I would give this unit 5 stars, except for the lack of LEDs on the front panel to monitor the status of the soundbar (read below). The sound is excellent for what I’m using it for. I didn’t want to run a bunch of wire and hang satellite speakers for my 5.

1 rear L-R speakers, so I’m using this soundbar for my rear L-R channels. It sits under the TV and incredibly fills in the gap between the front L-R main speakers. The dispersion is excellent — exactly what Bose is famous for.

(NOTE: This unit is amplified, so do not shoot hot amplified audio from your amp’s speaker outputs unless you can pad it down! My Onkyo surround tuner lets me set each output as low as -14dB, which is perfect for not over-driving the input of the Bose.

) I use the analogue AUX input jack to feed in the speaker-out signal from the amp. The “dialogue” setting really does clarify speech in shows & movies where there is a lot of background EFX or music going on.

Mids & highs are crystal clear — no sibilance. Now, about those cheesy LED’s. This unit only has 2 LED’s on the front to let you know what mode you’re in, etc. The LED’s change color, blink in various ways, stay solid, etc.

, for each function. I had to download the complete manual and keep the page for the LED Mode Table handy to keep track of what I was setting up. For $279, Dr. Bose should have added a few more (inexpensive) LED’s to the front panel.

This was a real design flaw. Simplicity is fine if it doesn’t make things complicated. Lastly, when in auto power-down mode, it takes about 2 hours to power off when there is no signal present — kinda silly.

10 minutes makes more sense. I do not use this unit with any outboard sub-woofer, as my Boston Acoustic mains give all the thump we need. If you are using this (as intended) strictly for a TV speaker, you may want to add a small sub-woofer.

You can easily connect one with a patch cord, via the 1/8″ sub-out jack on the back. The price of this unit is way too much, but I paid it because it’s Bose and it was the best sounding bar in this size range with an analogue input.

The Bose – TV Speaker Bluetooth Soundbar works for our needs as expected. This is our second Soundbar, as we already have one in the living room. We placed this new unit in our bedroom. We initially purchased this after hearing the sound quality at my parents house.

We were sold! Pros Our current flatscreen tv’s have uneven sound and in certain streaming apps the commercials are significantly louder than the movie or tv show we are watching. This Soundbar has an amazingly even transition of sound from commercial to streaming program so we do not have to mute and unmute every commercial break and on Hulu it was a pain to do so.

We also had an issue with inconsistencies in the transition between the bass and speech, but once we hooked up the new Bose TV Speaker that issue went away. We can clearly hear the actors even the soft spoken moments as well as great bass during action scenes.

CONS I will begin by saying if you are looking for a movie theater experience in your house with surround sound quality this will probably not be for you. This is a Soundbar and does not come with extra speakers to surround your seating area, however, I think they do have options for add on’s or Soundbars that do come with extra speaker set ups.

The only con I can think of would be something I feel like most people would get frustrated with when setting up their speaker. With our first speaker we hooked it up to our TCL android TV and we jumped through hoops to find the correct setup selection to initiate the connection.

I am pretty sure this was a TV issue not a Soundbar issue. On our Roku Tv the only issue we had connecting was making sure we had the correct HDMI ARC cord. They provide a different cord (Optical) but if you want an HDMI connection you have to purchase a cord specifically for the ARC connection.

We tried two different HDMI cords before it worked. The Optical connection works but if I am correct it does not allow for the Soundbar to be controlled by your remote. If you are having problems connecting your Soundbar to your TV I would suggest troubleshooting through the instruction pamphlet or look up your specific TV instruction pamphlet or on YouTube.

After you find it you will realize it was the easiest solution. We live in a top unit apartment so we are happy with our new Soundbar. The bass is loud enough but not too loud to disturb our neighbors below.

We highly recommend!.

I just looked to see if by some miracle the $224 I spent on this extremely dysfunctional lousy BOSE ( supPOSED to be a great name in speakers), speaker, was still returnable. I got it last March, so too late.

Too bad because now I realize just what a ripoff this is. I’ve been disappointed with it from the beginning, and wish I had returned it then. Now that I got a speaker that’s 100 times nicer, and larger as well, for less than 1/3 the price, way more functional in every way and with way more features and sound that is truly GREAT…am angry I am stuck with this useless INFERIOR hard to use, mediocre sounding speaker.

It literally doesn’t work along with my amazing beloved Sharp Aquos Quattron Smart TV WHATSOEVER! I tried it with HDMI and went back to its own optical cord. Doesn’t matter, both don’t help the non-function.

Here is why… For TV, I have to press repeatedly to finally get some volume, then if I switch channels, it BOOMS up in volume unexpectedly, and I have to desperately press repeatedly again to lower it.

Once that’s done, next time I change channels the sound goes down to NOTHING, and have to raise it again! Whatever function you last press, it magnifies or decreases by many decibels. It doesn’t respond at all with my cable/tv remote at all! While it appears to be on, I’m only listening to my tv built in sound because it’s too much bother to get it to work, and the wild increasing and decreasing volumes that have a mind of their own, make it impossible to deal with.

I can’t afford to get carpal tunnel pressing the hard to press remote buttons and the stupid coin battery will be a pain to replace too. The remote barely is useable, and choice of function is limited to increase/decrease of bass, no listening modes like my new one.

This offers nothing for a high price. Nothing but a name it’s living on, undeservedly. The only time it sounds decent is when I play music over the Bluetooth from my nearby iMac. That of course sometimes takes awhile to get the music to actually start playing, although my iMac shows it is connected, and I see the indicator on the speaker, which is only a tiny light that turns green white or blue.

So I see it turn white, yet it’ll not play music until I raise and lower the volume through my iMac. Then it blinks sometimes until pressed back to green for tv, which I can’t use due to crazy up and down volumes when changing channels.

HORRIBLE! Oh how I now wish I never bought this sound bar, it should be called a SUB-PAR instead. Bowmaker blows this away with working and multiple features for a fraction. Do not be fooled by the Bose name.

They should be ashamed. Wish I knew in March what I learned today. I hope this helps you avoid disappointment as I’ve had. Bose, shame on you!.

Newer tv’s don’t have the quality sound they used to and many tv shows and movies now have constant music that makes hearing dialogue difficult. This product solves that problem very well. And, if you’re like my mom, who hears ok but sometimes has difficulty understanding so keeps turning up the volume, this will do the trick.

You can set this next to you, turn down the tv volume and turn up the speaker volume and not blast out the rest of the house. It’s not a replacement for the sound bar quality, so if you’re thinking of that to get that stereo sound, this is not a great substitute.

But, it does what it advertises. When mom’s not here, we steal it and put it on our main tv for those maddening shows where you can’t hear what the heck they’re saying! Love it.

I was really amazed at this soundbox!! I suffer from profound hearing loss where watching tv became very difficult for me. I had almost given up hope to being able to watch tv anymore due to the clarity of people’s voices and what was being said.

Even closed caption wasn’t much help. Now with this sound box I hear exactly what’s being said the tone and clarity of this miracle box is excellent just like having my normal hearing back. You can tune in the tone and clarity and volume to suit you.

I love this device and it has brought back the joy in my life of being able to watch tv again. Thank you Diglo for carrying such a wonderful device!!!.

Rec’d TVsound box. Followed instructions and discovered the speaker batttery would not take a charge. Returned entire unit w the enclosed return sticker they emailed me I immediately mailed it back in original packing at no cost to me.

Asked that they check the battery in speaker before sending a new replacement. Got the new one in a few days. – worked great gave it to my friend 91 yrs old who loved it! I had a TV sound for 4 years and have gifted them to friends in my mature age group.

Great product and Diglo backed it upwith excellent response to a faulty batter,.

I was very hopeful and excited about this, for providing me greater ease of hearing my TV programs. I do think it is probably perfect for my needs. However, I haven’t been able to get it working yet.

Honestly I really need to get with it and see how it does. I tried connecting it and I didn’t get it right the first time, and to be frank I haven’t doubled down on it to try again. When I get farther along, I’ll come back and report again.

I’m a bit disappointed that it wasn’t PnP – at least not for me yet – but it’s a bit more tech than I’m good at. We’ll see. More to come!.

This thing is great. Like the other review says it amplifies the voice,,,not the background noise. Crystal clear and not delayed. I’m partially hard of hearing so it helps me a lot. Also when someone is in the other room trying to sleep (me) turn this on and the tv volume down.

Recharge overnight and good to go the next day. Wish I knew of these a few years ago. Highly recommend.

