They bite AND sting! Awful pain and swelling, Got this product and sprinkled it like the directions say, wet it lightly and voila! No more fire ant problems! Whew! A few days later we saw another hill starting so we treated it and nary a bite! Wish we had this when I was a kid! We haven’t seen anymore ants for a few weeks but I am confident that if I do, I now have it covered! Be careful not to oversaturate, this stuff isn’t safe per se, but it made my yard safer for me and my ducklings.

Spectracide Fire Ant Shield Mound Destroyer Granules are very forgiving if the person using it makes a mistake. I am on a 150-acres of animal pastures, hay fields, and some woodland. We have ant mounds appearing overnight in the pastures, along the driveway, hidden in grass meant for hay, around fence pots, fruit trees, and berry plants.

I never follow the directions; so, I guess you could say I use it off-label. When I discover an ant mound or see ants running up.

Recieved it Sunday at 3:36, sprinkled it dry on the ant hill at 4:30, and by 5:22 they were in a pile dead. I will say, i didnt use water, and when i poured it ontop i mixed it up with a stick to irritate the colony.

This is the absolute best fire ant killer period! I’ve tried so many other brands, even the liquid version of their standard ant killer and it never did much of anything. You don’t need to see mounds to use it and you don’t have to have a fire ant problem specifically to get rid of your bug problem.

As a matter of fact, this product works on tons of different crawling insects and it works literally instantly! The minute the poison touches the bug, they have a seizure and curl up and die. They do NOT have to eat it or carry it back, it literally kills in seconds.

I have used it indoors and outdoors. If I see ants around the toilet base for instance, I spread a little of this poison around it and have absolutely no issues with ants anymore. It doesn’t have an extremely powerful smell and it’s totally safe.

Every year we get several ant mounds that pop up on the far side of our house. My little one has started to venture towards that side and we decided that we finally have to do something about the hills because the sting from those ants can be dangerous.

Well, after applying the granules and water, the ants were gone the very next day! We will still continue to keep an eye on the area, but so far so good!.

Works great but don’t put it too close to plants as it killed some of mine. Had ants eating away at my corn and this got rid of the ants but killed several of the plants. Next time I will be more careful.

This stuff really does work great and it wasn’t even $5 for this big bag. I highly recommend it.

It appears to work! I had ants I determined were visiting from outside. I did my best to plug what I thought was the entry area and put Four stakes down across it. I also used solid bait in round tins inside where we saw mos of the ants by far…others were making their ways to or from that area.

The ant problem immediately became significantly less and for three days we saw a few who seemed to be sluggish. We killed those despite advice not too. There were enough ants and bait to know it was getting back to the nest.

We’ve been ant free and happier for a month now. So it and the dolid traps inside definitely worked. I assume both did! It was an aggressive attack on my part.

The jury is out on effectiveness. I like the size, design, and concept, but putting these to use is a nightmare. I put four in the ground the day they arrived, and almost regretted buying them. The plastic safety tab the instructions tells you to twist and snap off is EXTREMELY difficult to separate from the body of the trap.

I resorted to using pliers, and still had a very difficult time “snapping off” the plastic tab. Twisting hard enough to break the tab actually opened the side of the bait enclosure. I had to grip the body of the bait firmly with one hand and twist and twist and TWIST with the pliers in order to break the tab and open the access to the bait.

I plan to use them all, figuring anything so securely “safetied” must contain a potent toxin, but for the remaining baits I will wear protective clothing and eye protection, and snip the plastic tab with pruning shears to open the bait.

I ordered the little clear plastic liquid ant bait rectangles, but rec’d the Terro stakes instead. There are times when these stakes might be a better form (maybe in a houseplant), but the ants seem to have a hard time figuring out where to go.

I had to shake some liquid out (not easy to do) to feed on. At least, it doesn’t leak or spill easily. Getting the tab off is not consistently successful or always easy. Had to use sharp scissors half the time.

The green plastic is thick (not Earth-friendly). This liquid product itself has always worked for me to abolish various types of ants (CA Bay Area) at the unseen source.

I’ve been told by several people in the know that the best way to get rid of fire ants is using an ant bait. In the South, these little buggers are everywhere. This bait met our expectations! Don’t be alarmed if, at first, you see more ants around the bait.

That just means it’s doing its job. It’s even written in the instructions to not worry about that. Everything was fine and we’re really happy with the results of us using this bait – they’re gone!!.

