I read some other reviews, they might have been on Google, not sure. One person said the Energy Mode was annoying because the fan cycles on every 3 minutes to sense the temperature and if the temps are below your setting, which can be very common during the night, it turns off for another 3 minutes.

If it were higher temps, it turns on the compressor. I didn’t know this either but it would not have been a show-stopper for me. I bought it because I have an odd-sized window in an enclosed porch where the opening is 12″ H.

x 48″ W. This would drive me nuts in a bedroom. Or any other room I was going to be in for some time. On my porch where I use my office in there daily, I had to change the settings. I couldn’t understand why every 3 minutes it turns on for maybe a minute or so and then off without running the compressor.

So I changed it to cool and the fan just keeps running while the compressor turns on as the temps rise. Not too energy efficient now is it? With today’s technology and being made in Thailand where the wages are like a penny a day, I thought the price was a little high.

And for that price, I know they could have installed a temp gauge that turns the compressor, blower, etc. on and off just as easily. One last issue was the side Curtains that extend to the sides and attach to the window frame.

Fortunately, with a 48″ W window, I needed to modify my frame anyway. I have my doubts that I would have been able to stretch that thing to the 35 inches they said in the directions. I got about 33″, that was about all.

At 6000BTU/h it has been working very well. It has only been used for the last 5 days, so we’ll see.

Installed it about a week ago, and so far exceeds expectations. Can’t see much of an increase in our electrical usage. We run this more than the old much larger a/c it replaced, but this one is evidently much more efficient.

It cools our bedroom very well, though the bedroom is slightly larger than what the a/c is rated for. It even cools the adjoining living room fairly well. Like the power saver mode, even though it cuts off the compressor and fan when set temp is reached, it turns the fan back on every three minutes.

Instructions say it has to do this to sample a correct temperature reading. It goes off again after a few seconds if the compressor doesn’t have to come on again. Overall, satisfied with the purchase, usually LG products are a little higher than comparable brands, but this was actually one of the least expensive for this rated BTU’s.

Easy to install, not very heavy.

I love the remote because it makes it easy to turn on and off without having to get up multiple times. But switching modes with the remote is difficult to know which setting it’s being programed to. Sometimes I don’t want the energy saving mode on so I do have to get up to check which setting it’s on.

Some people complained about the unit going off and for us it does that when the energy saving setting is on. It only goes off when it’s cool enough in the house and I love that feature. It never randomly turns off but only when the room is cool enough! And you can program the temperature to your liking.

68-74 degree Fahrenheit has been our go to temperature range so far this spring and summer. (((( There was a time it did kept going off when in energy saving mode. like every 10seconds. A family member turned up the temperature to 80 degrees on a hot summer day not understanding how a/c units work.

They thought the higher the setting the cooler it will be. Well guess what ? On energy saving mode it kept shutting off b. c it recognized that it was a hot day / room and blowing warm air in a hot room would be wasting energy.

so it kept shutting off and we thought something was wrong with the a/c until I checked the temperature. We had a good laugh about it afterwards when I explained how temperature works)))) This unit is noisy though, have to turn up our tv double the volume making the tv bass boom throughout the house.

However, it does the job at keeping us cool during the humid hot months. And there’s also a dry setting to collect the moisture in the air which I thought was cool. No pun intended. Setting up required me to use my work gloves (which helped grip the unit without it slipping out my hands) it required two people for my household to set up.

the set up manual and instructions were easy to understand. But It was slightly difficult getting the screws to turn in the back , I’ma lefty so maybe that’s why but we made it work for us. This is the first time we didn’t have to use socks and old t-shirts to put in the window to close the gaps from the outside.

Lol. Overall, I do really like this unit just wish it was quieter and lighter.

I got this unit in late May (it’s currently early August), and it’s done the job so far. We only needed a smaller unit for a small room, and it generally works well enough. However, just a few weeks into using it, the AS (automatic sensor, looks like “A2” on the screen) code appeared on the screen and didn’t go away after efforts to reset.

