15 Best Yum Yum Sauce Brand (2023 Updated)

Best Tom Yum spice paste I have ever had! I’ve used this in rice dishes, soups, stir-fries…. Even though it is somewhat spicy-hot, the complex flavours of the other ingredients can still be identified in the mouth—other makes often just burn the tongue.

I intend to try other items from Mekhala.

I’m 45, male, born in Italy to Sicilian parents, I moved to the USA when I was little, and I spend two months every year in Italy. My family and I travel each year to Acqualagna, Italy which is the truffle capital of the world just to spend a few days eating and stocking up on truffle products.

Here are my thoughts on TRUFF Black Truffle Pomodoro sauce. Definitely NOT worth the hype you’ve been hearing about! Not even close. The base of the sauce is your average generic tomato sauce flavor that Americans have grown accustomed to.

The truffle flavor is very mild and almost undetectable (my wife pointed out to me that she can’t taste much of the truffle flavor), and we ordered the Black Truffle Pomodoro sauce. not the hot/spicy version, but this sauce does have some heat to it.

For my eight-year-old son, he gave it a 5/10 on the hot scale, I gave it a 3 or 4. The issue is that when it comes to eating pasta, I’m not a fan of having it with a hot sauce. I’m not a fan of arrabiata sauce, and the TRUFF sauce was very close to it.

Problem is, they don’t advertise this as being hot; in fact, this is the not hot version. Overall, I gave it 3/5 for American standards. If I were in Italy and they served me pasta with this sauce, I would’ve destroyed them in my review.

Don’t believe the hype. You can do much better by getting another product that features more discernible tartufo (truffle) flavor. By the way, I’m a huge fan of black truffle and I’ve tried all four varieties (fresh).

I may even be the only crazy person who buys dress black summer truffles in Italy and drives around eating them as if they were apples.

I have been getting TRUFF products for some time now; however, I finally ordered from the website and ordered the pasta sauces. Let me tell you – BOTH of them are so flavorful and full of great taste.

You do not need that much but just a small amount enhances your pasta. The oil is a hit ! I use it on grilled cheese and chicken sandwiches. My toddler has been eating foods with TRUFF oil in it for almost a year.

A small amount is really all you need. The spicy TRUFF mayo is AMAZING !!!!!!! I used it to make chicken salad sandwiches yesterday and my husband was in love ! The quality is just excellent and whether for dinner or a lunch break, your dish will be enhanced with TRUFF !!! TRUFF is not a letdown at ALL.

I will keep ordering !!!.

I use this in the place of a lot of other much-higher-sodium sauces. Tastes great on sandwiches, instead of mayo, and also makes a tasty salad dressing. Use it to make a low-sodium coleslaw and with Alberto’s Jalapeño Relish, make surprisingly good low-sodium devilled eggs.

I don’t know of any other low-sodium sauce with so many uses. I also mix it with some higher-sodium sauces to reduce the sodium. For example, mix it with a little Lum Taylor’s BBQ Sauce to make a BBQ sauce with much less sodium.

I remembered seeing the same colored sauce at a Japanese restaurant (Hibachi), but it turned out this isn’t something I like on anything else. As a matter of fact I am going to discard the whole bottle.

Turns out this doesn’t taste good to me on anything else and even with steak, I prefer A1, if I use a sauce at all. I love Chinese food and thought this might be good for dipping all sorts of things, like chicken, pork, eggrolls, etc.

Better off using BBQ or Sweet & Sour. Since everyone has different tastes, I suppose this might be okay for some, but for me it was just a learning experience that didn’t pan out.

This stuff is called yum yum stuff for a reason. It is so yummy! I love sushi and always wondered what that orange-y sauce was that comes in the bento box—this is it. It literally tastes exactly like the sauce at Japanese restaurants.

This sauce is perfect on chicken, meat, and even vegetables. I put it on some steak and brussel sprouts and it was a hit! Not sure why anyone would leave a bad review on this yummy sauce. It’s delicious!.