I got this for my wife because she has trouble with the tv sound and I turned on captioning which is annoying especially when watching sports. She likes the Pyle wireless speaker and says the tv sound is very good.

Sonos original playbar is still a very strong solution. I have it connected to my TV via fiber optic cable. Volume using the TV remote works great. I immediately upgraded the Playbar to be compatible with S2 controller and that process was flawless.

Negatives include not having HDMI, no airplay and no internal assistant capabilities. I think these are minor however newer sound bars at this performance level usually have these options. Music listening experience is very similar to listening to a pair of play3s.

Great mid bass for almost all music. Quality sound at all volume levels. Highs are normal sounding. TV shows and movies sound really fills the room. This sound bar does a great job of clear reproduction.

You will find that you can listen at a lower volume level and still hear all sounds. Summary now that the Sonos Arc is available you can find the Playbar in the $300-500 range. At this price point its an excellent value.

The first dissatisfier is that you cannot hook it up to your computer unless you buy another one of their products (m5 amplifier). The base is insufficient, so you have to buy their pricey subwoofer.

You have to set up the Sonos with their app which I found insufficient. The sound is decent, but not what I expected. Beware of the sales job of those who are so happy to present their case. I was especially hooked by their video animations.

I bought at the same time the Nakamichi 5. 1 system with 2 subwoofers and my whole family was blown away by the sound. It also includes several HDMI ports to connect a computer. For the price, sound, easy setup, and hook up with your receiver go with the Nakamichi setup.

I have played the Sonos once and is now collecting dust. I bought both systems refurbished. The Nakamichi was very well packaged as if new. The Sonos came wrapped in bubble plastic and I was lucky it did not come in damaged (it works now).

After quite a busy 2018, I decided to offer myself a much needed upgrade for my T. V sound system and skimming on the web for an option and after looking at the possibilities, I decided to opt for the SONOS playbar, which I’ll explain why I so regret my choice now in the sense that you can have what I’d quality as way better options for the price even though there’s some qualities to that product.

All in all, the bar has some qualities; – the design is in my opinion quite stunning and when you do touch and manipulate it, you can feel that it’s made with quality material. – The sound is overall very good for the price you pay, which is another solid quality when you’re looking for a playbar.

– The playbar is quite easy to install via the APP; it’s as friendly as it can be. -NOW. there are some solid bummers that do come with it. The first one is that the only way to play to use the playbar is via the APP.

As stated above, is the app is great to sync speakers together and to install, it’s absolutely terrible for all the rest. At least, if you’re an android user. I did skim the previous reviews and from what I read, it seems like the App used to be quite something many moons back but did detoriate seriously in the meantime.

If you want to, say, use the playbar to play music, you’ll realize that the Sonos app is at best a very bad music player compared to the real good apps to play music that we do have on the market at the moment.

How come is that? – Also, there’s really no way around the app; there’s just no bluetooth on the device, which is a bit flabbergasting when you consider that there are some solid competitions around the block who offer that.

That means that 1) for any other use, you gotta use the SONOS app which is terrible at playing things and that 2) you’re stuck with that “digital mini jail”; without the app, that beautiful and pricy playbar is completely useless.

Despite the solid design and the very good sound, I consider that the whole experience is then a bit disappointing and to be honest, there’s then many better options over there, like the SONY or the BOSE playbars who offer as well stunning designs and a sound that’s comparable (perhaps slightly better but not significantly) BUT where you’re not stuck at using a poor playing app if you don’t like it (Bose for example makes a better playing app albeit not as friendly to install and if you don’t like it, there’s the bluetooth option).

Do I recommand? Well, if you’re sold to SONOS and that your whole house is SONOS based, perhaps it’s worth it, otherwise, you have way better options for the same price here.

I was scrolling through and saw a review saying that this is an unimpressive and unconvincing atmos system. To be clear i consider myself an avid hone thester enthusiast and went through great pains to find an overall system that i like the sound of and keeps my wife happy with aesthetics.

I have been to several commercial theaters with including amc and have watched dozens of movies in that theater and other premium atmos theaters. I have also been in homes with atmos setups into the 5k rangs.

I provide that context to the next statement i make isnt ridiculous. The JBL absolutely holds its own, ive had it for two years and it still surprises me with how convincing of a 3D bubble it can make.

Several good movies to test Atmos (not necessarily good movies) would be spider head with the jbl in my home it doesnt sound like voices are above the tv when the intercom comes up. It sounds like youre in a hospital and there are announcements being made, its spooky natural.

The tomorrow war theres some great scenes with helicopters where youre not just getting one dimensional overhead effects but sweeping back right of the room to front left that are again extremely true to life.

Its not the be all end all system in truth it is bested by some other more expensive systems but for $1000 this is a absolutely amaxing system. No ugly receivers, no wires, no permanent satellites, absolutely servicable audio quality, very rich punchy powerful bass, and very good atmos performance.

Its actually very strange to even see that gripe because this bars most staunch critics will even give credit to the outstanding atmos performance so i felt compelled to speak up. This system isnt without its flaws, in my opinion not having an eq option at this price is a little ridiculous, i am fortunate enough that the room calibration and limited bass controls are enough to put the sound where i personally like amd overall i think most would be impressed with its a little ridiculous the option isnt there, there should be audio profiles and there should be an app.

Its incredibly annoying the bar has to be shut off to charge speakers because sometimes the bar wont shut off with the tv leaving you with dead surrounds which is obnoxious. Small quality of life things that im sure will be addressed in the next iteration but overall an absolute winner.

Dear potential buyers of JBL Bar 9. 1, Unless your refrigerator, stove, light switches, and toilets are all Internet connected through your Google Home account, you should probably not purchase this sound bar.

The product description, packaging, and manual neglect to reveal that it absolutely REQUIRES addition to your home network using Google Home (or Apple equivalent) in order to operate securely. There is no other option.

If you set it up like a normal sound bar (without Google Home), it does work but continuously broadcasts itself over its own unsecured WiFi network as an available speaker system for anyone or their miscreant teenager to commandeer.

They can freely add it to their own Google Home account without your authorization and then use Chromecast to blast heavy metal throughout your home in the middle of the night. Your only recourse is to disconnect power or do a factory reset.

oh wait, then it defaults back to free-speakers-for-anyone mode. Not helpful. I’ve informed JBL of the problem, but their support has told me there is in fact no way to disable the feature and that this is intentional BY DESIGN: “I hope you understand, that this is not done as an oversight, but as a design.

” – HCG Customer Support, May 2022 Fixing the problem would only require a simple firmware update, but, in numerous e-mails, they’ve provided no indication such an update will be created. Given the problem is intentional by design, it’s evident they will not be fixing the problem unless enough people refuse to buy the product.

Please refuse to buy the product and inform JBL that this lack of consideration for the customer’s privacy is the reason. Such a feature representing a possible invasion of your home’s privacy should be disabled by factory default and only enabled if you choose to use it.

The fact that it cannot be disabled if one chooses is despicable for a supposedly reputable company and, henceforth, I will not be purchasing any JBL products. Happy shopping all. P. s. For the DIY-ers out there, disconnecting the bar’s WiFi module internally to disable the Internet connection feature does not work because it uses the same module to communicate with the wireless sub and surrounds.

This is a combination review of the soundbar and of Best Buy. Due to prior disappointments I should have known better, but since my last purchase of an expensive LG OLED went so badly they gave me the Geek Squad protection service, normally $200 a year, for free, which is exactly what it’s worth.

I bought this soundbar and had the free installation scheduled asap, for a week later. I had several questions that a Geek Squad member should have been able to answer. The two men who brought the soundbar were delivery men only, and had no idea how to answer my questions as they usually only deliver appliances.

I was told the Geek Squad would be doing the installation. After they left I called the Geek squad and had to reschedule another visit 5 days later. I asked to talk to a supervisor and was told there were 5 others ahead of me who had requested a supervisor as well.

I left my number, but I doubt they will call back, because they never do. I used the ARC HDMI to connect the soundbar because I was already using the optical out of the TV for my wireless headphones, and because reviews mention that if you use the optical all you can get is 5.

1, not 9. 1. I solved the problem of powering the rear speakers by connecting them to AC using adapters (iPhone type), with a USB to mini USB cord so that they are constantly powered, which eliminates the battery issue so many complain about.

The soundbar sounds good, but of course the delivery men didn’t know how to adjust it or test it. When you turn on the soundbar it takes over all audio and the TV speakers can no longer be used, even if you want to.

