20 Best Wood For Walking Stick (2023 Updated)

After having back surgery almost two years and trying all the walkers and devices available that claimed to help with back pain, I was told about a friend who had gotten this “miracle stick” through Tractor Supply Co, in Central, Ohio and swore that it was the best thing he had ever used to help ease his pain while walking.

I was put in touch with this friend and he convinced me that I should at least try one. I ordered one, took less than a week to have it delivered (they have to be ordered on line ) and it has changed my life.

I can now walk upright with my back and shoulders straight, not bent over holding onto a walker. I highly recommend this walking stick, what have you got to lose?.

Not what I expected. Nice staff overall but could have been finished a lot better. They cautioned about natural cracks but didn’t say that they were very sharp on the edges. Also where they inset their medallion the edges of the hole are sharp.

Overall it needs better quality control. I will make it usable but will probably invest an hour of my time to make it safe.

Every where I go people complement on my walking stick and ask me where I bought it from. I tell them it is a Brazo walking stick, but I bought it from Tractor Supply here in Texas. Sometimes my knee gives out on me and using the walking stick better than having a cane.

I also use it a the round about when cars won’t stop when the have a red light it is great…The reason I gave four stars, is because the walking stick does not have the holding indentation that is in the picture….

Not disappointed!! Basic walking cane for son who started hiking. Beautiful Cane and a great US company. Fantastic purchase for first or basic walking cane. Very happy with product.

I loved the walking stick until I got it completely out of the container. The bottom of the stick was bent back at a 45 degree angle where they attached the rubber boot. It was extremely awkward. I notified Brazos and they asked me to send them a picture.

I did but heard back from no one. I will not be buying another one until I can actually see it in person.

Beautiful workmanship and design. Redwood is gorgeous and the suede handle is very comfortable. Got the wolf one and it is outstanding. Very quick ship through Priority Mail. Seller is an excellent communicator.

I’ve always wanted a hiking stick, so when it was recommend-ed after a hip surgery, I set out to look for something that would be hand made and be of good quality. After looking around and seeing a lot of flimsy but expensive sticks elsewhere, I found this one and ordered it.

I was absolutely amazed at the quality! The redwood is beautiful, leather hand hold is thick but soft for a good grip, and the wrist strap is held on by some really solid metal hardware. it is very sturdy, has incredible craftsmanship, and is a steal for what little I paid for it! So pleased with this purchase, and will check out this company in the future, as they have quality products.

Awesome Walking Stick. Highly Recommended. I use this to walk 2-3 miles about 3 times a week. This is straight, strong and durable. More than I expected. Helps me with balance on the more rugged terrain and stray animals just in case.

I purchased one for myself two years ago following a back injury. Very helpful!. Excellent quality and service. I’ve subsequently purchased three additional ones for close friends who also have mobility issues.

They’re also VERY pleased with their canes. All of us being in our 70s and Irish makes it even better!!!. My wife says we finally look civilized!!!!.

I was very impressed with this cane. Its a conversation piece. I actually own 4 Blackthorn Knob canes that I have purchased over the years Each one slightly different but 36 inches in length. I use two of them to get around safely.

You may be “underwhelmed” by this cane for the price when you first receive it but after some experimentation, practice and adjustment in use, this is worth every penny. This style has not been in favor for well over a century with the Irish as a combination walking stick and self defense tool for no reason.

The included lanyard is very useful and it can be adjusted removed or replaced according to personal preference. The natural style finish is subtle and attractive, much more appealing than the more common shiny lacquer finish.

Fashionable Canes can’t keep them in stock at the price so that tells you something as well.

My wife bought two by mistake, your company would not return the $12. 95 she spent. They wanted $14. 50 for the paperwork. Why spend another $14. 50 when the original cane only costs $12. 95. I’ll never do business with your company again.

