The device is not designed to be mounted on router tables. meaning it will be only used on multipliable action, the manufacturer declined to recommend any other third party router tables. The device provides the primary router’s functions which are ok related to its cost.

In general speaking, it might be ok for beginners and for basic woodwork shaping.

I bought this to mount in a router table I’m building. It’s very good (but heavy) for freehand work and was very useful cutting the router plate opening. However, as a table mounted router it has some issues.

The first issue was setting the plunge depth. After a bit the plunge depth lock would vibrate open. The lock adjustment lever is plastic and can’t properly secure the plunge lock. I removed the lever and just use pliers to adjust.

This works great for freehand use but it’s a pain to adjust in a table. So I bought a Dewalt to mount in the table and kept this for freehand.

Great router, but a lot more hoss than I expected. My only complaintss are (1) the accessories inside were loose and rattling around in the case; the base plate hole pattern does not fit any router table or accessories.

I like the ability to use 1/4 or 1/2 inch shanks by installing a reducing collet. Before you buy, better check whether your other stuff is compatible.

If you need bark off than you need these things. It came with a pritty good edge on it. Good enough to go as is but putting a little bit better one on it is better. I’ll give it 5 stars because the sale price and it takes to long to make one out of an lawnmower blade.

The angle of the handles I’ll probably make different to suit me. That’s something that’s going to be different feel for everyone. Depends on how you want to hold it and your position to your log. Over all I’ll say it good.

The picture does not reflect the actual size of the unit. The proportions of handle to blade length is actually much smaller than the picture shows. Also the blade has a slight curve not shown in the picture.

Blade works well and is reasonably sharp out of the box. This draw knife is best to remove bark from the edge of a slab, rather than from a complete log.

I bought this 5” draw knife to peel some larger branches a neighbor allowed me to collect after he had some large Douglas Fir Trees removed from his property. I will be using the rough hewn branch/logs to build an outdoor pergola/privacy screen for our fire pit area in the backyard.

I am very happy with how the logs are turning out, the color is beautiful and the tool is fairly easy to work with, though it is a very athletic activity. I only am able to peel a few a day ever other day or so (like an epic arm day at the gym!) but that is fine.

Highly recommend this tool, it is well built and easy to sharpen with a file as needed.

This does the job very well at a much lower price than most of the new drawknives our there. The blade is nice and thick. It had to be sharpened, but most do. Once sharpened, it did its job very well.

I bought this for my son who is showing an interest in “rustic” woodworking skills. He was debarking logs with his hatchet, and I figured this would be easier. So far it has worked fine for that and he finds it easy to use and faster than the old method.

Very disappointed in this product. Said it came with blade sharpened. When I tried to use it, it wouldn’t cut into the wood. Blade was rough and had a burr all along the bottom. Going to have take some time to with a whetstone to get where I can use it.

Other than that it seems to be very well built.

Great set. Every size most people will ever need. They sharpen easily and hold an edge much better than I expected. Delivery is brilliant and a bargain if you want next day delivery. You’ll probably want to flatten the backs when you get them to get the best out of them but it doesn’t take long on the stone provided.

Go easy on any subsequent sharpening because the stone is fairly aggressive so a minute or two will bring the edge back. Previously only had a set of three blue handled, marples chisels bought from a diy store ( which were considerably more expensive than this 10 piece set ) but the Vonhaus are MUCH better.

These are SO impressive ( and I’ve never done this before ) I stopped a fella in b and q, the other day, from putting a £45 (smaller) set of chisels in his trolley and suggested he buy these. Best tool bargain I’ve ever had.

This is a fantastic set of premium quality steel machined well. The only reason for the 4 stars is that the back is rough enough to need many hours of work to sand down and there is some sharpish corner that needed a file taken to them on the end of the chisel blade.

But for the money this is an amazing deal and I would HIGHLY recommend them. If you are willing to put a bit of effort to tidy them up before first use then you will have a set equivalent to chisels sold at 4-5 times the price.