I purchased this to get rid of a pretty big ant colony in the yard. I followed the directions and have used it several times over the course of many months. After I sprinkled it I watched the ants and I would see them pick up the granules.

I was pleased that they were actually picking it up but today, I paid closer attention. Yes, the ants were picking up the granules, but what they were actually doing is moving the granules away from the ant hill.

They would pick up the granules, walk away from the ant hill, put the granules down, then go back to the ant hill. They weren’t taking the poison back to the rest of the colony. No wonder the stupid colony is still around after months of using this stuff.

And the colony seems to only have gotten bigger. What a joke this stuff is and what a waste of time and money. I would give this stuff no stars if I could.

I’ve used this product for 10 years. I’m in Wisconsin and if I apply it in May I never get ants in my house. If I forget, or it’s out of stock when I need it, by or early or mid-June I will have ants.

Nothing to worry about though because within a few days of applying it outside that situation is resolved. I’ve never needed to use any bug or ant prevention inside my home when I use this product outside, and that’s fantastic since I have a dog who likes to get into everything.

These work incredibly well – ants are definitely attracted to the bait. We have a ton of ants out back as we back to open space but they were finding their way into our house so I had to start using these close to the structure.

Placed them at their trails and within a short time they were streaming in and out of the bait box. A couple of days later, and in some cases less, the bait was completely gone. I definitely notice less ants in those areas and some trails completely gone however still plenty of ants I’ll need to steer away from the home.

As long as they’re not invading my space I can let them be. My only complaint is that the plastic tab is very hard to break off to open the bait. The directions make it seem like a simple tear off, however you really need to bend the plastic back and forth for a couple of minutes and really rip it off using a good grip.

In some cases it doesn’t make a proper hole when torn off and I needed to wedge it open a bit. Or you could probably use scissors. Also the second box that I ordered (because the first ones were gone SO fast), one of the baits leaked all over the inside of the box and the other stakes so that was a bit of a mess.

Overall, this product works and I will repurchase if needed.

Working well. Ant numbers are decreasing. Being staked in the ground, they don’t get moved around by whatever comes sniffing and rooting around at night like ones that just rest on the ground. Haven’t had to replace bait with refills yet but will do so when it’s needed.

They are a bit hard to open and despite trying to be cautious I cut a finger on the plastic while twisting it open < 5* for that.

I have been using this for a couple of years and I’m on my 4th bottle. It’s safe around my kids and dogs and gets rid of the ants immediately. It does have a very strong smell, but I will usually try to spray before we are heading out for the day so that the smell has dissipated by the time we return.

This ant spray is exceptional! I had ants constantly coming through my balcony door for about a week. I was continuously vacuuming them. When the repellant arrived it took just one treatment and all ants were gone gone gone.

I noticed the price has increased by $3 in the last week. Totally worth it!.

Excellent product and very effective. The downside is you must apply it into a good-sized hole on the mound and apply lots of water to get it down to where the ants have their farms. There is never just one access hole, so look around for at least one more as the colonies are very large underground.

The reason for the two star rating is that I have not been able to reduce the amount of clover mites coming in thru my windows. I have a pest control guy come in since 2015 and he helps some – never able to make the mites stay away.

Didn’t see a big result. Clover mites kept coming. I wouldn’t try this again for that issue or I’d look to buy for a cheaper price locally. It’s possible it helped but not definitive.

when dealing with an infestation of insects of any kind, it truly wears on one’s sanity. I dealt with spiders & fleas. Your product combined with D. E. rid my home of fleas. This is the 1st time in more than 30+ years there’s not been a flea problem here.

(The home I have, is my childhood vacation spot with my grandfather. Though I LOVED visiting him, I hated the fleas loved it too. I was their long lost love! REALLY!! I got attacked shortly after arriving an went home each visit with multiple bites.

Not as much as I should, but it’s so breezy here, often. I have found myself wearing it more than the shrubbery. At least I know after being dosed, insect life find me non appealing. Kudo’s for me! I like it, though, when I can get it on the ground.

Love the ease and effectiveness of the flea and tick yard and garden spray. It hooks up easily to hose,smells and works great. My dogs love to lay in the grass. and occasionally will eat it when they have stomach issues.

I just can’t see using anything that is toxic knowing this. Have recommended it to friends and family. I also use the Home and Garden Insect Control for ants both inside and outside the home. Again, safe, smells great and works without dangerous pesticides on home surfaces and garden.

