20 Best Work Pants For Electricians (2023 Updated)

I am a welder. I have been wearing these particular pants for a little over a year now. In total I have bought 13 pair of these particular pants. The pants are comfortable, flexible, warm and cool. Being someone who works in tight spaces and in various environments, I truly appreciate the comfortability.

The only issue I have is the knees get holes in them easily(here come the dirty comments lol) but it is the truth. The only holes I have ever put in these pants have been on the side and front of the knees.

From kneeling on concrete, roofs, grating, rocks etc. (knee pads and sparks do not mix. ) But I would still highly recommend this product.

My Dad was looking for a better fitting pair as he’s losing weight and had been a Dickies brand guy but complained the 32 was too tight in the crotch area, so we tried the Technician pants and the 32 does have more room! His only complaint is the zipper is a bit hard to work.

He’s used to the old Talon brand zippers which were always top line! Other than that, we like the overall quality and the ‘look’!! P. S. could use an extra belt loop near the front as he belt won’t reach the first loop (and it’s a long belt!).

First I ordered 4 pairs of pants. When I got them I tried on a pair. Walked around jumped up and down, squatted a couple times some knee raises a few burpees with Mike kicks. I fell in love with these pants.

BUT. Upon further inspection of my other pants two out of four had defeated belt loops. Sent a communication with the company. to which I have not received a reply. I did order two more pairs and waiting to see how to return these two defective pairs.

I really like these pants, they are very comfortable. I have two issues with them the belt loops closest to the button at the waist are too close to the belt loops on the side of the pants. Adding another two or three inches between the side belt loops and the front belt loops would be great.

The second issue is more serious. These pants wear out in the crotch quickly, the pants seem durable everywhere else but right next to the seam and the the point where the material joins and up the back side about three inches the material gets thin very quickly.

If this only happened to one pair of pants I wouldn’t say anything but I have 4 pairs of these pants and it has happened to all four. I have ironed in patches because the rest of pant is in good shape.

First off, these are great pants. However, these are not the same pants I purchased in the past. About 5 years ago I purchased a pair of Carhartt Twill 5 pocket pants and while relaxed, they were not overly big (fit just right).

This current iteration feels like I’m “swimming” in them (think Mountain Khaki’s original pants). Perhaps this is a country of origin problem. Not Sure where my first pair were made (current purchase made in Mexico).

Anyway, only reason for the poor rating is the fit based on previous experience. Hopefully these will shrink up a bit.

These are very nice pants. The fabric is soft and rich-feeling, not stiff and rough, and feels nice against my skin, but is not at all flimsy. Seams are flat-sewn, and lie down nicely. The pockets are made of sturdy material.

They are high in the waist, and they run long. My wife had to shorten them for me. They bind me in the knees just a little bit, which would be a problem if I was working in them, which I’m not. I think they will loosen up over time.

The front two belt loops are too far to the side and back, and need to be more to front and center, but that was not a big problem. They are more a casual pant than a rugged work pant.

Big waists with ultra skinny fit!! Do not buy these pants, it’s just not worth it. After reading several reviews on different websites I decided to give these a go. I ordered a size bigger as it was advised elsewhere but the size of them is just weird.

They are big on the waist,as expected as they’re a size bigger but then the rest of them are a fitted fit. This seemed ok until I got to work and put the knee pads in, when doing this the pants are now tight to my calfs.

The holster pockets are smaller than other models too and don’t have much room for even a tape measure! Overall they’re not fit for a normal size person and I’ve found out the hard way and can’t return them as I’ve taken the tags off and worn them.

I’ve worn Snickers trousers for over 20 years now so can’t compare them to other brands, these fit completely different to previous pairs, they are tight! Not in the waist, I found that the waist size fitted true, the fit is described as slim, I’m not over weight but if you are carrying any extra baggage these may not be for you.

I like to use the pockets on my trousers without showing everyone what is in them. Think I’ll have to give another brand a try.

Purchased these to replace a pair of Scruffs. These are ridiculously baggy in the leg widths, nobody wants to wear a pair of tights to work in but these are the other end of the extreme and you look like a kid wearing an adults pair of trousers that have been turned up in these.