I suspect this will be my go to workhorses from now on.

Received and reviewed the curved draw shave. Tried it on a cedar limb with great results. If you can find them, this Draw Shave is about a third of the price you would normally pay. Quality metal and workmanship.

Planning on using this in conjunction with a shaving horse. The first real project will be making bucket staves. It will taper the outside perfectly, and by turning around will remove the wood for the inside taper.

I bought this item as a Christmas gift for my 12 year old grandson. He loves using it to strip bark off limbs and such. He enjoys making bows and arrows as well as arrow heads and tools. He told me it worked great for what he needed.

The Chinese curved draw shave tool looks to be well-made, although I have not used it yet to shave down above-ground-level living tree roots. Its outdoor use will ultimately determine how well the gun-blued/painted carbon steel used in its manufacture stands up to rust and how well its sharpness last.

Worth the price, although I would have preferred an American-made product.

I bought this as my first lathe. I did an extensive amount of research before making an ultimate decision based on my budget. This was the best unit as far as size, money, reviews both here and WEN’s official site and my intended use.

I didn’t mind having to change the belt to change the speed, and honestly it takes no time to do. This machine is quiet. It’s high quality. It’s got room for expansion if needed. The motor does get hot pretty quick, but doesn’t affect it’s ability to perform as it should.

Just keep an eye on it, and keep it clean. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. If you’re just getting into woodturning, you won’t be disappointed with this unit.

Ive always been a fan of Wen products! When it came time to replace my beginner lathe, I knew what I was looking for and this lathe delivered! The clearances are much bigger and the motor holds up to some hard turning.

I did a lot of research on chisels before I decided to choose these. I really liked the value for money that you get with these, especially at Home Essentials Direct prices, but I kept getting put off by ‘experts’ that claimed they were no good.

A lot of people recommended Narex instead, but a lot of those same people complained that the QC done by Narex was inconsistent at best. It didn’t really look like you could pick a winner at this price range.

I decided to pull the trigger on a set despite the negative remarks from some of the experts, and overall I’m really happy that I did. I’ll preface this with the fact that I’m using these for fine joinery and that I have high expectations for end results.

Initial impressions: Out of the box these are good looking chisels. There are plenty of machine marks on the steel, but overall everything looks clean and flat. The cutting edges out of the box leave something to be desired.

Do not expect these to be honed when you get them. Don’t even expect them to make good cuts out of the box. They are mediocre at best, and about as sharp as I can get them with 220 grit sandpaper. Honing impressions: these were dead-flat out of the box, which is seriously impressive for the price.

Honing the back 3/4″ or so on each to flat and smooth took no longer than about 15 minutes total. Sharpening impressions: These sharpen well, far better than I expected given the overall bad reputation that these have in the online woodworking communities.

Using 400, 600, 1500, and finally 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper brings these up to ‘pretty sharp’. I can pare end grain cleanly with them at this point. Adding 2 final polishing stages with green then red polishing compound impregnated on a piece of balsa gets them to ‘absurdly sharp’ to the point that I’m afraid of leaving them out on the benchtop.

A mirror polish finish is definitely possible with these and a bit of effort. Edge retention: These chisels do their job really well through each project for me. I usually sharpen everything up at the end of a project so that they’re ready for the next use.

I haven’t found a need to sharpen these mid-project just yet. Maybe a quick run on some polishing compound here and there for touch-up, but definitely no need to go back to the beginning. Handles: This is my biggest con for these chisels.

The handles are fairly small in diameter and not very long. What this means is that my large hands have a hard time holding these for paring or body-weight chopping for an extended period. They’re not socket chisels, so you’re stuck with what they come with.

The material of the handles is a durable plastic. I have no doubt they’ll hold up to being driven by a wooden joiners mallet or a rubber hammer. Using these with a steel hammer is asking too much in my opinion, and you really shouldn’t be doing that to your chisels anyways.

