Wool for needle felting is a material that is used in the process of needle felting. Needle felting is a method of creating fabric from wool roving or wool felt. In needle felting, barbed needles are used to repeatedly poke wool roving or wool felt.
This action felts the fibers together, creating a piece of fabric. Wool for needle felting is available in a variety of colors and can be purchased from many different retailers.

Rated Really nice for quality only because I was given other wool that wasn’t so fine, so this was a little harder to work with and took more to get the same coverage. Rated Solid value because the one other online retailer I looked at was a little higher, but I am not sure how that wool would have felt.
Very fine wool, I purchased the woodsy and bright. I think those were the names. it was a good deal of wool though.
This wool is very clean and very smooth, nice quality. It comes in a variety of colors. I found it very easy to needle felt and will probably order again. Thanks Blick’s for always offering another great product at reasonably prices, plus fast and careful shipping!.
I just want to say that I love this wool yarn. I bought the primary colors and ended up buying the other colors in earth, pastels, and woodsy. I love the wool painting instructions and have made a few pieces of art with it.
So easy to use. I’m glad they were included on the website. Also, the colored yarn is very vibrant. I can’t wait to make more.

This wool is garbage. If you’re using this as a core wool for a needle felting project, there are plenty of better quality alternatives for less or equal the same price as this low quality product. Just do a simple search on any website other than this one.
This wool has debris and hay that must be picked out as you work on your project which can get very annoying.
Very nice wool. I just started recently and this has been very easy to work with. There is occasionally leaves or dirt in it, which is natural for wool but there hasnt been too much. Its a very nice quality and ive loved using it on my projects.
This states that it is 2. 2 lbs assembled in the description. This does not even weigh one pound. I thought for sure there would be multiple packages of 1. 76oz wool to make it, even with packaging to 2.
2 lbs. I was very wrong. This is expensive for the quantity.

Dimensions wool has always been a huge disappointment. constantly tangled and there’s so many foreign matter clumps & balls that it’s not worth the time it takes to make it usable. if you’re willing to spend hours recarding and washing out the wool it might be half useful but as it stands it’s just an awful product.
if you are serious about your projects STAY AWAY from dimensions. you can get the same stuff higher quality from local sellers.
This pack of Earth Tone Wool Roving Rolls by Dimensions contains 12 neutral colors of 100% raw wool, allowing you to add beautiful effects to your needle felting projects. Use with a felting needle. Part of the Feltworks collection.

Omg. My second pack, knowing full well the first was pretty bad already, but since I use low quality to make my mocks and tests, I figured, why not? Well, here’s why this should be off the market. Apart from the debris of organic materials such as dead leaves and stuff, it goes with the poor quality territory.
But when I find a piece of plastic and then a dead tick mixed in with the wool, I had to first calm my gag reflex down and then calm my panic down! I’m so terrified that there might be a live tick inside my house, I couldn’t help but throw it all out! Disgusting and appalling.
This company has no regard for its customers and the fact that Michaels carries such a horrible product is enough for me to reconsider buying anything from Michaels at all. What a waste of money. What a disappointment in Michaels.
This stuff is awful. It is curly and coarse and gnarly with all kinds of junk embedded in it. It doesnt even remotely relate to quality roving wool. No way to comb it straight. Hard to dig the junk bits out of fibers.
Not even sure it really is wool except for the label. Dont expect to do high quality felting with this stuff. The ONLY thing its good for is MAYBE as the core of other felting projects and even then youll have to make your own conclusions as to whether the junky bits inside are just plant particles or bug parts.
YUCK! Polyester fiberfil would do the same cores without wondering what the gunk in it is. Order the good stuff and, especially if you are a beginner, dont base your felting experience on this roving.
As i venture into yet another craft, I found that Dimensions has a whole line of products for Needle Felting. And since the reason this interest started was a book on how to create needle felted dogs and cats, these colors are perfect! No need to hunt for each color in roving wool, there’s a neat little package of them ready to go.
With Dimensions Needle Felting you apply a design to felt or some other natural materials using unspun wool roving, and a special felting needle. Simply use a poking motion with the needle to interlock the fibers.
Replacement Needle 6pc- This package contains 6 replacement felting needles: 3 fine and 3 coarse. Fine for delicate fibers and coarse for heavy fibers. The barbed needles are designed to mesh textile fibers for felting and applique effects.
Can be used individually or with other felting tools. Needle Felting Tool not included.
I am using the needles without the handle. it helps me with control and since I am holding the needles closer to my work, may be a reason why I have not experienced breakage as others have. However, I have had the set of needles out of the pkg and I wish they were individually marked (as sewing machine needles are) so that the size is evident.
