20 Best Wool Coats For Women (2023 Updated)

I bought this coat in black from Macy’s because I love the style and fit. After wearing it for the first time, however, I now have stains on the beige leather armrests of my car where my elbows were.

They looks like blue pen marks, so I assume it was dye transfer. I know it was the coat because I commented on the only mark I saw as my husband and I started driving, and about 15 minutes later I looked down to find several more marks.

I have spent a few hours trying to clean the leather and researching how to get stains out of it. So far no success. I am very frustrated and disappointed. While I got a great deal on the coat, I can’t wear it again for fear it will cause more permanent damage.

I bought the Anne Klein walker wool coat 15 years ago and it was 70% lamb’s wool and 30% cashmere. I’m very pleased that this coat lasted so long, however it is starting to look worn and I need a new one.

The Anne Klein coat I just bought to replace it is 60% wool, 4% cashmere and 30% polyester. Cheaper materials have been used and yet the price remained high as if it was still 30% cashmere. If I was able to find another petite walker wool coat without a belt (which now seems to be in style) I would have returned this coat.

I’m disappointed in Anne Klein’s decline in quality.

As with all Anne Klein merchandise, this cashmere-wool blend coat is terrific! Soft, warm but not too heavy, with nice accent buttons and beautifully tailored lines to make it slightly fitted. Perfect shade of camel.

All this, and they price-matched the coat which was also being sold at Macy’s for a lower price. Great customer service. Would highly recommend!.

Love this jacket. Bought 2 colors. Contents wool and acrylic which is really a plus for me. Designed perfectly well. True to size. I sized up because I love my jackets and coats big. Will surely come back for more.

This was going to be my dress up coat! London Fog is such a fine brand, but this coat is a larger cut than the typical LF. I am tall and I have long arms but with the shoulder cut raglan style, the sleeves were at my knuckles! My husband laughed and said it would fit him! Well it swallowed him too! I couldn’t believe he actually put the pretty coat on! Well, sadly I am returning it and without ordering the next size smaller, because the additional shipping cost (x2) is not making me want the coat that badly.

I’ll figure out something else.

I bought this coat because it is London Fog, wool, and “red”; however it is NOT “RED”. The color is burgundy or wine. It is not the same color as the pictures! I wanted a coat the color “red” in the picture! Not happy!.

I bought this New Year’s Eve at Bloomingdale’s sister company. I originally paid around $200 for it before coming across this sale price here on BD. Despite difficulties getting said sister company to validate a fair price reduction to match Bloomingdale’s, I got my bill reduced and absolutely am smitten with this coat! The interior pocket is an added bonus! I also am so impressed with Bloomingdale’s professionalism and assistance with getting their affiliated store to comply with their company wide guarantee.

I wish I had a Bloomingdales here where I am. The coat itself runs true to size in my opinion. Respectfully, I believe the other people posting most likely are not familiar with the Calvin Klein brand’s sizing.

(or did not properly measure themselves) Nothing is wrong with that, but it explains their frustration in the coat either being too small or large. I favor CK, so I was not surprised when the size 2 was slightly big on me because a size 2 in their dresses (with a little room) is the equivalent of a 0 in a coat.

This being said: PLEASE RESTOCK IN SIZE 0 :).

Ever the optimist looking forward to a return to pre-COVID normalcy, I’ve been longing for a coat that works well with fine dining, theater, or business outfits. I found it here. The extra large fits my size 14 curves like a glove.

The deep green with a ring of teal color makes my eye sparkling and complexion glow. It’s a good driving coat in that it’s not warm enough to brave snow shoveling but it is enough to keep you comfortable while driving to/from your destination.

The v-neck design begs for a scarf and pairs well with velvet, cashmere, or wool. It’s a timeless piece, worthy of investment.

This emerald green overcoat is lovely. HOWEVER, be warned that there is (very strangely) a large, white Calivin Klein label prominently visible on the outer left sleeve. It can be seen in the photos online if you look closely.

The label is basically welded/stitched to the garmet and it is super difficult to remove without causing some damage to the fabric. Yes, I am a seamstress, yes I have a seam ripper/tool and it was nearly impossible to remove.

