20 Best Wool Socks For Everyday (2023 Updated)

Fine wool that I can wear inside my leather shoes and aren’t too bulky yet keep my feet very warm!! Love them, best socks I can find without flying to France or Germany. I like the grey as they are feminine and go with everything but the dark brown also have my eye for next time.

I insist on only natural products like wool, silk and cotton, linen due to environment, no off gassing. I also love wool as your feet don’t sweat nor smell after a long day, no athletic funguses ever.

Polyester and many products are petroleum based and the volume of petroleum products in our personal care are unsafe for us, off gassing or generally decrease your immune health.

I’ve probably tried some 20 different styles of Smartwool socks over the past 20 years and this one is about as good or better as the original pair I bought 20 years ago at a cycling shop. Since the original pair, and probably the best, I’ve been on a quest to find the perfect Smartwool replacement.

Many have been good but were lacking in either fit, comfort or durability, but mostly DURABILITY. This style is much better in regards to pilling and shrinking too, which I despise. I have to limit the number of black socks in my drawer, so please consider more color options that include gray with an accent color band on top, for starters.

Art socks are great, but we need the basics too. In my opinion, the perfect sock is one sock- can be worn to the office, then the bike or run. Mid crew height and light cushioning is probably best all around concept for the true “One” sock.

Yes – these socks are expensive. And yes, they are worth every penny. I run 15 – 20 a week and do a lot of walking to. I’ve had every manner of ‘performance’ sock and for that matter all the not so good ones too.

These socks fit well, stay in place and have remarkable hold up from normal wear and tear. They snug in the right places and I have no discomfort whatsoever with these. No pinching around the middle of the foot, no restriction due to tightness around the top of the sock.

I like these so much I’ve bought 6 pairs now.

These socks are amazing for longer runs, longer hikes, and longer everything. They are pretty cushy in my opinion. I typically wear thinner socks, but actually really loved these. I felt like they fit very well in my running shoes.

I didn’t feel like my foot was wearing down in my shoe with the extra cushion. Of course Smartwool socks don’t move in my shoes and that is what keeps me coming back. I have worn and washed a few times (following smartwool guidance) and they still feel durable and the integrity of the fabric still remains.

If you typically have more slim fitting shoes, and you go towards thinner socks because of that I probably wouldn’t recommend these. I love having more natural fitting shoes, and these socks perform very well in these.

Another great fitting Smartwool sock. I fit anywhere between a 8. 5 and 9. 5 in shoes so I’m in-between sock sizes. I prefer a more supportive fit so the medium was perfect for me. If you like a looser fit size up.

The one thing i wasn’t expecting from a sock labeled “everyday” was how much cushioning there is. It’s just on the under side of the sock in strategic locations and it’s not really thick but it’s enough extra cushion to make these fit better in my hikers than my street shoes.

In the role of light cushioned hiker, they are fantastic. I can’t wait to rock these fancy looking socks out on the trails this summer. I can’t tell you about the durability yet as I’ve only just got them.

However they feel as solid as all my other Smartwool socks that I’ve had for years and they wash up just as easily. I only wash in cold and hang to dry so I’ve not seen them shrink at all. #smartwoollove.

I have LITERALLY lived in SmartWool Mountaineering socks since 1997. I buy 3 pr ever single year, and my wife EVERY YEAR without fail since 2000 had bought me 5 pr every Christmas. YES; over $160. 00 a year every year on SmartWool Mountaineering crew socks.

These socks have been reworked/engineered and are NOT the classic. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME. The knit is looser, they arent as thick on the sole, they removed the woven in size on the side of the foot, they are NOT as dense or heavy.

They are not as warm. They took a product Ive loved and lived in for DECADES and made it worse. Its a sad sad sad day in my mountaineering sock world. (and yes I even wear them all summer, either in my ATAC boots, Vasques or with my TEVAs) These ‘new’ socks called “Mountaineer Classic” IS NOT THE CLASSIC!!!.

I started gradually transitioning most of my wardrobe to Merino wool pieces about six months ago and now I’m a huge fan: socks, undergarments, tank tops, leggings, shirts, and headwear all around for everyday wear and travel.

