20 Best Wood Router For Beginners (2023 Updated)

I needed this tool to make 16 cuts for a Christmas Present I’m building. After 3 of these cuts, it no longer turns on.

I will preface this by saying I’m a novice woodworker, and this is the only router I’ve ever used. But I love it! It’s powerful, and has no trouble getting through tough hardwood and knots. The bits are relatively simple to change, and I love both the fixed and plunge bases my set came with for cutting rabbets, dados, tongue and groove joinery, and of course roundovers and chamfered edges.

The customer service was excellent when I was missing a part and they shipped it to me for free in a week or so. I love that it takes both 1/4” and 1/2” shank bits, so it’s very versatile. Paired with a straight edge, I was even able to square up some pallet wood for repurposing.

This is definitely one of the most used tools in my (modest) shop. Highly recommend.

I purchased a Dewalt DW618PKB router from Lowes on July 11th. After unpacking it, I discovered that the 1/2″ collet was missing. I immediately contacted Dewalt support and they said a collet would be sent to me within 2 weeks.

When 2 weeks passed and I hadn’t heard anything, I contacted Dewalt support again but got no response. 2 days later, I contacted them again and was told the collet was backordered and they had no idea when/if it would be shipped.

So I returned the original router to Lowe’s and purchased another DW618 they had in stock. But this one was also missing the 1/2″ collet. So I returned that router and went to Home Depot to buy the DW618 router there.

And for the 3rd time, the 1/2″ collet was missing from the box. The information printed on the box as well as in their online advertising clearly states that 1/4″ and 1/2″ collets are included with the DW618 router.

But that is obviously not the case after purchasing 3 of them in 2 weeks and none of them had the 1/2″ collet. That is very misleading and false advertising. I contacted Dewalt support 3 more times expressing my frustration trying to find a router with a 1/2″ collet and asking them to escalate my issue.

The end result was they closed my open ticket and marked it complete. So over 3 weeks have gone by and I’m still without a router with a 1/2″ collet. This is unacceptable for a company like Dewalt. I have purchased numerous Dewalt tools in the past but it will be hard to ever purchase another one after this incident and how they have handled it.

I’ve mounted this router in my Bosch table, and it was challenging because it has four short screws attaching the sub-base, but only 3 screws (and they are longer 1/2″ ones) are needed to mount it to the table.

Drove me nuts until I found a mounting diagram in the Bosch manual. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one confused about the 1/2″ collet. I thought mine was missing until I read the manual carefully and learned the 1/4″ collet was inside the 1/2″ collet! So far I’ve just used a roundover bit and it seems to work fine.

While I am able to adjust depth of cut by unlatching the latch and pushing up or letting it down, I CANNOT get the height adjustment RING to budge at all. I may be doing something wrong, but the manual sheds no light on the process.

I may call customer service if I don’t figure it out. I’d also like to know how to keep wood chips out of the motor in the upside-down position.

I chose this router package because of the modular design and available accessories. I needed to use a 1/2″ variable speed router and have more power than what I had been using. If you have only one purpose, you can get the best router for what you need.

Likewise, if you only have a couple of specific needs you can get two dedicated routers, each for the dedicated need. Other than that, you will find that this setup offers a lot of options for what you need, and what you may need in the future.

I needed it to work with a Porter-Cable dovetail jig (using the Bosch ra1129 adapter), then switch over to do under table work using 1/2″ shank joinery bits. It fits under both my Craftsman table (without the adjustment key hole) and a table that I have with the Bosh table adapter plate.

The beauty here is that this package scales up well, inside and outside the Bosch product line. I am not happy with the fact that the centering pin is not part of the router or this router package. It is a somewhat necessary overpriced addition otherwise.

Remember this package was made for swapping the router in and out of bases, not necessarily bases in and out of tables. You may dedicate an optional Bosch ra1065 under table mount to an existing router table to avoid frequent base to table setups.

You might wonder if this is overkill to a modular system that you paid for two bases already to resolve the problems, when in fact you needed three separate bases to get what you want. Evaluate the cost that the 1617evs brushes here are to be examined every two to six months, and the bearings are to be professionally replaced every 300-400 hour of operation.

Getting two dedicated, and possibly different types of routers is a tradeoff to this package. You may find that it is a bit heavy to do lighter profiling work, and a little light to do heavy single pass cuts.