Be prepared to deal with this odd inconvenience.

I ordered the teal shade of this coat in a size 4. The coat is absolutely gorgeous. Especially the color. The lining will definitely make us a warm addition to a winter wardrobe. A few things I didn’t like about this coat: number one it has a double zipper which is kind of difficult to zip.

Second reason why this did not receive more stars is the coat fits a little strange. I am 5 foot 5 and 117 pounds. The smallest size they had in the regular length was a four. The shoulders and the arms fit OK, just a little loose … But the rest of the Coat was huge, with very little shape.

I almost look like a bell, lol. I used a gift card for the purchase so I will keep it, just have to deal with the fact that it’s not very flattering. Maybe a belt would help.

Even though on a hanger, coat was very wrinkled. Very heavy. Fabric stiff and can tell immediately it isn’t 100% wool. Actually only 60% wool, 35% polyester. The color camel is spot on. Nicely insulated, including sleeves.

With my arms down, sleeve length is perfect. However, if I raise my arms a few inches they are too short. Can’t raise my arms high or cross my arms. Ample room in chest (my breasts aren’t large) but no extra room in hips.

Number one reason I’m returning is the darn zipper. I spent 15 minutes trying to zip coat to no avail!! I normally wear a 3X petite. I ordered 20 petite. If I was going to reorder, I would order a 22 petite.

I wouldn’t order a non petite because coat would be too long. I need a dress coat. I’m going to order the wool blend that buttons versus zipper in a 22 petite.

I bought this coat with hesitation because in the ad it looked a bit frumpy. Boy was I wrong. This coat is elegant, mod, high quality, fits like a glove and slimming as can be. I’m tall 5’11 approximately 185 size 14 was perfect.

Enough for a light layer underneath and the sleeves were wonderfully long. The two way zipper is metal and worked perfectly and is the best feature. I traveled to New York in mid October where it was a bit chilly the coat was cozy and at times too warm! I felt like a million in the coat- slim, chic.

I will wear this coat for years to come.

I’m hoping to bring a little light to the conflicting discussions about the size and cut of this coat. First, I absolutely LOVE this coat. It feels like wearing a beautiful, smooth, soft, light weight wool that will be PERFECT for fall and spring.

And even Minnesota winters when darting in and out of places. On the cut, I can understand some of the less than favorable comments about the shape of this coat WHERE people may be having expectations of a fitted “ladies” coat.

But I don’t think this coat is intended to be that. Rather, it’s everything I’ve been looking for in that the style is that of a coat I’ve borrowed (stolen 🙂 from my dad and made my own. I believe it’s supposed to be boxy and very casual.

And because I imagine I’ve stolen it from my dad, it’s so comforting! Also, I can’t say enough about the quality! On sizing: given the range of reviews on this, I ordered in three sizes to try. I’m 5’9″ to 5’10″ish and while I’m 20-30lbs over my normal weight (thanks to covid and being new to mid-life weight gain) others still insist I’m slender.

I weigh 184 but I guess my frame does a good job of concealing that from others. Point is: I’m fairly slender through the arms even with a bit of weight gain there and other places. I used to be a general medium but now am generally more comfortable in a large.

I ordered sizes 8, 10, and 12. I can wear the 8 with a bulky sweater underneath, with the slightest bit of snug feeling when I reach my arms forward. Given that I want this coat to feel generous and oversized, I can also wear the 12 and feel perfect in it with those style wishes.

The sleeves on the 12 will be getting a one fold roll up, which I’ll love. The sleeves on the 8 are a “perfect” length on me (with a perfect break at the wrist). I thank Pendleton profusely (HALLELUJAH!) for the extra length in the sleeve — I’m usually passing coats up b/c sleeves are too short for me.

I needed a simple, black wool walking coat in my size of 16P, and this one absolutely fit the bill. The fabric has a nice “hand” and is obviously good quality. Finishing details also are well done and spell quality.

There is even a little hidden pocket in the left side of the lining–a nice touch. Minor quibbles but not deal breakers: It would have been better if the top of the coat could be buttoned for warmth.

