20 Best Worms For Texas Rig (2023 Updated)

I’ve been using the Creme Rigged Scoundrel Worm for almost 60 years. I ordered these because two months ago a landed a 4 pound large mouth bass on my first cast and it ripped the worm body from the hook.

Nothing can compare with this worm.

I picked up a couple of these on basspro. com. For the price they were definitely worth a shot. The weed guards were bent pretty bad when they arrived but I bent them back and they haven’t snagged on anything yet.

This lure has a great setup that features a little bit of everything it seems! They work well in heavy cover and really draw the fish out. They get worn out fairly quickly but for the price per lure and the ease of catching fish I won’t mind buying more.

This lure is absolutely amazing. i found it in my tacklebox one day when i was fishing for perch on the shores of the patuxent river, so i decided to try it out. i put 2 light splitshot sinkers about a foot up from the lure, and was catching perch, rockfish, croaker, and spot nonstop.

i caught 48 in 2 days of fishing, and quite a few keepers. only downside is that the worm breaks easily, but it comes with an extra worm and they are very cheap! i reccomend this to anyone for bass fishing, or even for perch and rockfish!.

My go to worm for years has Been the Zoom speed vibe, but ever since these came out, I haven’t even thrown the zoom. The action in the blazin worm is parallel to none. Something about the blazin worm makes the sketched out bass take a chance they normally wouldn’t.

That’s what I love about them. Paired with a 2/0 Googan hook and 3/8 tungsten green series you can’t beat it. You just can’t compare anything else to it honestly. Also just purchased 2 more packs of the nightclub blazin worms because I went through the 1st pack within an hour.

Picked up a few packs of these to try out. They look fantastic in the water and do exactly what they are designed to do and the bass absolutely crush them. My only gripe is only being able to get about 2 fish tops out of one.

Also, if you’re fishing ponds with smaller bass. Prepare to constantly lose the tail! Really though if you have a good stock of these, then who cares because they WORK!.

Smooth action and long lasting. This bait goes perfect with any combo you set it with or works perfect as stand alone. This universal bait can swim across the top of the water or bounce it across the bottom on the back of a jig.

Love how functional this worm is to use in any situation. The durability gives longevity to get multiple strikes and no other bait looks like the blazin worn nor can compete with its action.

I’ve tried so many different brands of the Popper style baits and after testing them I have to say this is the ticket. It casts further than the Rio Ricos, great hardware, walks the dog with straight line to guide, and the fit/finish/color choices are excellent.

If I could only take 1 popper bait to a tournament I would be confident taking this. Hats off to Strike King for making a top shelf popper at this price point.

I’ve been using the 6. 5″ KVD Finesse Worms for several years and like ’em a lot. I don’t know what it is about the Strike King KVD formula that makes a difference but I’ve tried other brands in same size and color and they just don’t get as many bites.

I also use the 5″ Fat Baby version for a slightly different presentation and they work well for me. I use both sizes on a shakey head jig and they are killer.

This worm outperforms all similar styles. Ran out the other day while catching several rigged on 1/4 Oz Shakey head. Tried similar zoom mag finesse in same color with no results. Much better action than zoom.

Softer bait seems to make a big difference on the action!.

Drop shot this Roboworm and hold on. Works everywhere, especially Bass. Have caught bluegill, pickerel, pike in NY, small and largemouth in Colorado River to sure fire bass in lakes in SOCAL. Can’t MISS with a drop shot.

Bold Bluegill is also a can’t miss.

I’m newer to bass fishing and these came pretty highly recommended by others. Decided to try it out. As other reviews have mentioned, really great action on them and versatile rigging. Very impressed with the Roboworm as well as Discount Tackle.

Really great product for large mouth Bass fishing. When the bite slows down on the shaky head and Ned Rig I can always depend on Robo worm on a Drop Shot Rig to get a rally going. The action of the Robo worm is just amazing and the Bass can’t resist it.

I tried the Yoto Worm in Junebug Gold 4. 75″ for the first time this morning in a small lake/pond. I used it on an offset shaky head jig and skipped it off the bottom and swam it like with a standard round ball jighead, and I caught two little juvenile largemouth and a nice looking 17″ largemouth.

The action looks fantastic skipping around the bottom or just gliding through the water. I look forward trying out different colors and might use the smaller size on a Ned rig next week. I was optimistic trying this out today, but I’m blown away at its success compared to other soft plastics I’ve tried over the years.

I normally don’t review products, since I use such a variety and don’t believe many have a significant advantaged over others, but this worm is exceptional. I’ve caught bass on this t-rigged, weightless, on a shakeyhead, and new favorite: on a chatterbait.

