20 Best Winter Boots For Toddlers (2023 Updated)

I purchased these winter boots for my toddler and she loves them. They are lined inside with a cosy material and they are comfortable and keep her feet secure and also they are waterproof. They also cover well and the height of the boot is perfect.

It also has a nice closure at the top so that snow and rain will not get in! It is so important that the winter boots prevent water from coming in because of the rain and snow we get here in Canada. I know she will enjoy them and she will make good use of them playing outside and staying warm and cosy.

I bought these a couple months early in preparation for a trip to the snow. I knew my son was a size 5, so I didn’t bother to try them on. Absolutely could NOT get his foot into the boot with the liners in.

Pulled them out, and tried to put them on like socks before putting them in the boot. The liners probably equated a size 3. There was no way my son’s foot was getting in them. We ended up doing multiple layers of socks, and that seem to work.

The outer shell of the boots is super sturdy. Columbia just needs to get their sizing right. I wish I would’ve tried them on sooner, because now I am out of my return window.

I bought these for me son and daughter last year and then again this year. These are these type of boots they prefer even when other more expensive boots were looked at too. I like how the insert is removable (helps with drying out…dry feet are warm feet!) and you can cinch the top so snow doesn’t get in as boots are put on after snow pants and not many kids take the time to put their snow pants over the tops of their boots.

They are comfortable and keep their feet warm while playing in the snow. For a big boot they are not too heavy either so easy to walk in. Mind you I do have a second pair of boots for my son who wants to run around (sports) at recess and they are awkward if you are trying to play road hockey.

childs shoe size is 6 on a variety of other boots and shoes but had to buy a size 10 in this boot as the liner is so small, and we want to get a full season and maybe one next year out of this boot. Outer seems to be well made and sturdy and the grip is awesome.

But, sizing is not true and very misleading. Shes not been outside in them yet and we have 2 feet of snow and its. -15 outside so still need to see how they are for warmth. Liner seems a little on the thin side.

We also skidoo and our 3 year old grandchild comes with us. We put Alpaca socks on the childs feet so they are warm, so hopefully these boots will stand up to the -32 winters we sometimes experience here in Northern Ontario.

A warm waterproof winter boot that’s not bulky and my picky toddler actually loves? YUP. These boots are magic. I love that they have a slim profile and great traction so my 3-year-old stays sturdy whatever she’s getting into.

She wears them to school in winter, sledding, and romping around the snowy backyard.

Super sturdy. Has helped my new walker toddler thrive and run! Love that they are water resistant. A little pricey is the only negative.

Uggs and Koolaburra are amazing in keeping you warm and stylish. so Why don’t they correct the design flaw that makes it nearly impossible to put the boot on through the NARROW shaft unless you have a “Heavy-duty” metal Shoe Horn!! Really.

they must know??? why make us torture ourselves in the effort of putting on the boots! Mind you, I have an average/normal. not wide foot. A BIG HINT is : usually if the Boots are difficult to put on; the fact that you NEVER see the models or presenters actually putting the boot on! On and off is a Big Deal, especially without a strap on the heel to assist.

Definitely NOT a gift for Grandma or anyone with arthritis. although comfortable once you get into the boot. The boots are beautiful and uniquely different in design; so I’ll just use my husbands shoe Horn.

But of course we all know that Looking Cute is “The Life of us Fashionistas”.

I am a smaller 8. 5 and I ordered them in 8. They DO have an exceptional amount of packing (there is a whole cardboard piece that you have to yank out, almost aggressively, of what would be the top of the foot).

I have found that being a smaller 8. 5, UGG I wear an 8, if you have purchased the Cougar snow boots on QVC and find the size 9 too big (I have had to return for an 8 in those waterproof boots) I would purchase this boot in an 8.

The ankle “shove” was very real at first but I also found after a few good shoves (with success) they did loosen and fit well. Now, that being said, even on the first “shove” the boot was comfortable once on.

It was just the tight push through that had to form to my foot. I highly recommend purchasing this and love mine after giving them a forming chance. UGG is know to shape to the form of the foot as it is worn and I have found this sister brand to follow in the same fashion.

If you own other UGG products, order same as you have in the past and you will not be disappointed.

I only shop and have shopped Carter’s and Oshkosh for my daughter (4 1/2 yrs old) so I know how to expect things. For those who don’t shop here much note that these are first, grey as stated. They look purplish on the website.

Also note they are not high tops or even high at all, comes right above the ankle. These are exactly what I wanted but trying to help out with my review 🙂 The tips are glittery, and the kind of glitter that doesn’t come off, hooray! Love that about Carter’s brand.

