20 Best Wood For Swing Set (2023 Updated)

I have several suggestions. 1) A list of what hardware you should have leftover with quantities would be extremely helpful. That way you can compare what you have left over with what you should have leftover and more easily determine where any mistakes may have been made.

2) Building off my previous suggestion, it would also be advantageous to be able to click on the parts in the parts list and have a menu pull up with a clickable list of steps in which that part is used.

3) A quick access ruler to measure hardware that came out of the identifying packaging would be very useful.

I just started putting this together yesterday and at about 3 hours in, I’m almost finished. The kit is great quality, all of my screw holes line up, everything is there, etc. The kit is lighter than expected, like my wife and I can move it around with no issues, but it does come with anchors to anchor it down.

It’s also a little smaller than expected, which is fine, I just didn’t study the measurements like I should have. Overall, its a great kit though, especially if you have a smaller yard.

We purchased this fabulous set for our little grandson and he absolutely loves it. Two swings (we paid extra for a bucket swing seat as well as the ordinary seat), a climbing wall, slide, covered fort on top with mesh sides for safety and complete with a blackboard too.

It was straightforward to erect, with clear and detailed instructions and is very solid. A great outdoor play set he’ll enjoy for years. Thank you.

I spent several weeks researching playsets before getting the Skyfort 2 with wave slide. I don’t know how this set has so many great reviews. The wood is very thin and many of the boards are warped. Some are also cracked.

This made it very difficult to assemble without breaking them. Some pilot holes were in the wrong place and some didn’t have any at all. We have a 40 lb 5 year old and 60 lb 7 year old. If only one of them are swinging or in the fort the whole playset just makes the loudest screeching and wood bending noises I have ever heard.

It sounds like it’s going to come crashing down. I stood under the fort floor and saw the floor boards bending as they walked on them. They are only 100 lbs together so this should not be happening. The slide was bending with their light weight so I had to call customer service and they said they would send a replacement but we aren’t letting them on this set.

It would need lots and lots of reinforcement and not sure if that would even help. When the kids are both on the glider the whole fort would sway even with anchors. This shows the wellness of the thing as a whole.

It took my boyfriend about 50 hours to assemble but we have considered taking it down and sending it back it was so expensive and not worth a tenth of what it cost. I’m so disappointed I could cry. I’d be surprised if this thing lasted 6 months.

Our playset turned out great! Our son loves it. My husband and I put it together ourselves. I’d say it took approximately 12-15 hours total and that was over the span of 3 days. We did spend 8 hours straight on it the first day and got the bulk of the building parts put together.

My husband then finished the details and roof by himself over the next two days after work. The instructions were easy to follow but we did have a little issue starting off. We didn’t realize/notice the many different holes in each piece and didn’t have them all in the right directions at first.

We did end up having to take apart some of the main framing pieces to flip the boards around. It’s super cute, super sturdy, we all try to fit in the upper house part and it’s strong enough to hold us! Lol.

I really enjoyed construction the canyon creek play set for our kids. It was a long process but it’s finally done. Did it myself with some instructional guidance from my wife and it probably took 25 hours over the course of 5 weeks.

Work, life, etc got in the way but the BILT app is so helpful and the steps are not very extensive. Not many tools are truly needed to get this done. I used my power screwdriver/drill the entire time it felt like.

3 swing system is great for young toddlers who struggle with sharing swing time.

Love this set. It took 1. 5 days for my husband and my dad to put this together but turned out nice. You can probably even customize it a bit if you want. The slide is pretty steep and kids can gain some speed coming down.

It is perfect for a 3-4 year old—not too short and not too long, not too steep but steep enough. The set has just enough bells and whistles to keep both younger kids and older kids entertained. We’ll have to see how well it lasts through time.

We just got it so it has not had a chance to be rained on or bake in the Southern California sun to prove its durability.

This is much more like a 2,000 piece puzzle than something you assemble quickly. Don’t expect to have your kids playing on it the same day. I’m an engineer, and it took me a full day to assemble. The instructions were good, but the manufacturing was often imprecise and many holes had to be re-drilled.

The hardware is made of a cheap weak metal that cross-threads or breaks easily. I used far more tools than the instructions said I would need. I sometimes had the feeling that the designers never built one themselves, because many elements could have been simplified and improved at the same time.

