20 Best Xlr Mixer For Streaming (2023 Updated)

Purchased this to donate to church facility. They had an old Mackie CFX12 12 channel mixer that had some channels that were not working. Also 12 channels were just not enough. This mixer takes us up to 22 channels so we don’t have to keep switching cables.

It has 3 Aux outputs instead of just 2 on the old one. This third Aux output was sorely needed. Setup and use were very easy. The users guide (a download from Mackie website) had adequate information and was easy to understand.

Sound quality is great. It connects to and handles all the instruments and vocal mics we are using without issue. There is a USB input/output channel with is especially great if you need mixer output to use for a stream.

We don’t use any of the FX but I did try them out during initial testing of the mixer and it works great. The only thing I wish it had is built in Bluetooth as an input channel so we can use other various devices for audio if needed.

But that is a minor thing since there are so many affordable good quality Bluetooth adapters available. Very, very happy and satisfied with this product.

I bought this mixer to replace a Behringer Xenym QX1002USB, and it has not disappointed. After the channels on the Behringer stopped working, one by one, I was looking for a high quality upgrade. The reviews and extensive YouTube demos of the Yamaha MG 10KU mixer gave me the confidence to order it and since using it I’ve had nothing but positive experiences.

This is not a toy. It is a pro-level quality component that is built to work. I use it primarily for home studio recording, but bought it so that I would have the flexibility to extend to live performances with small groups, if needed.

I mostly record trumpet using a Shure SM57 dynamic mic but I have also tested with a condensor mic using the MG 10KU phantom power. I have also tested with a keyboard and trumpet through a Crybaby Wah pedal.

It works perfectly for all. A few things that I had to work out for myself when recording with a backing track via USB, that differ to the Behringer and are not well documented. 1. With the Line/USB button depressed, the levels and other dials for channels 9/10 control the USB playback into the headphones.

They do not control recording like every other channel, so leaving the dials at the zero position prevents any USB audio monitoring. ; 2. The “To Mon/To St” button must in the raised (monitor) position.

Otherwise the backing track will be looped back in the DAW and recorded. Since working out these things it has been happy sailing.

Used for a simple home studio with guitar, bass, keyboards, mics, electronic drums. I was shopping for separate recording interface and mixer with discrete stereo and monitor busses. Waffled on this and decided to try it for the price.

I have had a few Yamaha mixers now, and the mixing function was as good as I expected, but the USB interface. I was expecting major latency and so-so quality; they didn’t even include the USB cable, a real manual, or helpful info on how to get the interface going, as if it were an afterthought.

Wow, the interface works great! I have it connected to a 1. 8GHz i7 laptop using ASIO driver’s, and it just works with barely noticeable delay. I’m diggin’ it.

With the pandemic it became clear I needed to up my video conferencing gear. Being mostly an acoustic player with vocals and a second guitar and vocalist, I wanted to be able to handle at least 4 mics.

This mixer got great reviews. The sound is very clean. That’s what I wanted. What I didn’t like was how hot the back of the unit would get. I measured 115 degrees with a digital thermometer. Heat is not a friend to solid state devices.

Computers too. It really bugged me. I have the mixer sitting on top of a metal riser used for computer monitors. The riser is perforated and sits 6″ above my desk. There is plenty of air around the mixer.

This is my second unit. I returned the first because of the same issue. No one at the store had heard of the heat issue with this mixer. Previously is had a Allen & Heath mixer that was pretty good. It never got hot.

After seeing this happen, I would now guess this heating up of the mixer is a common issue with it. It makes me question the longevity of the mixer. How long can it go before the heat begins to affect the internal parts? Something will eventually fry.

I’ve read mixed reviews of this mixer. Most of the negative reviews are due to the USB digital recording interface is only a 2 channel stereo output. In my opinion, that complaint is invalid. All it takes is a little research to determine that fact before the purchase.