We had to just use the fan for some days because we didn’t know what kind of weird things it would do on the Cool setting with an AS code. We just decided to turn it on again on a hot day, and ever since, the AS code sometimes flashes and goes away.

It’s been normal most of the time after that. The power and Eco buttons are a little hard to push. I wonder if the buttons are are just a little off center, and maybe that’s why? We’re adults, and we still have to press pretty hard on those two buttons to work sometimes, but all of the other buttons work well.

We have another unit just like this one, but with a higher BTU, and we got it the year before. We were so happy with that one, so that’s how we decided to get this particular unit. Our year-old unit might actually be leaking some freon, but that’s a separate issue.

Something positive is that I really like this unit when it does what it’s expected to, and I like that this remote has a screen to tell us the temperature (something our bigger unit doesn’t have, so an improvement).

I feel like it could just be isolated issues, so I do think I would purchase this brand/type again in the future.

I returned after 2 weeks. Should have returned first week. Unit extremely LOUD. Compressor would recycle even when not in eco or auto mode. louvers have minimal directional option. I was waking up at night from noise and unit was not staying cool.

I have previously purchased Frigidaire appliances including washer, dryer and dishwasher and was very happy with them. I apologize for my negative comments but unfortunately I had to exchange for a different brand.

I did research and most reviews are positive, that is why I purchased. In addition to my previous positive experience with Frigidaire appliances.

I recently bought this AC to replace a 5000btu one that was not enough to cool the space properly. My open plan space is between 450-500 sq ft. This AC cools the area fast. SO much so, I sometimes have to turn it up a higher temp to not be too chilly! The only thing I would improve is the farthest vent direction does not send the breeze towards the middle of the room.

It does circulate well, but because my windows are near walls, it is too strong on just the sofa, when I’d prefer mid-room. It took me awhile to see the directions properly on how to change the AC temp reading to F from C.

But that was a reading error. I have a feeling though that others do the same misreading – so sad it carefully. I have a narrow window [outer width is 22, but inside is 21″] and few AC’s seem able to fit unless lower BTU.

This fit perfectly without the side pieces to simply attach with the upper bar pieces to window, place foam around to fill the space. My maintenance guy was thoughtful and had white duct tape he put over that, which made it look nicer.

I love how this AC sits smoothly with the inside portion within the space of my window sill. My old one jutted out over into the room. This AC has a sleeker look. I also love having a remote.

Purchased this air conditioner because I loved the idea of the low profile and being able to open the window while the unit is installed. That is about the ONLY good thing I have to say about this air conditioner.

I’d give it a “0” rating otherwise! We’ve had nothing but trouble since day 1. The unit is very noisy and keeps us up all night with the compressor turning on and off all night. Now it doesn’t drain properly outside, and yes it is installed on a slant as instructed.

I have to constantly open the drain plug and if I don’t, the unit beeps and shuts down, flashing “FL” for “full” until I drain it. So I started sleeping with a bucket under the unit and the plug open all the time so it at least runs to keep us somewhat cool.

But then I have to get up in the middle of the night to empty the full bucket!!!! And the worst thing, after reviewing my order, and reading the sticker on the side of the unit, I realized I ordered, and paid for an 8000 BTU air conditioner, but the one I received is only 5000 BTU!!!! No WONDER my room is never cool enough!!! This is a total nightmare.

Will never buy another air conditioner from QVC!!!!.

I like the low profile and features. It works well once installed. The installation however took all day. Although the opening may measure 11″ it has these leveler levers that stick out about 2″. The clearance for your window sill needs to be around 9″.

You also need a flat base on your windows. My husband had to build a saddle to go over the sill to provide a base for it to rest on. The accessories they provided were pretty useless. We also had to cut away part of our inner sill and dry wall to get it to fit.