This is on a 83″ LG OLED, brand new with Dolby Atmos. The wireless headphones no longer worked after the soundbar was connected. I need the headphones because I get up early and don’t want to disturb my wife if I want to watch TV.

Sometimes I use them during the day for the same reason, if she’s reading for instance. To test if it was the TV or the soundbar I hooked up a different TV, also a new LG OLED 77″ in the master, using the ARC HDMI for the PS4, and the wireless headphones still work using the optical output of the TV.

I have little hope that the Geek Squad will be able to get my headphones working again, even though I bought them from Best Buy. They didn’t have a clue why they wouldn’t work initially last year and I had to find out for myself a year later that the settings were incorrect to allow them to function.

They worked on cable, but not on blue ray or streaming until I discovered the advanced audio setting mismatch.

I’ve had this soundbar for a couple of weeks now and must say that I am very impressed with the overall sound. My initial budget was £500 but after reading into up-firing speaker systems I knew I had to get one! I wasn’t so keen on last years design with the cloth material finish and the screen being on top of the device so decided to wait for this one and I am so glad that I did, it looks great and the sound is outstanding, I’ve had to make a few tweaks to the settings for my own liking and although I’m not quite there yet the results are stunning, I’ve tested this with Ghostbusters Afterlife and Stranger Things Season 4 to name a few, quiet scenes when someone is walking or riding a bike down an empty road really makes it sound like you’re actually there with them the sound of leaves rustling on the ground or the wind going through the trees sounds crisp and makes the viewing experience a lot more pleasurable.

The virtual surround sound also does a decent job and on a few occasions I’ve heard the sound come from behind me, also the side firing speakers do an excellent job as when a doorbell rang on one scene I actually looked over to the side of the room from where the sound came from! The sub has a massive punch on scenes where there are explosions and destruction the only minor issue is sometimes on scenes where there is music playing the bass doesn’t sound as deep as I would expect, that may just be to do with how I have it set up (Still tweaking the settings) or maybe its the way its been mixed into the show or movie.

I have tested the same music through YouTube and it sounds great as you would expect. I have turned up the channel on the up-firing speakers which sounded fantastic during rainy scenes in The Batman and along with the side firing speakers it sounds like its coming from all around you.

The good thing is if I feel the need for an even more immense experience I can purchase the rear speaker set in the future. I was a bit hesitant at spending £800 on this system but as soon as I put on a movie I forgot all about it! Every time I’m watching something I cant help but smile at how good this thing sounds.

I find that turning on virtual surround sound and using the adaptive settings gives the best overall performance. Highly recommended.

The Samsung Q990B Sound bar This new 11. 1. 4ch Samsung sound bar has set the bar pretty high for any future theater-like quality sound! First, the setup was very straight forward and easy to follow.

The rear speakers do all the work for you in automatically connecting to the system, the out of the box sound is already impressive and immersive. Once you follow the steps for the room space calibration it just takes the experience to a whole other enhanced level.

Style – the look and style of the sound bar is just as sleek and modern as you’d come to expect from other Samsung electronics. The sound bar is seamless under any TV or console and although the rear speakers a little larger than expected they’re still small enough to blend with the rest of your décor.

The changes from last year’s model to this one are really emphasized here, where as the screen used to be on top of the soundbar it is now in front and it makes all the better difference for it! The entire soundbar is also now metal all around, which makes cleaning and dusting a breeze! Performance – the performance of this sound bar is in a level all its own when compared with any other high-end sound bar of equal caliber.

We upgraded from am older similarly priced sound bar with which we were very happy, and this Samsung version blew it completely out the water. The 3D audio and DTS:X sound lets you enjoy everything from music, action movies and gaming at an almost professional level.

The lows and highs are crisp and well defined, dialogues are not muffled and the sound from the rear speakers is just enough to give you the full immersive movie experience. And lastly, the compatibility is just as easy to manage as the setup! Having multiple Samsung TVs and appliances made adding the Q990B to the Samsung Hub a breeze.

Tap To Connect also made connecting our smart, wireless devices super easy without any lag in switching between different platforms. All in all, I would have to give this one a 10/10 in all things performance, ease of use and design!.

I bought this 2 weeks ago from RS Bristol, to replace old Bose Sound Link that doesn’t have Bluetooth connection, in one word it is amazing. I use it with Bluetooth from my Android phone playing music from Spotify.

The sound is fantastic way better than the Bose it replacef, and gets better the more I run it in. I love the separate bass and treble buttons which allows you to fine tune to your own preference. Tried several others in store Sonos and Audio Pro addon C3 no comparison in my opinion.

Only small gripe is that it is wired so can’t use outside in bad weather. However seeing as I am going to be using it in my man cave where I have power, it isn’t an issue for me. Excellent service from Mark and the team in Bristol branch.

After reviewing desktop speakers to replace my Bose Companions, I realized it boils down to taste and expectations. Growing up in the 60s, playing a little bass, going to countless great concerts in NYC, and knowing Marshall’s excellence led me to check this one out.

I’ve owned McIntosh 500 watt and 270 watt amps, KEF 107s, etc. If that’s what you want, add 0s. This is an amp, preamp and single speaker smaller than a shoe box – and it’s excellent for what is. Plus, looking at my mini-amp look alike with light-up red dials makes me smile.

Setup: Less than 10 minutes to unpack, plug in, download the app, connect my phone and play music. Read a few complaints about the app spamming you with offers and tracking you. Opt out of email and analytics when you set up.

I allowed analytics because that does help product repairs and improvement. Sound: Read a few complaints about not enough volume. After listening to one at the store, I was convinced it’s user problems.

I’m listening from another room with the speaker volume at 50%. Any louder would make my neighbors unhappy. Turn the volume on your phone, tablet or computer to max and control volume at the speaker.

Bass, mids and highs are what to expect in this price range. Voices and cymbals are clear, bass isn’t muddy. Listening for the past hour hasn’t made me want to turn them off. These beat the Bose Companions and Sonos Ones, in my opinion.

Marshall should add an equalizer to their app – keep the bass and treble dials of course – and boom, perfection. Are you listening Marshall? Connection: Tested at the opposite end of my 1,200 sq foot condo through a couple of walls without any connection loss.

Durability: I’ll be back. Bottom Line: For under $300, you won’t find a better speaker. They may not be to your liking, but that’s a matter of taste. And they look great on my desk and make smile.

This is a truly great piece of kit from Marshall, a British company with a sixty year history of making high-power amplifiers and speakers for amateur and professional musicians alike. Although quite impressed by the appearance of this unit online, I was even more enthused examining it first-hand from a tactile perspective, the construction being solidly reassuring and the styling tastefully retro, enabling it to look at home in virtually any situation.

In terms of power delivery and sound quality I could not fault the Acton, despite its quite diminutive size. In summary, I thought this was a great buy with nothing to dislike. Whilst I have downloaded the App, I did not use it to carry out Bluetooth pairing, which was a dawdle manually.

After reading a number of positive reviews, I bought the Bar 2. 0 as a refurbished model directly from JBL. The unit itself arrived in pristine condition and, with exception of batteries, came with all the accesories and paperwork you would expect.

To be fair, the accessories only consist of a very simple remote and a 1m HDMI cable (no optical cable). Set-up couldn’t be easier – plug HDMI connector in back of unit, other end into HDMI1 (ARC) socket on back of TV and switch on.

My TV found the soundbar immediately and switched it’s audio output to the Bar 2. 0 without further adjustment. As an added bonus, the TV remote also controls the volume of the Bar 2. 0 so you can put the soundbars’ own remote out of the way until you want to use it as a bluetooth speaker.

Okay, what about the sound? Even the cheapest soundbar is usually an improvement over the tiny, tinny, downward facing speakers of the vast majority of modern SMART TV’s and the Bar 2. 0 is no exception.

It won’t (and physically can’t) fill a room with cinematic surround sound but what it can do is make speech a lot clearer (not just louder) and music more intense with well-defined highs and lows and a fair attempt at adding a bit of low frequency bass (sans sub-woofer obviously).

Quite a remarkable performance really given it’s footprint which allows it to sit right at home under the smallest of TV’s. Bottom-line – if you have spent £1000’s on a 75″ OLED 4K TV then get yourself a 7.

1 surround sound system and enjoy every minute of it – this is not the speaker for you. If, however, you are fed up of saying ‘What did he say?’ whilst watching your favourite soap on your 40″ TV then this speaker may just be what you are looking for.

A compact all-in-one Bar Studio from a world renowned speaker company which has all the necessary connections and features and is now available at less than half the price is nothing short of a steal.