This mixer does exactly what it was designed to do; does it well and at a great price. I have been Behringer sound equipment for many years. I currently own at least 15 Behringer in my professional sound system.

Behringer products are designed in Germany. For the most part, they are very well designed. They pack a lot of features in small packages and keep the cost down by having them manufactured in China. Like any other electronics components, there will be a certain percentage with problems.

Granted, the build quality would be more consistent if they were built in Germany, where they are designed; or even in the US. However, the cost to the user would be much greater. So. I’ll take the chance on an occasional defective component.

Overall, my experience with Behringer pro sound equipment has been very positive and the Xenyx QX2442USB mixer serves me well. I use it to mix down drums/keyboards in large groups. I also use it as a practice board for my own band.

I haven’t used the recording feature yet; but the fact that it isn’t designed for multi-track recording with the USB interface, doesn’t both me at all. Since channels 1-8 have direct-out jacks, you can still use it for multi-track recording if you need to.

This board has a really smooth sound. Totally silent. Very very low footprint. I would highly recommend this mixer. It’s awesome. I would only say that I wish I had more aux sends and sub-groups, but that’s not a shortcoming of this board, that my fault for not buying a bigger board lol.

These mixers have it all and you can’t buy any other brand with this kind of quality for this price. I own one and I love it. I’ve had mine about 2 yrs. with no problems. I own several Behringer products and have not had any problems.

I used to have a Mackie 1604 mixer and it is not as good as this mixer. Behringer is just beginning to become known in my area and people are unsure of things they haven’t tried. Best value out there.

Ok, I am a noob. So I had to watch a lot of videos to figure out how to work this thing. But I couldn’t be happier. The MG12XU does everything I need, and a lot of things I didn’t even know I about. The MG12XU is the lowest level Yamaha to have faders and on/off buttons for each input.

The beauty of glancing at the mixer and seeing not only which inputs are active, but what level each one is at – sold me on this model. Having different color knobs also helps a lot, but it still took me a while to figure out which ones I needed to too twiddle to get the sound I was looking for.

I like the PFL buttons, so I can hear and modify one or more inputs in my headphones. I love that it comes with a USB input so I can use my MacBook or iPad to play recorded music, or to record what’s coming out of the mixer.

Three issues with that, though: 1) it doesn’t come with a cable. Fortunately, my printer has one that I don’t need any more because I print wirelessly. 2) Why is it USB-B? I’d have much preferred USB-C, so it could plug into my devices without dongles.

3) the output from the mixer is a single stereo channel, not 12 individual channels. I realize that’s difficult if not impossible to accomplish, but it would have been nice. My other gripe is the Cubabsis software.

It hung up trying to connect and validate. Now t crashed on startup every time. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled, but my ability to use Cubasis is, well. stalled. In the end, though, I love this mixer.

It works for recording. It works for practicing. I works for the small gigs we do. It is powerful, versatile, and it can do everything I need it to do. The effects are great, and it is a joy to use. I definitely recommend the Yamaha MG12XU.

One tip: Look for a package deal from Sam Ash. I got the mixer, a mic stand, two mics, two cables and a set of headphones for ten dollars less that the mixer alone. You have to work a little to find that deal, though.

Absolutely love this mixing desk for a number of reasons. Firstly I can say from experience (having owned a smaller version for many years and hundreds of gigs) that these mixers are incredibly reliable, the sound quality is outstanding (Yamaha use the same high quality components as they do on their large desks), the one-knob compressors on the first four channels are very effective and ideal particularly for vocals or guitars to keep the levels under control, the effects unit sounds amazing and has a wide range of useful effects besides reverbs and delays, there is no bespoke power supply, just a simple IEC kettle type lead, so no problem if that breaks to replace it.

The main output sockets are XLR and jack (and you can simultaneously use both), with a separate group out for monitor speakers There’s a lot more you could say and if you want a full tech spec, I would read through the official one.