The buttons/buttonholes on the pockets are an odd design choice–why should the side pockets need to button? They do lie flat unbuttoned. The brown plaid welting on the inside of the coat seems an odd color choice for a black garment, but is not visible when the coat is worn.

All in all, a useful, classic coat that is hard to find in petite sizes. Recommended.

I purchased the walker wool coat in black. I ordered the 4 petite and it fits perfect. I’m 5′ and 120 lbs. I have looked for a wool coat like this for a couple of years and finally the search has ended! The sleeves and the length of the coat are perfect.

The wool is soft and not bulky. If you’re on the fence about buying this coat. do it! I was complimented and asked where I bought it the first day I wore it.

This coat is a LONDON FOG! Top notch quality, great fit. You won’t find a better made and better looking coat. You will be so pleased you chose this coat! LONDON FOG!!! Their reputation is such that all you need to say is LONDON FOG! I bought 2 coats.

I got three. One in every color. They are beautiful well made coats. I weight 121 pounds. Bra size 34b. I purchased size small. They fit great with a size small sweater. I hope this information helps.

Love the style and mostly the color ! However the fit is a bit tight. I am a medium, ordered a large to be able to have room for a nice sweater and it turns out that the large fits just right without a sweater, thus need a xl to feel comfortable with a sweater.

If you plan to wear over plain clothes it is okay.

I am a small person, was worried the style of this coat would look voluminous on me, but wanted a light elegant wool jacket. I ordered a small. Overall in terms of look it was not voluminous, looked nice, the shoulder seams fell exactly right, not too big or narrow, but when I moved my arms the shoulders and across the back were too tight, and the sleeves which I think are intentionally cut short pulled up way too short.

So I’d say it runs small, but because of the style I’m not sure if I’ll try a medium. The lapels and front edge of coat are cut to hang down below the rest of the bottom of the coat, and only hang straight when coat is closed, which it usually isn’t because the style is without buttons.

So it just looked awkward. Sadly returned, because the material is wonderful, the coast is thin soft wool, the color (brown) beautiful. I’d try a bigger size, but still don’t like the shortness of the sleeves (never heard of bracelet length) which I think cut normally longer would make the whole coat look and feel more proportional.

I was surprised that the jacket and skirt that I purchased were so short, and could not be altered, to be let down in length, the way expensive Men’s suits can be tailored. My tailor was surprised that the construction limited tailoring, such as letting the sleeves of the blazer down, on an expensive piece.

The material was nice wool, lightweight enough for year-round use. The slacks, that I purchased to go with the suit were long enough since I could specify the inseam, but they are made for someone who is built like a man, with no hips, or thighs, so the slacks were too loose in the waist and too tight in the hips & thighs.

Everything had to be returned.

The cut of this blazer is perfection. It’s professional, yet a tiny bit edgy and modern, and can even be sexy if dressed up properly (think: bodysuit with patent leather leggings and this jacket thrown over) but the sleeves are so insufferably short, I can’t tell if it’s a major design flaw or purposeful.

I ended up keeping the blazer and just rolling the sleeves, but if you’re looking for a true long sleeve this is not for you. The sleeves on this run 4 inches above the wrist. I don’t understand it! Keeping it anyway because the fit is just divine.

I ordered this coat in the berry color. It’s very pretty but even more importantly, it’s extremely well made. The coat was wrapped in pretty paper and even the buttons were covered. It arrived a bit faster than I expected.

Only reason it doesn’t get five stars is because it was a little wrinkled. On a hanger now and I expect the wrinkles will come out on their own. I would recommend and encourage anyone to order it.

Jacket was supposed to be cotton and polyester. Label said wool. Wool fits differently than polyester which is why this jacket didn’t fit. Great jacket but wasn’t what I expected. I would love to reorder a size xlarge but this option isn’t available.

Beautiful Jacket- better than expected. This jacket arrived meticulously wrapped and secured in a zip plastic bag. Even the buttons were individually wrapped. I love everything about this coat. It did fit a little loosely, so I ordered one size smaller.

My jacket goes to my knee- which is longer than picture shows. I like longer jackets so that suits me well. Great quality- very happy with purchase!.

