20 Best Wood For Picture Frames (2023 Updated)

Disappointed. These frames had a lot of splinters and rough areas that needed to be sanded. Additionally, several of the tabs on the back of the frame were screwed on too tightly and broke off when I tried to move them.

They shouldn’t break off – you need to turn them to even get a picture into the frame. Overall, these will work for this year, but I will NOT be getting them in the future.

I used the frames for a project for my class. I have 25 students, and unfortunately, there were 5 frames where the wood pieces (on the corners) had come apart and separated, and 1 glass was completely shattered.

Thank goodness there were extras!.

This frame comes with a glass photo cover. So I recommend taking off the backing with stand and taking glass piece out and storing aside for later. Then let kids decorate and put back together when dry.

This is a quality frame that could be used with any age group. We used tacky glue mixed with green paint and attached wiggle eyes all over frame. Sorry I don’t have a picture at the moment.

These gallery-style solid wood frames are unbeatable for the price. However, the rectangular frame design is not suitable for use without a mat. The 11×14″ frame does work well with the included matte for 8×10″ photographs.

For framing items without a mat, I recommend a beveled frame, like those from Steinway (albeit much higher cost).

I waited FOREVER for these to come back in stock (I’m talking 6+ months. ) and I have to say they were worth the wait. They look wonderful in our nursery and match our decor perfectly. I couldn’t be happier that I waited.

Nice, slim design and my husband likes that he can take just one sleeve with him for the day rather than the entire box. Giving it four stars instead of five because the ink wore off quickly and we had to make our own labels for it but still a good deal.

Love this 3 open picture frame. Bought it as a gift for a family member. Placed some special memory photos in it. This frame was a big hit as a give. The frame is well made and very elegant. Looks great and the recipient of the gift loves it.

She has it hanging in her living room.

So pleased with the super fast service and the packaging of the small frame. It was a difficult size to find and the price was very reasonable. My grandson’s graduation photo fits perfectly and the black wood frame blends so nicely with the black background in the photo.

i love this frame. it is for a very old picture that i’ve had for over 50 years and the frame it was in was horrible. this frame is the perfect one for it. i would recommend it to anyone who wants a special photo framed.

If I could give no stars, I would. First, the frame is nice and you could paint or stain it BUT instead of a glass cover, they put styrene. I did not know what styrene was and the description did not specify that styrene was the front cover so I thought maybe the styrene was something to do with the frame.

When I got it and was so anxious to put my print in the frame and with it came this piece of plastic and I figured that was the front cover. So I put my print and then the styrene and my print now has this foggy look and the print looks horrible.

I was furious but they packed this like it was a museum piece so I didn’t want to return. Now I have to purchase a whole new frame and glass or just not use the styrene at all. I looked up styrene and here are the uses: packaging materials.

insulation for electrical uses (i. e. , wiring and appliances) insulation for homes and other buildings. fiberglass, plastic pipes, automobile parts. drinking cups and other “food-use” items. carpet backing NO USES LISTED FOR THE FRONT OF A FRAMED PICTURE.

Plus this comes from Overstock, but sold through WALMART.

This frame was very expensive so I was very disappointed that it was crumbling when I opened it. Their was broken pieces of wood in the box and every time I touched it more fell off. There were places on the frame where you could see big chunks had just recently fell off.

I returned it.

While from a distance this frame is *fine* it is absolute junk and certainly not worth $10 let alone the $40 paid. The frame is meh mdf with a wood grain STICKER and a plastic instead of glass insert.

The hanging kit is DIY and just ok. I wish I had had the energy to return it. Was excited about American made, but this is pure garbage.

While these were packaged well, I was disappointed to find a three-inch crack in the vinyl after carefully peeling back the protective seal. I waited for a long time for these to arrive and ended up just throwing the vinyl away and using the frame only.

If it hadn’t taken so long for them to arrive, I would have returned or exchanged.

It was the size that was described on the website and exactly what size I needed. I like the acrylic ‘glass’ as well.

