Best Xbox 360 Airplane Games (2024 Updated)

An engaging, entertaining and very challenging air combat game. Air targets, stationary ground targets, mobile ground targets (eventually in between tall buildings that block your shot)are all utilized to make this air combat worth buying.

I highly recommend this to those who find air combat fun.

The game it’s self is not impressive without enough saves requiring playing over not just what you screwed up to way back to the beginning of a mission. You get what you pay for as this is not an expensive game so you may find, unlike me, that is worth the cost.

As an old pilot this game is enjoyable.

I am new to the Virtua Fighting Series; however, Virtua Fighter 5 is a refreshing change from other well-known fighting games such as Tekken, Street Fighter, and Dead or Alive. I am a big fan of fighting games and have thoroughly enjoyed Virtua Fighter 5.

A key strength of Virtua Figther 5 is its unique fighting styles pertaining to the well designed characters in the game. The mix of characters offer a diverse range of fighting styles including jujitsu, Mantis Style, Monkey Style, Wrestling (both conventional and lucha libre), kick-boxing, Drunken fist, and more which helps differentiate it from other fighting games which cover more conventional martial arts.

Secondly, Virtua Fighter 5 presents itself with extremely well-defined and realistic graphics for both the fighters and the beautiful locations where the fights take place (by waterfall, on a beach, under the sakura blossoms, in a dojo and more).

Thirdly, Virtua Fighter 5 adds elements of realism by factoring in the characters’ weights which impact the amount of damage they receive when falling, and being subject to particular attacks from varying opponents of all shapes and sizes.

Virtua Fighter also includes an Arcade Mode which enables vast customisation by fighting numerous AI opponents in arcade-style battles and tournaments which offer bonus items and cash to purchase costumes and accessories for your fighter.

Lastly, Virtua Fighter 5 is fun to play with friends as a friendly competition and still includes traditional fighting mechanics based on strategic combat, timing, countering, stringing combos for both High/Mid/Low attacks; so, you can’t rely on button mashing to win your matches.

Overall, an enjoyable game, especially with the company of others, and a definite keeper for collectors and connoisseurs of fighting games :-).

one of my favorite games in my favorite genre. and despite it’s age it holds up really well. not as shiny or cool or flashy as tekken, soul calibur or street fighter series but easily as good when it comes to polish and balance.

i wish this series was still around for next gen consoles. i’m glad i got to play this game again after my xbox 360 crapped out. and xb1 only made VF5 FS playable which is inferior to this version of the game in every way.

Virtua Fighter 5 is good fighting game. You don’t have to be an expert of the genre to enjoy it. In fact, there are many different characters to select from that will appeal to beginners who want to mash buttons to get a win, and characters who will appeal to the expert player that can carefully tap in the correct sequence of buttons and win that way.

That said, this game is a fighter, and a fighter only. The story line is minimal. It’s best played with friends as the replay value is low unless you want to master techniques of certain characters – and mastering techniques, although rewarding, can be tedious because of the careful timing and odd sequences you’ll need to enter to perform some advanced moves.

The game’s graphics and sound are great. The controls are satisfactory – your character moves as you would expect them to. Beginning moves are executed fairly easily, but the learning curve ramps up steeply when you’re trying to perform advanced movements.

The load times are tolerable. This game would be even better if they would develop the story line and plot in the game a little more. That would add both interest in the characters and replay value to see different parts of the integrated story line.

If a story line would add replay value, then adding in network play would add even more replay value. Too bad this feature is sorely missing from this game. I think without the ability to fight an opponent over the network, this game does not deserve the excellent rating, but qualifies for a solid good rating with the execution of the other features.

If you like fighting games, it is a solid buy, but if you’re just mildly into the genre, then there are probably other games out there that will compete well against this game.

Just started playing Xbox 360 at 51 years old. This is really cool… can’t believe all the fun I’ve been missing!

A good game with lots going on but can be a little repetitive at times graphics are not bad considering it is an old game. if you like flight simulator games this is one of the better ones..

Simply fun flying in WWII combat with old war birds. Where else can you do it!

I didn’t read the game info of it, so I didn’t know that it turns out to be 3rd person action game. That is so sad. I personally prefer the old classic version of Front Mission series which are strategic games.

