20 Best Yarn For Loom Weaving (2023 Updated)

Dishcloth giver here. I crochet while watching tv. Dishcloths are practical items to have and to give. This yarn makes even the simplest stitches look interesting – really pretty. The polyester part really does give the cloth longevity, both in strength and helping to hold the color.

It is a smaller gage than some cotton yarns, so the cloth is thinner, and the stitches can stay a little bit tighter. The cloth also seems to dry a bit faster than the thicker all-cotton yarn.

Tried to love this yarn. Heart was not in it. Bernat will brainwash one from expanding one’s horizons to other brands and textures. The cotton feels great. If I was a baby, I would want someone to make me a baby blanket form the swirled Sherbert cotton.

The bamboo circular needles did not love this texture.

When I make gifts for my family and friends I try to cater to their favorite colors. I am always looking to get just the right combinations that will look great and please the recipient. Michaels usually has just what I need.

Sometimes I will have one thing in mind and Michaels will have a yarn that will totally change my mind because it is so much better to suite my purpose.

Was looking for a solution for kids masks to be able to ship but also easy for kids to get off and on without pulling at their hair like the elastic mask strings similar to what is used for party hats.

Saw a mask another crafter made who used yarn. This is perfect! Not itchy and is lightweight yet strong. I wouldn’t necessarily use it for knitting or crocheting, but it’s a multi-purpose yarn. I even made a yarn bracelet with it.

So happy that Bella Luna Toys is carrying these yarn packs for weaving. Recently got the Harrisville peg loom, and needed extra yarn for the project my son was weaving. Was able to order the yarn pack and match the yarn! Will be ordering the other colored yarn packs to use for future projects!.

New to weaving so didn’t know how much yarn I would need. The one problem I have with the collection was you don’t get an even amount of each color and I would have chosen a different distribution of the colors.

I like the quality of the yarn. Not a lot of yarn enough for one project which I think is fair for the cost.

This is a stocking stuffer for my daughter who loves her loom. This color scheme is a hit with my kindergarten girl.

I’ve been weaving with Valley cotton (8/2) for years now, and consider it my “go-to” thread. There are some issues with consistency between batches, not only in dye shade but in the twist/finish of the yarn.

Some cones fringe well, others “fuzz out” when washed, as if perhaps they were produced by a different mill. However, since I usually hem, this has not been a serious problem. Overall, the yarn is durable and will provide long service even if woven into daily-use kitchen towels.

I have not seen any of the issues with knots or slubs which are common in other inexpensive threads.

I bought several colors. 8/2 is a good basic weight for dishtowels. The variegated color way lends more depth to the project; more interesting.

I love the weaving yarns that I buy from Webs. I have especially like the 8/2 Variegated Cotton. I have not started using this color, but have two other colors I have used and anticipate this one being just as great as the others.

I love this yarn. It’s soft for wool and the colors are wonderful. The skeins are exactly the right length to crochet a scarf. It’s one of my favorites for making scarves to give as gifts at sell at craft fairs.

I would give it 5 stars except the pictures only show a small portion of the yarn and don’t include all the colors in each skein. I looked up better pictures elsewhere, but I shouldn’t have to put in the extra effort.

Joann needs to fix the pictures. Also, I feel it’s overpriced. I will only buy it on sale.

Beautiful colors. Very warm and soft enough for clothing. Will frog, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Has really nice structure for more decorative stitches. Very happy with this choice.

The yarn is top quality in not just strength, texture, amount on spool but the variety of colors offered. Only wish I could afford every single color and had the space since the spectrum is magnificent and opens up so many creative ideas.

I have been using this yarn in my rigid heddle loom weaved beach bag/market bags for that pop of color in the warp and incredible strength. It only adds beauty to your projects. Plus, when I was unsure of what to use for my first bag I called and spoke to the staff who was incredibly kind and even emailed me a picture of her own project using this yarn.

Top notch service.

I weave a lot of rugs, some rag, so this yarn is a staple in my supplies. I also use it for table runners and matts. It has such a nice hand and weaves up beautifully, and I rarely have problems with warp tangling, even on rep weave where your warp is dense.