There were also contradictory directions. The set up guide provided said it should have a 1/4″ pitch outward and on the unit itself is a sticker that says it should be level bilaterally. When I finally got through to a technical support agent she said she was unaware of this but believed it should have a pitch and they were in the process of rewriting the instructions.

I wasn’t reassured. Also It’s too heavy to be considered portable at 75 lbs.

Easy installation, nice appearance in window, efficient cooling. Major plus having thermostatic control, in hand with the included remote. Cooling is great even in this 90+ summer temperatures with high humidity almost daily.

Unit easily cools the 450 square feet as listed. I wasn’t familiar with this brand but took a chance at this price; with it’s cooling performance so far I am happy with Arctic Wind 10,000 BTU windows unit.

I got this air conditioner for an elderly lady. Her central heat/air went out and she can’t afford to have it fixed. But I didn’t want to have her suffer this 100 + degree heat. We put this in her house and she’s loving it.

She said it’s keeping her small living room and bedroom cool enough. The remote control is helpful to her as well. It’s hard for her to get up and down but with the remote she doesn’t have to. Thanks Arctic!!.

I purchased the LW8017ERSM from my local Home Depot store last summer to replace my old window AC which I install every Spring since 2010. As I had already installed my old AC last Spring before I bought the LW8017, I waited until this Spring to install my new LG window AC.

Installation was pretty straight forward (If you’ve ever installed a window AC before). The real challenge was to get the AC’s Wi-Fi to connect. I believe the manual that comes with the AC is very poorly written with regard to the Wi-Fi connection (it doesn’t even address how to connect to Wi-Fi in the hard copy manual).

It does instruct the user to download the SmartThinQ app to control the AC. As I use an iPhone, download and installation of the app from the App Store was simple and quick. The real challenge was trying to connect the unit to my home’s Wi-Fi.

The instructions in the app don’t exactly make it clear what the exact password for the network is. It is only after an hour of following the instructions in the app on how to connect the Wi-Fi and receiving an “Incorrect Password” each time, that I discovered a teeny, tiny question mark in the app that, upon pressing, explained the password required for the Wi-Fi to connect.

The password is the last four digits and or letters of the LG‘s network entered twice on the same line as one single password. In your phone’s wi-fi connections settings, find the LG network and Write down the LAST FOUR NUMBERS AND OR LETTERS and enter these TWICE as the password.

EXAMPLE: if your LG network’s last 4 digits are AB12, enter AB12AB12 as your password, after which my LG AC connected to my home’s Wi-Fi network without any issue. I have read some reviews where owners have complained about the LG dropping the Wi-Fi connection.

There are a few things to know and understand in reference to this: #1. The LG will ONLY connect to a 2. 4 GHz band. If your wireless router is only 5 GHz, it will NOT connect. If your wireless router is a dual band router like the one I have (has both 2.

4 and 5 GHz connection speeds). the LG will automatically lock onto the 2. 4 GHz mode. HOWEVER, your router’s security / connection MUST BE set to WPA2 NOT WEP. #2: As far as dropped connections go, I have found that when I’m away from home and I want to check or adjust the LG’s settings either via the wifi network I’m connected to where I am or through the phone’s “cellular data” connection if no wifi network is available, the connection / communication between the LG and your phone / device CAN go to sleep, kind of like your computer’s screen protector coming on when you computer doesn’t detect any motion from use.

I have encountered this with my new LG8017ERSM and fix that, I’ll either close the SmartThinQ app and reopen it and double tap the LG AC icon or go into my Wi-Fi settings and tap on the current network I’m connected to to “wake it up”.

The app then registers / acknowledges the connection by displaying the name of the room in which the LG is located (if you completed this step during the setup process) and it also displays the room temperature! This, by the way, is a GREAT “smart” feature in that you can monitor the room’s temperature and adjust the LG’s temperature, mode, fan settings AND TIMER functions, all via Wi-Fi! Overall, based on my experience with my new new LG8017ERSM, thus far, it is working GREAT.