I thought the cane was solid wood. It has a skin that’s stained walnut. It’s a bit disappointing .Other than that it is “ok”

Pleased with the cane. Hard to find these days, a simple walking cane to assist my back condition. The paint chips easily, but it is not a major issue, the can is sturdy, has a good rubber walking tip.

I am overall satisfied.

This cane is a quality product at an affordable price that does what it is supposed to do and does it well. It is 36 inches long, made of sturdy hardwood with a clear finish. It has a soft rubber tip with a treat pattern that makes it skid resistant on smooth surfaces.

The length is suitable for people of average height and it can easily be shortened. Its one drawback is that it is not long enough for tall people, those over 5’10” or thereabout. After seeing what a bargain this cane was, I bought a second one as a spare.

I highly recommend it to anyone who needs such a thing.

Slight heavy compared to another I have but a nice solid real hardwood cane. Rubber cane tip was probably too easy to remove so a wrap of tape around the cane made it hopefully stuck on better. Cut off about an inch and its solid real wood, not a laminated thing and wood color matches the finish grain so there is a non-stained, non-faux clear-coat finish on it of some sort.

Seem to be able to use it with a wet hand and sticky hand and wipes off easily back to norm. Delivery was quick, came in a long skinny cardboard box wrapped with the cane itself wrapped in a tall skinny protective baggie – Price seems about right.

This item is a wooden stick with a rubber tip, so how could they go wrong? I carry a cane for self defense, since you can carry it anywhere, unlike certain other weapons, and this stick is strong enough to stand up to what I have in mind for it.

I cut off the end of the hook to leave it a bit more open, so its good for the types of traps used in cane defense, touched it up a bit with 300 git sandpaper and hit it with a coat of spray lacquer: Since the wood is not stained, the modification is unnoticeable.

The only criticism I would offer is that the rubber crutch tip is on fairly loosely, but this appraisal in regards to its being a weapon, not a cane, and a sinmple piece of tape around the shaft and repressing the tip on is enough to make it nice and snug.

Remember: When canes are outlawed, only criminals (and old people) will have canes.

This is a beautiful cane but more for decoration than use. I’m A big man and was counting on a sturdy wood cane with some weight to it. But this can is very light and the handle is too narrow instead of being full rounded.

I have big hands and I’m afraid to use if or count on it so its simply a decoration. I do NOT recommend it for large people with big hands. The entire cane is narrow instead of being g round. If I had known this I would NEVER have purchased it.

If it was round and a bit heavier it would be a great cane.

Walking stick is perfect. Been on crutches after a fall and blew up my knee. Walking stick is much easier to handle and get around. Less cumbersome than even on one crutch. Nice and light weight but definitely serves it purpose for relieving the weight on the knee with each step.

Beautiful cedar wood is icing on the cake.

These are incredible! Hame top oak (twisted,) walking stick. The weight and balance are perfect. This is a good cane, hiking stick, or bludgen. I bought two. They came very quickly. I ordered two more.

The stick is lightweight and easy to carry with a handle that slips over the wrist. The compass on top is tiny but works. The rubber stopper on the end is good for gripping walking surfaces. Great natural wood product!.

The walking stick is high quality. After, I bought the walking stick, I received an email from Brazos. Their offer if I bought the stick directly from them then I would get a free case for the stick.

This seems to make the playing field uneven. I wanted to contact the president of Brazoz and Brazis wouldn’t give out that number. Hopefully, Brazos will read this and send me two cases as I am entitled to such.

I use it on walks to keep my balance due to multiple sclerosis nerve damage. My disease has not stopped me from climbing a deer stand ladder or beating the brush for a an elusive cottontail with my beagle Sadie.

I adamantly believe in the old adage “Never give up”.

This cane has a beautiful black lacquered finish & was able to be adjusted (by my husband’s handiwork) to be the right height for me to use with a 4 prong base for stability after he removed the rubber tip & installed the new base (which I purchased separately).

It stands alone by my side while I am sitting & helps me to get around safely. I would recommend this product for its durability & usefulness.

