20 Best Xbox Controller For Warzone (2023 Updated)

I don’t own an Xbox, but I do play PC games from Steam on a Windows 10 PC from time to time. I’m not really a dedicated gamer, so I pretty much need a console style controller. Fortunately, Microsoft makes their Xbox controllers compatible with Windows 10.

I purchased this new model primarily because the older version I had with a micro-USB connection was unreliable – coming loose at inopportune times and finicky when plugging in. That was the only flaw of the previous model, but it was worth an upgrade for me.

Other noticeable differences are the textured grips (slight if unnecessary improvement), a newly styled D-pad (I find no difference), slightly different contour on the top (cosmetic only), and a Share button.

As far as I can tell the Share button serves no purpose for Windows 10 (it appears to be an Xbox feature only, at least for now). I had questions upon ordering this updated controller; after a few hours of play, here are the answers: Yes, this controller is compatible with the Microsoft Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 and all of its features.

Yes, the original Xbox One Play and Charge Kit works with this newer model controller, as do the cheaper 3rd party alternatives. The micro-USB cable that originally came with these kits will not be compatible, so useany USB-C cable you have.

There does not appear to be an available USB-C cable that has a charge indicating light to work with these play & charge kits. Yes, there is a way to determine the controller’s battery level when using on a PC.

With the controller connected to the PC, open the Xbox Accessories app/program (free from the Microsoft store) and find the battery level there. It must be connected wirelessly to read the battery level; it will just say “Plugged in” if using the cable.

Yes, all previous peripherals (except for micro-USB cables) seem to work perfectly with this new controller. And finally, yes, the USB-C connection is wonderful. It’s easy to connect, stable, and responsive.

I like the fact that there is no indicator LED as I often play in the dark.

I’m using this for Windows 10 and games like minecraft/vrchat/skyrim VR It’s beautiful and is reminiscent of the awesome N64 controllers. But these are not as well built as the previous generation controllers.

Plastic feels weak, I had to pop one of the seams back in place and the seams are sharp edges. It feels like they really cheapened out on their manufacture of the case, probably the same as the $20 light-up controllers.

The plastic is also creaky. So far thats the only problem I have with this. Microsoft really needs to put quality into controllers because PS4/PS5 ones are better in this regard. -Comes with 2 Duracell AA batteries.

The battery compartment is cheap, doesn’t include a label showing the direction of the batteries. You have to look at the and – signs. Microsoft did this one wrong because though the batteries are put in alternating directions; the compartment makes it look like both batteries go the same direction.

-Firmware Update You will need to connect via Micro-USB on Windows 10 and update the firmware with the ‘Xbox Accessories’ app in the Microsoft store app. You have to take the batteries out of the controller before doing this.

I had to disconnect bluetooth and do it three times before it worked. -Audio Audio is a 3. 5mm port which is the standard one you get on normal headsets *not* the old 2. 5mm for xbox 360. You can only use CTIA compatible headsets with this, There are some OMTP headsets that can be adapted to CTIA.

Bluetooth will not deliver audio on Windows 10. It does work with Micro-USB or the USB Xbox wireless adapter, but it’s hard to get the right adapter (Lots of counterfits on Amazon). You’d want the modern small xbox usb wireless adapter from Microsoft, but they’re out of stock currently.

Stereo audio via Micro-USB is 2 channel 26 bit 48000Hz, Microphone is 1 channel 16 bit 24000Hz, works pretty well. -Compatability Steam and other games recognize the controller, so I would imagine it works elsewhere.

These controllers do have a unique ID over bluetooth in reported data so programs like game emulators can save the controller config. Comes with a 15 day xbox game pass. I’m not a console gamer so first person to get it here’s the code: V9GT6-44DY4-MGQ6G-T3XTY-CF2XZ.

I used the controller for about a week, so I can’t tell you exactly how well it will work after a year, but I might give you an idea. ## Comfort I used PlayStation controllers for most of my life, but my hands would get really tired after some time.

No such thing happens with this controller, it just feels great. ## Buttons and layout D-Pad is fine, some people complain that it’s loud… and it is, but I enjoy it using it. ABXY and joysticks are all good, nothing to complain about.

I was used to PlayStation layout, but after a minute of using, it already felt right, you shouldn’t have a trouble adapting to it. ## Features There aren’t really any many new features like with DualSense, but if you plan on gaming on a PC, it won’t matter anyway.

Rumble feels fine, nothing fancy. ## USB connection It uses USB Type-C and it will work for you out-of-the-box on Windows and Linux. It apparently should also be painless on macOS. ## Bluetooth Windows works fine, but on Linux… first-time connecting is problematic.

First, make sure you are using Linux 5. 12+. If you are not using 5. 12+, you will have to disable ERTM. After that I had to make a Windows VM in virt-manager and redirect my Bluetooth controller to it (it will likely show up in the USB redirect with some generic “USB controller” name, but just check `lsusb` and the ID for your Bluetooth card) and then pair the Xbox controller in the VM.