OH! and I LOVE the exfoliating soap for me! Especially after a long day at work and in the garden. Removes the sweat and grime and leaves skin feeling wonderful! Long time and future customer! : D.

When I visited my little place in SC and sat on the front porch, my ankles were ate up with fleas within seconds. I quickly grabbed the hose, attached the Wondercide dispenser and sprayed the entire front porch – over, under and around.

When I went back to check it out 2 hours later, there was not even one flea. Honestly, I didn’t expect it to work that well! I have 5 dogs and we’ve had quite a flea problem this year (we’ve used Advantage, Advantix and Frontline, all with no success), so I’ve also been putting a few tablespoons in the mop water and using it to mop all the floors.

It doesn’t work as dramatically as it did outside because the dogs keep picking up more fleas on our walks, and the fleas lay eggs and on and on, but slowly we’ve had much fewer and the place smells great! It’s also gentle and safe enough to mix with water and spray the carpets and furniture even.

There is nothing else that matches this stuff. The granules that you put on the mound and add water toxify the mound and the ants move. The powder that smells like a gas leak dos the same thing. This bait, with a minimal application, kills the queen (since she eats first) and the whole colony dies afterward, taking about 3 days.

It is incredible to watch. For the love of all that is good though, READ the directions for applying this stuff. DO NOT broadcast spread it like that other reviewer mentions. That is how it gets banned (see the list of states you cannot buy it in).

It is not meant to control fire ants and warns you specifically to NOT DO THIS. You apply this on mounds and it kills them. You need other products to control them or else you risk poisoning all the water in your area with runoff.

To apply this bait, you can shake it around the mound, or do the more satisfying option of kicking the mound and squeezing the container a couple of times to “puff” the bait out directly onto the ants.

You do not need much. Then just wait for them all to die.

I bought this specifically to kill the Spotted Lanterfly in my maple tree because Ortho’s website claimed it killed them on contact when used per the package directions. Unfortunately, even when used exactly as directed it did nothing.

They paused as they were covered in spray and then just kept on going. No change, no death, nothing. I’m sure it works on other insects but it didn’t work for this annoying invasive species.

In North Florida we have insects year around, and in the spring they definitely become more of a problem. Misquotes are a serious problem now, as well as insects on my citrus trees. This product seems to work on killing BOTH, so I don’t have to buy these products separately, as well as lawn pests like lawn moths and sod web worms.

I have applied it once and notice no misquotes on my screen porch where they usually land. It will also kill fleas and ticks which are a constant pest for my out door cats. Seems like the ideal all around insecticide that is easy to apply with an Ortho lawn sprayer.

(I’m waiting for the bees to finish pollinating my citrus tree flowers before spraying them just to be careful with the the little guys 🙂 Then I hope it will keep scale and leaf curl off these trees as well.

IšverstiShow in original languageWhen I first moved into my Dad’s house he had all kinds of bugs- small roaches, an ant infestation, earwigs, spiders, and springtails. I pushed him and protested against his indifference- I wanted to call an exterminator, but he’s a huge DIY guy (almost to a fault), and we finally compromised with buying insecticide so we could do it on our own.

I’m really and truly glad we did it ourselves; I was able to control when and where the poison was applied- how much of it I wanted to use, what concentration I wanted to use, etc. It took a couple weeks or so but afterwards the house was bug-free, a minor trail of ants came again after a while (read: it’s a brand new house and doesn’t have any foundational damage- just really wild weather here that makes bugs want to come in)- but I treated again and since then there hasn’t been nearly a single bug.

Once in a while I’ll find the odd ant or springtail- but nothing that scares me silly, like roaches. This stuff is seriously wicked good. I used it when I had my dog too- didn’t bother him at all- I just kept him away from the poison in a different room for 30min till it dried.

It’s so effective my dad was actually impressed- he’s not one to be worried about bugs so he could generally care less, but he said he was surprised at how effective it was. I use it with a chemically resistant spray bottle with gloves and a painter’s mask.

It doesn’t have any smell though which is great- just be wary of the chemicals. I like to ‘nuke the house’ (as my dad puts it), and use a 2oz concentration whenever I apply it but I make sure to wear proper safety gear.