It would be significantly more sturdy and a little less expensive if they had used long pieces of wood instead of 3′ lengths stuck together with bolts. They probably wanted to avoid a long box and sacrificed strength as a result.

However, it’s made for little ones and in general they’ll probably grow out of it before they cause any serious damage. I would not buy this again, but it’s done and I suppose it’s good enough.

Worth the amount paid! Purchased for a little under $300. Good structure and quality pieces. I did have one hole that was incorrectly drilled, but that was easy enough to fix. The kids love it! Says build time takes 4 to 8 hours with two people.

Took me 10 hours by myself. I am very handy and build a lot of things by myself. This is for younger kids, as stated the swing bar has a maximum weight of 100lbs. I would say by 7 or 8 they may be too big for it.

Lots of other reviewers have correctly addressed this play set’s quality. It’s real wood (light wood, but real) and the hardware isn’t so cheap that I’m left concerned it’s going to corrode after two seasons and fall down.

My main beef with the thing was the packaging and setup instructions. My wife, father-in-law, and I got it done in about 10 hours total, but that could EASILY have been 6 or 7 hours if we didn’t have to spend so much time sorting through hardware.

The wood is labeled well enough. There are a lot of pieces, so at first you’ll spend a little time searching for the right one, but as the pile thins, that becomes easier. But the hardware? I thought it was a joke! The hardware (of which there is a ton) comes in three boxes.

There are easily several hundred pieces, including all the bolts, nuts, screws, washers, lock washers, t-nuts, and screws – and apart from a few things that were pre-bagged, it was all just LOOSE HARDWARE.

Then, adding insult to injury, the labels for the hardware in the instructions don’t match the printing on the hardware itself. You’re forced to actually measure the bolts to make sure you’re getting the right size.

And it’s not like there were 10 four-inch bolts and 20 eight-inch bolts. There’s at least 8 sizes, many of which differ from each other by only a quarter or half of an inch. Toward the end of the build, we were left with two bolts of slightly different sizes, one of which was too small for its intended application, resulting in a hardware store run.

End of the world? No, but so completely preventable. At that point in the process, there was no way of knowing if we’d not received the right number of bolts or if we’d used one incorrectly six hours before.

Asking the buyer to sort through all the carriage and hex bolts on their own to inventory what they received against the packing list is burdensome and silly. With a few extra labels and plastic bags, Gorilla could make this a lot easier.

But no, they just dump all the metal parts in a couple of boxes and say good luck. All in all a good set, but either count all 500 pieces before you begin or have a hardware store in mind to hit up when you find out you’re missing one critical part.

We have had our Gorilla play set for almost 10 years. It has been through one move and has has been restrained once. It still looks great and is holding up quite well. I have had to replace the awning cover twice over the years.

A tree fell on one and ripped it and the second one just wore out. Our two younger kids still use it when the weather allows and now our oldest brings his daughter over and she also plays on it. I have friends with small kids and have seen the play sets they have.

I feel as though, Gorilla has a better product. The lumber used is beefier than most others on the market. Their are play sets that are even stronger than Gorilla, but their is quite a price difference.

Money aside, Gorilla has a great product that, with a little care, will last for quite a few years. Thank you for what you do and keep up the good work!!.

Purchased through Gorilla, was shipped in a timely manner. However delivery was not satisfactory, was delivered in a semi-truck and required several people to move all the boxes inside the truck due to heavy items already in the truck from another delivery.

The product itself is overall lacking in my opinion given it’s price point. The wood is easily cracked, multiple boards w/ mild cracking now after use. Concerned about the long term durability. the tube slide option is fun for the kids, however the slide is very thin and installation was difficult given the plastic was warped and not well constructed.

My kids do love this set, however, quality is fairly low in my opinion, had a previous set from tree frogs and they had a much better product.

There are several issues with this product! I will go down the list because for 800 and something dollars this should be better quality than what is offered. The first thing I would gripe about is the first thing you have to do which would be to lay everything out! I started by laying the wood out by what was supposed to be marked with a letter/number.

When I tell you I had to guess on some because you couldn’t read the stamp that was either smudged, or half on board. The next thing I done was had seen all the screws,nuts, and bolts. For this price either they should have been attached with tape to the piece of wood possible in bundles, or even put in the tray packaging with the punch out label on the back.