But there are a vast range of use cases that it excels at between these two extremes. What you may find out is that you’ll like it so much that you’ll take on new projects that you wouldn’t have taken on without it.

I really wanted to like this router. Had everything I was looking for, power, variable speed, plunge & fixed bases, I even liked the colors. However, I found out after researching routers on Amazon that this is just a Mastercraft re-brand, which is likely a rebadge of some cheap chinese design.

Out of the box, I immediately noticed my sub base plate screws on BOTH bases had been ver-torqued and the sub bases were cracked all over. More frustratingly, the sub-base openings ARE NOT 1 1/4″ because my 1 1/4″ bit would not come close to fitting.

According to the Mastercraft product page specs they are actually 1 3/16″. So they didn’t even both to port the correct specs over for the re-brand. Then came the fun, plugging it in and trying it out.

Powered it up, and pressed the SET button to cycle through the settings, and before I knew it I had experienced the same problem many other reviews have, and it had locked itself to 10,000 RPM and refused to change to anything else.

They also don’t sell sub base plates with larger holes, so if you have larger bits than 1″ you’ll need to just go without or make one or something. Its a shame because all the reputable brand routers seem to have something about them I don’t like (no spindle lock-Bosch, no LED lights-Dewalt, no plunge base-Ridgid, etc).

So super-sketchy electronics with zero quality control and short warranty made this a return and keep looking purchase.

This router combines power and precision in one very versatile package. The 1/2” collet makes for easier and more stable routs, the plunge depth stops and micro adjustment makes setting depth predictable and easy, and the on handle trigger and work light are just nice features.

I use it both as a plunge router and attached to a router table. I have ended up using it much more than I expect d to given its ease and versatility.

I work for a large Park District in the twin cities and good tools are very important! this unit worked so well I went back and bought two more! We owned one and I purchased a P/C Brand l put it on the shelf! No comparison Like I said we purchased 2 more Bosch routers! We machine a lot of recycled plastic material for benches.

Taking the Makita out of the box, you can tell immediately, by the heft, fit and finish, it’s a serious piece of equipment. Pros: – Two collet sizes. I have a mixture of 1/2″ and 1/4″ shank bits. The Makita comes with both size collets.

– D handle. Makes control *very* easy, especially for those moments when you need to one hand the router. Keeps it under control, and comfortable. – QUIET!!! I’ve never had a router this quiet. I literally had to check to make sure it was doing what it was supposed to, the first time I turned it on.

– Powerful. 2-1/4 HP. Smoothly chews through anything (with a good bit). – Adjustable speed. Allows max speed changes based on what your routing. Cons: – The plastic chip deflector is an option. This is ridiculous.

It’s a cheap piece of plastic that should be INCLUDED with the router. – No case or bag included. All my power tools are cased and protected. This means I need to run out and buy a case for protection, transporting, etc.

All in all, the best router I’ve owned. Would definitely buy again, and would definitely recommend.

I have a number of routers – Makita, Bosch, and Triton. I love the smoothness of the Makita and the D-Handle gives great control when edge-routing or doing dadoes. Motor spins up softly with no kick and purrs like a kitten even through thick hardwoods.

I mainly use this with a pattern-cutting bit and it gives me tremendous control. Negatives are a complete lack of any dust collection options (unless eating router shavings counts as dust collection) and poor visualization of the actual cut.

Otherwise, its a great tool.

I have several routers, 15-18 and different brands and this is my go to router. Im a big guy with xlarge hands and it fits them perfect. Plenty of power, well made, smooth, quiet as a router can be, and my pick over PC and DeWalt.

Will buy again without hesitation!.

So far, so FANTASTIC! Plenty of power, smooth action on plunge base (the reasons I bought this Makita set). I’ve always admired Makita products, both corded and cordless. This router set is NO EXCEPTION ! If you need a great router combo at a great price, GET THIS SET !.

I’ve had this router kit now for about 8 years and it still works great. Powerful, variable speed, comes with a great fixed and plunge base and the necessary tools to make adjustments, all in an organized case.

Very well-made router love the compact size and power do wish the plunge mechanism was a little more smooth though

I bought one of these last fall to trim some laminate but just finally had a chance to try it out last weekend. I love this little router. I have a router table with a larger router but wanted something smaller for freehand/template work.

