20 Best Wood For Workbench Top (2023 Updated)

There are two Gladiator accessory wood tops and only one digit in a long part number is different between the two. When I called customer service that I didn’t get the right one, they said it happens all the time.

They said to keep it and they’ll send the other one. While it was another 6 week delay, I didn’t mind since I got to keep the first one. Another example of Gladiator’s extremely poor logistics control.

Buy from Lowes or Home Depot to avoid issues.

Simple top completes the rolling work bases. This was shipped separately and not delivered with the units. They seem to coordinate shipping and arrival date close together so you don’t have it taking space for too long.

Excellent quality as usual, hardwood is a perfect fit, Many advertsers say we should trust their products but I have found with Gladiator this especially true. I had to wait for this product but it was worth the wait.

The Windsor Design workbench is made of quality hardwood, just as advertised. The bench fits perfectly into my smaller garage but I would also recommend this for larger work spaces. I appreciate the four drawers available for tools and storage.

The Windsor Design Workbench was just what I was looking for. The workbench was easy to assemble even though the instructions were at times hard to follow. Not all of the pieces of the workbench were marked as pictured in the assembly instructions.

The most difficult part of the installation were the four drawers. The directions do not state the how the drawer slides should line up. The drawer slides themselves are rather poor. This was the only downside to the bench in my estimation.

Table is solid and bench is good. The top is not completely flat, kind of wavy. I own 4 or 5 of these and first one I got in white, all other grey leg, and first one with a top that is not flat/level.

Clearly did not plane it correctly before sanding.

I bought this workbench so I can finally, after several years, enjoy my passion of building R/C aircraft again. I’m an “Old-School” modeler. I build kits, I scratch-build some of my models. Now that I have employment with a STABLE company, I can once again, BUILD without having to worry about moving.

Although this work bench is a might too narrow for my larger RC aircraft projects there is nothing stopping me from adding a deeper work top to it, such as some counter underlayment. My projects sport wingspans 72 inches and larger.

It is imperative that my work surface be flat and sturdy to ensure warp-free construction and pleasant flying characteristics. This workbench is SOLID, FLAT and STURDY! Not like some of those particle board contraptions available.

This workbench is easy to assemble with a minimum of tools. If I were to make a recommendation for improvement, it would be to suggest the hardware be packaged more securely in something other than a zip-lock bag.

I found several bolts had escaped this bag. Good thing the outer carton was undamaged in shipping. All in all, I’m pleased with this product and I recommend it to anyone who builds stuff!.

Purchased two of these tables to use as a kitchen island. Put them back to back and will put wood across the cross beams on one to make a shelf, drill hooks underneath for pots/pans and the chairs fit perfectly under the other.

Easy assembly, did it myself in less than 30 minutes. Solid, heavy duty parts. Beautiful wood top. Really impressed with the quality of the table for the price. Versatile piece of furniture.

Overall this is a nice table. A bit more flimsy than I was expecting though. The shelf doesn’t line up perfectly but that’s not a huge deal. I would definitely recommend this table for the price.

Don’t you hate it when you buy something and it’s not properly packaged against damage? And then it doesn’t go together well and is poor quality? This work table is none of these things. Very well packed, good (not quite great) instructions, and everything fits together perfectly.

Finished product is as solid as a rock. Levelling legs are sturdy and the work top is amazing. Don’t misunderstand, this top will mark up; it’s rubber wood, not bamboo, but hey, IT’S A WORKBENCH! Extremely happy with this product.

Only nitpick (minor) instructions could be a little clearer as to orientation of some pieces, and one step involving the number of bolts required is incorrect (you can’t put 13 bolts in 9 holes). As I said, minor stuff.

This work bench is a WINNER. Would definitely buy again (and I might just buy another). Home run Husky!.

I built a new garage last year, and purchased one of these work benches. I recently purchased another and connected the 2 together to make a 12 foot unit. Purchased threaded ready rod to connect the 2 inside legs together with locking nuts to keep the spread between the legs properly spaced.

May need to add a piece of threaded rod at the very top somewhere too, but I don’t intend on moving it. It should work good.

This workbench is what you need in your garage, mud room or woodshop. The height can be adjusted so you personalized it and work standing or slightly hunched over without breaking your back. The screw-in feet also make it very easy to level.

The designs of the legs make the workbench very sturdy – I have not tested its maximum strength but I doubt I would work on anything heavy enough to break it. I have not attached the back bar (there’s an obstacle on my wall in the way) and even then, the workbench is 100% immobile and sturdy.

It’s also very esthetically pleasing and would look neat in any space.

I bought this because I was tired of those cheaper models falling apart after just a few years. This is a quality product. It was easy to assemble and looks good as well. I added a power strip to the top and a light above it and not I have the perfect work spot in my garage.

I joined two 8’slabs together and created a great kitchen island. The Mrs is extremely pleased because I was able to use a router to cut the shape she wanted and finish the edge with a ogee The only issue was there was a slight curve 1/16 perpendicular to the grain however it will straighten out with slight pressure.

One side comes clear (very attractive) clear maple with extremely tight joinery the other side is very knotty. It looks great, less than 1/2 the price of natural stone. “It looks awesome” Home Run.

I have had occasion to buy many butcher block tops over the last year and this is as good as any I’ve seen. Well packaged to prevent damage, the corners are crisp and sharp, the edges clean and straight.

