20 Best 3 Inch Lift Kit For Jeep Jk (2023 Updated)

Bought the lift kit so I could go back to my favorite place in Colorado. the lift kit was easy to install and took about 2-3 hours. The hardest part was making sure that all your brake lines on the rear axle will handle the added lift.

, but I didn’t have to do anything. highly recommend getting the alignment done. Took it off roading and it did absolutely amazing. With stock shocks is actually helps with the shocks because they are compressed more so your ride is a little rougher but amazing off the street and on the street.

Kit is great but I would have prefered to know some stuff so thats why I am writing down this review. You WILL need to cut some parts of the rear frame/diff AND you WILL need a welder. This kits stretchs the rear only of 3 inches wich brings the rear diff really far behind.

You will need to make new holes for the bolts of the rear sway bar 3 inches back and there is no room for the sway bar when pushed back. You WILL need to relocated or replace exhaust. Front end is pretty easy to install but the rear end is a nightmare.

Also, you will need a new driveshaft since it stretch the back end only. Your rear wheels will also look very “uncentered” in the rear well. Make sure you have the skills to install this kit before tearing down the jeep like I did at home before knowing it would have been that complicated.

Other than that, parts look like they are great quality. I had to buy extra zerks as some were missing.

This kit was semi easy to put on, would have liked the instructions to be a little more detailed. Once we got it figured out it totally made sense. When listing tools needed, they left out a very important tool a “spring coil compressor”, that is a must if you want an easy install.

So far everything looks good and feels good, and the look is much improved with 3” added. Would purchase this kit again. I put that it took us a full day, because we had never put on a lift before, and also we could have used one more jack and for sure the spring coil compressor.

Other than that it would have probably just filled up an afternoon.

I put 2 1/2 inch front leveling kid on a 2021 Gladiator and the rear end was a little low. This easy inexpensive kit was the answer. A pretty easy install with no other modifications needed.

Not much to say about a leveling kit. The material looks strong and could last for a long time. Extreme Terrain never fails me on all around experience with their service.

Purchased in December 2021. Having installed a different 3. 25″ Rough Country suspension lift on a 1997 Jeep TJ during a frame swap rebuild, and having enjoyed the quality of that lift, I opted to go with the 3.

5″ Rough Country suspension lift for our 2012 Jeep JKU as a gift for my wife, who is the principle driver of “Spike”, her JKU. First off, I was appreciative of the quality of the lift kit and its design and engineering.

Rough Country had seemed to be a more budget-friendly company early in its life, but has seemed to have really focused on quality and engineering. Thumbs up Rough Country! The install, (completed by my son and I in our driveway during a cold New England December), went pretty smooth, though it took much longer than listed in the directions.

(We took our time to make sure we did it right). The hardest part was getting the stock pitman arm off, which we ended up cutting with a cutting wheel. The suspension install was pretty straightforward, and the directions pretty concise.

There are a few videos circulating on this lift install on JKU’s, so there was always a reference to go by as a guide. The Rough Country website suggested buying the exhaust adapter kit, which I did.

We found that this was not required on ‘Spike’. Just after install, the lift was just over 5″ in height, and it took about a month+ to settle fully to just about 4″ of lift. The first test drive went fine, but on the second tour of our neighborhood, ‘Spike’ went into limp mode.

I was pretty certain that this was a clock-spring issue, and the next day I took it in for a 4-wheel alignment and this corrected it. No more limp-mode issues at all. The ride is actually better than the stock ride, with more spring travel evening out harsh jarring bumps.

My wife, son, and I are very impressed with this lift kit!.

First off, I purchased this for a 2010 Jeep Wrangler Sport Unlimited or jku. I’m only giving this a 4 star due to the instructions not being the greatest. For starters, the list of tools required is missing a couple things like the drill bits needed but later in the instructions says you need a 13/32 and a 3/8.

A couple other things weren’t very clear. I ended up with 4 thick washers and a 3/8 bolt left over. I ended up using the washers to drop the crossmember a little so the front driveshaft wouldn’t hit it at full drop.