So far I’ve used it to create some 1/2″ dados, 3/4″ rabbits and to do some flush trimming (laminate and plywood). More than enough power for those tasks. The Good: – Bit change is quick and easy with the included wrench – Fine adjustment works well – Variable speed is very useful – Small form factor makes it easy to handle (I’ve always been nervous using my large router outside a table) The ‘Not as Good’: – Motor did get a little hot while cutting 30 dados but not so hot that it was uncomfortable to hold I didn’t try the edge guide as I tend to use a clamped straight edge.

Ordered this to supplement my full size router that I (a) didn’t want to pull out or (b) wouldn’t fit for trim work. More than enough power for small jobs. Depth adjustment measurement is engraved in the router body and could extend a little further up the body so not to get lost behind the collar with short bits.

Not sure about the the spindle lock. It is a spring loaded button that pushes a shaft into a hole drilled in the spindle. On mine the shaft doesn’t seem to completely seat in the spindle hole. I’ve just gone ahead and used the two wrenches supplied to avoid the issue.

Reconditioned price could not be beat by any recognized name manufacturer. OEM edge guide is basic but functional.

Truly unbelievable, no words. My molding planes are completely obsolete now! I already let my 8 apprentices go, we made a whole room worth of molding and woodwork in 15 minutes and went home for the rest of the day, no need for help anymore! The thing came with a rubbery wire with a strangely shaped metal end that happened to fit perfectly into a matching shape in the wall.

The instructions said it was necessary for some reason, maybe to tether it and keep it from getting lost. It makes a loud noise and I could see sparks inside a vent in the top. Probably elves.

I bought a cheap trim router after the baring failed within 30 days, maybe an hour of use. This router is veritable speed, well balanced, fits and stays cool in your hand. The motor has an attach ring for fine adjusting that works flawlessly.

The plunge base is an awesome accessory that makes it function like my full size router without the weight or size I highly recommend this router and would buy it again.

I needed another router specifically to mount in a table and this one really fits the bill for that purpose especially mounted in the Kreg lift. I have one other Makita, a 3612 BR that I bought in 1986 that I still consider my work horse, and two Porter Cable 690’s that I use for cutting dovetails that were purchased around the same time period.

It just so happens that right at the time that the new router arrived, the PC I was in the process of using to cut dovetails was not holding the depth of cut; years of ware I guess, so I switched over to the new Makita.

I really like the soft start on this machine, and it has plenty of power. I was surprised by how similar the RF-1101 and the PC 690 routers are: similar weight and size, same two-nut system holding the cutter, uses the same templet guides, and employs a very similar depth adjustment system.

And that is why I gave this router 4 stars instead of 5. Making fine adjustments to the cutter depth is not that easy, a lot of play in the housing. Micro adjustments are difficult to make. If you are looking for a fixed base router to use with a dovetail jig, explore other options.

My experience was enough to make a preacher cuss. I was considering my getting another RF1101 and using the PC’s as backups but I think I will do a little more looking. For sure, I will look at the Makita, lots of good history with the brand, but I would not get this with a fixed base only.

Perhaps the combination set that includes the plunge base. I do not want to discourage anyone about this router. Just be a little more careful than I about matching the machine to the intended use.

I already owned two 1101 fixed base routers before I ordered the plunge kit. Don’t get me wrong, I am not just a Makita guy. I own a 3- Bosch, 1 Porter Cable, 2 DeWalt, 1 Festool, 1 Craftsman, 1 Skil, 1 Hitachi, and 1 Black and Decker.

The Makita is simply the most dependable, smoothest operating. I have used one 1101 in my router table for six or seven years. It has never been out of the table since the first day I put it in. These routers are apparently indestructible.

But what I like most about the router is it has a good old fashioned switch and the plunge mechanism is smooth as silk. This is invaluable when routing dovetails with a jig. Would I like it even better if had a bright LED light? Yes, but it’s durability, great switch, incredibly smooth operation are more important than the light.

I rate this router far above all of the other routers I have including the Festool which is an incredibly over priced disappointment. I do wish Makita made a 8MM collet, but the Whiteside 1/2″ to 8MM adaptor I use seems to hold the 8MM bits without slippage.

I decided to buy a new fixed base router and picked this one. It has several good features such as soft start, variable speed, accepts both 1/4 and 1/2 in. bits and 2. 25 HP. To test it out I used both 1/4 and 1/2 straight bits.

