Outstanding value. I am a woodworker. Could have bought teak and built from scratch. Would have cost about 2X plus labor. Good quality.

I bought this to add a needed handhold at a doorway on my trawler. The boat was made in Taiwan in the 80’s, and has a lot of interior teak including handrails like this one (1 loop. ) while the design is not exact, it is so close it doesn’t matter.

NOTE: To install this consistent with good practice you have to drill a deep countersink (or use a forstner) and then plug the hole with a teak plug. It would make sense for these items to come with matching plugs or bungs.

Very nice wood, smooth milled. However, there was no hardware to mount them with to a wall. Called the help line. The agent was surprised at the lack of hardware and sent in an order to get the needed hardware for our handrails sent to us.

Hope to receive them soon. I just discovered jet. com and like the variety offered.

The handrail was easy enough to put together as a 67 year old woman I had no problem with that part. However, I attempted to use the provided hardware (bolts, etc. ) but they failed to do the job. I made several trips to my local big box hardware store and finally found the solution I needed to complete installation on my stairs.

I ended up purchasing Tee Nuts 5/16 x 3/8 x 7/8 IN. The bolt fit perfectly and the bottom of this nut has teeth that was hammered into the bottom of my deck board. Note that I had to pry up my deck boards in order to do this since the hardware provided did not open and secure the bolt.

Those had to be removed by hammering those out first. If you can access the underside of your project, then I’d suggest getting the tee nuts described above. P. S. I couldn’t upload a pic since my file image was over the size limit.

But it does look super nice on my stairs.

The stair treads look great and seem well-made and (hopefully) durable. I’m pleased with the product, and with the speed of delivery (sooner than promised). The price was good as well. As a suggestion for those wrestling with options for holding them in place: I ordered one of the better reviewed rug / carpet non-slip backings and cut them to fit.

A 5×8 had more than half left over. So far, so good — I read mixed reviews on the other options for stair treads but I’m pleased with how this approach has worked.

We purchased two of these rugs (7’x9’ oval and 8’ round) in 2005 and they look as beautiful today as they did in 2005. The quality is excellent and we get a lot of compliments. We have only spot cleaned them as I don’t know if they can be professionally steam cleaned.

I purchased two of these rugs. A round one which sits perfectly under my dining table and also an oval for under my coffee table. The colors go perfectly in my room. They are a breeze to vacuum plus I don’t notice the dog hair like on my other rugs.

I needed 2 boxes of this tape to cover the 16 step edges of my deck stairs. It went on easy and stuck down tight! I used this same tape on my steps 8 yrs ago and just now had to replace it–it lasted through many snowstorms and lots of visitors here in the mountains of Colorado! Thanks for a great product!.

Tape is easy to cut, measure and stick and works well providing 1. Visual boundary for every stair and 2. Anti slip 3. and different texture for your feet to know stair end

Great grip tape! I applied a small strip of this to hard plastic. The adhesive is top notch and very secure. The rough side is nice too, grippy enough not slip against polished granite.

I love the railing. I think it gives just the right touch to the modern space I am creating. Very easy to install and the oil bronzed finished is just what I was looking for. My only negative, is that I wished it didn’t have such an obvious connector to extend rod to a certain feet—in my case 15ft.

I put these on my truck running boards and their awesome. Whenever they’d get wet from rain/snow I’ve been known to slip off and almost end up under the truck. Not now. This was a life/knee saver!

This is exactly what I hoped it would be! We’re still adding to the room w accent chairs and a console, but the rug was a huge plus! The quality is outstanding. We also got the little rug at the door so they matched.

Quality is Outstanding. Who would have thought that a clothes hamper could be a focal point in a room? Also purchased 16″ x 16″ x 30″ in same color. Have received many compliments.

We bought this to replace a flat weave southwestern wool rug. I was hesitant at first, but after reading the reviews decided to give it a try. It is very well made, reversible and excellent quality. Highly recommend it.

This handrail arrived on time and well packaged. The instructions could have been better by providing more detail but it can be figured out relatively easy. The handrail is constructed of heavy duty steel and the finish was painted well and expected to last a long time.

The masonry angle sleeves included to attach to brick or cement steps were of lower quality so if you plan to attach them to masonry, you may find better hardware sold elsewhere. The kit also comes with hardware to attach it to wood steps and that hardware seems to be of good quality.

Overall this is a good product and sold at a good price compared to other options and I fully expect it to last many years to come.

Take this tip – I broke my ankle! I used to do media reviews. I was covering an air show. Very hot day! We went up in a hot cargo plane – no problems getting in- the handrail went yo the top step. Coming down steps after a humid hot flight that made us all nauseous, that railing stopped at the step BEFORE THE LAST! I thought I was fine.

I wasn’t. My ankle went one way and me the other. That railing if it had gone to the last step, would have stopped me from crunching my ankle. Not a good way to make the evening news.

