20 Best Wood For Speaker Box (2023 Updated)

Installed kicker 6 x 9s and the boxes made all the difference in the world, supper kicking base. Very well built, no complaining from here.

These are perfect for saving space and sound great too! Ill be buying more for other vehicle. I cant believe that a pair of big A$$ fosgate renegade 6x9s fit.

I purchased this enclosure based on the following description:Goldwood truck boxes are CNC cut using 3/4″ MDF and glued air tight, producing a strong, tight, rock-solid box. High quality black polyester carpet and audiophile-grade gold input terminals put the finishing touch on these boxes.

I noticed when I first received the enclosure that the “3/4″ MDF” is actually flimsy 5/8″ particle board. You can actually see the difference if you inspect the picture closely. The material is not as dense in the middle, while MDF is uniform throughout.

Knocking on the side of the box it sounds hollow and resonant, which again is not characteristic of 3/4″ MDF, especially in a small enclosure. The “audiophile-grade gold input terminals” are hardly worth mentioning, as the statement itself is pure hype.

I’ll just say that if gold plating actually made a difference, it would make sense to gold plate the conectors inside the box as well as outside. The inside terminal points were dull brass and nothing more, though the outside terminals were gold-plated.

Finally, the “high-quaility black polyester carpet” was indeed black polyester, but it was by no means “high-quality” or “carpet”. It was cheap felt that pulls apart easily. If you intend to actually use this box, you will need to add adequate bracing inside.

Otherwise, the walls will flex more than is reasonable once you give the sub a little power. For $22. 50, it’s a good value and I really can’t complain, but the description was far from accurate. I would be embarrassed selling a box like this at my shop.

Even plywood or OSB would have been a better material than particle board. Fortunately, this is for a friend who wants a cheap system, because that’s exactly what he’s getting.

I have looked at many boxes over the years and this is the only one that actually is fully sealed with caulk. No lie. Most skip the side where the speaker mounts on the box because most people don’t check.

I checked and was surprised that they did. Well built, carpeting is a 8 out of 10 because the seems are quite obvious but who cares!?!?! At this price I should of (and will) purchase several. I highly recommend this product.

The only way that this box could be better would be if it was screwed together. That’s it though. Most super expensive boxes aren’t even screwed together and it’s not like you are going to put a massive speaker in this box anyways so you aren’t missing anything.

Its a truck box. Fits behind the seat to my chevrolet s10 quite snugly so should fit any full size with ease. Tacomas might be a bit tighter fit.

it works fine not sure about the review saying box was particle board instead of mdf mine was mdf. I’ve been building speaker boxes since the late 80’s. this is great for the price ,you may want to consider upgrading the input terminals not a huge deal its just the box builder in me.

It works great with subs that need smaller sealed enclosures (. 06 -. 07 cu. ft). Im currently running a polk audio dxi 104 sub polk recommends a 0. 66 cu. ft enclosure this box works just fine ,takes up very little space in my tahoe and no one can believe that this little box rocks like it does.

I am disappointed with the sound quality of these speaker. I bought them to improve my tv speakers but they are just louder. Also the IR sensor becomes very irresponsive after not using the remote control for a few minutes.

It seems like the IR sensor goes to sleep and it takes a lot of pushing of the remote control buttons to wake it up. I tried using new batteries for the remote control and I don’t see any improvement.

I’ve also done several times a factory reset which helps with the problem for some minutes, but the unresponsiveness of the continues after that.

Im using these speakers as near field monitors and they are excellent additions to my office space. Definitely a bit of a smile in the curve, but these have plenty of detail and bass for my set up. While I dont think they would fill an average size room for 2 channel listening, in my small office they are sufficient.

They really stand out in the style department. The mid-century modern styling is a nice touch. Love the magnetic heather grills and the veneer is well done. Very happy with this purchase.

This is a really good product at the price I paid for it, good sound, nice cabinets, for small room this is a fine setup. Do not expect large audiophile type sound from these, but they werent designed to do that.

If you add a small subwoofer, the sound becomes a lot better. Placement is important with these speakers, tweeters have to be at ear height; without the subwoofer they have to go flat against the wall to get a fair bass response.

Overall, really nice speakers, at their price point.

I have been involved hi-fi audio since I was a teenager… I am now 74 years old and have designed and constructed dozens of “audiophile” systems. A short time ago a friend asked me to specify a near audiophile system at the lowest possible cost.

