20 Best Women’S Black Dress Pants (2023 Updated)

These are nice pants for work and they are very comfortable. I like the material feel, not too heavy or stiff. They are starting to pill a little where they rub between my legs, but otherwise they wash and dry well in the machine.

The cut is curvy, maybe even a little too much for me in a size 14 because there is a little room on the sides of the hips that bunches up a bit, I could maybe size down, but I like a looser fit for work.

If I wore a belt they would be perfect. The length is an ankle length if you normally wear a regular. The look is great with sandals or flats, but if you wear a regular order the longer inseam for pairing with boots as these are too short.

The colors are nice, I have black, charcoal (very dark gray/off black), and straw.

The fabric is nice and the colors are true to their name. These are American-sized pants and are accurately described in the size chart. I wish they came with blazers because it is very difficult to find women’s business attire with belt loops.

These pants have functional loops and functional pockets.

I love these pants! They fit so well and are very flattering. The length is perfect and they are roomy in the hips yet don’t gap at the waist, which is a problem I’ve had with pants from other brands.

I bought a pair several years ago and they have held up amazingly well.

I purchased these pants as an upgrade to another designers version. The finish, fit, and drape of these pants are beautiful; however after 3 wears my pants are showing stress at the inner thighs, including the stretch material fibers peeking through the fabric.

I’m quite disappointed as I always buy high quality pants and have never had this happen. I so enjoyed the fit and look of these I thought to purchase other colors as a wardrobe staple. Very disappointed.

I have been absolutely delighted with all my purchases from Nic +Zoe so far (6) However, I am not so happy with these pants. They are in all fairness as beautifully made as the rest of the items I have received, however the fabric seems very stiff and scratchy, so I am not sure if I would have kept them even if they were described correctly.

I ordered two sizes, paying two separate shipping charges, of course; only to find that when I received them they are actually very narrow in the ankle area. They are not by any stretch of the imagination Boot-cut as stated.

So I now have to return them. Returning an item is always a huge inconvenience, and I just wish I didn’t have to. I was so looking forward to receiving these.

I really like the fit of these. I did have them lengthened a bit, but I’m tall (5’8”). They are straight and fitted enough to be trendy, but still professional for work. Unfortunately, they fell apart after a couple months.

I washed them on delicate and hung dry, but the seams at both the waist and hem at the ankle have come apart. And I only work a couple days a week, so they didn’t even get a lot of wear! Not even weekly.

Disappointing.

I like them a lot. The quality of material feels good. If the pockets were deeper I would give 5 stars. I would definitely order more if I need them. I was also pleased with Boscov’s service both online and in-store.

I like these casual pants for their fabric and their fit. However I was disappointed that when U washed them, prior to wearing them, one of the belt loops tore loose and left a small hole where it had been attached.

I fixed it, and it will probably never show, but was nonetheless disappointing.

Finally, women’s dress pants that fit! I have muscular quads and always have issues with pants that are cut too slim in the thigh. These work for me. Glad there are tall sizes too. Very happy!

What a great price point for such a well tailored pair of dress slacks! They fit me perfectly, true to size, and I really like the fabric. I purchased WHITE and they are fully lined, which I find necessary in white slacks (other than jeans!).

For dress wear. Pants were way too long for average length. Waist was too small for a 14. Seat too baggy. Not well proportioned. Returned both pair.

They fit great and I love the fact that even though I have bought at least 20 other pairs of other brands, these are the ones that I have kept and still wear. I have been retired for 18 years, so I have used worn them from Sept.

These are the best. They have real pockets! They are listed as dry clean only, but I wash mine regularly with no problem. The only problem with washing them is that the button has a coating, something like a piece of foil.

That did not survive washing. (The button is fine, but the foil coating came off. ) They fit well, never wrinkle, have usable pockets, and are very comfortable. What more could I ask?.

Very nice and very light on your legs. I am petite. I had to buy this in the normal ladies size. This is because there are no professional clothing in size petite in the Dillard store. I am hemming them, very easy to do with the nice material.

My biggest problem with buying a pant suit came to fruition when buying these slacks. The black doesn’t match the jacket and neither does the material so the look is completely off if you intend on buying the I.