The cuts I made didn’t even slow it down ! I found no dislikes about this router. I also own the Makita’s compact router RT0701C.

Another tool I’ve wanted for quite some time, but had never gotten. A project for a friend finally pushed into the “own” column. For about $55, you get a decent fixed base router. It comes with a couple different collets, a straight edge guide, a straight cut bit, two wrenches and an extra set of brushes for the motor.

I have only used it to run a 3/8” roundover bit through some oak, birch and pine. It works great, is easy to adjust and operate. There are some cons. 1) The top isn’t flat so you have to lay the router on its side when changing bits.

2) The power switch isn’t in the best location. It’s located on the top of the tool instead of near the handles. 3) Check the overall diameter of bits before you buy them. The baseplate opening is a bit small.

I bought the roundover bit set (1/8”-3/4” SKU 68870) from HFT and the 3/8” and 1/2” bits would not fit in the opening. The 3/8” roundover bit that comes with their multi-bit set (SKU 56550) fits just fine, even though it’s from the same manufacturer (Warrior).

I’m not sure if you can get a different baseplate. I’ll probably just make one, it isn’t rocket surgery. Overall, this fixed base router is a good performer, especially for the weekend warrior like me.

It is a steal for the money. It does ‘lack’ feature of any kind, as in, it has about ZERO features in way of ease of adjustment and such. So in this respect, I CAN be a bit of pain in the ass to do micro-adjustment say, when mountain in a router table.

But again, for 5o bucks, it’s a joke. I would have had to spend triple, nay quadripple this amount in order to have got the same horsepower and stability. I will not need to be using this day in day out for days on end, so I am not worried about maybe it being not as reliable as a ‘Bosh’, say, for long term, day in day out, high-mileage usage.

So, for the money, it is no brainer. This thing cost less than two of the ‘cigars’ I like to smoke on occasion. So I highly CAN and DO give it a major thumbs up. I am a master woodworker and artist and craftsman.

This is well—worth–the measly money it cost.

I went to my local big box store and looked at a router and the comparably powered units were between $149 & $179. Harbor Freight was next door so I went there and found this one for $59. 99. I wanted one specifically to mount in my router table.

I don’t use it often so I figured this one would be fine. Well, you get what you pay for. The height adjustment is fairly crude and it does not have a fine tune adjustment. I also found that it did not hold the set depth securely which was annoying.

On the plus side, it has good power and does the job but it is definitely a very basic router. I would not want to use it on an important project where you need to be precise. Next time I will save my nickels and follow my initial intuition.

I love the Makita router. It is a perfect size, very easy to use, especially with Rockler’s interlocking letter templates. In fact, I bought the router specifically to use with the Rockler interlocking templates.

t My other routers were just too large. One shortcoming is the router kit does not come with a template guide for the plunge router base. So you have to purchase it. The router does come with the template guide.

It is just the plunge base does not come with one. So be prepared to buy the template base. Despite this shortcoming, the router works fantastic. It is very light and easy to manipulate. The plunge base is excellent; it takes time to learn, but after you learn it and practice a little it comes easy.

Overall, I believe it is an excellent router, especially for the price. It is an excellent value.

Makita RT0701CX7 is a nice tool. Several family members and I really enjoyed using the router plus Rockler lettering template kit to create a bunch of boards with words. Results were very nice. Only two gripes: 1) difficult to insert router fully into plunge base (catches on portion where clamp is located, have to pry it open), and 2) off/on switch is a bit difficult and awkward to reach while router is running – a larger switch with more convenient location would be safer.

I’m a professional woodworker and have used a variety of compact routers. This one is quite good. Well balanced with the small base on. Glides nicely over work with out sticking like the clear plastic router bases do.

The plunge base functions great! Well designed tool.

Just bought this kit and it arrived yesterday. I haven’t used it yet, but right off the bat I have noticed a few pretty annoying issues: 1) This is critical to me. The depth adjustment wheel on the plunge base is designed incorrectly.

The stop pin interferes with the screw on the wheel and prevents it from fully depressing (see photo). This is an embarrassing design flaw 2) Two wrenches are needed to tighten/loosen the collets. However, the kit only comes with a single wrench.