This is just like playing Armored Core, only that it is slightly more detailed and slower phase. You can shoot the arms or legs, but I can’t be bothered shooting at each part since there are too much distraction trying to focus shooting on arms or legs.

With sniper rifle or melee weapon, I could 2-3 hits kill the main body already, so there is no point in shooting at other parts trying to disable your opponent. I should have given it 2 stars but since the graphic is not so bad, I will give it 3 stars instead.

There are some stages that you can play as the person/pilot, but that is just very bad compare to the real 1st or 3rd person action game like Modern Warfare and such.

I wasn’t sure what to expect out of this game. Overall I would say it is a good game. A couple of things have caught my attention that throws it off a little bit. The graphics are not superb, but get by good it enough.

Some of the control of the armor is a bit stiff. The one thing I do love about the game though is the ability to customize the armor with various parts and weaponry. You can also add emblems when you unlock them and choose different patterns or custom colors.

I recommend that everyone try this game out especially if a fan of the gundam games.

This is the best flight game on consoles. For 2009, the graphics look terrific and the game is a lot of fun. I am a history nerd but I never knew much about ww2 aircraft. Not gonna lie, this game peaked my interest and got me into learning about it.

Some of the missions are a little slow but overall this game is well made. Training mode is fun too, it kinda like a mission editor mode. Also, Birds of Steel, the sequel, is a good game to get which is like Birds of Prey 1.

Virtually impossible to play gave up trying to get past training to get actual combat flying

Street Fighter has always been the industry standard when it comes to fighting games. Ultra Street Fighter IV is the culmination of all Street Fighter IV versions that came before it. This is an amazing fighter that truly captures all Street Fighter has to offer.

It stands shoulder to shoulder with Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. Play it and be amazed.

When I brought this latest version I thought it was a new game entirely, its actually an add-on for Super Street Fighter/Arcade. As a disc version I expected to get the complete game including updates thus allowing me to surrender my Super Street Fighter Arcade out of my collection with this as a replacement,there in lies the problem.

This version has no TRIAL MODE SUPPORT built in, meaning that if you are an achievement hunter like myself you are stuck with the old version of the game until you can pin down the TRIAL MODE ACHIEVEMENTS.

It’s not a massive problem but it means that if you already own the previous title there’s no need to buy this latest version on disc, just buy the DLC if you have room. Forgetting this one issue the game is awesome with more characters than ever, I think there are around four more additions, all of which are worth a play.

The arcade mode is as brutal as ever as is the online.

This is the latest, and possibly final, version of Street Fighter IV. The core game is still the same, with some character re-balancing based from players feedback to Capcom. There are “new” characters (mostly taken from SF X Tekken, still welcome especially if you haven’t played that game), new stages, modes and some gameplay features.

The game itself is still very good and worth playing, but of course if you didn’t like the original there’s little point to expect something different from this one. If you already got the Arcade Edition you might skip this, or get the digital update of your version.

If you still haven’t played Street Fighter IV and love fighting games. well this is the perfect chance!.

My 10-yr old nephew likes this game very well. He says it requires greater skills than some other games he has for his age range. He enjoys the stories that move the game forward, even though he saw the movie.

He likes the fighting, but his mom is concerned that he appears to be “killing” people. We try to re-enforce he is knocking them down and they appear again in the game. He says the graphics are not as good as some others.

We bought this game based on positive customer reviews, and we’re so glad we did! This game is exciting, fun, just challenging enough to be addictive, and not offensive in it’s use of cartoon violence.

My 7 year old can’t get enough of this game, we have to limit his playing time. We like the variety of changing characters for different tasks (sometimes you’re controlling TinTin, sometimes Snowy, and sometimes Captain Haddock – in the 1 player TinTin mode), the story line is exciting and follows the basic story of the movie (and the earlier cartoon episodes – which you can find on Netflix streaming service), you even get to drive a motorcycle with a sidecar, fly a plane, escape a sinking ship, swim through flooded tunnels.

you name it, this game has it. We couldn’t be happier with this purchase, the price was great, we love the game, and highly recommend it to all families with children of all ages.

This is a simulator. If you’ve flown real or rc helicopters you’re gonna love it. If not practice a bunch and then practice more. You get full aerobatics without worrying about chopping off your tail.