I love these pants. I can wash them and put them in the dryer and they feel like new. I have pets at home and don’t have good luck with black pants. These the hair didn’t cling to like other materials I’ve purchased.

I only gave 4 stars because I think they are too long. I don’t know how to figure out how to order them an inch shorter so I’m mentioning it in this review. Better too long than to short though.

I LOVE these slacks! I wear them to work. They are comfortable, easy to take care of, but after a few years they fade! Imagine that! I would LOVE to have another pair of Brown ones. It has been so long since they were available? But I am still wearing them!.

I ordered 4 identical pair of slacks in different colors. Two of them were perfect, but one apparently had been mismarked and one was of a totally different and very flimsy material. So, the average of my experience regrettably has to be 3 stars, even though half of the order was perfect.

i could not find dress pants to fit like my older pair that were too big since I lost weight. i took a chance on these because we couldn’t try on yet due to Covid. I was very pleased when they fit perfect.

i should have bought average length because when I sit down they go above my ankles but over all I am satisfied with them.

These pants medium weight, easy-care, and flatter my figure. They fit perfectly–I didn’t even have to shorten them. I hope Boscov’s will continue to carry them.

These are lovely, elegant evening pants. Very nicely made, good quality material. My only regret is that Alex Evenings doesn’t offer a “Women’s Petite” size for us shorter plus-sized women. As a result, the “rise” on these Plus-size pants was too deep for 5’3″ me; the length was also much too long.

(Note: The pants run true to size for a woman at least 5’6″. ) However, these elegant pants were just too good to pass up. so I kept them and sent them off to a dressmaker for expert alterations to a shorter Plus body.

Now they’re perfect for a shorter woman than they were originally sized for! Because these pants are SO well made, my rating of 4 rather than 5 reflects only my frustration at Alex Evenings’ not offering a Petite in its Plus sizes as they do in Regular size.

I ordered this in XL. Depending on the pants I typically wear either a Large or XL. I also recently purchased a chiffon skirt by Alex Evenings in a Large and it fits. These XL chiffon pants were lovely, but the fit was horrible – too tight through the hips and abdomen.

I tried to order them in 1XL through the store after trying on a 1XL in black but we learned these are not available in 1XL in the ivory color. Too bad. I had to return them. The pants I did purchase, also by Alex Evenings, were purchased in size XL and they fit fine.

No consistency with the sizing from this company.

Well made and elegant – just what I was looking for, except that they were too big. The waist was loose (even with the elastic) and they are very high waisted. I had to hike the waist up over my navel and the crotch was still a bit low.

The length was perfect for a any height heel or even flats if you have longer legs. I wish they came in an x-small, but sadly they don’t.

These are beautiful, dressy pants. They are described like the millennium denim pants, but they are cut smaller. I look forward to losing a little weight and wearing them.

I loved the look of these pants and wish I could have kept them. I am usually a size 5/7 in most jeans and the size small in these pants were huge! Wish they came in an XS to try.

I sent the pants back. I wanted to like them but they just did not fit me well at all. I ordered a few different sizes: 12 Extra Tall, 14 Extra Tall and 12 Tall. None fit my body type well. I am 5’11” and have a 36” inseam so I have a shorter torso and the pants bunched up in the crotch area, it felt tight in the area like it wasn’t enough room.

It felt like when companies make a pant for “regular” height person and just lengthened the legs. They also didn’t have much of a stretch to the material and I like having stretch. So not for me but good luck to everyone else.

One good thing was that they were very long.

I can never find dress pants long enough. I’m 5”11 and usually a size large. I bought the size 12 and they fit perfectly and they were even a tad to long I had to get them tailored about an inch but I did not mind at all because they fit perfect! As tall people you know long is way better then having short pants.

And not to mention they are great quality! Worth it !.

Fits well in all the right places. Perfect length, super cute. I just wish I bought more when the office wear sale was going on. Looking forward to trying the other cut soon too. Side note: Even though these are straight leg, they seemed like a bootcut with a little flare, doesn’t change my opinion on these.

I got the right size, but the pants didn’t fit. I have other Anne Klein pants that fit in this size and I expected the sizing to be consistent. I returned these and won’t order them again. The sizing should be the same among Anne Klein products.