Love the color and shape. Also have an oval rug of the same color and pattern for the living area of the Great Room. Original placing was to be as a hearth rug for the wood burner but the straight edge was sewn crooked and looks odd.

Placed it front of the fridge so the weird edge is hidden. Looks good, just not the original plan. Need a strong mat under also. The polyester fabric slides on the wood floors.

I love this rug and love the fact that it was made in the USA. It’s an accent piece for me so I won’t be walking on it, but I was so delighted with how the rug felt when I opened it – not as itchy or scratchy as one my think.

It feels sturdy and very well made. It fit perfectly underneath my mantle and electric stove, also from P&H. Ordering the small one was great as now that I know the quality I’d order this rug in any size.

The colors on this carpet are vivid and true to the catalog. It did take a week or so for the carpet to flatten out under my kitchen table. We gently smoothed it out a few times and now it is just fine.

We purchased both the half round and an 8′ x 11′. Plow and Hearth has excellent service and I will continue to make purchases here.

We needed new railing but I didn’t want bulky wooden railing. When I saw this I knew it was exactly what I wanted. It looks great and compliments the house’s brick excellently. Our only concern is that it will scar more easily than our previous wrought.

The railing system was easy to assemble, feels good quality and looks good. I had a problem with a defective part, which Decks Direct replaced promptly with no quibble. One quality issue. The fit of one railing set into the brackets was too tight and required hammering to fit.

The other railing set clipped together with a light tap.

Ballistors came not all the exact same length, some where 3/16-1/4” different. Cheap plastic ballistor holders. Railing itself is nice and finish is good, but with level railing you can see the difference in ballistor lengths.

This railing system is very nice—clean install, nice finish, and very sturdy. The stair sections are poorly designed—very finicky to install with lots of ‘assemble and disassemble’ going on. Other aluminum stair section kits have swivel brackets for custom angles, however, this kit requires each rail to be angle cut—swivel brackets makes far more sense IMHO.

It would be nice if the stair sections were available in shorter lengths as well since you can’t modify the picket spacing and the offset introduces a lot of waste. All in all, the resulting look makes this railing a good option—in comparison to other railings on the market I think the detail on this railing is exceptional—but be prepared for a little more troubleshooting than your average aluminum railing kit.

I looked around for a while to fix my front porch steps and when I found this product I was happy to find it was made in Canada. I bought four pieces and they installed fine. Cutting was easy, although I was nervous because it seemed brittle, but it cut ok.

Using a fine-toothed handsaw would definitely cut down the risk of cracking. After installing the first four, I decided to install on the landing area and ordered two more. I was very disappointed to open the package and find one was cracked.

The package wasn’t damaged, so it looks to me like a quality control issue. Very frustrating! Because I have just installed the product, I can’t talk to the durability, but I’ve have heard of edges cracking, so time will tell I guess.

Although it makes me kinda nervous to glue them down if they do crack. These are installed on top of wood and replacing them would likely mean tearing apart the steps. Maybe someone can advise what’s best.

I think the product is good, but a bit on the expensive side. But support Canadian eh! I may write another, hopefully more positive review next spring and see how they fared after the winter. In the meantime I’m waiting for the replacements and hope they arrive in one piece!.

Used it as a threshold for my garden shed door. It worked really well. It was easy to cut to size using a hacksaw. The colour was the same as the picture on the website. The diamond pattern is high enough to prevent any slipping of the feet so I would definitely think it would be perfect for stairs (which is what it’s intended purpose is.

).

I was expecting something a little more “robust” for the price. These are very thin, very rigid material. Installation (with screws onto new cedar steps) was easy. Will see how they survive through a hard southern Ontario winter.

Pricey, IMO, for what you get.

This is the best mobility step I could find after much research. It’s sturdy; it’s stable; it has a high weight limit so I feel very secure. The mat is non slip. textured rubber. but not the type with the little hard, round “buttons” covering the surface.

I like to go barefoot or wear socks or slippers and the “buttons” can be pretty uncomfortable. I bought 3 types of steps to compare quality. In my opinion, this is the best choice. Besides using it to reach high shelves and curtain rods.

I use it to step down onto my patio,,and outside to step up into my Jeep. It’s light enough to pick up easily to bring into the vehicle after I’m in (I use an 18” rubber tie down with an S hook to slip into the drainage holes pick it up).

My only complaint: I wish it was about 20% larger.

I initially bought this half step riser because I had difficulty getting into our new bed and mattress and I did not realize the new bed would be about 5 inches higher than our old bed (I am 5′ tall, mobility challenged, and shrinking!).

I just purchased 2 more because we had to buy a new plow truck. We could not find a right-sized truck that I could easily get into–even with sideboards or steps. The solution: 2 more half-riser steps! One will stay in the garage and one will remain in the truck should I need to get out and back in while plowing.

