20 Best Wines For Turkey Dinner (2023 Updated)

LOVE IT!!! WHAT CAN I SAY? It’s not a light, smooth French Malbec. But it’s not a harsh, heavy classic California cabernet, and it’s not a heavy sweet America’s merlot, and itsnt that thick sweet Syrah.

PERFECT RED TABLE WINE! You can always trust BAREFOOT to be ok for classic style California wines cheap. Especially their reds, I prefer their reds. But their Malbec is just hands down my favorite!!! And Malbec is not a California classic as far as I know.

They’re probably getting the grapes from Argentina? I really dunno??? Not going on my holiday table! But it will be around in the kitchen and cooled available to all. and for any red wine lovers that drop by.

It’s not available locally to me. But if I havw a party with red wine lovers, I’d make the drive to go stock up.

is there anything better than a good tasting merlot with a filet mignon? how about a great tasting merlot that doesn’t break the bank as well? this one is it. I like mine room temperature, however some enjoy this merlot chilled.

either way, snazzy up steak night with your better half and a bottle of good wine. pop in a tape of “breakfast at Tiffany’s” in the ol’vcr and have another bottle of wine for dessert😎☺.

It’s just. ok. i don’t know what I don’t like about it. Maybe it’s that you need half a glass before it settles into your pallet. I am sure with the right meal it would work better. Maybe a steak or something.

If it was on sale I would probably get it again. I don’t love it or hate it. It isn’t my first choice in reds, but better than most. My review is terrible, I’m sorry.

This White Chardonnay is not good, in my opinion. It has a very sharp taste and a little bit of an aftertaste. I drank it because my husband bought it, but it is not that good. I wish it had a better taste.

The box says it has a “focused and complex finish. ” Unfortunately, I think the finish leaves a lot to be desired. It’s not horrible, but it’s not as good as the Pinot Grigio. I asked my husband not to repurchase this wine, so, unfortunately, I cannot in good conscience recommend it.

Black Box Chardonnay is one of the better box wines — actually, the tastiest one I’ve had, and with enough depth of flavor that it goes well with food or by itself. It does what a box wine is supposed to do and does it nicely: it’s relatively inexpensive, it stays tasty for quite some time after it’s opened (at about 2 weeks it starts to taste strange), and (lying on its back) it fits tidily into the refrigerator without leaking.

The unopened boxes are easy to store, also — mine are waiting under the bathroom sink.

Black Box does a good job with some of the fuller-bodied reds, so it’s no surprise that their Chardonnay also is good. It’s not very complex, but it is more minerally like an old-world Chard than super buttery like a California Chard.

I like that. But, I can also pair it with a nice chicken menu.

San Antonio Winery’s Cardinale American Sweet Red wine is Ah-MAZING. This will be loved and cherished by those who say they “don’t like wine”, for those who like wine *as* the desert (sweet wine lovers), and/or for those who don’t know what wines they like yet.

It is the *intro of all intros* to wine — without getting that scrunchy-face that comes with the “alcohol taste” that usually accompanies dry wines, or that metallic taste that comes with a lot of cheep wines.

That being said, this has good amount of alcohol at 11. 5% by volume, but the amazing thing is — you don’t taste it. You just have this grape-y, wonderfully sweet, aromatic juice that makes you feel slightly euphoric after the second glass.

It’s wonderful. If you’re having a baby shower / bridal shower / book club / Netflix-for-one couch party, this is the wine for you. Hands down, this is my favorite wine. I only wish I could buy bigger bottles!!.

I am giving this a 4 because while I did not enjoy it that much. I am just beginning to try out reds. I was hoping this would be what I was looking for (sweet, not too much of that wine after taste).

It was just not it, however, my boyfriend really enjoyed it. So I think that for the right person it would be a very good wine.

So “why” then, aren’t there reviews with any “cons” ??? OUR take was this Overly sweet offering is trying awfully hard to break thru, But is truly mindful of drinking grape jelly from the Flintstone glass! Really – what are they thinking to suggest serve “WITH YOUR FAVORITE DISHES”.

This wine taste and smelled like vinegar! I had to pour the entire bottle out! Waste of money.

It does say , a Pinot with a kick, yes. That’s true . And it was nice with chicken fajitas

This is my favorite wine. I love the blue bottle as well. It is a great price for the value. It is a more on the tart flavor that sweet. I really like this brand as well. Every time I take this to a dinner party it is always a hit.

If you like a Riesling not on the sweet side give this a try.

I tried this wine out since it was keto friendly. Poured a glass for my husband and I, literally a serving size and we’re already tipsy. The taste is crisp with just the right amount of sweetness. Just placed another pickup order for two more.

This is one of my favorite Rieslings. It’s the right amount of sweetness and bitterness with a tiny bite perfect to pair with steak or seafood. My go to whenever I spot it on the menu. The fragrance notes are sweet and flavorful and it goes down smoothly.