I bought the grey pants first. Great lightweight pants. It’s hard to find light grey so I was very happy. I liked these so much, I bought the black, too. Pants are bootcut. Still a little long. It does not take away from a 5 star rating.

I’m 5’7 so usually don’t have to worry with regular sized pants but these are insanely long. The bottoms drag on the ground & I step on them often. I pretty much have to make sure it’s a nice dry day when I wear them because if it’s raining or wet outside, it’s game over when they get wet.

Not crazy about the material but I will say that they are at least comfy and fit well.

These pants are AMAZING! If I had tried on 20 pairs of pants at a store, I wouldn’t have found a pair that fit as well as these. They fit my thighs and butt (curvy) but are perfect at the waist (slim) and the length is perfect (tall).

Bonus: sat in the dryer for 2 days and not even a wrinkle.

Pants that came were labeled curvy fit. Not in the description when I bought them. Looked like clown pants on me. Sent them back. Bummer.

The picture looks like the pants may be boot cut. Theyre more of a wide leg fit. Im curvy so I always need something thats roomy in the hips but still fitted for a feminine look. And I have thin legs.

These pants fit really wide throughout.

I Love Alfani pieces and these pants did not disappoint. Perfect fit with a little extra room as with most Alfani items. Easy to clean, quality fabric stays wrinkle free, dress up well with blouse and pumps for court and pair up perfect with a tee and sandals for casual! Travel well!!!.

FashionNova used to be my favorite online boutique, but now I absolutely dread shopping here! Give me my damn refund! I ordered them on November 13th! It’s the 28th. They claimed to have “forwarded” my package before it arrived at the destination.

Forwarded where? I have not a damn clue. This place sucks and the clothes are thin. They only make clothes for skinny people but tell plus sized models they look good in them so they can make sales! Manipulative company.

Okay so I can’t say enough good things about these pants. I’m fairly tall (a little over 5’8”) so buying pants online is always a gamble for me, they’re usually not long enough. Also, I’ve purchased quite a few pairs of pants from FN in the past and the sizing varies sooooo much on all of them it’s slightly ridiculous.

So needless to say, I was a little weary of whether or not these would fit me. I am a true 30” waist and 42” hips. With these pants, go precisely with your measurements. FN says a 30” waist is a large, so that is what I ordered and they fit like a GLOVE.

The medium would have fit as well because they have a stretch to them but the large fit perfectly and they’re more than long enough for these long legs. Going to order in more colors!.

I love the look of these pants and shape they create. Very professional but the fit and sizing is very different from the seasonless trousers, ponte pants, and jeans I’ve worn for years from WHBM. I am consistently a 2 petite or 2 short depending upon the waist to hip ratio of WHBM pants.

Everything was off in these pants for me in a size 2. It took 4 different orders for me to find my correct size. I honestly feel bad for the associates at my local boutique since I have multiple pairs I ordered that didn’t fit that I’ll be returning.

The 2 petite was too tight (too uncomfortable to wear all day to work) through the waist and a little more snug through my thighs than I like for work. The 2 short looked awkward. The waist was way too big which caused the hip area to ride up.

I finally tried a 4 petite. These fit perfectly. I ended up ordering both the lunar and sergeant color. The sergeant color is a nice deep olive green color; they looked more brown online but I like the color in person better.

If boutiques carried both petites and shorts, it wouldn’t have been so difficult to find my correct size. For reference, I’m 5’3”, 125lb, and a pear shape with muscular hips and thighs.

This is a great pair of pants, great color and fabric, BUT WHBM has done something with their sizing this last year or so and they run VERY small. I’ve been shopping WHBM for years buying my size for their jeans and other prior pants and they’ve been a good fit.

This last year, I’ve ordered several pairs of pants – the comfort stretch dress pants – in the same size both petite and non-petite short length, and every time the waist and hips are cut much too small.

Unfortunately, the curvy cut is too big. I’ve had to return all of them. Very disappointed. Order a size up if you get these. WHBM – please review your sizing. I’ve talked to associates in store and they affirmed other customers are having the same issues.

I love this pair of pants. I ended up ordering them in two additional colors: Lavender and Mint. I bought the entire outside just as they appear on the website. I bought the same shell reversible top with these pants and they paired gloriously.

