20 Best Wood For Truck Bed (2023 Updated)

Awesome toddler bed! My 3 year old is obsessed with it and it’s such great quality. I was hesitant based off some of the negative reviews to order it, but gave it a go since the price was so great. This bed is safe, easy to put together and fun! Most negative comments are likely because someone rushed through putting it together or didn’t read the weigh restrictions – User error!.

I am giving this review four stars because we just completed our install yesterday and while everything seems secure and well made, we have not tested DECKED in the field yet. However, we certainly had difficulty with the install.

From our team’s perspective, the install instructions stated that we should expect to be complete within four hours. For our team of two people, the install took just under six hours of straight, hard work with limited breaks and very little none install related banter.

This suggests that we are either slower than most or the estimate of install time is off. We completed our install on a 2021 Toyota, Tacoma with 6-foot bed. Throughout the install, we found the provided instructions to be unclear.

Without getting into details/specifics, I would suggest that the DECKED team provide install kits to teams that have never installed a system before. Then, observe/film the teams and note areas for improvement to the directions and written installation instructions.

Because the written instructions and illustrations were not as comprehensive as we believe they should be, we also used several online install videos (from DECKED and others) to help provide additional context and install details.

However, not everyone will have access to this video, and we felt the written instructions could be improved. We are looking forward to using the DECKED system in the field and have high expectations for its durability and functionality.

If your truck is on a slant slightly left or right the drawers seem to rub and make noise. My set up only came with two ammo cans not four. It doesn’t reach to the end of the bed of the truck there’s a 5 inch plus gap.

I lock the drawers forgot that my second set of keys didn’t have the drawer key that I needed so I had to stand on top of the box and pry it open which took me all of three seconds. And I had to buy the locks separate.

And one of the ammo can lids doesn’t look like it was produced correctly plastic looks kind of shady compared to the other side. Drawer size and ammo cans especially missing the front to towards the cab makes me feel like I lost an extreme amount of room.

And then some ads I saw for this product they said you didn’t have to modify the bed of your truck to fit this in but I had to drill holes and put anchors in. after I bought the product I found this out.

And for whatever reason I listen to you and everybody else talk about drilling out the bottom of that ammo cans but in the recent rain storms and hail storms we’ve had here in Colorado I’ve noticed more water in the drawers and the ammo cans were completely dry until I took the lid off and drip some water in ? Yeah everybody states the opposite.

i’m sure in the future I will pick out many more things that I dislike because I am a very picky person when it comes to expensive things I buy. Thank you if you got to read through all of this and I appreciate anything that you can do to fix it in the future.

Typically when you purchase something for the price point you go into immediate regret. Well when my Decked System arrived I was a bit overwhelmed with the task of “how the heck am I going to put this together?” After watching an hour or so of “how to” videos I figured it was time to roll up my sleeves and get busy.

Believe it or not the directions were as clear as day. The instruction video was probably the best narration I’ve ever heard on an instruction video. (Props to who ever wrote the script) The entire install generally took around 3 hours or so with a few helping hands.

The YouTube videos weren’t lying, it’s basically one big lego. After installation, we just threw everything in the drawers and headed out to camp. I for one opted in on getting locks with keys. I left my camp gear, my drone, and camera in the drawer system and never felt so comfortable leaving it locked.

After camp, we decided to actually “organize” everything. The best thing is it doesn’t come with a box and some dividers to help separate things from shuffling around. Overall, my fear of regret is gone and I’m happy.

Only downside is that I installed a bed rack that wasn’t high enough to accommodate more stuff on top of the decked system. The system gives you about 5. 5 inches or so of bed space for height so just make sure you don’t make the same mistake in buying a shorter bed rack.

Beautiful and incredibly easy to put together. Took 15 minutes. It’s not as low profile as I thought it would be, but that’s my fault for not reading the description and accounting for my ultra thick mattress.

The quality is great and the wood tone is really rich.