Just received this coat in camel. It is beautiful and is perfect sizing for a boyfriend style …a lil larger then the avg size, but the style is oversized to look like a menswear style. The reason I liked it N the 1st place.

It hangs longer on me as I’m shorter then the model…but still works. Material and quality is oar excellent. Another review said otherwise and way too big…I disagree. Ordered a size L and fits as expected.

Just a beautiful coat. It is double breasted which the pics don’t show, but makes it more of a menswear look.

Just received my coat! First, this coat is high quality and very well made and truly a warm wool coat. Based on some of the reviews, I ordered down a size, XS. I’m usually a Sm, athletic build but curves.

Second, this style is supposed to be oversized through the shoulders and throughout a little because its a men’s cut. I even tried on one of my sweatshirts with it and it looked great! Awesome coat!.

Nice light coat Great Light wool coat! I read some of the reviews were negative because there is no lining, but the coat is very stylish, well made and although not lined, still very soft! Love it! I live in SoCal so a nice sweater and this coat works for winter days out here.

Purchased the blk and gray. Hoping they restock the camel and winter white.

Beautifully designed: This is a lovely coat, comfortable, snug, and well made with a wonderful fit and flow. The coat is roomy enough to layer underneath without seeming bulky. I am giving it a four-star rating instead of five, because I think the sleeves are at least an inch too short–and I am only 5’1″ (155cm).

However, that being said, I will probably order another one–but ask for an additional inch or two in the sleeves. Good communication with the designer and normal overseas shipping with tracking information.

This is not the dress I ordered or got. Communication impossible. I ordered oversize autumn dress which was meant to be full-length with long sleeves. I did get correct dress, despite wrong invoice. When it came it was 3/4 length sleeve and mid-calf.

I am only 5’3″. It was nice fabric and well made but the model must have been about 4’6″ so it was rather disappointing. Strange smell washed out and I shall add deep border to sleeves and hem so I have kept it.

To be honest, I couldn’t face trying to communicate again.

I love, love, love the color blue of this coat. Its wool and oh so warm for Alaska. Very soft and I love the way it wraps around me. It’s perfect for dresses, church and formal occasions. As for size, I ordered the same size in two different coats, both made by Cole Hahn.

This one seems much bigger than the other in same size in another style. As for the model, on me, this coat is down to my calves and the sleeves extend almost the full length of my fingers. When I snap it closed, it is too big and the inside button comes undone immediately.

I prefer to wrap and tie with the belt; and the longer sleeves are not that big of a deal at this time.

My 81 year old mother needed a nice dress coat to wear to church and other occasions. When I saw the incredibly low price of this black wool blend coat, then showed her my own baby blue longer length coat, she whipped out her Capital One card! These coats are well made, the material is sumptuous, the fit is perfect, it slips on and off with ease, and the Zulily price is right.

Very flattering and well made fabric. I have a larger chest and like to have the option of wearing thick sweaters so I ordered my normal size, which was perfect but if you run smaller and don’t wear larger tops, it could be sized down.

I wear a 12 and could’ve fit fine in a 10. I bought the tan/camel color and it was just what I needed for a lighter color that doesn’t have yellow or orange undertones. It is a good mid length right above my knees (I’m 5’5″ for reference).

There are plenty of options to either use the snap, button, or just belt to close so I am not concerned with the button as some have mentioned.

I love all things Vince Camuto but man did I get a steal on this coat! It is VERY heavy and great quality! Classic style with modern features weaved in. There are two finishes on the outside of the coat which I didn’t see in the pics but absolutely love! The belt is made to loop through a buckle but is long enough to tie if you prefer that look (I do).

It is very warm. There is a single interior pocket in the left chest area. Zulily price makes it a steal!.

Olive drab/army green is my favorite color (but the navy version of this coat is gorgeous, too, and I love its red trim). This style coat in this color is absolutely gorgeous to me. I love that I can throw on different color scarves (navy, burgundy, mustard yellow, etc.

I ordered the coat in blue and love the cut, fit and how stylish it is. It is on the heavy side, but I have been warm in it. My only problem with it is that it picks up lint so easily on the navy blue, I literally have been de-linting the coat several times a day.