But personally I do think these are the best mixers for the money and I wouldn’t consider going with alternative (just my opinion and experience – I’m sure there are other great mixers out there too – not dissing them).

This is my second small Yamaha mixer because previously I had the smaller version of this one for a lot of years and it was fantastic and completely reliable but unfortunately it got damaged when it was knocked to the floor – so I had to replace it and decided to go with this larger version which is superior in a number of ways, besides the additional channels, having faders rather than knobs for the channel levels.

This thing is rocking my livestreaming world right now! Being able to use this multi-channel audio in/out for my iPad is perfect for live recording of shows. Doing the same with my Mac for webinars is perfect.

Surprisingly durable yet lightweight. All the features you need and none of the ones you don’t!.

Overall versatility is great. Sound quality is great. Im using it for home recording and broadcasting. The lines are quality. Crystal clear and strong. Great console.

Aside from the well built chassis, good-quality inputs and great feel of the knobs and buttons, the sound quality is AMAZING to me. My reference point is a 2005 Presonus Firebox 24 bit/96KHz with preamps and a similar setup in terms of inputs.

The same routing of the same instruments and mic produced, as stated, an amazing difference in quality of sound and average gain levels on the Yamaha.

Clean effortless sound with useful EQ frequencies unlike many consoles. The “warmth” from the Bass and the “air” from the Treble controls are immediately easy to use intuatively. The instrument dedicated input on channel 2 is ultra handy.

A big selection of great sounding , reverbs and delays also unlike many other consoles. Just the right amount of inputs and features for a solo performer with guitar with or without backing tracks. All inputs and outputs on the top surface necessitate the use of right angle phono jacks if possible to keep the work surface clear but that’s only a little bit annoying.

Alesis has two models of the Multimix4, but only one model has ‘FX’. The picture is showing the ‘Alesis MultiMix 4 USB’, not the ‘Alesis MultiMix 4 USB FX’ as described in the listing. There is no ‘FX’ button on the picture attached to the product listing.

Also, the features list notes the following feature: ’15 DSP effect variations include reverb, delay, chorus, and more’ which is a feature of the ‘Alesis MultiMix 4 USB FX’, not the model shown in the picture.

I would like to order, but can not use the non-FX model.

Finally found something to replace using the mic/line in and headphone out of my legacy laptop with just USB and it’s perfect. I run my bass guitar and stereo vocal effects along with midi or YouTube videos on my pc seamlessly to jam with.

Alesis has always made great stuff, this one for sure.

This is a very nice small mixer at a great price. It has some pro features like bigger and more expensive boards have, but at a significantly lower price. The board has 2 single channels with EQ 2 stereo channels with EQ and two RCA inputs to use with a computer or other stereo output.

This mixer has two channels with a high impedance and a low impedance mic input. It also has a studio bus out and a stereo headphone out as well. It comes with a simple “quick start” guide which is easy to understand.

It’s actually a small mixer with 6 discrete channels, but at this price with its features and sound quality, it’s a very good buy.

What can I say, but exceptional unit. Setting it up for the first time, on a live gig, it was so compact, I felt like a little kid with a toy up against the big guys and their larger mixers. But the unit is just small in size, not in function.

For my live recording gigs, I just need two microphone inputs, and the ability to mix the two microphones coming in as X/Y stereo image into a digital recorder. The unit was perfect, without being large just for the sake of being large.

When it comes to my recording gigs, size isn’t the issue. Transporting the equipment, storage, and the biggest thing, what I do carry needs to serve a purpose in the most size/purpose/value/quality ratio.

In my gigs, more bang for the foot-print is the key, and this unit fits that bill perfectly. Small, compact, but full-featured. The big guys were impressed as well. I came in and set up, all the while, they were mask-giggles as the size wasn’t impressive to them, until the gig started.

My tiny foot-print and what I could do with it, had them gawking. Sound is spot on, quality of unit is great, its just hard getting over the compactness of what the unit can do. Extremely good size/quality ratio on this unit.