It absolutely gets crushed on the back of a chatterbait, shakeyhead works great too dragging/flicking it across the bottom. Always have a pack of these lying around when trying new places with bluegill forage or whenever I’m throwing a chatterbait.

Great durability and scent. Green pumpkin peal and sungill are the colors for me.

I love this lure and cannot say enough good things about it. Got it first in a mystery tackle, and have bought many a packs sense. My first back out of mystery tackle I caught over 25 fish off of. Super durable plastic that can be rigged and re used multiple ways ( until the “tickle tail” gets chewed by a gil, loses too much action when the tail gets bit) Can be used very similar to a Fluke and same style of slow fall.

My daughter and I tournament fish together and we have found that the Strike King Cut-R Worm is our go to lure when we need to put a fish in the boat. I love that action of the worm and we have found that it is now one of your most reliable worms in the boat.

I have at least 2 tied on each time we go out to fish. One in each size. Daughter put her PB in the boat with it this year. I will not go a day without using one of these worms and I have yet to have a day where the Cut-R worm has not put a fish in the boat.

Came across these on YT and decided to give them a try. Bought the basic colors Green Pumpkin, Watermelon Red and Junebug and the GP was the first one i tried, got a nice 2lb on the second cast and then a smaller one on the fifth cast but i didn’t tried the other colors since GP was doing a good job.

Will try them out soon but based on how good the GP was, i have no doubt they will kill too!.

Great thump action. Definitely gets bigger fish’s attention. Just wish there were more colors to choose from.

I have used Zoom’s Magnum Finesse worms for a long time but two years ago I started using them wacky rigged in very clear water in the summer and early fall. They work especially well at the edge of vegetation or above submerged vegetation.

The key is to fish them SLOW! Fish them weightless wacky rigged and allow them to slowly fall completely to the bottom (most hits come on the initial fall). Then raise rod tip high and let t hem fall to bottom again.

Most hits feel like a tick or thump but sometimes you feel nothing and the line just starts moving as the fish moves off with the bait. Green pumpkin, watermelon, and pumpkin color categories are my favorites.

I use a size 1/0 finesse hook and 15 lb fluorocarbon line.

I’ve been fishing for 60 years, and never have I had the success I’ve had this summer (’22) using the Zoom finesse worm. Put simply it x catches largemouth. Caught a 6 lb’r midsummer on the black colored finesse worm.

Also, caught an 18″ and a 14″ that same day. I use this mostly in the ponds I fish in Southeast Ohio. Never leave home without them.

I have been catching bigger numbers with Zoom’s 5” Shaky Head but a lot of younger, smaller fish. I found the 7” Shaky Head and let me tell you the size of Bass I started catching was phenomenal!!! After the spawn can be tough in the heat of summer, slow it down and finesse those bigger Bass!!! Bravo Zoom Bravo !!!.

I caught so many Large mouths and Spots on the Summer Craw and dipped the tail in Garlic Dye and caught fish after fish rigged with a 1/10 Oz Ned head. Always got these in my Kayak and in my fishing tackle.

These have a nice flutter on the fall. I throw the. With a really light Texas rig. Quick jumps and slow falls. The Morning Dawn color works well in med-light stained water.

I love this bait. It provides the finesse of a ned rig but the action of the tail on the fall as well as when on bottom makes it unique. Having great success with it.

First of all, let me start off with a bit of history. I have been using both green pumpkin, and morning dawn regular 4. 5″ roboworms for years. They’ve been my go-to bait for a drop shot, AND I’ve also used them for carolina rigs as well when I needed to down-size my baits.

I actually ran out last week before a trip to the lake so I ran over to my local bass pro and to my horror, they were out of regular straight tail roboworms. but they did have the FAT version, as shown here.

I had never tried this version but I figured as long as it floated and danced like a regular roboworm does, then it was going to work. so I bought 3 packs, all in morning dawn/morning dawn w/ chart since they had no green pumpkins left.

Went out to the lake, and was trying a bunch of topwater and other reaction style lures, and nothing was working. This place is highly pressured, and with pretty clear water. Not to mention it was blue-bird skies, and pretty hot.

So I took these out of my box, threw one on a VMC spin-shot hook w/ a 1/4 oz weight. and it saved the day. Ended up getting a limit of bass relatively quickly. They just work. These, and the KVD dream shots are the only things I’ll use when using a drop-shot rig.

They just work. The FAT ones may become my new favorite, but I’ll probably continue using the regular versions in both 4. 5 and 6 inch. If you haven’t tried using these with a drop shot, you’re missing out.

When nothing else is working, these will. Let the bait impart it’s own action. Shaking it too much can spook the fish away at times.