It only needs to be applied every 3mo or so- when the season changes usually- at least here in crazy weather Texas. With this stuff I can keep our house, my mom’s house, and all my future houses, bug free all by myself now! Just mix the stuff up in a spray bottle/pump, put on some gloves and a mask, move any animals to a different room, and spray away! This stuff is also rain-proof (it lasts through about 3 heavy rains outside), and once dry I was assured that it’s okay for animals to be around- and even lick if they do it on accident (like if you spray near a plant outside and they try to eat the plant).

Also: do not store mixed, it will become inert after 24 hours or so, it must be mixed fresh.

IšverstiShow in original languageI have a cranberry moth/worm issue that killed by grass. In researching that to do, I came across the Solutions Pest and Lawn website. Their description of my issue and the solution they offered seemed to fit my particular problem.

I ordered both the Bifen LP granules and Reclaim I/T. I applied both using a 2 step process. Within 24 hours I noticed the worms were dead and the moth activity was almost non existent. I am very pleased with the results and can now get my lawn back to normal.

Both are great products! The instructions are easy to follow and the results did not disappoint! I’ll use Solutions Pest and Lawn products with confidence and have been sharing the story with my neighbors.

Last year I had a problem with pharaoh ants in one of my kitchen cupboards. I ended up finding out how they were getting in, and blocked up the entry way. Problem solved. Or so I thought. They ended up coming back again this year, with a vengeance.

I did speak with a pest control specialist, and he told me that pharaoh ants are notoriously difficult to get rid of, but that I should try the bait and wait 5-7 days to see how it works before engaging him.

I am happy to say that it has been less than 48 hours since I first set out the bait, and it appears to be working beautifully. I did end up pouring some of it onto a sheet of paper, to ensure that the ants could access it.

(I was concerned that they wouldn’t be able to find the entry way to the liquid, as it is off the surface of the cupboard. ) Once they found the bait, they went on a feeding frenzy. Two days in, and I am down to about 5 ants milling about.

This is a HUGE improvement from the dozens I was seeing two days ago! If I can offer one piece of advice. trust the process. It is alarming to see the bait attracting even more ants when you first set it out, but this means its working! Resist the urge to move it or interfere in anyway, I promise you will see progress within a matter of hours!.

As the weather warmed up, we started seeing a few tiny black ants on our kitchen counter every day. I couldn’t tell where the ants were coming from. I dealt with them by squashing them. One day, though, there were about 20 ants, so I decided to get serious.

I ordered the Terro Liquid Ant Baits which arrived in a few days. I put one out on the counter, but didn’t see much ant traffic. Next day I put two more on the floor below the counter. Within a few hours I had a continuous stream of ants coming from a crack in the frame of a nearby door.

It was like something out of a nature documentary. I half expected Sir David Attenborough to show up and start narrating. The ants were all heading for the baits, crawling all over and into them. I was afraid I had just made matters worse.

Would I be overrun by ants demanding food? However, the next day the ants were gone, except for a few that died in the traps. That was five days ago, and I haven’t seen a single ant since. If they show up again, I’ll know what to do.

There are pluses and minuses with this product. It seems to be working so far (3 days now) and it’s a lot easier to apply. Just shaking some dust on the mound is a much better option compared to broadcasting granules across your entire lawn (which, btw also didn’t work for me).

However, the container says there’s enough to use on 75 mounds, there’s no way that’s true. The dust is similar to baby powder which is very light, but since the container is as light as a feather and I ended up using the whole thing on only 7 mounds, I have a hard time believing there’s really 12 oz in there.

The directions say to sprinkle 1 tsp on top of each mound but that’s not enough for a fire ant mound, they’re too big and deep and you also have to treat around the mound or they’ll just build somewhere else.

A few weeks ago I started out with 7 big mounds. Everything I’ve used since then killed the mounds but then 1 or 2 days later I would find new ones, they had just moved over a few feet. This product does seem to work so far, however I used more than 1 tsp AND I sprinkled a little around the mounds, so I don’t know how effective it really is when using the recommended amount.

I ended up using the whole container on 7 fire ant mounds and a handful of sidewalk and driveway ants. It’s been 3 days and the mounds are dead and I haven’t seen any new ones, fingers crossed. I gave it 3 stars because I feel the advertising is misleading and you need to use more product than is stated.

This means it doesn’t last very long and this stuff is expensive for the small amount you get, however if it gets rid of my fire ants and I only have to deal with them a couple of times a year I would definitely buy it again.

