20 Best 10 Inch Subwoofer For Small Sealed Box (2023 Updated)

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY A WIRING KIT or RCA LEADS FOR THIS – they are included in the box. Unfortunately, this is not stated clearly on the product advert, so I, as im sure many have – bought a wiring kit and RCA lead kit needlessly.

The fused 12v supply wire is very thin (16gauge I would guess) so there obviously isnt a massive current drain on the amp side of this subwoofer. I connected it using the “wired to the rear speakers” option, with 12v supply from the fuse box as recommended and the blue aux wire to the cigarette lighter socket which disconnects when the key is removed.

Earth to the nearest chassis point. The speaker/RCA wire is only about 6 inches long so you will need to extend it. Other wires are plenty long enough (if you locate the sub under the front seats). Bass quality is adequate from such a small speaker – don’t expect to vibrate your windows! Overall – pretty good.

I bought two of these for my truck thinking they can bring the thump as a pair. They do OK – not all that impressive and I think if its just one of these then its not going to be all that enjoyable unless youre looking for a very simple, modest upgrade to an existing system.

Once turned properly they can offer a nice low end bump compared to your door speakers and can make bass drums sound a little livelier than they otherwise might. But its only a modest upgrade over a really good 6×9 component speaker so just keep your expectations in check.

The box is incredibly small for what youre getting so in a way they perform well for such a small enclosure and 8 sub but what I wanted them for they just didnt quite get there. If you buy these theyre strongest between 50-60 Hz.

Dont bother with 25-40 Hz its pretty weak.

The sound quality of this is really good. The bass is punchy and tight. The size is small enough to tuck it away somewhere or mount it like i did in my jeep. I would recommend especially if space is an issue but still want big bass sound.

Came from 2 JL Audio 8W3V3s that sounded great but I did not have the space for them in my 2022 M3 but had the room for a single 10. Instead of always going Jl Audio, thought Id give Alpine a try. The S matched my amp similar to what I had before, running 500w 2 ohm mono and it did not disappoint.

Still breaking it in, but already happy with the bass depth and punch of this sub. I dont have a reason to change it out for a JL 10W3V3 because this Alpine S series sub sounds phenomenal. Very happy and perfect complement to the factory Logic 7 HK system in the car.

Im a 15 inch sub guy however this 12 in sub does not disappoint sound quality A1! If you need clean sounding deep bass this subwoofer is for you!! if you must have more power just get type r series. Love alpine so much I got two type r 12 inch subs as well and those two sound better than and just as loud as my 15.

youve been warned if your in the market for great sound quality this sub is for you!!! if you want horrible sounding overrated on power cheap B. S. thats loud look elsewhere this sub isnt for you!!!!.

Always a great speaker. Been around a long time. Easy to set up. Good quality and sound. The price is a little high. My wife loves best buy. Bt the service at Best Buy is very chaotic. On a day with absolutely nothing to do.

After researching several different types of powered subs for my Jeep Wrangler I decided to go with the kicker hideaway 10. Took less than 2hrs to install and I am a novice. I placed underneath/behind driver side seat and is pretty much undetected and out of the way.

I have an aftermarket Kenwood and the hook up was rather simple but but the kicker RCA plugs for ease. The extra thump and deep bass my Jeep now has was well worth the cost. The Crutchfield tech team is also helped answer a few questions and I couldn t have had a better experience dealing with them.

Highly recommend crutchfield and this powered sub if you re looking to add bass to your ride.

First, you have to know your settings – figure that out. And then this thing is incredible!! I had the HS8 and it was good but it has its limitations and I was happy but not impressed. Unplugged the HS8, plugged in the HS10 and it was literally night and day.

The bass is so much deeper and cleaner and clear instantly its significantly better. I literally could not be happier. Sometimes I have to turn the bass knob down the bass can actually get overpowering which is unheard of for such a compact speaker.

