20 Best Wood For Shower Bench (2023 Updated)

When the cantilevered bench originally installed in our shower 20+ years ago came off the wall. We decided to try a teak bench in lieu of having the original one reinstalled. This bench is well constructed and heavy [for its size] yet it is still easy to move around.

It has a lovely medium maple color with very smooth finish [no “bum” splinters!]Assembly was very easy and although the instructions aren’t extremely detailed, they are certainly adequate. Each leg fit into it’s designated position perfectly; no tapping into place required.

All hardware [screws/washers] plus a wrench are included so there’s no need to search for that wrench you know you have. somewhere! The screws lined up perfectly with the holes and even had vinyl protectors over the threads.

something I’ve never encountered before in “some assembly required” furniture. Nice touch! The self leveling feet worked perfectly. It comes well packed and would take a team of Mountain Gorillas to do any damage to the contents during shipping.

Very reasonably priced!One note of caution, the “leveling feet” leave black marks on tile floors. I solved the problem by gluing 1″ white rubber sliders/grippers onto the bottom of the levelers , bingo no more black marks.

Well made product! Assembly was pretty easy. requiring screws with an allen wrench (all included). The plastic feet are adjustable to help with uneven flooring. I didn’t need to make any adjustments on our ceramic tile floor.

It’s nice to have a product that lives up to it’s name. Teak. Wood is solid and a beautiful color.

The teak spa bench is beautiful. The color of the wood is amazing. I purchased it for our masterbath renovation to sit outside the new, expansive rain shower and it is perfect. A bench was constructed inside the shower so this bench is for seating in the bathroom.

We loved it so much, we just purchased a second one for our secon bath remodel.

It is great. We have it in our shower and it allows us to sit down if we feel tired. it doesn’t look bulky and doesn’t show alot of metal when folded up. Definitely a bonus for our walk in shower install.

This is a very sturdy well made bench. It is comfortable to sit on and works well both I. And out of the shower. We wanted a dark stain and this was exactly the color I wanted. The finish is beautiful and so far has held up over the last couple of months, although it’s not always in the shower.

It’s gorgeous. So well made, and so easy to put together. The shelf is easier to install with two ppl but do-able for one. It’s darker than it shows in the pics – I’d call it a true espresso. It’s really simple, sturdy , and thoughtfully made – right down to the packaging and shipping materials.

Very sturdy wood, but it could have longer screws to make it more sturdy. After a while, the screws loosen and you have to tighten them. However, I purchased another brand prior to this and this brand was superior compared to the other.

I absolutely love it. I’ve needed this for some time as I have mobility issues after reverse shoulder replacement and knee replacement. I scoured the internet and stores as well. This is a perfect fit for me.

The bench is well made and comes as described. We haven’t installed it yet, so I can’t share how well it will hold up or about the installation process. It looks nice and sturdy. Ordering and shipping was very fast and easy.

Attached to the wall, secured, folds out if way when not in use. Waiting on the local professional Installer to attach it to the wall.

Hello I loved this shower stool but this past weekend I flipped it over and found live mushrooms growing underneath. It really scared me I had to throw it out i thought I was cleaning it very well but i did some research and the fungus eats the nutrients in the wood I don’t know if it’s avoidable being that it’s being used in a wet humid place.

This was purchased for an outdoor shower. The bench molded in less than a month. It is wellade and easy to assemble but does not do well in moist environments. I would not purchase again.

Okay, totally my fault because it clearly says 20”, but I was definitely expecting a larger seat. I think because of the photos with towels on it. those are definitely small wash cloths. My advice is just to actually measure out the deminsions so you know what to expect.

Still, for its size and price it’s very sturdy! My husband just had surgery and needs a place to sit to undress and place his things right outside of the shower so this will do!.

I have been pouring over the various choices and reviews for teak shower stools, and I am happy that I found this one at a good price. I did not want to pay over $200. The size is perfect for our shower, and even though our shower does slightly slope towards the drain, this stool does not wobble, because the size is small enough to set towards the back of the shower before the slope.

So far, it has done well with getting wet over and over again, and it is the perfect height for stepping on to shave. I have not sat on it, as I mainly got it for shaving, because bending over makes me dizzy (old age).

I do leave the shower door open with the bathroom fan on for about 30 minutes after showering to help ensure the stool dries out between showers. Pros: beautiful, classic, good height, good priceCons: none, except I am sure others could use adjustable knobs on bottom.

I was so excited to get this bench! We just moved and we have a shower stall and shaving has been a pain! Assembly was simple. The shelf and seat are marked on the side with the letter of the leg so that you match up the right side to the right leg.

