20 Best Wood For River Table (2023 Updated)

Moved to NY and needed some more space to hang my many clothes. Got a random quirky idea to use some pipes that matched the color scheme I was going for to accent the room and create some storage. Clearly overestimated my interior design skills and underestimated my wall space/size of clothing but for the function I chose these honestly work very well! My only critiques would be that when opening the packaging these are like actual pipes that could be used for industrial purposes I think because they were fairly oily and upon grabbing them my hands looked like I was a mechanic.

They’re also WAY heavier than I thought which isn’t a bad thing and I think you’re meant to drill them into a stud. They do come with giant drywall plugs so that’s helpful if you’re not bob the builder like myself.

Plus as in the pictures it can support the weight of that much denim on dry wall so that speaks volumes!.

This table would be great, had it not arrived dinged up. Got a replacement table and that was dinged up too. We opted for the one that wouldn’t cause slivers for our customers. Aside from that, the table is great.

Very sturdy. We use it as a 4 person table for people playing video games.

Seems very high quality! Definitely solid wood. It has a rustic style applied to it which I wish was more subdued but overall I am happy with the table top. I attached it to hairpin legs and since it was real wood it’s solid and the legs were easy to install!.

This table looks great with the walnut finish which I like most. But is has a sharp live edge, it was a dent in a week with a metal chair. Finally, my husband got a router and made it more round and refinishedI don’t recommend this product if you need to put up the chair on table to clean floor or have a metal chair.

I loved this wood slab. It was perfect for my friend’s rustic adventure wedding. Perfect size to hold our cake.

Very sturdy tabletop that is a good size for 4 adults. Walnut finish is attractive. Only complaint is that the live edge is very subtle, not like a live edge slab.

Love these table tops. I will some day replace all my tables with these. Very heavy and made well. Color is a little darker than picture but not much

I just have it 3 stars because it didnt look how I expected – more polished with rounded edges. I expected it to be a bit more raw looking with squarer edges.

So I got one of the 30 inchers to make an XL cribbage board using the rockler pattern. It’s a great width, and the natural edge isn’t in bad shape at all. I’m a Forester, so from looking at the live edge I can say they treated this log *very* gently.

I found one scuff from a processor head on the live edge, but that’s it, and it took about ten seconds to fix using a spoke shave. The piece is definitely not a #1 or #2. there’s a fair amount of sweep and knot spots on the second face that would easily throw it out of my sawtimber specifications.

But that’s dimensional. For the purpose of making an excellent end table or cribbage board, this board will do the job. There’s one face with two defects, and a nick from the saw on another edge. simple to clean up the perimeter and flip the board over to the clean edge.

I used some 2:1 mineral oil: beeswax salve I cook up to finish it.

I purchased the River City table and bench in May 2020. In doing my research, I knew to expect the hour glass shaped notches on my table. Personally, I didn’t have an issue with the notches because once we put the placemats on the table, you can’t see them anyways.

I absolutely love this table and bench ! ! ! It’s solid and sturdy. It is plenty big and we have had several dinners (following CDC guidelines) and we have no issues with not having enough room for seating.

I must say that this is a very large table which was exactly what I was looking for. so you should make sure that your space will be large enough to house the table, bench and/or chairs. I would definitely purchase this table and bench again.

I am loving my new dining table now that it is finally put together! It looks beautiful in my dining room and provides all of the table surface that I wanted. The wrought iron bottom is sturdy and has the contrast in texture I was looking for.

My only complaint is more about the fact that when the delivery drivers came to set up my table, the warehouse did not pack all of the hardware needed with the table and I had to wait 2 additional weeks for them to ship out the missing parts and for the team to come back out and put the table together for me.

I was without a dining room table the entire time. I thought products were supposed to be double-checked for accuracy before leaving the warehouse?.

We just got our delivery yesterday and love it so much I had to do a review right away! It looks even better than I remember when we ordered it in-store a month or so ago. Absolutely beautiful table.

Love the finish, it’s almost like a satin finish, not glossy or rough. We went with the Blair Parson chairs instead of the ones that go with this set because we already have the Blair Parson Bar Stools so now our kitchen and dining room furniture coordinate and complement each other.

It really elevated our dining room and we think it just looks so sophisticated. We are thrilled!.

A great value with perfect S4S milling and ready for glue-up without having to plane the edges. If you are a novice with minimal woodworking tools, the factory-drilled Kreg-screw holes require only the heavy-duty Kreg screws and a #3 square drive screwdriver (a #3 bit for your impact driver works better than a hand-held screwdriver, given the hardness of maple wood), The manufacturer recommends adjusting the alignment of the two pieces as each screw is driven: I found it easier to use biscuits to align the edges.

After the glue set, I used a card scraper followed by a bit of sanding too produce edges that were flat and nearly invisible. Criticisms? The boards came with some minor dents and dings and, because the Kreg-screw holes are factory drilled, you cannot choose the face you wish to be the finished surface.

Unique and utilitarian in style and function! My friends who have seen this latest addition to my kitchen were at first intrigued as to it’s functionality and the comfort of the stools that I purchased along with the table.

It was fun to see then work with the height change mechanism of the table! Because of the type of space I have for this table all agreed it was the perfect fit and style! I would suggest that you ask the delivery folks to add some felt pads to the legs if it looks like the legs may mark your kitchen flooring.

This table is unique and beautiful. It adjusts from dining table height to pub table height. Be advised, however, there is no locking apparatus so the tabletop spins freely. I was aware of this before I purchased the table so it is not a problem for me.

I am using it in my living room as a side table. I love it!.

We are great wooden jigsaw puzzles fanatics, and have discovered that doing them while standing around a high top table, especially one that rotates, is fabulous! And when not doing a puzzle (on a puzzle board that sits on the table), it is the perfect place, perched on a bar stool, to drink your morning coffee and watch the sunrise over the ocean.

We bought this to go in the dining room of our new home. We were looking for something in a modern farmhouse style & this looks perfect in our dining room. The wood is beautiful. The table & bench are very sturdy & the best part is all 4 grandkids can sit on the bench.

The chairs are the perfect addition to the set. My only negative would be that the fabrics on the chairs were wrinkled & I had to gently press each one.

As a woodworker myself i appreciate the way this table is constructed, a metal inlay underneath holds across the grain to discourage end checking, the top bolts to the river city foundry forged frame with oversized holes to allow expansion.

Expect (but dont count on) a bow-tie or two in the top near the ends, these are a neat feature meant to help hold the ends together. Our first top did not have one, and also had a defective finish (orange peel) on one end and no bowtie, but otherwise flawless.

The second top had a large end check, and several area’s with lifted grain on the top that catch cleaning rags, this table top has alot of character including (2) bowties. The third is scheduled to be delivered this weekend.

I expect it will be juuuuuust right. Haverties has been good about honoring their quality so far. We purchased two benches with the table, and they are actually quite comfortable. The table will comfortably sit 6 adults, 8 can sit and eat if needed without to much crowding.

My wife wanted the white chairs, i pushed for the bench. She has said multiple times they are very easy to sit on. We do not regret getting the two benches. The table is LARGE so have a large place to put it, the benches are about 12 shorter than the top, which is actually kind of nice, its easier to walk around and we have yet to bang a knee on the bench.