After doing so, you can unredirect your Bluetooth card and close the VM. From now on, you should be able to connect to the controller without any issues on your computer. If you are having connection issues on any OS, it is recommended to update the firmware with the Xbox Accessories app on Windows.

The only issue I found is that it might have incorrect button mapping on Linux like R1 being mapped to Start (which can fixed by using xpadneo driver or you can just rebind the keys on Steam or something).

## Build quality It’s great, feels solid and not like a toy. ## Longevity The controller accepts AA batteries, which means that you can easily replace them. The Xbox One controller still works with Xbox Series, so this controller is likely to also be supported in the next generation.

Both of these things are not true with PlayStation. Sony dropped support for DualShock with PS5 and doesn’t accept AA batteries, which is terrible, because batteries will degrade quick. If you care about using your controller for a long time, go with Xbox.

## Conclusion Even though I’m not a Microsoft fanboy (far from it), they make great controllers. You can’t go wrong with it.

Good controller, it’s a slight update from the existing xbox One controller. Physically it feels the same as my old controller. Buttons feel good not too soft and not super clicky like some 3rd party controllers.

There is a slight change to the battery door, the old door it is angled slightly to the front of the controller and where it meets the bezel at the charge port it sweeps out: the new xbox Series X/S controller it’s more straight without the bent sweep by the bezel it feels more flush to that bezel.

Rechargable battery, the original charge and play battery pack from Microsoft will indeed fit in this controller, you do have to use a USB-C cable to charge it but it does work and does charge, you lose the tiny charging light indicator though (it was removed even on the new play and charge kit from MS).

Any USB-C cable will work with this controller same as they do with any android phone/tablet or game console that uses USB-C. Now what I don’t like is how clicky the D-pad is, I like the feel of the D-pad I just don’t like how noisy it is, it also feels like it hangs up on something internally if I try to make full circles with it.

This may smooth out with repeated use. I got mine in White to match my computer case and I do like the fact that the front bezel is also white. I also like the A, B, X, Y buttons being colored and not the same color as the blue, neon green, and red controllers.

All in all it’s a solid controller with very minor upgrades and cosmetic changes.

The Robot white Xbox Series X controller is much like your previous generation controllers at first glance. However with the integration of Microsoft’s new share feature, the share button sits at the heart of the controller.

This is used for clipping gameplay moments that backtrack 5 minutes. I’m not sure how useful this is for the everyday gamer, but I’m sure it will be useful for streamers and content creators on consoles.

Once you’ve got your hands on the controller itself you’ll notice an immediate difference. Where the whites of your fingers hold the underside of the device, you’ll notice a tactile grip that is comfortable to hold and non slip.

This grip is also present on the trigger and bumper buttons as well as the sides of the analogue sticks. Much like the last generation of Xbox controllers, these also have a sleek matte finish. One important detail to note if you are buying one of these for the PC is that you will have to update the controllers firmware via USB Type C, otherwise you will encounter connectivity issues with Bluetooth.

P. S. Microsoft have yet to make a controller that has integrated rechargeable batteries, a little disappointing when the addon for a rechargeable is $50 when you can buy a PS5 Pro controller for $130.

Not wanting to unplug my Razer Wolverine V2 from my desktop every time I wanted to game on the go with my laptop, I needed another Windows 10 gamepad. I tried the new official Xbox Series X gamepad from Microsoft.

The Y button failed consistently. I exchanged it for another. Same issue. I returned it and bought this for literally half the price. For $29. 99, this wired gamepad is an option second to only a true premium choice like the above Razer gamepad (highly recommended as well).

I cannot stress this enough, the bang for your buck factor on this gamepad is a top selling point. This is a 4. 5 star product made 5 by a great cost of entry. But does it work? I was relieved to experience firm, responsive face buttons and accurate, smooth thumb sticks.

A bulky but swappable USB-C cable was a nice touch. Solid ergonomics and surprisingly good overall hand feel round out the big upsides. Triggers and bumpers are good enough but not great – mostly because the plastic they used feels cheaper than the rest of the controller.

The bumpers feel big to me as well and seem to be an area where they may have unnecessarily deviated from prototypical design. Most of these issues do disappear shortly after a play session begins once I warm up to the gamepad, but the bumpers are still always a bit clunky.

If you prefer or don’t care about your gamepad being wired, I recommend this pad over the official Xbox Series X pad or maybe any other wired option. I still like my Razer Wolverine V2 more, but I paid $70 more for it so one has to wonder which has the higher value?.

I love this controller. For the price, you can’t beat it. I use mine mainly for playing PC games. My first one lasted over a year, only reason it was replaced with the new one was because it fell off my desk one too many time.

Everything still worked but the older one’s case was finally cracked where my palm wound rest. Seriously this controller can take a beating. OEM controllers would last me 3 months and that was the sticks wearing out.

PDP has made a tank of a controller. This new one I have has lasted almost a year now and thats because I attached the cord to my desk so if it does fall, doesn’t hit the floor anymore.