This is a solid quality piece! It’s not wobbly or flimsy and the storage shelf is great to get all the bottles that don’t fit on the shower caddy off the floor! I hope it is true that the wood doesn’t mold.

We’ll have to wait and see but I’m so happy with it and hubby is going to love it when he sees it! Now he can sit comfortably to relax in the shower when he gets a migraine. Pros: Easy assembly, good quality, nice finish.

Using as endtables. Beautiful semi shines finish. Adjustable feet are very handy if table is partly on rug and flooring.

Purchased this bench due to durability vs bamboo; and I’m glad I went with this option, after converting our tub shower into a walk-in shower. The bench is very sturdy and requires little maintenance (as long as you’re keeping up weekly).

We mainly use it for decoration but serves a great use when shaving your legs lol. Very pleased with this purchase!.

Cute stool/bench. Easy to put together. However, the varnish was slightly chipped on two different places on the legs. Damage not substantial enough to go through the trouble of returning the bench. It will be in the master bathroom, so not many people will see or use it.

I was surprised by the damage because the bench parts were very tightly wrapped in bubble and plastic wrap. I think the damage occurred before it was wrapped and shipped. I am slightly concerned about long term use in the shower and possible water absorption through the leg.

I have not used it in the shower yet.

I bought this bench after an accident that affects my coordination and put it in a large walk in shower (12 ft x 5 ft) with two shower heads but no safety bars – too large for them to work well. It’s perfect for shower safety.

Adjustable grip pads on each foot allowed me to get it stable in the position I prefer under one of the shower head and the same settings work under the other shower head plus in the center back where I keep it so others have full access to either shower.

The slight swoop in the center is a very comfortable sit and seat slats just big enough to drain rapidly yet still be comfy for the entire shower. Grip pads stay in place even with full water on the bench.

Dimensions exact as in order info and height perfect for medium tall woman. Love it!.

Purchased recently. Will update for rust proofing after 6 months of use as well as solidity of the wood besides mold resistance. Initial view is disappointing because the hinges are quite tight.

The design was just what I was looking for and I love the teak but I was disappointed to find the “metal” bracket covers were actually plastic. They also give a bit when weight is on the seat making it feel unstable although the brackets are secure.

A perfect bench for our shower. Its sturdy and comfortable. It easily folds up and out of the way when its not needed.

Must admit, I did not buy this as a shower bench but as a small bench for the entry to our home for taking off boots and outerwear. The quality is excellent and it fits in with our Prairie/Mission style very well.

Very sturdy and well constructed, with graceful lines. Added a kilim cushion to fit on top and we love the look. The finish is surprisingly beautiful, dark brown, warm matte tones.

I love this bench. I debated back and forth about installing a tile shower bench, pull down seat, or a free-standing bench in my new shower. The teak bench won out and I couldn’t be happier. It is great to have the option to remove it, although that doesn’t happen except on cleaning days.

Do be careful if you have a glass shower door. This bench is heavy duty and when I took it out one day to clean the shower I forgot it was behind me and about tipped it right into the glass. It is heavy and I am sure it would have broken the glass.

Some of the stain did come off in the shower, but it has seemed to stop now and it never stained my white shower pan. If my shower pan was tile/grout I would have been a little more careful to make sure that it didn’t stain the grout.

It was the perfect and most reasonably priced option for a shower bench for our bathroom remodel. Pros: well made, flexible to leave in or remove from the showerCons: some of the stain bleeds off.

It certainly a nice chair and sturdy. The one thing I did not like was a note inside the box stating to wipe down the water off the chair after showering. It states it is just made of wood and the finish is teak.

It confuses you to think it’s teak but no specific wood species is noted. Teak/bamboo are Hassel free materials around a little water. I wasn’t looking for more work but will do the maintenance to keep it as nice as it looks.

Wife says it’s a good size, and it fits a walk-in shower nicely. Adjustable feet can account for variations in floor tile and slope, but of course this assumes it isn’t moved. Shelf height is not adjustable.

All in all it meets the intended purpose. Long term will be to see how long it lasts, given the wood type and finish are explicitly not supposed to stay wet; the instruction to dry it after every use is not very realistic.

This spa bench is stylish and very attractive, invoking a Zen/Japanese feeling. It is delivered pre-assembled, and is very well made. The adjustable legs made it a snap to sit level in my shower. It is not small, by any means, and is quite sturdy.