Was over 30 bags of items and made a dang mess once opened in trying to stay organized. The third thing is the quality of this wood. Did I expect top notch wood, I did not but for this price this was awful.

I could literally bend the wood piece myself while holding each end. I thought to myself by this point to send back but thought we’ll just wait and see you bought it, you have tore open the boxes, not let’s just try.

I had my father come help me that owned business in construction for over 20 years. When I say this he was so mad at quality as every time you put a screw/bolt in this piece of wood it would split. I mean even the pre drilled holes provided you would put bolt the through and tighten slowly to prevent splitting.

Almost everyone it would end up split. Again I’m not expecting grade a lumber but this is absolutely unacceptable for this price. The whole package has been a nightmare and feel bad as this was bought for great summer activity and yet it is this pile of crap.

I am requesting a box that is big enough to store this crap in and will gladly send this back. I do not want a replacement as the quality is not worth anymore of my time, and I will have to invest in different activity for my kids.

I will tell people to save their money because I am so upset that I saved for this, and this is what I got!.

We bought this for our 2 year old grandson. While he’s a bit on the young side for it, he immediately loved climbing (with some assistance) up the ladder to the fort. He was hesitant to try the slide as it was higher and longer than he was used to, but once he did, we couldn’t keep him off! This set will grow with him for several years.

We had a professional assemble it for us and are glad we did. It took him a full day plus and he had all the tools we didn’t. Some of the wood seems soft and a few boards split. I was very pleased that customer service promptly sent replacements.

One thing I would recommend is that the wood gets painted or stained before construction. We realized it would need some type of weather protection and stained it after it was built. Not the easiest of projects but we managed.

I would definitely suggest doing that before building – just don’t cover the letter and number on each piece or that will be another headache!.

We bought this last month after looking at several sets. My kids are a little older so we wanted a bigger set for them. After one of the sales associates greatly misquoted how much it was for delivery/set up (he said it was between $100-200 but was $600 just for set up), we did it ourselves.

Let me just say my daughter can play on this every day for the rest of her life and this still wouldn’t be worth it. Several of the pieces did not have pre-drilled holes where they should and several more had holes that didn’t line up.

What might have been the worst, is the small section of siding where the clock goes was all cut too big for that area. We double checked the structure and everything else was correct so all the siding was the problem.

What should have been a 10 minute step turned into 2 hours because we had to sand down both sides of each piece until it fit. Maybe we just got a unit that had lots of problems but putting this thing together was awful.

Would not recommend.

Just finished putting this together and it is a wonderful swingset. Our daughter has wanted to play on it every day so far. It is a decent time investment to put together and seal yourself (a week of solid work around a full time job).

Helpful to have a couple people to help hold things. A couple of notes/modifications for anyone interested – (1) our swingset did not ship anywhere near the initial time listed on the product page. Once you buy it they note that it can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks to ship and ours took closer to the 4 weeks mark vs.

the 7-10 days. (2) Ours came with three green flags and one yellow flag instead of the two green and two yellow flags shown. Not a big deal to us but others may care. (3) We couldn’t really tell from the instructions where the third set of handles were supposed to go.

So we put them on the outside of the opening near the rock wall. Now having looked at the photos online closer there are two sets on the skyloft (just in case anyone else has trouble picking that out).

(4) Our daughter is younger and not quite ready for the skyloft yet – so we moved the tic-tac-toe board down to the main loft across from the slide. The railing “spindles” are not the same length between the skyloft and the main loft so we took extra roof boards (from the sky loft add) and cut them to size.

(5) Again since our daughter is younger we removed a couple of boards on the rock climbing wall and spaced out the rest so it could also be used like a ladder (for very small feet). This makes it easier for our daughter (who doesn’t quite grasp the concept of rock-climbing yet) to use.

I ordered a play set several months ago when It was delivered the delivery service dropped it at the curbside which is not only downhill but is almost 300 fee away from my house so I actually had to carry all the boxes up the hill into my house which took several hours and a lot of effort.

This was just the first part of a very frustrating process. Afterwards I had to set up a date to get the installation of the play-set in my backyard for which I had to wait a couple weeks. The installation itself went somewhat smoothly and the tech that tried to put it together was a very nice gentleman.

Unfortunately several pieces were missing from the play-set. The playset stands incomplete in my backyard. I heard from the tech at optimum installs that he is going to reach out to the company to get the missing pieces and that he will return to install those.