The controller is fine it works well, color is what I wanted but you need to know something EXTREMELY CRUCIAL WHEN THINKING OF THIS CONTROLLER: IF YOU HAVE THE OLD XBOX ONE PLAY AND CHARGE KIT IT ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS CONTROLLER! They changed the usb port from a micro usb to a usb-c port so your old play and charge kit won’t charge at all! You can still use the battery but charging it wont happen! What you need to do is buy this: Microsoft – Controller for Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One + USB-C® Cable (Latest Model) – Black Model:1V8-00001 SKU:6436824 This is taken directly from Best Buy’s website if you buy this one you will hve no problems! Now I am stuck trying to find a new xbox series x/s play and charge kit and they are sold out everywhere! It is so stupid that microsoft doesn’t put in a female ended micro usb to male usb-c adaptor in case you don’t know this.

Also it should be on the box bigger that it uses usb-c and not micro usb chrging anymore! And also beware when trying to call best buy when you call a store you are shoved into a national call center and if youbare trying to get a specific store the person on the end of the phone will blatantly lie and say that you are talking to the store directly when you are not, And if you ask them to hold something for you and ask for their name they wil! give you their name but then when you go to the store to pick it up that person mysteriously doesn’t work there and they have never heard of them before! Take a look at the supplied photo the yellow circled bit makes it seem like they added a port not removed one and replaced it with something else, also circled is the date 2020, this controller was purchased in 2021! I do not write reviews on the things I buy, even when they are nightmare purchases. This controller has compelled me to finally review something I have purchased. I have owned many custimizable/paddle controllers (Elite series 1 & 2, PS4 & Xbox Scufs, Fusion Pros v1 & 2, Steam controller, Astro C40, and the steelseries stratus) and let me tell you.

The Wolverine Ultimate is the only controller I will purchase for the foreseeable future! The analog sticks are incredibly nice, smooth and accurate to the point where I would turn off aim assist playing on PC and do absolutely fine because micro adjusting your aim is so easy.

The tactile switch ABXY buttons feel like butter when I press them and do not activate over easily like with the elite series. The paddles are placed in such a way that if you didn’t use paddles or were playing something you don’t use them you would never touch the paddles and forget that they were there.

They are in a spot that paddle usually aren’t placed but once you get used to the position they are easily and comfortably pressed and easy to press so you don’t have to strain to hard. Big fan of the position of the extra bumper buttons as well.

I play ALOT of Rocket League and anyone who has played it knows how difficult it can be to dribble the ball in the air for long periods. Before this controller the longest I was able to keep the ball on my car was 30 secs and I could never touch it again no matter which controller or sensitivity I use.

With this controller I blew my record out of the water with 45+ secs the next 4 times since getting used to the controller. Overall this controller is a godsend for controller players and WILL improve your accuarcy/gameplay.

Only complaint I have is the configuration app for PC but its still not bad enough to warrant any less stars for this controller.

Not quite as good as the Elite Series 2, but it’s a solid controller. It’s a little big. The back buttons might be a little too far for some. But overall it’s a great controller. A definite upgrade from the previous Razer controller, the Wildcat.

I’ve used a number of pro style controllers (elite 2, razer wildcat, razer wolverine v2, powerA fusion 1 and 2, Nacon revolution X) and this is my 2nd favorite. The wolverine v2 has better ergonomics, but lacks the programmable buttons to make it worth using.

I originally tried the Wolverine Ultimate when it first came out but returned it. At release it was not compatible with the Xbox Accessories App, meaning it couldn’t be configured at the system level for games that failed to offer adequate control schemes (like pubg).

But now that I’m on Series S a few years later the Ultimate works exactly as I would expect on both my console and laptop.

I’ve owned 2 elite series 2 controllers and they both had build quality issues. The first a vibration/ haptic feedback problem. The second had the right shoulder button problem. I’ve never dropped or thrown my controllers so you can imagine my frustration with equipment I’m gentle with malfunctioning.

Frustrated, I researched carefully, looking for a decent alternative that would fit my fps and racing needs. Apart from the scuf instinct pro nothing seemed like a good fit. I decided to return to bestbuy and try something new – The Razer Ultimate.

At first I was a little displeased with the lack of wireless connectivity but that faded as soon as I felt the snappiness in the game- as soon as tap the jump, shoot, duck buttons it’s already happened.

On top of that is the tactility of those buttons… my God what an improvement over standard controller buttons. I actually want something to happen in the game so I can press buttons to respond. People complain about the placement of the paddles but I honestly don’t mind them.

I never accidentally hit them and I simply place my middle finger on them when needed – I really don’t see why people hate on them. Enough gushing, what are my gripes. Well I wish it was usb c and not microusb.

Second, the build materials could be more deluxe but it’s not horrible at all. Owning the elite series 2 made my bar kinda high but honestly I have zero regrets owning this controller so far. Give it a go, if you don’t love it bring it back for something else.

The controller is AMAZING and the best on the market. when it works. I have had the elite 1 and 2 controllers, both have had the same issue, the LB button stops working. The extended warranty with xbox was great, but having to send the controller in 7 times for the same issue.

( which is cost free btw until the warranty expires) 2 times I received a controller I used it for about an hour and the LB was unresponsive again which was a known issue from the release date of the controller.

