), are a firm seat (which I wanted), and fit the space perfectly. I am very pleased with these chairs. They finish off my living room space with a great look for an extra seating area.

My wife and I are very pleased with our new chair. It fits very nice in the place that we bought it for. The color also goes great with the rest of the room that it is in and it feels very comfortable to sit in.

Just received these and I’m very satisfied with the look, quality and size of these. Got two, one for each of my sons, and they are very soft and sturdy and look nice. Boys say they are comfortable. They are large enough for an adult to sit comfortably and look like they will last a while.

Worth the price.

It is so comfortable and made well. It gives me enough back support that I have been looking for. The price was great and shipment was right on target!

Purchased 2 packs (4 chairs) and they were delivered within a few days. Yay! Somewhat easy to put together, but once I did, all 4 have some bit of wobble when sitting on the floor. Hopefully this will work itself out over time as folks sit in them.

Love the chairs!!!. We ordered 2 sets. Unfortunately 2 of the chairs had defective legs so we did a return and replacement. The replacements took longer than anticipated. After my husband put the new set together , they were perfect !!! The chairs are comfortable and the color are true to what you see on the site.

I love the chair. definitely worth the money. Super sturdy and will definitely stand the test of time. It was a tricky to figure out the legs but once that was done, fantastic. Word of caution check dimensions against doorways.

It took a little work to get into my bedroom.