The only thing I would mention is this, the color does not appear as it does in this picture. I imagine the lighting for the models is different then that we experience every day. The are a little closer to sea green or teal.

They still match the shirt perfectly tucked in or out. The detailing in the shells is the same color and the stripes at the bottom of the shirt (in this photo you can’t see it because it’s tucked in) is the same color as the pants.

I want to buy these shoes, too!.

Trying to find pants that actually fit my lower half but also fit my waist correctly is a neverending struggle for me. These were close but not perfect. I ended up going with a Large based on the reviews people left.

I probably could have gotten Medium, but I noticed someone my size say that it was too snug and they wanted more drape. So I sized up. I’m 5’5″, ~148lb, 35C bust, 27. 5″ waist and 40″ hips. I’m 29% body fat, most of it in my lower half (hip/thigh area.

) You can see from the photos that the waistband is too big on me. But I’m worried if I got a medium, the waistband would fit ok but then the rest of the pants would be too tight/snug like in the thigh area.

I guess I could always get medium in the future to try but I really wanted these to drape. I tried adding a belt too (not pictured) and it was just really awkward. The fabric was bunched up like crazy at the waist.

I decided to keep them anyway because they are the perfect length for me and if I wear long enough polo shirt, it’ll hide the too large waistband area. I’m planning to wear them to work tomorrow, so I’ll have to see what they look like with a polo.

I might be able to make some alterations to the waistband but I also don’t want to spend hours of my time seam ripping a waist band. The search for perfect pants continues.

These run small and long. I am 5’ 3’ about 129 lbs. Had to take to get hemmed to make one inch shorter. I usually am a size 4, or a small or extra small in regular length pants. I returned the regular smalls I originally ordered and got these in petite medium.

The regular small caused rolls on the backs of my thighs-ugh. Rise in the petite medium is not much different than the rise in the regular small, if you happen to straddle the fence fit-wise between petite and regular.

Waist is a bit loose, but luckily doesn’t gap. Flattens the stomach just enough. I wish these tapered less around the knees, but certainly that’s not a deal breaker. Overall, nice comfy pant that can be worn for work if needed.

I purchased the XS. The fabric is okay. While it feels durable, it also feels very synthetic. Sizing is tricky for me since I have a large waist for my size and tend to have a straight shape rather than curved.

Everything fit well except the waist which was tight. I decided to keep them and stretch out the waistline a bit. I could have exchanged for the S but decided to work with the XS. Normally I wear XS /S, 4 ft 11, 34-28-35.

All my other purchases from Quince have been XS, which is why I went ahead with XS. The sizing chart measurements do not really correlate with my dimensions.

I am usually a 12 in trousers but sized up to a 14 after reading previous reviews. First of all I’m happy that they fit my thick thighs and hips. The only problem with sizing up is that the waist bags at the back but nothing that s belt can’t fix.

They are tight but not like squeezing your legs when you sit down tight. A bit of excess material around the crotch but better than being too tight there! They have some stretch which makes them comfortable.

If you usually have trouble finding trousers that are stylish and fit; choose these!.

Have had a lot of wear of these trousers since I bought them. I like the fit and they look smart with a blazer or a more casual jacket. I found the belt a bit flimsy but I have a broader navy leather belt which I prefer.

Nice feel and nice fit. Fits well on leg and waist . Very pleased with this product.

Quality and price

Cute little pants. Can be dressed up or down. Fabric is a little weird, but that’s the only negative thing I really have to say about them. I am a pear shape, but also have a good amount of muscle tone, so I have trouble finding pants like this that flatter my body and don’t make me look wider and frumpy.

These fit great. There is not a ton of coverage and structure in the stomach area if you are concerned about that. I think they are great for work or casual wear, pretty comfy!.

I am a Piazza Sempione Audrey pant junky! I love the fit and slim look. I do elect to have the roomy legs altered but find the fit around the waist and at the rise comfy and flattering. In the last 20 years I must have purchased ang enjoyed thirty pairs.

How could I not recommend this pant, a worthwhile investment!.

The Best! Comfortable- wears beautifully, dry clean ease, travels easily. Have purchased for years – black, charcoal and Navy – a wardrobe basic for put together out and about, add flats and blazer -perfect for work, or heels and a lovely sweater for dinner out!