Average graphics and twitchy controls. Realistic mode is completely unplayable, similar to manufactures other flight sim birds of steel, but beggars can’t be choosers when it comes to PS3 flight games.

A playable game, but a little clunky and underwhelming. Flight stick a must, standard PS3 controllers are useless for flight sims.

I dunno what to say, its Skate 3 with all its crazy glitches. The story is weak compared to the second game. Theres actually barely a story. Youre just completing challenges. The bails are way more cartoonish and unrealistic than Skate 2.

The skating is great though. Satisfying as hell.

So the box isn’t the same in the picture. Threw me off at first. It’s a Xbox One game that is also compatible with Xbox 360 so that’s ok I guess. Might wanna update the photo though cause I almost sent it back until I saw it also works with Xbox360.

Great game, I’ve probably put at least 100 hours on my last copy that inexplicably disappeared. By no means is it an ugly game, but the graphics aren’t the absolute best compared to current gen. For a PS3 game, they’re great, not quite The Last of Us great, but still great.

Gameplay is awesome but can get a bit repetative at times. Taking breaks and cycling through other games can keep the experience fresh. Get some friends and start a team, really adds to the fun. Overall awesome game.

Personally wouldn’t pay more than $15 total. Not because it isn’t worth it, but because it can be found for half of that.

I seem to remember this getting some negative reviews when it came out so I held off buying it. The only reason I don’t regret that decision now is that I managed to get it cheaper. It’s worth full price though.

A great game and a worthy sequel to Heroes of the Pacific. There’s even RNZAF missions voiced by New Zealand voice actors. Unfortunately these days the online multi-player is pretty much non-existent but the single player experience makes it worth buying.

If you’re on the fence about this one then get it, I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t like it. And I can’t imagine why I talked myself out of getting it. I can only say I’m glad I have it now.

this game is extremly realistic its like you are there,particulatly good is the section over dover every thing looks right, if your a second world war fan its as good as it gets.

This is a challenging game with great environments and landscapes. A fun flight game with gravity! It has a wide variety of planes to fly. It also has lots of WW2 footage, and newsreel type of missions.

I love a flight game that lets you take off from the ground, then fly to your objectives. The only negative is the length of the missions, which is common among most flight games. All in all this is a very good, fun game with hours and hours of enjoyment.

This was such a pleasant surprise game for me. Intuitive control, brings a smile to your face, and it doesn’t overstay it’s welcome. Much like the old Contra-type games. it doesn’t need to be super long to be considered kick-ass! I finished but in roughly 7hrs of playtime, and couldn’t be happier.

I will totally be coming back for more!.

The watchword in Vanquish is movement. Applies to you and your alter-ego, but also for everything you see on the screen. The title of Mikami, in fact, it is not surprising scenes with impressive technical impact, but will give you dozens if not hundreds of items constantly in motion, whether they are enemies, comrades, debris, or even the levels themselves.

Vanquish has a level design of exception that in certain situations completely forget the unwritten rule that takes the static game scenarios, made of sequences between corridors and open spaces, to marry the logic of change.

So you happen to engage the enemy on bridges in ruins, on moving trains that will also run on themselves and others. The graphics engine can never give even a frame, despite particle effects really remarkable detail and a good texture.

Good sound also the sector, composed of electronic music typical of the genre and of samples very good. Similar argument regarding the dubbing in Italian, which does not shine but you can listen although it is sometimes out of sync.

This item came quickly as advertised, brand new!!! I actually purchased this for my kids so they can have fun figuring out how to correctly place shapes. Both my 6 year old and 12 year old really liked the game, especially when I played against them.

It looks like you can have up to 4 players on this X-Box 360 game. It is very similar to the old Nintendo Tetris from way back in the day as it is split screen for multiple players and I have not figured out yet how to see if it is possible to make it look like the old single player full screen game.

Anyways, this was a great purchase and gives the family something to do on rainy days here in Okinawa!!!.

I bought this for a friend who used to own Tetris Worlds for the PS2. We were looking for a local multiplayer Tetris game we could play with her husband and daughters and this fit the bill perfectly: lots of game modes, decent graphics and music, and just as addictive as any other Tetris game,.

I’m a huge Tetris fan and have purchased pretty much every Tetris game known to man. This one for the Xbox 360. While not being as great as some hand held renditions of the game, this was a fairly solid title.