The bed was so easy to assemble. I love it when you can click the rails on and don’t have to hassle with a thousand screws. Did screw on the slats, but that was just fine. The color is darker than the picture though, which is my one gripe.

It’s perfect. Quick & easy set up. I’d say the hardest part was transporting all the pieces up two flights of stairs. I live by myself & chose not to pay for the installation lol so that’s on me. But overall, after I got everything upstairs, it took me an hour to set up.

Maybe less.

the bed is good all in all, the instructions were completely pointless, Itty bitty pictures can’t see anything and there’s no written instructions. half of the hardware didn’t work, one screw wasn’t stamped properly and only had half the swirls on the end so it wouldn’t screw in.

missing dowels with it. Also, whatever the paint is or whatever they put on the bed has the strongest nastiest smell ever, it was like sniffing spray paint for over an hour putting it together. after I went and bought extra hardware and got it together the bed is decently solid besides the centers of the side rails because they wouldn’t screw together so all that’s holding it is the blue plank.

I was a bit disappointed by the bedframe upon receiving it. I couldn’t believe a log bed frame arrived in one box. It is basically because the logs are not logs at all, depending upon your definition, but more like thick branches with the largest size diameter of the legs being 3 1/2 inches in diameter.

So if you are looking for a log bed with logs around 5-8 inches in diameter, this is not it. It is also a bit of a bear to put together when you are putting the frame into the footboard and headboard as there is some need of bending the frame to fit into the corresponding hole in the footboard/headboard.

I my case it was not easy to do due to some mild warp in the frame on both sides which is common on dried wood. However after much persuasion it finally went together. I did not stain it as I liked the white cedar logs but this definitely needs some type of protective finish and used poly to coat the “branches.

” The wood was so dry that it sucked in the poly like I have never seen before. Several coats are needed to get a nice protective finish. With that being said, the bed appears sturdy and well made and is nice looking.

I feel the product is good for the price as you will spend much more for an actual “log” bedframe. Shipping was quick as is usually the case for Sportsman’s Guide. Overall, I am happy with the purchase.

Pros first- the directions were good rather simple plenty of pictures. RELATIVELY EASY TO CONSTRUCT ALONE HOWEVER ANOTHER SET OF HANDS WOULD H AS VE BEEN HELPFUL. Now for the cons- Anumber of parts had huge cracks and before construction I filled in a number of the parts cracks with Elmer’s wood glue and allowed those pieces to dry a day before staining.

Nails were provided for s great deal of construction! I substituted with plates Phillips screws I bought at ACE Hardwsre 50 pack for 5 bucks. In addition the screws were a rustic color and went well with the bed.

I stained all parts Min- Wax Pecan before construction outside as not to stink up the house. I caution you shou you stain. do not stain the Male ends to their end! If you do you will struggle pushing them into the female ends of the joining pieces.

The stain will cause the Male ends to swell and make them hard to join up. I bought mine from Sportsman Guide and a few parts were so cracked I requested replacements. SG had replacements and got them sent promptly.

When the bed is done it is rather attractive! PICTURES AVAIL ON REQUEST.

With only nails to hold it together, I was worried it would be loose or creaky. After a year, neither is the case, it’s pretty rock solid once it’s all nailed up. It needs a finish, and I’d advise anyone to apply the finish before you assemble it – it’s much easier.

I found assembly pretty straightforward, with directions that were fairly clear and easy to follow. The only hang-up was the small wooden plates supplied to nail to the top of the long rails at the four corners, designed to keep your mattress from sliding off.

They were too wide to allow my mattress to fit onto the assembled bed, so I cut them to half width and drilled new holes for the nails, after which they went on and fit my mattress just fine. I did this with an old fashioned hand saw, so you don’t need fancy tools for this, or for any of the assembly.

The other thing to be aware of is that it all comes in one box which is pretty heavy, just about all I could manage to lug anywhere by myself. Overall a good product that goes great with rustic decor.

The metal is thin so I understand why it was shipped with end caps that had to be removed prior to installation in order to join the two pieces. There was nothing in the instructions that addressed how to get them out.