This is delicious!!! I put it on chicken, plain rice, roasted veggies- just about anything you can think of. It is a delightfully creamy, tangy sauce that has a subtle umami profile, and a pleasant saltiness.

It is not spicy by any means. It is just really flavorful, creamy sauce. I believe this has a mayo base, judging on flavor alone. It does not taste like thousand island, or anything remotely similar.

It is a unique, flavorful addition to any meal- especially Asian cuisine. For the price, what do you have to lose? I definitely recommend trying this out.

What the company fails to disclose is how wonderfully low in SODIUM this product is. It’s on the label, but not advertised. The “light” version has only 10 mg of sodium per serving (2 tbsp). NOT the REGULAR Yum Yum version, which is MUCH higher in sodium.

Careful, they are side by side on the shelves. For salt-adverse folks like myself, this is a fabulous discovery. I just bought 6 bottles last week at Walmart. In addition , Yum Yum (and Walmart) should point out how good it is on salads.

It’s roughly the same as Thousand Island dressing (though not quite as good).

So I have my Nissan noodles heated and just needed my yum yum sauce. This brand tastes like what you would get at a restaurant. The light version has no corn syrup! It is delicious on rice, noodles or meat.

Highly recommend. Great price when on sale at Publix.

This was recommended on a Facebook Intermittent Fasting page. It sounded good. It tastes like a hamburger secret (mayo mixed with catsup) sauce to me and no distinct flavor or Asian spice. Maybe the non lite choice has more flavor.

Hubs didn’t care for it either.

Dressed an ordinary salad, two big servings (romaine, arugula, red lettuce, spinach, roma tomatoes, red onions, green onions) with Yum Yum dressing and served it to my sister and her husband. I get an email 45 minutes later that they’ve finished it.

They never get excited about salad, so it must be this dressing. Amazing.

Sam’s Club used to sell the original version and the gluten-free version. My family doesn’t like the taste of the gluten-free version. Nowhere in the description nor the picture does this say it’s gluten-free.

However, when delivered, it was gluten-free. Wish they still carried the original.

Best at home Yum Yum sauce! We love to do hibachi at home, but the best part of hibachi is the yum yum sauce! We have tried several and attempted to make some. This sauce is the winner!!! And great price through Sam’s.

I was SHOCKED at how delicious every G Hughes Product is. every single thing I’ve tried so far has been absolutely the BEST PERIOD! BBQ Sauces – ‘Honey’; Dipping Sauces – ‘Yum Yum’, ‘Famous Cluckin’ which taste just like the famous Chicken Fast Food; ‘Honey Mustard’ that could easily be a salad dressing; good ‘Ketchup’; Marinades – ‘Teriyaki Marinade’ is THE BEST.

and I’ve been looking for a great store bought Teriyaki for years and years that has good thickness and tastes as good. G Hughes HAS IT!!! And they are SUGAR FREE. I almost fell over when I was doing my own taste tests! ha ha 0:-) So these are THE BEST if they had sugar or not.

Seriously and especially for those that are looking or NEEDING to CUT Sugar without sacrificing taste. My One Caveat is. that ALL the G Hughes products contain the artificial sweetener Sucralose (basically Splenda), but at least it’s the last ingredient on the labels that I’ve read so far.

Yet, if I had a choice I’d much rather they use natural sweeteners like Allulose.

Very very good. Tasted just like CFA sauce. It has a couple of non-healthy ingredients, but the real stuff (or the generic version) is no better and full of sugar. If you use this moderately with your nuggies, I don’t see a problem.

I do wish that G Hughes would switch to using Olive or Avocado Oil instead of Canola and Allulose or Stevia instead of Sucralose. I’d buy all of their products weekly if they did.

Has a great flavor! Buying my second bottle now. For the reviewer complaining about the “trivial amount of sugar” in the ingredients list: The trivial amount of sugar comes from lemon juice concentrate.