Even with using a magnifier, I cannot tell the coarse needles from the fine needles!.
I really like this item and it works! I have had the felting needles for a day now and I all ready made a cow, three sheep, a horse, a goose, chick, a rabbit , and a heart! I love my new felting needles.
I would recommend this item to a friend. I like this item!.

These Felt rolls are made of 100% wool from Nepal in luscious colors to enhance purses, tote and wearables or they can be used to create jewelry and home decor items! This package contains one 12x12in felt sheet and an idea book.
Purchased the felt in several different colors. The width is about a quarter of an inch. No fraying on cut edges. Holds shape. I used the felt to create hand-stitched ornaments. Great for my project! Would have bought more, if there weren’t supply chain issues this past year, which kept some colors out of stock.
Wool-Ease is a 4-ply worsted-weight yarn that is so beloved by knitters and crocheters that it inspired an entire family of yarns. Wool-Ease is appreciated for its versatility and value. It has the feel, warmth and softness of wool, combined with the easy care of machine wash-and-dryability.
Its extensive colour range makes it easy to design with and perfect for every project from socks to afghans. 180m (197yds) and 85g (3oz). 80% Acrylic, 20% Wool. Machine wash & dry. 3 balls/bag. Knitting: 18 sts x 24 r on #8 (5mm).
Crochet: 13. 2 sc x 16 r on J-10 (6mm). Remember to ALWAYS check tension/gauge before beginning your project.
I knit double thick cuffed beanies for the unhoused neighbors in my community, using an Addi Express. Each beanie uses one skein. Wool-Ease is the only yarn I have ever used. My Addi works great with it.
Tip: Every skein or two, rub down the machine with a cloth with a little squirt of food grade silicone spray on it to reduce static build-up that can cause split or dropped stitches. We like the 20% wool in the hope that it will help add some warmth when the weather is wet.
The recipients really like their beanies. We wish that Blick would carry a chocolate brown, as the umber is too pale for our purposes. Our recipients currently like choosing among black, nightshade, forest heather, flint, and tawny port, and would love to have chocolate brown too.
We are very grateful that you offer this yarn at such a good price, and hope you will continue to do so.
I ordered this for curbside pickup and it was not plain white. I couldn’t see the silver thread online and nothing in the description mentioned Starlight (metallic name on linbrand. com) on Joann. com.
There was literally no way to tell that this was not plain white. I like wool ease but no one really wants this yarn. They have oodles of balls of this stuff and nothing in plain white. I don’t know if the Joann in Redmond even carries plain white, as there was nothing to exchange.
I am keeping it for now in hopes that the next city over has some so I can exchange it for white, thus retaining the sale price.
The first ball was fine and it knitted up well. It is a heavy worsted yarn. Ball two has been a nightmare. It’s full of “knots” where lengths are joined together. I came across so far two areas of frayed yarn.
I had to take out a row because the yarn is not useable. I’m now pulling out lengths of yarn prior to starting a row so I won’t have to stop in the middle of a row and go back and start the row again.
It’s an inexpensive yarn but I expected better quality.
Yarn is perhaps the most essential component of knitting and crochetingso how do you know which one is right for your special project. The fibre content of the yarn that’s right for your project will likely be determined by its end use.
Wool and silk yarns are great for warmththink sweaters, scarves and blankets. Use cotton yarns for durabilitygreat for fashion accessories, window treatments, and home dcor accents. A good rule of thumb is the more ornate the yarn, the simpler your projects pattern or shape should be.
Novelty yarns like boucle, marled, or variegated are perfect for shawls and blankets whereas more classic, plain varieties like smooth plied yarn are great for more stitching techniques. Categorised by the thickness of the thread, yarn weights range from 0 to 7 or lace to jumbo.
Use lighter weights (0-2) for socks and delicate baby apparel. Medium weights (3-4) are great for sweaters, scarves and light outerwear. Heavier weights (5-7) for best suited for blankets and rugs.
So, I love this yarn. It’s not perfect, but it’s a tremendous value for what it is – buy it on sale and it’s basically the same price as acrylic, which is great for me since I strongly prefer to work with natural fibers but I’m always on a budget.
It’s a sturdy undyed wool (all natural colors! I’m a huge fan of undyed natural wool), with lanolin still present, which makes for a warm and somewhat water-resistant end product. I love how my hands are soft and moisturized when I spend a lot of time working with this stuff.
It’s definitely not a fancy wool yarn by any stretch – this is not a super soft merino, and it’s not superwash so it’ll definitely felt. It can be scratchy if worn next to skin – I personally like a more textured wool, but even for me it can be itchy in more sensitive areas like my neck or face (I wouldn’t use it for scarves or hats, personally.