Overall: I’m happy with them for a good set to get started in hand-cut joinery. For the price I don’t think that you could find much better. My intention is now to slowly upgrade the most-used chisels from this set to some socket chisels, but those are running around $30/each.

I don’t imagine that I’ll need to upgrade inside a year. I would suggest these for anyone interested in fine woodworking, but are working on a budget. I wouldn’t suggest them for carpentry though, I’ve seen what those guys do to tools, they should stick to the through-tang Stanely’s.

The one key note that I would take impress is that no matter the brand you will need to hone and sharpen your chisels out of the box, these are no exception, but if you’re willing to spend a bit of time and effort on them these can be fantastic chisels.

I have more much expensive wood chisels made in Switzerland that do a great job – but I use these chisels a whole lot more often. They hold an edge well and do not have to be treated as delicate precision objects.

Rather than patting the end of the handle with your hand you can hit these with a hammer and they will come back for more. I am a professional woodworker. My son recently decided to become a woodworker, as well! In setting up his shop one of the first tool sets I recommended to him was this one.

I wanted a chisel set with a box. at least 6 sizes up to 1 inch, from a brand I recognize, but nothing crazy expensive. Well. I got all that BUT. The edges were quite literally no better than butter knives.

I spent 2 hours grinding, honing and polishing by hand. Durability is an unknown as these are definitely not full tang, and using a magnet they appear to have tangs about 1/3 the length of the handles.

Oh well. so many options, so few in brick n mortar shops, you take risks.

Pro’s: The painted finish is hard and durable and the exposed steal has an iodized black coating which seems to withstand wear well. It is mounted with a series of 4 to 6 screws through pre-drilled holes depending on the configuration.

It measures 5 7/8 opening at the jaws with 1/2 wood lining both sides of the metal jaws. You could also glue thick rubber on the inside jaws if a full 6. 5″ is needed. This was a great deal for the price I paid.

Others vices were twice the price so I got two of them. Con’s: The only reoccurring issue I have experienced is the bolt/wingnut that tightens the slide up tab in the outer jaw seems to be a bit long.

It sometimes hits on the handle as I tighten the vice, it could be easily fixed if it becomes more of an issue. One manufacture error I noticed was the holes that were pre-drilled in the face of the vice for the installation of wood were tapered for wood screws on the inside(where the wood goes) instead of the outside where the screws goes.

Again, this is a minor issue, I used machine screws that were flat rather than wood screws that were tapered, easy fix, very minor issue.

Tiny little vise, 6 inches not 6 1/2 with no pop up dog as advertised and is much smaller, not 7.5lb as in description. Max refunded my money after seeing pictures of the vise and box.

I was disappointed when this vice arrived as it did not have a flip up stop for engaging wide pieces on the work bench like is shown in the photo of the vice above. Otherwise I believe the vise will handle wood work.

It was purchased as a gift so I have not used it.

This is my go to parting tool. It is thinner than a regular parting tool so less wood is removed which is important when you are making lidded boxes.

I bought this for a special application and it worked. I have the Sorby tool for everyday use. This tool has a shorter handle and a shorter overall length and is not as well made as the Sorby. The handle slabs did not fit well and I had to grind them down to the tool tang.

The steel seems to be OK and it did hold an edge well.

I love this tool. I work with kiln dried black walnut and make very small goblets. This tool comes in handy with the decrations on the goblet and with cutting it off. I use this for a cut off tool and a tool to mark depth and to make tenons.

I highly recomend this tool. stays sharp for long periods of time and when it needs to be sharpened it is fast to sharpen. One of the nicest things is when cutting bigger things off the lathe is this tool does not get as hot as regular cut-off tools.

Because it is thin it also cools fast. I have used it on bowls to cut off the lathe and it is very fast, clean, and easy.