I probably could have a better review of C & T Pino Noir if I was not already really liking C & T Red Blend. Maybe it would be the other way ’round for Pino drinkers but my preference is C & T Red Blend.

I also have a bottle of C & T Cabernet Sauvignon to try but the info. I have discovered is mixed on that. 1. ) Discontinued 2. ) Back in stock August 2022. Ultimately, Cooper & Thief gets my recommendation in any & all offerings.

Cooper & Thief is one of the better makers of liquor-barrel-aged wine. My first exposure to them was their red blend. This brandy-barrel-aged pinot noir is quite excellent. A bit of a smoky tinge, with a lot of flavor that lingers on the palate.

Highly recommended.

this is a gorgeous, satisfying full bodied wine with no bite! Those brandy barrels must really round out the edges. I will definitely buy more of this one

Recently got into white wines and have been trying out several different brands of sauv blanc. I’ve got to say that Clos du Bois is my favorite so far! So crispy and smooth when it’s chilled, I will definitely be repurchasing this for easy drinking during the day for picnics and such!.

A nice citrus blend! Smooth and not sweet. Pairs well with any meal, and it’s reasonably priced! I’m a huge fan of Clos Du Bois so I was disappointed when I tried their Sauvignon blanc. I can find this at any store in my area!.

Nice inexpensive Sauv Blanc with just enough fruit to set it apart.

Bought this a while ago for my Chicken Marsala. Rich, creamy, addition to the recipe, allowed me to forgo the gelatin, and add a splash of heavy cream to the sauce, with a perfect balance of savory with sweet undertones.

I found drinking the wine solo was underwhelming and slightly acidic, which shocked me.

I was looking for a port and my local store had this one on sale. I actually like it a lot, enough to go back and buy another bottle while it is still on sale. The label says “rich with flavors of caramel” but I would describe it more like the flavor of Welch’s Grape Juice and port, but I like it.

When my brothers and I were young, my parents would give us 7 Up with a bit of Mogan David. Reminds me of that, but I like sweet wines. Not for a true oenophile, but a decent, inexpensive port. I have had $350 bottles of port, which are really excellent (I bought it for $20 in Portugal and saved it for over 30 years).

For something to sip on a cold evening, this is just fine.

I was absolutely impressed by how delicious this port wine was. I thought it was gonna be dry n on tbe bitter side but it wasn’t. Its a red wine but sweet to semi sweet taste. Kinda taste like mixed berries.

Yes, I recommend this wine wit dessert or just randomly have a glass or two. I would repurchase.

No expert, but there is little to no burn, if any, the aroma isn’t strong, though I get a slight vinegary/fermented smell typical with red wines or wines in general that I’ve encountered (cheaper stuff) with what I guess they call darker fruits, like raspberry, black berries, and stuff like that, a little hard to tell specifics tbh.

As for the taste, thicker texture, silky, fruity (can’t really think of any specific one except for probably the grapes used of course), slight rum/spiritiness, alcohol flavor, tiny bit of vinegar, little sourness at the last drop, light-medium overall fruity flavor but present enough, decently tasty, fairly balanced, smooth with almost zero dryness, if any, practically no burn, yet only the flavor of alcohol for being a wine.

I think this is a really good one for its class. However, the fizzy moscato is a little sweeter but is more burny going down, and in the stomach, this is more like silky juice that is rather gentle, something I’d never expect from alcoholic beverages, likely due to it being very well balanced in all or most of its aspects.

If you don’t like dry wine at all, this is it! I am not a fan of anything dry myself, so I am speaking with a little bias. Overall, you’re getting a fairly silky smooth semi sweet fruity experience with no harshness to top it off.

It’s a decent wine for being so cheap. It’s not my favorite by this brand, but its fine. A nice raspberry and cherry flavor. It’s bold and rich, which I like. Sweet but also a bit dry. A nice balance.

It’s about $6/1. 5 L. I would recommend.

I love this wine. I don’t really know the difference between a cheap wine and an expensive wine but this one, although cheap taste so good to me. I love sipping on a glass in the evenings when I’m winding down for the night.

I love a good cheap wine!!! I haven’t fully entered into the win drinking community so I stay on the outskirts with this one 😅. it’s super cheap at Walmart i think like $2. 96 but it gets the job done and it’s very tasty! Can’t beat the price right?!.

Maybe I got lucky but this Blackstone Merlot pleasantly surprised me. Aromatic, fruity but on the robust side, held solidly at dinner. A great value. I’ll get 3 more bottles. It may become my house red, perhaps.

A pleasant surprise. We don’t normally deviate from Cab or Zin. But this was surprisingly good for the price. I bought it for cooking purposes and was surprised how good it was for the price. And my husband gets headaches from wine.

Amazing, had it at a restaurant and fell in love. Bought it by the case. It’s smooth, flavourful, fruity and well rounded. It’s rich and fresh making at a perfect pairing for pretty much anything. It a red anyone even non-wine drinkers can enjoy!.