It cools extremely well, is more quiet than my previous window AC, has a few more features and the excellent price, actual availability at my local Home Depot, and Wi-Fi ability really sold me on this unit.

This unit replaced a 15 year old 8000 BTU unit from a different manufacturer. This unit went into our oldest daughter’s bedroom. She is notorious for pushing the capacity of the unit because she wants her room to be an ice box.

When this unit was purchased, she was given strict instructions that the temperature setting should not be lowered below 70 degrees and it should only be run on Energy Saver or Dry mode. She insisted that her room would not be comfortable enough for her because she would lower her old unit to 66 degrees and her bedroom was “still warm”.

Since the unit it WiFi compatible, I made it clear that I would be able to monitor her use and make adjustments. She was pleasantly surprised of this unit’s cooling power, and she has not deviated from our agreed upon approach.

This unit made her a believer.

I read a lot of reviews and information before choosing this air conditioner. The size of the window where it would be installed was also a big factor. This LG unit offered a lot of good features, and it was the perfect size for an 8,000 btu unit.

My apartment is very warm, and I am pleasantly surprised how quickly it cools my apartment off and maintains the temperature. I work a 12-15 hour day and am always concerned about my pets but I don’t want to leave the unit on all day.

I used the timer for it to come on 1/2 way through the day. When I got home, it was exactly as I had set it. Another thing I like is the length of the cord, which is longer than other air conditioners that I’ve had.

I would definitely recommend this unit.

I like being able to use the remote control as a remote sensor. I installed this in a “bonus room” where the only window was in an alcove. Needless to say, the alcove is not the same temperature as the room.

Our previous AC cooled the alcove quickly and shut off before the room got cool. To overcome this, my daughter turned it to full cool and let it run 24/7. Needless to say, it wore out quickly. This unit cycles on and off while keeping her room at a comfortable temperature.

The only reason I gave this four stars instead of 5 is because it does not have a vent option that allows us to bring in outdoor air instead of recirculating the room air. She needs fresh air in her room, but the only window is now blocked by an air conditioner.

Also, the Energy Efficiency Rating is unrealistically high because it doesn’t take into account the energy you waste running the AC when it’s cool enough that you could cool the room with fan only IF the unit had an outside air vent.

(Ideally it would automatically switch from recirculating to outdoor air at night, when the outdoor air cools off, and switch back when the outdoor air got hot again but I’ve only seen that feature on commercial air conditioning systems.

I would make sense on window units. ).

I’ve had this unit for 2 months, and during this season’s week-long recurring heat waves, I keep thinking how glad I am I bought this one. I’d had another brand 8K BTU A/C which lasted nearly 7 years (so that was good) but it never performed as well as this one does! Right from the start, I could tell it has a stronger motor because the air blew harder and colder than the other one did, and the adjustable air guides aimed the breeze much more effectively in the direction I wanted.

This unit features dehumidification, where the other didn’t; and remember, “it’s not just the heat, it’s the humidity”. This unit also offers a built-in air purifier, with the “clean air” feature. I especially appreciate that unique feature because neighbor’s barbeques and fire pits can get to be a bit much.

Yet, I can still have clean, cold air to breathe. It’s so nice! This A/C has definitely been a life improvement. I will say you can hear this machine running. You can hear the compressor and you can hear the fan, when either or both are running.

But I’m surprised and glad to say it doesn’t bother me at all. It’s a white noise. I turn up the TV some; but it doesn’t interfere with my sleep. In fact, all I seem to notice is the delightful comfort of being cool.

I guess that’s the trade off. But I’m so happy feeling comfortable, I don’t mind whatever noise it may make in the process. Finally, I did purchase the extended warranty. I’ve used Walmart’s protection plans in the past, for electronics, and found the investment was worth it.

I hope to enjoy this machine for years to come. I’m certainly enjoying it now!.