Would highly recommend this mixer to anyone who doesn’t have concerns with size matters issues, but, who does care what they carry has to do pull its weight in the live arena. Let the guys who need a whole truck load of roadies to get their equipment moved in and out laugh.

The two Aux Returns have no level control–the sound level must be controlled by external means. There is an Aux Send master dial, but that doesn’t necessarily make up for the lack of a Return control.

In any case, an Aux Send master is just not needed on a mixer of this size, and it’s a waste of electronics and real estate. It’s also missing a power switch. What were they thinking?.

I needed a vocal mike pre-amp for performing at company picnics. This mini-mixer has one built in, For the price I paid for this device as a vocal pre-amp I literally got the mixer functions for free.

Connected to my 20W combo amp, this device makes all the difference in being able to be heard when performing my folk music sing-along at large outdoor gatherings such as at company picnics. The unit arrives in a large well-padded box that is too bulky to carry along on gigs.

So, using corrugated cardboard and duct tape, I fabricated a box for the device that allows me to carry it in my gear bag with my cables, pedals and mike box without fear of breaking any of the knobs or even of changing any of the settings of those knobs.

I wish Harbinger had thought ahead and provided such a carrying box made of plastic and lined with foam rubber similar to the boxes that come with many microphones. But they didn’t. =(.

I also own this model’s bigger sibling, the MG10XU 10-Channel Mixer. Wanted something I could use for a solo act that would be a little more portable. This item fits the bill nicely. It’s small enough to mount on a mic stand (I use a boom attachment on my main stand so I don’t have to carry an extra stand) and has the same preamps, etc.

as its big brother. I run the output to a pair of Electro Voice ZAXA81 powered speakers. Inputs are either a Shure SM58 or Audio-Technica AE5400 mic through one channel, and a Taylor 714-CE with a K&K mini pickup through the other.

All get excellent sound through the MG06-X. Regarding effects, I only use a touch of reverb; this unit’s sounds fine to me. There are a three points to consider if you’re looking at the MG06x vs other choices.

1. ) The MG06 does not have a midrange EQ control. 2. ) Its effects are relatively limited. (You only get three reverb and three delay choices). 3. ) There are no pan controls on the channels. Instead, a push button select switch allows you to choose between mono and stereo modes.

For me, these limitations weren’t an issue. Overall, I’ve found this to be a very reasonably priced, good-sounding, and portable unit. I’d buy it again.

After a lot of research I ended up this gear for my home vocal practice sessions with Karaoke track. I can tell with certainty that this is one of my best purchases as ever. The reverb for the vocals is exceptional.

I have never heard my voice so clear and crisp. Got this on a special offer coupled with a Samson headphone so now I can setup my own practice pad without disturbing others. Also tried hooking up my guitar to it and very satisfied with that as well.

I do not use any amp just connected to a decent quality desktop speakers. Overall very good product and I am going to try hooking up more instruments and hoping for the same great performance.

Great for expanding small pa that has limited channels. Preamps provide the power to plug two guitars to the single line level input on the pa. Very good quality. Consider the less expensive model if you do not need the minimum special effects.

Hadnt owned a Yamaha mixer in years and was a bit skeptical about purchasing one but needing the 6 monitor outs. Well I could not be more pleased that I made this choice. This mixer is absolutely 2 thumbs up.

The sound quality is amazing and very easy to operate. Great sound FX and clean delivery.

Great board packed with features. Compressor/FX/eq. All very easy to use. The Ipad software is great and intuitive. Preamps are great. Was not expecting so much of an improvement in sound quality over my old board.

Only complaint is I wish I could assign the onboard EQ to the aux sends. Not that big of a deal. Have used it for live sound only. Time will tell on how well it handles being moved around for live gigging but I can’t find a case out there since it is fairly new on the market so am building one.

Also, wish companies would stop claiming 24 channels on these boards. This is a 16 channel board from the standpoint of the live band application. The other “8” stereo channels just add bulk to the board for my use and let yamaha call it a 24 channel board.

