20 Best Youth Hockey Neck Guard (2023 Updated)

45 years on the bike. Never used a neck brace before. While racing with the brace, in a jump, not a accident, got hurt on my rigth shoulder. BIG TIME. Big surgery. 5 days in a hospital. 8 months rehab.

Was the neck brace? I don?t know.

A little piece of mind, at an affordable price. I have this along side the EVS chest/back/shoulder protector. Everything fits together perfectly, and it’s like it’s not even there while riding. The only time I occasionally realize it’s there is when I try to look straight up into the sky.

at which point my helmet will bump into the back pad of the brace. I have about 45 riding hours with this neck brace and to say I’m happy with my purchase is an understatement. It’s not the most expensive brace, but it sure gives me piece of mind knowing that I’m protected in the event of a big crash.

This was a very cool helmet. It was a Christmas present. Unfortunately it came with a broken strap and looked used.

Good looking and good quality street hockey goalie helmet. The price compared to other retailers is the icing on the cake!

Clip on helmet is broken and not attached to helmet its stuck on the strap, i am expected to pay for return of item, the description says nothing about purchasing a faulty item. Why should i be out of pocket and spend 20 to return the item its not that i dont want it, just not much use if faulty clearly they dont check goods before dispatch or you would off seen this was faulty sent company pictures of clip.

We use this for our historical European martial arts club. The bib adds the extra bit of protection for thrusts and strikes under the chin that the coats don’t catch. It’d have been nice if there were two other lobes either side of the neck and they closed up all the way at the back.

The velcro is also a little thin for my liking, but it holds up well. We’re happy with how it works in our fencing club.

A kid flipped head over heels colliding with my son during evaluations this past weekend and got a skate to the neck. Parents weren’t allowed to watch evaluations, so I didn’t see it, but from all accounts, my son was very lucky he was wearing his neck guard.

No bruises, no lacerations. Neck is a little sore, but after evaluation from the doctor on call, he’s been returned to play. Only thing I’ll be trading this Aegis collar in for is the next size up!.

Mostly comfortable, doesn’t affect my performance, and is nice to know that I have this extra protection. While taking hits to the head and neck are pretty rare, these are also the kinds of hits that can do a lot of damage.

Having some protection seems like a good idea, but for most players it needs to be convenient, comfortable, and not affect performance. This hits all the boxes with one caveat. The caveat: When putting it on, I need to manipulate the Velcro (either by attaching the soft part slightly above the rough part, or by actually wrapping something arround the strap).

This is because I found that after some time, the part of the protector that separates my neck from the Velcro gets pulled down. This causes some discomfort on the back of my neck and a mild abrasion.

The one thing I haven’t tried is pulling it tighter. And I think that Aegis could have made this a non issue by making the Velcro into a flap that drops down. It is also one of the most expensive, but feels to me like it is the most protection and the best comfort (other than the caveat).

This might not be for everyone, but if you want protection and can avoid the issue, it is one you should consider trying at least.

The bib keeps coming out of my daughters jersey when she wears it. It looks ridiculous. She liked it because it didn’t just wrap around the neck and look like a collar like the other neck guards, but the length of the bib needs to be longer to keep it under her pads.

Other than that the actual guard itself is too notch.

True to size. Comfortable yet sturdy and flexible. Very good for youth.

I was skeptical at first. when this neck guard arrived, it seemed a good inch wider than my old one it replaced. But, after a few hours wearing it, I barely notice it. Hope it lasts me as long as the one I bought it to replace, which I only ditched when the Velcro gave out after 3-4 days a week for almost 10 years!.

Fits well and isn’t too expensive. I needed to pick up for my grandson and it was a easy decision

I had a lower level CCM neck protector that has considerably less protection. As I started playing in more advanced men’s leagues I started getting hit more and more often in that area and I didn’t want to break the bank but wanted something decent.

Not facing Zdeno Chara’s shots but suffice to say this is well worth the money. Took a few one time clappers and this held up.

Good for what it is. Haven’t really gotten to test it much (thankfully) Only had one puck sneak in between my chesty and dangler. Very sturdy honeycomb design, some pointless foam bits in the center.

Graphics starting to peel off. Going to upgrade to a Finnish made one soon.

Will be uncomfortable the first 1-2 times you wear it. After those first few I don’t even notice I have it on anymore, very comfortable. Also nice to feel just a bit more protected.

It has a tall neck piece which is a little restricting on my short and thick neck, but it covers the area and I don’t think twice about it once I’m on the ice. It gets the job done. Would just be good to have a little more velcro for a larger neck and to add the grip strips back on the elbow area to help keep the elbow pads in place.

my daughter has had this shirt for one season. Its a great alternative to a neck guard with the kevlar collar. Only thing is after one season the velcro does not hold. For the amount of money I would hope it would last longer.

These Bauer shirts with neck protect are perfect for our kids hockey. They wash up great and prevent them from needing the extra neck guard.

I have used Leatt Braces in the past and they are great, however I never found they fit me very well. However Atlas braces fit me perfectly, both this new one and a many year old one that has been through many crashes.

For the price it is more than worth it for the level of safety is provides. Combine this with the Atlas Chest protector (which this brace can strap to) it makes it lock down and stay put. After a couple hours on the bike, you’ll forget its there.

After a couple rides, you’ll never want to ride without it.

For me the brace fits and works better then the Leatt. I had the first gen and the last gen of the Leatt braces and they rub where I have broke my collarbone. The Atlas doesn’t seem to have that problem.

My boy like the Leatt better though so both are great and you should try both if possible.