Also loose stitching on some of the fabric joins straight out of the packaging. Returning to store today. How disappointing given so many tradesmen recommended these, I’d rather a cheaper pair of Scruffs.

Why oh why must FR clothing be made so poorly without the attention to detail put into most Carhartt products? I will say these pants are more comfortable than most of the FR pants on the market and the slight stretch to them is a much appreciated touch, however a couple of things really annoy me about these pants.

1st is the front hand pockets, the opening is so incredibly small I can barely squeeze my hand into them, and if you’re sitting down forget about even trying to get your hands in. And if you have gloves on or extra large hands you can forget about using these pockets all together.

The 2nd/3rd frustrating thing is the button and zipper. It’s like the button is too big to fit in the button hole. It takes so much effort to get these pants buttoned and unbuttoned I’ve found myself choosing my other FR pants because I don’t want to struggle with it.

I’m considering taking my Dremel to shave down the button, but should that really be necessary? The zipper is not as frustrating as the button, but still is so annoyingly difficult. For $100 these pants should not have these problems.

I’ll be searching elsewhere when looking for my next pair of FR pants.

I am a big fan of the carpenter and cargo pant style. These pants are comfortable, feel a little like jeans, but look like work pants. Always appreciated the pockets on both thighs so that my phone and wallet are kept separate.

They both fit quite well with and extra pocket on the right thigh for whatever. I purchased the 48×32 sizes and they are true to slightly small.

Can’t go wrong with Carhartt. These pants are well made, and fit a bit big so size down if you want a snug fit. This is the second time ordering from Marks where the store security tag is still on the clothing, not impressed.

I called customer service and feel they took a very long time to try to resolve this issue, as no I was not interested in returning them. Marks needs to do better in this area.

Been getting these pants for many years. Carhartt always does a good job. I wish the website was clearer that these have spandex (or some small amount of stretchy plastic) in them. In many ways it makes them better but I avoid plastics in cloths in part because they don’t get along with fire.

I am extremely disappointed in the weight and comfort of the flannel lined duck work pant. I have worn carhartt’s for years, along with other brands, but always go back to carhartt. I work in a potato warehouse where temperatures are around the low 40’s.

I have always been able to wear the flannel lined pants and be comfortable, whether I am moving product or sitting at the scale packaging. These new pants do not keep me comfortable. I am having to wear a pair of long johns underneath.

Last year I purchased Coleman lined pants at Sam’s club, I think for less than 20 bucks. They keep me warmer than the Carhartts. Please return to heavier made clothing or offer a seperate line. I am currently working in bush Alaska.

I like the durability of your pants but have to wear multiple layers to be comfortable.

Ordered several pair of these for multiple employees. We were having a hard time getting these due to supply chain issues caused by COVID. The guys always know what to expect with these. They’re heavier than standard denim jeans, which makes them feel stiff at first.

After a few washes, they do soften up. These are not meant to be straight or slim fit, they’re wider all the way down there leg. They do run true to size, so sick with your waist & inseam measurements.

I’m thankful we could get these & SUPER PLEASED w/ GEMPLER’S! Not only did they ship these quickly, nothing had to be backordered, nor credited, as they were able to ship all sizes that showed available & that I ordered (32×32 / 40×34 / 42×34) Gempler’s accounting department & customer service are superb! They handled our non-profit’s order without a hitch.

I would have given 5 stars but there are 2 things I’m not too crazy about. One of those things I can live with, (as strange as this might sound) but it’s the placement of the belt loops. They interfere with where I usually carry my phone.

The other problem is the utility pockets on the right leg. The fact that you don’t even put a full divider between the 2 pockets. This causes problems with tools getting tangled up down in the pockets.

This is a bad and cheap design. The fact that I can buy wrangler carpenter pants and they put a full divider. Doesn’t make you look too good on that. Other than that long explanation I really like the pant.

Fit great and warm.

I ordered two pairs of pants because my two year old pants were breaking. I was surprised how long I got out of use of my old pairs. So if course I went with the same company. I ordered with the idea it would take seven days.

It only took three days for delivery. That was my first mind blown. The first day of wearing my mind was blown on how well they held up. I work in housekeeping at a hospital. There is alot of bending to check for nasty stuff in rooms.