This poster frame is well built with quality wood and accurate measurements. It’s light weight with the acrylic instead of glass. It’s a good value for the $$ spent.

This frame is very light (definitely not a real wood feel), which was nice since it was so large (made it easy to handle). It really looks like the product picture, which was a nice surprise. I thought the product pic was beautiful, so I was expecting less, but it’s really attractive.

I also expected it to be hard to get the screws into the frame for the wire on the back, but they went right in with my electric screwdriver! Super easy all around, and this frame is at the top of my list for future purchases.

This is a very good frame with pricing, product, timely arrival, and THE SHIPPING WAS TOP SHELF with the frame being suspended away from the edges of the box by cardboard and white strap binding. It is a cardboard backed frame with metal tabs for securing and there is room to add in a nicer backing of your own, if you wish.

There is a set of instructions with drawings that I did not need having put together many frames but with the need of others and the thoroughness of this company, well done. The wood frame and plexiglass are in very good condition with the seller protecting both sides of the plexiglass with a film.

I ordered four (4) Craig Frames Wiltshire 200. I liked the 11×14 and 11×16 Wiltshire 200 frames; however, this 13 x 19 Wiltshire 200 frame is extremely cheap. I should have read the details in the fine print for this frame; I assumed the same Wiltshire 200 model frame would be the same.

This 13 x 19 frame is 29% larger than the 11 x 16 frame, and it is priced 29% more. However, it is a much inferior product. This frame uses flimsy Acrylic instead of glass with a backing which could be cut from a cardboard box.

This is the only 13 x 19 picture frame at Walmart. com which did not describe the frame as using “UV Framer’s Acrylic” in the title at the top of the description. I’ll have to find a place for this frame in the kids’ rooms or garage; it is definitely not going in my office.

It’s pretty much what you expect, for the price. It’s a bit on the cheaper side than I expected so four stars but no one can tell with what I needed to use it for, and where I hung the frame. I wouldn’t be adverse to buying this again, needs depending.

Does not look as pictured in person. The frame looks much wider in the picture. Should have ready the measurements more carefully. Still a good frame and value.

The frame was alright. I knew it would come without real glass, which was fine, but the entire frame is so flimsy that it tends to bend supereasy which leads me to believe it might break when I go to move.

Updated the frame from my son’s kindergarten graduation – that was over 20 years ago, so it needed updating! Very nice modern frame that envelopes a special memory.

The design of the frame is intricate and rich looking. It is not your ordinary plain one dimensional picture frame.

I ordered three (3) 1-1/2 inch barnwood frames of different sizes. They fit my posters perfectly. And they were exactly what I wanted. The only reason I didn’t rate them 5 stars is because the inside cut by the image was raw wood.

not weathered. But I’ve gotten over that, I figure those recently cut edges will age too. Ordering was easy; delivery quick, and frames came well packaged. I’ve already recommended these frames to friends and family.

Unsure if I’m keeping this. The photo of the frame shows a distinctly matte finish, apart from the beads, but the frame that arrived is a reflective chrome type finish that perfectly matches the beads.

It doesn’t make sense to me for a picture frame to see slivers of yourself on the borders while looking at a photo. If I wouldn’t want distorted slivers of photos of myself put into the borders of the frame, why would I want it done through mirroring? This is the second time I’ve had this problem shopping for a frame on this website.

The description should really be more clear if they can’t use a better image.

Bought several of these and they are lovely and well made. No issues with construction of the frame, and they are not cheaply made. Happy purchase. I only wish they were available as wall mount frames.

This BBQ is exactly as pictured. I bought this because I don’t have the funds to spend on the $200 grill that I really want, but I missed the tasted of grilled food. This is perfect! the quality is great, for the money.

you just fold down the legs, the charcoal pan lowers down, and it’s ready to go! This is a great substitute, for a more expensive grill. I use it in a household of 5 adults, and it cooks plenty of food.