As far as the installation time 4-6 hours is pretty funny. I didn’t have any issues and it took me roughly 6 hours just for the rear on my back in the driveway, probably 6 or so for the front. There isn’t much to this kit but had I brought it to the shop and used the lift, it’s possible it would’ve take 4-6 but the average joe in the backyard with a basic tool kit and jack stands and jack laying on their back, count on 8-10 minimum.

I’m far from a novice mechanic and as close to expert as you can be without a degree. Anyways, you really can’t beat this kit for the price. I paid over $3000 for a 6″ Fabtech lift for my H2 and that took me 16 hours by myself using a lift and it was recommended 2 professional mechanics with an 8 hour installation time so to me I did just as good.

There was no issue with clearance of the factory front driveshaft and tranny pan or exhaust clearance issue just like they say on this site for that year. It does handle a little weird even after the alignment and 35’s put on my my girlfriend doesn’t mind it.

Seems like it might be like an awkward rocking. You won’t beat the price for this lift though so get it now before the prices go up. lol.

I bought this based on the reviews on Rough Countrys website, not eBays. The install was fairly straightforward. The trouble I had was a result of rusty and corroded hardware on my Jeep and not with the equipment supplied by rough country.

To be upfront I did have one of the installation hardware packets missing but rough countrys customer service was excellent and corrected the problem quickly and satisfactorily. The kit seems to be of good quality construction.

The components all fit perfectly, just as they were intended. I took my time and it took me quite a bit longer to install then the estimated 4-6 hours, but again that was due to rusty nuts and bolts.

The only complaint that I really had was the online instructions couldve been a little better in my opinion but extremeterrain. com has an excellent tutorial video on YouTube (https://youtu. be/bF3Bi_A-QXk) showing the complete installation from beginning to end.

follow the instructions and make sure you have an alignment done when you are finished. I would recommend this lift kit to a friend.

I have had this lift on for 11 months now. The lift looks great and performs great! At Jeep Beach in Daytona, the Metalcloak trailer registered it at a 780 score. I put this in the mudd pretty regular.

Installed it in the driveway. you tube videos help. The pics in the instructions that come with it do not help very much. You need to keep up on greasing the control arms and tightening the sway bar bolts both front and back.

Make sure you get a REALLY good technician to do the alignment. Just go ahead and get the front driveshaft for better articulation clearance. After shopping for months, I went with this ‘whole package’ lift and am happy with my decision.

Rough Country did this one right for the price.

I’ve been very impressed with the lift’s characteristics. Since it appears that it was built well (. and, because I’m borderline OCD) I REALLY made sure to to dry fit and walk through the instructions before I started.

As who sees the , I STRONGLY SUGGEST READING THROUGH THE MANUAL A COUPLE times before you begin. But a pretty basic tool kit will get it done. My only actual complaint with the product itself are a couple small pieces of metal, both for the front end, that also has a smaller hole on the inside (Think: small square donut).

Those must be placed through a hole in the frame, one on each side and (dont’t worry, the holes are already there. ). trying to move only the front end forward or back and up or down is about as mess as a soup sandwich.

Aside from that one small problem, I’ve kept an eye on them (for a about a year now) and I don’t see any real heavy wear or red flags about potential breakdown areas. I, of course, chose to tackle the project on a rainy day about 40 degrees.

So my install probably took quite a bit longer to install.

I own a two door 2017 JK Sport. The relocation bracket that keeps the vehicles symmetry in line did not fit. Fortunately I am a welder and rather than wait a week I simply cut it in half, bent it to the correct shape and welded it back together together.

If you are having someone else do the install, or you are capable of doing what I did do not hesitate to buy this lift! Make sure you have a good welder three jacks and a come-along if you have a late model sport JK though.

This is an honest review, not a bad review. I absolutely love this lift. The ride is actually better on the highway than it was before I installed this lift. I needed to replace my shocks. For a weekend project it was a good time.

I enjoy working on my Jeep. I do not off-road so I can not say how it performs on trails. Absolutely impressed since this is a 400$ lift. If that sounds like a lot I assure you it is dirt cheap for four springs and four shocks.