I wish it was a few inches taller. I am 6 feet tall and it is just a few inches too short. I thought they were all a pretty standard size but this cane is okay. I haven’t been able to find any taller ones though.

I suppose that is why so many people are buying those metal canes now? I just don’t like the look of the metal canes. They are so “cold” and don’t have any pizazz about them! This cane is so attractive and sophisticated looking.

I have always prefered a wooden cane over the metal or any of the other versions. I was so happy to find your website and get a great product for a price much less than the competitors! I will definitely be a repeat customer.

This was my first purchase with TSC on-line. Although it took a little longer to receive my cane, the process was easy and since my TSC store is only a couple miles away, it was an easy pickup. I am impressed with my new cane.

It is sturdy, thick, and very unique. The price through TSC was good too. Brazos canes and walking sticks are great and made in Texas. I would recommend this product and the TSC on-line shopping experience.

Very attractive and unique piece. Not sure how much weight it would support, but if all you need is light support for balance, this will work fine and look terrific. It is lightweight however. If you need to lean a lot of weight on a cane, you should consider something more mundane, like a standard metal cane.

If you are going to get this cane, Walmart has the best price.

For 2 years I have tried to replace a hardwood root cane that my wife lent me and which garnered many positive comments. When I saw the photo it looked close to what I was looking for and at a very reasonable price.

It is a bit more rigid than what it is replacing, and no less beautiful. The natural bend in the handle fits my palm well and orients the cane properly for use. It is an answer to my balance issues and therefore gets near- constant use.

This is my favorite cane. The tourist handle is comfortable to use and easy to hang on doorknobs, chair backs, towel bars and my own arm. The natural ash is nice-looking and seems durable. Great price, too.

The cane arrived very quickly and is very nice size and well made. The problem was that there was a significant lack of finish on the shaft of the cane. The handle was okay, except for a knife cut across the back of it, the finish there was very nicely done.

For the money I will finish myself and be happy with my purchase.

This cane is about 1/16 inch thinner than the 7/8 inch black cane offered, so I wanted to stain this one myself in order to have the thinnest, lightest cane possible. This proved difficult because the cane isn’t really in a “natural” state.

It is lightly varnished and I had to try to sand it before I could stain it. Result splotchy. Would not recommend for this purpose.

Very high quality cane. Extremely well made and finished, Ebony is an exotic durable wood and will last long beyond ones lifetime. Anyone looking for a class cane should look no farther but to contact Fashionable Canes.

I’m as vain as any old man and facing the first of two knee replacements and a double hernia operation in the next 6 months I wanted to reward myself with a really cool cane that I knew I would be sporting for months to come.

Already received numerous positive comments. The most important coming from my PT’s. They love the quality of the cane with the sturdy rubber tip and the feature of the custom fit. A wonderful purchase.

The cane was delivered on time however, the bottom of the shaft was to small for the rubber tip. No excuse for the poor workmanship. The tip came off the moment I tried to use it to walk. Almost went down because the cane slid on the floor causing me to fall.

Still trying to decide what I can do. Maybe I will make some expensive tooth picks from the shafts. Jim Walls.

I’ve taken to the range a couple of times. I wish it was a couple of inches longer. Nice light weight and the broken color is a plus . . .

Strap is only cotton, not leather! Top piece looks added to the staff, & it’s where I hold it-not comfortable the spacing at the connection:( Staff looks good but not for me ever buy another here. If you put your hand through the strap, probably needs larger strap! I will replace it & smooth the connecting joint.

The walking stick is a bit rough, but sturdy! And you can cut it to any length you are comfortable with!

I ordered two hiking staffs at once. They arrived in just a couple of days! My father and grandfather always carried a staff when walking in the pasture or woods. They came in handy a few times when snakes were in the path.

I’m older now and need my staffs for balance and weight bearing at beach! I keep one in house and one in the trunk! They’re beautiful and remind me of “the boys”!.