The technology behind these awesome baits is beyond expectations! And to a patient angler he’ll be setting hooks all times of the day! Early mornings working cover and surface to 20 ft! All day work a Ned rig or Texas rig and get ready cause bass love to attack this worm!.

Worms and stick baits are my first bait of choice. These are good worms, and have a little extra plastic. Good to use when the bite is a little hard.

Single best worm for Texas rigging for largemouth. Results in keeper bass 80% of the time—although you will occasionally get one of those bass that is shorter than the worm they are trying to eat. I catch LM and spots on this worm year round—and so do many others that are not willing to share that with you.

Zoom trick worms get all the publicity but this is their Money Worm, make no mistake!.

I spent 15 dollars on these worms on 3 different colors and got a total of 60 worms. 27 cents a worm is just a price you truly can’t beat. They also are very durable and last much longer than the average soft plastic worms.

I was debating these worms or rebuying Googan Mondo worms and I don’t regret buying these worms do to their higher durability and better price per worm.

I love these in all black. I think these are the perfect size between a stick worm or 6″ curly tail and a larger item like the ol’ monster or ol’ monster magnum. They are more versatile than stick baits because they have decent action on the retrieve and can be used on the fall like a stick or on a moving retrieve almost like a swimbait.

Definitely something to have at all times!.

This is an incredible worm. I did the tail in chartreuse spike it. If the bite is slow put a 4 mm glass rattle in it. I get LOTS of bites on this worm. Most water color is either clear, stained, black or greenish brown.

Try to match your worm to the color of the water. The U tail is very lively and generates quick strikes. I’ve caught bass up to 6 lbs on this worm. Cons. they are very fragile. Usually I only get about 2 fish per worm.

Cant beat this worm. Bass hit this with the a little good taps. Can go wrong with Chartreuse. Clear, murky, or dark waters, them fish no where to find it. Tungsten with a glass bead sometimes does the trick.

This is an outstanding product and an outstanding color. Zoom is a really great company and they take great pride in their products. I prefer Mag II worms but I like this color. Academy has them at the right price.

These 5 inch paddle tail worms have been the bait of choice for largemouth this spring. They have outcaught everything else we have tried, ane we have tried a variety of different products. We went through 3 packs in 2 days and none of the local fishing suppliers had these in stock.

Discount Tackle had them in stock and they were $2 per pack cheaper than the packs we had previously purchased. Also received them in 2 days. Great product. My brother caught a 4. 1 and 5. 1 on the black with blue flakes on the same day.

Those are above average size catches for our area.

One of my all time favorite baits. I like to fish it with no weights. Pull it and let it drop – like a worm. Draw it back slow for a consistent swimming action. Texas rig it and throw it like a jig into cover.

This is a great bait no matter how you fish it!.

These worms work under all conditions. The only downside is that their softness doesn’t lend itself to a long life span. However, I can’t remember the last time they didn’t catch fish for me, and that’s always the bottom line when it comes to bass fishing.

Have used these baits for a lot of years and have no intentions of looking for anything new. A great bait at a fair price–you can’t go wrong.

On a recent trip to Lake Obregon in Mexico, I used the “Zoom” 12″ Magnum Ol’ Monster worm. This is a big piece of plastic. I thought it would intimidate, rather than entice, the smaller bass. Not so.

Using this worm, I caught a spawned out 7 lb. largemouth, and on the very next cast, with the same,but tattered bait, I caught a ten inch bass. I would not hesitate to throw these baits in any lake. Largemouths prove to be more aggressive than the credit I afford them.

Thank God they don’t grow to 60 lbs. , ’cause there’d be a lot fewer ducks, geese, and grandchildren swimming in our lakes. If your line’s doin’ something it ain’t ‘suppose to. that’s your clue. a bass ain’t got hands.

I recently purchased the Zoom Magnum Ole Monster Worm, Junebug Red color; went fishing on the New Moon in July, a hot, windy day with a heat index of 107 degrees, and only caught 2 bass – one at 8# and another at 3#.

I can’t wait to try this amazing worm again ! You don’t get as many bites as you would with a BPS River Bug, a Zoom Z-Hog or a BPS 6″ Stik-O, but you do get bigger fish. I very highly recommend this 12″ long worm.

Zoom is one of my go to brands for plastics. The durability of their plastics is top notch. I’ve been using zoom lures since the 1990s and I will continue to use them.

I am a big Ned rig fan. I have never seen a bait catch more bass. I used the ZMAN TRD exclusively for a while. My youngest son bought me a pack of these to try. I was surprised how well they worked. I now use these instead of the TRD.

The color selection is great. The salt impregnation probably helps the fish keep the bait longer also. Their only downside is that they tear much easier than the TRD, so the cost is more. That is why I didn’t give them 5 stars.

