20 Best Wood Pellet Storage Container (2023 Updated)

I purchased a new wood-pellet grill and realized I needed something to store my wood pellets in. Searched until I found these — and they’re the perfect size for a 20 lb. bag of pellets. So, I may be a rookie BBQ smoker, but with my 4 Kingsford Wood-Pellet Storage Dispensers, I LOOK like a pro! 😉 They’re not too heavy when full and they’re pretty easy to use.

I keep mine on my patio and haven’t had any problems with moisture (the Kryptonite of wood pellets!) getting inside. I highly recommend them!.

It brings order to the pile of wood pellet bags by allowing you to neatly and safely stack multiple containers on top of each other. The handle alles for easy carrying and pouring pellets into the hopper of your grill.

You can always see how much is left, thanks to the transparent plastic. Overall the perfect container for this purpose except for one little detail (the reason for 4 stars instead of 5): It’s a tiny bit too small.

2 out of 10 of my 20lbs bags of Traeger wood pellets wouldn’t fit fully into the containers. Only two to three handful of pellets were too much, but that’s enough to create a mess if you expect a bag to fit while pouring it into the container.

I bought this since I wanted to sift my pellets before loading them into my smoker. What I didn’t realize was that while they advertise it as a sifter and storage bucket, you don’t really want to use it that way.

When you dump the pellets into the sifter sitting in the bucket you really don’t want to get more than a few inches in the sifter or is stops sifting and just collects pellets. It’s nice having the sifter sit in the bucket though because you can shake it and then the dust goes to the bottom of the bucket.

I bought a 5 gallon bucket and screw top lid from Lowe’s and just keep dumping the pellets from the sifter into the screw top bucket until the bag is empty. I then just use this bucket to store the sifter until next time.

If you dump your sifted pellets into the bucket not only do you not have a place to collect the dust but also when the bucket is full you then need to store the sifter. If you then want to have the sifter available to sift another flavor of pellets (I tend to like blending flavors) you really want to have this bucket empty to better sift pellets.

I was getting ready to brine my turkey for Thanksgiving and couldn’t figure out how I was going to submerse it. My pellet bucket was delivered right when I was having that thought. The design was perfect.

I was able to put my 20 pound Turkey into the wire basket and lower it into the bucket with the water and spices. When I wanted to check it or pull it out, I didn’t have to dig down into the water to retrieve it because of the wire insert.

I just lifted that right out. That was so convenient. The lid fits on tightly and afforded no leaks. It was perfect. Everything is made sturdy. I love the versatility of this pellet bucket.

Good purchase for any pellet grill owner. The sturdy mesh basket filters any dust from the pellets and lifts out easily for filling your grill. A large scoop is included and while the scoop portion feels sturdy I do wish the handle felt a little more solid.

The bucket itself seals tight and we haven’t had any issues with moisture even in humid East Texas. My main complaint is the lid. It’s a bit thin and I think ours may have come slightly warped, it can be difficult to get back on but I’m hoping over time it’ll get a bit easier.

I think a thicker lid or slightly different design wouldn’t have this issue.

This is the third IRIS rolling food container I have purchased and I do recommend them. My previous two were both advertised and labeled to hold up to 50 lbs of pet food. One is still going strong three years later, one a wheel broke when we accidentally dropped a 50 lb bag into it (totally our fault and otherwise the container is fine and will be repurposed where we do not need the rolling feature).

I bought the 69 qt (rather than the same I had bought before) because it is advertised/described as holding up to 54 lbs. It arrived today and the IRIS label on the 69 qt container says up to 46 lbs.

The plastic that the wheels pop into is thicker than the one we broke which is good. The wheels are smaller so the entire container sits a little lower to the ground but it still rolls well on tile floor.

My other IRIS containers have a large lip under the top all the way around which can be used as a handle when rolling/moving the container. This one does not have much of lip around the top edge, so it is not as easy to grab to pull/roll the container without popping the lid open.

Iris 3 Piece Airtight Pet Food Container Combo is large enough to hold a lot of cat food. It is a 33qt sealed storage container that has a locking handle. The plastic is thick and will hold the weight of the food without cracking or breaking.

I like that this is on rollers, so it is easy to maneuver. There is a good size food scoop as well that is made of durable plastic, so it does not bend when using. There is also a smaller treat size container that rests perfectly on top.

It too, is sealed to prevent any bugs from entering the canisters. These are a great alternative to store my cat’s food in place of just leaving it in the bag. I know that the food is protected from bugs and will stay fresher for longer.