But, be prepared to have the JBL India Customer Service steal the joy of owning and experiencing the Bar Studio. I purchased the JBL Bar Studio from the official JBL India website for Rs 5,799, a huge discount from the initial price of Rs 11,999.

I was aware that this speaker was over 2 years old and had already been replaced by a newer JBL Bar 2. 0 All-in-One soundbar. But while the newer speaker has far greater sound (80 watts RMS vs 50 watts RMS), it was not necessarily an upgrade as quite a few features were missing from the outgoing model.

A comparison of the two speakers and individual reviews of the two speakers are easily available on the internet to compare the differences. I wanted a compact and versatile soundbar with most connection options (HDMI ARC, BT, USB, Optical and Analogue 3.

5mm input) and quality sound sufficient for a room at the least possible price. The JBL Bar Studio checked all these boxes and had some more features on offer (a remote control with preset EQs, surround sound, added bass control).

The JBL Bar Studio seemed and sounded like a dream come true. But on reading the reviews the world over, I was aware of a major flaw: The Bar Studio would automatically cut off when there was no sound output for a short while.

This was a widely reported issue which annoyed quite a few users/owners of the Bar Studio. I then read somewhere that JBL had officially issued a software/firmware update 42. 37 in March 2019 to resolve this muting issue.

I was quite sure that I would contact the JBL Customer Service and request them to send me this software/firmware update 42. 37, as soon as I received the Bar Studio. I opened my brand new Bar Studio on August 1 and immediately noticed that the remote did not work.

There were two reasons: Either the battery on the remote was dead (the speaker I purchased was manufactured in April 2019) and the remote was OK or that, the battery was OK and the remote had a manufacturing defect.

I then contacted the JBL Customer Service and requested them to send a technician to test the remote. I also asked them to send me the firmware/software update by email. Even though my Bar Studio was manufactured in April 2019, it still had the old firmware 40.

37, which had made it susceptible to the common muting issue. The JBL had already officially released the software/firmware update 42. 37 in March 2019 and I was surprised that JBL had not incorporated the new software in subsequent Bar Studio soundbars manufactured in April 2019.

Since August 1, I contacted the JBL Customer Service in India twice by phone and even sent them an email, requesting for this firmware/software update by email. Till now, I am still awaiting for a reply from them, with the desired software/firmware update 42.

37. How long does it take the JBL Customer Service to attach a software/firmware update 42. 37 (which is 3. 09 MB in size) and send it along with required instructions to the user/owner, especially when requested? Why is this software/firmware update 42.

37 not easily available on the JBL Bar Studio Support Page itself, especially since JBL has officially acknowledged this muting issue with the JBL Bar Studio and has even released a firmware/software update to resolve this issue? Why is the JBL Service Centre not equipped with this firmware update, so that technicians can update this firmware/software for those users/owners not technologically competent? JBL may kindly answer these questions.

After much effort all over the internet, I finally traced the official JBL software/firmware update 42. 37 with simple/clear instructions on how to update the software/firmware. It would have been so much easier and better had JBL simply sent me the software/firmware update 42.

37 by email or even, had sent a technician with the software/firmware update 42. 37 for my soundbar. If the JBL Customer Service desired to steal the joy of owning and experiencing the Bar Studio, it most certainly did a wonderful job.

The remote issue on my JBL Bar Studio has also been resolved. The JBL Bar Studio is indeed a wonderful soundbar for its capabilities and has been widely praised in reviews by users and audio experts alike.

It is compact, superbly built, more than sufficient volume for a decent room, has excellent clarity and has virtually all features and connections possible to make it a versatile speaker. I do hope to enjoy the JBL Bar Studio for as long as possible.

While JBL speakers are superbly crafted audio equipment and are a prized possession for any and every household, I would be reluctant to recommend JBL to friends and relatives, given the poor support and service of the JBL Customer Service in India.

Had To Return As Unit Faulty Bought this unit to replace a very old Denon soundbase that had finally stopped working. I have to agree with some other reviews that the sound is a bit tinny but for the price seemed acceptable.

Unfortunately after around ten days after receipt it was becoming very hard to get the remote control to work with the unit & on two occasions the unit itself would not work. I spoke to Arron in telesales who agreed that I could return the unit & I paid the extra to purchase a Yamaha soundbar for £199.

00. This arrived yesterday & the sound quality is far superior (plus the remote is so much easier to use). If you are thinking of buying a ‘budget priced’ soundbar I would suggest you spend the extra £100 & get the Yamaha.

I needed a soundbar that was under 700mm in length to fit neatly in my tv cabinet & the Yamaha SR-C20A is recommended. Whilst the JBL 2. 0 was faulty the service from Richer Sounds was most certainly not – they could not have been more helpful & I am yet again after many previou.

Like the title says. These speakers sound incredible for their size. We use them with our TCL Roku TV in a medium sized room. The bass response is so good in this room that I can’t imagine requiring the subwoofer unless it is for a larger room.

The mids and the high end are great as well. We use only a pair of these for sound and yet they are very immersive. The stereo separation is flawless which is really awesome for listening to music as well as movies and TV shows.

These speakers are LOUD in a medium But probably the best thing is the ability to bring out the dialog over the background music and sound effects to better understand what is being said. Alot of speakers/soundbars claim to do this, but these actually deliver.

Another great feature of these speakers is the absolutely easy setup on these. Plug them in one by one. Follow the spoken (over the speaker) and written (on the TV) instructions. That consists of waiting for the TV to find the speaker on the network and then assigning it either left or right.

Do that for both speakers and viola, you are done. The only wire involved is the plug to the wall outlet. If you have a Roku TV, get these now! You won’t regret it.

I’ve only owned these speakers for a couple of weeks so, I cannot vouch for their durability. As far as sound goes, their tonality is as good as some speakers doubled their size and costing hundreds more.

I was absolutely blown away by their effortless rich treble and authoritative bass. Their sound stage is wide, enveloping, and undiluted thus making for a perfect surround effects speaker. There is also a high end look about them; they are weighty, well constructed, with very fine materials used for the grills, and they have an unobtrusive design… you will also love their cable management system, whereas compared to a very fine Bose Sound Touch 300 wireless satellite, which has its amplifier and wireless system housed in a separate box, which in my opinion makes it only partially wireless, meaning you’ll have to make room on the floor to conceal the extra electronics; the fact that all of Roku’s electronics are encased within the speakers, makes them a very attractive alternative.

These speakers are full range and not beholden to an outboard sub, unless you just want the extra lower octave. I’m using the smaller Roku streambar along with their wireless satellites in my guest bedroom; they blend well and their powerful audio impact makes for some exciting movie nights for my guests.

If these speakers’ sound quality is representative of their longevity, consider yourself lucky to own a pair; you’ve just entered an elite class of high end theater sound ownership at a truly bargain price.

Sonos bills the Ray Sounder as a great choice for people who want big sound in a small space, but I have to tell you, it is great for big rooms as well. We have a 60″ TV mounted above our fireplace in our main living room/kitchen area (open concept).

We have found that some sounds and especially dialogue can seem a bit muffled or ‘lost’ in all that open room. We don’t tend to watch movies and such in there, we have a multi-media room for that, but we do watch lots of news and my wife watches her reality TV shows in there, so lots of dialogue.

The Ray product description talks about how it is tuned to help with voices and dialogue, and I have to say, Sonos and the Ray delivered in spectacular fashion. Everything sounds crisp and precise no matter where you are in the room or what you are doing.

For that reason alone, the Ray is completely worth it for me. The Ray is also incredibly easy to set up. I was able to plug it in to the power plug behind the TV and slot the digital audio cable (fiber optic) without even having to move the TV on my mount.

I had already downloaded the App to my iPhone right before opening the box and within a couple minutes I had the Ray up and running and was ready to ‘tune’ it for the room. Sonos has you hold your phone so the mic is up and then has you walk around the room sweeping it from high to low as it pings our a tone so that the software can figure out the acoustics of your room.

It took me three tries to get it done (first I went too slow because I was trying to minimize the noise I made, on the second try I made too much noise because I was going faster, but on the third try I managed to do everything right).

It is completely worth it to go through the tuning because I could tell the difference almost immediately. It really felt like the sound was being beamed right to my ears. I was as happy as could be with the set up and sound of the Ray and my wife was even impressed with the sound and she hardly notices that stuff.

Unfortunately, the next day we started running into a problem. While I was able to get my Samsung and the Ray to talk that first day and was able to control the volume with my TV remote, it stopped working the next day and I had to go through the troubleshooting process.