Lemons have sugar in the form of fructose, because they are a fruit. There isn’t enough lemon juice in the recipe to taste or to raise the sugar in the nutrition facts for 2 T. Stop whining, it’s weird.

Excellent product, I had not heard of it before. I came across it whilst looking at recipes, so decided to give it a try. Ebay was great giving me the chance to try a small amount before buying a large jar.

I made some soup and was suitably impressed, I will definitely be ordering a large jar of the paste.

This has to be the best sauce on the planet. Its great with everything. I use it on my eggs, in my noodles and as a base to my during dipping sauce. The bulk deal is amazing but its out of stock right when I need it.

Let me start by saying this sauce/gravy depending on what you call it was better than I thought. I also can my own sauce so I know what goes into it a good sauce and this has a lot of good ingredients.

You can see and taste the chunks of onion and a good sauce always starts with olive oil and onion. They are cooked perfectly. Not to mention that it’s all natural, no GMO or preservatives. The tomatoes have also simmered to perfection, leaving a good thickness and body.

I can also tell they use fresh basil. It’s not just little flakes but it’s chopped and vary green. I used tomato basil and you can actually taste the basil, not like other sauces. One jar is perfect for one pound of pasta.

If I didn’t take it out of the jar myself, I would of never known it wasn’t homemade. Bellissimo!.

The brand Yo Mama’s touts fresh ingredients, all natural & I can say there are adequate amounts of crushed tomatoes, diced garlic, herbs in the sauce to feel confident in the company’s statement. I got the spicy marinara and it it true to the claim! I enjoy spicy food and typically and spices to up the heat factor in dishes, but this definitely does not need any additions! I gave 3 stars because the sauce itself is bland and the spiciness is overpowering.

The consistency is thick but thins perfectly when heated. I used sauce with meatballs & it coated well, didn’t just drip off the meat. If the spice was dialed back some and more herbs added to enhance flavor, in my opinion, it would make this a family favorite.

Absolutely amazing, and this chili paste plays well with about any other spice. The garlic kick is nice too and for me at least, the heat is rather mild but very flavorful with a nice texture. Wish it were a larger jar, and I am never without this wonderful sauce.

Also goes great with Mexican foods, over cabbage rolls, beef sandwiches, wraps, good hot dogs, you name it; it’s addictive. Thanks for reading my review.

I discovered this when I went plant based and needed more flavor in my foods. At first it was burning hot (to me) but I’ve gotten used to it and use it in so many things and now prefer it to sriracha.

I mix it with plain hummus to give it a kick, use it in homemade salad dressings, love it with white beans, and love the flavor of it on kale with rice wine vinegar. Now I always keep a jar in my cabinet.

This sauce has such amazing flavor. My husband and I love using it to spice up stir fries, rice bowls, and marinades for meats. It has very good flavor that works well by itself or mixed with other spices.

Personally, I love spicy food, but when I am cooking for someone that doesn’t, it is easy to use this sauce and sweeten/soften the spice level with something like honey or agave. Would definitely recommend.

it basically just tastes like eggs! it’s disgusting! I was looking for something like the good times fry sauce, similar color but tastes nothing like that! Not even edible in my opinion.

I used to love the fry sauce from arctic circle fast food restaurant from my young adulthood. There is no longer one near my home and I was looking for an affordable replacement. This stuff is pretty close to what I am looking for.

Living in the Mormon Cultural Region of the United States, I have come to love fry sauce. Some say it’s just mayonnaise and ketchup mixed, but it’s more than that, and Steven’s Gourmet Fry Sauce is the only I’ll buy.

It’s creamy and flavorful and satisfying. It’s the perfect addition to a curried chickpea bowl (pictured). Def recommend!.

$25. Not worth it. Sherwood’s make better curry like sauces. It smells of roses, was quite hot to start with then became milder. I think the first time I tried it it had a lot of the oil. Sorry I cannot recommend not when Sherwood’s do a far better job.

This chili paste is not as hot as some but by far the most flavoursome.For dishes like Pad thai it is brilliant. The only problem is that it is not readily available in the UK.