By far the best mixer I have ever used. 4bus for many applications, controlled by iPhone, record to usb … absolutely the best with analog and digital combined .

First off I have owned a Behringer XENYX X1222USB mixer for five years and it is a five star piece of equipment. So when I needed a second smaller more portable mixer for basic playback and mic mix I thought this would have the same quality with less features, I was wrong.

It has a external power supply which is fine except where the supply plugs into the back of the mixer is not very secure and comes unplugged very easy and often, to the point that I am going to glue or RTV it in.

The knobs are not the same quality, I get fuzz, static and pops out of them whenever I adjust them, especially the volume. It did not come with any rubber feet so it would just slide around until I found some to install.

The worst part is the overall sound quality. I swapped this into my system and it sounded like something was missing. I set everything to null on both mixers and swapped them around and there is definitely a big difference in output, more noticeably on the low end.

I can adjust for it and make it sound okay but I shouldn’t have too. There are more little problems with it but it is just too much to list. Behringer makes some excellent stuff but their low end mixers are garbage.

Knowing what I do now I would only buy the 1204 or better if buying Behringer. The only good thing that I can say about this mixer is that mine has been quiet, there has never been any hiss or hum.

UPs: Generally good. Quiet electronics. Does nice job with quality studio mics. USB interfaces to Audacity recorder, as well as Zoom, and other internet conferencing systems easily. Recorded output and audio reports are very good.

DOWNs: Power supply plug is difficult to seat so it does not pop out. Is susceptible to MF and HF RFI and does not provide a good grounding point. Dont use around radio gear that operates below 4. 000 MHz without extra RFI measures.

I’m a 10-year professional audio engineer and musician. Needed a little mixer for live/field applications so I was tempted by the Xenyx because of it’s incredible features: compression, aux sends, 3-band EQ, phantom and USB interface.

I liked Behringer’s Eurorack range well enough, so I thought I’d take a chance on the Xenyx. Everything this mixer attempts to do, it does quite badly. The pre-amps are noisy and very hot – the compression works but is not very nice, the EQ is fine.

But the mixer I got was just noisy, even with nothing in any channel and all the pots down it emitted a loud hiss. Even worse was the USB connection – the set up was great, plugged it in to a PC and Windows 7 installed the drivers.

Tested it directly into Adobe Audition (the only DAW I had handy) and the hiss was even louder. More troubling was that when panning channels via USB, left kills the signal completely, and right overloads the output.

I’m guessing the panning circuits are from another model with busses and they didn’t bother to configure it for USB. The analog-digital conversion sounded okay, but hard to judge with all the hiss. The unit I received also had some power issues – the power adapter plug didn’t fit very well into the unit and the power crackled and blinked out.

The compressor pot on channel 2 did the same thing, crackling and making the power intermittent. BUT – I would recommend this to anyone starting out in audio – for a very low price it gives you a lot of functionality that you’d be hard-pressed to find on a board twice it’s price.

Its not professional, but its got all the features of a large pro board.

The Yamaha MG12XU mixer has an extremely well thought out layout. The designers appear to have carefully considered how small venues would use a small mixer. * The first four channels are ideal for voice, with compression via a single-knob that adjusts the ratio from 1:1 to 4:1 (attack, release, etc.

preset at typical vocal settings). * Channels 5/6 and 7/8 are stereo channels, but double as two extra mono mic channels. The EQ section is good, but I wish it had EQ bypass for when you want the simplest signal path possible.

* Channels 9/10 and 11/12 are stereo line level ins, and 11/12 can be switched to instead manage the input from the USB digital input. The effects section has several decent-sounding reverbs. Probably because Yamaha felt compelled to use everything the chip set provides, it also has modulation effects, distortion, and pitch shiftingnot the most useful effects for a PA, or even for recording, but they don’t get in the way.