I called customer service but no one ever returned my call. I thought they were break-aways at first so took a hammer to them, there wasn’t enough of a lip to pry them out. I ended up having to drill a hole through the middle and then pry them out with a screw driver.

That process took the longest time. After the caps were out it probably took less than a minute to join the two pieces and probably less than 10 minutes to attach it to the bed and that was because I was picky about getting it centered.

So if you can get the caps off successfully this headboard is super easy to install and looks beautiful.

Very disappointed with this product. First all the hardware needed for it wasn’t there and second the frame isn’t able to fit my queen size box spring like it’s supposed to. Frame, even on its smallest setting, was still to big for the box spring and mattress.

I will be returning the bed frame with what little hardware I had received and buying a different one from somewhere else.

If I could give negative stars I would. This says it’s a “post bed set”, it is not. It is ONLY a headboard, or a footboard whichever you choose to use it for. Only one piece of metal with some screws.

No “posts” and no “set” included. If you need a headboard, footboard, and frame. This is not what you are looking for. The woman I talked to in customer service was nice and tried to be helpful, but all she could say was that maybe I clicked the wrong size, no it says “King” in the description and there was no place to choose any modifications.

I am very upset about this as it looks like such a nice “POST BED SET”, sadly it is not. Don’t waste your time or money on this “bed”.

Dimension was off, 1/32 over 1-1/16 thickness. Nothing a belt sander couldn’t fix. Weird light wood with clear grain, like pine without knots. No, not a hardwood. Thin cross grain slices can be bent like cork without breaking.

I made painted shutters with it and lightness was more important than clear grain. The left over pieces make great non-marring inserts for my vices. I have no need for more shutters, therefore, I never buy it again.

The product was dimensionally accurate and was what I was exactly what I was looking for. However, I was not crazy about the adhesive that was used on the UPS label and the caution labels. They were impossible to remove and required an awful lot of sanding.

I ordered 2 24″ 1×6 pieces. the project require a 12″ width so glueing was required. The 2 boards were vastly different. One was excellent the other still had rough spots and had to be planed to smooth.

I was unable to use that board. When contacted Rockler sent a replacement board at no cost and did not require returning of defective board. Excellent service.

good design that has thoughtful foam sheets that self adhere to the lips of the ramp to help prevent scratching body paint. Should give max weight for alternate ramp wood like pressure treated pine. How many people will use the recommended oak?.

The Lund ramp kit is a very good kit. It is, in fact, made of aluminum, not steel. The package does not state that it is steel, just the O’Reilly advertisement. I am very satisfied with the product because i wanted aluminum to start with.

I was pleasantly surprised!.

You can make different lengths of ramps in minutes with lumber you have laying around. Much easier than trying to lug a six or eight foot ramp in the back of your pick-up.

Obsessed with this low profile bed frame! It is so sturdy, but does require some effort to build. Having a drill is a non-negotiable when assembling. It is possible without one but will severely cut your time in half.

My brother (with a drill) built this frame in under an hour. The lip on the frame provides some extra storage for a remote control or phone docking station. Highly recommend!.

The bed frame is wonderful and fit well into the room. The craftsmanship is excellent. The Montana Woodworks folks worked with us on delivery and timing and were wonderful.

Lovely bed, and very solid. The top wood rail on the footboard is curved slightly outward on one side making the footboard look a little crooked, but I think that’s what you get with this style. Also, I’d suggest a 9″ foundation if you want to tuck in your sheets without having to dig down next to the side rails to reach underneath your mattress.

The bed requires 2 to assemble (1 person to hold the rails in place while the other screws it in) but it is easy and only takes about 30 minutes. The bed is not only beautiful but very solid. It definitely draws attention.

I love it and am very happy with this purchase.

We’re pleased with the quality of the components, packaging, and assembly instructions. The delivery person didn’t love the weight of the 3 boxes (and they *are* heavy), but things arrived intact and undamaged thanks to efficient packaging.