One end fits the collect, one end fits the collet. I guess Dewalt decided to save a little money and forgot how their own tool works! Embarrassing flaw #2. 3) The hard case is poorly shaped for the tools, not holding them well – and with no clear locations for the accessories.

Embarrassing flaw #3 I own several other Dewalt tools that I love, but this just shows a clear lack of consumer insight and knowledge of the product they are selling. Very disappointed – and not likely to purchase future Dewalt tools after this experience.

Just received this today, box looked like crap. Torn apart, seams split wide open, holes in cardboard, box appears to be the super cheap Chinese cardboard (makes me wonder about the quality of the unit) appears that one of the collets is missing.

Haven’t tried to use it yet. Instructions are, for the most part, worthless. By the look of the box, it appears that this item has been bounced around and dropped multiple times. Possibly returned by other customers due to the condition I received this router in.

I will very likely returning this to Home Depot for refund.

I received this Combo router kit and like the looks of it. I have one problem: during shipping and handling, one of the plastic bags of parts was torn, and two parts ended up inside the case. I was able to retrieve one of them, the 1/4 inch collet, but there is still something rattling inside the two layers of the plastic case.

Not sure what it is, but unable to get it out. I looked at the parts list, and the only thing that seems to be missing is the shaft or tube part of the centering tool. I have the cone-shaped part. The Instruction Manual says that this Centering Tool is sold separately, so maybe I was not supposed to get that part anyways.

I own several other DeWalt tools, but most of them are the 20 volt battery variety. I usually buy Dewalt bits, blades, etc. for my power tools because they give me good service.

This is my first experience with a router, but overall I’m very happy with its performance. It seems more compact than most other routers on the market, which helps a lot with one handed freehanding using the standard base.

No complaints about life or power at all, you’ll notice some speed fade at the end of battery life but it still cuts right up to the end. I didn’t do it any favors either, cutting MDF with some Horrible Fright router bits, but it did great through the whole project.

The vacuum port attachment works fantastically, and LEDs give great visibility when cutting. I also really like that an additional plate was included to install it on a router table, and I ended up building one right away, which leads me to my only complaints.

There is a slight gap between the fit of the body and the sleeve of the base. Not really a problem when freehanding since you’re holding it steady, but installed on a table the bit tilts slightly when the work is fed into it.

I haven’t measured how much it changes, but that could be improved with some polyester tape on the bore or housing which I’ll try soon. The vacuum port can’t be installed on a thick table base either.

I’ll end up printing my own or building it into the fence, but it’s just a minor inconvenience. And my only complaint to rate this 4 stars instead of 5, the height adjustment dial will vibrate to change the depth of cut as you’re working.

Freehand, it ends up cutting deeper, but once you ruin a cut the first time you learn to hold the dial. Installed on a table though, it will continuously cut shallower. I currently hold the dial with one hand and feed the work with the other since I haven’t come up with a complicated solution to fix this yet, but it’s probably not the safest way to work with a router table but at least I’m right next to the power switch too.

I’m not aware of a way to lock the dial, maybe I’m missing something, but that would be a huge improvement.

We were producing a large 40’x8’ exhibit for a museum out of 8/4 clear cedar. It was a complicated design that required us to mill and fabricate a variety of thicknesses and widths from the rough lumber.

As a result we had over 3000 linear feet of 1/8 round over that needed to be routered and we wanted a small cordless as a number of the pieces needed to be routered post assembly. We looked at a few reviews and the Milwaukee came highly recommended.

It did not disappoint as we found it fit the hand nicely, had good balance, smooth operation, instant off and was easy to manoeuvre. It also was very quiet for a router. We also felt the dust chute was well designed and our Festool vac hose fit the chute tightly.

So why not a 5? Two things, when turning on there is a noticeable jerk so you need to be careful when close to your work. The big one was the lever that secures the motor in the shaft and the knurled wheel that controls the small adjustments to the router bit.

The lever as delivered does not secure the motor well enough. As a result the motor will drop very imperceptibly and all of a sudden you are cutting to deep into your work. There is a tensioning screw but we found to eliminate this motor creep we had to tighten it so much the lever became a bit of a chore to release.

Not a deal breaker but could have been designed better. Also the knurled wheel has quite bit of play. You need to make sure you take up the slack before making an adjustment or you will not get an accurate change in height of the bit.