Last mind blown ended at laundry mat. I wash them and was shocked on how well they bounce back with little wrinkles. I would recommend them to any new coworker. I rate them four out of five because after wash the button came lose some.

Which scare me but nothing a sewing kit can fix. Totally worth the investment.

These pants are awesome! I love the way they fit. You may have to order 1 size bigger. I normally wear 38 waist. I ordered the 0’s because I’m a growing boy. 🙂 I like the way the cargo pockets expand.

With button snaps, they keep stuff inside. I’ve been trying to find the shorts on the website. I’d like to order a couple pairs of those too.

As a HVAC contractor I like pockets and want to look professional. These pants fit good and look good. (I hate big boot cut pants). The price was reasonable and they are thicker than others that I have.

That being said they will be nicer for the fall and winter, not so much my choice for middle summer in the attic. I absolutely love that there is in between average sizes. (33W33L) The waist is a little snug but I haven’t been wearing them for a too long yet, so they may stretch or relax.

The length is good though. Great paints overall.

Great pants. Bought during a promo where I would receive a $30 dollar bonus card to use later, never received the bonus card.

These pants are amazing, I’m a full time firefighter and live in them 48 hrs a week. No issues, very very happy !

I use these almost every day! The days I don’t is because I do dirty work!! The cloth and sturdiness is hard to beat!! They Are very durable and wash up wonderful! I cannot say enough about these! They are the best for dress or casual wear!! Thank you!.

Thought I needed Firehose or Carhardt, but the recent downgrades / redesigns opened the door to the competition. I wasn’t sure about the fabric before using them on the jobsite. Now I’m sold! Fit: @ 61, I usually wear a 34×32 in denim and canvas.

Trying these on I found these required 36×32. Comfort: After a month with two weeks with the heat index above 100°F, I found these extremely comfortable with NO sweat soaked fabric clinging to the thighs or calves restriction flexibility.

No swamp crotch (gross). I find these more comfortable on the jobsite than the denim or canvas on the construction site with thes 10hr blistering days. There is adequate room for a base layer when the temp drops.

The new found freedom of movement has been greatly apreaciated, the durability and snag resistance is as it should be and better than most at this price point. Wearing a full tool belt all day constructing a metal building can be rough on pants.

This fabric is much quicker to dry or feel dry. It never gets sticky which clings to thighs and calves. The front pocket hems are stiff and thin which makes clipping the Lufkin Shockforce tape a one-hand job.

The canvas and denim have always been a two-job to clip on. The single right leg pocket has room for a 3″ x 6. 25″ phone and a 12″ Johnson (magnetic level ;-). Suggested enhancement: Since I will be buying more of these, please add additional leg side pockets.

I’ve been wearing a different brand of pants that has articulated knees, and they are so comfortable that I wear them every day. I don’t even wear my jeans anymore. But they are very expensive. I was thrilled to see that Tractor Supply had these Ridgecut Ultra work pants with articulated knees.

They are extremely comfortable to wear. The fabric is rugged-it’s got those little tiny rip-stop boxes in it. It’s a nice mid-weight pant that I could wear all year round, here in New Hampshire. The rise is medium to high, which I am grateful for, so you can bend over without putting on a display.

The quality control on the waist is not great, and I took off a star for that. I found that some of the 32’s fit me, and some were way too tight at the waist, so I suggest trying several pairs before purchasing, to make sure they fit.

I haven’t had them shrink at all, but I wash in cold water and I hang dry. Overall, they are a bargain. Well made durable comfortable pants that are suitable as workpants or every day casual pants.

When I bought the first pair of these work pants I was delighted. the next week I went back and bought more. They fit well, had some stretch and seemed built to last. Alas! As others have noted, the Toughshield fabric was tough until the first wash.

After that, they stained easily and turned a pretty dingy shade of beige. I could live with that as they still seemed to be wearing well. Soon, however, all my pants developed a rip at the top seam of the double knee patch and I can tell you, the ripstop did not stop the rip.

By the time I got through working the leg was 1/3 torn off. Since this happened to ALL the Ridgecut Ultra pants I own I will never buy another pair. Thought I had found a reasonably priced, comfortable and tough pair of work pants: I was wrong.
