20 Best Winter Horse Riding Gloves (2023 Updated)

These gloves are fantastic. I can’t stand bulk on my hands but I also ride when it’s pretty cold out. These gloves keep my hands warm on below freezing temperatures and I don’t notice them any more than my summer gloves.

These are also very grippy which is VERY helpful. On rubber reins the grip is excellent and has helped me be more consistent with my hands. For as long as this brand is in business I won’t ever buy a different winter glove! I fell in between sizes and went up a size so they are a little big – not sure if it would have been better to go down a size.

This is my 2nd pair of Roeckl gloves. I still have my original pair that I bought 14 years ago! The grippy coating eventually wore off, but no holes. This is incredible, considering that I used them for everything from riding and longing to moving hay bales.

These gloves are comfortable and they wear like iron. I expect this new pair will last just as long.

i thought the price was a lot, but these gloves are worth EVERY PENNY. the fleece lining is cooling yet warm at the same time, so i wear in all seasons! super grippy and all round practical and, very snazzy, and comfy! if your looking for a lasting good quality riding glove, theses are great! + they are great for day barn chores aswell as riding! 100/10 recommend!.

I love these gloves. I bought 2 pairs for my self, my 2-daughters. Everyone loves them. They keep your hands warm, you can get them wet, they are water proof. They hold up a long time on a farm.

I’ve been looking for a set of gloves to wear for riding and working in the barn. I got these from a recommendation and I have really enjoyed them so far! I wore them in 24 F weather and my hands actually got too warm so I had to take them off for a few minutes.

For work gloves they had good traction and durability. They’re a tad expensive, but I’d rather pay for the good quality product that will last. Looking forward to seeing how these hold up over winter!.

I purchased these gloves after watching the video about them. I would love to find gloves that are both warm and have manual finger dexterity for all the latches, snaps, buckles, etc! Can’t stand having to take my gloves off to unlatch a door or put on a halter! The manual dexterity looked good but would they be warm enough? I was pleasantly surprised! Down to 35 degrees or so, they were great.

From 10 degrees to 35, they were still warm if I used a silk liner! (Especially after I warmed up!) At 10 degrees and colder, I did have to switch over to the big clunky gloves. Another concern was water resistance, particularly in the cold weather.

They are definitely not waterproof, but if you get a little water on them they are fine. Big plus, they dry out very quickly!! So if you get them a little wet, they won’t take days to dry like some gloves.

One last thing, they are so soft and comfortable inside, and get softer with wear. Love them so much I bought a pair for my father for Christmas!.

I’m digging these gloves! Much warmer than I thought they’d be. They won’t work (for me) in really cold weather, and no, they are not waterproof, but they are great for temps in the mid-20s, and 30s.

And I put some of my lanolin-based leather conditioner on them which makes water bead up so they are water “resistant. ” I didn’t plan to ride in them, just do barn work, but I forgot I had them on one day, and ended up riding in them.

It wasn’t until I got off the horse that I realized I’d ridden in them-Ha! So, yeah, they are soft, warm, multi-purpose gloves, and my current favorite pair. Also, I got them in my regular glove size and they were a tad tight at first, but they are actual leather, and they stretch and shape themselves to your hand with the first wearing.

These are amazing! They were recommended by a friend and I love them. I ride horses in Maine and even on the super cold days my hands are warm when I ride.

I have had these gloves for about a month now and I use them on several different horses everyday. They have held up amazingly. They are durable enough for schooling but nice enough for showing. I love the way they fit and the feel through the reins.

Prior to getting these I refused to wear gloves while riding unless I was showing because I hated that I wasn’t able to fully feel the reins through the gloves. This has not been an issue with these whatsoever! My only complaint is they can get a little warm when riding, but it is by no means unbearable.

I’ve had three pairs of these the first pair wore out after many years of use and now I rotate the two pairs I have left. My hands get sweaty so they get stinky so I take them home and hand wash them in a cup of dawn and hot water, then let them hang dry.

They’re the most comfortable and durable gloves I’ve used, I splurged on a pair of samshield gloves from personally preppy and they started falling apart after just a month or two and were nowhere near as breathable.

These gloves are worth every penny.

When I bought these gloves, I had high expectations on the durability because of how nice they looked but these gloves didn’t even last 3 months. They ripped in all places that could possibly rip and when putting them on one day they completely fell apart.

I am astonished at all of the great reviews on these gloves. I have had 25 dollar gloves from my local tack store that have lasted 3 years, and also Rockel gloves that have lasted even longer. I ride around 3-4 times a week and these gloves couldn’t keep up.