After a great deal of research I came up with a system, and then eventually purchased it for my own purposes. It is designed as a near-field desktop system. The amplifier that I have mated with it is a fossae audio BT 300 – 2 and a passive subwoofer of my own design was used for the low end.

Although I have heard audiophile systems costing five times more I have to say that the performance of the Sony course speakers is excellent! This is due to the response of the speakers particularly in the mid-to high range.

The nuances that are brought out from streaming applications such as spotify are excellent! Even at very low volumes the music is nuanced and contains information that is not usually heard on playback.

Imaging and soundstage are more than acceptable. However, if you wish to play at louder volumes you may do so. The volume is adequate for small to midsize rooms. Truly an amazing system that can be purchased for less than $400.

1st and foremost is the price. can’t beat it for what these little babies put out. I think they sound great BUT I have them crossed over at 80hz thru my Denon receiver. I never have even tried them in “full range” mode because I already know a speaker like this isn’t going to have any low end (Bass) response.

So if you want to get the best out of these speakers I encourage you to add a subwoofer to your system. I find the mids and highs of these speakers give great clarity and image. With the bass cut off by my receiver and the added subwoofer, these suckers rock out.

I got these for like 85 bucks pre tax during the holidays, which is absolutely ridiculous for how they sound. an easy recommendation for an under $200 speaker pair. I feel that they really shine at high volumes.

Audessey calibration will have them sounding superb. Decent crossover components inside the speaker enclosure, better bracing or even no-rez would have brought this speaker up another notch, but what more could we expect from a speaker at this price point??.

Great speaker for the price. Even better when on sale. My primary use has been for left and right mains in 5. 1 entry level hometheater setup. I used without a subwoofer for about a little over month and bass was surprisingly good when placed about 1ft from wall.

Pretty clear imaging as well. Crisp highs and decent mids. Once paired with a subwoofer and sony’s center speaker and properly calibrated this speaker offers impressive performance for its price. I handled reference level really well.

My speakers are approx 14ft away from viewing position. Using a denon x1700 at 80 watts per channel at 8ohm with avr set to 6 ohms for these speakers.

I was honestly surprised at the sound quality of these speakers. I always used to think that 2. 1 speakers are better than bookshelf speakers. But it seems that bookshelf speakers can be more powerful and sound cleaner than 2.

1’s, if they are made well. The Edifier R2000DB is an amazing bookshelf speaker. Period. It easily outperforms any 2. 1 speakers I know of (including Edifier XM6BT) and a few other models in the bookshelf speaker range like Edifier R1700Bt.

The audio is full range, clear & open and does not feel tinny or raspy like you’d notice on some 2. 1’s because mostly 2. 1’s have small satellite speakers and heavy bass subwoofers which drown out the highs and mids coming from the satellite speakers.

Also the bass is well filtered so it does not have the humming sound when playing vocals, so voices don’t sound like a muddy booming mess like with most budget 2. 1’s subwoofers. The R2000DB features a Class D amplifier, so overall performance is great, bass is amazingly clear & yet enough to rattle room windows and the highs are covered by the tweeters so voice and other sounds are crisp with well rounded full range audio for music or movies.

The only downside I can talk about is the size and weight of the speaker. With dimensions of W175 x H 288 x L 230 mm, it is quite big on the desk and in pictures it looks small but it is quite big and heavy.

The good side of the size is that with the polished MDF wood and premium build, it will look as good and sound great next to a computer monitor as beside the TV across the hall!.

I am not a paid reviewer / in fact I almost never post anything, much less a product review. However, I have enjoyed these speakers so much in the short period of time that I’ve had them that I wanted to share my experience.

For the money, these are hands down an excellent value. They sit in my office on my desk and throughout the day serve as admirable computer speakers (voice mail, Zoom meeting, alerts, internet, etc. ).

However, at night or over the weekend, these speakers fill that space with phenomenal sound. The bass is NOT an issue. If you disagree, by a comparable sub-woofer and scare your neighbors. Money well spent!.

Super finicky WiFi. I have tried to get it to connect to WiFi for a solid 3 days – no dice. This means no AirPlay. Bluetooth connected, but it drops out frequently from my PC and iPhone 13. Chromecasting never worked, even wired.

The sound is good, but what’s the point when it sounds like it’s skipping very few minutes on basic bluetooth? There are tons of forum posts about the buggy WiFi connection and Naim just doesn’t seem like they care enough to fix it.

