The violet is better than the lighter purple for my purposes. I am being forced to use 2 of the 10 which is a harder to do – but necessary.

I love this product. I have purchased many colors & am crocheting a few projects for my son’s wedding. This cotton thread is perfect for the dolies & table runner I am making. My future daughter-in-law asked me to crochet a runner for their memorial table & wants to pass it along in the family.

Using aunt Lydia’s product I know the runner will last for many future generations.

I ordered several balls of this yarn to make a blanket with. The colors are really pretty, but the yarn itself is rather flimsy. The plies would separate and sometimes break while I was pushing my needle through the loops.

I see that this yarn has several good reviews, although from what I can surmise, these are from crocheters. Maybe it just holds up better for crocheting than knitting.

I bought half a dozen different colors. I crocheted up potholders for gifts. It works up nicely. I believe my gift recipients will love them. I wish I could post a picture. I made me some too. They wash up great and keep their colors well.

I would recommend this yarn. I plan on buying more.

This yarn is a utilitarian yarn, use it to make towel toppers, tissue box covers, a door knob cover… do not buy this to make a blanket in hopes of snuggling up with on cold winter evenings. Opinion aside, more aggravating than anything is the inconsistent sizes between the different colors.

The light yellow is close to sport weight but the black is almost bulky. The same is not true for darker yellows, golds and oranges but the brown is so thick my H hook consistently misses half of it.

The ratio of the light tan and yellow (but not white) to the blacks and browns (but not dark blue) is 7:6. I use the yarn because it’s cheap and sturdy. I don’t mix colors and don’t recommend it. My recommendation is actually yes BUT ONLY… and since a recommendation should never have a “but” I’m going to say no.

You cannot go wrong with Red Heart Yarn. Good quality for a fair price. And the color selection is amazing. Every color there is in the spectrum. Feels even better after you wash it. Softens the yarn a lot.

I never put any yarn project in the dryer. I leave it flat to dry. So I honestly cannot say if this dries well in the dryer. I do use a bit of fabric softener in the wash and vinegar to make sure all the soap is rinsed out.

I can honestly say that all of my Red Heart projects have held up great over the years. I do a center pull with my yarn until the package falls, then I wind the rest up. Never had any complaints about this yarn.

I chose a blue/green ombre color in this yarn. After knitting just a few rows, I noticed the dye from the yarn was discoloring my fingers! No, my hands were not wet or sweaty. Then I more carefully looked at the label, which says colors may run and the 100% cotton yarn should be dry cleaned, although the pattern on the label is how to make wash cloths.

Really? Lesson learned, and I will never buy this yarn again.

I bought a couple balls of Craftsaver tweed yarn and just loved it. Went back the next week and stocked up for winter projects. It feels so nice as the fabric is worked up. I am very tactile and found this yarn is really a joy to work with.

I guess I could be considered a master at crochet given the 50+ years I have been at it and the variety of items I have made over the years. I know the problems that can occur and I avoid them from the start.

Shortly after receiving a large order of Bernat Velvet Yarn, I began to read about serious problems with this yarn, so I took all recommended strategies to prevent the most frequently cited problems.

looping, holes in the fabric appearing suddenly, knotting, significant unpleasant odor from dyes (little to nothing can be done about that), etc. I made a large prayer/chemo shawl for my friend. Despite my best efforts to mitigate reported problems, the end of my project produced all of the documented problems of looping, holes in fabric, increased dye odors that require multiple washings.

This yarn must be hand washed. It is extremely heavy when wet and it is difficult to extract the absorbed water. Overall, there were more problems with this yarn than any yarn I have worked with in over 50 years.

It is beautiful, but so difficult to mitigate performance problems that it is not worth the risk to ever purchase or work with it again. I will give my remaining stash of 15-20 unopened Bernat velvet yarns away along with full disclosure of substantial risks.

So sad all around. I do NOT recommend this yarn.

I love this yarn! If you are looking for a soft, luxurious yarn that offers a lot of vibrant colors, then you should definitely try Bernat velvet (their crushed velvet and baby velvet is great too). I have not experienced any of the issues that some of the other reviewers have mentioned except for a few minor tangles (which simply take a little patience and some untangling).

I have crocheted one blanket with this and am working on a second blanket. I crochet very tightly, always use a smaller hook than recommended (for this I used a 4. 0 mm hook), and prefer single crocheting.

So, I think a lot of the problems with worming, that other reviewers mentioned, could be avoided by crocheting tightly and not machine washing or drying the finished product. I don’t knit, so I can’t comment on the effectiveness of using this yarn for knitting.

But as far as crocheting, if you can adjust your crocheting technique to fit this type of yarn, then you will get some amazingly soft and beautiful pieces of work. Hopefully Michaels can expand their color selection of Bernat velvet, crushed velvet, and baby velvet yarn.

I was trying to find some soft yarn to crochet a raccoon for my boyfriend for the holidays, so when I found this I thought I would give it a try. I was crocheting with amigurumi, as that’s what the pattern I’m using calls for.

I’ve tried about 6 times now to make a magic ring, and every time I have tried to pull the ring shut, the yarn snaps with just a tiny bit of pressure. DO NOT buy this yarn for amigurumi projects!!!! It also is falling apart, it seems very cheaply made.

The yarn is really just a thread with fur added to it, I believe that’s why it is snapping. Very frustrating, now I have to try and return this yarn to get some that will actually work.

The cotton is excellent quality and available in alot of different colours. I have used the cotton to crochet dish cloth’s which I’ve sold and given to friends and family.

I love this product which I am using to knit dish cloths. My only disappointment so far is that not 1/4 of the way through the pistachio skein I encountered a knot in the yarn where it was joined. I dont expect to have any joins within a skein.

I hope I dont encounter this again.

This is lovely quality and I have been using it to make reusable cleansing pads and dishcloths. Its really lovely and soft.

The colours are fantastic and it’s an easy wool to knit with. I have used it on canvas to make a case for a tablet and am now knitting a jumper. Great wool that doesn’t split, doesn’t break, doesn’t pill.

It’s very good value DK. If you want subtle shades and fancy textures this isn’t for you, but if you want a straightforward acrylic yarn which is useful for a variety of projects and will blend with other DK yarns, this is a good buy.

I use it for crochet blankets, for soft furnishings and pet beds, and it works very well and washes without felting or shrinking. It isn’t scratchy and holds its colour.

Plymouth Encore worsted yarn is my favorite yarn for knitting my hooded baby sweaters because it has the the warmth, softness and springiness of wool without needing special care in the wash. It contains 75% acrylic, 25% wool and is machine washable and dryable, which is important for busy babies.

I love the way it feels in my hands while I’m knitting, and have had no trouble with the stitches splitting. I have tried other yarn for these sweaters (I’ve made over seventy of them. ) but I always come back to Plymouth 75% acrylic, 25% wool.

The tweed, variegated, and “Coffebeenz” Plymouth yarns with the same fiber content share the same good qualities as the Encore. I highly recommend Plymouth yarn for something that needs to be soft, warm, cuddly and washable.

It can take a few froggings and not stick to itself and resist unraveling like some all-wool yarns, and it maintains its overall springiness longer than many other acrylics. Pilling doesn’t tend to be nearly as much of an issue as other similar yarns I’ve used.

As someone who has used this product in various projects (mainly sweaters and afghans), and feels the itch of some wool yarns, I can honestly say I have not experienced itching with Plymouth Encore. It’s the yarn I make my own kid’s and his friends’ dorm afghans out of because I know they can take spills and other abuse, withstand machine wash and dry, and come out looking like new.