Sorry for the delay but we had a lovely cools spell and I didn’t want to rate it on only about 23 hours of operation. It’s cooling as I type, and it can easily do my 15x20ish living room and then some.

Please understand this is a very basic AC, no remote or digital display. You can’t set it to maintain a particular temperature but there are 7 coolng levels. The fan will stay on unless you shut it off, though the condenser will shut on and off as it maintains the level you have set.

Why I’m not giving it five stars: The little white thingies you turn on the dials are not clearly marked as to which end is pointing at what. I marked them with a pen. I guess the installation instructions are merely a suggestion.

If I put the AC bottom rail in the track of the bottom double-hung window and the top rail attached to the AC against the bottom of the raised window, the AC was too level and would not drain. I found this out because I moved the AC to another window.

Not only did I have a wet hand but a largish puddle on my carpet. I now have the AC installed with the bottom rail not in the window track but on the interior side of the track. Of course then the pullout sides don’t align, but then they rarely do, so a little tape and plastic covered any holes.

Bought a name brand 5k btu elsewhere and returned it the next week. I’ve had this through 2 months of summer heat and this one blew it out of the water. Install kit was way better. Cools my 12×14′ room in about 20 mins.

If I leave my bedroom door open, it will noticeably cool the down stairs living room. When I first turned it on I thought the fan was on high, but that was actually the low setting. This thing can really move air.

Really like the directional vents and that it has a dark mode. Only reason it’s not a 5 star is it lets tons of light through the vents. (I work 2nd shift and block my windows out so I can sleep). I took it apart and lined the Styrofoam with aluminium tape.

The fans a bit loud, which I don’t mind but, I think a lot of people do. Overall, absolutely happy with this unit.

I have two Noma window air conditioners. Noma is owned by Canadian Tire. The air conditioners run fine but it is the remotes I have had issues with. I see that the remotes are a different style in the newer models.

Both of my remotes do not work. I purchased one Noma Air Conditioner but did not take it out of the box until the following summer. The remote did not work right out of the box. I contacted Noma, which owned by Canadian Tire and I was told that I could not purchase replacement remotes, as Noma doesn’t sell them.

Pretty bad when you can’t purchase a replacement remote. When it comes time to replace these air conditioners, I will be researching service after the sale. But I won’t be purchasing Noma Air Conditioners in the future.

I bought this is May 2022 and it is doing a great job cooling my upstairs 300 sq foot bedroom. It is pretty quiet and pumps out some cold air. Having a remote is convenient, as is the ability for it to connect to the Smart HQ Smartphone App.

The latter shows how much electricity it has used each day along with changing settings like temperature and fan speed. My only complaint would be the grill which directs the air flow. It only allows you to change the vertical direction.

It would be nice if it also had a lever so air could be directed more to one side or the other. Now, this unit replaced a different GE Model I bought in July 2021 that lost all its refrigerant (apparently) over the winter.

(GE did refund me the entire purchase price of original. ) I will update this review, if possible, if I have the same issue with this one.

One can hear where this unit would be ULTRA quiet if properly assembled. This unit was factory reconditioned but someone didn’t do a sound check!!! It rattles so loud that you would never be able to sleep.

If my son physically lifts on the unit, the rattling stops. To be clear, it’s coming from inside the unit not the window. He had to rig a support under it, from the floor up, and pad it with a big towel to keep constant pressure on the unit so it doesn’t rattle loud enough to wake the dead.

He called GE and they said contact the people I’d bought it from. He contacted them and they were sold out. So, as a consumer I’m forced by both the seller and GE to either return and buy a whole different unit, or live with it.

GE is NOT the corporation it once was.

I work at Gilbert’s Hardware in Owosso and I got one for my bedroom, safe to say it works better than I expected! My room is around 180+ Sq. Ft. and it cools nicely. I usually set it at low cool and than half to three quarters of the way up on the thermostat.