Bottom tread is perfect for slippery Winter. I highly recommend these and all Carter’s products. All I buy, great quality, hold up, and clean up amazingly! Dear Carter’s, please get half sizes in shoes! I really need that option and can’t get it here.

This is the 2nd season I’ve bought these boots for my son! He loves them! They have great traction and enough warmth to use in the colder months. Great for everyday use when you don’t want to put them in clunky snow boots! Hope to keep buying new ones every fall season! They are also very adorable on and march with almost everything! A must have!.

Just received these in the mail today. They actually have grey sparkles at the top part of the boot. They are cuter in person. The boot goes up more then the ones like these that they had a couple years ago.

Also they have laces which I couldn’t tell by looking at the picture.

The twins love them. In time for the snow and cold weather tomorrow.

My daughter loves these snow boots. A little smaller then expected so will only last this winter.

I first purchased these boots in pink 2 years ago for my oldest granddaughter for Christmas. I just purchased again for both granddaughters. The oldest one loved her first pair so this time I got her the tan ones because they will go with more of her outfits.

I got pink for the youngest and I think she will love them also. These are a great value. They fit well (true to size).

I purchased the light up boots for my granddaughter as a Christmas gift. These boots will definitely be a huge hit. She is quite the sassy little girl. Perfect addition to tjis mini fashionista.

I bought a pair of these boots a year ago for my granddaughter. I was overjoyed to see they were still available as she has outgrown them. This year I purchased a pair for all 3 of my grandchildren. They love the lights and the boots are nice and warm.

I can’t answer all the questions about these boots because they are a Christmas present for my granddaughter. I can say that they are absolutely adorable. I love the colors. They certainly are very well made.

They look like they will keep her little feet warm & dry in snowy weather. I can’t wait to see them on her.

We had bought these same boots two years in a row. Look great even after a whole winter of using them daily. Kept her feet dry! Will continue to buy. We also get lots of compliments on how cute the grey and pink ones are!.

The are adorable on my toddler. This is the first time putting her in snow boots and I thought she’d throw a fit. But they were easy to get on with the zipper & Velcro. She’s typically a 9, and these are 9 with a bit of room to grow.

We’ll see how they work in the snow but so far I think they are great.

I bought them last year and they are perfect for a Cali winter. My toddler loves them. I bought 7.5 and hes a 7 now. They are great for some room to grow into for the holidays.

To be expected. Velcro is a bit misaligned but Cute and fit my three year old who wears size 23 or 6.5-7

I was skeptical that these boots would fit because when I did the measurements, it technically told me they wouldn’t fit around the ankle of my daughters AFOs but, because I was desperate to find something I sized up two sizes and ordered them anyways.

I am so glad I did! These boots are phenomenal. We took the insole out (as we do with the sneaks as well) and they fit like a glove. Warm, stylish and wonderful quality boot. My daughter is so proud to wear them and not need assistance at school to get herself ready for outdoor play, she can manage fully independently and loves them.

Our family spends lots of time outdoors, and living in Seattle, that means dealing with lots of wet weather (rain and snow). To join in, our AFO-wearing 6-year-old has had to either wear her regular canvas BILLY shoes, or wear boots without her AFO — neither of those options is ideal.

These BILLY winter boots are nothing short of LIFE CHANGING. These are real winter boots — warm, waterproof, and with excellent tread — that also fit perfectly over her AFO. She’s already stress-tested them extensively this winter and they have held up beautifully.

Now she’s able to run and play with the rest of us! She does wear one size larger than in her canvas BILLY shoes (she’s a size 1 in canvas shoes but a size 2 in these boots).

I actually purchased these this fall for my grandson. His feet grow so fast (2 years old) so I ordered 2 sizes larger than what he was wearing at the time. He has been so excited to wear them to play in this years first snow and it happened this weekend! They are a great fit and will get him through this winter.

His feet stayed toasty and he ran all over the back yard with his dad for about 2 hours (snowballs, snowmen and driving his trucks in the snow). Last week he became a big brother so after he outgrows them, little brother will be able to wear them in a couple of years too.

These Kamik boots seem as if they are perfect for my 3 years old- the inside is so soft, warm & fuzzy. Seems like they would be waterproof for our East Coast wet snows- however, I didn’t realize the sizing would be off- small by one size.

Took a chance with the size 8 (which is what size he wears) bc of the sale ($22) – but will have to return bc he actually needs a size 9 (that’s not available from REI- I did order from elsewhere and the size 9’s work well with winter socks) Would’ve been nice to know there is a full size discrepancy- as well as a $6 return shipping cost deducted from final return amount- so maybe these size 8’s will just be donated to our local ‘Baby Pantry Food/supply bank’ (as this winter is expected to be “unreasonably frigid & cold” in Virginia).