It’s classic Tetris many different game modes for you to play on or offline. Customizable backgrounds and skins help to add a more personal touch to your playing field, but that main thing you’ll be focusing on are your blocks.

Being able to change the transparency of the back of your playing matrix is great depending on what background you choose. The blocks look nice enough without being too crazy. My only problem with the game isn’t exactly a problem of the game, it’s the Xbox 360’s controller.

It doesn’t play very nicely due to it’s D-Pad being very awkward to control your pieces with. All said and done, this is a solid Tetris title and worth a buy if you can get past the controller issue.

This game is lots of fun ! If you like the tony hawks games series or the Jet Set Radio games series, then you will like this one. This one, I find is easier than tony hawks though. It is alot more fun than any tony hawks game I’ve played too.

This game is very unique in that you can move where the rail goes that you are currently grinding on ! Like say you were grinding on a rail and you wanted to grind up to the top of one of the buildings.

Then you would grind the rail and point the rail upwards as you are grinding on it !? It is such a fun game to play and so easy once you get the hang of it. When I first played this game about a week ago, I couldn’t stop playing it for 8 hours ! That is how fun this game is ! The downfall is that I went to play multiplayer on it and found noone playing it yet ! But I have only had this game for like a week now.

You can alos do all those crazy stunts that you can do in tony hawks and similar games like this one too ! Ollies, hand grabs, backflips, forwardflips, verts, nollies and kickflips to name a few ! Funnest part of this game is the fact that every time you play it, you can change it ! That means the next time you want to play the same level or area, you can go there and change all the changeable rails by placing them differently as you grind on them again ! There are so many areas or levels to play also ! This huge game should have more multiplayers in it though ! So go and buy a copy of this game so we can play the multiplayer part of it too ! i think its one of the best skateboarding games out on xbox 360 everyone thinks that skate 3 is the best i lent it off a mate i found it far too easy and a bit boring i think shaun white skateboarding is better because not the same as all the other skate games i think it makes a change and im a fan of shaun white i even have shaun white snowboarding.

Got this for my 7 year old who I just got a skateboard he cant use since its winter so fingured this would be fun. He loves it!

Being an obvious fan of THPS and every other game TH has, Skate was supposed to be a fork in the road that I was eager to take. to get right down to it,the controls are real clunky. I know that i am really used to TH games but the flip stick is hard to gauge.

your timing has to be 100% perfect to do a grind or ollie on a ledge, etc. even though the game’s creators claim that the controls are better, you still have 4-5 buttons that have to be used to nail a trick.

personally i dont like to the control stick as a trick button. you have to have perfect angles to do the trick, otherwise you just end up doing ollies or something you completly didnt want to do. the graphics are awesome and the challenges are a welcomed change to that of TH games.

overall, the game and controls take some getting used to, like hours and hours of gameplay. but i would assume after you have MASTERED the flip stick or whatever its called, you’ll enjoy and forget about TH.

The mechanics in Skate are marvelous to one such as myself, with the only skating games behind me being from the Tony Hawk franchise. Focusing tricks with the right analog stick, grabs with the left and right triggers, and accelerating with the ‘A’ button, pulling off impressive stunts comes off naturally.

The environment is gorgeous for being a skating game, reminding me of Mirror’s Edge more so than anything else I can think of. This franchise has certainly pulled many gamers away from the THPS tour with its innovation and realism; it allows skates to pull off tricks on the ground, every trick can be performed right away without having to fill up a silly bar, and customizing your skaters appearance with real merchandise from skating brands are all features that are new to this game type.

Complaints would obviously be with the realism employed by having a camera low and behind you, mimicking someone trailing you with a camcorder but annoying you if there is ever more than two objects in your immediate surrounding.

Also, you will find that it sometimes takes 15 failures before you succeed at a mission. Lastly, your enemies will be curbs and facing into walls, since the game gives you a bit too much difficulty in navigating either.

I would recommend buying Skate, even if you only play it for a few hours and throw it in your video game shelf. Try to aim for $15 – $20 if you find one on ebay.

First, let me get the few flaws out of the way. The game has an annoying camera angle, and sometimes it can get very frustrating that you’re not able to get off your skateboard and walk (like in Tony Hawk’s Underground).