Signal routing is excellent–a main stereo buss and secondary group, two aux busses, monitor out and headphone out. Aux 2 doubles as a send to the internal effects. It has PFL (pre fader listen), an excellent feature that lets you listen to only the pre-fader signal from one or more selected channels.

I wish the channels had ‘solo’ buttons, which let the user hear a single channel with all its EQ and effects. I also wish that PFL affected the main output, not just the headphone out. On all these wishes, however, I get that Yamaha was striving for a balancewanting to provide pro-level features while not overwhelming casual users.

I like that it is made in Indonesiathat nation has its problems, but isn’t a repressive, exploitative state like China.

This is a very capable mixer for desktop use. 4 busses allow a lot of versatility with how audio is routed. I upgraded from a relatively compact mixer so having actual faders for each channel is nice as is having a dedicated ON toggle for each.

Everything seems of high quality and they’ve even figured out a way to prevent a loud pop on power on/off. I will say that it is a large mixer at 12 x 16 inches. You need to have the desk space for it.

I went to GC in Fort Collins, CO to pick up a simple mixer for controlling my growing group of synths. I was directed toward the on sale Yamaha MG10XUF as it was on sale for less than the version without the faders.

The D-Pre mic preamps were a nice plus, but at the time not something I was honestly concerned about as I was focusing on clean lines for synths. Upon hooking the thing up, I realized just how far the tech has come in the last 20 years.

I’ve used plenty of old mixers in the past, but this thing was far superior! There are multiple points to prevent bleed through and unnecessary coloration of channels. Each channel is dead silent. The knobs and faders are grade A! They are responsive and have the perfect amount of resistance to them to make them easily controllable.

I was immediately impressed. Then came the sound. I plugged in my Moog Grandmother, Sub Phatty and Behringer Model D. Then I plugged in my Yamaha monitors (HS8’s). After a quick video to learn to get every line set properly for my preferred use, I set up the first line up and got to hear that Grandmother through those HS8s for the first time.

Do you remember in the movie National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, where Chevy Chase plugs in the lights, and they finally turn on and “hallelujah!” everything in the world is amazing, astonishing, surreal? That was the feeling I got when I heard that Grandmother sing through those monitors.

The kids came running downstairs and my son couldn’t wait for his turn. He and I added the second line with the Sub Phatty and started hitting notes to find a good balance between the two. We’re screaming at each other the entire time “This is awesome!!!” It was like we had won enough cash in Vegas to pay for the trip.

Holy smokes, Batman! The lines were clear as day, the synths sounded absolutely phat and incredible. It was EXACTLY what I needed and honestly more than I’d hoped for. I see what you did there Yamaha.

you created a memory I’ll never forget.

I’m in radio and, while COVID-19 is taking its course, I’m producing voice spots for automation upload in a converted bedroom closet voice-over booth. The small mixer I started with a couple months ago, a Mackie 402VLZ4, worked well enough amplifying my Aston Stealth mic, but the headphone section on that one refused to drive even the most efficient set of cans beyond a whisper.

This was surprising, since that was never a problem with previous/larger Mackies I’ve owned. The station briefly loaned me some specialized equipment for remote live broadcasting experiments and included in that package was a Yamaha MG10 mixer.

Not only did the mic pres sound great on that one, but I could actually hear myself clearly through the ‘phones. So, I took a chance and ordered an MG06 for myself. I’m happy to report that the MG06 has the same excellent sound of the MG10 and, yes, the headphone section allows you to actually hear yourself – or whatever else you happen to be recording – loud and clear.

When we get back to the point where live concerts are common again (I moonlight by making XY stereo recordings of chamber music for friends in nice acoustical spaces,) I’m anxious to hear what the MG06 will do there.

The other criteria important to me is the ability to run my gear off battery power at times. While the larger MG10 needs 18VAC and would require an outboard inverter to go untethered, the smaller MG06 is 12VDC and can easily mate with any reasonably-sized lithium battery power bank.