Got it to work again and my wife was happy. The next day, same exact thing. While I appreciate the the fiber optic connection for it’s sound quality, and lack of delay, I’m really wishing that Sonos has put in an HDMI connection, because I have YET to have a problem controlling a sound bar through that way (though I HAVE had problems with sound synching through HDMI).

The Ray is new and so is my Samsung TV so I’m hoping that maybe we might get this worked out with a firmware update to one or the other or both. It also wouldn’t be a problem if all shows and commercials were required to be leveled to the same volume, so that you didn’t need to crank down/up the volume all the time and could instead, just find the precise volume that works for you and let it be.

Finally, I really hope that Sonos also makes a TV undermount for the Ray. It has one available to mount it directly to the wall, but I don’t want to have to do that. Right now it is sitting on the mantle, which is fine in the short term but I would really like it slung underneath the TV so we don’t have to see the cords.

It is such a diminutive soundbar that it shouldn’t need anything fancy or too bulky. I’m sure I could find something from a 3rd party but I would prefer to have one made especially for the Ray. All-in-all, I am VERY happy with the Ray.

I eventually got my wife to put the Sonos App on her phone and she can adjust the volume there for the time being, but I would really like for Sonos to come up with a solution to utilize the remote we already have a bit better.

For the price, the Ray is an outstanding addition to any TV setup and will vastly improve the sound quality of your shows regardless of the size of your room.

As a long time Sonos user I was excited to get the newly released Ray Soundbar with WiFi. It’s Sonos’ latest soundbar release and is touted as a compact solution that’s easy to setup and use. This is certainly the case as it literally takes just a few minutes to setup and use with a TV or as a speaker for music or gaming.

Although it’s diminutive in size, the sound is fantastic as expected from a Sonos speaker. Packaging – more and more consumer electronics companies are moving to recycled/recyclable packaging and Sonos has jumped on that wagon.

The Ray is packaged very well and arrived in perfect condition. Included in the box is the Ray, power cord, optical cord and instructions. Build Quality – the Ray is definitely a compact soundbar weighing in at a little over 4 lbs.

and measuring just 22″ wide. The speakers are forward facing so based on that and the size this soundbar can be placed in a TV console, hung on a wall (with adapter, not included) or even on a desktop for gaming use.

Although it’s compact, the build quality is very impressive and as expected from Sonos. There are flush touch controls on the top of the unit and only an ethernet, optical and power connections. There’s also an indicator light which can be toggled on/off with the Sonos app.

Setup – As advertised by Sonos the Ray is super easy to setup and and use. Simply connect the optical and power cables, download the S2 Sonos app and begin the setup. It took about 2-3 minutes from unboxing to connected and running on my Vizio TV.

Once up and running, the Ray is configureable through the S2 app. Sound such as bass and treble can be adjusted with the “EQ” and Trueplay allows the user to customize the sound based on the room the Ray is located in.

Status light and lights for the touch controls are also adjustable in the app. Remote control setup is also managed with the app. and this is one area I was a bit let down. As the Ray is only able to connect to a TV with an optical audio cable, it only supports IR (infrared) remote controls.

The remote for my Vizio TV is an RF and does not support the Ray. Sound Quality – This is where the Ray really shines. I am blown away by the BIG sound that comes out of such a compact soundbar. For use with TV, Sonos worked with Hollywood sound engineers to develop a speaker that delivers crisp and understandable dialogue.

There’s also an adjustment toggle in the app, and it works. With the optical audio cable, TV dialogue synced perfectly and no adjust meant was needed. Definitely use the Trueplay option and customize the Ray for your room(s).

It creates a truly immersive sound experience! For music, the rich bass and crisp treble is amazing for such a small set up. I find myself using the Ray more and more for listening to Sonos Music instead of watching TV.

The Sonos Ray is an amazing compact WiFi Soundbar that puts out BIG sound! I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to add or upgrade a soundbar for TV, music or gaming, this thing rocks!.

I’ve tested other sound bars that connected to my TV via HDMI/ARC and had a lot of extra features to almost act like a full on receiver before. This sound bar is definitely not that. It’s really simple to hook up no matter what your TV looks like (as long as it has an optical output, which, as far as I know, most do) you’re good to go.

Setup was fairly easy. The box included an optical cable with a decent length and a power cable. After hooking everything up, the sonos app will help finalize the settings for the sound bar for you. This was the most “Apple like” experience out of any other non-Apple third party equipment I’ve used.

The app found the speaker quickly and automatically helped connect to the wifi network and update the firmware with little to no intervention required. You can customize a handful of settings in the app to adjust the EQ or adjust the voice delay if needed.

Whatever simple settings you can think of adjusting can probably be found in the app. Or you can play a variety of music or airplay straight from the app as well. It’s a pretty well done app but I don’t need to use it much after the initial setup.

The app also allows you to program your normal IR remote to control the volume on the Ray. All it needed was for me to press volume-up once on my Apple TV remote and it was all set up. Very nice. Day to day, I just leave the Ray on.

This is where you need to figure out if the simple optical connection is what you’re looking for. Since there’s no HDMI connection for this sound bar, you can’t control it via CEC. So, it just makes sense to leave the sound bar on so it’s always going to be our sound source and if we need to airplay music to it it’s always available.

The only downside to not having CEC control is that I can’t use the AppleTV remote function on my iPhone to control the volume since that’s controlled completely via IR. So don’t lose your remote! This isn’t a big deal but it’s something.

Setting my TV to output via optical instead of the built in speakers was very easy but your milage will vary depending on what TV yout have. Mine is an older (~10 years) 55″ samsung TV. The sound of the Ray is quite good.

I don’t need it to anger the neighbors or anything but it does get fairly loud (you can even adjust the maximum allowed volume in the app if you don’t want to accidentally turn it up too loud). It beats the TV speakers by a mile (what doesn’t, though?).

All in all, I’m glad I have this on my bedroom TV. If I had other sonos speakers, I’d probably get even more out of it by pairing them together and giving myself a sort of surround sound system but this one sounds good for it’s environment and “just works” well enough for us.

If you’re looking for a nice speaker that “just works” for any TV you’re currently using the TV speakers on, this one might be for you if it’s in your budget. Give it a look.

Pros: I love the Bose Solo 5 sound bar. It was a great price in the sale and although I am no expert, I feel that for the money the sound quality is very good. It looks stylish and is wall mounted below my new LG 48” OLED TV, which has made a huge improvement to the depth of the sound on the TV.

I didn’t appreciate when buying my new TV that although I would have fantastic picture quality, the sound quality would be a backward step compared to my old TV (due to the OLED TV being ultra thin, resulting in the speakers lacking in bass).

By adding the sound bar, I now have a TV with both amazing picture quality and sound. The Bose remote control measures approx 22 x 5cm and for older people, is a much easier size to use than the small remote control that came with the LG TV.

My partner was able to set up the sound bar, so that the majority of the functions of the TV could be controlled solely by the Bose remote control. Cons: For watching TV, I can just use the Bose Remote Control, but when using the TV with the Internet, e.

g. on iplay, I have to use the LG remote to get onto the Internet functions. I’m not sure whether there is a way around this, but suspect not, from other reviews I have read from people who appear tech savvy.

I don’t know whether this is also an issue with others makes of TV. Also, when using the Bose remote to control the volume for the TV through the sound bar, there are no numbers on the sound bar, or on the TV screen, to show the increase/decrease of level in volume.

For people that rely on watching their TV on a specific volume number, it means a bit of guesswork to get to the volume that suits you.

I picked up one of these Solo 5 for my living room TV, since we were only using the TV speakers at the time for sound. Found mine for a little under $100 shipped, which I’m absolutely ok with paying.

Bose quality. I found this soundbar had too much bass once you cranked the bass up. It didn’t distort any sounds, but it completely overpowered the rest of the sound. The quietest it will go is actually a touch too loud for me to leave on when my baby is sleeping, and it goes way louder than I would ever need.

For most people, it would be perfect volume. I haven’t played around with settings much, but I’ve only found a bass adjustment, no other equalizer options. The sound is really good regardless, but I like to tweak.

Having the bass adjustable does a fine job though, the factory equalizer settings are pretty good. The physical construction of the bar feels solid, heavy, and rugged. I wouldn’t be worried if this fell off the entertainment center at all.

If they add more equalizer adjustability (or if I find out they did and I just can’t find it), I would give this 5 stars as long as it was purchased for around 100-150 bucks, maximum. Over that amount, and you could get a bar and woofer combo instead, but this bar needs no subwoofer I promise you.