But so far the whole experience have been far from smooth and I don’t think I would recommend any of my friends to buy a gorilla place-set. The material itself is great and I can definitely see it’s very high-quality and at least the pieces that were put together look very nice and have provided some fun to my family but the process itself has been very frustrating and it goes without saying that as of now my swingset is still incomplete and I have not heard about when it will be completed and when will the technician will be returning with the missing pieces to put it all together.

After a couple weeks of research, we settled on the Pioneer Peak playset with the standard roof as a birthday present for our twins who just turned 4. The product shipped and was delivered extremely quick – we ordered on 9/17 and it was delivered on 9/24.

All of the wood pieces were clearly labeled, which made it easy for my dad and I to organize everything before construction. We ended up needing to make a trip to the hardware store for a few pieces of hardware (missing 4 t-nuts and 4 bolts, which to be honest might have been included and we just misplaced them), but we had planned on needing to make at least one trip based on experience with prior playset builds.

Construction was pretty straight-forward. The assembly guide did a good job with diagrams and instructions. My dad and I are both handy and even taking our time it only took us about 20 hours to unpack, organize, and build.

I’m very pleased with the sturdiness and overall quality of the product so far. I still need to apply a sealant, but so far we haven’t experienced any wood chipping/cracking/splitting. And for what matters most – our kids (and all their friends in the neighborhood) love it! Watching their imaginations go to work playing different games, swinging for hours on end, having fun with their friends – my wife and I are very happy with the purchase.

I’ll start by saying my grandchildren love their new swing set – so mission accomplished. That said, the 5 hour installation time woefully underestimates the challenges of DIY installation. Of note, my husband builds furniture, so he knows his way around tools and woodworking.

The 69 pages of directions were certainly detailed. Unfortunately the same detail was not noted in the alignment or depth of pre drilled holes. We also needed to request a missing bolt which delayed assembly.

Bottom line – it may be wiser to pay for someone to complete the installation.

Backyard Discovery is very enjoyable to work with. Their play set is good quality and the color is accurate. We have a 5 and 3 year old and both can plan on this playset independently. Our 5 year old will outgrow the swing soon or he’ll just have to not swing his highest.

But right now it’s great and the height of the stairs is what we wanted for safe independent play in the backyard. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them as a reliable quality company.

GoConfigure also was great for assembly. Trustworthy and did a good job.

I was very excited to get the Ainsley Outdoor Playset but to tell you it is easy to put together is surely an understatement. This set is really hard to put together but, I thought it was great for my grandson.

“This box is only 140 lbs, but 7’ in length, 9. 5” thick, but less than 2’ wide. When you have a swing set crossbeam and upright posts involved, it’s just going to be hard to get around that 7’+ length box.

You will honestly be surprised a whole swing set fits into such a compact box, but you’ll probably see that there’s a tradeoff for that fast convenience. ” My son has been trying for days to put it together but he is a truck driver and it will take at the very least two people to put this set together; not to mention we have been having nothing but rain lately and we look and looks like the next 5 days is rain every day.

I know you will want to have a solid ground when installing and for it to be dry. This is the perfect kids set to have with Spring and Summer approaching quickly and school out. The kids can play until their hearts are content.

Many of the pieces of wood came split but not sure how so they had to be replaced. Overall this is a great set for your little ones to have in the backyard and not have to worry about the safety of letting them play at a park or playground.

This is a perfect and safe way to monitor your little ones. Also, it should be known that this is not for larger kids I would say more so for the smaller ones maybe 3-7 years old depending on weight which is maxed at 110 lbs.

I recommend this set to try but be ready for the task at hand putting it together it did not seem like all that was in the compact box but it did weight in at over 140 lbs so you may want to get professionals to install it for you, provided you provided the weather is clear and sunny.

With spring fast approaching, we have been looking for a new outdoor playset for our girls, as their old wooden one has seen better days, and didn’t stand up to the past few winters like we hoped it would.

After asking friends and family for recommendations on the best brand and playset for our growing girls, we kept hearing parents rave about the Ainsley Outdoor playset. After looking online at the Ainsley Outdoor playset and showing my husband and girls, we decided to go with this one, to update our old playset. I couldn’t believe how the whole playset came in a long, yet small boxes.