To start, I have two dogs; an 11 year old Lab and an almost 2 year old bully mix. Anyone with a Lab knows they have a tendency to get overweight, ours has been on a weight management food since she was taken off puppy food.

When our puppy was transferred to adult kibble, we put him on what she was eating just to make meal times easier. After 6 months of crate rest following a couple hip replacement surgeries I decided to start feeding him a higher protein diet to rebuild muscle which is where the vittles vaults come in.

I thought, 40lbs of kibble would be perfect for each dog since they seal airtight and the kibble would stay fresh, and they’re stackable so they won’t take up that much space. They’re definitely airtight.

Stackable is debatable. They do NOT hold 40 pounds of kibble. They don’t hold 30. I went to fill one with a 32lb bag of kibble and I had about 5lbs left after filling it to the brim, shaking it to settle the kibble, and filling it even more.

Thankfully this was not an issue for my purposes. As for stackability, yes they do fit on top of each other. However, they are not very stable even when fully filled and I think a decent hit would knock them right over, and I definitely wouldn’t stack more than two.

We keep them in a low traffic corner so I’m not worried about them toppling but that’s something to take note of. The top vault also weighs down the bottom vault and makes it a bit harder to close it.

That said, they are well built and seem sturdy enough. If you’re looking to get one for the airtight and pest proof seal and aren’t buying huge quantities of food, I say go for it. If you’re buying a lot of food or looking to stack containers I would size up by at least ten pounds per food bag or look at other options.

I have been using this for 6 months before leaving this review. This container does keep the food fresh! It takes us just under 2 months to get through a large bag of dog food, and this does a good job keeping it fresh through that time.

It does exactly what it says it will do. That being said. there are some questionable design choices. One is that they provide a rounded scoop that doesn’t fit into the squared bottom corders, so when you get to the bottom of your container you have to figure out how to pour out the last of the kibble which isn’t as easy as you’d think since this is a larger container.

Another design problem is the difficulty of lining up the lid when you are putting it back on. I’ve taken to memorizing where the word “closed” has to be lined up with in order to screw on the lid without having to struggle to get the threads lined up.

The last main design flaw is due to the good seal on the lid. When the bin begins to empty out there isn’t enough weight to hold it in place and there are no rubber feet or anything else to keep it from sliding around.

You have to have this against a wall or something else to keep it in place while taking the lid off. At the end of the day this does exactly what you need it to with keeping kibble fresh. But I don’t think I’d recommend it if you have any mobility or hand strength issues due to the design flaws.

I bought this a 60lb Stackable Vittle Vault in April 2021 when I adopted my dog because I was told by ALL my dog friends how amazing it is. I have used it almost a full year to try and love it. I simply don’t! Some people say you should store dog food in the bag inside of it? Can’t fit a 30 lb bag of food inside the bag in here let alone 50.

So I would dump the dog food in and just wash it between bags. Except this thing is molded plastic with about 12 different grooves and bumps along the inside surface, making it hard to clean every nook and cranny so you don’t have oils going rancid.

Can’t even just rinse it in the shower because if you try to dump it out, water catches in the rim. And that last bit of dog food? I am 5′ 3″ and I feel like I had to be basically inside the dang thing to get the last cup or two.

If I try to dump it out, it goes everywhere because of the aforementioned lip. Oh and the lid? Please try to screw on this lid with one hand in one attempt. I found it so difficult to get it threaded on correctly! Overall this is a headache.

I will use it for bird seed that doesn’t need to be accessed twice a day and cleaned out once a month.

I have two of these food storage containers from 5 plus years ago. They are tough plastic nothing could chew through it You cannot press it in with your hand or your finger. This new one I bought is such poor quality that it dented in just from me grabbing it out of the back seat.

I was able to go inside and press the indentation back out but that tells you how thin the plastic is. It might keep ants out but not rodents or opossums. I bought this specifically for my dog treats back storage.

I kept them in my garage and the rodents got to it. I don’t think this container would keep a rodent out they would just chew through the thin plastic. Not nearly as durable as they used to be.

Simple and functional for what it is meant for. Also looks nice. Adds character to the fireplace.

I like it because it is deep and and not too wide…so doesn’t take up a lot of space but holds a lot of ashes. I like the flexible handle and the scoop is wide and well edged

Bought this to use for our updated fireplace. Bucket size is just right as is shovel-probably go with all decors. Happy with purchase.

I got the 35 pound size , and it is just what I needed , I feed my dogs Grandma Lucy’s dehydrated premix , so I needed a container big enough to holds two bags, since I get both pre mixes & mix together.