Maybe you have to put this in a small room. Maybe you have to have never heard a great audio setup. Maybe you have to like flat music. Those were the thoughts going through my head for the week I tried this soundbar.

Tried it with its little friends the surround speaker and the subwoofer…. still fell flat. You lose all the ranges. In the end I just couldn’t so back it all went. I’m sticking with my old Polk speakers and a new magical subwoofer that allows me to have all the ranges whether watching movies or listening to music.

Maybe this soundbar is for you, but it was definitely not for me.

Sennheiser is one of the most venerable manufacturers of professional audio, exemplified by the full and natural sound of their Ambeo Soundbar. However, although touted as producing immersive Dolby Atmos sound, this is simply not possible, given that the unit lacks rear speakers and a sub-woofer.

Regardless, when adding a sub, and playing Dolby Atmos certified broadcasts, the Ambeo Soundbar’s sound is pristine (just not really Atmos). The Achilles heel of this unit is its Smart Control remote (for iPhone & others) which, when working, allows for a variety of very nuanced controls of the sound bar’s capabilities.

But the problem is ‘consistency’. The app perpetually disconnects from the unit, and its controls are a challenge to understand – even for one steeped in professional audio. Finally, the Ambeo Soundbar, even at a discounted $2,000, is overpriced.

$1,500 would be a fair price for this top-tier sounding unit that is poorly implemented in its controls, and semi-complete as an “immersive sound” system.

Postives: Very dynamic and detailed with clear vocals. The Dolby Atmos effects gives the Ambeo a big front soundstage, nice Atmos effects you’d swear there was another set of speakers 4 foot either side of the tv.

Also on Netflix even basic non Atmos films are upmixed to sound really good too. Negatives: There’s no true Atmos effects, nothing from the rear or above, however this is a sound bar so it can’t compete with AVR + multi speakers at the same price.

In my view it’s halfway towards a HT system. Also when switching between apps within the TV sometimes there’s no sound. a re-boot of the Ambeo solves it. Conclusion: It depends on your domestic situation.

If your room is smallish (like most in the UK) and you want a wife friendly simple solution in a sound bar then this is the best available and highly recommended. However if you want the best sound and don’t mind multiple speakers with long cables in your room then an AVR with multiple speakers sound better and offer better value.

This is supposed to be a premium product with a price tag of $2,500. I really tried to like this soundbar. The idea of one box replacing an amplifier and 5 speakers is very appealing to me. Unfortunately, it is defective by design.

I have already returned it once and am likely to bring this one back as well. The problem is that the sound dies. Of what use is a speaker that stops making sounds? After watching TV for a while, the soundbar becomes mute.

The speaker just stops working. Adjusting the volume does not help. The only thing that resolves the issue is manually turning it off and on again. This fix is temporary and the problem comes back over and over again.

This problem has been noted on various internet sites. Unfortunately for me, after two different boxes tried and after applying the most current firmware updates the problem is still not resolved. Perhaps the speaker is designed to secretly force the user to get up off the chair multiple times in an evening of watching television as an exercise product? I have tried contacting customer support.

The support is non-existant. A pleasant person told me that all the agents were busy, took my contact information, and said I would get a callback. That was 3 weeks ago. Have you heard back from the company? Well, I haven’t.

So, my advice after trying to live with this speaker for 3-4 weeks is to look elsewhere or at least wait until this fatal design flaw is corrected.

Sound bar was never expected to give booming, theatre quality surround sound. For that, a much more expensive system would be needed. It is supposed to give a better quality and range of sound, than your typical television set will provide.

In that regard, it does succeed. My biggest problem with the sound bar is that it often will not operate at all. The power comes on, but no sound comes out. I’ve had to try rebooting several times, but often end up having to use my TV’s speakers.

One “workaround ” that sometimes works, is to pull the optical sound cable out of it’s plug and reinsert. Don’t know if I have a lemon or if this is a common flaw, but it shouldn’t be this hard to get it to work.

When it is working, however, it gives noticeably better sound.

Although I agreed with good design. It lacks its own power button. When you engage the extra base or dialogue mode I do wish that it shows it being engaged. Theres a led that does flash and stay on for a moment but, would be nice if it stayed just so you do know its engaged.

This isnt really a big deal though but, would be great to have a power and volume control on the bar just incase the remote gets damaged. I bought this because I really couldnt affird a bigger one at the yime but, for a small bar , it does sound really good.

I put it with my 75 inch Samsung tv and when you have a quiet scen, you don’t realize the impact it has when the action kicks in. Tried this first out on Lord of the rings and cranked it up. There’s a lot of slower , calmer and quieter scenes , but when the action picked up or with the fight scenes, I actually had to lower the volume.

It can get loud for tv. Never tried it for anything else. Going to get perhaps a 500 along with the subwoofer/ bass speaker when I gave a few bill taken care of. Do recommend this sound bar. You might want this more for smaller tvs as this is a smaller sound bar.

When I get a bigger sound bar this will go on a smaller Samsung we have as that tv really sounds flat. Which is amazing for a Samsung tv. For a larger tv and a larger room it still sounds good. Im not going to complain but, Im sure a bigger soundbar suits a bigger tv and room but, Im very happy with it.

I got an awesome deal on this product so that will influence my opinion compared with somebody who really forks out some cash. I like the design. Its fairly small. I have a 43 inch television and this tucks into the TV quite nicely.

The metal type build is quite nice. Its sleek, small and has a nice look to it. Besides its from Bose. What else to say. Now to the sound quality. If your looking for an awesome soundbar experience you won’t find it in this product.

Bose is well aware of the market. You get what you pay for. If you want added base, strong watts and all of that you will have to go up the price points like everybody else. If you want a soundbar with good sound and much better than TV sound this might be the soundbar for you.

This soundbar has really nice voice emphasis. There is a button on the remote that really enhances the voice quality. That is probably the best sound feature that I have noticed. If you are looking for extra base I think you will be disappointed.

It does emphasize base when you want to much better than your television and sounds quite good. It doesn’t come close to the upper tier soundbars that have the same feature. To conclude. This is a well made Bose soundbar that I would purchase again.

To me the price was the determining factor. Its well made, sounds much better than the TV sound and looks quite nice. I would recommend if price is important.

I bought it for my mom. Initially I had difficulty setting it up and since I was only at my Mom’s on weekends I was frustrated that I could not call to get help. The customer service person sent me a personal phone to contact her.

I dragged my son down the following weekend and he got it to work and I never needed to call the company. My mom has since called me twice to say how happy she is with this device and how she can now hear her TV so much better.

She had a couple shows she really likes but had difficulty with the sound on the TV and this unit solved that problem. Highly recommended, easy to use. My mom would like a mute button for the commercials but I contend that she can just turn the volume down with the knob.

She’s just used to the mute on her remote. I think she will get used to turning down the sound, it’s within easy reach.

I’ve been a Polk fan for years. Still using 26 year old towers and powered sub on my two-channel system. I’m probably not using this sound bar as conventionally as others. I’m using it as the sound system for my desktop computer in my office.

It fits perfectly under the monitor shelf on my desk. The sub is tucked neatly under the desk. I have a Schiit Modi/Magni DAC and headphone stack that completes my system. The DAC stack is connected to my desktop soundcard via USB, and then from the DAC to the soundbar using the RCA connections.

The DAC adds a huge difference. I can stream music using Tidal/SiriusXM/Amazon Music and it sounds fantastic. Deep bass and the DAC makes the soundbar sing. When streaming radio talk shows it is great for the voice presentation.

Perfect setup for me. I just wanted to add that you don’t have to use it specifically for your home theatre setup – you can also use it for two-channel audio/office use.

I bought this refurbished model at a significant cost savings over a new unit (whose reviews were very good). I’m happy with the quality of the finish and build of the speaker, and the sound that it produces; more than loud enough to replace my weak LG SJ8 soundbar for my 65″ LG TV.

I really appreciate the sound settings and voice enhancement levels too. The only annoying experience I have is the volume control increments (a loud knocking sound with each step up or down) is too loud and unnecessary; this feature needs an update to mute the sound.

The only thing that surprised me was the horrible shape of the shipping box that the bar came it. It looked like it had been through a war and kicked around the street. I had no idea what the electronics were like inside, but the soundbar is working great, with no nicks, dents, scratches, or sound issues.

Got this with a great deal when Best Buy started to carry it. I am a polkie with polk in my theater room as well so i like Polk sound. This is being used with a 42” tv in a billiard room for background audio and tv.