I bought mine about 18 months ago. Suddenly the blades started breaking at the last hole in the blade. Thought it was a bad blade so I bought more blades. Still keeps breaking at the last hole where it connects to the tool.

Anyone else have this problem? I’ve gone thru 5 blades so I stopped using it. I don’t want to buy a different tool until I find out if it can be fixed.

Love the tool – but questioning quality for heavy use. Under home reno circumstances, its fine, – we used this thing heavy for a big renovation (cause its an awesome concept), but the thing sparked and died.

Wiggle the cord and sparking and not functional. Don’t have time for warranty so I will be looking at a Dewalt or Milwaukee.

Bought this to cut plexi glass. Had to buy 1/2 moon blades for it, but it worked like a charm. Cut part way through one side and flipped over and cut through the rest on the other side. Nice to have variable speed options.

Easy to control and stay in line. Gave the edges a quick sanding to smooth. Perfect job.

This has been perfect for learning to turn, zero complaints. I’ve put about 50 hours on it at this point ad everything still works as it should; motor and variable control still like new, bearings in the stocks are still smooth.

I guess the tail stock wheel is a little finnicky, but that’s most likely user error. If you’re looking to start up as a hobby, this is all you need. for a fraction of the price of a Jet or Nova.

This is a good small lathe with all the things that a hobby woodworker would want. This does not replace a professional lathe, but for turning small objects (pens, ornaments, etc. ) this is a great lathe.

This is my first lathe and I love it. Have been playing mostly with maple and this lathe works like a charm. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a small table top lathe. Powers through maple with no problems.

I have many turning chisels. 3 lathes. I turn everything from bowls and vases to pens and small ornaments. For a standard mini tool. They hold the cutting edge. Good steel. I like this small set. Does not break the bank account.

I got more from this small set than I expected.

The woodturning tools are excellent quality and well worth the price. They’re high speed steel and hold their edge better than carbon steel. Because their small (approximately 1/4″), they are a little harder to sharpen.

Even high speed steel needs to be sharpened once in a while. They come in an quality hinged wooden storage case to protect them when not being used. They come highly recommended.

This set of lathe tools is something everyone who has a small lathe could use. The set is durable and easy to sharpen. The cost makes it very affordable and attractive for those at home workshops.

I have had my on this elegant little tool for some time. I bought the 1mm scoop first but coveted the v gouge, so finally bit the bullet and bought it. It is perfection! The shape and size of the handle fits hy palm perfectly and the blade carves out the tiniest sliver of linoleum with ease.

Far inferior to other brands, the v tool didn’t come sharp, stropped it and still doesn’t cut well.

I’ve owned the PC 557 biscuit joiner for 20+ years. I’ve used it many times of the years with excellent results. When setup correctly the wood joined by the biscuit joiner will require minimum sanding if any (if starting off with smooth wood).

The key will be to have the joiner adjusted correctly for the thickness of wood being joined. Also the joiner is well made (at least mine from years ago) and feels solid in your hands. I expect the joiner will outlive me.

After Stanley Tools bought Porter Cable, they seemed to have killed off alot of the PC products. As a testimony to the Porter Cable 557 biscuit joiner Stanley has not kill off the product or sell it under the dewalt name.

The PC joiner is a little more costly than others you might find, but in this case i would say its worth the few extra dollars to have a tool that will serve you well.

Easy to use. Porter Cable has made very good tools for decades. I have their planer, router, belt sander and palm sander which are all excellent. The features on the PC 557 Biscuit joiner exceed most others.

Woodcraft has a video comparing several models. I recommend watching and reading reviews before making a choice. Many folks complain that the dust collection system, (clip-on bag), size of the dust port are inadequate.

I agree, this is a common issue with many but not all Biscuit Joiners. It’s a great tool for the money and if you think you’ll be using it for years you can’t go wrong.