This keeps it cool enough to wear I don’t have to use a thick blanket to stay warm. Plus my door to the hallway is not sealed the best so I am still losing the coolness and it is still cool in the bedroom.

Great little machine that fits in my small window, I would recommend it to anyone!.

This small window a/c unit is pretty good for the price. It didn’t take me very long to install it. The directions are not the best, but I had watched my son install another unit so I didn’t have a problem with this one.

It’s small so it’s not too heavy. The unit cools the small bedroom quite nicely and I can even leave the bedroom door open and it will cool the adjoining rooms without too much difficulty as well. It does sound a little ‘clunky’ when on the high cool setting and that’s the only reason I didn’t give it five stars.

I found the installation of the stylish LG 10,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner to be fairly uncomplicated. The unit comes with an installation kit, and an easy-to-use remote control. This marvelous dual inverter AC offers outstanding performance.

It has two compressors, multiple modes (including an energy savor mode), and useful smart features. The unit effectively cools a room faster and more efficiently than my previous traditional AC. The thermostat on the model is very accurate.

Temperature regulation is superb. The sleep mode turns off the unit after a set time. The fan can go in different directions. You can adjust how bright the display is, so the light doesn’t keep you awake.

I also like that the AC alerts you when its easily accessible, washable filter needs to be cleaned. This standout unit has proven to be quite energy-efficient, and I have experienced a welcome drop in my electric bill.

This LG 8,000 BTU air conditioner is fantastic. First of all it is super quiet and efficient. It cooled my master bedroom in no time, and actually made the room smell better. {we installed new wall to wall carpeting} The dry feature actually takes the dampness out of the room on those humid 93 degree days.

The Energy Saver feature has the unit going on and off at different intervals throughout the day to regulate the temperature. It also has an “auto clean” feature that you can set that evaporates any moisture generated inside the unit that may have accumulated, thereby making it more efficient and leaving no stale scents other air conditioners get over time.

The remote control is an added feature if you don’t feel like getting out of bed to change the temp in the room, or turn the unit off or on. I haven’t used the wifi feature from my phone so can’t comment on that.

Overall this will not disappoint! One side note, it has 3 settings F1 F2 F3 for power, with F3 being the highest, it isn’t full force in your face, but it apparently doesn’t have to be. because the room is cooled in no time.

I’m guessing the inverter is responsible for that. Its a weird phenomenon but it works! I highly recommend this unit! I used to buy Freidrich but now I am all LG!!!.

After looking at many A/Cs I decided on this one for several reasons. First i love the solid top on the outside. I have a lot of trees, and had issues with lots of leaves and dirt getting into the back of my old AC.

I also like the stylish solid front panel. This thing is really quiet on lower settings. I haven’t had to turn this thing above low, even when 90 degrees outside. It’s in the living room, so I needed something quiet because of the TV.

I also needed a slide in unit because i have this built into the wall. Install was fairly easy with two people. I framed the hole to the perfect size and then slide in the case. After mounting the case and adjusting my support brackets outside, the main unit slid right in.

It was a little more expensive than most other units, but with the features it has, it was worth it for me. I hope it lasts as long as my last one that lasted about 10 years.

If you like simple this unit is as simple as it gets. Does what it should blows cold air. Not that noisy on low or high. It doesn’t rattle unit seems to be tight for the most part. Now the only thing I think they went to cheap on was the vents that control air flow.

They only adjust left to right, no up or down movement. To me that seems a little to cheap but like I said it doesn’t rattle. It would still be nice to be able to control the up and down position of the vent air flow.

Case seem to be painted well and it is made from metal not plastic. Compressor is China and so is fan motor but looked up name and it seems to be one of the better China compressor. Shaft that operates the blower cage seems to be positioned good and balanced so there is little to no vibration.

One plus I give GE is that it does have a drain hole on the unit so you can decide if you want the water to be splashed on the coils for a 2 percent better cooling. Most other units don’t give this option and the water hitting the fan blades will drive you crazy if installed in a bedroom.