The chrome cast was really the deal cincher here for me. Sound quality is good not great but for this price point what I expected. No issues with sub pairing about 8’ away. Nice little unit when compared against the price of most other models with chrome cast for sure.

Does not have its own app but works with google home. A little odd in that regard but nothing serious.

I got this soundbar to hook up to my 65″ LG 65SM8100. Note that my TV only has an ARC HDMI port and NOT an eARC HDMI port. I was looking between this soundbar and the Sonos Arc soundbar. They are both very similar soundbars.

I recommend anybody considering this soundbar to compare it to the Sonos Arc to see which is better suited for their setup. The great thing about this soundbar is that for those not using eARC HDMI, the soundbar will still simulate the experience with the Bose adapt IQ.

This is done using the Bose music app, and the provided headset you use during product setup. The other great feature about this soundbar is the use of Bluetooth. I did not think I would bother with this feature, however, playing music just sounds so good on this bar that I find myself casting music from my phone via Spotify a lot more often than I thought.

Even though my TV and PS5 have Spotify, I prefer using my phone via bluetooth because it means I can leave the TV off and just have Spotify as a background ambience. Probably the best thing above all with this soundbar is the fact that when I watch movies, shows, and play video games, I no longer have the need to ride the volume.

My old soundbar would have music and explosions in movies extremely loud while characters talking would be whisper quiet. Bose seems to do something where volume levels are more even. Dialogue is fed through the centre speaker, while sounds appear to be delivered in different channels.

Now I can keep the volume at the same setting from beginning to end. There is even a setting in the app for a dialogue mode where it makes the dialogue louder. I have not yet tried this setting as I simply haven’t had the need to.

One thing to note is this soundbar has a glass top. When placed in front of the TV, it will cause a reflection of the TV screen onto the glass. It may bother some people, though I don’t mind at all. Looking at both the black and white version, I went with white simply because dust and fingerprints are practically invisible.

On the black version, fingerprints and dust are a lot more visible. Something to keep in mind with the fact that the buttons are a touch panel on the glass surface. The reason I gave this soundbar a 4/5 and not 5/5 is for 2 reasons: 1.

) Opening the Bose app, it very often says the Bose 900 is ‘not available’. Even though it is playing music on Bluetooth or playing sound while streaming shows. The problem seems to go away after a few moments.

This is a big deal because if I need to change an audio setting at the beginning of a show or movie, I have to wait for a wireless quirk to resolve itself first. An issue I shouldn’t have to fight with after dropping a grand on a soundbar.

2. ) I wish Bose would add a ‘Night mode’ to the soundbar. The competitor Sonos Arc has a night mode where highs and lows are toned down, and a more even volume range is projected to lessen the chance of disturbing other people while using the soundbar late at night.

This is strictly a software feature that Bose SHOULD be able to add via a firmware update, but we won’t get it unless we ask for it. So Bose, please add a night mode setting to the Bose 900. Note, I did add the Bass module 700 to this soundbar.

Though I will only speak of the bass experience in my written review on Amazon as that is where I bought it from. I definitely recommend adding the bass module 700 to this soundbar as it drastically improves the overall audio experience.

Hi everyone, Having owned the soundbar 900 now for 3 weeks I thought it would be good to share my thoughts to those considering upgrading from the 300/700, or jumping right in as a newbie to the 900.

Prior to the upgrade to the 900, I already had the full 700 setup which included the 700 Soundbar, 300 bass module and 300 rears. Prior to the soundbar 700, I had the 300. If I were to summarise, the 700 setup was solid for music and reasonable for movies, but the 900 is a solid performer across both areas.

Summary of the 900 performance: • The power of 900 Soundbar is markedly improved over the 700. • Voice dialog on the 900 is markedly improved over the 700. • Stereo separation on the 900 is excellent, and the reflection of sound left and right of the Soundbar is greatly improved, actually it’s amazing.

• The sound stage of the 700 is narrow compared to the 900. • Atmos adds a level of depth to the sound which must be heard to fully appreciate. You are now enveloped in sound and the placement of sound within the room is much more accurate.

You no longer feel the sound is coming from the Soundbar beneath the TV, but it is elevated and is more in-line with the activity on the screen. • The simulated Atmos for non-Atmos movies by the Soundbar, which I believe Bose call TrueSpace is excellent and makes standard Dolby 2.

0 or 5. 1 movies a pleasure to watch, rather quite immersive. • Significant difference was the clarity of audio and how it made the 700 rears and base module come alive, the rears now actually perform as they should.

• The Bose Music app now shows the audio format the soundbar is receiving. • The 300/700 bass module and 300/700 rears have come alive using them with the soundbar 900. The handoff of audio between the Soundbar and the bass/rears is more seamless and I don’t hear gaps in sound for the left and right areas of the room.

One firmware bug however and it’s worth noting. The very first 2 seconds of audio isn’t heard, the soundbar is fine then after; no audio dropouts or sync issues at all. It’s like the soundbar is sorting out what signal it’s receiving.

I have reported to Bose support who have advised it will be resolved in a future firmware update. No timeframe given on this from Bose support. Soundbar out of the box updated to firmware 3. 0. 18 and is now currently running firmware 3.

0. 22. The Soundbar 900 is well worth it. I hope this helps someone who is considering upgrading or purchasing for the first time.

About 4 months ago, I purchased the Soundbar 900 and combined it with newly purchased Base Module 700 and Surround Speakers 700. I primarily use the system connected to an Xbox Series X with Dolby Atmos enabled.

Initially, setup and tuning via ADAPTiQ in the app was fairly painless, and the sound initially was pretty great. That didn’t last long – the speaker often gets out of sync with the tv/app, requiring a power cycle via the app to have it reconnect and pick back up.

A month or two after purchase, the speaker would sometimes become flat-out unresponsive and require a hard unplug/replug power cycle to bring it back online. Besides this, audio at times is completely out of sync with video – there are settings in the app to fix latency, but they take it in the wrong direction and only make things worse.

A month or so ago, the speakers started making a distortion-sounding noise during key frequencies. I unhooked the Bass and Surround modules to confirm it was just the primary speaker. A factory reset did fix this particular issue (tried after an hour or two following other suggestions online) and I continued on.

Finally, starting just this week, the audio will randomly cut out for about 3 seconds every 10 minutes or so. I swapped back to TV speakers only to confirm this is the Bose system and not somehow the Xbox – everything works great from the TV itself (except, of course, it sounds like TV speaker quality sound).

I thought the Bose sound bar would be an easy way to get a decent-sounding atmos setup without too much effort, and for the price of the combined system, I expected everything to “just work”. This experience has tarnished what was otherwise a stellar reputation for Bose in my mind, and I will avoid their products like the plague moving forward.

Highly recommend avoiding this – either go for a cheaper soundbar or bite the bullet and do a proper high end receiver + speaker atmos setup. This one isn’t worth the headache or cost.

Bought this for my 95 year old mother to use next to her chair so she can hear tv clearly. Easy to set up and simple for her to use and python charger. Wish battery life was longer; she likes to keep tv on even when she’s doing other things and battery life doesn’t quite make it to the evening if she’s home all day.

Also bought one for my hard of hearing 85 year old father in law. Just set his up for him today, but I think it will work out well for him.

I love this speaker. I am 74 and still very active but was having difficulty understanding the TV speaker and missed many things said during my favorite shows and movies. With this speaker next to my chair I can hear every word clearly and don’t have to have the TV volume turned up real high.

Also found that I can carry the speaker to the kitchen counter and hear every word while in the kitchen (does need to be in direct line with TV).

this is a great product my mom who is 93 with hearing aids uses this. She can put it next to her chair when watching TV. This is the second one we’ve bought. The first one wore out after several years use.

I’m sure this one will last also. Hopefully if I ever need one this is the one ill buy.

Did alot of research for a bar to replace an ancient Polk IHT 3000 soundbar in the bedroom. My choices were a Polk Magnifi2, Magnifi2 max or a Bose TV soundbar or 300 with the 500 bass module. I just couldn’t see spending 900 bucks for a bar to watch TV in the bedroom on a 43″ Samsung.

I always purchase Polk as my living room 7. 1 is all Polk signature series. The reason I choose the Jbl is it simulated 5. 1, the woofer is 10″, a real monster 4x the zide of the Polk it replaced. It was also on sale for 400 compared to 600.

The bar was easy to set up to the TV, the subwoofer synced immediately, sub set to 3 as any higher rumbles the floor. The Soundstage is amazing but compared to the 12 year old it replaced it had to. I am not using this for Bluetooth, streaming etc so those features does not matter to me.