I work in a cabinet shop. Out of the 8 of us on the shop floor, 7 of us use PC 557 on a daily basis. It’s one of the tools you almost never hear a complaint about. My previous one lasted about 12 years before the arbor shaft bearing wore enough that the gears jammed.

12 years for $180 is about 6 cents a day. Quite a bargain. My only complaint is that the 2″ blade no longer comes standard. AND the 4″ blade that is sold by PC that I bought on Amazon says Made in America on the package and made in china on the blade itself.

BTW, the dust bag clips to the chip deflector. if it’s a tad loose, squeeze the spring clip together to tighten it up.

Very useful for cutting detail and clean edges on linocuts. Easy to hold comfortably due to handle shape. Haven’t tried it on wood yet. (hence only 4 stars) The blade is sharp straight out of the box.

Yet to see how long it retains its’ edge but looks like it should be ok as long as I remember to hone it briefly before use every now and again, (as I should do with all my cutters).

First class tools that work well for small details on your carvings. Sharp and ready to go. Seem to hold their edge so far, but time will tell as I have only had them for a short while. Easy to sharpen on a strop, I would think.

Flexcut micro tools fill many gaps in the traditional carving tool, tool kit. Where small precision cuts are required they are the best choice

The Dremel 3000 is an excellent Rotary Tool. This does the detail jobs that other machines can’t get to. There is many cool parts to purchase to make a good collection for your small jobs around the home.

My father introduced the Dremel to me at one time. So, I always wanted one as a kit. Very glad that I got this. , Now I find more jobs than before around the house than before. The manuals are very easy to read and comprehend the instructions.

It’s lightweight and perfect for spoon making. It Doesn’t tire your hand. I bought a sanding accessory kit as well to reduce the amount of hand work needed to shape the spoons. I had assorted ball heads from my old dremel to shape the bowl of the spoon.

It could use a longer cord but not a retractable cord which would add too much weight to this light weight tool.

Dremel describes the 3000 model as an ‘upgrade of our most popular rotary tool’. I assume they are referring to the Dremel 4000, which we reviewed a couple of years ago. In appearance, the Dremel 3000 still looks very similar to the Dremel 4000.

Both feature the torpedo-style design with a trumpet-shaped nose that provides easy one-handed gripping. One of the nice features of the Dremel rotary tools is how easy they are to handle. The pencil grip is best when you need precise control for drilling, sanding, grinding or cutting tasks, while the golf grip is more suited for less precise, general purpose work.

The Dremel 3000, at 7″ long, is just a bit shorter than the Dremel 4000, yet it weights about 2 ounces more. As well, it comes with a 1. 2 Amp motor rather than the heftier 1. 6 Amp motor on the 4000 – a fairly large decrease of 25% in motor current.

This new motor also delivers slightly less speed – 5,000 to 32,000 RPM versus 5,000 – 35,000 RPM. As with the 4000 model, the motor is equipped with electronic feedback, which provides more consistent power under load.

In use I didn’t notice any appreciable difference in power – the Dremel 3000 made just as quick work cutting, drilling and sanding as the 4000 model. On the Dremel 3000 the power switch has been integrated into the speed switch, with the lever moved to the tail end of the tool.

While the 4000 model had twenty settings on the speed dial, the Dremel 3000 has only ten settings. Each setting increases the speed by roughly 3,000 RPMs. DIYers will probably find it more convenient to have fewer settings to select from.

Also on the tail end you’ll find the hanging hook, which is convenient for suspending the tool if you use the optional flex shaft attachment. (I haven’t seen it for sale at my Canadian Tire. ) The best enhancement to the Dremel 3000 is the EZ Twist nose cap.

With the Dremel 4000 a wrench is used to unlock the collet. The problem has long been that you can’t store the wrench on the tool. It’s somewhat a waste of time to track down the wrench every time you need to change accessories.

And because the wrench is quite small, it’s easy to misplace or loose. The EZ Twist nose cap has the wrench integrated into the cap. You simply unscrew the cap, and then use it to tighten the collet nut.

