20 Best Wood For Sub Box (2023 Updated)

This is the second time buying this enclosure. The first time I used a 10″ Alpine R but the mounting holes were too close to the enclosure hole so it was leaking air. This time I got a sub with larger mounting diameter a Pioneer 250SPL and it sounds great just like it sounded before the air started leaking on the first box.

Only thing is the soldered wires are I think only 16 gauge and 5/8 MDF so it can only take so much of a bearing before box flex which decreases output. I would not run more than 1000wrms in this box.

It sounds GREAT around 500-800 wrms. Would buy again but my car is out of space.

Was a little smaller than I expected but that’s not on you guys that’s in me for not grabbing a tape measure and figuring size. But overall amazing box and great quality!

Amazing box that is exactly as advertised. Definitely would buy again the sound and quality of the materials is unbeatable.

The quality is great for the application that it is being used for. Have (2) Precision Power PowerClass subs in these. 2.1 cu. ft. of air space and is built great. Bought two.

I have to LMFAO at all those bad reviews bet they never realized 3 weeks. At lest before you go n turn up amp. Today is Aug 19. 3 weeks ago I bought n installed (DIY). My amp n remote were both turned to 2 gain will EVERYTHING ELSE was set 0.

Yes at first could not hear it. But in long run worth it. By 5th day at 2 gain was raddling my mirrors. I only got one these bad boys. Due to out stock. I cant even fathom 2 these. Guys going. BTW I still havent messed with amp or any settings.

Pounder on that for awhile.

A few Christmas’ in the past I had purchased the very compact DYI speaker system for my brother PE sells. I was wholly impressed with them. I thought “What could I do on a budget of 100 bucks?” At first , even to attempt to locate small speaker boxes for an affordable price was ridiculous.

I should have know to look at PE. Between the two of us we own at least 5 speakers sets from PE of varying kinds and love them all. I purchased the boxes and 3 1/2 8 Ohm 60 watt drivers and 3 1/2″ passive drivers, banana terminals, Chrome spikes and some filling.

I have yet to break them in. I am currently listening to various music. Initially I had my sub-woofer on. I turned it off. I am REALLY impressed. These are my new computer speakers replacing my Daytons in the background.

SO, I have found that if you spend tens of hours on a reference type, perfect flat frequency mathematically correct, highly thought out medium to large speakers you’ve spent an untold amount of thought on— he response from the laymen (and this is not heir fault) will inevitably be: “Oh these are beautiful!” Because they don’t understand the work that goes into anything beyond the actual construction.

Most people are just fine with a battery powered Bluetooth speaker with two 3″ full range drivers in it. They don’t even know how good their favorite songs can sound. So start them small. Get these little guys and pick a tweeter and good mid-range that can reach a little lower than the rest, design the proper crossover and assemble a small pair of amazing desktops.

INCLUDE THE PROPER AMP. People not only appreciate something you made yourself more than some Bed Bath and Beyond towels. Be impressive with the finish so they’re cool to look at. I’m not saying you should try this, but I got “impressive finish” by utilizing a friend who does body work on cars.

I got him to paint these little cabinets with candy apple red car paint finish. Thy looked like no other speakers for sale in the world. And sounded better than any speaker that small. I won Christmas, hands down.

The only problem is, now I get requests. I’ve built “beginner” (8″) sub-woofers in the ensuing years, larger “bookshelf” type pairs (twice) and this year, I am already working on a pair of MTM towers.

I have found that I am totally addicted to building speakers. but there are only so many rooms in my house for my creations. Once I put hidden speakers inside the bathroom vanity that played rainstorm sounds when a motion detector “sees” someone enter the room, my wife called a moratorium on sound in every room.

“If I find an active sound system in a closet, I am calling a lawyer. ” (We have a sick sense of humor) The point is, these little guys can turn into a million useful projects. You can power them with small amps and make them computer speakers.

You can hook them up to a bedroom TV for way superior sound. Want some garage speakers? Perfect. Kitchen counter? Basement workshop? All the places floor towers would be a little much, these little guys are perfect.

And if you’re feeling ambitions, use them as rear speakers in a surround. Or put a total of four in a room for some pseudo quadraphonic experience. Great beginner stuff here that won’t break the bank.

If you royally screw these up. it’s not like you burned $1500. Any amount of money wasted sucks, but it’s a whole lot better to learn on an inexpensive idea than on some grand 7. 1 multi thousand dollar idea you may not be completely ready for.

Awesome construction, sealed very well, small foot print. There are absolutely no drawbacks to these small 6×9 speaker boxes except for the fact that some may be timid to have to run wires to the terminals on the back from the inside which is very simple with a pair of pliers and hot glue to hold it all down if you don’t like soldering.

Highly recommend if you’re okay with running 2 wires from your speaker to the inside terminals in the box!.

Decided to replace two thirty year old wood enclosures while restoring a classic sports car interior to black. These enclosures looked like they would match, but the low price almost scared me away. Glad I decided I didn’t have much to lose at $20.

In simple words: I love it!!! Price is unbeatable, well constructed. Only issue I found is that it’s a little bit higher than the measurement posted on the listing, but still looks and fits perfectly on my setup.

Perfect for small cars like mine with little space to put 12s on the trunk. Also very well packed and came extremely fast!.