But it’s not too hard to get over the flaws once make your first ollie. The feeling of accomplishing an ollie with a flick of a joystick rather than a button is thrilling. You’ll quickly (relatively) pick up on gameplay as you go along the very large are of “San Van”.

In just a few hour to a couple days, you’ll be flawlessly pulling of 3,000 point combos. All in all, Skate is an excellent game. If the developers spend a little more time actually playing the game themselves, they would have figured out how frustrating it is to not be able to walk up the stairs by getting off your skateboard, and actually have to skateboard all the way around a building just to try the same trick over the staircase.

This isn’t a very comprehensive review, but to anyone on the fence about purchasing this product, I’d say that this game will not disappoint. And I have very high expectations for Skate 2 coming out in 2009.

Absolutely superb, addictive game. Ive never played anything quite like Portal before. Its unique, almost like a puzzle game but with more skills required, challenging, hilarious, with endearing characters.

I also love that Portal 2 supports multiple players. Couldnt recommend it more. Wish theyd make more games in the series.

Portal is an exceptional game. However, that little game was only a little experiment done by valve. Now, the sequel its the full experience. It has a complete story with funny characters and villians, and besides the typical portal gun challenges, there’s also areas with paint from different colors that alter the way you interact wit gravity.

For example, orange paint gives you a lot of momentum, which helps you slide around, while blue paint lets you bounce on the ground. This is an amazing game, up there with the best of this generation.

Arguably my favorite video game of all time, Portal 2 offers a hilarious, witty, and oddly poignant single-player campaign. An incredibly balanced experience that is both challenging and rewarding, especially in the cooperative campaign.

Great attention to detail, great characters, and great music. As someone who doesn’t normally play puzzle games, all the other elements of Portal are enough to draw in any kind of gamer.

This was a Game, case and booklet purchase for Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition. The condition of the game, and all contents was near perfect, it looked brand new. DKOldies has been wonderful with every purchase made.

The gameplay is incredible considering it’s a handheld system. There is no lag in play, I am very happy with this purchase.

Most portable fighters nowadays are either riddled with IAP, or horrible gameplay. This is a great port of an amazing game. Though the characters are a bit lacking in the 3D edition, the ease of gameplay more than makes up for it.

Being able to create moves with and without using the touch screen is great, allows for customization, and the game has many more modes if one is bored. The multiplayer is fun, still active to this day, but because the game allows auto-block and certain options, many players take that to their advantage to instantly demolish other players not using auto-block.

For the price here, youll definitely spend hours on each character, figuring out movement, counters to characters and super moves.

Launch titles for new consoles generally possess an air of the over-familiar the rush to get them ready for the first day in the shops habitually involves using assets from a version made for an older console.

But Super Street Fighter IV feels commendably fresh on the 3DS. Street Fighter games almost by definition recycle their predecessors, with their cast of familiar characters, and never have any form of plot to worry about.

Capcom has therefore been able to concentrate on what the 3DS can bring to the party. And Nintendo’s 3D marvel turns out to be very well suited to beat-em-ups. The key reason for that is its graphics chip, immensely more powerful than those of previous Nintendo handhelds, which brings visuals akin to non-portable consoles, rather than forcing developers to make 2D graphics appear three-dimensional.

To show off the stereoscopic 3D, Capcom has come up with an over-the-shoulder view which can be toggled on or off, that works beautifully, although arch-traditionalists (who are rife among the ranks of beat-em-up aficionados) may still opt for the original side-on view, which is turned on by default.

The touchscreen also plays a part again, one which might upset the hardcore following, but which will delight those whose fingers aren’t stroboscopically rapid. During bouts, the touchscreen is split into four, each denoting a special move, which you can launch with the touch of a thumb, as long as your Super Combo and Revenge gauges are suitably charged (the latter, which lets you launch Ultra Combos, is only filled when you’ve taken a lot of punishment).

They take a while to recharge, and you can select two of your favourite special moves, but hardcore Street Fighter-heads would view them as a travesty. You can turn them off for head-to-head play, or set them to ape the function of the ordinary buttons.

And, of course, you can perform special moves in the conventional manner, with various arcane button combinations plus gestural movements of the analogue circle pad, which provides the control system with the silkiness it has previously lacked on Nintendo handhelds.