This is a great feature that all users will surely appreciate. The 3000 ships with a 1/8″ collet, though you can purchase three other collet sizes (1/32″, 1/16″ and 3/32″. ) Maintenance is fairly minimal – approximately every 50 hours of use check the brushes, and replace them when they begin to wear down, or as soon as the tool fails to start, runs intermittently or slower than usual, or if you see more sparking than iusual.

Sold as a pair, brushes cost about $5. Even though the Dremel 3000 has a lower amp rating, is slightly heavier, and has a 4-year rather than a 5-year warranty, I like it more than the 4000 model – primarily because of the EZ Twist cap, which makes accessory changes a snap.

Bought this as my first set of chisels knowing that i’d need to spend some time sharpening them. What i wasn’t expecting was it was going to take 8hrs+. On one chisel i just couldn’t, and still haven’t, get rid of all of the striation marks near the tip.

Out of the box they were unusable and couldn’t even cut paper. The stone seemed to wear quite easily and is only really useful for the first honing passes to make backs flat, flatten the bevel and add the microbevel.

you then need finer grits to get them sharp and polish them. Now the good points: i’ve not had the problems others have with the chisels falling out of the box, not often enough to worry about anyway, and the honing guide seems okay, if a little fiddly to make sure the blade is flat.

They’ve sharpened up to a decent but not great edge (finishing off with 1200grit wet and dry) which is enough for the limited use I’ll give them. Would i buy them again?? For a newbie woodworker they are good value for a set of this size and the box is a nice touch.

but you do have to spend quite a bit of time on them before first use.

Great set of chisels considering the price, fast tracked delivery, arrived early which is always good. Build quality they look good thay feel lovely in hand. Only thing I would say is they could do with a further honing to get them super sharp but this could be just my preference.

Presented well in the case would I recommend then to my friends and family? YES!!!.

I love this machine. The temp control is such a great thing to have. I bought this and another wood burner tool (didn’t have temp control) at the same time and I use this one the most. I only use the other one if I need a fine pointed tip.

That’s the only issue that I have with it which is they don’t have a big variety of tips for this machine. But if you want a try at a almost professional wood burner than I’d definitely suggest giving this a try before you spend the money on a real high dollar machine.

I guess I should say I haven’t had it for very long maybe a month so far so good and I use it every few days.

Compact, easy to use, good quality tips, heats up quickly. Great for burning on cork trivets. Can’t comment on burning on wood, but preliminary brief trial indicates possible issue with heat retention.

OK for beginners, but seems overpriced. Not for novices or professionals.

This wood burner works great. easy to control with hands and handles very difficult intricated drawings with ease. One of the greatest features is you can control the heating to your likes and types of wood.

The only draw back is it only come with four elements to use, but I still recommended I’m a newbie and on my first tried I have done well on a practice run with a difficult graphic to see if I was able to do it with the walnut hollow burner and it performed awesome.

I want to love this thing, but I hate mine. I have many Kreg products in my toolbox but it’s the biggest piece of junk in my toolbox – I must have got a defective one. This thing hardly ever works right.

It would be the one of the best tools I have if it did. One second it works perfect, the next it has no clamp pressure, the next it would take a strong man to close it. Figures it’s be the first one I buy; it’s also the last.

The screw that controls the pressure on the clamp amazingly just popped out along with the spring. It’s impossible to get back in. I have used this less than 5 times and purchased 6 months ago. I have no receipt to return it so I’m just out.

How does it fall out in the first place. Highly disappointing. This will be the last Krefeld product for me.

I bought the 6” wood clamp about 3 months ago to build some wood counter tops and shelves. I go to use it the next time and the adjustable hinge is broken. It won’t engage. It’s frustrating when you spend the extra money to supposedly buy a well made product and when you go to use it a second time it’s already broken.

I’m such a frustrated customer.
