20 Best Yarn For Crochet Hats (2023 Updated)

This just doesn’t work. The yarn is as cheesy as you can get, and the Oscar head is too heavy. The head flops around like one of those big balloon figures outside a used car lot. I made this as a gift and I’m too embarassed to give it.

Who doesn’t love Sesame Street! Couldn’t pass this by. Super soft yarn. Simple pattern. Have no doubt it will make a great hat.

It is super cute. But no where in the description did I see that is a knitting only pattern. l know how to knit or do I know anyone who does. Just a little disappointed,but I am going to crochet the hat and put the bird on top.

I plan on making fidget accessories for our senior center. I got the idea when I saw patterns on sale for “fiddle mats, muffs, and cuffs”. These are for Alzheimer and dementia patients because they fidget and it gives their hands something to do.

They incorporate a lot of different small items on the mats, cuffs, and muffs. I bought these yarns for the small items: balls, rings, pom poms, tassels, etc to add to the mats, etc. I thought a lot of colors would add interest.

I count at least 5 different reds that could be used to make cherries. How’s that for interesting? I am really pleased with these,.

One of my favourite bras and styles. I hope it becomes a staple bra design for the brand. I purchased Tawny Port and Rumba Red! Fit is is beautiful and supportive too!

It is comfortable and stylish, but slightly large in the underarms. I had to go up a size to large as the medium bras are a little too tight in the rib cage area, but the large is a little too loose, but it still works!.

I bought some of this yarn to create a baby afghan. I used the blanket stitch to create texture. This yarn is so amazing. The blanket is perfect for a new baby, such a soft fluffy texture you can’t help but feel the baby will be wrapped with lots of love.

One does have to be careful not to pull the threads while crocheting. I made it a habit to use my thumb to protect previous stitches; however, if you do pull a strand of thread, just go below and place your hook under the whole strand and gently pull the yarn back into place.

After washing, it went back into place naturally. Next project will be a cardigan.

With no doubt in mind, Lion Brand Truboo Yarn truly won my heart. I gave it 5/5, because the quality is spectacular. I love making small flowers with this yarn. The color is really the true beauty of this yarn.

The orange may seem neon and may make you not want it but, I was mesmerized how that almost blinding neon color, converted itself into a true form of art when the sun hit it. It was such a beauty it made me fall in love with it.

Ever since I haven’t stopped using it. I love it!! C’est très magnifique!.

Finally, bamboo yarn is becoming accessible! This yarn is super silky and soft. It’s also VERY splitty and slippery. This doesn’t mean the yarn is bad quality–that’s just how bamboo fibers are, and why the yarn feels so smooth and great.

Just be prepared for that. If you have metal hooks or needles, I wouldn’t recommend using them, as the yarn will be even more slippery on such a surface. It’d be worth using tools with a little more grip, like certain types or plastic or wood–maybe even bamboo? I love this yarn, and I love bamboo, and hope to see more bamboo and bamboo blends available.

It’s difficult to work with, but I think the end result–a wonderfully soft garment with a bit of a shine to it–is worth it to me! But it won’t be to everyone. Pure bamboo isn’t as elastic as some other natural fibers, too, so keep that in mind if stretchiness is important to any project you’d like to use it with!.

Gorgeous to knit with. Doesn’t twist or tangle and easy to maintain tension. Lovely and soft too.

It would have been better if the yarn was in its normal shape. It is very hard to work when it is round, as it keeps turning. It takes me about 3/4 of an hour to unroll it. And so far, I had 4 ball with either knots, color issue and other defect.

I am making a shawl, and everything has to be perfect.

The product is exacty what I ordered, however, I didn’t realize that it was different than the one I was looking for. I guess the photo wasn’t large enough for my old eyes. No problem though, as I can still use it.

This yarn is really soft. I really like the color I got It is called Highland Green. I plan I making a vest with it.

I love working with Cascade 220. It’s soft and comes in so many different colors. Love using it to make sweaters for my grandkids.

its very thick and sheds a lot. It is lovely when finished but extremely heavy as a blanket. you have to use a very very small crochet hook with it to get it tight. I would probably never use it again for a blanket.

may use it for edging on crocheted cap or something small.