All the wood, which already came pre-cut, pre-drilled and pre-stained was included, along with easy to follow instructions, and all the necessary pieces — 2 belt swings with rope, rock wall with climbing rocks, multi-colored canopy, and even the wave slide.

With our last playset we had to buy the slide separate, and that alone was over $100. I really like how this playset is made out of 100% premium cedar lumber. You can tell that this will last a long time and not be weathered or worn down by New England seasons and harsh winters.

This past weekend we put up the playset — it only took an afternoon. And, once up, the girls went to town playing on it and having a blast. They had their friends from the neighborhood over to swing, play in the sandbox, have secret meeting under the canopy clubhouse area, complete with chalkboard.

I kept having to call them in the past two days when it was time to eat and get ready for bed, as they wanted to stay out and enjoy their new Ainsely outdoor playset a little longer. They are really loving it, and I know it will get a lot of use and play for years to come.

Great once put together. My husband and I did it in two days but only because he is great at figuring things out. Better directions or better drawing examples would be helpful. Also we had several pieces of wood with cracks.

Only one bad enough that my husband had to fix for use. Many pieces of the cedar are peeling which is concerning with kids climbing, etc. we will sand and put some kind of sealer on the entire playset which will hopefully prevent splinters Aside from what I have mentioned the playset has been a huge hit with our six and three year old grandchildren.

Overall I’m very pleased with the product itself, to save money for this purchase I chose to put it together myself. Let me start with the delivery. the entire set was delivered on two extra long wooden pallets with some items being wrapped in shrink wrap.

the entire shipment arrived very beat up making me think that there were many pieces of wood broken. after going through the boxes it was discovered that all of the wooden pieces were in good condition.

Now as for the green plastic slides they were scratched in numerous places where they not protected very well. Now the instructions tell you to inspect everything giving you not much time to make the decision to refuse the shipment so I was under a lot of pressure from the onset.

the wood as a whole smelled really good and looked good except for maybe 5-6 long pieces that were twisting. the roof pieces where also an area of concern as the tongue and groove did not line up due to some bad cuts and bent boards.

The last thing I’ll mention is the directions. which arrived in a stack of papers with one staple. “c’mon”, you couldn’t put this in a binder or folder considering it will be looked at over a hundred times.

Also the matching of hardware with specific steps was really difficult. I was always wondering which hardware boxes went with each steps as the hardware in some boxes ran dry forcing me to use hardware from another box.

“EXTREMELY CONFUSING” As a whole everything went well mostly because I’m very detailed, but I do which the product came with a one time starter sealant kit so that I have the recommended product right away.

I really hope this play-set lasts with all the “TLC” I’ll be required to give it every year. “But it’s for my kids”.

So, I finished building this swingset this weeked, and ultimately it is pretty awesome. The directions could use a lot of work to be more clear and more useful. I am a Mechanical Engineer, and two of my engineering buddies came over to help me build this, and at several points we were very confused.

-1 star for unclear directions. Also, -1 star for the holes that connect the slide halves did not line up. They were not ever close, I had to re-drill them all. Also, -1 star for specifying a 5/16″ thru hole for a 5/16″ bolt.

All the carriage bolts had to be pounded through with great difficulty. I finally just started drilling the holes up another size to prevent the struggle. This kit is pretty pricey, and I expected better than the issues above.

I would recommend it to a friend, with the above caveats.

I decided to replace our traditional metal tube swing set with a more durable product. My wife and I are glad that we did this for our children. Having the slide come with the set was AWESOME! Our yard is a little narrow (due to our garage in the backyard), but with this set being custom, I was able to modify the design to accommodate the yard space.

The instructions were easy to understand and I had no issues. Needless to say, our children (6 years old, 4 years old, and 9 months) are thrilled to have a new swing set. and they got a kick helping me out putting it together too.

It took one day to put this together, and I recommend to have one other adult with you to help stabilize some pieces as they are being screwed together. I recommend this product 100%, you will be happy!.

Bought it for my 5 year old daughter. I’m putting it together now by myself. I’m on day 2. Id say im 1/2 way done. Instructions aren’t overly complicated. For a handy person it’s not a problem. If you’ve ever put together furniture from ikea, or put up a fence, you’d be able to pull ot off.