Worst gloves for the price! You will be better off getting cheaper ones for better durability!.

This is my 5th pair of these gloves over the years and they are my absolute favorite. This time I purchased them in white for dressage but I’ve also bought the black and use them as my go-to show gloves.

I love that they are real leather (I’m not a fan of faux leather) on the back and have grippy palms.

I hate wearing gloves but these are comfortable and I can still move and feel things with these on. These are a good mix of being able to feel the reins but still protecting my hands. I would definitely buy these again and also recommend them to others.

This is my favorite brand of riding glove, and I have several pairs of their different styles. I LOVE the two-toned “bay” colors on this pair. The material feels wonderful on my hands and is very durable and “sticky” to keep a good grip on the reins.

I measure a 7, but I always buy 7 1/2 just to keep the finger tips intact a little while longer.

nice gloves, i got them for free when i ordered a new pair of riding gloves. my only options were xl or xs so i got an XL. I am usually a medium or 8 in gloves so these are pretty big but they work well for barn chores.

I use them now to tack up instead of tacking up in my riding gloves. I would buy them again in my size. They are very soft and keep my hands warm. Seem to be very durable as well.

I hate to leave this review, however it needs to be said. These gloves while being lovely and soft are not built to last. Both gloves ripped along the same seam before I even finished the first day of barn work.

I ordered large specifically so they would be roomy and comfortable so there is no reason why they should have ripped other than very poor construction. I am a huge fan of noble equestrian and am very disappointed in these gloves.

These gloves are a perfect weight for our southern winters. We go from high 70s one day to low 30s, high 20s the next. They flex & give free range of motion.

Seem good quality, lightweight, flexible, breathable. Not sure how durable as have not tried yet. Based on sizing guide I would have been extra small, luckily I ordered several pairs as actually two sizes up from that.

Perhaps I measured the wrong ‘widest part of hand’! Returns process seems really easy though so no problem there.

A repeat purchase! I’ve bought these several times over the years. They are so useful and well made and useful for anywhere requiring a good grip, as well as riding.

very small, I have previously brought these gloves, these come up small and the straps do not fasten across the wrists, very disappointed. to try on you have to remove all packaging, so i am not able to return.

I’ve owned a few pairs of these gloves and absolutely love them. My first pair I wore 7 days a week, riding multiple horse and wore them while doing barn chores. They lasted two years. I struggle with Raynaud’s Phenomenon (poor circulation in my hands) so my hands are always cold, and completely numb when it’s actually cold out.

These gloves actually work to keep my hands warm, but don’t get too hot either. I will never buy a different pair of winter gloves again.

I’ve been looking for a warm winter riding glove and this seems to be the hit! As long as they are kept in a warm place, they’ll stay warm while riding/working around the barn! They are not that warm if outside in cold wind, too bad they don’t have a fur outside like our furry friends, but they work great for moderate cold ridingwork.

The gloves are very comfortable and so far holding up well. I don’t do a lot of work in them however. I have another pair for work. It isn’t good to grab hay while wearing them as the hay sticks to the inside of the glove.

They are good for cold but not freezing cold weather.

I have tried a few pairs of Noble gloves and the only ones I have truly enjoyed wearing are the Perfect Fit gloves. These had an ok fit and seem to keep the hand moderately cooled. The main thing was after only a few rides the “scratchy stubs” for itching the horse fell off.

If you like this style of glove, then buy it! If you prefer the stretchy, lyrca-like material then you won’t like these gloves. Overall they aren’t bad but just don’t compare to my favorites.

I actually got these gloves for free from a sale that was going on, and I must say: I LOVE THEM! Such a great feel on the reins and they are very breathable in the summer. They are so comfortable! I have ridden in them 5-6 days/week for at least a year now and am only now transitioning to a new pair.

Will continue to buy again and again!.

I got these gloves for free in a sale but I actually really like them. They are grippy and durable, and really breathable. I would say they run a hair small so if you are between sizes order a size up.

also, if you have a REALLY strong horse that leaves your hands bleeding without gloves then I would maybe try out a different pair of noble equestrian gloves (the perfect fit gloves are awesome too) Other wise they are perfect with really strong velcro.

Ive had these gloves many times to work at a yard, riding and looking after horses. Im very disappointed that they seem thinner and definitely not as warm as they used to be. Expensive in this day and age!.

Look nice and shinny but very thin and light. Dont know how long it will last. have no vilkro to stick it on the floor therefore it is out of place most of the time.