Works great for sweaters/cardigans, and it’s one of my absolute favorite yarns for blankets). Best value wool yarn on the market, by far.
This yarn is a stash staple in my craft room. I have found this yarn to be a light worsted\heavy dk, but works well in worsted gauge as wool blooms nicely when wet blocked. I love this yarn for any outdoors garments as it contains some light natural lanolin.
This will would make great diaper covers as it takes lanolin soaks well. I have used it for scarves, hats, shawls and blankets as well. I have both knit and crocheted with it. natural color takes both natural plant dyes and synthetic dyes very well.
Cannot say enough good about this yarn. I keep no less than a dozen skeins on hand. Watch the lots on large projects, they do have visual differences. Never had issue with too many joins in a skein. I love rustic wool, but I find this soft.
Have made baby outerwear sweaters with it. Washed well and wears like iron. Made my mans hunting sweater in this and it gets two thumbs up from him for cold weather protection and rain warmth too. I recommend this yarn whole heartedly.
I really enjoyed knitting with this wool. It was a really good price for 100% wool & a lot of it. It’s nice that such a huge brand actually has a nice wool in natural shades. It’s not an indie level-wool, but it has a lovely rustic handle and still smells sheep-y, which I love.
Classic Wool is a soft 100% pure new wool yarn for fabulous, resilient knit & crochet apparel and accessories. Gorgeous color palette! Great range of “stepping” shades, perfect for home decor as well as garments.
Lovely shades that highlight the latest trends- rich and modern. A favorite for felting.
I have made the same cardigan twice using yarn from HL. The cardigan took me 8 days to complete both times. I am currently making it a third time, and I bought this yarn instead of the HL yarn. I am on the 14th day because I can’t crochet with this yarn as quickly as I normally could.
The reason is because this yarn splits and snags CONSTANTLY! On average, about every 6th stitch, I have to take all the loops off my hook and start the stitch over. It is impossible to get any speed going with this yarn.
This cardigan is nothing but half double crochets, probably one of the fastest stitches you can do, but not with this yarn. I have been crocheting for over 40 years and I have never, ever had this problem with any other yarn.
I am also certain it is not a problem with my Furls hook – those are the only hooks I use and I’ve never had a problem with them either. I absolutely despise this yarn. You couldn’t pay me to ever use it again.
Someone asked me to make a crocheted sweater to give as a Christmas gift at the last minute. That meant there was no time to order yarn online, and I was limited to what was available in the local stores.
I consider it a Christmas miracle that there was enough in stock in the same dye lot to make the sweater. Not only that, but this yarn really exceeded by expectations. It is much softer than I expected and easy to crochet with.
Every color is the same, fairly soft, works to the same gauge every time. It shows excellent stitch definition for cables and stitch patterns. I don’t it holds it’s shape even when knit seamlessly from the top down.
I love it for sweaters and blankets. I think you will too.

Reviews From Real Customers
Loved the brightness of the colors, as well as the high quality of the wool. My daughter and I enjoyed making little needle felted ducks, and plan to make a wet felted mat. I highly recommend this packaged wool roving for both needle felting and wet felting.
It is one of the best kits, and I plan on ordering all the other colors.
Beautiful and soft, wonderful texture, and nice feel; lovely colors for sure! Great to play with and open ended play with much versatility and imagined play for little ones and mom, too! Great quality, nice kits, and generous amount for sure!.
The wool is soft and vibrantly colored. It is very nice to work with. I have purchased roving at another source that was quite rough in comparison to this. My son, 3. 5, enjoyed pulling off wisps of color to give to me while I needle felted ornaments.
He also enjoyed gluing wisps of roving to card stock to make holiday cards. My 10 year old is able to use this to needle felt on the felt pieces and is enjoying creating his own ornaments. This is a great kit for adding detail.
We are also planning on using scraps to felt some clothes and add beards//hair to peg dolls.
Dimensions Needle Felting Kits you can apply a design to wool felt, or other natural fabrics, using un-spun wool roving, and a special felting needle. Simply use a poking motion with the needle to interlock the fibers of both materials and they will join together as one.
Fox- 100% wool roving, felting needle, felting mat and step by step instructions. Makes one Orange and White fox with Black ears.
I have done a little needle felting so was familiar with the process and the amount of stabbing that was required to felt the wool I bought 4 kits for grandkids to do while we were on vacation. Some of the wool in these kits was almost “unfeltable”.