Fits perfect in my truck – behind rear seat. Has a very good bass level considering the size. Makes for a superior sound experience. Easy to install and set up.

This sub straight pounds deep deep lows crisp chest pounding everything shaking from the dbs it can produce. Take the time to tune your box. I’m punishing my cab of my truck quad cab with 6dbs. With ONE of these.

I have been involved in car audio since a kid Rollin his very first ride. I have had the the top name brands like Kicker Kenwood,Fosgate,Memphis. None of these can even compare to this sub. with the money you save here you can take your time and tune your box correctly, and with your left over money you saved and could have spent on other top brands, get your self some dyno mat.

You will feel every thump this sub puts out. Mines been running a week now and not even close to break in point when it really comes alive. Definitely worth money and time to invest in. Definitely getting more to set up my other vehicles.

The sub came at least a day earlier than I expected. I pulled that heavy monster out of the double shipping boxes and immediate I could tell this was one serious monster. I guess the 11 lbs. Magnet was the first clue.

I loaded it into my 1. 5 cubic foot t-line vented box( tight fit cuz box wasn’t quite cut out for that large of a diameter sub- some modification required. no biggie. ) popped in some godsmack, and turned up the volume to about 8 and realized this thing POUNDS!! Let me tell u.

the difference was amazing. I was running a little power acoustic 800 watt crypt subwoofer b4 @ around 600 watts @2 ohms and it was pretty loud. but running the Rockville @ 1 ohm and closer to 1200 watts was like night and day!! This speaker hit almost twice as hard at probably half the volume level!! Needless to say.

i was impressed!! The price was reasonable to say the least. i havent even had the volume on the system past 14 yet nor even broke in the sub and I think it’s probably the best my system has ever sounded.

I had to make a minor adjustment to the gain on my kenwood 4 channel to compensate for more bass. but other than that my little pos isuzu rodeo sounds pretty damn good. I dont see the need for any other upgrades in the bass department.

I’d say that probably the speaker should last for a good long time. the super high temp 3 inch voice coils haven’t barely even heated up and no smell whatsoever has come from the box. ( last couple of subs I ran smelled of burning voice coils if played to loud for too long).

the speaker in my opinion is really stout and all parts that matter are of high quality so I expect to problems with it over long term. I highly recommend this speaker to anyone!!!! I would definetly buy again without hesitation!!!.

I have been around the block with car audio having products such as alpine pdx, soundstream tarantula, hifonics Brutus. After having kids and needing to budget my cravings for car audio I have a new favorite.

Rockville ! Rockville has a new fan with amps with solid features such as Siemens crossovers and separate preamp and amp circuits. CEA COMPLIANT !! Distortion limit circuits ! I currently have the RDX-M2 amplifier pushing 750 RMS to the Rockville W12K6 and its Amazing combination of power and precision.

I was using an American bass XD12 @2 ohms getting 550RMS but at [email protected], the Rockville W12K6 is cleaner, very efficient, and shakes my whole civic with authority ! If paying more for another brand makes you smile then go ahead but Rockville has a new fan.

The folks at CT are genuine and passionate about their creations. I used 2 of their TROPO-12 subs in a high end design, and I’m loving them so much that I’m replacing the reference KRK 10” subs on the bottom of the towers with some TROPO-10’s now.

These drivers are very musical, pristine, fast, and POWERFUL in properly built enclosures. I’d already designed and built my speakers, and the TS parameters actually were a perfect fit for the sub enclosures! Make sure you have a killer box that’s well made and internally treated, and these subs will be reference level material (which is what I’m using them for in a serious hifi mastering far field monitor suite).

if this is your price range and sound quality is a must don’t hesitate. I’ve never had a skar but I was torn between this or the svr and I think this I made the right choice. Definitely likes to be inverted but response is much more profound in a very narrow hz range.

They take clipped power at 800 plus watts for up to 5 minutes and I just smell the coil getting hot moderately. This was done accidentally of course my stock alt couldn’t support rp1500. 1 power thirst.