I recently purchased a Smartwool Merino 150 Lace Baselayer long-sleeved top (color: Sparrow) that I love and have received so many compliments on. It’s soft, not super tight or loose, and a lovely color (I’m 5’4”, 125 lbs with a muscular build).

I can also wear it multiple days in a row without needing to wash it! It’s been through camping, hiking, air travel, and even worn to work and holding up great. I’m definitely ordering more of these layers for all seasons.

After trying them on and wearing them around, I liked these socks so much I traded in my other Christmas presents and picked up 8-10 pairs to use every day, since they worked well with work boots, hiking boots, and sneakers.

A bit more than a year later, I’m really regretting it. Even rotating through such a large number of them, so that each one wasn’t worn more than once a week or so at most, **every single one** of the socks has totally worn out at the heel/Achilles’ tendon, and many have also worn through at the sole and/or on top of the toe.

These really don’t last nearly as long as an ultra-expensive sock should. I have other Smartwool socks that have lasted much, much longer and these are a major disappointment – since the company touts its guarantee, I may try returning them.

These are really cute socks but are not the Smartwool quality I am use to and have been wearing for 10 years. I ordered 2 pairs of the same style in different colors. The gray pair had so many loose interior threads they caught on my toes.

The toe line stitching was very crooked so I returned them. The other pair twist on my feet and feel thin. I can feel the coolness of the floor through the sock. I think I will go to the store to get my Smartwool socks from now on.

They are a cute style, though.

Zero stars. I mailed back the socks the day they arrived. So many snags and construction issues. I buy only Smartwool brand socks for myself and family and tracked these holiday socks down for my husband’s stocking.

Biggest disappointment ever. I would have sent pictures but they have already been mailed back to you waiting to be credited back to me. I strongly suspect these had already been returned by another customer.

I work in a podiatrist office and used to recommend this brand- is have serious reservations in quality lately.

I purchased these online. Had I felt these socks in a store, I would not have bought them. Despite the high percentage of merino wool, these socks feel cheap & synthetic. The knit is loose, and there is NO cushioning, which is mentioned as a feature of these socks on both the sock brand’s website & MEC’s website.

In fact, the sole of the sock is thinner than the upper part. They are NOT warm due to the loose weave. My toes are still cold despite wearing these socks inside my well-known brand-name mini sheepskin boots which I use as slippers.

After less than 24 hours of wear, including sleeping with them, fine wisps of fibers are emanating from the sock yarn, creating pills themselves, or pills with other fibers the socks have contacted. Smartwool, you can do better.

Consumers, do not buy these socks.

I ordered these for my husband, who needs to wear steel-toe work boots all year long. Heavier socks are nice for winter, but I was looking for a lighter option for him during the warmer months. These socks are exactly what I wanted.

He says that they are comfortable without causing his feet to sweat. I am a dedicated Woolly customer – I have ordered underwear, tshirts, jackets, and pants from this company and the quality is top-notch.

And so is their customer service; on the rare occasion when something was not quite the right fit, they acted quickly to help me return the item and exchange it for what I needed. Great company!.

Living in Missouri, we see all four seasons. And in an effort to find the best wool socks, I’ve bought from all the major wool suppliers, like Smart Wool, Icebreaker, etc. And your Everyday Wool Socks are the warmest and most comfortable socks ever!!! I especially love the fluffyness that is missing in those other wool socks, who use a tight weave that is restrictive and just doesn’t seem soft.

For my feet neuropathy, they are the perfect solution.

I wear Merino wool socks everyday of the year as I find they are the most comfortable for me – regardless of weather. They breathe and have a little more cushion than cotton. That being said, Wooly is a new brand for me having worn the other well known brands for years.

I was a bit skeptical at first as I ordered them, but they were free as I had ordered some shirts. Well – these socks are awesome in my first two (2) weeks of wearing them. Very comfortable, washed well.

A little pilling (as expected) but not a huge amount. I will be purchasing these socks the next time I order.

I’ve been looking for a truly comfy, well made wool blend sock that doesn’t break the bank. I used to buy wool socks I really liked from an eBay supplier for several years, but they don’t have them anymore.