Remove the grill grate, and you can lay kebab or shashlik skewers across, and cook authentic Middle Eastern, Russian, European style BBQ. After I buy my fancy Weber BBQ, this will be great for camping, picnics, day at the beach, fishing, or tailgating.

for what I paid. this is an excellent deal that adds up to 5 stars.

The wood looks nice, but the acrylic is cut too small so that it doesn’t fit into the frame properly. When you go to hang the frame, the thin piece of wood bows out slightly under the weight of the rest of the frame, and the acrylic slides down enough that you can see the edge of it sticking out of the frame.

It’s not so noticeable that it’s worth returning, but I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone. The quality is very poor for the cost.

I purchased this because I thought it was solid wood, but upon closer inspection, it is particle board with paper wood veneer applied. I was able to tell when I removed the glass for cleaning and the particle board was visible in the glass channel.

I should note, the particle board is not visible once the frame is assembled. This also has a strong chemical smell as another reviewer noted. There is not enough depth behind the glass to fit a mat and a print mounted to a mat board.

This will only fit a print and a single mat.

Beautiful frame. Packaged well. Easy to open and mount artwork onto mat. Can be used horizontally or vertically. Has two triangles to hold nails. Would be difficult to get even on the wall. I used picture frame wire between the two triangles so it is easy to hang on the wall using just one nail.

The frame is complete with all that I need to mount a printed image or other similar presentation. I prefer the frames I obtain from Michael Crafts because most of their stock includes mounting hardware already attached to the frame.

The quality is what I expect to find while pricing in completive with other providers or less if during a regularly scheduled sales event.

I wanted to take a step above the typical mail-order frames (of which I’ve tried several) for a (then upcoming) December gallery display. These are several steps above ANY of those frames I’ve bought in the past.

Clean looking, deep enough for the mounted photographs, 8-ply overmat, and light. The plexiglass lights are well protected. And the unique inside supporting framework make for a solid mounted frame.

The quality was good, but had several nicks in the paint that I had to cover up myself. Also, I would have preferred a complete kit with plexi and mat.

We’d love some different color options perhaps more raw woodgrain options similar to the maple but dark or light. Other than that excellent quality!

The frame is fantastic! I love it! The only problem I had was with the male And female manager. There was a bin of pillows that had a sign that said $6. I grabbed 2 of them and then at Checkout, they did not come up on sale.

The clerk was making a new ticket when a female manager came over to see what she was doing. When she told her it wasn’t coming up on sale the manager said they were not on sale. I told her they were right over there near the entrance with a clearly marked sign for six dollars.

I walked over there with the female manager and then a male manager showed up as well. She said oh see in the fine print, it says throws. I asked her where the throws were? They both said oh they’re on the other side of the bin , which had a different sign on it for $12.

I glanced in the bin and only saw blankets. I said there are no throws in here. Then the male manager came over and dug all the way to the bottom and grabbed a throw and said oh, here’s one! The female manager then turned the six dollar sign backwards so there was no sign in the bin for the pillows.

They both then walked away and started talking about their new floor plan that they were working on And ignoring me. I guess that was it. They were done talking to me. They did not offer me anything for their bad signage.

I did not purchase the pillows. As I was walking out the door I noticed the sign was turned back around to six dollars and the pillows were still in the bin! Wow! I doubt if this is the way you want your management to run their stores.

Most of the items I looked at in the store did not have a price on it. That’s poor management. I was a retail manager at one point in my career and pricing is A very important piece of the business. I heard this store was closing in Anaheim Hills.

Now I know why if that is true. I will never go in this store again. Due to the managers and The way I was treated. ( also, I will tell at least 10 people this story, who in turn will tell 10 people and so on).

I bought it because it was marked down and I needed a frame. It’s sturdy. Matches my decor. A little difficult to load, but no more than most other frames. The tabs are sharp and hard to bend. But then they hold well.

Perfect size. Photo looks great in this frame. The frame is durable, perfect color that blends well with basically any color photo. I purchased quite a few of these frames, and I get compliments on my photos in these most desirable frames.