Phantom power on the MG06 is also, apparently, a full 48V. There much to like here in a clean-sounding and well-built package at a bargain price.

My Bose TS4 mixer stopped working on a Friday as we were getting ready to start playing. We had to apologize, break down our equipment and pack up without pay for the evening. I had a gig at 1 pm the very next day.

I stopped at Sam Ash literally a half hour to purchase a new mixer. The young man showed me and recommended this Yamaha mixer. So far it is working great after 5 or 6 gigs. Simple to use also. Thank you!!!.

Good sound, low distortion, musical EQ, rugged and reliable. The only thing I’m not thrilled with is the wall-wart power supply, which is only a minor nuisance. But that’s a compromise manufacturers use to skirt UL listing hassles and expense, thereby keeping the price low.

It?s a cool little mixer, very solid construction. Feels very robust. My only complaint is that it doesn?t had a control for mid frequencies. I used it for a couple of DJ gigs and it saved my bacon one night.

The person that was supposed to bring me the special music for a special even brought the music on a beat up old android cell phone that wasn?t active with any service. The headphone 3. 5mm Jack was not working right and making all kinds of static and crackling noises.

I was trying to figure out how to save the event for the young lady the party was for. It hit me stream the music via Bluetooth to my mixer and problem solved. So that?s exactly what we did. Streamed it Bluetooth and it worked with no problems.

It is a very basic mixer, so don?t expect any bells and whistles. It sounds good for what it is. The price was great as I got it on sale and paid less than the regular price. Since then it?s been thru a handful of gigs and I?m about to use it to record and I?ve got no serious complaints.

This mixer should last me for a long while as I can use it to record voice overs and similar stuff.

Arrived as promised. Very simple and straight-forward design and easy to use. I primarily use it to practice against a recording on an iPad. Input volume is lower when using Bluetooth than using a cable to connect it to a channel.

Also, the headphone output isn’t very loud so all inputs have be cranked up to maximum. Seems like there should be a way to boost the headphone signal.

This is a replacement for an 802 that I bought new from Guitar Center six years ago. That’s why I had the exact power supply on hand. One channel went bad and the new units are nearly double the price now.

Six years out of a low end mixer is a good value to me. It lives on an end table and has never left the house so I can’t say if it’s road worthy or not. Used mainly as a headphone amp, I have the PC, a TV and a Stratocaster all running into it.

There are additional stereo inputs for a keyboard and an effects loop that can be used as yet another input. The output is routed into my Altec PC speakers so I can watch football and practice guitar at volume when she’s not home.

Otherwise I use the headphones. Everything is hardwired, no repatching or plugging needed.

The GOOD: well built steel case, rugged unit, good mic preamps, 4 sets of British EQs, doesn’t take up much space in your gig bag or performance area. The BAD: Behringer is infamous for power supplies burning out in 12 to 18 months time and for me always in the middle of a gig.

Because of the ridiculous pin connection to the unit, no other manufacturer sells a power supply that is compatible. Do yourself a favor and just order a replacement now as they aren’t too expensive.

Next, the bottom gain controls are NOT supported by the case but merely the circuit board inside. Over time they will bend, get static, cut in and out and make that channel useless. I keep switching input channels until there are no good ones left.

Conclusion: I bother with these known shortcomings as the price point is excellent and the unit does a great job with vocals and background music for my small bar trivia events. After going through 2 or 3 power supplies, the unit has a lifespan of about 3 to 4 years with weekly use.

This unit really muffled the sound of the speakers when I FINALLY found a way to hook them up. I wanted to use it for the received signals from my ham radio equipment and filter some unwanted tones, but when I transmitted, it also made nasty feedback sounds.

I’m not a sound engineer but I have been playing with related projects for 40 years. The setup looked pretty easy until the connections were made and didn’t work. I could never get both sides of my headphones to play at the same time, either.