The texture, colors, and quality of Robo are top notch!! These also give a different look than the TRDs. Give the fish something different is the difference from getting bit!! Like I said check out the colors.

I fish a pond that was an old rock quarry. Main forage is bluegill. I used the pumpkin seed bluegill color and caught 12 fat bass. Including a 4, a 5 and a 6 pounder. Fun fishing on light tackle. Getcha’ some!.

If for some reason you have never used a Zoom Trick Worm. you are missing a ton of fish. Great action and all the great color options. You need a few trick worms. trust me. Texas rig, shaky head or even wacky style.

I use the Zoom Sand colored finesse worm when I fish my pond in South Carolina. I use it with a small, either silver or gold, Johnson spoon depending on weather conditions. This plastic worm never lets me down.

The fish love the action / color combination. I recommend this artificial worm to all of my friends.

This has been my “go to” worm for the last 10 years or so. That dates back to when Reaction Innovations made a worm virtually identical to Zoom’s Ol Monster 10. 5. Then Reaction Innovations quit making it, and Zoom added California 420 as a color for the Ol Monster.

Anyway, this worm in this color just catches fish. period. I fish a lot of shaky heads, a good many senkos, and I also like the big dead ringer. I just wish Zoom would make it in California 420.

For years if I wanted to use a worm I would just hook up a live night crawler. However once I started hooking more bluegill and sunnys I wanted to move away from them. I kept noticing my buddy was using these worms and was hooking good size bass frequently.

After a few years of watching him do it I finally bought myself a few packs last summer and it was well worth it. Caught my biggest bass of the summer last year on a black 10. 5 inch ol’ monster worm while walking along the shoreline of a lake at night.

I dropped it a little bit in front of him, bounced it one time and that was it. Hooked into some other nice ones as well last summer and this spring once the lakes thawed out and I use this both on shore and on the boat.

But when it comes to night fishing, outside of the hoola popper this is my favorite lure to use. Bass just cant seem to resist the way that tail moves when its falling to the bottom or when its bounced in front of them.

Most of Googans soft plastics are pretty standard as far as the actual design goes in comparison to the market norm. however the mondo worm is a trail-blazer if you will. With one small yet defining adjustment, Googan has the most unique curly tail worm out there! They added the same flange ad the craw and bugs have but scaled it down and put it on the tip of the tail.

the action this worm makes coming through the water is unmatched and spectacular! A must have and my go to for sure!! Redbud+summertime= success.

When Googan first came out I was kind of sceptical of wether it was name brand or not. Ever since I used there bait for the first time I was convinced that is was a great line of baits. On to the mondo either size is great I like the smaller one for flipping trees in the spring, and the 10 inch for Carolina rig in the summer.

Every time I use this bait with the hammer hooks it always lands right in the top of the mouth, and the tail action is awesome.

This worm has really good action and produced quality bass during my last outing in July, in East Texas. The worm averaged 2-3 bass before having to be replaced, which I would say is pretty good for Texas rigged soft plastics, but not the best.

I love to support TX based companies, but mostly love to support quality products. Great job GS on continuing to produce quality products!!!.

Not my favorite frogs. Patterns are nice, and the size is fantastic, but the plastic is fairly hard, and the hooks are well below the back line of the lure, making the hookup ratio exceedingly low. I’ve had at least 40 solid bites on these frogs, with no hookups to date.

I have no trouble getting solid hookups with any of my other frogs.

Great cheap bait rather than the more expensive Zoom! This bait is extremely versatile: you can fish it on the top around points and laydowns, swim it underwater over objects, pads, grass, or use it like a senko.

I transition from Zoom to Yum because of the expense. Best colors for my area (stained water) is junebug, watermelon w/ red flake, or black. I’ve tried all the colors and the previous three work. This has truly morphed into my confidence bait! It is extremely durable.

I can catch about 5 fish before the bait is worn out. It also will not stay on the hook after a few tugs by fish. The solution is to bite about 1/4″ off the top, and re-thread it on the hook. Another alternative is to use “gel” super glue on the hook and thread it.

It’ll stay. Use it with a 3/8oz weight pegged or leave about 2″ from the bobber stopper. I also use a little chartreuse on the tail for the watermelon color (about 1/4-1/2″). Now the negative, the tail is extremely weak.

It’ll break if you rip it from cover, or miss a cast and it ends up in a tree/bush. The tail will rip partially or completely off. Other fish with serrated teeth will rip the tail. but hey, those fish will rip a senko too!.

Makes a perfect combination with a black & blue chatterbait! Also in white combination with a white chatterbait. It’s my Go-To combo lure….especially in cold weather.

Tip tail in Salt Garlic! Hold on! Used on OH Ivie last week.