I did want to not use plastic so I brought a metal food bin that did not hold both bags even though it was to hold 20 pounds of kibble , which it did not and I needed airtight which the metal one was not in any way air tight.

So I seen this and brought the 35 pound container and it is just what I needed I can fit both bags of the premix with extra room for maybe another bag , it is air tight well as air tight as you can tighten the lid , since what I am storing in it is dehydrated No moisture has gotten in or any bugs , I keep container with food on my back enclosed porch with no issues.

And the lid stays tight on even after being knocked down by one of my dogs. I love it.

Purchased two of these, when placing them in the the trunk of my car the latch on one broke. Took it back and exchanged it. Got home with two. Filled them both with a 20lb back of Traeger pellets. Both containers bulged at the top and would not seal.

These containers can only hold about 15lbs, any more and they begin to budge. Good looking, fit will under the smoker but, fail at what they are supposed to do. They do not keep you pellets dry. They will allow the pellets to draw in moister and ruin the pellets.

Plan was to return both, just have not done it.

A solid pellet storage container, tight fitting lid, and easily holds 20lbs of wood pellets. I would have liked a little thicker material on the sides, but it is not flimsy. That is why only 4 stars.

I would buy again.

I was given an old rusty offset smoker and am in the process of refurbishing it. The ashpan had rusted out an was useless. I couldn’t find replacement parts from the manufacturer, so I took measurements (measure twice, purchase once) and placed my order.

Fits perfectly. Now all I have to do is finish the refurbishing.

The ash pan is working great. I’ve used at least 10 times since purchase. Glad I read the reviews and kept my old holders. The ones that came with the ash pan are straight. The angled ones that came with my Chargrill work the best.

Would purchase again.

The order and mailing team were on top of it. I rush ordered it for a BBQ I was having in 4 days and it got here in 2 days. Dropped the ash pan catcher (say that three times fast) right into the grill and fired it up.

And this part is no weenie ash pan catcher this is an ASH PAN CATCHER!! It will be here long after the earth has ended. THANK YOU!!!.

I ordered a white lid because I like to see it’s clean before I open it. The lid arrived on time and was easy to attach to the bucket. I wanted to make sure this would be what I wanted and would hold up to my use.

It’s what I can use and will be ordering more.

I keep my chicken feed in it and these lids make it so much easier to access the feed for me. It keeps the feed dry and safe. I will be getting other colors so I can identify what’s in the buckets rather then writing on the buckets.

Very easy to use and gives my boring bucket a splash of color. The twisting lid makes the bucket much more accessible. True Leaf Market has a good selection of colors and is a better alternative to Amazon.

I’m pleased with the quality of the item. It’s got a little weight to it so it’s a quality metal that seems to be coated with some type of heat protectant. It arrived quickly and I’m eager to try it out.

Sadly however, with the meat products skyrocketing in price, I’ll have to forego my favorite ribeye steaks and do up burgers instead.

This was the perfect fit for my Grill Master grill as the old charcoal grate had deteriorated from year of use. One thing that was nice as well was it was powder coated but I have a feeling that coating won’t last for long.

So far so good.

The box fell apart as soon as I unwrapped it from the plastic. The tiny nails aren’t big enough to hold this box together. The tiny nails were bent & all 4 pieces of the box collapsed immediately. Would not recommend.

Bought 2 4-packs, because I needed 6. They hold just what I wanted them to, in the EXACT space. I mean, EXACT. AND, they’re beautiful, to boot!

The boxes are built very well, but the dimension is wrong. Specifically ordered for an 11” drawer and the boxes are 11-3/8”.

I bought three of these containers back in January, and I like them okay. I would just say that when you’re thinking of purchasing a rolling container, think about the wheels. The wheel wells on these are molded on the inside, so you can’t sit bags of food flat in the container.

I use smaller bags of food, so I wanted to be able to put a couple of bags in each container. Two bags fit, but they tilt forward and/or backward because the wheel wells are inside, which is a problem.

Some of the other containers have wheels on the outside, which allows for more room inside. Wheels on the outside will also make it easier to clean if you drop food into the container and/or if you empty the bags into the container.

The wheels work great! Placement of the wheel wells is just not good.

This container arrived with the lid open in order to fit into the box which I thought was a smart idea at first. But, when I tried to shut it, I noticed that the gasket was peeling off the lid in two corners and had to be re-seated into the frame.

It’s made of a flimsy foam material that doesn’t seem to be glued in or able to keep things as airtight as something denser like rubber. There is also a small gap showing that the gasket doesn’t form a continuous ring.