A second person helps but I haven’t run into anything yet I cant do by myself. The wood isn’t the best. Most pieces seem thin but I have some scrap 2×4’s that I’m planning to reinforce with. The delivery was on time and they brought the boxes to my backyard for me.

The boxes were in rough shape but I haven’t run into any missing parts. yet. and I was assured any missing pieces would be sent over quickly so we’ll see. Assembly was offered but for $500, it’s worth the work.

If your competent and own tools, it’s no problem, just time consuming. Assuming their are no catastrophes, this is my only review. If anything goes wrong, I’ll be back.

I am giving this five stars based on how the set met my expectations for the price I paid. My husband and I assembled this working most of a Saturday and a couple of hours three days over the next week.

A large portion of our time was spent checking the supply list and sorting by letters. I recommend spending the time to do this. We were able to go right to whatever we needed. The instructions are pretty good.

if you have experience in assembling things in the past. If this is your first go round, you may find it slightly more difficult and find yourself having to redo some parts as you go. Maybe not, just my opinion.

I actually enjoy these types of projects. like a puzzle. We order this so our older child could enjoy the set with our younger. She is almost 11 and he is almost 6. They have loved it since day one. They use it almost daily.

I love the safety of the stairs. The hammock is a big hit with both kiddos, but only one at a time should use it. Now. Is this a set that will last for 20 years with everyday rough play? Nope. Did we have some pieces nick and split as we were assembling? Yep! But nothing that would be noticeable or cause concern about safety.

It is solid. The anchors are a pain, but worth the trouble. It is not as solid as the sets that are $5000 and up, but it certainly meets our needs and we are very happy with the quality for the price we paid.

I would recommend to a friend and I would buy again.

The playground itself is absolutely amazing! Keep in mind, it’s super heavy and it took one guy 22 hours to put together. We had some pieces that came cracked and the company was charging $50 for shipping which upset me (it obviously happened in shipping and I had nothing to do with it) so our handyman glued them together, but you can obviously still tell.

If you are picky, just keep in mind that chances of you receiving a perfect shipment are very slim. The wood tho is very good quality and the kids are loving it. My husband and I both fit in it as well, which we absolutely love to get in there and play with them.

I purchased this for my grand babies Christmas present. They absolutely love it! – ages 4 and 1. I checked pricing on professional install and it was going to be $900 so my husband and I decided we could do it (i knew he could do it but I wasn’t sure how much help I could be).

the manual (104 pages) said that 2 men could put it together in 18 hours. It took us approximately 30 hours. It was a time consuming step by step process. I don’t think more hands would have helped. The company did an excellent job packing the materials precisely in 4 large boxes.

Each box had an inventory sheet with the contents of the box. All of the pieces were labeled with a letter and number. We didn’t take time to sort all of the pieces to start with as we knew that could take several hours.

We would look at each step in the manual and then look at the box inventory sheets and start looking. We were able to have two drills running at the same time especially on the platform deck areas. So would I assemble another one? No way! I would pay the $900 and be done.

However, the kids love it and I hope they will always remember that PaPa and BeBe put it together for them!.

This set is absolutely gorgeous and clearly high quality. My son (will be three in a month) is thrilled about “having a playground” in our yard and never wants to stop playing on it. We bought the bucket seat accessory so he can take advantage of the swings.

We had to wait a month and half for it to be delivered because of the COVID pandemic. So happy they were able to still manufacture the set and ship out. Don’t be intimidated. if you are somewhat handy, you can build this thing.

The instructions were impeccable and made it such an easy step by step process. Yes, it will take a while, but you’re kids will be infatuated by the set, and you will be proud of turning those boxes into a masterpiece.

You will definitely need a power drill WITH A CLUTCH and an attachment for your sockets. This things seems like it will last forever.

Took us about 20 hours to build with two adults. So, we had it up pretty easily over an evening and weekend. The first four hours may have just been laying out all of the pieces. The digital directions were super easy to follow.

A second battery powered drill definitely helped. I have a 2 and 4 year old. The little one makes me nervous how quickly she climbs and launches herself down the slide, but they both love the playground.

It’s been over 6 months being built, and they want to play on it almost everyday after school. I think the little café is their favorite part; we bought some cheap plastic foods off Amazon for outside.

Out of thousands of pieces, it was missing two little bolts. Their customer support was nice and had us replacement parts in about three days.