The MGP32X replaced an aging Mackie 32-channel mixer which was cutting out intermittently after many years of service in our contemporary worship service. Our Sound Committee, which is made up of different sound technicians and musicians, selected this mixer over five other more-expensive analog mixers and a competitor’s hybrid model.

After two worship services with two different people at the mixing board so far, we find this board just as easy to use as the old Mackie; plus, the MGP32X is loaded with other features to help control volume and to enhance the sound.

Many have complemented us about this mixer sounding so much better than our old mixer!.

I purchased this board for our bands FOH mixer. We used it for our gig at an outdoor event recently. We hired an experienced sound engineer with touring experience to mix our show. Our sound engineer could not stop talking about how easy this board is to use.

He likes the analog ease and the digital functionality of the board. I had a chance to go in front to listen to a couple of solo performances from our keyboard player and all I can say is WOW, WOW and WOW.

A good mix is a combination of good equipment and a good sound engineer, fortunately we have both. This board was a great purchase and I would recommend it to anyone.

I have been using this 1202FX mixer for about 7 months now. Bought it new from Amazon. I have one major complaint about it. There is a harsh shrill LOUD zapping electrical buzz that roars into my speakers whenever I engage the FX button on 2 of the line input channels.

(5-6 & 7-8)I am not talking about a ground hum or hiss or background noise. This is so loud that it is all that you hear and it is nasty. Like something is frying the circuit. I cannot use the effects on this unit because of this problem.

Its always been there since I bought it. I should have sent it back but time ran out on that before I discovered the issue. I cant recommend this mixer because I have seen other complaints online for the exact same problem as mine.

No idea what it could be but its horrible. The two stars I’m giving are for the price and the compact size. Functionally I have to say zero stars.

This Behringer Xenyx 1202FX is a great little mixer for simple home mixing, or for a live single or duo act. It has 4-XLR mic inputs, all with an Input Gain, High-Mid-Low EQ, and a digital FX processor for vocal and/or instrument reverb.

There are 2 more stereo input channels, though they do not have Input Gain or EQ, only FX and Level controls. Though you can use these channels for a keyboard or guitar input, as long as you have EQ on your keyboard or your guitar, and do not play to loudly.

You can also use these 2 extra channels for running tracks for your single or duo. You can also use the Control Room Stereo Outputs to feed a recording device, to record your performance for live demos.

I use this mixer in my keyboard-computer room, to record my classical music from my Kurzweil K 2500 to a rack mount CD recorder. Then I upload my music to my You Tube channel. It’s not a super sophisticated audio set up, though it works well for what I need.

I have a couple of these. I also have a larger board, and have owned many others as well as powered PA heads for all-in-one versatility. I should mention that I have been a musician for over 40 years.

I have seen PA systems evolve from little more than a cheap guitar amp with multiple inputs (2) right up to today’s endless channels (I’ve seen one with 78 channels) with automation and wi-fi and bluetooth and interfacing with i-phones.

Be assured, this little Behringer won’t do all that, but for what I use it is quite good. Also bear in mind that these are delicate instruments. I put mine into a padded plastic handgun case to secure it in transport.

The sound quality is fantastic! Remember that a mixer will not fix a bad amp, a blown speaker or anything else that may not be up to specs in your system or connections. I use one for recording into a laptop with beyond excellent results.

I have taken recordings back and forth between a professional studio to home and back again doing edits and you cannot tell where I made the changes, not even on the 25 thousand dollar system in studio! I use one often for an open-mic at a coffee house where we have approximately 12-15 performances per night.

Each soloist/duo/trio and band has different sounds and needs, and this only fails when I runout of inputs. I have had to resort to using a line mixer to sub group into in those situations where I needed 10 mics and it still worked well.

The only complaints I have are that the power plug in can be insecure, I use velcro wire ties to hold it to the snake wires so it won’t slip out, and they should make a power switch to turn on/ off. For the money, it would be very hard to match or surpass the sound and flexibility!.