If you are looking for a lift to level out your jeep, this is not the lift you want. This lift will maintain the factory specs and raise your jeep 3 inches, so you will still have the slight forward lean.

This was a manufacturer (Zone Offroad) design characteristic to maintain OEM specs. Although I would have liked it leveled out, I decided to go with this lift for the quality, and the awesome warrantee.

Allegedly, Zone Offroad will also go to bat for you if your dealer gives you any grief regarding OEM warrantee work. I would suggest going to their website to see what its all about. The lift was easy to install and the directions were pretty self-explanatory.

A few things to be aware of when installing: The passenger side upper shock bolt location is difficult to get to, especially when putting on the new shocks. You may have/want to cut the plastic above the nut location for some extra room to work, because it is super tight in that area.

You will also need wheel spacers if you are putting back on the stock wheels. You will also probably want some sort of exhaust spacer kit to avoid front drive shaft clearance problems. I would also suggest some type of geometry correcting brackets for better drivability.

After the install, in noticed a few little quirks. As I mentioned earlier, the front end isn’t quite leveled out and has a slight forward lean. There has been some driveline noise when turning, even though I have re-checked tightness on all bolts/nuts.

This could be due to the overall geometry of the entire suspension system being changed and moved. The front wheels are slightly shifted to the left (The left-front wheel pokes out slightly further than the right-front).

An adjustable track bar will fix this problem. The lift also does not come with a lengthened pitman arm, which I would suggest looking into getting due to the height of the lift. Also, the pictured product is not the product you will receive.

Zone Offroad re-designed their springs and they do not look like the pictured product. Overall, I am happy with the lift and I think it looks good. The ride quality is a bit stiffer now and everything feels really solid.

For the quality, I believe the price is awesome, especially when you probably should add a few more components. Quality control from Zone Offroad and their tech support is great, and will help you throughout the install process if you have any questions, or get stumped during the install.

Expect a full day install if you are doing it by yourself with only a jack, jackstands, and just hand tools.

I bought this kit 5 years ago I was just starting out, learning about jeeps and what makes them tick. As a 16y/o kid I didn’t realize what I was getting myself into. this was the first lift I ever installed.

Don’t get me wrong the kit is stout never had a problem with any of the parts in the kit itself. But what they don’t tell you when installing this kit is that your rear pinion angle is way to extreme for a stock driveshaft (vibrates a lot), you have no control of the caster or the centering of your front end besides the little alignment cams that come factory on the TJ and they like to loosen up and move even when torqued to spec, And the hole you have to drill in your trackbar bracket to reuse the stock trackbar is a great band aid if your just starting out but it could be done with a lot less frustration if you were to just buy an adjustable trackbar when you first got the kit.

The jeep with this kit installed seemed to be a handful while driving it. All in all id say you get what you pay for this is a great gateway into the lifted jeep community. and the price is reasonable but when ordering I’d recommend ordering ( front and rear adjustable trackbars, axle centering cams, and a SYE+CV driveshaft kit).

I bought this kit for my 2022 jeep gladiator and I couldn’t say enough good things about this lift! I upgraded to the Fox shocks and it was super easy to install, the hardest part was putting the bushings into the shocks lol everything else was a breeze! My gladiator drives just as good as stock if not a little better! This lift will clear 20×12 wheels with 37×12.

50s without trimming anything.

Make sure you have a couple floor jacks, jack stands and large heavy clamps or spring compressors if you’re planning to do this in your garage. With the correct hand tools and a safe way to raise and lower the vehicle and axles while compressing the stock springs, (without air tools) it’s a 4-hour job.

Take the time to watch the ET install tutorial, and read the included instructions as well as a few of the customer reviews. They do have a few helpful hints. It lifted my stock Sahara JK enough to comfortably stuff 35’s under the stock fender flares.

This is a nice and easy lift. I wasn’t sure what size lift to put in my Jeep so I tried this for a model. I will be installing a full lift in shortly. I could not be happier with the ease, price and results of this product.

Got them and held off on install for about 4 months. That was a huge mistake. This is a lift that makes a profound difference in trail performance. The ease of installation was definitely an added plus.

If your going from stock to these your trail horizons will definitely raise from easy to moderate and some hard trails.