Caught a deal and bought 3 jars on sale for less than $5. 50 each. Glad I did, because it tastes super good for store bought. I would never ever buy non-organic sauce for $9 a jar -heck not even organic.

I like that this is non-GMO (albeit not organic), very low sodium (125 mg), no sugar added (4g net carbs). I also really dig the name Yo Mama’s. This sauce tastes sweet from the basil and, perhaps, they are using San Marzano tomatoes (that’s what it tastes like but I can’t say for sure).

Look. certified paleo / certified keto are utterly insulting and worthless marketing tactics to charge dumb dumbs more money. The only thing we need is certified non-GMO and/or certified organic, because this directly impacts our health and requires an authority that can actually require testing.

Paleo and Keto labels -wtw!!! I don’t need you to tell me if this fits those criteria, because I can read the label and immediately know myself based on the ingredients and net carbs. LOL. Still, I can’t be mad at a company that took the time to think up and go with the name Yo Mama’s.

I’m doing keto long-term and eat a turkey burger most days -I was eating 2 ounces of grass-fed beef (to get some heme iron) but switched to 4 ounces of organic turkey for the same amount of iron and far less saturated fat (although, with double the quantity, it does add extra cholesterol).

I like to take a pound of organic ground turkey and mix in a little less than a quarter cup of tomato sauce (3 tablespoons is enough) and make four 4 oz burgers ready to go -no need to add salt or any spices but you could.

I store it properly and consume all in four days. Throw a burger in a dry frying pan and it’s ready in minutes. Sometimes, I top it with more tomato sauce -about 3 tablespoons. so that totals about 1/4 cup of sauce altogether per burger (I also top with a tbsp or two of pecorino romano for an instant healthy pizza burger).

The reason I even bother with sauce is because it boosts my iron and potassium -you need this on keto, especially if you aren’t eating lots and lots of meat (vegetarians. I’m looking at you). I only eat a quarter cup (half serving), but this Yo Mama’s sauce adds an extra 1.

5% iron and 3% potassium to my day (and the grated cheese significantly boosts my calcium). If you are eating a half cup serving, double that! If you are doing keto. you need to eat a balanced diet and -at least for a short time when you begin -track your food to make sure you don’t wind up deficient in certain nutrients.

Like many folks on keto, I struggle with getting enough calcium, iron, and potassium as well as tend to overdo it with saturated fat. Although you can get away with more saturated fat when you are in ketosis than not, it isn’t a license to just go insane and eat unlimited saturated fats/cholesterol or sodium.

Bottom line, although sauce adds 2-4 net carbs (10-20% of your day) -depending on whether you eat 1/4 cup or 1/2 cup -it does add nutritional value (lycopine, iron, potassium, and some other things).

I received this week. It stated would be a 3 pack but I only received one jar. I used a little, about a cup, making a pizza. give it just the right tomatoe spicy flavor. Then with remainder of jar I cooked some thin spaghetti noodles, sauted bell peppers, onions, mushrooms and a sweet Italian sausage, once veggies and meat were done I mixed the sauce in let it simmer on low for 40 minutes then mixed my noodles into sauce.

WOW. what flavor by adding the sauce, justvthe right amount of spice and seasoning. I will definitely buy this sauce for future recipes. There are endless ways to use this sauce. Thanks for allowing me to try.

I was very excited to try Yo Mama’s Spicy Marinara. I am a Diabetic and stay away from Sauces since they have many carbohydrates. One Half a Cup of Yo Mama’s Spicy Marinara Sauce has only 5 carbohydrates.

It is low sodium. I am not a salt user and still could tell there was a little something missing. I added Mrs. Dash and a few other spices (Pepper, Italian Seasoning and Garlic) and it tasted better.

It was not just this sauce, I always add to any sauce. I also added some ground hot sausage which made it a lot more spicy. Overall I really like this sauce and will buy it again. LOVE the low CARBS!!.