I bought these last year for my toddler and was so happy with them! I bought them again for this winter. They are relatively light for a winter boot, warm, easy to wipe clean if it gets muddy but most importantly easy to slip his feet in and secure.

The price point is also good for the quality. Will buy again in future.

These shoes are SO amazing that I bought a second pair. They’re like a cross between having an awesome cushiony sneaker and a winter boot. You know how winter boots often have some heel slip or slop when you walk? Not these.

These fit amazingly and stay on your foot like sneakers do, but with the added benefit of being a warm winter boot. They’re lightweight, too. I love how easy they are to slip on and off, and with the slippery fabric of the shoes, the laces slide tight (and open) really fast.

No unlacing for 2 minutes just to get your feet out of your shoes. They really are THE PERFECT shoes that I’ve been searching everywhere for. Bonus… they look super cute! A note: I haven’t worn these on trail.

I have other shoes for that. These are my “around town/dog walking/grocery getting when it’s raining/snowing” shoes and they are awesome. They repel water and so far no water spots or discoloration on my tan pair (been wearing for several months).

They have stood up to light snow and big puddles with no problems. Order your normal Sorel size – they are true to Sorel size & fit (which is about 1/2 size larger than your normal shoe size).

It seems there are a lot of issues around Sorel sizing. A few years ago I bought the Joan of Arc boot a whole size bigger than normal because the reviews said they run small. Normal size for me is 6 at Target, Nike, New Balance, Chaco, Merrell, and generally everywhere.

I bought 7’s then and STILL wish I would have gone smaller. I bought these in a size 6 and at first wished I would have bought them in 6. 5’s. They were a little tight in the toe (width and length). I changed into thin ankle socks (I had thicker wool on) and wore them around the house for the day.

Not only did they loosen just a bit by breaking them in, I also realized I wouldn’t have wanted to wear thicker socks anyway because the boots were so warm. I think I could have enjoyed a 6. 5 but am satisfied with my 6’s.

So, overall, I would recommend either buying your normal size or a 1/2 size up (especially with thicker socks)- NOT a full size up. Hope that helps!.

I bought these boots during quarantine when I wasn’t venturing outside for long stretches during winter. This was the first winter where I was back at my job, commuting every day and spending hours walking around outside in an urban area.

These boots are definitely warm and comfortable, but they’re not waterproof. I didn’t realize it until I spent way more time wearing them, which is my mistake, but I wanted to warn others who need a truly waterproof boot.

If you step into a decent-sized puddle or walk through snow and wait a few minutes for the snow on your boot to melt, you will likely feel some moisture in your socks. When it’s cold outside, this moisture makes the insulation less effective—on longer days, my feet ended up wet and cold until I got home.

Now I’m looking for something with more of a rubber shell around the foot area to avoid this issue.

I purchased multiple pairs for my grandchildren. The girls were so excited and the parents like the fact they were easy to spot at night, because of the colorful lighted soles. I have always been happy with all the merchandise that I’ve purchased through the years.

I ordered two pairs of these boots for my 4-year-old granddaughters. I purchased two pairs last year and I needed a larger size this year. They are cute boots, and I would recommend this product.

Maybe a bit small but I think they’re close to the sizing chart. My daughter likes them. She doesn’t complain about her feet hurting or being cold.

I was looking for snow boots that are light and warm. These boots meet both criteria. Happy with this purchase.

We have tried several brands of kids winter boots. I have to say Stonz is one of the best, or the best lol. The boots are so lightweight. They are easier to put on and take off without kids using their little hands, which is really convenient in the winter when they have their mittens on.

For us parents, the exterior is very easy to clean. Their previous pairs last for almost two winters and they are still in good shape!.

We are very glad we sized up x2 in these. I bought size 13 for my size-11-wearing 4 year old, and she didn’t mind a bit, with thick socks, until her shoe size went up to 12 (age 5) in normal shoes: her Stonz boots size 13 are now snug no matter what socks she wears.

The boots have all the advantages described by other reviewers – very warm, very lightweight, super easy to step into and out of. We have a manufacturing defect on one of them, though, with the stitching where the rubber meets the nylon on the heel: it was lumpy and I ignored it at first, and now I regret it because the stitches have come out and there’s a gappy 1-inch hole at the top of her heel, 1 year after purchasing.

So have a close look when you get these to compare the heel stitching. I plan to take MEC up on their guarantee even though it’s been a year, because this isn’t wear-and-tear damage and at this price point i expected these to last more than one winter.