Fits perfect behind Tacomas, on rear seat or in floor. No play to move arround. Quality built….. For the price you can’t buy 1 piece of wood to get started for $40. Run children n get a few.

Very well built box i know 1st hand my neighbor had 1 for 2 10’s they sounded low low low so i had to grab this 1 for 2 12’s! Now you got to buy some good quality SUBS or the 32hz tuning won’t do you any good meaning dont buy no $50-$60 dollar subs get sum good subs that can handle at least 1000 watts rms D.

v. C. 4 or 2 ohm DVC subs and get to beating the vicinity up when you ride thru,,,,.

If your looking for clear hard hits more then reverberating bass then this box will provide. I have one in my truck and am replacing a “horn” style qbomb in my car with this bad MFR. So I know what’s good and would only buy this prefab, handles 2 American bass xfl 12s daily in my truck.

It looks good and feels good and solid. Bedlined outside is tuff. Im going to re seal inside seams a little better and bedline inside. I think its great prefab box for the price. It would cost about the price I paid plus time effort and lots of skills to build one similar.

It fits my car very well, be sure to double check your measurements mine was a squeeze. Il’l give it a 9 out of 10.

Man wat a difference with my Alpine S-SB10V dual subs. Excellent low end without distortion. Midrange frequency are crisp and not screeching. Complete cleanup my bass distortion issues. I highly recommend this box.

This box is compact and works great with my American bass subs. They hit hard in this box and do not distort. Very impressed.

Very well made sub woofer enclosure. The coating is awesome and adds a nice bit of protection. Had to increase the hole diameter due to my subs being a bit larger diameter. Overall I am very pleased with it and it fits perfectly in my 05 F150.

Used an impact driver for mounting holes because my drill battery was completely dead. Impact drill bit handled the pilot holes just fine, then I nervously used an impact bit adapter for the screws. Thankfully no splits and everything worked fine.

Port/vent is good. Box is sturdy enough. Cannot beat this quality at the sub-$50 price. Would recommend for anyone using a 15″ with 1000w RMS or less, but I wouldn’t use it if I had an expensive beast (build your own with bracing if that’s the case).

In my rear hatch it takes up less space with the vent and subwoofer firing upward that firing to the rear. I had planned on rear firing it, but it works and sounds well firing up regardless, so I’ll take the extra inch or two of hatch space.

I have an RP. 800 pushing 1 SDR 18″ in the prefab box. Sounds great for the money. Can’t wait to break it in so I can really enjoy it. Seriously though, the SDR subs are pretty amazing for the value.

Burst sounds great as well. It’s a good option for value and as starter system. I only have a factory 60amp alternator and 660CCA battery. I’m using a 4 channel amp on my mids and highs. At idle I’ll start to see fading headlights when the 18″ goes in.

Driving I’m pretty good. I’m on the edge for alternator or battery upgrades. I Just wanted to share that you can definitely get away without major upgrades. They would help out tremendously. The box was well packaged.

Protection on the corners and it arrived in perfect condition.

I upgraded from dual 8’s to the single 12″. Sound was flat and muddy. I then upgraded from a JVC to a Pioneer head unit and the difference was incredible. Clean clear crispy highs and a solid thumping bass.

The 12″ Skar performed to it’s true potential. I’m sure if I upgraded my 1200 watt amp it would sound even better yet.

I have 2 of these in stereo for my home listening system. I drive them with a Crown K2 and Behringer DCX2496 as 3-way. Highs and mids are handled by a pair of Altec 605B Duplex drivers. Current mid-high amps setup is 2 IRS2092 power amp modules.

Why stereo subs? I was amazed at the realism they provide when listening to a pipe organ or orchestra recorded in a large auditorium. You can hear the air movement, footsteps, etc. in stereo. It’s pretty awesome! Also, they can rock the house.

Made very well and sturdy with true spec. high quality wood. Nice gold plated terminals and the inside is truly lined with poly-fli, glued securely, solidly sealed with no leaks. Does have a logo screwed to the front which at first I didnt like but has grown on me.

I have attached my sub. amp to the back of the box and has held up very well. I trust in the build and plan on attaching another small amp to the top of the box as well. Fit almost perfect for a 12 Pioneer Champion sub (I suggest lining the front and inside wall with gasket tape for a more sung fit).

I un-screwed the speaker terminals and put a little gasket tape around it to seal it better to the box. Highly recommend this box. Feels like you could drop it and would still hold up.

Great sealed enclosure, and the poly lining is a nice touch. No leaks. The carpet is darker (blacker?) than most automotive-grey boxes. Didnt strip any screws during install. The nameplate (on the front! theyre really proud of it) is a little obnoxious and attaches with small screws, which may create a leak, so I took the plate off and put the screws back in their holes.

Terminal binding posts are what youd expect and were tight. Overall just what youd expect for a carpeted, sealed enclosure at a great price.

i usually build my own enclosures, however this deal was too good to pass up on, especially since it was exactly the volume that i needed. buying instead of building was a huge time saver for me and i didnt have to clean saw dust off of everything in my garage.

i would not hesitate to buy another Belva enclosure again. great product ! ! !.

I am using the basswood sheet to back mosaics and then place them in a shadow box and glue them down. It’s easier to create the mosaic on a flat surface with no sides. This pic shows four mosaics, the bottom right has not been completed.

Once I complete the grouting, I can clue it into the frame.