It’s definitely stout can’t wait to build a custom enclosure but 1. 5 cubes seems too small when it sounded louder and cleaner down low inverted in a 2 cube prefab at 36 hz tune. But idk definitely best I’ve owned will see how long it lasts.

I wanted this subwoofer specifically since the unit is compact and uses a passive radiator. I had expectations that this sub would just be something to complete the low frequencies and not be anything loud.

It definitely surpassed my expectations, this sub bumps! It s not crazy loud, but for the compact size of this unit and for the amount of power it takes, it moves a lot of air (it s louder than I expected, it shakes the rearview mirror quite a bit).

Since it is a passive radiator, it sounds like a ported enclosure (which I prefer) and hits the low frequencies very well. I am very happy with my purchase, perfect for my application since I did not want to take up much trunk space.

I would recommend this to someone who wants a subwoofer for a great value, wants it to be easily removable, and not take up all their trunk space.

Sound better than them 10″ single box subs from kicke in a Single Cab GMC Sierra really deep bass im do 2 of these in the future.

I just wanted a little “thump” with my music while driving, but this sub added more than I was expecting. I like that it comes with a controller to be able to increase or decrease the amount of bass you want.

The enclosure seems very sturdy also.

Really good sound! I had this installed at a local shop and even they were very surprised with the price to sound quality ratio! Obviously this won’t produce ground shattering bass but it will make your car sound really good.

as long as it’s paired with the perfect amp, this is a great sub enclosure! i ran into the issue of running too much power into the sub, which caused it to seize 2 times, thankfully i had the geek squad protection both times, but would have been a worse issue if not.

i ended up going with a 12” setup instead, w 600 Watts rms at 2 ohms, the cxa800. 1 amp goes perfect with this. really nice punchy and non distorted bass, doesn’t hit the lows insane or anything but very solid.

depends what type of music you’re mainly listening to on it, for me the sealed enclosure was the best fit for the genres i’m into. also pretty small, not too heavy. easy to move in and out of my hatchback, never lack space with it on a day to day basis.

and with the hatchback specifically i recommend A LOT. fills up the entire vehicle incredibly well, it’s a great listening experience.

this sub sounds amazing. I have it in a regular cab ford and it absolutely rocks! I did however have a hard time finding a good amp that runs at the watts that this speaker requires and found that at 400 watts you have a minimal selection to choose from.

I am shocked though at the sheer volume this tiny box is capable of once I found my amp [ Rockville DB11 ] things sure have changed since i was in high school [93].

Now at last. all Kenwood Excellon System!! You will not find a better sub for not only for the price but also for the sound!! The combination you use is paramount for sound quality result!! I have it hooked up to a Kenwood 5 channel amp (X 801-5) and a DDX6903S radio, combined with (4) 3 way 6.

5 KFC-1695PS speakers, equalized with a Clarion EQS-775 on my Jeep Wrangler 2011. It sounds like if I had $3000. 00 invested on the sound system!!! Outstanding, clear, un-distortioned, powerful sound!! Buy it.

Was nervous about getting this sub because of the lack of reviews, but it is freaking amazing. I get happier and happier every time i here it. I used to have two type r 12s and was bummed when i got my new truck and could not fit them, thought about getting the type r shallow but they cost way too much.

I bought one of these and am so happy, i will deffinitely buy another. I have it in a. 68 box which is a lil small for the sub, but it still sounds amazing. It hits rediculously hard, it does struggle just a bit with the lows but they still sound pretty good, it might just be because my box is too small; ill find out when i build a bigger new box to fit two they will have 1.

Talk about “King Kong in the trunk!” Sheesh, I really feel like I made the right purchase at Car Toys! Truly a better way to go! (Yes, I did shop around before and after going to Car Toys and no other place compared, not even close!).