I bought these cupcakes on clearance for our crochet group to make some hats for the homeless. We make hats, scarves, gloves and leave them at the homeless shelter, battered women’s shelter and also all backed up and left with a note to tell people this package is not lost and to take if they need to stay warm.

Our funds for yarn come just from us and a few donations we have gotten. It feels good to make things for people in need. Winters in Alaska can get real cold!!!.

Adorable concept and great color combos, but I bought 2 different colorways, and both had more than one knot within the skein, one of which completely threw off the color repeat. I hadn’t thought to check for this issue before purchasing because 1) I’ve knitted up several dozen of the regular Cakes, and have NEVER had a knot, and 2) In all the online forums I frequent where this yarn has been discussed, the topic of knots had never come up that I had seen.

Sadly I will not be buying any more Cupcakes, and will keep an eye out to make sure any future Cakes I purchase are continuous.

This product is amazing and the color choices are lovely. The pattern I read online for Caron Cupcakes was for children’s sizes so I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to crochet a beanie for my adult-sized head.

However I was able to crochet a well fitting beanie with an added trim and still have yarn to spare! Very pleased with this product! I will definitely purchase again!.

I am making Casapinka’s Glamping Blanket pattern. First time knitting with Bulky yarn. This is progressing so well, I ordered more skeins of Berroco Vintage Chunky for a second blanket. I’m very happy with the quality of this yarn and the ease of buying it through Alpaca Direct!.

I am kind of leary of types of acrylic yarn. Twice I’ve bought Value Yarn by Craft Smart. First time I was impressed. Value Stripe however combines my favorite color blue with a blending feel of being under the blue sky.

I already crocheted a hat with it and I love the soft warm feel. It really is a great feeling thats above soft, I really think this yarn is perfection not just for look but for your wallet! This color is my favorite thats why I picked it up!.

I don’t know anything about quilting or knitting stuff but I bought this for my wife to use. Apparently this is a very tiny roll of it. I saw her other rolls and they are way bigger. She says it’s all good but I think I bought the wrong stuff.

The actual string seems to be just fine it is a nice light blue color just like the picture.

For years I didn’t understand why this cottonyarn was so popular. It’s a little rough, but many use it for making dish cloths. I recently tried it and really like the way it works up in these market bags.

A great product to work with. I make scrubbies on the 24 peg knitting loom with this cotton and scrubbie yarn. They work up nice and are stretchy until it is sewn together at the end of the project. Lots of colors of bernat cotton to choose from, great product! Highly recommend!.

Lovely tarn to knit with, soft for babies. The mum is vegan! Doesnt want wool products! Once I came to terms with this I found this acrylic to be fine. Consistent width yarn all the way through the balls and love,y colours.

It is lightly spun, it easily unravels but that makes it soft I guess so it is no problem.

Lovely soft wool, beautiful colour. Only problem when crocheting,it does tend to split the ply. But I should think that wouldnt be a problem if knitted instead. Although a lot of other wool has this problem.

Ah Stylecraft Special DK – I always spend a long time looking for good quality affordable yarn. So many choices. And if I look for a particular colour in greater quantity I always end up with Stylecraft Special.

Good quality acrylic, nicely soft, even for baby projects, with great stitch definition. And the colour choice! To be honest I usually ask my husband to choose for me, because I can’t make any reasonable decision with so many gorgeous, saturated colours.

I usually go for strong juicy shades, but this time I’m working with brownish Walnut and it’s simply stunning. It’s going to be a very sophisticated vintage looking sweater.

I love this yarn! Especially this color. Unfortunately, this color is not always available in store. I have made several projects with this yarn. I do wish it was slightly thicker/heavier weight since I use it with other size 6 wool blend yarns, and this is noticeably different.

Hence 4 stars. However, when the finished project comes out it does not seem to be very evident, just while working with it. I do wish this was made in more colors!.

I used this to make a winter scarf and it turned out just beautifully. This yarn is extremely soft and luxurious. It does share the “hairy” characteristic that I have found in all yarns that contain alpaca, but it’s not excessive.