Maybe it’s the vintage, but I would rather buy Justin’s Cabernet Sauvignon at a much lower price point than this. Delivers the same quality at an undervalued price.

Bottomline: I now have a go to site for hard to find California wines.

No wonder they keep doing what they do with this vintage.

I liked this unoaked chardonnay a lot last year. But what is in the store now is different and not nearly as good. It’s heavier bodied, sweeter, and more like a $10 chardonnay. We won’t be buying anymore.

I realize individual tastes are different, and this wine seems to fit the bill for many who review it. My tastes however run towards a more European style, leaner, dryer and light bodied. I’d recommend Prescription, Angeline, or Muirwood for California produced and Spier from South Aftrica or Quimay from Argentina if your tastes are like mine.

This review is for the 2021 vintage. Medium bodied. Peach and pear and honey on the palate. Unoaked. Stainless steel. Not overly dry. Appropriate acidity.

Let me start by saying that I’ve never been a fan of chardonnay. That sentiment changed when I tried Chablis and Unoaked River Road Chardonnay. This little gem of a wine is smooth with citrus notes and full-bodied without that ‘oak barrel’ aftertaste.

It’s perfect for pairing with fish, white sauce pastas, or a lazy day. Highly recommended.

Since retiring I am looking for value and taste. Pacific Peak has been a pleasant surprise with both their Merlot and Cabernet. They have full flavors, freshness from a box, and value for the volume purchased.

I’ve had some really good cheap wines before. However I’m general you get what you pay for. This box of wine is consistent with the price they’re asking. It lacks flavor with a somewhat sour aftertaste.

Have purchased many differently priced merlots, cabs, zins, malbecs, red blends, and dark red blends over the years, but there’s been only one constant – Pacific Peak Merlot in a box. It’s a smooth everyday drinking wine that’s perfect to have on hand for parties and unexpected guests.

Make sure all try a glass before you let them know it’s a cheap boxed wine so snobbery doesn’t bias their taste buds. Have surprised and converted many a wine snob. Might be why there seems to be a limited supply when I try to stock up myself.

A very fruity, velvety finish. Surprisingly unified for such a complex meeting of notes. It’s a little sweeter than I like in a red, but I got over that after the second sip. My new house red because it would be phenomenal with ANYTHING you pair it with.

With sweet, or savory dishes (which I tried), this blend fulfills it’s function beautifully. My new house red!.

I heard everyone talking about this brand, ofcourse I knew it was E40 the rapper but I was new to knowing he made a wine. This wine is so smooth! I love it so much. I love how it isn’t sweet but not too bitter.

I have bought this wine for the past 5 years. Sometimes I have been unable to get it at the local Total wines, glad to see it back in stock. Very smooth taste, every bottle has a different great taste.

IšverstiShow in original languageFirst, I LOVE this wine and any of the Paso cabs done with care. I seem to know its Paso Robles if it’s done right. This is done right. This is the standard, the archetype for this style for me, well, between this and Austin Hope, I’d be remiss if I didn’t write that.

Now, love it or hate it, the Paso wines, to me, exhibit an herbal, vegetal style. They are fruity, but there are herb notes and vegetable notes that I taste in the best ones. Sometimes well decanted or following day we get asparagus notes in these.

I know, keep one a day or so. LOL I love the nose. on Justin, fruity, herbal, old fruit even. This wines is complex with a CAPITAL C. Wonderful job to the winemaker. You should be proud of the hard work.

It’s just luscious, luxurious, fine tannins, long finish, goes good with sirloin filets. Just fantastic.

I don’t know how to describe this wine but it tastes almost sour/spoiled. It was very difficult to drink so my husband and I ended up just throwing it away. Save your money. I gave it two stars because maybe this was just a bad year?.

IšverstiShow in original languageI usually love a hearty Cabernet. The problem is that some can be very overwhelming and not pleasant on the palate. Justin Cab has the perfect amount of smoothness and is very drinkable.

I have recommended it to several friends and they have loved it.

Overwhelming leather and smoke, rough finish. I don’t think the bottle was corked, but I opened up a bottle of two buck chuck (that I use for cooking) just for laughs to see what would prevail and the chuck won by a mile.

Had to wash the taste out of my mouth with a third bottle that was actually drinkable. Can’t understand the ratings. There were three of us tasting and it was the first bottle of the night. We all agreed.

Awful stuff.

I bought a bottle of this in DC when visiting by way of the store owner. He said it drinks like a much more expensive bottle. I thought – ya sure what ev. 3 years later I have purchased in excess of ten cases of this stuff.

It is my go to red and EVERYONE that tries it – wants more. If you like red blends – you’re done looking.

It’s exactly what friend of mine said it would be. Totally delicious! SLO DOWN Winery uses a catch phrase on their corks that says NO DRAMA with the line crossed out on it. Subliminal message for us people who attract unwanted drama in our lives.