It also washes well. My one complaint is color. I would like to see it in more colors, and tints/shades of the colors you do have. I find combining 2+ values of one color gives a richer end product, and more striking contrast.

On the plus side, it’s strong and doesn’t knot up easily. Otherwise, I’m not really a fan. The colors shown on the screen usually differ from what I get–OK, different screens, I understand. But I have bought “smokey blue” and “navy blue” and they were honestly interchangable.

And what’s supposed to be dark green isn’t, not by a long shot. For warp weaving, fine. For inkle looms and card weaving, be prepared to either order lots of different colors to hopefully get what you want, or put up with what you get.

I was surprised that the 11 spools of coral yarn I ordered were from two distinctly different dye lots. Half were light and half were darker. I decided to rethink the baby blanket project I intended them for and use them in spite of the color variation.

I have wound the warp, and I think the differing colors will add depth and interest to the blankets. But it was not a nice surprise when I opened the package. The yarn color is called coral, but to me it seems pink rather than coral.

Overall, nice quality, though, and only one knot so far. Received my order very quickly with good customer service, as always from the Woolery. One spool was on backorder but arrived with a few days.

Happily, it matched one of the first colors.

The colors are true to what I expected. They have enhanced my project and I will be able to use them in many projects to come because of the generous amount provided given the affordable price. I love the feel and quality of this warp yarn.

It is exactly what I needed.

I loved my Schacht Mighty Wolf for almost 20 years. Then we had a house fire and my Mighty Wolf was scorched beyond repair, although I tried. When we rebuilt, I got a shed for my weaving/sewing studio, and since I’m almost 80, I downsized to a Baby Wolf.

My only problem is adjusting to the smaller size, although it fits me better. I have only woven two projects on it, one really a practice test rather than a project, and I’m loving it more and more as I adjust, and get back in the grove after almost a year and a half not weaving at all.

It’s the loom for me, now, since I’m 4’10” and a bit weaker than when I started weaving years ago. I plan on being able to continue to weave into my dottage on this smaller loom.

I purchased the Baby Wolf Loom for my daughter who has a minor in weaving and is trying to start a weaving business. My sales contact at the Woolery was extremely understanding and helpful during the ordering process since I know nothing about looms and dents, etc.

My daughter has been extremely happy with the loom. She said she had no problem with the set up. The loom also folds up if she needs it too which is great for her working space. but she set up right away, no issues and has been weaving since she got it.

She absolutely loves it and says she will be able to weave pretty much anything she wants like she did on the large floor looms at college. So, highly recommend this.

Ich würde mir allerdings mehr schöne gedeckte Farben wünschen! Weiß, Beige, Grautöne sind sehr schön und hab ich auch alle in der Sammlung, was fehlt ist zb ein schönes Ocker, dunkles Rot und Waldgrün etc.

I love the look of the thread after it has been woven. I used a balanced twill pattern in lime and rose, and it changes color as the light moves across it. The feel is amazing!!! I have never woven with Tencel, and the first project surprised me with challenges.

The problem was not with the product, but with the weaver (broken selvage threads, uneven tension, poor warp winding) that cotton forgives. Tencel has given me the opportunity to up my game! Will buy more when the time comes.

I loved my service from the Woolery. My orders are always handled quickly and professionally. However. the Brassard Tencel has been a disappointment. The yarn shreds and I have too many broken threads.

I am an experienced weaver and have used Tencel almost exclusively for years. I don’t see any reasons for the yarn to shred. This is my first experience with Brassard. It was very difficult to make the warp due to the fussiness of the Tencel.

I asked other weavers about Brassard so possibly I have a bad batch. The blue one shreds and the green was way too fuzzy. I have had no problems with the gold. Thank you for letting me vent. Kathi Grupp.

The shopping experience was great!! Easy to order, and the yarn came right away. I am using it to make a scarf in double-weave pick-up – I am actually trying to reproduce something I saw recently online.

I am using a 10 dent reed, 40 threads to the inch, for a width of 8 inches. I have only woven a couple of inches but I am noticing that the thread is ‘felting’ and I have a fuzzy layer over the surface of the work – which I don’t like.