The environmental guilt of packaging and shipping something so large is keeping me from returning it, so I’ll have to check it daily to make sure it stays in place. It closes securely, rolls well, and looks nice, but having to fix an item before using it at all is not reassuring.

A good seal seems like the most crucial element in food storage, otherwise you may as well use the box or bag the food shipped in.

This is a pretty good container, but the quality isn’t the best. We’ve had it less than two years and recently the whole side broke off. (Luckily we keep the food in the bag in the container, or it would have been a disaster.

) The handle probably only lasted a year or so. I really like that the casters are inside the bottom instead of sticking out, adding inches. I’ve had other containers where the casters were the first to go.

The size is good—enough for a large bag of food and a couple boxes of treats. I’ve yet to find a container of any brand that lasts longer than 2 years though. It gets at least twice daily use, but it’s not like we’re throwing it around.

It’s tucked away under a kitchen counter!.

Very nicely made. I am using mine turned on it’s side on top of bookshelf for extra book storage.

This box is great, but honestly, something that is made to hold a bunch of flatwood, I would thing would have been much bigger. I didn’t look, so it’s completely my fault, but the pictures didn’t really give context and I have a big wood flatwood box already form you all, so I thought it would be similar in size.

It actually cracks me up that it’s so little! Oh my goodness. I wish it were much bigger.

Popularity of this item was off the charts. I was kept informed of the backorder status and current status every step of the wait. And then I received the box earlier than originally expected. The customer service was excellent.

The box itself is just as advertised – unique, re-claimed wood. Hefty, well made and very cool. Absolutely worth the wait!.

I keep fatwood in this to start my fires. The wood of the box is beautiful but the screws that hold the box together could be more authentic. I am pretty happy with the box

I purchased these boxes in a set of 4 for the RV. They are a work in progress of becoming a long organizer for a table that abuts the wall. The boxes are rustic which is desirable to us. The construction is very precise and solid making them ideal for cutting down fronts, adding dividers, and connecting together for one long, more permanent fix.

A great junk collector for a full size Kleenex box, and a home for smaller items hard to find when you want them. I plan to order more for another upcoming project.

For a little wooden pallet bin, this bin is very spacious and I really like how it organized my cosemetics and a rustic way. It also looks very nice once I put everything in it. I was able to find everything in an organized manner and I was able to decorate it in a simple but pretty way but simply since I don’t have a lot of time.

Overall, very happy how the Pallet Wood Bin turned out!.

I bought this to use as an advice box for a bridal shower. Price was perfect and it worked well with cricut labels. The box is very light and delicate. Luckily we only needed it once but it can easily break and get scruff marks.

Wow! What a piece of krap. The plastic is OK but the frame is scary. We loaded approximately 210 lbs of food (cause that was all it would fit) and the junk frame which has terrible workmanship and welding leans one way, then the other.

Can’t believe this was made in the USA. Chinese quality is way better. We had to lean it against a wall to keep it from falling over. I own a fabrication company and tomorrow I will have one of my employees build diagonals for this frame to keep it from leaning.

Some of the worst welding and engineering I have come across.

I bought this to hold wood pellets for my pellet stove. Assembly of the frame was easy with a phillips driver and box end wrench. FedEx launched this off the back of the truck, box torn open but no damage except some gouges inside the hopper from the frame beating around in there during shipping.

The height of the opening allows for easy loading, not too tall but still able to easily hold 7 bags. The frame is stout and sturdy with almost no wiggle movement when full. Persnickety observations: 1) The picture of product shows a steel gate, notice the photos on line show a red spray bottle inside the blue bucket (reflection from metal gate) mine is plastic- no problems so far.

2) The description says the lid has a gasket. Nope no gasket. Just a single bulb seal parallel to the hinge line attached to the top edge of door that ends up inside the hopper. Not sure if it would keep any hard rain out.

The door is fairly flat so adding thin foam may be in order. Im not worried about rain but my garage is damp with moisture. What sold me on this was the description of it having a gasket!!.

I use this for wood pellets and I love it. It doesn’t take up as much room as I thought it would and it holds 7 bags of pellets just like another review said it would. It is heavy duty and I think it is going to work out for us great.

The ONLY problem we had was putting it together. Not because of the way the holes were drilled, which we first thought were all wrong, but that the directions didn’t specify that there was an EXACT order of putting it together.

I think the company needs to actually put stickers on the legs and cross bars as to which part goes with what part. After we worked on it for awhile we got it. The printed instructions do show somewhat of an order but all the parts look the same! Other than that, we are very happy with it and it is going to make my winter easier!.