Do not believe anyone who rates Bengal fire ant powder low; I live in SC and fight fire ants constantly. The ONLY poison that effectively works effectively is BENGAL fire ant poison. It kills w/in a day if applied correctly.

JS 685 is a must have and was introduced to me by my plumber. It is developed specially to prevent the destruction fire ants cause to outside sensitive electrical equipment, like compressors, relays, electric motors, etc.

This kills fire ants multiple ways for seven months if left undisturbed. In the country I use every four months or as needed. A 13 oz can costs $25, less than a service call on your air conditioner, outdoor pumps and other electrical devices.

I have used this product and it has saved me hundreds of dollars on service calls and outdoor parts. Terro T1700 is a good brand to use around the farm house porch, before company arrives from the city.

I use a 3 prong system against spiders- b/c I HATE them. HATE. So I have these glue trap things everywhere (under furniture, in closets, under beds, etc), & we use Ortho Home Defense every other MONTH inside and outside along like the baseboards, window & door frames, under/behind appliances – you get the idea.

I don’t mess around. BUT, even with all that I have come across 3 Black Widows outdoors in the last five years; not RIGHT outside but still, in our outdoor area. All 3 times I ran & got the Ortho H. D.

spray AND this trusty orange can. And thank goodness I did, b/c all three times the Ortho just made them come AT ME (no joke), but coating them in this spray KILLED THEM DEAD WITHIN A COUPLE OF MINUTES!!! Plus, it stopped their charge at me within seconds, keeping me safe while I coated them in this spray.

Don’t get me wrong – I love Ortho, & it probably would’ve killed them eventually- but they might have made it to me to bite first. I ALWAYS keep 2 cans of this stuff ready to go in the house, & for an “instant” spider kill, you can’t beat it.

But it is isn’t like a stream spray, so you have to get close; & don’t spray it above you without something to protect your face from some of it misting back down on you. Also, it’s stupid but I have to put a big piece of duct tape over it as soon as we buy it- to cover the GIANT SPIDER on the can! Why put the very thing I’m terrified of & trying to kill with your product in GIANT size ON the product? For Pete’s sake Mr.

Manufacturer, think about changing that please.

This Terri spray works so freakin’ good. I spray this outside my window, around the outer park of my widow ledge. Use it all around. N in my bathrm window. Sometimes spiders, would come in from outside the plant, next to my window.

I would find like 3-4 spiders wk. Lil small ones. But not nemore!! This kills spiders super fast. No joke. N I’ve killed black widows outside. I’m always spraying outside, cuz all the plants my mom has outside.

Kills ants, roaches, n spiders. Kills other insects too. But if u have any problems, with ants or spiders. Even roaches, this spray works wonders. Ever since I’ve bought it, I have bought many times again.

Doesn’t withstand harsh S. Florida heat. Eager to use when it arrived, power cleaned my trash bin 2 days prior its arrival, stuck it on the lid as shown in example, and pressed on for 5 mins to make sure adhesion was made.

It is very small, about the size of a bluetooth earphone charging box. The next afternoon, as i was throwing away trash, i notice the little black box missing, it was at thebottom of the bin. So i Elmer glued it, leaving the lid open horizon level for a good 2 hours.

Two days later, after trash pickup, it was gone. I installed a new one with crazy glue this time. That next monday, it was gone. That week, the average temp in S. Fl was 94-98 deg, hot but not the hottest i’ve seen around here.

It helps clear out the ants, wandering ants we constantly have. The only thing is that for the first day or so you will have a TON of ants walking to this trap. So I hide it in discrete areas like behind the toilet, on the side of the fridge so we don’t really see them or worry about it.

After, for a couple days we have no ant problem. But you have to constantly be changing it and going thru the same thing. Also if you happen to spill or ants spill some of the product, it’s thick and sticky so cleaning the spot is a little annoying.

Also I think the price went up or stayed the same but the size and amount of product per trap decreased a lot.

This stuff is amazing. I spray once a month lightly to keep up after initial thorough spraying. I problems with black widows, terrestrial Asian cockroaches and mosquitoes. This stuff takes care of them and more.

I’m definitely a repeat customer. I’m gonna try the lawn granules next.

Wisdom solved our millipede problem last summer. It also worked to keep other crawling insects and spiders from finding their way inside the house. I will continue to apply it every 3 or 4 months.