All the familiar Street Fighter characters 31, to be precise are present and correct, while the classic Arcade mode is augmented by various ways of playing human opponents: locally, via the Internet or via Download Play, which lets two people take each other on if they only have one copy of the game between them.

A bewilderingly customisable Training mode lets you hone your skills, and Challenge mode measures your ability to produce specified combos at will, and includes two mini-games involving punching barrels and a car.

Super Street Fighter IV 3D, despite being a beat-em-up, is one of the most grown-up-feeling games we have ever encountered on a handheld console. It is commendably lacking in compromise and makes good use of the 3DS’s unique abilities.

Even those hardcore fans who worry it has been dumbed down will find out that, in practice, it hasn’t. Impressive stuff for a launch title.

This is pretty much like Mario Kart in SNES or Crash Team Racing and Chocobo Racing in PS1. The main difference is in the fact that this is based on Aerial Fights or Race. You can design your own planes and upgrade your plane’s power with special stuff that you unlock as you complete Boss missions.

You can also design your own character and make it as cute and kiddish as you want to. Each plane has a default machine gun weapon that can overheat, and for non racing session, you can fire missiles with your planes.

If you go around the fighting/racing area, you can find power ups/special weapon like Orbital Satellite and F-Beam and other cool stuff you can fire at your opponent and KO them, but everyone respawned anyway, until timer reaches zero.

In some missions, you’d be challenged to race/fight without power/special weapon and the area you play is really cool with all kinds of tunnels and secret areas for picking up special weapons. The only thing I dislike about the game is when I race, I’ve got to go through a certain checkpoint at quite a precise spot, though game-wise this make sense.

This is type of game thats hard to find in PS3 after leaving SNES and PS1. If you are fond of Mario Kart, Crash Team Racing, and Chocobo Racing, you probably enjoy this game, the aerial fight and customization features adds a totally new flavor to this kind of game.

I was surprised when I got this. I bought it for my 10 year old nephew and enjoyed it so much I got a copy for my self. It’s not really “The Sims”. They just talk like the sims but that’s about it. If your after a plane simulator then this is not for you but if your after a fun dog fighting game then you will enjoy this.

I would recommend this to kids and those that just want fun game to play.

Fun story line and great condition game but it wasn’t what I was expecting. Definitely different. Wouldn’t recommend for people that enjoy MySims regular, kingdom, or agents. Good game though.

I play all kinds of games except sport ones. In this game there are some rather challenging parts which, while that’s the point, there isn’t time for a recon or a breath; fighting one boss, I can see more ammo, but am I allowed to get to it? No.

If the boss is allowed a laser beam that is on me 100% of the fight and I’m not allowed to pick up some ammo, forget it. That’s not how I want to play. How did I beat her. ? I was so frustrated I ran at her and didn’t let her get any distance to shoot me.

I was actually surprised by the result. But then came the next one; your suit gives you the ability to jump and hover and I jumped every time the monster threw ice at me, intending to jump over it. it got me every time; bad luck? bad judgement? or meant to be like that? Whatever.

I did not finish the game.

I’m really surprised at Capcom with this one. Though this disc ended up damaged, I read other reviews and from the descriptions, it’s more movies than playtime. I believe it because less than 1/2 the DVD was burned.

I bought the Lost Planet 2 online from Microsoft, and though it’s a challenging game, it’s way too short. All of the sections can be completed in less than 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. This is not what I expect from Capcom when I compare it to the Resident Evil series (especially RE6 and RE Revelations).

Granted, it’s a much older game, but I don’t think it’s worth the money unless you can get it for really cheap AND I would recommend the sequel, Lost Planet 2 over this version.

I’ll start off by stating that I’m a huge fan of Capcom and the Xbox 360 and I had been anticipating this title for some time. Sadly the game failed to live up to my expectations and a lot of the hype surrounding it.

First and foremost it should be noted that the game is beautiful. It’s a technical marvel from the highly detailed VS’s that you pilot to the wind whipped snow your eyes will be watering from the graphical intensity of the game.

Unfortunately amazing graphics don’t always equal fun and engaging gameplay. Basically Lost Planet can be summed up as a “next-gen” arcade shooter. Stages are generally made up of “missions” that require you to battle your way through the various Akrid or Snow Pirate infested areas to fight an end-stage boss.