They came two days early. They are a great value. Very high quality and very good price. The mats are double sided ( ivory and white) and the fasteners in the back are good— not those annoying ones you need to pry apart.

Very happy with this purchase.

These picture frames (all 12 of them) went on my wall above staircase railing in a diagonal position. All white frames, white wall and white hand rail, talk about all my grandchildrens beautiful faces popping.

Constant complements.

The frames are easy to load—the mats are negligible smaller than 5”x7” allowing the mat to overlap the photo. The mat itself is textured, which grips the photo. I was pleasantly surprised to see the pieces that hold the backing in place are springy, so they appear to hold up to multiple photo rotations for those of use who change decor frequently.

No more worn-out prongs. The only (minor) thing that I think can be improved is that they had a strong wood smell. Not a big deal, since I’m sure it fades, but it was quite powerful.

Shipped very securely! I love the sturdy construction of this and the fact it’s acrylic and not glass is a plus. Still 100% transparent as glass. Less caution needed for fragility and of course stronger than a glass sheet.

The acrylic sheet comes with both sides in a protective plastic covering you peel off before use. 100% brand new, clean, and smudge free. The foam back board is excellent and sturdy. Not just a cheap white backing sheet as in most frames.

Used to frame a shirt. The pressure between the backboard and the acrylic holds it in place just fine. No glue or anything needed. Comes with its own hardware to set up yourself to hang however you please.

It was exactly the size as described. It came well packaged and shipping was fast. I did at first think it was a bit scratched up but it was only the layering on top protecting the actual frame. After removing the strip covering it was clean and clear.

Would totally recommend if you need something in this size. This was the cheapest frame I could manage to find online and I think it was worth the price.

Overpriced frame with no way to hang on a wall – the wall mounting bracket was literally taped with masking tape to the back of the frame. It’s hard to find a 6×9 frame during lock-down so I settled for this, at least it arrived intact unlike the last one I ordered which arrived with giant gouges on the front of the frame.

If you have no other choice, this will do, but $20 for something that doesn’t even have a mounting bracket is pretty unacceptable.

The frame is ok but it should be priced at $25, about half what it’s selling for. It’s very light and flimsy. The edging of the wood corners overlaps and isn’t lined up exactly. And the backing has those push down flat edge points so it’s not super high quality.

The hanger attachment is too big for the type of frame it is and the light weightiness. I could recommend it if it cost $20-25. But priced at $47 and up is much too high. I will keep it because of the size and professional framing is too expensive at the moment.

This is a good vblue for the money. Especially with the Plexiglass and backerboard included. It is very attractive. but it the a nice addition would be a non glare plastic. Please be advised this is not a frame for glass.

Great quality. I wanted something with a small but classic look that would showcase the art rather than the frame. And this was perfect! GREAT communications from this company and they also allow customization.

My packages arrived in a timely manner and looked to be packed well; however, the frame itself was in good condition but the plexiglass looked used. The plexiglass had dents and scratches on it. At first I thought I just needed to peel back the blue shield but that confirmed that the plexiglass was damaged.

I ended up returning it and buying elsewhere.

I really love these frames. I bought two of these frames. They are a little tricky to work with because of the large glass. You have to be carefull working with the sharp edges but the results are magnificent! I could not be more impressed.

I have used mine to make collages of my childrens pictures and Christian pictures. I just simply love them. Can’t say enough great things about them. They look so beautiful. By far my favorite frame now to use for any project.

Product is good. Realize that it is a floating frame so it is a bit heavier than other frames. The paper that is the picture placeholder had sticky stuff on it and it didn’t come completely clean. Not a big deal as just flipped the glass so it wouldn’t touch the picture going in.

Nice looking frame. Have to install the hanging parts on your own, but they are included.

I ordered 4 frames, 3 arrived broken — all in the corners so it was hidden until I completely opened the package. Two had clearly been broken before and glued back together. I glued them back together again, but I don’t recommend this unless you’re willing to do some work and still not have them look perfect.

Also, the edges of the glass are very sharp.