Had it for less than 2 weeks. Got under the seat on my f150 great. Speaker blew while playing Sublime – Garden Grove. Now it rattles like crazy. For $200, Im pretty upset.

Big bass sound yet compact size. Also kickers always have durable construction. Highly recommend!

I have an Acura TL, so. not a huge amount of trunk space. Not only is this 10″ sub compact, it rattles the trunk a little more than I thought it would. So much so, I dont push the volume past 9. Which is less than 1/2 the limit.

So, I purchased one of these along with a NVX NDA102 1500W Peak (750W) RMS N-Series Class-D 1-Ohm Stable Monoblock Amplifier, and a prefabbed box from SONIC ELECTRONIX. Let me tell you just this one 10-inch sub with gains turned up about 3 quarters of the way up straight hit and I mean the bass is exceptional its so clean and crisp but deep! I was skeptical at first cuz I went to a local store in my city and spent 820 dollars on 2 10-inch Memphis audio street edge subs and was told that they will hit hard and come to find out that they were only allowed to push 200 RMS max which is about a quarter of what this can push.

Long story short I got burned and then I discovered this website and was doing research and came upon these products from NVX. Purchased these and spent $396. 13 and installed it with my father and havent looked back!! These subs from NVX are quality made and this WEBSITE is 100% LEGIT! VERY HAPPY THANKS SONIC ELECTRONIX.

These 12s pound, it feels like I have Thor trapped in my trunk. I bought them to replace a pair of Rockford Fosgate P2D4 12s and in a sealed sound ordinance box with an NVX 104, 1500-watt mono block amp wired @ 1ohm, and they are more than comparable.

In fact, if you take into account the value factor, these top the P2D4-12 hands down. Robust, well built, all the features of my previous Rockford Fosgates, but at fraction of the cost. The quality was way more than I expected and very durable.

I say that because for the first few days of installation I had the gains turned up way too high and I thought I had blown my new subs, but after I shut everything down and recalibrated, I was back and running, no sweat.

Just sounds really muddy and tight, like a dam paper guitar speaker, it would take 3 of them together to attain the 250 watts it claims to run on, my smallest kicker mid Amp is too much for it

These really do sound good, better than my old punch subs…hopefully will last 20 years like they did. Don’t hesitate to buy.

This sub is very cool. I have a 12type s alpine sub boasting 1500W output & this 12 sub outputs at 1000W & Id say is just as loud, if not louder. Different type of bass though. Whereas the type s is very sleek & form in its delivery of bass, this one is loud & thumping & ratchets the volume so ur car is shaking to the beat (in a good way) its almost too loud & bassy but as my friends say, u can never have enough bass Thanks guys.

I bought this Alpine 10 because everything else in my truck is alpine except amp. l have mbquart pushing 1 10 and Alpine 4 channel pushing door speakers and they sound wonderful. The skar 12 i had in the truck was stolen so i decided on Alpine bass tube bad decision should have went with something of better sound Im going to replace it because bazooka speakers sound better than whai have.

So guys and girls but headunits and amps and 5/14 but stay away from Alpine bass tubes thanks also writing a letter to car and audio good luck people Trash folks dont buy.

Paired with a Rockville Phenom amp and WOW, this thing thumps. Very tight, clean bass, can handle alot of boost and volume and stay that way too. Bass won’t carry into the next neighborhood but inside my truck it’s phenomenal.

I had never head of Skar before walking into an audio install store last year. I figured if they had them in there they were worth listening to. I bought these because I thought my Cerwin Vega weren’t functioning correctly.

I was surprised at the bass the Skar put out, but reviews gave them the “shout-out” they deserve! Nice and mellow, not punchy or bloated. I had these wired to an 8-channel JL Audio amp but have since installed a Diamond Audio mono amp and the sound is just better.

(Trust me, a mono amp for your subs is necessary for full, rich, reproductive sound) I wonder what the 10″ EVL subs sound like? Should I find out????.