The enemies remind me a lot of the insects from the movie Starship Troopers and are fairly inventive at times, though just like the Snow Pirates they feel more like cannon-fodder than anything else. They all display limited a.

i. and often stand around while you gun down their buddies right next to them. Controls are fairly spot on, though for some reason your character you control runs at an agonizingly slow pace and the slightest hit from and enemy has him reeling to the ground where you’ll probably spend 3/4 of the game.

And what’s worse when you stand up the enemy is usually waiting to knock you right back down again. This is especially prevalent in the boss battles and gets frustrating to the point of wanting to hurl your controller through the wall.

Storyline wise the game is pretty nonsensical Japanese fare. Your father was killed by an Akrid named “Green Eye” and you’ve forgotten your memory and now you must attempt to regain it by helping a small band of snow pirates intent on destroying all the Akrid Hives on the planet.

Fairly unoriginal stuff, but then that’s a lot of the stories in games these days. Multiplayer over Xbox Live is a fun diversion, but don’t expect this to take the place of RB6: Vegas or GRAW 2 it just doesn’t hold up that well.

The biggest annoyance is the fact that your character runs entirely too slow for the past paced nature of the game and the fact that some of the maps are so huge you’ll often wander for minutes until you find the battle only to be killed and spent back to the spawn point miles from the battle.

Also the lobby system in the game is a pain even though Capcom released a patch for it you still can’t change game types, pick starting weapons, or change maps without destroying the room and having to re-invite all your friends again.

Overall if you can look past the games imperfections and appreciate it for it’s beauty you’ll have a good time, just don’t expect something along the lines or RE4 or other Capcom hits because they’ve released better.

This remastered version does not play like the original version. You can not free roam and open world and choose your races or follow a quest line. Cops only chase you when you are in a chosen race.

The latest iteration of the Need For Speed series returns to the fan-favorite Hot Pursuit edition of the franchise. Even better: Criterion Games, most famous for the Burnout series, delivers a perfect-or-quite-close-to-it installment.

At first, steering your vehicle seems a bit stiff, but it’s part of a buildup to faster rides that handle better. A Dodge Charger feels dramatically different than a Bugatti Veyron. and the effort it takes to move up feels more than worth it.

Plus, there’s an emphasis on arcade-style drifting, with more of a focus on preparing for the turns by braking or letting go of the accelerator for a second (or holding the line if it would be faster).

Since the developers of Burnout are involved, also expect to spend a fair amount of time boosting with nitrous and racing in (and dodging) oncoming traffic. The graphics are definitely noteworthy; the cars look absolutely gorgeous, even moreso when you’ve crashed, or caused another racer to do so.

It also helps that Criterion crafted a very aesthetically pleasing setting to wreak all this vehicular mayhem on: Seacrest County features waterfronts, deserts, mountains, forests, and more. but back to the racing.

There’s no shortage of it here, as the career modes are quite long. Not only do you progress through ranks in 40+ events as a racer making a name for yourself, you can also prove your worth in speed enforcement with a equally lasting career as a cop, as well.

There’s speed runs, hot pursuits, races, and gauntlets – a mix of evading the police AND trying to set a fast time. You will be learning Seacrest County’s roads while gaining new equipment, to either help you finish races or hinder suspects participating in them.

When you’ve honed your driving enough, take your skills online, where a couple of online modes extend the life of the gameplay. Not only that, but they prove to be quite addictive and enjoyable, sure to extend the package even further.

There’s 4-on-4 Hot Pursuit mode, the highlight of multiplayer, featuring intense racing while dodging police officers controlled by other players. Another mode is Interceptor, a cat-and-mouse game between a cop and a racer, one that can get quite frenetic and exciting.

Last but not least, a pure racing mode exists, where you can race up to 7 other drivers to show off your finesse. In addition to everything else, Autolog proves to be quite a fun treat of a feature; it allows you to keep track of, and constantly compete with, your fellow racers.

Whether it’s how many online races you’ve won, or how fast you were compared to your buddies, it automatically tells you how you fare amongst your online friends. Not to knock the previous “review” too much, but suggesting Forza 3 or Gran Turismo 5 is quite pointless: Need For Speed has been and always will be arcade-style racing.

It’s easy to pick up, difficult to master, and hard to put down. It’s definitely worth checking out: a complete package plus more, and easily the best arcade racing game this year.