I have a lint brush right by the door and another one in the car. That’s my only issue, I still kept the blue but I can see I’m gonna get really tired of the lint factor. Only for that reason I wish I had got the gray instead.

I just bought the one in Petroleum from another vendor. I was so looking forward to this one, but upon receipt there are a few things I am not liking. The color is has a lot more brownish tint to it, I was hoping for a deep burgundy.

I also find it a bit lighter even though they both are made of the same materials with the same %. It’s so odd. The coat feels nice when you run your fingers through it, and it is soft. But because I don’t look good in its color, and don’t feel the joy wearing it, I had to return it.

I am awaiting for my refund patiently, it had been almost 2 weeks now. This part bums me, it’s lesson learned for i will think twice about buying it from this website again!.

Beautiful wool coat – looks just as pictured! My one qualm is that there is quite a bit of volume in the waist if you use the inside buttons. It may be good if you are layering as I haven’t tried that yet, but with a single shirt underneath it fits me perfectly in the shoulders yet swallows my waist.

I usually wear a size 6 and am hourglass shaped and ordered a 6. Otherwise it did feel true to size. Will definitely be keeping but may get the buttons tailored a bit.

And in green. Took a chance and fits perfect, size 8. I’m an 8 in tops mostly. Based on the ingredients, I purchased this nice knee length coat (I’m 5′). Curvy, 110 pds. I know I’ll get a couple of winters with it, not wearing everyday.

It’s thin and enough room for something layered under. A blank canvas to dress up. and down.

For my first ever Ted Baker purchase, I got this coat and its longer version Rose. This one in size 0/US 2 fit my 5’1 92 pounds perfectly with room for a medium thick sweater, while the Rose one has wider arm width and longer arm length, and a bit overwhelming on my figure.

I love the classic wrap style. It’s hard for me to find coats that fit me without any alteration. This one requires no alteration whatsoever. The arm length is perfect. The belt placement is on point.

The floral lining makes me want to grab it each time I head out for church. The camel color is actually more beige than the standard camel color. It’s still pretty and neutral that goes with most things.

I’m still on the fence about the quality of the wool. Since I got this on a good sale, I think the quality is appropriate to the sale price, but not at the retail price. Overall I’m very happy with this lovely cot.

This is a TED Baker coat, so you expect it to be top notch and it really is. The design is timeless, the lining is super soft and silky, it’s crying out it’s a TED Baker, it fits well, is soft enough on the outside as well and very classy.

I’m a brunet and I think the colour suits me. For me it’s the ideal length, I’m not a skinny girl and always felt that longer wrap up coats make me look very big but with this one I think I look very elegant.

I particularly like the magnetic close at the top that doesn’t allow a button to be exposed and when closed it’s very flattering around the neck. If I had to be very picky I’d say I’d like the sleeves to be a bit shorter but all in all a coat that’s gonna last you for years to come.

I didn’t pay the full price as it was on sale so double happy I can have a TED Baker coat in my wardrobe for much less. No regrets here!.

I bought the “camel” color and it’s not camel collar at all, not even close. So super bummed. It’s a pink taupe color. Very weird. Also, the fabric is not great. I gave 2 stars because I love the length, shape and that’s it’s lined.

But cashmere not very soft feeling. It doesn’t look expensive and it’s over priced. I already own a cashmere/wool coat that is extremely soft quality material. This one I purchased is not up to par. The photo color and description of color is misleading.

Absolutely love this coat. I had bid fir one in ebay from Next and lost out. So glad I did as this one is much better. It has such a luxurious feel and is very cosy. Some cheaper versions are very thin.

The coat is soft, very warm and luxurious looking. The fit is very big though so have returned so i can purchase a smaller size. It’s worth checking the retailer website too as this coat was in their sale so am re-purchasing from them as cheaper.

The material is very satisfying to touch. It’s so warm inside and makes you feel like you’re inside a big teddy bear hug. You can dress it up or dress it down, very versatile.

I am delighted with my purchase of the Boiled Wool Coat/Cardigan in Cypress. The light weight boiled wool feels luscious and keeps me toasty warm without bulk. The color is lovely, a unique neutral that wears with black, blue, brown and whites.