Purchased as replacement of old Alpenstar brace. It fit very well with my Atlas chest protector. It was more comfortable than my last one. I had a big get off in a rhythm section and landed head first into an uphill.

Broke 10 ribs, collar bone and had a collapsed lung. The brace did exactly what it was supposed to do and saved my spine. I’ll take a broken collarbone over a spinal injury every day of the week. This product worked very well for me.

I have inspected it and found no damage so I have been wearing it on my last two rides. I did have to replace my helmet but the brace look fine. -m-2019 HUSQVARNA FC 350–.

The quality is fantastic! Unfortunately, while it fits my neck (I’m a small adult) it is not compatabile with the non youth alpine star jacket that I wear (small adult). Regardless, I still recommend this product, even if it wasn’t a fit for me.

My son had an accident at his Kart race, the neck brace saved his neck. I’m very grateful and can’t say enough about it

Does the job as needed. Found out the other night that throat guards were to protect against errant bats, not balls. Although they do help inexperienced catchers who aren’t accustomed to tucking their chin when they block.

Fits all ages and easy to tie onto mask.

Bought this for my 8th grade catcher. After reading the previous reviews, we went with the zip tie method of securing throat guard.

Good guard. It’s required for little league and did what it was supposed to do!

Bought on the recommendation of the orthodontist but my son is not a fan. He thinks it does a better job at protecting his lips than teeth. We will try and invest in FANG DOUBLE BRACES MOUTHGUARD to see if that supports or covers the teeth more.

Will wait until he gets all his braces in to buy a new one. Also i prefer something that is connected to his helmet because this is already lost or stolen at a football game.

Great mouthpiece but the tether leaves much to be desired. I don’t feel it is secure enough. On the 4th day of it being attached to my sons helmet the tether came off and we lost the mouthpiece somewhere on our walk to practice.

Thankfully I bought multiples and taped the new one securely on there.

Mouth guard works great. Fun design. The strap does not stay locked and is consistently falling off my sons helmet. It’s only matter of time before he loses it.

Picked this up on the way to my kids first game of footy for the season. It moulded easily using water from a thermos. And fitted surprisingly well.

My son wears this for basketball. It is a perfect fit for his little mouth and can easily be adjusted just with boiling hot water. It is perfect for growing mouths and gives us the peace of mind whilst he is playing basketball.

Great product, molded first time no issue, my son has taken a few wacks to the mouth and still has all his teeth.

Nice look and good quality but the security of the interlocking of the mouth and lip guard could be better. I had the pieces installed correctly but sometime during an intense football game the lip guard popped off the front end of the mouthpiece and I lost it.

My son has a problem with the mouthpiece staying connected to the strap. Also the mouth cover comes off the mouthpiece to easily when you have to put the strap back on to the mouthpiece. There is also the one size fits all but I think it’s a bit to big for smaller kids or children.

The plus for this is no boil.

Son got top and bottom braces in the middle of the season. The lame mouth guard the ortho gave us had him drooling all over and he wasn’t able to close his mouth to swallow it. With this he was able to hid his drooling a little bit better.

I use these soakers to and from the rink, also when getting dressed. The more solid ones you see sold are good for only walking in them on certain surfaces, but many people do use them as a guard outside of that and it will contribute to rust! Wipe your blades off after use, use these soakers, then when you get home take them off and dry again with a cloth and let them sit out.

After you can keep these on until your next use. You’ll prevent nicks on your blades by using these, plus you have a protective bottom as well.

These skate guards are very sturdy and good for walking on with your skates. Oddly I did have a little trouble putting them on the skates at first as they are quite stiff. However I was trying to put them on from the front of the skate first and once I realized you need to put the back of the blade on first and stretch it over the front.

It was quite easy once I started doing it that way.

With kids needing to get dressed outside of rinks more often, these were very helpful during the season and gave players a walkable skate guard. The guard is pretty flexible, so you feel like you’re walking on soft, spongey surfaces, which is kind of nice.

The only downside is that the size range creates situations where the skate guards can come off while in-use. It would be helpful if there was some strap that could secure the skate guard in the opening between the runner and boot.

Only reason I bought it was to replace my old one that I’ve had since youth hockey. They don’t make that brand anymore so I went with this one. The clear plastic is really nice. The strings were junk right off the bat but I was going to use hockey lace anyway.

The sides are a bit thicker than the one that I had but I like it. Should provide a smidge better side protection without getting in the way. I’ve played a few times with it and it feels just like the old one and I hardly notice it already.

I have used this Bauer throat protector for 8 seasons now plaging sled hockey and it has kept me safe many times over. I have had 0 issues with it and several times I have checked to make sure it didn’t crack or break after some serious shots.

Nope-still holds up. Soon as I got my new bucket I placed an order for a throat protector. Great product.

Bauer has the most durable dongle in my experience. I am replacing my old one ONLY because I got a new helmet and want a new dongle to match. Protect ya neck!

This is a great neck guard. It is soft, comfortable and doesn’t hinder movement. Some of the more basic neck guards that I have tried have stiff material in them which makes them very uncomfortable, that’s not the case here.

The bib also helps keep the neck guard in place by tucking it under your shoulder pads. I have 15. 5 in neck size, the senior size fits perfectly.

Good quality! I was expecting it to be hard, but it’s really just many layers of fabric to protect the neck. Tucks nicely into chest protector/shoulder pads.

All of my kids use this neck guard and love it. Although stuff initially, like any new gear, it breaks in easily and is adjustable. Peace of mind as a player and parent is key.

I am between the size of Youth (this one) and Senior. For average size boys in 12-13, it still fits. Someone who likes wearing loose, recommend senior size.