Individual panels were well made and everything went together in about 4 hours. Please note, though, that I have a lot of experience with this sort of project. Note also that it would have been difficult for me to replicate this raised bed on my own/with my own materials for this price (including my labor costs) and thus was worth the expense.

An extra pair of hands might be useful for some folks, but I found that Quick-Grip style clamps held things together just fine for assembly on my own. The directions do not include information about the importance of squaring everything up before installing final braces, so be aware of this detail before trying to install the gate at the end.

Took one star off because a 2×2 piece came broken. and the hinges are plastic. otherwise it’s a 5 star garden. I’m glad they had an 8×8 size. Would have loved the 8×12 if our yard could have fit a garden that size.

Easy enough to put together. We had two drills set up. one with the drill bit to predrill holes as needed. and one drill set to screw the screws in. One 2×2 top piece came broken and they are sending a replacement piece.

For being so well built, I was surprised that the hinges on the flip up trellis are black plastic. They won’t last even a summer of use here in Arizona. I’m replacing the plastic hinges with metal ones.

I love that I don’t have to bend to the ground to tend the garden. I can also control my soil conditions. and the extra depth helps roots grow deeper into the garden. We added the Titan Squash Tunnel and look forward to when the squash leaves have covered the tunnel creating a more shady spot for vegs to keep growing during our very hot sunny weather this summer.

I might try sitting out there in the shade! I’ll try to post progress pictures later this season, and add additional comments as I discover them. We are really pleased to have purchased this raised garden!.

Put it together alone in about 6 hours – another hand to steady parts in the early stages would have been useful, but not required. FedEx ground “lost” part of the shipment, but EarthEasy helped push FedEx to complete the shipment.

The instructions for connecting the inner wall pieces could be clearer, but nothing we couldn’t figure out. I had some metal hinges lying around that I thought looked nicer than the ones EarthEasy supplied for the gate, so I used those instead.

All in all, we are quite pleased with the product. The wood looks great and we would not hesitate to recommend it to others looking for a raised garden kit.

Simple to put together and super sturdy. Could do it by yourself, but easier with 2 people. I’m a bit shocked at how cheap this bed is given the quality, best purchase. Heaps of underbed storage (which was why I ordered it) – once bed is constructed clearance to get things under the bed is around 26cm.

Mattress sits on top of frame, not in it, which I like as it makes the bed that little bit higher to prevent my dog from helping himself to my bed. Mattress doesn’t move/slide. Slats have Velcro to prevent movement and the metal bar/legs that support the middle have a foam strip to stop metal on metal.

Really happy with purchase. Its a better quality bed at a third of the price, than others I’ve brought from expensive stores. Highly recommend!.

I really enjoy this frame. The driftwood color is pretty and the texture gives it character. The frame is made from composite wood. Assembly with 2 people didn’t take too much effort and time. The pieces were packaged very well and instruction were clear.

A caveat, if you obtain a King size frame, I recommend getting a few more slacks to fill in some of the gaps between the provided slacks. Note, I have only a mattress (no box spring) so the added slacks (just a few pieces of lumber from a hardware store, appropriately measured, of course) will offer extra support and prevents the mattress from sinking.

By the way, it was delivered earlier than expected by UPS (with some minor dings to only the packaging). Overall, great quality and recommend it if you are seeking something simple and natural.

I was pleasantly surprised! This bed is built solid, and has a beautiful appearance. It was not difficult to assemble. Arrived in 2 boxes but on the same day. It is solid wood, covered in veneer. Our box springs fit perfectly into the frame, which I love.

No gaps. Good height once all put together — we have 4″ box springs and a 12″ thick king size bed. Don’t have to jump up or crouch down to get into bed. It is hip height. One knick on the headboard, but not a big deal.

I would def recommend this bed.

Who says the Coronado Bed must stay hidden? The one I ordered from 1StopBedroom looks great as a side piece on my all-season porch! Now my seasonal decorations and outdoor serve ware is conveniently hidden inside a beautiful, stylish Bed.