All the other times it would last about a mo th until an issue came up. I am very careful with my items, I have not mishandled any of my controllers. Is it worth $175. Yes if it is working. The current state of them no, not even worth $25, even with the year long no cost warranty this is not worth your money.

Your better off purchasing a Scuf controller. Again this has been an issue since the original elite controller release. Once your manufacturers warranty is up your on your own when not if a problem comes up.

This review will be a bit extensive, since I feel truth is what helps us find what we really wish to have in our daily lifes. Just hope I can help someone with the decision. Product is fine overall, but the lack of a rechargeable battery translating in a dependency on AA batteries, leaves much to be desired.

I’ve read some people don’t mind this but, in my country, this just makes the controller an expensive product to maintain. That is, if you are a player that values the wireless capabilities. There are solutions though.

Fortunately, a way to incorporate a rechargeable battery is available. As for it’s performance, many people mention the stick drift of the controller. I bought a 2nd hand product and it has been working fine since day one, but I’m also someone that uses these kind of controllers to avoid having to press regular L3 and R3.

these buttons are the main reason why many gamers get stick drift on their controllers, from what I’ve been deducting. If, like me, pressing L3 and R3 isn’t confortable and you want to find a solution, this can help you and provide even more control with a total of 4 extra buttons on the back.

These buttons are responsive and actually feel nice to the touch and press for me. This controller is somewhat easy to configure using the respective app from the windows store (free of charge). Took a few tries, but with trial and error, I was able to configure for my personal use as intended.

A little something that annoyed me was the USB cable that comes with the controller. Not so much the cable itself but, the way the port in the controller is designed, is a flaw on itself. Since it doesn’t go to a small compartment to avoid wiggling, this is prone to damage and, in my case, small movements were enough to keep losing connection to my pc while in cable mode.

(which, on close inspection, I noted that was a small bend in the cable coupled with a little gap on the entry of the controller. 2nd hand products, am I right??? 😀 ). I ended up changing the USB cable for another, with a more robust pin, and the problem was solved, unless I decide to smack the controller and bend the cable intentionaly.

It’s a regular micro usb too. Only the second version of the controller has the USB-C type. Hope this review helps anyone interest and happy gaming! Stay safe!.

The Elite 1 controller is an awesome concept. However, It has several issues, the trigger stops that limit the trigger movement make your fingers sore due to their location under the controller body.

It also has low grade components that fail often and without a lot of use. The internal electronic components are either low grade or poor quality. The analog sticks fail quickly just as an example. Just a lot of issues for something so expensive, Both the Elite 1 and 2 suffer from lack of quality either by design or purposely aren’t meant to last just adding more trash to the landfills.

Very few parts for repair can be found, schematics are not provided from the manufacture. This causes MORE trash in the long run which harms the environment. Parts and schematics and service manuals should be provided! This all being said, the Concept of the controller is awesome, it has a nice feel in your hands, and has a fast response time if you are lucky enough to get one that actually lasts more than a couple of months.

had they built it to be repairable and made to last for many hours of game play the expense might be explained as it is, they simply aren’t worth the prices. The feel is very nice but over all I recommend investing in a controller that is by far cheaper in costs.

Great wired controller. Tactile feedback, responsive, and smooth. The additional buttons on top are comfortable to use and handy. I’ve seen these priced anywhere from $50-$100. $100 is a little steep but still worth it considering the regular price of controllers.

I’ve bought three of these; two for others and one for me. Used with PC on Windows 11. The white controller looks great but shows dirt and grime very easy and requires cleaning every couple days with regular use, roughly 4 or 5 hours per day playing shooters.

The black ones don’t show as much dirt (doesn’t mean it’s not there). The button mapping made use of additional software I found for free in the windows store. Can map most of the other buttons on the controller to work on the extra bumper buttons.

For example your ‘A’ button still jumps, but the ‘A’ input is also triggered by the mapping so you would have two usable jump buttons.

Impressive controller at this price-point. After carefully disregarding all negative reviews and smartly seeing through the reasoning most people gave this a low score I opted to give it a try. I cannot speak to longevity yet, only had it for a month – knowing most of my controllers burn out after 6 months of use due to heavy gameplay, if I can get this to last the same or longer it would be worth it for me.

Build and feel are better then expected – imagines make this controller look giant, but actually fits well in the hands. Hands aren’t strained and grips are still grippy after a 12 hour session. Sticks glide buttons very responsive – the two additional buttons are placed in a smart way which make it easy to get to.

The hard wire is a huge plus – even usbc wears out at the port.

I have always liked the look and feel of Razer controllers and this one is no different. I purchased it primarily for the Xbox Series X, but I can confirm that it also works with the Xbox One. It is about the same size as the Microsoft made ones but has texturized grips, two extra buttons beside the bumpers(rb and lb, which some reviews complain the extra buttons get in the way, but I have had no issues with that), and the buttons make a click noise when pressed which I find satisfying.

I find all of the buttons, analog sticks, and the d-pad to be as responsive as the Microsoft made controllers. I actually prefer this Razer controller over Microsoft’s(mostly because of the grips and clicks).