No complaints about these sdr 18s. They hit hard and drop low also. I’m running them on a skar rp 1200 so they are slightly under powered and still sound good. I plan to upgrade to a skar 2000 watt amplifier in the future.

Skar has good quality speakers and amplifiers at fair price range. I recommend skar audio over any of the over priced big name audio brands.

Worse product I every bought. Had terrible screeching sound. Should have did a little more research on this company they don’t try to help you only had installed for 4 days. They keep trying to make it seem like you don’t know what your doing.

But I’ve had my kickers for years put them back in they worked perfectly fine. But SKAR audio terrible.

This driver replaced a Cerwin-Vega sub in my home theater system, a down firing 15 in HT model that was purchased new in 1998. Recently blew it out with Tel-Arcs recording of the 1812 overture. (these things happen).

The V154DV2 was a plug and play replacement. I was shocked at the performance! Much better than the stock driver! Yet to know the longevity. Great bang for the buck.

hits hard, but doesnt get low, not the subs fault. I had hopes it would work better than it does in my small sealed enclosures. 63cft each, but i can tell this sub is asking for a larger enclosure. the box is in a15 gmc sierra extended cab under seat with 2 10s.

the subs themselves appears to be high quality, something that i have come to expect with cerwin vega products. i recommend them if you have atleast the. 75cft box they call for.

Built a custom box to fit my 2010 wrx sti using my factory head unit with Cerwin Vega 6. 5 in spits and tweeters front and rear sounds insanely clear with nice clarity bass thats why vanilla ice said in ice ice baby with the bass kicked in and the Vegas are pumping.

Im usually a fan of Rockford subs, have used them many times over my 25+ yrs in the car audio game, but this time I decided to try something different. I needed a shallow mount and, after doing a little research, I settled on a pair of 12tw3s.

I have used JL in the past and have had good luck, plus they have an excellent reputation, so my expectations were high. These subs do not disappoint. I have them in a sealed, downward firing box, under the back seat in my Chevy Silverado.

Theyre powered by a Rockford T750 amp running at 1ohm and they hammer extremely well. especially for a shallow mount sub. They obviously dont hit like my old Rockford T112D4s but thats to be expected as they only require about 1/4 of the interior volume.

Not to mention theyre W3s and not W7s. If you have limited space and need a shallow mount subwoofer you will not be disappointed. Excellent sound, very well made and they hit hard. All in all they are an excellent product and typical JL Audio; High quality.

I have 1x 12tw3-d4 installed in a 2020 f150 crew cab platinum in a down fire under rear seat non ported box powered by a rd500, integrated with a lc2i pro and it freaking slams!!! Nice pure clean real bass! JL audio is the top of the line in my opinion! Don t question it just buy it and you will be overly happy!!.

I have a 12w6v3-4 in the JL-HO110, powered by their XD600, which is supposedly perfectly matched together. I have had my setup for over the warranty period, so I understand some hassle. That being said, somehow the voice coils are merged together (assume one broke and is now touching the other).

How this happened is beyond me considering I am 46 years old, listen to country music, and don’t even come close to pushing the sub to what it is supposedly capable of. I got the same response as the other reviewer, which boils down to well pay us $350, and we will rebuild it and send it back.

Really? There is no way this is not a sub malfunction! I would think they would stand behind their almost $800 sub a little better. Last time I checked I thought they were JL Audio not Pyramid Audio.

Nice game they have sell a sub for $800 it fails and then sell a $350 rebuild fee, which there is no way should be that much. Oh well serious lesson learned. There is no reason to pay up for JL Audio anymore when the quality, and more importantly, their standing behind their product seems to have gone by the wayside.

I will say the people at customer service were very nice, and spent the time to talk with me. But in the end, it boils down to “do you have a receipt that shows 2 years or not”. Regardless, I have a really pretty, heavy, useless sub that was built by you and failed long before it should have and at no fault of the install or the end user.