The Shenandoah playground is a nice structure with a 10 foot slide (in my opinion, I wouldn’t get an 8 foot slide. my grandsons 5 and 2 use the 10 foot with no problem. ) The only feature I don’t like with the Shenandoah is the seating area.

It does not appear to be sturdy, and I think there should be a center support. I paid to have the structure put together, and unfortunately, they have to return to level it better and to fix a few issues with the installation.

Rebar anchors were ordered since it is presently not anchored down. Overall, I am happy with Backyard Discovery. I also purchased the Woodland a few years back which I like a little better. There are 3 seats on this structure as opposed to the bench seat on the Shenandoah.

Just beware the installation. We put the Woodland together – 2 men took about 10 hours, and it was well anchored, level, and I eventually stained it. Now I hope that when the installers return, they can fix the Shenandoah for us.

I recommend Backyard Discovery and their products overall.

The swing set was easy to assemble and the pieces were well labelled. Some of the pieces were warped, and a few had cracks. We followed the assembly instructions to a T, and yet some of our boards still cracked during assembly.

I will be contacting backyard discovery for replacement boards. It is quite sturdy although it does shift when two of the kids are on two of the swings and swinging simultaneously. My daughter absolutely loves it.

My wife and I have wanted to purchase this playset for over a year because of the great reviews and high customer satisfaction ratings. We purchased the product in March of 2020, arriving the next month.

Initially, I was impressed with the quality of the product however, to my dismay, I soon realized there was an issue. The instructions did not precisely match the product provided, from hardware, planking, and major safety features.

It was a NIGHTMARE to put together and took easily twice as long because we had to guess, through trial and error, where each item went and what hardware to use. The instructions are incredibly precise as to what piece matches what, giving specifications of each piece and hardware to be used.

Unfortunately, Gorilla Playsets must have altered the product provided due to upgrades over time or structural issues where they provided completely different pieces – predrilled in different areas, completely different hardware, and safety items without changing and updating the instructions.

Example, often the instructions called for the use of lag bolts in areas when the actual product provided was only predrilled for wood screws and the items provided did not match the instructions. I nearly went insane, searching for items that were not there, and did not match the descriptions in the instructions.

Assembly took over twice as long as it should have and I had to drill holes were there were no holes provided while ignoring predrilled holes on items where it was clear that Gorilla Playsets changed items and hardware previously provided.

The end result was still a great product, but due to the absolute nightmare of assembly, I cannot fully recommend this product. I was so discouraged during the first few hours of assembly, I would have returned the product if I could have.

My wife was equally disappointed with the instructions mishap and would have done the same.

We just purchased the Nantucket Swing Set and paid extra for the installation. It arrived right on time and the installation company worked with us to quickly find a time to assemble it. The crew completed assembly in about 3 hours and our 3 year old couldn’t wait to try it out.

We purchased a toddler swing to use with the swing set and it has become the favorite along with the rock wall and the swing. While not the biggest swing set out there, it is worth it for the affordable price and all of the bells and whistles it come with.

It has plenty of space for what we need plus a few friends!.

We got this play set for our kids (5 and almost 2) this spring and may have already recouped the value of it. They play on it as much as we allow. The addition of the baby swing was well worth it for our toddler as well.

It’s nice to have something else entertaining the kids instead of us! Before I started building it I inventoried all the pieces and wasn’t missing anything. I’m fairly handy but I’m thorough and had about 20 hours into the project.

It goes together pretty smoothly, but make sure you take the time to get it level and plumb before you start to save you a headache later. I’d also recommend putting ground cloth down under the sandbox when you’re in the early stages of building.

it’s a lot harder to get under once the building is finished.

We bought a Gorilla playset through a third party and it turned out disastrous where our credit card company had to go after the third party to return our money after 8 months. I decided to go directly through Gorilla, and our playset showed up a week later.

The wood quality was fantastic, directions were easy to follow. My ONLY complaint is the bags and boxes of hardware have no rhyme or reason. There will be 10 of something you need in one bag, and the other 2 in another.

Just requires more double checking you have the right hardware. I built this exclusively by myself as a 110 lb mother. It wasn’t the easiest, but it wasn’t terrible either. As an engineer, it definitely has my stamp of approval for people of all expertise levels and ages to help build.

I am incredibly happy with our purchase.