The high collar works with numerous necklines & keeps me warm when the wind blows. The 36 inch length covers tunics & sweater with ease. I can dress this piece up with a skirt, dress or slacks. It just as easily transitions to jeans and a tee for a pulled together look.

I wear this as part of my daily ensemble and as a grab & go outer layer for all but the coldest days here in TN. As with all EF I sized down. Size Small remains generous on my 5’9″, 36B, 165-ish frame.

The included pin is a sweet bonus I use frequently to hold scarves or simply to adorn the lapel. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase this again. I wish this color & fabric was offered in the EF long vest.

It’s a toss up which is my favorite purchase this year, this jacket or the EF long boiled wool vest in Butternut. Glad I grabbed them both when available.

I was looking for a jacket that I could dress up, but the patch pockets on this one limit its use to casual wear. The sizing is also off on this one. I usually wear an X-Small Regular in Eileen Fisher, which was not a flattering fit for me in this jacket.

I then tried the X-Small and Small in Petite – also not the best. Eileen Fisher needs to pay more attention to the details in her clothing. Her sizing used to be more reliable.

This is a versatile, flattering jacket. Exactly the right length to cover the back, functional pockets, and comfortable fabric. Would look nice with EF ponte pants and more casual like jeans. I’d get this in other colors if it were available.

I was between a PS and PM and ended up going with the PM as I like jackets to be slightly large for comfort. Love it.

Looked for a Camel coat that was not in a standard/expected style for a couple years but couldn’t find one. Until Maren. I took a chance because the color did not look camel on my browser. Since Marcella never misled me on size, material, texture, I clicked.

What came was a stylish CAMEL coat. I am very happy to have it. I drove more than walked in winter, so this coat is sufficient for me. As other had commented, it is versatile. You can get different looks from this coat.

Not that many winter coats allow us to do that.

Everything about this coat seems perfect except that it doesn’t accommodate people with shorter necks or shorter people in general (I am 5’3”). The service is wonderful, super fast delivery and a nice gift bag in the box.

The bottom can work for shorter people but not the neck. It literally comes up to half the head (tops of ears). And the entire beauty of this coat is in that neck style. I am still very happy with the company and will definitely shop here again, but unfortunately I have to return the coat.

I exchanged the XS for the S and glad I did. For a pear shape, the XS was tight around the bum and not exactly the most flattering. The small fit nicely (like the model) and had enough room for me to wear a thicker sweater underneath.

I would say this coat is more for crisp Fall evenings vs calling this a winter coat. The sleeves are long and will need shortened 2-3 cm, but I usually have to do this with all coats. For ref, I’m 5’5″/165cm, 127lbs, small bust, pear shaped.

Just received this today in the mail. First time ever purchasing a J. Crew coat, much less a longer length wool coat. I’ve been wanting to spruce up my cold weather wardrobe, and hadn’t really considered a coat being one of them (I still have a short length peacoat I’ve been wearing for 8 yrs).

I bought this coat to help fend off the cold, while whizzing through a golf cart to manage a large property. The quality and material is great and I ordered a size 4 in Petite. It hits right around my knee, and I tried it on with some thick (but not too chunky) sweaters.

It didn’t feel tight around my elbows or shoulders. I could button it up, if I suck it in ever so slightly but it’s rare for me to ever do a full button up anyway. Love how classic and sophisticated it looks.

I absolutely LOVE this coat! I love a bright/fun color (plum). It feels very well made and is very flattering on. I ordered two sizes up (larger chest), so that I could button it if needed and I’m glad I did, because it’s perfect.

I also didn’t want to be too restricted while driving, etc. and this allows to have full range arm movement without feeling too restricted. This also gives me room to have wear thicker sweaters underneath.

I bought this in the fuschia color and have gotten so many compliments. For the most part it fits true to size. I’m a little bottom heavy so I notice it pulls a little at the buttons when I button it the whole way.

My biggest complaint is that I’ve worn a handful of times and the fabric is already pilling and knobby. So disappointed to see that for the price of the coat. Glad I bought mine on sale, but if I paid full price I would be very upset.