There’s a lot of deflection – it’s your network’s fault and have you tried turning it off and on again? – slinging around from them. No, Naim, every other device just connects just fine, and stays connected, without having to fiddle with router settings.

Also, who had the horrible idea to put all of the inputs on the bottom of the cabinet in this weird recessed bit? You have to flip this thing over or balance it on the side to hope to even connect the power cable.

Really poor UX. The top dial looks cool when it’s powering up, but that’s about it. It also suffers pretty bad UX issues, mystery meat navigation, lack of contrast to show you what’s active/not, etc.

The app has another slew of usability issues, especially around establishing a connection. I’m sending mine back. It is effectively unusable.

I’m a great Naim fan and have the first Muso version in my kitchen, which is in constant use. I wanted to get away from the grey for my living room and went for the wood case under the tv – and was surprised just how “glossy” it was, annoyingly reflecting the tv.

Still, easily connected using the Arc port, which allows use of my tv/Sky remotes seamlessly. Generally the 2 seemed much easier to connect to my router through the App than the first edition Muso and QBs I have, although they still, frustratingly drop out from multi-room from time to time.

Brilliant to use with Spotify and internet radio – just fab. I do prefer the simplicity of the functions on the original control dials and just find the 2 dial plain confusing, preferring to use the App.

Anyway I’m still a huge fan and can hear the improvement in the sound quality with the 2. The price uplift was a bit staggering but still, I’m banking on having it for a good few years or at least until Muso 3 appears.

Seismic Audio has one of the easiest websites to navigate and use! They get 2 thumbs up for that. They get another 2 thumbs up for the quality of the speakers I purchased. They get 2 thumbs up for the deal they gave on the price!!$ and they get to thumbs up for after the sale consideration! Which means they’re generally concerned with my satisfaction! I’ve been in the music business for a long long time and I’ve heard a lot of speakers, mine are the best thanks to seismic audio.

I now have a great sounding system that can be used for home entertainment or professional gigs! Winner winner chicken dinner. :-).

I have an old pair of Fender speakers that still work, but I was looking for speakers with a little more “Ooomf” to them, especially since my old ones are 25 y/o & it’s time to upgrade. One, these SA’s are lighter in weight than my old pair.

Two, this pair of SA speakers are double the wattage they can handle than my old pair of speakers. Three, I’m thinking about getting the SA-155T’s. in order to complete my “Wall of Sound” so to speak for live DJ and/or band performances.

I pumped out some music through my 1000W Amp & DJ Mixer to see how these sound, and I am very impressed with the sound quality, plus the fact my amp was only halfway up on the A & B channels – these speakers seemed to yearn for more power.

These are nice speakers. They seem to be built very well. The size for myself, was perfect in the space where i put them. I am using these as music speakers not as dj speakers. I put them next to my led tv set and paired them with a Rockville Rxm-t2 providing 400 watts rms into each of 2 channels at 4 ohms.

I also run another Rxm-t2 to provide a bridged 1200 watts rms to an 18 inch Rockville passive subwoofer. So far these speakers have done very well up to 350 watts rms. With midrange and higher frequencies running this much power it is extremely loud.

I did notice a fairly strong bass attenuation but they’re full range so, i didn’t expect much heavy bass. I use the subwoofer to fill in the missing lower frequencies. I think for the price these are very good.

Of course i sure hope they have a long life. I would recommend these. One thing i should mention is, i have solar energy and so all my amplifiers are 12 volt units.

Great speakers at a good price. What’s irritating is the stupid bluetooth gizmo that comes with the unit. It only works if you point the gizmo directly at the speaker with the tiny, meaningless blue dot.

What’s also meaningless is the manual. They might as well not have one. It’s so badly written it doesn’t make any sense at all. And the control panel on t he gizmo is too small for my old eyes to see.

I have to get a flashlight out or shine a bright light on it because the design is that cool black-on-black style which makes it impossible to read. I got the speakers because I wanted bluetooth control.

I wanted to come home from work, grab my phone and play my favourite track. Unfortunately that has never happened. It takes half an hour of fiddling to make it work. It would be much better to have it hard-wired to phone, computer, tablet or whatever.

Then I could just come home from work, plug in my phone or tablet and hear my music. Also gotta say Best Buy was completely useless in selling the speakers. They were not prominently displayed and the demonstration playback didn’t work.