It is wired, so that saves on batteries. I would definitely recommend getting one if you play on Xbox Series X/S and/or Xbox One.

*disclaimer* I can only compare to my previous controller the Razer Wolverine Ultimate. I have not used an Elite Series 2, any Scuf, Turtle Beach etc. This may be considerably better than those I don’t know.

My wolverine ultimate A button stopped working and apparently Razer doesn’t make that controller anymore so I settled for the V2 Chroma which hasn’t impressed me near as much as the wolverine ultimate did.

My first and biggest grip. the start and select buttons are in a HORRENDOUS location. I mean look at where they are and think about trying to use those buttons in tense moments when you need to get in and out of a menu as quick as possible.

This issue is exacerbated by the fact that this controller is stretched out horizontally more than the previous controller (more resemblant of a PS controller) so now you have to reach to push the buttons and on the left side you have to go OVER the stick.

terrible. Finish of the controller doesn’t feel nearly as good as the wolverine ultimate – it feels like lighter, cheaper plastic. The grips on the backside of the wolverine ultimate were a nice soft rubber, but on this one it’s no more than a knurled plastic that just rubs on your hand and makes it feel raw after gaming for extended amounts of time.

The sticks are good, the D pad is circular now but the button stroke is much longer to use it. Similar to the D pad is the A, B, X, and Y buttons. You still get the mechanical click but that’s pointless if the stroke feels just as long as the standard xbox controller.

It’s just a longer (time) commitment to push these buttons now. The strokes were very short and quick on the wolverine ultimate. Apparently input lag is really good (low) on this but unless your controller is a potato I really don’t think you’ll notice it that much.

or if your controller just has bad wireless software/hardware. I’m not sure what they were thinking on this, I’ll probably return it soon because I expect better for the price to be honest.

The controller is a brilliant 4/5 with only some minor collective details costing it a point. I use this controller connected to a PC and use it for games such as Call of duty, rocket league and a few other games.

I bought it as I play both cod and rocket league in highly competitive matches. Let’s start with the pro’s – the weight of this thing is just right, not to light it moves when you pull triggers but no so heavy you want to put it down after a couple of hours.

– it looks very nice, great sleek look with slim RGB’s – the main buttons (lettered) are a real pleasure to press, clicky and snappy makes it really reactive, hair triggered too so you won’t need to slam your thumb down, just a quick tap and you got it, but strong enough so you don’t accidentally jump in the middle of sneaking.

– the thumb sticks are brilliant, they’re really nice and smooth on rotation but strong on the centre so when you let go they snap back into place, no concern of drifting here, you also get the choice of short sticks or long sticks (preference on aiming in FPS) and they can be changed in an instant due to magnets.

– the triggers are what I fell in love with, on rocket league I can use the full 100% trigger pull and control my speed, then by switching to a 25% pull I can change it to a mouse click for games like call of duty.

This is a HUGE bonus for me as it makes firing a gun that much quicker. – wired, I personally love a wired controller, no worries about lag, drop out, batteries and the cable is a hard standing braided USB C high speed cable.

-the paddles. Now, another main reason why I bought this was because of the paddles. Having a jump button, a rotate or whatever I want on the back means so much. This means my thumbs stay on the thumb sticks.

I never have to stop aiming to reload or bounce around a corner or use boost. This is huge!!! I personally don’t mind that they’re upright paddles (this means they don’t go off to the side but they more face directly down) and they stand off the controller meaning I can rest my fingers on them easily, however.

My hands are the size of a meteors so others may be put off by this. Now let’s talk about where it dropped the points. – Software, the PC software is… ok. Nothing amazing but not something that’s impossible to use.

It’s easy to adjust and create profiles but what would be amazing would be if it had some sort of sharing profiles so that I can upload a profile to the world, or simply download one. – this one is small but it matters to me, the start and select button are in really weird places, offset at a diagonal angle meaning your thumbs have to learn a new location for something they’ve become Used to over years, causing you to occasionally look down meaning you’re not in the game.

– no carry case, this might not seem huge especially if you’re like me and don’t take your controllers out much. But it means I have no where proper to store the additional thumb sticks. Sure I can buy a case but that’s another £25.

I haven’t used the headphone slot due to my headphones being plugged into a rig, but from what I can see it’s a solid 10/10, you can control chat volume compared to game volume and overall volume but pressing a couple of buttons.

That’s huge and I would 100% use it if I had too. Overall I would 100% recommend this product giving it an easy 9/10. I’ve used the Xbox elite controller and these two controllers are very close but I much prefer this one purely due to the build quality and overall feel.

This controller works with current Xbox Consoles and Windows PCs. The App is the same for both platforms available through the Microsoft Store. It allows a lot of control over the Chroma lighting on the controller.

The app allows customization of the extra triggers and buttons, allowing customization of the controls outside of a game’s own button customization options. The dedicated Audio config button, below the SHARE button, allows on the fly mixing of the levels of both in game volume and chat volumes, individually.

