A wood sealer is a coating that is applied to outdoor wood surfaces in order to protect them from the elements. Sealers provide a barrier against moisture, UV rays, and other environmental factors that can cause wood to degrade over time.
They also enhance the wood’s natural beauty by bringing out its grain and color.

Incredibly knowledgeable employees who are willing to spend the timefully understanding the customers concerns and goals and even though I had some self-inflicted issues, they continued to support and coach me through the process with their product.

Good price but you need to pack things properly. Throwing 6 cans in a cardboard box suitable for 15 or more with absolutely no internal packing is a really bad idea. They all arrived intact but very beat up and dented.
A few more tosses and something would of sprung a leak. This is a recipe for disaster!.
Anchorseal has been the sealer of choice for protection against end grain checking. Lumbermen, turners and furniture builders alike have used Anchorseal for years to protect their wood investment. Now, new and improved Anchorseal 2 is the choice for prevention of end grain checking. – New and improved – The sealer of choice – Protects against end grain checking – Protect your wood investment – Nearly 30 years of experience in making this product.
This is great product. Don’t seal logs a long time before you cut them because it will also hold water in, which will make a log like maple spalt. I seal the ends right before sawing that way it also waxes the cutting blade as you cut.
Like their advertising says, Anchor seal reduces end checks in wood when it dries by about 80%. You’ll still lose a few boards, and some still check, but it is much, much less. I use this to coat bowl blanks for lathes and it does a great job of stabilizing the blanks even though a bowl blank is mostly end grain.
Anchorseal 2 is water clean up and goes on like white latex paint, but then dries nearly clear, though a little bit milky still. When I’m coating highly figured wood like burls and crotchwood, I’ll often use polyurethane instead so I can better see the grain.
Most of the time however, I use Anchorseal 2. This is a great product.
It does work to seal the ends of logs to help prevent cracks. I have had some cracks but I think that’s mostly because my wood dried out in the heat under a hot carport with no water to keep the logs moist, but I have had very little cracking.

I used this product with a medium bristle trim brush to even out the bare wood spruce ribs on a wooden boat I am building. it’s viscosity (flow) is like a thin paint. It went on well and looks fine. Unfortunately, I think I am going to have to sand to get an even surface before painting.
I probably should have wiped off the excess before allowing it to dry.
I had to listen to my husband, who is a professional painter and wood finisher, complain for hours about how hard this material was to deal with. Extremely sticky, tacky, like molasses. Since I’ve never used it before, I don’t know if this is normal (we used it within prescribed conditions) but despite the nice finish, I won’t be buying it again.

WaterGuard for Wood Waterproofing Clear Sealant offers convenience and value. A penetrating clear sealer that protects the wood while allowing the wood grain to show. Perfect for multiple wood surfaces.
My Husband pressure washed our wood deck stripping off all the old and peeling sealant that stopped protecting way to long ago. We applied the Olympic WaterGuard Multi-Surface Waterproofing Sealant Clear in color a few days later using a paint roller designed for stains attached to a extension pole to do the floor surface and a brush for the rails.
I was expecting that a second application would be needed so I was really surprised that after it had thoroughly dried about 24 hours later that was not the case. This sealant has a nice consistency making it easy to apply coverage evenly.
Both the roller and brush cleaned up nicely simply using soap and water. No rain was in the forecast after it was thoroughly dried and since I was so curious to see how well it would repel water I sprayed it quite heavily using the garden hose and sure enough it beaded up and did not penetrate into the wood.
The real plus about this sealant is it can be applied to different types of surfaces not just wood.
I recently updated my basement in hopes of keeping the water out. We have had previous issues with leaks coming from the brick foundation. My home was built in 1900, so the room where the previous coal furnace was located had the most issues with leaks.
I applied the waterproof sealant over the walls with a roller, and used a paint brush to apply to the small areas that couldn’t be reached with the roller. The process was so easy, and the sealant didn’t run.
It applies clear, so you can’t even tell that this product was applied. It was very easy to apply, and scent of the sealant was tolerable. I allowed it to dry for 24 hours. I haven’t had a single leak in my basement since.

Compare to Pettit EZ WoodSealer and Interlux Interprime clear wood sealer.
I just tried this out on a canoe paddle project. It was the first time I have used this wood sealer. Many wood sealers state that they are for indoor use. Obviously, needed one designed for both. I got excellent results with polyurethane finish coat.
Used this on some marine plywood, after staining, and before varnish. Two coats on the surface, three on the plywood edges. Solid wood trim pieces got two coats. You don’t have to sand between coats, and it dries within a couple hours (unless the temps are below 60 degrees, then it took longer).
After the last coat of sealer, you wait 24 hrs, give the parts a light sanding, and then you’re ready for varnish. First coat of varnish looks like the 4th or 5th. So, generally liked the stuff, except for the smell.
This is one smelly product! I use an organic vapor mask, and after a few days of working, the smell permeated through the mask. Had to get more filters! I’d give the product 5 stars if it didn’t smell so bad! But, overall it saved time (less coats of varnish), and money (cheaper than varnish).
My post from sailboat owners. com forum: I recently used Total Boat Wood Sealer Varnish Primer on solid teak that had been sanded down to bare wood. Applied 3 coats using an HVLP gun with 1. 4 tip, un-thinned.
Laid down beautifully with no sanding, less than an hour between coats. Dried with a really hard finish.

Olympic WaterGuard Transparent Wood Stain with Sealer offers convenience and value. A durable acrylic oil stain that provides protection and a slight hint of color that highlights the wood grain. Perfect for multiple wood surfaces including decks, fences and wood siding.
I have LOVED using this product! I do a lot of wood projects and it has come in handy for them! I love the fact that it goes on so easily. It does take a bit of time to dry completely, so if you are wanting to do a project, make sure you give yourself time to let it dry.
I also love that you get up to 350 square feet per gallon to use! This is awesome because big projects take up a lot of this. Another thing I love is that it can protect a deck for up to 4 years or a fence for up to 6 years! It also covers up old stain too when you apply it, which is nice.
But you should make sure to prepare the area you are wanting to stain, so that it is a smooth process. It can look a little off if you don’t. So make sure the surface is clean and dry. Then you just add the stain and let it dry! It is amazing what a world of difference this product makes to a project.
It makes it look so much nicer, and keeps it protected! I honestly love this product. I talk highly about it. I think everyone should give this a shot, especially if you have a nice deck or fence you want to keep protected for a long time! You will not regret it.
Pros: Quality, Durability, Ease of Use Cons: Haven’t found any yet.