One side showed a few small voids in the grain but the other was beautiful and ready for action.

Arrived before it was expected. The packaging took quite a beating but the top was in great shape. One side had a few imperfections but the other was beautiful.

Our FP toploader was only partially emptying and after several attempts at putting a load through, would not empty at all. We bucketed the water out of the bowl then tilted the machine back against the wall and removed the pump just to check there was nothing stuck in it.

It all seemed fine. (be careful you will get wet!) Then we tried another load, it didn’t empty. We also checked that things were clean up top by removing the bowl. Lots of dirt but no socks or blockages.

So we ordered the pump and after we installed it have had no problems. Everything works just fine. Water empties out every time. We also got a lint filter, almost as the same price as the pump! But a lot less junk is going through the pump now.

Dell Latitude rugged tablet kickstand is exactly what I needed. It has a lot of friction so you can put it in any position and it will hold the tablet up.

Ordered this bench for a shop and attached a vise to it. It’s a large bench and offers good support. I think we will end up screwing it to the concrete floor to provide further stability. Really appreciate the height adjustability.

Shipping took some time from the manufacturer, but I’m happy with the quality and it was very straight forward to assemble.

This is a legit workbench! I am using it as an office desk, which is a bit overkill, but dang! It is super heavy duty and super heavy! It is high-quality, thick, solid wood for the desktop and the legs are thick and sturdy steel.

Seriously build like a rock. The height adjustments are very nice but needs to be flipped upside down for it to be done with reasonable ease. I would recommend for any task or purpose!.

I originally purchased a bench set with two floor cabinets from Costco a few years ago. This last week I purchased another bench from Lowe’s. Once I assembled the new one and placed it alongside the original workbench I realized they have changed the dimensions.

The older bench was 23″ deep. The new one is only 20″ deep. Wish they would have kept it at 23″. The new one is a bit too narrow for a proper workspace. And now I can’t decide whether to align the fronts or the backs of the benches.

Sure, it feels mostly solid. Good wood, solid metal legs. But, for as tall as it its, the adjustable feet stabilizer things have plastic bottoms to them, and they are very slippery, so the whole table moves around quite easily when pushed.

Which is probably not a good thing if you have objects on them and people and kids bump into the table and easily knock them over. So why not provide very sticky, rubber soles instead of making the customer go back out to the store to go find the right sized sticky things or having to make some for them? I like it overall.

But it’s tall and on the narrow side of things, so with these slippery legs, it’s not very well balanced, and it would be best served placed against the wall than be in the middle of the floor.

Legs look nice and top looks nice. I can see where the lacqer is missing on edges of wood. If you run your fingers across the top it is wavy and can feel cracks where wood scraps are glued together. I really want to return due to poor workmanship but threw box away.

It was not planed after glued together or something.

Purchased this on sale and its a great product for the price. It fits perfectly in the corner we wanted to place it in and matches our garage cabinets and tool box. Legs are adjustable length and the worktop is sturdy/ good quality wood.

I recommend for a small work bench.

Solid, very stable. Relatively easy to assemble. Ample ’gap’ between workbench top and support legs when standing in front of the bench, allowing you to stand close to the bench without interference.

I put this workbench top on top of 2 cabinets in my kitchen to create more space to set my toaster oven and microwave on in my new house. It works perfect. Durable, strong, not warped. It looks like a natural butcher block countertop.

Really impressed and cut in the perfect size for just what I needed. Finish has a natural look too too, not to glossy. Very happy with my purchase and the versatility of this product.

The two worktops I ordered were perfect for my sewing room. The wood was beautiful with no defects. Now I have a beautiful space to create!

Later models use a more energy efficient model running on 100v while this type runs on 230v. Because of the frequent load and fuses used with this electric circuit, these pumps tend to be the first thing to go on these washers.

I was grumpy when my washing machine packed it in whilst full of water. With this part, which was a direct “bolt in” there was no more hassle (after I drained all the water). It functions perfectly and replacement was super simple, a credit to the Fisher and Paykel design.

Super easy assembly, just read instructions before you start to avoid surprises. I wasn’t paying attention and assembled the legs facing the wrong way, which placed the holes for the brace in the front instead of the rear.

Once locked in place, it’s next to impossible to remove the legs without causing damage. Luckily, the front and rear of the tabletop are virtually identical. This workbench is very strong, and can be adjusted to varying levels to fit the task.

Very impressed with the quality of this workbench, and it just happens to match the Seville Classics workbench I’ve had for several years. Assembly instructions are clear with no language translation problems.

Perhaps most impressive was the packaging. Think of Apple packaging, except for a 79-pound object. Everything arrived scratch free and identified. Assembly was a no brainer.

Ordered this top with the Varnique finish option. The finish on the top surface is very good, with one tiny little bubble. However, the finish on the two end-grain edges is not good. It has runs and drips.

Perhaps the assumption is that this block would be surrounded on the sides by other countertop material, but my application is more like an island.

The maple in the countertop I received had a large amount of variation. I expected the pieces used to be more similar. It doesn’t match other Boos block used on this job.

The gorgeous countertop arrived early but broken. It split in half along one of the glue joints during shipping. They have promised a replacement, and I look forward to changing my 1 star rating once I receive the new countertop.