I like the feel of the controller, the thing that took the most to get use to was the position of the menu buttons to the left and right of the home button. I love the hair trigger slider for both main trigger buttons, helps with some control schemes in games.

I was initially skeptical that the magnetic thumbstick hats would be secure enough, but they have never accidentally came off. The ability to switch to a taller hat on one thumbstick is nice, that and being able to switch one thumbstick between concave and convex on a controller is nice.

I keep the nice box the controller came in, partially to keep the not in use Hats in a safe place. The main X, Y, B, A button press feeling is different from standard xbox controllers, has a bit more resistance and a click, with a more solid feeling.

The D-pad is more precise and clicky than a standard controller, also with a tiny bit more resistance, not as much as the difference in the X, Y, B, A buttons, but noticeable. The controller is of course corded only with no batteries or wireless ability.

The cord is of a good length and is USB C on the controller and USB A on the other end. All in All, this is a very nice configureable controller with very nice lighting option to match up with the rest of your LED light setup on Xbox and PC.

I would recommend whole heartedly.

The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 feels a lot better than the included controller in the Series X/S and seems more like a true “next gen” controller. I primarily use the Xbox Elite 2 for PC gaming.

On Steam when connecting via Bluetooth the controller has worked flawlessly except with Batman: Arkham Knight which required telling the game it was a 360 controller with custom mappings. Surprisingly with Xbox PC game pass I ran into many more issues when connecting via Bluetooth, I found connecting via the included USB-C cable works better for game pass games, otherwise on BT I run into issues where some of the buttons aren’t mapped properly and even when manually mapping them they don’t respond correctly or at all.

Being Xbox’s flagship controller, I would think it would run seamlessly on Xbox game pass. The experience may be better on consoles but this controller is billed as an Xbox/PC controller and should work well on both.

Other than those issues, which largely are corrected by connecting via USB-C, I like the controller quite a bit. The rumble feature feels much more natural than the included Xbox Series X controllers, which felt to me like technology from 10+ years ago with very basic and clunky vibration feedback, lightweight and a need for AA batteries, especially when compared with the all mighty PS DualSense.

The Elite 2 controller has a nice weight to it, the thumb sticks feel solid, snappy and respond nicely. I haven’t used the paddles much but I like that they are included and could see them being useful for many games.

The grips feel good as well and make the controller sit securely in your hands during gaming sessions. The controller also feels more balanced than the X/S. This controller comes with a quality, corded 9′ USB to USB-C cable as well as a rugged case that doubles as a charging station.

Within the case it also includes a tool to adjust the thumb sticks as well as an alternate D-pad. Overall this is a large improvement over the included X/S controllers, and some of its PC compatibility issues which are a bit frustrating can largely be overcome by tethering with USB-C.

I have played XBOX since the very first iteration of the console. And throughout those years I have gone through quite a few controllers. I have mostly stuck to Microsoft controllers in doing so. I finally caved and forked over the money for the most seemingly premium controller available in the Elite Series 2.

This controller has all he features possible to make your gaming experience as quality and fun as possible. Adjustable triggers, remappable buttons, a seamless integration and connection to your XBOX by way of the accessories application on your desk top, a rechargeable battery pack built in that gives you hours of gameplay before needing another charge (think I have played something like 10 hours before charging it), it comes with a carrying case that houses the controller and a bunch of extra addons like alternative thumbsticks and paddles to add to the controller for any player’s comfort or preference, and it even utilizes USB-C.

Now, with all that being said, this controller, with it’s vast price point and immense amount of features STILL suffers from Microsoft’s inability to consistently show that it can produce good build quality in its controllers.

In a few moths the right trigger began to creak a bit, and had a problem where it would stick. This is apparently a common issue with the glue that they use to supply a padding to the trigger so that when you push it in it doesn’t have plastic hitting plastic.

The only fix is spraying a bunch of alcohol into it and jabbing it with a Q-tip until the glue becomes less sticky and it stops sticking. Recently, the left bumper started becoming unresponsive. I could hit the side of the controller on a hard surface a bit and it would briefly fix the problem, which would return after a few minutes.

Other issues such as pushing the trigger down to fire in an FPS game, but then if you are pushing the trigger feverishly in an intense moment the melee button (most commonly the right thumbstick click which I had remapped to a paddle) would initiate and I would throw a melee for no reason, and of course probably lose the fire fight with my opponent.

The controller began to become more of a liability than an enhancement to my gaming experience. And for the amount of money it costs, that is ridiculous. Microsoft truly needs to figure out why their controllers are always such poor quality, especially one that costs half of what a whole console would be to purchase.

After using one of these controllers for about the last 6 months, I still can’t understand its high praise from community. I feel obliged to share my experience. Features: The paddles sound nice on paper but not all users will find them useful.

Certain grip styles will notice they just get in the way. After playing on standard controllers for so long without paddles/buttons on the back side, I’ve found it difficult to adapt to them and play most games with the paddles removed.

The customizable joysticks are a neat idea, though being held by magnetism, they tend to shift around resulting in a springy feel. I notice this in game but also a lot while navigating menus. If I press down on the joystick and then simply let go, the action results in a down then up instead of just a down.