The Bed’s nicely finished top shows off candles and other items that I switch out regularly. I always get compliments on my clever use of this pretty piece.

I initially did not think that this bed frame was worth the price, however, I was wrong. After hours of extensive research, I came to the conclusion that this is by far the best wooden bed frame on the market.

Why you ask? Reclaimed wood is better than hardwood( walnut, oak, etc. ). Tons of space for under bed storage. The slats are MASSIVE and make the mattress feel as if though it is laying on the ground.

Oh and it looks BEAUTIFUL. If you have the money, I just saved you hours of research because this is as good as it GETS. I was worried about issues with the shipping company because of the reviews that I read but it was smooth and a pleasant experience.

We ordered the King size eco wood bed frame and could not be more pleased. It looks exactly as pictured on the website, handsome and with plenty of character. I was a little worried that it would look too homespun but it’s actually the perfect balance of rustic elegance.

And there are a lot of thick, sturdy slats, which after researching I learned is the main thing to look for in a platform bed. The frame was shipped 6 days after we placed the order, and was delivered 12 days after that.

White glove delivery went very smoothly: the delivery company communicated clearly and effectively, set up a 4 hour delivery window, called us when they were 30 minutes out, assembled the frame and took away all the packaging.

(The King size frame arrives in 3 boxes. ) They were in and out in 20 minutes! There is a rather strong piney/resinous smell–my guess is that it’s the finishing oil. It’s not unpleasant, but if you’re very sensitive you might need to open a window or two to let it dissipate.

Now I’m looking forward to putting our new Avocado mattress–which doesn’t arrive until tomorrow–on this gorgeous frame. My one complaint: it’s ridiculous that Avocado can’t coordinate frame and mattress delivery when both are ordered at the same time.

I’ll post another review if any issues arise, but right now I’m in love with the frame no matter what we end up thinking about the mattress!.

We ordered the bed frame for the first time back in October. Unfortunately, when it was delivered it could not be assembled. The rails for the bed did not fit properly into the head and foot board. When I contacted them about the situation (while the delivery was on-going) they immediately guessed that the rails were causing the issue, which makes me think that this is a common problem.

I was forced to refuse the shipment, and they sent us a new one, with a discount for our troubles. I also requested that they make sure to assemble the bed in the warehouse before shipping it, as it is very clear that the first one we received was never assembled.

The new one fit together well, and we did not have any issues. I do have to say I liked the first one better in terms of looks. I am guessing that because they are using reclaimed wood, every product is slightly different, which would account for the difference in appearance.

Additionally, both the bed and the dresser have a strong musty smell. It is noticeable and really off-putting. I am not sure if it is because of the wood being reused, or because of whatever products they used to make it.

I am definitely disappointed by the strong smell and the situation we had with the delivery.

We bought this frame and it’s beautiful, no doubt about it! Unfortunately for us, we had to return it. Prospective buyers should be aware that depending on the size of their mattress, it could completely fill the bed frame.

We realized this when we put our new Model 9 (11. 5″ high) mattress on it. The sides of the bed frame also have just enough of a ‘lip’ that our mattress very snugly tucked right underneath it, making it quite awkward and uncomfortable for us to get our fingers underneath the mattress to put sheets on and make the bed.

There was literally no space between our mattress and the sides of the frame. We couldn’t see ourselves struggling with it for the next 10+ years, so had to return the frame.

The bed is amazing and of solid wood. It looks extremely good and has a perfect color. Only that the instructions are a bit confusing as there are multiple steps written in the same step number. So you could miss a few steps if not careful.

Also there were no pilot holes in the solid wood. Though it says to not use power tools, in our case we had to as it was getting impossible to screw in the solid wood.

Construction seems solid. Put it together with one other person in about 2 hours. There is some off gassing and while it doesn’t bother me, I could see it being bothersome if you are sensitive to scents.

I got the Scandinavian oak color, I do like it but it’s definitely warmer than shown in the stock photos. There was a bit of a gap as well in the length of the frame vs the bed, but only 2 inches maybe.

Overall I like it!.