So far a decent low budget unit.

I bought this for a small window in a small bedroom. It fit by using only the wing frame on one side and no wing on the other. I knew I’d need additional weather stripping, and the wide white kind worked well between the windows and along the side.

It was not difficult to install. It cools well. On cool mode, the fan runs continuously with the cooling element cycling on and off. It’s not noticeable to me while I’m sleeping. If only a fan is wanted, a box fan in a different window draws more air, but the a/c pulls air through the filter.

I recommend this air conditioner.

We purchased this to put in the bedroom so we can regulate our temperature while we sleep without cooling the whole house down. It is a very no frills unit with knobs and no remote, but we don’t really care we just want it to work and work well.

It has exceeded our expectations it cools amazingly, we don’t have it set too cold and it could go cooler quite a few settings yet. It cools the room within a few minutes and temperature stays great all night.

It isn’t very noisy at all, I think my window fan makes more noise…bu5 I don’t mind a little white noise to sleep. I’d recommend this product. Great price and so far a really great working unit.

I bought this in September 2020. I bought the heating and cooling unit because the back of the house does not cool or heat as well as the front. I can turn the air on and it will run continuously or I can set it at energy saver and it will adjust when it gets cool and cut off and then resume when the temperature gets higher.

The thing I hate about the heat part is that it’s always on energy saver and it takes forever to heat up my small room and bathroom. You cannot just turn the heat on and leave it on it automatically like the air cooling, it goes to energy saver automatically and you can’t adjust it to run continuously to heat the room.

The unit will run for about 60 to 90 seconds and then cut off. Then it turns on again in about 2 to 3 minutes to warm again. It can be 60° in the bedroom but it continually cuts on and off. It takes several hours for the room to actually warm up! If I had to do it again I would just have bought an air conditioner and a small portable heater.

When I turn the heater unit on now it sounds like there’s a tiny noise in it. If it wasn’t so heavy and hard to uninstall, I would definitely return it. It cost a lot of money for something that does not work like I thought it would.

We had an LG AC/Heater in our living room window. It kept us cool through 5 Florida summers. When the compressor stopped working we tried to have it repaired, but couldn’t find anyone who would/could repair a window unit.

We bought a new unit that has more BTU’s and hopefully it will last longer than 5 years. It is a beautiful unit with an easy to clean the filter. The one problem we have with the unit is how loud it is when running, even on Fan 1.

In order to hear the TV we have to turn it off.

This is the second unit I purchased, the first one quit working after less than six years of service. To be fair though, it sat outside for two years before being installed, which is why I decided to try another one.

There was also the fact that it was 120 degrees outside the day it decided to quit working and I needed something quick that would fit the existing opening. The old one always left a slight oily plastic smell in the air whenever just the fan was running.

It’s not strong enough to smell unless you leave the house and come back in. Was hoping it was caused by sitting outside for a time but, unfortunately, the new one does the same thing. That being said, it does do a great job of cooling my 760 square foot house.

I was pleasantly surprised that it’s able to get the cool air to all rooms, keeping them comfortable even in 120 degree temps. The remote is a great feature since I have the unit installed high on a wall.

The different fan speeds and clean filter light are nice too. Overall a great unit if I could just figure out how to stop it from smelling.

In this review, I will make comparisons to a four-year-old LG 8,000 BTU window air conditioner which the GE unit replaced. The LG unit is still available, but was not in stock locally, so I had to change brands.

Overall, the size, functionality, performance, appearance, and installation of the GE and LG units are very similar. The GE fan seems a bit noisier than the LG’s; the GE compressor seems a bit quieter.

Outside noise is modest and should not bother anyone except a neighbor who is too close for comfort. Eco mode cycles are longer with the GE than with the LG, both for off time and for fan-only to sense the air.

This may produce slightly larger temperature swings. The GE remote has greater range than does the LG remote, and it works from an angle almost perpendicular to the face of the unit. The GE has no ventilation or fresh-air capability.