The lift looks good. I had to use a finder on the front of my Jeep J-20. the mount brackets are welded to the frame. I tried to press them a 8th of a inch wider to get the new springs in the brackets, but it would not open a 8th.

Where the rubber bushings go I took a. 16th. Of a inch off each side and they slid right in. Other than a little modification on it, it worked great. I put the lift on by myself in less than a day even with the notification.

But I had already had the factory set up taken off while waiting on the lift to come in. The new lift was the same side as my old springs. The mounting brackets had bent inward some with tightening of the old springs over time it’s something very common.

It’s nothing to do with Rough Country. Very satisfied with the 3″ Lift.

The lift kit states it will raise the vehicle 3 inches. It raised it at least 5 inches and threw off the track bars. I was told the vehicle will settle and I may be able to put the track bars (front and back) back in.

Also the instructions are so far off they reference a picture that doesn’t exist. I spoke to Chip who felt it was a good time to argue about what U bolts my car had Va what was sent and the rest of the support staff was less than interested hearing any issues.

If you have replaced springs and shocks before you’re probably ok. If your new I wouldn’t waste my time. I’d go someplace else.

There are a number of things that rough country could do better! The products are fine the quality seems good, but there was absolutely no instructions with this lift kit. I know people these days do their own thing, but I’m old school.

Obviously the research has been done. Let me know that my brake lines are going to be a problem. Let me know that my sway bar is going to be an issue! And why were the wedges on my rear springs installed backwards! I figured they were facing that way because rough country knew something that I was unaware of.

But my driveline vibration made me aware that some factory worker just doesn’t know his stuff! Then after installing I have one rear corner that doesn’t seem lifted at all! Like 2 inches different side to side.

this whole process has been frustrating!.

The lift went in as it should but when it came to the 6 speed transmission shifter that’s where it all went south their shifter extension only made things worse could not get 2,4,6,or reverse it hit the floor pan needed another two inches to clear after an hour and half of cursing i through their POS in the scrap bin and pulled the shift tower and heated the shift shaft bent it straight up to solve the issue.

ROUGH COUNTRY YOU CAN DO A BETTER JOB THAN THAT HIRE A REAL ENGINEER! Not my first rodeo. Signed. A millwright of 50 years.

Bought this to replace my 17 year old stock mounts. I love that it gave me another inch of lift as my 35’s look so much better under there now. Instructions were really good. EXCEPT they don’t tell you what to torque the bolts too.

They just list what the max torque is for the bolt diameter. I already installed 1 inch lift motor mounts and everything lined up good. It rides like a it should now. I HIGHLY recommend this kit to anyone!!!.

This body lift looks great. We really didn’t need anymore lift than our JL already has, but why not? Myself and the wife threw this on our JL with out already installed Mopar 2 inch lift to give us a total of 3.

25” of lift. We already have 35’s but now we have even more clearance to get over most obstacles and rougher terrain.

Instructions were not that great if I hadn’t already installed another ST3 kit it would of bean a little harder and the Instructions were for the CT kit I had parts that were not even on the Instructions but it was close enough to get the job done with a little research.

I installed it on the garage floor with no torch or plasma so it is possible just takes longer. After the I stall the kit is amazing I can put the tire 42 inches in the air before another tire comes up.

Ride is great. Looks aggressive as anything out there. I was missing a couple bushings for the front axle I contacted Teraflex and they fixed it with no hassle or charge at all. Very happy with my time nothing but a big smile everytime I look at my jeep now.

Awesome kit, rad build quality, pain in the ass to install. The instructions were not very understandable. The Teraflex guy we talked to said he didn’t need the instructions. So that didn’t help us in figuring out how to do it.

it took us about 2 weeks to get it fully built & aligned etc. All in all, great kit. cannot complain to much. on ride is very rough too, roughly 16″+ of drop travel. Keep in mind, It does like to body roll a lot more now than before.

People do ask what lift my Jeep has all the time, I love it people love it. If you have the money, time & grit to get it done and enjoy the ride. Do it, no questions!.