I was helping with the fox kit, and the orange wool would not felt. Other yarns in that kit were fine. In another kit one of the wools also wouldn’t felt.
It is a lot smaller then the picture makes it seem. My little guy ended up flat and not plump like the picture. Since it is a kit and directed at beginners, I would have liked few more pointers on how to actually felt.
WISTYRIA EDITIONS-Ultra Fine 100% Wool Roving. This roving is perfect for needle felting, wet felting, hair, costume wigs, weaving, spinning, locker hooking, and more! I bought this wool roving not knowing what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised! The colors are vibrant and it is soft to the touch. It is a great value for the price! I had browsed other websites for wool roving and I was so happy I found this package and many other colors here!.
Valley Yarns Berkshire Bulky 85% Wool 15% Alpaca color Lake Heather (Aqua)Valley Yarns Berkshire Bulky is the companion to the worsted weight Berkshire and shares the same single-ply of soft wool and alpaca.
This heftier yarn knits and crochets up quickly, it’s super soft and wonderful to worknot to mention fabulous for felting! My feedback rating is very important to me. I try to describe my items very carefully and provide good pictures.
Thoroughly enjoyed working with this yarn. I used 14 skeins to work up an original throw design for a custom order and the customer absolutely loved the end result. They were looking for a very specific.
Colored throw to decorate their bedroom and this turned out to be the color (Royal). The yarn is great quality and really soft and squishy. Good stitch definition along with the softness. Absolutely will be buying again as I’ve already had more orders to make this cabled throw.
The loveliest yarn from Peru. So lovely that you feel like you’re there yourself. If you’re getting ready to start a new creative project but need wool that doesn’t itch or scratch, then here it is. Lima from Hjertegarn is an incredible wool yarn that comes in lots of different colors.
It’s made from 100% soft wool, which makes it nice, soft, and comfortable on your skin, and it’s well-suited for items like sweaters. The sky’s the limit. And it’s also perfect for felting. Hjertegarn is one of the pioneers when it comes to yarn in Denmark.
The family business was founded in 1926, and its philosophy is to sell yarn at reasonable prices that anyone can pay. In their own words: “Knitting is a hobby, and a way to find peace and immerse yourself in something that you can fit into a busy life since all you need is a pair of knitting needles, a pattern, and some yarn.
These holiday bulbs are just the colors my mother loves & I’d never felted before. They were a win/win: I learnt how to felt and my Mom (& Aunt & me) all got one. There’s plenty of white, body wool and color, decorative wool in the kit, along with the needles.
One tip not in the paper instructions provided: roll the core wool up TIGHT before you start stabbing it with a needle (but noted in the video linked to this kit). I made a loose rollag one first and it won’t ever (no matter how many hours) firm up in the center… but I made a fun, squishy clown head out of it and still had plenty of wool to do three proper ornaments.
I look forward to seeing what the holiday kits will be every year and this one is especially lovely. Instructions are clear, the materials are precise and end result is beautiful! I use them to decorate packages and give as gifts, which is always so personal and one of a kind!.
Merino comes from Australian Merino sheep. One of the finest wools available for felting, this is suitable for wet and dry felting. It is a wool famous for its long and very fine fibres. Its lustrous finishes takes dyes brilliantly.
The Needle Felting Starter Kit is perfect for beginners and includes everything that you need to start your first needle felting project! No prior knowledge of needle felting is necessary available from The Woolery.
Lovely kit! I’m brand new at felting, but the instructions were simple. The quantities of wool were more than enough to get started, and their colors were vibrant. Great customer service experience too – the kit I originally wanted was out of stock, so their representative called me and helped me pick a different kit.
Woolpower Bigconsists of 100% pure wool and is unbelievable snuggly. In order to keep it’s natural look, the yarn is loosely twined meaning thickness may vary a little. However in return, the yarn will be soft and easy to work with despite the thickness.
Even though the yarn is burly, you’ll easily get a really beautiful and slightly rustic look in your projects. Sweaters, light jackets, cardigans, accessories, crocheted or knitted: Will all be lovely and warm in Woolpower Big.
Woolpower Bigcan be felted and is greatly suited to use for all forms of felt such as; slippers, blankets, pot-holders and other interior items. Needless to say, this can all be done with this bulkier version, and the colors between the two thicknesses match.
TranslateShow in original languageSehr schöne Wolle!
Wool is the perfect material for needle felting because it is strong and durable yet soft and pliable. It can be worked into any shape and is easily molded into the desired form. The fibers of wool are also able to trap air, which makes needle felting projects warm and cozy.
Additionally, wool is a natural material that is biodegradable and renewable, making it an environmentally friendly choice.