The retail guy who tried to answer my queries didn’t have any answers to my questions. I finally gave up and bought it because I could take it back.

I LOVE my new turntable and speakers. It took me a long time to decide and lots of emails back and forth to the TurntableLab. I can’t say enough good things about this company. They (James) always got back with me very quickly, answered my numerous questions and/or concerns and helped me pick out the right stereo system.

We received it yesterday, only ordered it 5 days prior so that was a very quick delivery. We set it up and it sounds amazing! Those speakers truly pack a punch for sound. WOW! We cannot get over the quality of the equipment and the sound for the price we paid.

We are extremely happy. Actually I’m the one with all the vinyl records and I have my own She Shed so to speak and this is perfect for me. I could not be happier.

These are nice little desktop speakers and a great entry-point for a turntable setup. I compared them audibly side by side to the Fluance ai61’s and these had a more-balanced and smoother sound in my opinion.

However, I noticed that when turning these speakers up past ~70%, they began to distort and “squash” the audio. I think they’re definitely worth the money, but also having said that, if you’re willing to sink in ~$200-300 more, I’d definitely jump up to the Klipsch The Fives.

similar size, but significantly better-sounding. The Fives do have a slightly ‘warmer’ sound to them, but that sound pairs so nicely with LP’s. The Kanto YU6’s sounded good on my turntable with my Sumiko Ranier cartridge, however, they didn’t have as wide and open of a sound than The Fives.

I have owned a 5 speaker B&W 600s set for a very long time, and absolutely love the sound. After all these years, decided to upgrade the front stage with the 700 series, starting with the left and right tower speakers.

After connecting and turning those on, both mine and my wife’s jaws dropped. The difference was immediately noticeable, we were fascinated. After a week decided to take the obvious next step upgrading also the center speaker with this HTM71, and wanted to have the same size 6.

5” woofers as my 600 series. Let me say that the difference in sound with this HTM71 is significant. Besides the more refined high frequencies, the base is stronger and deeper, while the midrange produces unbelievably natural voices.

The most impressive part is that the sound is projected towards the listener with a wider soundstage. In comparison, the 600 sounded like it was coming from the speaker, drawing too much attention. While I still enjoy the 600 series sound, which are now in another room and used regularly, the 700s are just more impressive and refine, with sweet never fatiguing highs.

I can easily crank the speaker higher than before to enjoy movies and music with better detail and more impact. Star Wars never sounded so full, rich and detailed. This center speaker is quite expensive, however after spending on the L+R towers, adding the center was a must.

The integration of the front stage is perfect producing a result that takes movies and music to pure bliss and enjoyment. If you’re serious about home theater take the plunge and go for it.

The Bowers and Wilkins 705 S2s were my first audiophile loudspeakers. I have the pair Bi-Amped and on the 700 series stand connected to my Marantz 7015 AV Receiver. Ive owned them now for a little over a yr and a half and all i can say is the price makes sense.

Expensive investment to the average consumer dont get me wrong, but the quality of sound, the build, the aesthetics is all just incredible. Anything i decide to do… watch a movie, show, listen to music, is always just a great time and to me that was the point! I also have the HTM71 center channel, and m1s for rears and ceiling.

Any guest who wants to listen to their favorite song, or watch the newest movie, leave with a smile, or are genuinely impressed. The crystal clear sounds on highs/midrange is just top-notch. To the point where im not as impressed with movie theaters audio anymore, it just sounds better at home.

No kidding. When you get your own pair im sure you’ll agree. Going back to the highs and midrange, if youre watching a movie, dont expect mind blowing low bass levels. If you want the best of both worlds then grab a nice subwoofer or two, or go for the Floorstanding B&Ws 702 S2s! In conclusion, the experiences have been amazing and have changed my perspective to sound! At this point I can understand an audiophiles reach for better audio equipment and speakers, and have now started truly appreciating a musical artists choice of how they master their music! Having complained about other models, I now must say these are much improved. I ordered 4 and all arrived in very good condition. The outer cartons were heavy double-wall cardboard of good quality & provide good protection.

The cabinets themselves have the advertised gold terminals, and look quite good. If you are really “in to it” you may want to coat interior surfaces with a sealer of some sort. If you are running high power, maybe add corner glue blocks.

Otherwise, these get an “A” from me.