The only true design flaw for which I’m removing a star is, according to the manufacturer’s instructions, the liners are not washable (machine- or hand-). We are careful to remove the to dry out well overnight if they get wet.

But these are really great boots and, with well-fitting snow pants, up until the stitching issue, snow rarely got into the boot.

I bought these for my daughter and when I opened them up and checked the clip, the clip immediately cracked in one spot. Well was really good about it and within the day offered to send me a new pair and to keep the broken pair free of Shipping back.

I got the new pair in a few days and they were perfect. The original pair must have been defective. Love the boots! I was looking for Stonz but my daughter had grown out of the Scout Stonz and these ones are even better! I tried buying a cheaper alternative but honestly Stonz are the best!.

Durable boot for kids. I like that the rubber makes the top of this shoe completely waterproof and is thick and durable to withstand all that my son will put this boot through. My son did say that the boot was a little difficut to walk in b/c of the thick sole.

The removable boot liner also make it difficult to put on as it would collapse when he stuck his foot in or would partially come out when he took his foot out. Overall though, well constructed, durable, and should last through the winter and keeps his feet warm.

This was the first year needing to buy by 5 year REAL sturdy snow boots. Now that he is old enough to dive into every snow mound and stomp on every snowball – it was time to do some shopping. After reading tons of reviews and research all different brands, I decided that for the price, purpose and age of my son – going with a family classic like Totes would be the way to go.

And I’m pleased to say we made the right choice! My son wears them with pride and in a Chicago winter has yet to come home with wet feet. 100% satisfied. The color is perfect as well!.

I bought these boots for my 3 year old nephew in January 2020. I planned on taking him to the aquarium (in Chicago), but my sister forgot to pack anything other than gym shoes. I bought the black pair because the store was very limited in selection for him, but I’m glad I bought them.

He was so excited to be able to play in the snow. When we got back home, he didn’t want to take them off. My sister tells me that he wants to wear them all the time. The boots proved to be comfortable as we walked around the aquarium for hours, and there were no complaints.

These boots are not waterproof. I purchased them several months ago for my active 8 year old son. He loves the color and the fact that they are light weight. A little difficult to pull on, but that part is manageable.

What frustrates me is the fact that I spent so much money on a pair of boots that will likely last only one season and they are not as described. I met with someone in store to discuss options and these were clearly presented and sold to me as waterproof boots.

They are not even water resistant. My son is outside in freezing weather and when he comes inside, they are soaked through completely. As in a full puddle inside, with no removable liner. When he wears them to school, I have now found out that he walks around all day with wet feet.

I am even putting them on my heater to dry out and three days later they are still soaked through. Come on Bean, you can do better!.

These boots are not waterproof. Maybe water-resistant, but not waterproof. I was super excited to finally find light-weight waterproof boots. But when my kids walk through wet snow or slush, these boots leak.

I bought two pairs (for two kids), so I have had time to see how they work. Forget walking through small puddles that happen when snow melts – these boots will leak through completely. I contacted customer service about this, and immediately got a response telling me that maybe my kids’ feet are sweating in the boots, etc.

, etc. My kids’ feet are soaked through (if they walk through a puddle), or I can see clear wet spots on their socks, especially around the heel, if they walk through slush. While I appreciate having a lightweight winter boot, there are plenty of water-resistant lightweight options for a much smaller price.

Or you can get a pair of truly waterproof boots for the same price, they are just really heavy (we own those as well, so I can compare the performance as well as the weight). Additionally, these boots are hard to get into: one of my kids cannot get into his without an adult helping him push his heel all the way in, with a lot of effort (we bought a size up for him, and his feet are regular width).

The other kids has narrow feet and can put on these boots himself.

Love this boots! I was looking for a pair of waterproof boots for my Alaska trips that is also lightweight and easy to put on/take off for flexibility and this pair is exactly what I need. Although lightweight, this pair of boots is mighty and easily kept my feet dry and warm even hours in 20 degrees weather.

The grip on slippery surface is also decent and is sufficient for my entire excursion in Alaska. Lastly, have to give a special shout out to amazing service from the gentleman that was helping me in shoes department as I almost gave up and walk out of the store empty handed as it was late March and I couldnt find what I was looking for since spring collection is already out.

My granddaughter wore these as soon as she got them. They are warm and the inside lining is soft. Definitely waterproof since she had to try them out on every puddle she could find

Really seem well made. Colors are really nice. Other than that I bought them for next year for my grand daughter. The price was really good., and I couldn’t pass it up.

I bought these for my daughters and was very nervous about the sizing on them. But they fit both of them great! They seem to be very good quality and warm! We can’t wait to try them out in the snow!