While these are a bit more casual looking, they are well made, comfy, easy to launder, and a great value!.

These socks are touted as “non binding”, “soft” and “comfortable”. WELL. They are a bit tight around my “skinny-normal” calves; they are certainly not soft and only reasonably comfortable. That said, I just ordered another pair.

Why? Well, my experience in trying to buy soft, comfortable, non-binding around the calf, wool socks is that I can’t find anybody that makes them like that. Mostly, the problem is that they are so narrow that they are impossible to get on, and then they strangle your calf.

THESE socks, are not perfect but much better in these areas mentioned, hence the second pair. In short, after much looking over time, these are the best (wool) socks I have come up with. The very best COTTON socks are VCS’s “diabetic” dress socks.

They are really great and I am not diabetic. In fact I don’t even see why they call them that. So, again, these wool socks in question are “pretty good”. Recommend you check them out.

The socks arrived with a large pull in the knitting. Rather than the hassle of sending them back, I repaired them myself to the best of my ability. I suspect they were carelessly handled in the packing but have no way of knowing.

My husband has developed edema in his feet in recent years and all his socks had become uncomfortably tight and restricting, because his feet are now larger due to the fluid accumulation. So we set out to purchase various brands of socks and knee highs, but none met all his needs until we came across these “Goldilocks” socks, because they meet his needs 100%.

He wears size 10 1/2 EEE shoes and the Extra Large socks are a perfect fit for him, after laundering. The top of the socks is truly non binding and yet the socks stay up all day. Great none itching Merino wool, great color and great design.

My husband finds these socks very comfortable. We are very pleased with this purchase and will soon order more.

I have purchased many good socks through the years and these socks are the Best value of them all. The quality and comfort are unbeatable. I works outdoors in all types of weather and I wear these for all seasons and climate.

The title says it. I’ve been wearing these socks for years. They are super comfortable and wear very well. They’re not heavy, but are fairly warm. I wear these from early bow season where temperatures are warm through the mid-season with uninsulated boots.

Right around the 40 degree mark is where I either need a heavier sock or have to go to insulated boots. I challenge anyone to find 4 pairs of wool socks of this quality at a better price.

Love these sox!!!! My food doesn’t sweat in them at all. I wear those super thermal boot in the winter as I work outside, I only wear cotton sox because any other make my feet heat up and sweat. Most of my sox are good but if i wear the boots for more than 8 hours they begin to accumulate moisture andnmy boots get wet inside.

I have work these for over 12 hours in those thermal boots — dry feet, warm feet, dry sox and dry boots. HH always makes great stuff, and these sox are one of the best I owned for the winter weather.

Highly recommend. Btw, I worked today in -27 for 9 hours wearing these sox and my feet never got cold.

I read the reviews on these socks which were mixed but decided to give them a shot anyways because they are HH, big mistake. Worst socks ever, very tight around toes and short for crew socks, thin material, tag says XL whatever that means but website description says 13-15 which isn’t even close.

Terrible quality and fit, an embarrassment for HH.

I use them for working out and in lace up ankle boots. Nice thick and warm quality. They stay nice too; good quality. No holes or piles after intense wear for months. It’s my second order of these socks.

Smartwool socks are the the best socks ever! They are so comfortable, no matter what I’m doing, I constantly wear them! They feel so good going on and coming off! I wear them to workout, hike, and just in general for everyday use! I love their designs and their logo on the socks! I do not even use any other socks anymore (except to mow/weed eat grass in)! I honestly may not have ever bought a pair, until I was introduced to these for free! My wife and I were on an anniversary trip and doing some hiking and we bought nice new hiking boots and the guy threw in a pair of #smartwool socks for each of us for free, and now I save $10-20 per pay until I have enough to buy multiple pairs (and I always grab my wife a pair also)! Great socks. They are a must have. I do 4-5 mile hikes several times a week. These socks keep my feet warm and dry.

So I’m on my feet all day as a Chef and what keeps me coming back to Smartwool sock is the cushion and support that they provide. Durable enough to withstand miles of wear without losing any quality .