The springy feel can be slightly reduced by adjusting the joystick tension but I have found that tension setting resets itself over time during use. Also, the joysticks have a grindy feel when pressed down and rotating, something I don’t experience with standard controllers.

The trigger locks are fine, though depending on your grip style, they can accidently shift settings during use. Build Quality: Now build quality is something I expected the Elite would exceed in over the standard controllers but has not been the case.

The Elite controller can split open from drops as low as two feet onto a throw rug. Unlike the standard controllers that have removable grip panels and the two main halves screwed together, the Elite is simply two halves snapped together by small clips.

If you are strong enough, you can literally split one of these open in your hands. A standard controller can absorb drops 10x better than the Elite. If considering an Elite controller, I’d highly recommend purchasing the accidental damage coverage because if you drop your controller once and a tab snaps off, it won’t seal right and would require a replacement.

Also, as of last week, my Elite controller developed stick drift in the left joystick which leads me to believe that the joystick rocker modules are no better quality than the ones used in the standard controllers.

Value: Considering all my experiences mentioned above make this controller a terrible value. You are essentially spending $120 more over a standard controller for the addition of paddles, adjustable thumb sticks, trigger stops and a fancy case with charging station.

Again, the features are poorly implemented and the overall quality of the controller is worse than a standard controller. I personally would not recommend this controller to anyone who is expecting a significant upgrade from a standard controller.

There are plenty of cheap aftermarket add-ons out there, that can essentially get a standard controller the features the Elite has. Elite is all hype.

I’ll try and focus this review on the things I think are useful that people want to know. I’ve had the controller about 1 week, and used it for a good several hrs each day. I don’t play competitive and don’t thrash the controller around.

Been playing twin stick with reasonable amount of trigger usage, and some coverage of all other buttons including the infamous Y button. So far I have had no issues, no double clicks, or missed clicks etc.

Both sticks are perfectly tracking as shown in the xbox accessories software. And the response curve on the triggers is also as it should be. The trigger adjustments work as expected and feel solid, but by the same token I wouldn’t be too rough with them when shortened.

The stick tension provides three settings, standard, firm, and extra firm. This worked fine for me, but I’ll be sticking with standard. Accessories: I love the convenience of the charging stand and case it comes with The different stick options are a plus and easy to swap, but I will probably just use the default ones.

The faceted (default) dpad has a nice action, but for me the + dpad is the better choice and has a decisive response! The paddles work fine, easy to remove if desired, I do use them with a couple of remappings (view and left bumper in my case).

IMO, the new white elite 2 controller could have at least been a consideration if it had the + dpad and the paddles. Software/Other: I use the controller on PC coupled with the wireless adapter (got mine from Noel Leeming) The XBox accessories app works as expected and allows me to setup the profiles.

You can remap all functionality on the controller, but only to existing actions the controller supports. SO. – No keyboard mappings – Doesn’t allow a mapping for the “Share” button found on newer xbox controllers.

I think (hope) both those shortfalls will be resolved in a future firmware update, it sounds like keyboard mappings was possible on older firmware! (Steam cannot get around the keyboard mapping issue at least not on the paddles, reWASD might be able to??).

My current firmware is 5. 13. 3146. 0 Quality concerns: There is a lot of discussion about maybe QC issues with the controller, it almost put me off getting one. So far I have not encountered any issues, and for a premium product you would expect not to! What helped me buy one was to research the issues people had with other controllers and brands to get a sense of how often people have issues with controllers in general.

But ymmv. For people in NZ some peace of mind may be gained from reading the consumer guarantees act, and understanding what the rules of it are, I would expect MS/MA to be complaint with the act without too much fuss, but know your rights.

That also helped me to have some confidence that if there were issues I could elevate the concern and not simply be fobbed off with a refurb or whatever. With all of this said – I’ve only had it a week to replace my older xbox one gen 3 controller that was kaput.

If I remember I will try and update/re-review this in a year and or if I encounter issues before then. But otherwise I am glad I got one, and on sale too :).

Obviously, the best (and most important) feature is that it has virtually zero-latency. I play a lot of games where timing is everything, so for me, it’s imperative to have something that’s super responsive.

This has made a notable difference in game play over my old controller. It comes with 2 different length sticks to choose from – one set is standard and the other is convex. One really cool feature is the 4 paddle levers that attach to the back, that you can program with specialized moves.

You can use or remove any or all of these as you like, so if you don’t need them on a particular game and want to remove them, you can. Another cool feature is the programmable trigger which allows you to set the throw and range.

It also has an audio jack, so you can use it with a headset if you like. Another nice feature is the soft rubberized grips. I was actually kind of surprised how much more comfortable it was to use (especially for long periods of time) than the traditional Xbox controller and it does work for both Xbox and PC.

Lastly, it comes with 2 different color faceplates (one white, one black) and it all comes with a hard shell case to store it (and all it’s extra parts) in when not in use. Overall, definitely worth getting.