It’s a great addition to the walk-in shower as a place to sit or use while shaving. The shelf is quite handy for shampoo bottles, etc. There are a number of teak benches available, and I shopped quite a bit before settling on this one – for the price, this was the neatest looking, and the best value.

All in all, I am quite happy with this purchase.

We are remodeling our master bath- the shower is small and there was no way to put in a seat. We saw this on Wayfair and thought…wow- how much more perfect could that be. It turned out super!

This is a sturdy bench and looks great! The assembly instructions were fantastic and spot on (how many times can one say that?!) I was a bit dismayed when after only 1 use water must have pooled some and left a darkened area in the seat.

My outdoor teak furniture doesn’t do this. I’ve been waiting on a reply from the manufacturer for 3 weeks now, after he was initially very positive about helping me.

This is a beautiful piece of furniture. It is a focal point in the new master bathroom and people have commented on how lovely it looks. It’s very sturdy and can be used to boost oneself off of it quite easily for those who have mobility issues.

I absolutely love my teak shower bench! It’s extremely well made, it’s very sturdy and takes up very little space when closed. I keep mine up when not in use to store my foot stool underneath.

This product will be installed in a shower when we do a remodel of our bathroom. The remodel has not begun yet therefore I can only say that it arrived in less time than originally stated and is in very good condition.

I was looking for a seat in my shower stall that would not take up much room. This teak bench was the answer. It folds down when I don’t need it, and is sturdy, roomy, and looks “spa like” when up. It arrived in two days and is just as pictured.

I had originally purchased a shower bench from ebay and was surprised when I received it that it was so, so small. My fault, I didn’t pay enough attention to the measurements. So I used it for almost a year.

While doing so always worried that it may collapse. So I finally broke down and bought myself this bench and am so happy I did. It is very sturdy, so no more worries about my bench collapsing while I’m using it in the shower.

Got it for when I shave and do my foot scrub in the shower. Safe sitting than trying to do it while standing in the shower. It also, has a shelf on the bottom, which is great for extra storage in my shower.

I’m a gal so I have a lot of items I use in the shower, that don’t all fit on the 2 shelves my contractor installed, he’s a guy so he just didn’t understand why those wouldn’t be enough for me.

This teak shower bench is better than I expected. I’m old and was able to assemble by myself. The tolerances of the joints that must be fit together are quite right, so patience is required. But it wasn’t an obstacle that can’t be overcome.

It’s a good thing that it fits together so tightly because it makes it very secure, stable and sturdy. It also prevents water from going into the joints. It is not a large bench, but it fits into my low and narrow bathtub perfectly.

The width for sitting and the height for my legs are great for me. I measured myself before purchasing it. It is exactly what I needed. If you are a medium or small person, you should be very confident that it will work for you.

I purchased this 33″ teak shower bench from EcoDecor for a client. It was received on-time, packaged well with no damage. First thing I noticed was the print on the side of the box clearly stating the bench was 29″, the box size was 33″ and NOT the bench.

The actual bench dimension was just shy of 30″. Despite this discrepancy, the bench is absolutely beautiful! The teak has amazing variations in color, the seat is smooth, it was easy to assemble, and is very sturdy.

Overall, I am very pleased with this product even though it is a little small for my large shower.

Outstanding quality for the price. Very solid, thick teak. Compares well (and complements well!) with my teak furniture from Ballard Designs. Finish was excellent. Highly recommend. I’m using as a side table to Ballard outdoor teak chaise lounges.

Well Made, solid, and nicely designed shower bench. . Straight forward assembly, took very little time, and it looks fantastic in our remodeled bathroom. Very happy with this purchase.

Great looking, heavy and solidly made, love that the wood is sustainably sourced. BUT – its impossible to assemble with the 10c hex wrench supplied. You will need a 4mm ball-end hex wrench. I had one so, not a problem, but for folks who are not tool savvy, a major problem.

Did these people never try to assemble their own product? Even with a ball-end wrench its not super easy – they really need to angle the access rout so you can get to the bolt head more easily.

Easiest installation! Note get a ceramic tile bit that you keep wet while drilling. Love the new seat, saves room in the shower.

The way it is assembled does not allow the top three boards to be screwed in place so it’s hard to make sure the same spacing as the seat boards stays in place. Seems very sturdy otherwise but you need to make sure there is solid blocking behind the wall first.

Toggle bolts won’t be strong enough to hold heavy weight.

Very happy with this purchase. We have yet to install in shower that is being tiled, but we want to say that this is of high quality and design. It will not disappoint. This chair will be more comfortable than sitting on cold marble or granite.