This is just to enhance the sound of a bedroom TV. It definitely does that job. There is no soundbar that can truly replace a 5. 1 or 7. 1 passive speaker setup. The one issues I had was testing to get it in wifi setup mode and connected it to the wifi.

It’s definitely a huge flaw. I had it setup thru Google home in seconds. The Jbl app needs work. Overall I’m satisfied with it, still contemplating whether I should have spent 500 more on a Bose but for this price it fits the bill.

I purchased this about a month ago, end of May 2022, and while the audio seems nice (when it works correctly) I have been having issues with the subwoofer disconnecting during use. I read online that it is common with this unit and the solution from JBL is to update the software on the soundbar, which I have done but to no avail.

I am in the process of exchanging this unit with another via JBL support, although I think this will be fruitless. It is simply a defective product for the most part with low quality. No one seemed to QC these units with low bass input which seems to be the cause of the disconnects (since it is wireless and the signal may not be as strong as necessary from TV to soundbar then to sub).

Wilson, from customer service was rude, argumentative and not very helpful. I think I will be better off just returning the unit to my local Best Buy for a refund and buying a more reliable product instead of exchanging for another unit which will most likely have the same issue.

JBL products have not been of the highest quality in my recent experience.

So I bought this to replace a Samsung 5. 1 Blu-ray player. I would say for the price, it is very good. I mean you are not looking a giant speakers (I believe they are 2. 5 inch and the woofer is maybe 8.

5) , it is only 40 watts per channel,, but this will make your TV sound better, especially because it adds bass. My Samsung TV is old so I had to use the optical connector (supplied) rather then a Bluetooth connection.

I hooked it up, turned on the TV and it was already going. Nothing to do. The woofer connect is wireless. The one page of instructions were not very good and I was trying to figure out how to connect the Bluetooth,, but it did it itself and it was ready to go.

If you buy this the remote seems to be the how command center, Go to Samsung support, find the actual manual, and at least download the part about the remote. This has 5 sound settings and I think they sounded too muffled.

But , using the remote you can access the 10 band equalizer settings. I tweaked the STANDARD setting and now it sounds really good. Separate volume control for the woofer and the bar. But the woofer button is special as is the settings button.

Get the manual. The other thing I did not know and may invest is you can change this to a 4. 1 system. There is a bonus set of speakers that go in the rear, are wired to a remote box you also put in the rear, and it will wirelessly connect to the sound bar across the room.

This is how my Bluray worked.

Pros: Much better sound than the standard TV speakers. I connected to the TV with an optical (Toslink) fibre which was very easy. Able to change the volume using my Samsung TV remote control. Soundbar powered up and down as I switched the TV on and off.

The display on the soundbar was useful but not always clear to read. Cons: I’ve returned the item and received a full refund. The Bluetooth audio kept cutting out even with my Samsung phone right next to the soundbar.

I know the fault isn’t with my phone because it works fine with my other Bluetooth speakers and it works perfectly with the replacement soundbar I have now bought instead (a different brand). For this reason I can’t recommend the soundbar as mine was faulty.

The remote control is terrible. I struggled to open it to insert the batteries and the volume control button had to be rocked forwards and backwards to change the volume and it took me ages to work that out given there were no instructions.

This sound bar is a great addition to a Samsung QLED tv. You connect it with the included optical cable and the Samsung tv automatically finds it and directs the sound there. You can then control it from your tv remote.

Just be sure when you set it up so the Samsung name is facing up. It’s easy to be confused and point the speakers down and muffle the sound. You will know it’s right when you can read the display as you face the tv.

Finally, try setting the subwoofer at different settings in your room. I like -6. It’s so powerful if it’s cranked up too loud it’s overwhelming. The “adaptive sound” setting seems like the best setting for balancing clarity in voice conversations while still having booming sound in music and movies.

If you decide later you want rear channels there is a wireless rear channel kit that adds two more speakers that connect wirelessly to this soundbar.

I have moderate hearing loss within the high frequency range so struggle to hear spoken conversation when there’s background noise including that on TV. The unit comes with a 3. 5mm audio cable and an optical audio cable (Toslink), I have a Samsung TV that’s 5 years old and the settings are either TV speaker or Audio out, using the 3.

5mm lead the TV speakers turn off and only the SRS-LSR100 speaker works, using the Toslink cable I found if I adjusted the TV setting to Audio out then back to TV speaker both the TV and SRS-LSR100 speakers work together.

I have the SRS-LSR100 base placed under the TV cabinet so it can’t be seen, I’ve used another power adapter and plugged the SRS-LSR100 speaker in close to where I sit. You only get one power lead with this speaker which is a shame but the speaker can recharged by placing it back on to the base station, although the way I have set up the speaker, I don’t need to worry about charging.

I’ve rated this five stars as it was simple to set up and thankfully, I can now hear speech on the TV again even when scenes have noisy background sounds. The Sony SRS-LSR100 speaker has a large on / off button that doubles up as a volume knob which is handy for films where background scenes are very noisy and I need to increase the voice sounds.

I’ve seen some reviews where people are still struggling to hear speech clearly, I would suggest that the instructions are not 100% clear and two things to try are; i) Voice zoom – If you use the speaker on battery the voice zoom drastically reduces, if you plug the speaker into the mains its so much better.

ii) Voice zoom – When turned on this boosts the spoken voice, it’s a small button on the back of the speaker, when switched on a green LED indicates, the good news is you only have to do this once.

I bought this device to solve one problem which has plagued me when watching movies, the background music is so loud you can’t hear the speech. why movie makers do this I don’t know, and it happens on quite a few movies too, other people I have told about this product have said “we have the same problem too with movies” so Sony HAS been clever in making this product really.

Firstly, I charged it up fully then the actual pairing with my Panasonic TV was SO easy, the first code that they stated worked first time ! I then connected it to the TV via the optical sound cable as suggested.

When I first listened to the introduction music of a movie everything was fine, but when speech came on it became very “echoey” to the point of being very annoying, so I used the mute button for the TV Speakers on the Sony, and that solved it, but of course then you loose the “fullness” of the TV speakers, by the way I did remove any enhancements on the TV for the TV speaker, like surround sound just to make sure that was not causing the echo and whether the surround sound was on or off made very little perceivable difference to the echo.

Next I watched a movie and used the little ‘voice zoom’ button on the back of the speaker and “yes” the speech DID became more prominent and the music was subdued. a total success there ! Being able to change channels etc.

etc. on the Sony speaker was really a bonus, you don’t need the TV remote near you at all, plus the sound from the speakers was excellent too, especially the speech. When you have finished with it, just pop it back on it’s charger stand to recharge, so it’s ready for next time.

I used it for 6 hours with no problem and I doubt many people would want to watch TV for much longer really. All in all I DO love it, although I suspect I will have to turn off the TV speakers when I am using it because of the ‘speech echo problem’, but I’m not sure this is because of the Sony Speaker or because it isn’t 100% with my TV, but I am puzzled as to why music doesn’t suffer from the problem just speech.

It is very rare I don’t give 5 stars to a Sony product, but I am afraid I have to drop a star this time – it is a good product overall, but if you use this in the room with other people the echo would become annoying to everyone.

be interesting to see if anyone else has this problem, especially if they have a Panasonic TV but in all fairness the TV is 10 years old, but was the top of the range model at the time (Full 1080p HD etc).

This of course is MY experience, other people with another make or a newer TV might not have a problem at all, but in all fairness I have to report what I personally experiences with the product, and even with this problem I wouldn’t send it back, as it still ‘does the job’.

I’m really happy I bought this despite having trouble setting it up and finding it doesn’t work perfectly with my Samsung QE49Q60R (2019) QLED HDR 4K Ultra HD Smart TV bought about six months earlier.

You should be wary that the device may not integrate well with non-Sony TVs. I had trouble setting mine up but finally got it to work after resetting everything. With an optical cable connection, I managed to get good sound through to the device with non-HD channels and the remote controls worked.

It does not work with my TV’s HD channels or with online content using the TV’s software. It DOES work if I watch TV, including HD, and online content via my Humax HDR through the TV. (I prefer using the Humax anyway so I can pause and rewind TV.

) The sound quality is very good – better than the TV speaker. It’s good for listening with the speaker close to me and so bothering my partner less. It works in parts of my kitchen, which is a few metres away.

I particularly like being able to connect headphones to the device so I can watch without the sound disturbing my partner in the same room.