I have two of these same exact controllers. I play a lot of Fallout but my B button on the original controller was sticking a bit at a certain angle. It just needed to be cleaned but I panicked after Amazon was backed up over three weeks and over priced because of the supply chain issues.

So I grabbed this one as a back up as quickly as I could and delivered in two days. I play under Windows 10 on a Lenovo Legion this controller pairs instantly via Bluetooth. Functions are quick with excellent response.

This controller is perfect for windows 10 PC gaming via bluetooth if you understand how to pair and game. Buttons are normal controller is fine and anyone with an issue probably doesn’t understand what they are purchasing or how thier system works.

Cons: Requires two AA batteries. Includes none. I had some but I can’t remember the last time that I bought something that didn’t include batteries. I wonder how many people received this as a gift and couldn’t even use it out of the box.

That’s a rather pathetic cost cutting measure. Includes a cable, USB-A to USB-C. The cable is require to program or update using the Xbox Accessories program even if you connect it via Bluetooth. My system only has USB-C/Thunderbolt.

So, the included cable is worthless to me. I have to buy a USB-C TO USB-C cable. Frequently drops its Bluetooth connection even after updating Windows 10 and all Dell drivers. Every five to ten minutes it goes dead and the connect button flashes while it reestablishes its connection.

Allegedly, an firmware update may fix it but I have to buy the previously mentioned cable first. Pros: It feels nice and, if you ignore the software and firmware issues, it seems well made. Recommendation: If you’re buying this for your PC, hard pass until they address the well documented problems with this controller.

If you need something right now, look somewhere else.

didn’t have this style controller back when it dropped alongside the original xbox in the 2000’s, but i was mesmerized by it and had to have it. the uncommon size makes it feel very comfortable. the buttons are nice and responsive, although it took a little getting accustomed to since i mainly play with a modern controller.

using this new duke controller to play og xbox games on modern systems is a blast, a nostalgic treat. very fun, highly recommend.

Decent pad – very much like the original Xbox one. Shame it’s not wireless but saves me money on batteries so that’s not a bad thing. It’s now my go to normal controller, rather than a novelty spare.

Is it expensive for what it is? Yes definitely. Are there better pads available? For a bit more money you could buy an elite controller for sure, however this has different benefits to that so it’s not a fair comparison.

Also good luck finding an Xbox One controller that is like the original Duke!.

After purchasing an Xbox series x 3 weeks later the controller that came with the series x console started to get a sticky button I did not which to return it as it is a hastle. So I found this controller advertised as open box item cheaper than a new one and better than used if you dont want to take a risk or cant afford a new one,I love this controller all buttons feel good like they should be as they test the controller before sale.

So Yes I recommend this open box controller or any open box controller.

Semi works with bluetooth support with minor issues here and there. The controller itself feels like a upgrade to the xbox one controller. Triggers feel much better. The d pad is a like it or hate kinda thing, for myself I actually enjoy the satellite looking thumb pad with audible clicks when pressed.

No problems when using it wired with a usb type c cable directly to your pc. Not sure why bluetooth had issues as of Jan 2021.

Good controller. Feels good in the hand. I have not picked up a controller in 15 years. The last time I picked up an xbox controller was the first xbox console that came out. This somehow feels a lot better than that one.

Connected to my bluetooth 5. 0 dongle on my PC quick! Responsive and quality build.

This is my third Elite controller from Xbox. My first one came with my Elite Xbox One and had problems with the rubber handles and the bumper switches. Bought the Elite 2 when it came out but started to have drift issues with R stick, weird unresponsive controls from L stick randomly and RB stopped working.

All this just after the warranty period was expired. So now here is the Elite 2 Core. Pros: – get to use my accessories from my previous controllers. – cheaper than a whole new Elite 2 Cons: – Still expensive no matter how you look at it – feels cheaper than Elite 2: Start/select buttons feel cheap, L3 and R3 don’t feel right.

and don’t have the feedback that I actually engaged them. Conclusion: I give it a 4* because the overall build is good, grips are great and cheaper for thise who have accessories laying around doing nothing.

I am also thinking of returning it or asking for a replacement because of the bad L3 R3. Anyone else have this problem?.

Sick of it. Firstly, the stick tension is uneven. There is always one side that has more slack than the other, and there’s a slight deadspace that is taken that you can feel it gently dragging before engaging the track pad.

Secondly, the button registration. This was my 3rd try at the elite 2 since it came out and I’m done. The A button in particular (sometimes others as well) WILL NOT register soft presses that aren’t directly over the button.

They have curved buttons, it doesn’t work out well. You have to Mash the buttons if you want consistency. If you play for hours at a time this starts to hurt your thumb joints. The buttons also have varying tension as well.

The one I got had a stiff X button while the others weren’t. Does that sound premium to you? Just stick with the regular controller. It’s very reliable and was well tested before manufacturing, these not so much.

They need to figure it out.

Cheaper price didnt change the quality. It works great. You can use your old paddles etc. I had no problems. Everything was sturdy and tight fitting. D-pad is multi directional so obviously youd need to make sure youre tapping in the right spot or it will make it more difficult for you.

I found my gameplay to be considerably smoother too.