My husband will rig a thin rope, looped, so I can pull it into the truck when I am back in the truck. The holes in the top make doing that extremely easy! Great design!.

I use it many times a day going in and out the sunroom to the patio. THe step is too steep for me and I needed somthimg inbetween. This is perfect. I do not even have to hold on to the grab bars now.

This is the second one I have had. It stays outside in all kinds of weather, from 96 in summer to 10 below in the snowy winter. It doesn’t move when I step on it. Perfect!! I am 81 years old and just what I needed.

This product definitely met my expectations. I like that it’s a wider surface area than other steps I’ve looked at, it’s sturdy, has non skid surface, and a decent price. It arrived a day early and I took it straight to my parents house and placed it so they could get into their house easier.

I am 100% satisfied and I think it will stand the test of time.

This product is just what the doctor ordered as a climbing step to our family car, especially for our physically challenged family member. The only thing I would add is a removable handle/grab bar so I don’t have to bend down to handle it.

I especially like the anti-slip surface. It is also easy to clean and stow away when not in use. I had bought a couple of other similar products but was not happy with results, this one just hits the mark! Not too big, not too small, lightweight and sturdy.

Very helpful device. I bought a few of these, one for my garage to kitchen, one for the bed and one for my LR to the deck. Awaiting hip replacement and these have been a Godsend. Stepping on them barefoot does hurt.

Wish they had made the top surface more comfortable. Otherwise the price was great. I got 20 percent off the second one after purchsing one.

Pretty straight forward to install these. Only thing I didn’t like is that when the aluminum baluster slides down onto the plastic cap, it shaves tiny little pieces that fan out and show at the bottom.

Nothing worth fixing, I’m sure they will eventually fall out, but I can’t help but notice them.

These connectors make balusters a breeze. Plastic seems decent (none cracked during install) and screws bite well to hold everything in place. Make sure screws drive in straight though as you can slightly tip the connector causing slight alignment issues.

The level baluster connectors look good, are easy to set in place on the wood. Connecting the balusters to the 2/4 support and to the rail can be a bit trying, but with patience can be done relatively quickly.

We did find one malformed connector and two of the screws were not usable. But overall the price, quantity and quick delivery were good.

I installed 9 packs of white Classic Round Aluminum Baluster by DecKorators. The plastic connectors worked well. The stainless steel screws break too easily, however, and I stopped using them after the second one broke off flush with the redwood rail.

I recommend using normal #9, 1and 5/8ths torx deck screws instead. Did not have a problem with the deck screws with any of the connectors even in knotty wood.

Had some storm damage on my ten year old Trex deck railing. To my surprise the color of the new matched the old. Decks Direct had the parts in stock and shipped fast. Will definitely use them again.

I purchased this material, which I ordered to expedite the completion of a project. When I opened the box it was completely shattered on one end. I could even use it. This is my first time ordering from the DIY site.

The only problem is the Canadian supplier does not sell single pieces. , Everthing is in kits so if a single part is required, the Canadian supplier does not carry it. However these are available in the US.

This is a serious supply problem. Also delery times through Home Depot are too long.

Haven’t installed it yet. Looks great. Customer service was great. Don’t think we will buy again because it wasn’t that much of a savings and if there are problems its likely it will be quite costly to return the product.

Overall on this purchase it only saved us $25 from buying it from Lowes or Home Depot. They have a very easy return policy and system. Also should we need more it will be quite expensive to send an additional few boards.

These boards do not match the others that we bought from Home Depot or Lowes. But gotta say – great customer service.

The product is way above my expectation’s. My deck is stunning. Austin Fish is very knowledgeable in making my project a successes. Very easy material to work with. You get what you pay for. I will make future purchase with Cali Bamboo.

So this was my first DIY deck and largest DIY project ever attempted. Just finished it this week and the deck truly looks better than I have even imagined. I’m proud of myself and my buddy who engineered the whole 200 sq ft floating monstrosity.

I can’t compare decking materials since I’ve only used this one, but I did shop around a lot before selecting it. In the end, I think the deck boards look great. I love that they had different patterns on each side so I could vary the pattern.

I would say the boards themselves were easy to install – so long as the frame is right below it. That’s really where all the hard work comes in – making sure that thing is even, level, and square. I needed to order extra clips than what were sent and I had to order the starter clips because I didn’t even know I needed them at first.

These extra items arrived quickly. The hidden clips make for a clean look but god help us if we ever need to get below the deck. We would pretty much have to remove every board. It does scratch more easily than I would have liked but then it is an outdoor deck and doesn’t need to be perfect.

I would definitely buy this product again.

Looks terrific! The only issue I have with them is that they are only lightly primed and not painted. Be prepared to paint them.