I did some double-weave with 5/2 pearl cotton last year – and it did not ‘felt’ like this – but it is a bit too thick to use for this project. I’d appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thanks, Pete (was not able to add photo).

I love the banana fiber yarn! It’s got such a soft yet interesting texture, and the different colors are so beautiful! I do think that the Coral and Rich Magenta colorways are a little too close to each other to be able to tell the difference well, even side-by-side, so I say just interchange them as you wish–but that’s just me.

My only gripe is that the Kaleidoscope colorway is a different weight, which makes incorporating it into a piece with other banana fiber colorways very frustrating at best. I do hope for a restock soon!.

Really good nice and soft unlike any other yarn I have tried. The colors of these yarns are so vivid. Banana yarn fiber is excellent for completing any art project, or knitting and crochet. I’m into mixed media and jewelry, I it will make my project stands out now that I plan to add other colors and decorations to it.

I highly recommend this yarn.

This was the biggest disappointment. Colors were beautiful but the yarn was so rough and stiff I had to return it. Maybe it would work for a rug or placemats. seems like its durable if nothing else. Fairly thick, I would say a worsted weight.

Not suitable for anything you would wear.

I’m enjoying this yarn very much. It’s both soft and shiny and I have only had one knot in 7 skeins so far. I wish I would have noticed the hand washing only instruction before my purchase as I’m making an afghan.

I’ve read several reviews that say it washes well so I’m wondering if washing is ok but not drying. I might take a chance as the afghan I’m make is huge and if it shrinks that would be ok with me. :).

I love this cotton yarn. I made a coverlet for my bed out of it. It feels like your favorite blanket from childhood. I don’t find it to split very much, and I really enjoy working with it. This would be great for wearables or blankets.

Or any kitchen items.

Had been looking for this perticular color yarn for awhile. Love the color and the softness was and added bonus. I have so many things I wanted to create with it; actually started a couple of projects easy to handle it just glides through my fingers when i crochet.

TranslateShow in original languageDie Wolle häkelt sich recht gut, da gut verzwirnt und ist sehr ergiebig. Sie fühlt sich weich und angenehm an. Allerdings habe ich mein ursprüngliches Projekt, eine Weste mit weich fließendem Fall aus verbundenen Doppel- und Dreifachstäbchen, aufgegeben.

Die Wolle wirkt verarbeitet sehr kompakt und der weich fallende Look war damit nicht zu machen. Auch fehlt mir ein wenig Glanz, die Wolle wirkt stumpf und wirkt eher wie Topflappenwolle. Ich verhäkele sie jetzt alternativ zu einem Sommershirt mit Lochmuster.

Dafür ist die Wolle wohl besser geeignet. Ich würde die Wolle zum häkeln von Kleidung nicht nochmal kaufen.

TranslateShow in original languageIn den vorherigen Bewertungen wurde diese Wolle nur gelobt – dann habe ich wohl eine “Montags-Produktion” erwischt – Knoten in vielen Knäulen und die Wolle ist unterschiedlich dick gewickelt, sodass immer wieder dickere und dünnere Stellen beim Häkeln auftreten, also von einem gleichmäßigen Maschenbild kann ich überhaupt nicht sprechen.

Manchmal kommt es im Leben vor, dass zu allem Unglück auch noch Pech dazu kommt, auch beim Kauf von Wolle ist das so! Schade, dass ich wohl eine extrem schlechte Charge erwischt habe. Allerdings werde ich mein Projekt mit dieser Wolle beenden.

Es wird eine Decke, da ist es nicht ganz so tragisch, dass das Maschenbild Unebenheiten hat.

TranslateShow in original languageHabe mir in der Filiale in Lübeck drei Knäuel in verschiedenen Farben gekauft. Aus einem habe ich schon ein Spültuch gehäkelt. Das Garn ist herrlich weich und lässt sich gut verarbeiten.

Zu den anderen Farben habe ich mir nun noch einige Knäuel dazu bestellt. Daraus möchte ich mir gerne ein paar Oberteile arbeiten.