These are my favourite gloves EVER! I only took one star off because these were a replacement pair as the first pair only lasted one summer, and I am only riding one horse 5 or 6 times a week so was disappointed that they wore out so quickly, especially as they are very expensive.

I expect this of the £20 gloves but not of super expensive gloves.

Very comfortable, very grippy. LIke a second skin. I wasnt sure what size Id need but the instructions given here worked perfectly for me.

These are my favorite gloves because they stand up to a lot of abuse and are incredibly comfortable to wear. They are proportioned well for average-sized hands. They don’t collect hay or shavings and they wash up really well; I throw them in a cold water load and hang dry them.

The velcro on the wrist doesn’t catch most fabrics; I wear long sleeves year-round, so I would notice and it would drive me nuts. They’re comfortable to wear year round (though of course in truly cold or truly hot weather you might want something warmer/cooler).

They have just the right amount of “feel” for riding (even with double reins) and doing small buckles, but also stand up to high-octane longing when a certain chestnut mare has decided she’s a kite, not a dressage horse.

Also, the nobby part of the wrist closure is NOT over my wrist bone, which I’m very thankful for; some brands have the wrist closure the other way and so it digs into my wrist, but not these. Perhaps also helpful: I like the twill fabric on the backs of the gloves for scratching my nose.

I’ve tried a number of different brands of gloves, but I always come back to these. They fit me the best and hold up the best. The color does not leech onto the skin, nor does the fabric or tacky-grippy stuff break down into dust.

I don’t even mind wearing them when they get wet, although I do own multiple pairs of gloves so I can change as necessary. I will also say that I’ve been buying and wearing these gloves for the last 15 years and the craftsmanship and fit have been consistent the entire time.

I’m very hard on gloves: I wear them from the moment I walk into the barn in the morning until I shut off the lights at night, while I teach, do chores, longing, and riding. These are not designed to be work gloves, but they hold up to it really well.

These gloves are decently warm, but the fingers are too long. Specifically the ring finger. Too long by like half an inch. The other fingers aren’t so bad. They also are quite stiff and close on the wrist and so if I move my wrist/hand a certain way they trigger the panic button on my apple watch which then has to result in me slamming on the breaks to cancel.

Ordered these gloves from my daughter. She is 12 and her regular size is seven. This goes for all her riding gloves. However the extreme seams in this particular style glove made it impossible for her to get it on her hand comfortably.

She absolutely did not like how it felt and they will be returned.

I’ve ordered them for colder months and they seem warm enough to be fit for purpose. They fit snug on my hands and do not slide/move around. Reinforced with PU leather kind of fabric between the fingers where the bridle goes.

The fingers are sown a bit wonky/uneven but overall it does not cause issues.

I have owned many, many pairs of these gloves over the years. While I’ve always felt they were too bulky for riding, I have relied on them for barn chores for ages- they were warm, waterproof and durable.

Having almost worn out my current pair, I ordered new ones recently and just wore them today. Not impressed at all. First, SSG has changed the sizing. My old gloves are clearly tagged as “size 10”- a size larger than I usually wear, but I had always felt that these ran small.

Now, the sizing is S, M, L, XL. I should fit in a L, but reviews said they ran small, so I ordered an XL. They’re huge! I just wore them for several hours of barn chores, it is 4 degrees outside, and my fingers were cold within 20 minutes.

Looks like it’s time to find new winter barn gloves!.

I bought these gloves when I lived in Maine and they’re the BEST winter gloves I’ve ever owned. I have had them 10 years now. They still fit, are still warm. Only downside is they’ve lost some of their grip from me washing them through the years.

Can still ride in them just can’t pick stalls wearing them. I HIGHLY recommend these gloves! (Also, I mow live in FL and still wear these regularly in the winter).

The two days that we have needed to use them in Texas they felt good. They look very promising just have not had enough time to give a great review because we?ve only had two days of freezing nights and mornings to work with the horses and chores I think I bought at least a pair.

And I am going to go back and order several more. I?m giving them as gifts to my barn group and two people who work outside during the winter.

These are great for horse care and barn work. I haven’t used them for riding as my horse is laid up but think they would be fine with my dimpled rubber reins. Also nice for early and late dog walking.

Tempted to buy another pair so I can have at barn and home and I don’t have to carry back and forth.

Comfortable to ride in. Blocks wind and keeps hands warm in late fall and early winter. You will want warmer gloves when temp is below 40 degrees.

Nice to wear ,warm and cozy yet still light enough to have a good feel on the reins . Looks stylish also.