Install was easy enough with the proper tools and equipment. Plasma cutter a must to make it faster. Better written instructions would have been nice. Very vague on a lot of the install. Very happy with the end results.

I’m 58 yrs old and did the complete install in my backyard and on jackstands.

First lift on my 2020 Rubicon. Took me longer since its the first one i installed ever. Over all it was good instruction and the video helped a lot. Back spring squat more than i want with my trailer on them.

My front sway bar links are angled. I dont like that. It does ride much better on the interstate. Their is a little more body roll when turning. Over all for what i paid I don’t feel ripped off. It would be different if i had paid a couple of grand.

After deciding how much I wanted to invest in this first, I ended up choosing the RE 2. 5, i plan on it being my base to build from. I ordered the kit, it came within 3 days. The paperwork now the box was a little a little confusing, as it didn’t match the year of my 2014 JKU.

I called just to confirm, customer service was extremely helpful, and assured me that it was the right kit, just that RE hasn’t updated the paperwork that comes in it. Install: I by no means am a mechanic, however I watched the videos the on the app and can say it’s an outstanding resource if you’re planning on doing this yourself.

I was able to complete this in about 9 hrs by myself. One thing that helped me was I had 2 x seven ton jack stands. It allowed me to use my two smaller ones and the 1 floor jack I have. (I recommend having at least 2 floor jacks, but can be done with one).

Also I did this entirely with basic hand tools as I don’t own impacts. I also recommend having 2 x 18 and 19 mm wrench’s. I drive a lot, so I went with 33” tires, there is a little extra space in the wells bit overall I love it.

After completing I took to have the alignment checked, the rear was fine, the front was really close, had to have the tow adjusted a little. It rides pretty smooth, Not as good as before, but I blame that on the all terrain tires and not the lift.

Extreme Terrain sent me the wrong springs with this kit (I got the 3. 5″ Sport ones). They did supply store credit after speaking with customer service so I was happy with the outcome. YouTube is your friend, and I strongly recommend watching the videos before even looking at the instructions.

Have the videos handy throughout your installation. The instructions specify a 7/8″ hole for the drag link flip kit. THAT IS TOO LARGE DO NOT DRILL!! I had to go buy a new knuckle ($75 on APW; 3 day delay).

The tapered sleeve was also out of spec (too small, 0. 845 instead of 0. 875) so I bought the Teraflex one for the new knuckle ($11 on 4WP). I blame R. E. for this not Extreme Terrain. The hole you drill for the bump stops is not 5/16″ that is too small the self tapping bolts won’t grab (ironic, right?) You use your rear linkages in the front, and the supplied ones for the rear.

With all that said, the ride is better than stock and looks great. Handles well with all the kinks worked out. I’m running 35’s with stock fenders. Will definitely need a new/better steering stabilizer.

Did this in my buddy/mechanic’s garage with a full suite of tools and hi-lift jack/stands. Took 15 hours of 70 focus.

Bought this teraflex long arm and its a good kit. The only thing i don’t like is the regular bump stops limit flex, and it doesn’t flex as good as a long arm typically should. Also, the control arm brackets are beefy so its very easy to notice them compared to other lifts.

Overall I enjoy this lift, rides good on the road and great on the freeway.

I have bought many RC products in the past with no issues but this time I was missing a 2 body bolts. Called costumer service and was told a hardware kit would be sent right away. Got the box 2 days later and it was an entire new kit.

No arguing on the phone and they have got a RC fan for life. BTW RC Has came along and they are not cheap or poorly made kits.

The Rough Country 1. 25 in body lift is a good buy. The install didn’t take long and it was simple. My jeep looks great I plan on paring the body lift with a suspension lift soon. The only thing that is annoying is that you need to bang out the original body mount bolts to replace them with new hardware.

If you use a vise or two blocks of wood with a hammer placeing the mount in between it won’t be to bad. The other downside is that you need the shifter extender which helps with clearance with the shifter to the tub.

But you still have to modify the shifter boot so the shifter will stay in gear. This product is great for those with automatic transmission but standard transmission folks are going to run into minor issues with shifter clearance.

Overall it gives you that extra clearance to run bigger tires and I’d recommend paring it with a suspension lift.