Based on our extended use we would buy this router again but just cannot give it a 5 as there is a bit of a learning curve due to the above before you can put into production.

I can’t say enough great things about this. I’m new to woodworking and wanted a super easy way to cut dados and rabbets, among other things. A table saw was a bit much for me, and my miter saw is nice but it doesn’t have a slide or the option to stop the blade from going all the way in.

So, I decided on this and man did I luck out. First of all, super compact, extremely comfortable, easy to use and very, VERY powerful when using a 5AH battery. I use a 2AH most of the time and even that is enough for small projects.

The adjustment for macro and micro is extremely easy, and it is ROCK solid and stays in place once you set it up. There is ZERO movement when the adjustment is locked in, and that makes for a great cut.

Run time is good, even on a smaller battery. Two LEDs make it easy to see where you’re cutting and I like that there is a dust management accessory included in the box. It would be nice to get a free bit from Milwaukee in the box, since it IS well over $200 regularly, and at the moment just under $200.

As I said though, I lucked out as a very friendly manager was able to give me a few bucks off an open box, which was the last one left in the store. Thank you for doing that, you are awesome (manager at Yorkdale location).

Overall this is awesome, I will include some photos. I love using it, and can’t wait to get it into my hands and do something with it. Even if all I did was mindlessly cut dados all day, I would STILL enjoy using this router.

Love this small, powerful, router! While not inexpensive, this kit has all the key components to speed up edge forming and slot cutting. I really like the size and flexibility of this kit. I’ve only used it a few times but already it beats my full size router for simple projects for its light weight and easy handling.

I needed a compact, lightweight palm router and this fit the bill. It is strong for its size and has many options because of its base options. No other router had a 45 degree tilt-able base. Construction seems good, but only time will tell.

I own many porter cable routers and one Dewalt small router which is very similar. Though this router is not as powerful as my porter cable routers or quite as comfortable in hand as the Dewalt it definitely makes up for it in versatility.

This router is very well constructed and designed the power switch is in a very convenient position and the extra bases/accessories are unbelievably well designed. Makita is now making a cordless router which I plan on using the accessories for seeing how I only use Makita cordless tools.

I actually purchased this router to use with the offset base which did the trick beautifully. Very happy with my purchase.

I bought this product for my husband and he has been loving it. The product came with a nice carrying case to hold all the parts. He has been using it to help build a table. This is his first router so there is a bit of leaning he needs to do but overall, he seems to be figuring it out.

This is a great tool to have around the house and have found several good uses for it. It has a good bit of power which is nice. He has had a bit of a struggle adjusting the bit but I think he’s just learning how to use it.

We also have the router edge guide which has really helped him. Overall, a good product to learn on. I can’t wait to see what my husband builds next.

Just like countless other recent purchasers of this DW618PK router, the 1/2″ Collet chuck was missing from the sealed accessory bag—of which we checked before leaving the Blain’s store, thanks to the reviewer(s) who strongly recommended doing so—when we opened the sealed molded carrying case, (that btw, the DW618PK fixed router & plunge base DOESN’T EVEN FIT correctly or adequately into to !:~\ ) DO NOT BUY ! All previous & recent shipments from the Dewalt manuf.

are missing parts !! And after 36 hours. we’ve received NO RESPONSE BACK FROM DEWALT. :~\.

This is a replacement router for a burnt out 240 UK device (not Porter Cable). I’m using it with a Woodpeckers Sidewinder lift on an Incra table and a step-down transformer. I’ve given it some heavy treatment making large raised panels and it performs extremely well and just doesn’t slow down! The collet wrench is easy to use and the bits eject from the collet very easily.

The only fault I can find (which only affects router table users) is that the spindle locking pin is linked to the power switch with a plastic tab, which means that to operate the spindle lock, you have to reach under the table to turn the power switch off.

I will probably remove the tab because power is controlled from a NVR switch. I bought this router because it specifically fits my router lift and I’m very pleased that I did.

Great router when new. I used it about a dozen times after I got it but it quit working 1 week after the warranty ran out and was going to cost more than 50% of the original purchase price to fix it.

Went with a new Bosch instead.

Excellent and powerful router. After hundreds of hours my bearings in the same model were beginning to go out using it in a CNC. Have replacement bearings now and will build up a spare but had to have something quickly so I bought a new router of the same model.