I used to think that a subwoofer was like any other subwoofer. The main difference being the name that you are willing to pay for. In part, there is some truth to it. Take JL for instance, I have owned a pair of JL10W3 before and although slightly more expensive, outperformed my cheaper pair of Sundown 10″SA3D4.

I keep to my philosophy pertaining to car audio, that a sound system is never perfect, and always becons for fine adjustments. Otherwise, why be a mobile audio enthusiast? With this thought in mind, since I was impressed by the JL10W3, why not dump the money into the more expensive JL10W6V3D4.

Because this subwoofer can be mounted and perform in a relatively small air space, it was ideal for my application. With some minor box adjustments, I was able to incorporate these beasts into my system.

I was astonished by the power and range of these subs. It is my opinion that you get out of something what you put into it. Go ahead and take the plunge, but be sure to match whatever speaker you get with the appropriate amplifier.

I went into car toys a couple months ago to go purchase a system for my car. I felt at the time I was making a good decision, because car toys has been around forever, right? I had a friend go with just to make sure I was getting what I wanted.

The first time I worked with 2 gentlemen, but the one that talked the most & acted like he was giving me the best deal around was Jessie. Well long story short, I purchased 1 10in & all around speakers for inside my Lexus, & an amp.

I wasn’t quite sure what I needed for it to sound good, so I went with what Jessie said would be good. I brought my car in after a week & dropped it Off all day. I went to pick it up later that night.

I didn’t think nothing of it till I got home, my speakers that were in my car prior, were gone, & as I really started to listen to the “new” stereo, it sounded like garbage. I had a couple good friends that know about stereos come listen to it.

They said first off they shouldn’t have done anything with my original speakers, they should have given them back. Second off for as much as I paid, it sounded awful. I called a couple days later & I spoke with Jesse.

When I was speaking to him on the phone & asking him where my speakers were, he told me that they had destroyed them. I was pretty upset by then telling them they never first mentioned to me that that’s what they do is destroy speakers & I asked him what I was supposed to do when I sold my Lexus sell it with no speakers? He got pretty rude with me & said if I was going to have an attitude & talk to him like that I wasn’t allowed in the store.

i told him that I will go in there Regardless of what he says because I’m pretty mad about how my car was put together & that my speakers are now gone. Well at the end of it all the GM Called me his name is Nick.

He was awesome to work with by the way, they upgraded my speakers to two 10 inch & they gave me another set of brand new speakers to replace the 1’s that they destroyed, now I’m happy.

I’ve been using JL Audio subs in my cars since the 90s when I bought my first one, a 10W6. That sub was an absolute game changer, and this new 10W1 is better. I couldn’t be more pleased with this purchase.

I bought it to replace the NVX driver in this cheap setup that I picked up because JL doesn’t (yet) make a stealthbox for my Model 3. The driver that was in my NVX fiberglass enclosure was literally trash.

It took them 3 months and 4 attempts to get me a working sub, and when I got one that worked, the sound quality and frequency response was not any better than my factory sub, just a bit louder. I removed that driver and installed this W1, and immediately noticed better deep bass rather than a single spike at 50hz as I had before.

Should have gone with JL from the beginning, as I always had done in the past.

On the positive side, this little subwoofer far exceeded my expectations regarding sound quality and overall output. Size vs Sound — It’s a clear winner. Unfortunately it does not fit. With the subwoofer in the car, my factory roof panel no longer properly fits in the storage area, contrary to JL’s claims.

I can’t recommend it if it doesn’t fit. Additionally the color matching is “”ok”” at best. It certainly does not match the color or texture of the factory carpet. I bought this locally and had it professionally installed.

Based on the color and fit, I can’t recommend it.

Purchased two of these 12’s and ran them off of a slash 500/1 in a ported enclosure. Nice tight & clean bass for the first month (break in period). After a month I put the gain up to half and BOOM, these guys completely excelled my expectations!.