This design probably results in better isolation of the inside from outside dust and humidity. I never used the feature on the LG, but if you need fresh air, take note. I was able to re-use two of the four screw holes that position the left and right-side curtain frames.

I had one problem mounting the GE unit into my 1975-era Anderson windows. The vertical alignment of the top mounting rail vis a vis the bottom mounting rail was off by about 1/4″. As a result, the air conditioner tipped slightly backward, toward the house.

That is undesirable. After considering various alternatives, I settled on using a large pair of slip-joint pliers to bend the top mounting rail toward the room. I proceeded gradually, and used a washcloth to protect the finish.

With the top mounting rail bent about twenty-degrees, the outside now tilts away from the house sufficiently to ensure proper operation. Whether this problem is unique to my window I cannot say. The GE unit includes Wi-Fi connectivity.

I do not need it, and so did not test it. Bottom line: The GE unit is ok and does the job.

For 18000 BTU with 220V Air Conditioners there are limited choice in the market and what whatever choice available in the market is costlier and I have selected this GE AC because it was on deal and price was $ 539.

99. Cooling of this Air Conditioner is very good and this cooling effect will be better if I install exhaust fain in Attic and good insulation in the Attic and that I do not have installed yet. Now a days WIFI features are very common in almost all devices.

I have installed ” Comfort GE Appliances” from Play store and that app works fine but rating of this app is 2. 3 stars. This App will not detect device when I click on the app Icon for the first time and when I click second time on the App icon then this App will detect my GE AC.

With remote control and with Android App of GE, I can control functions of this GE AC. The sound of this GE AC is noticeable when it is on high speed or Auto mode, it means sound of fan of the AC is more than other model.

Further I availed this installation facility from P C Richard and that was too costly and for installation of AC, I required insurance liability certificate from P C Richards as it was required by my apartment management.

P C Richards took over two weeks to issue required insurance certificate and that process was irritating for me. P C Richard team does pre installation survey before installation of Air conditioner and I paid $ 54.

44 for that service and that amount should be refundable once PC Richards team does installation of Air conditioner. After two weeks of installation of AC, still I have not received refund of that charge of $ 54.

As far as functionality goes, this product works as expected. Its an AC unit, it blows cold air and starts very quickly, I’m very happy in this area. GE hit the nail on the head. However the implementation of the smart features I found to be very challenging.

I grew up in the digital era so the concept of pairing a device with wifi is not a new concept. With this product, the engineer who designed it must have clearly said to himself “this is not broke but let me fix it anyhow.

” The instructions to pair the unit to your Wifi are followed through the app on your mobile device and are are abysmal; related product reference photos are out of date with this model. Further this unit only seems to pair with WiFi in the 2.

4Ghz band, for most this might not be an issue, but for others using updated WiFi technology as in Wifi 5 or Wifi 6 (using 5Ghz band) this could be an issue for them. I also say “seems” because the app showed my Wifi 5/6 SSIDs as available for pairing but the 45+ minutes I tried to get this to work finally made be realize it must not be supported.

It would have saved me much time to state the tech limitations upfront or have the app recognize this and push a pop-up message to alert the user. I am also an iOS user, perhaps this experience is different with Android.

Which reminds me HomeKit is not supported with this unit, not a show stopper for me but maybe for others. Rating the overall unit to include all features, solely for this PITA setup, I am not giving this unit a 5 star rating and give the features 1 star.

However if I had to rate the unit solely on its mechanical operations I would gladly give it 5 stars.

I did quite a bit of research before buying this unit. Initially i was more drawn to the Solius saddle simply because it sits below the window sill. however there were too many complaints about condensate buildup.

Since it sits below the sill it has a problem draining. It also appears there are a few quality control issues with current models. The Midea dosen’t have any of these issues. I can say the Midea is a well designed, quality unit.

When I first turned it on I couldn’t believe just how quiet it was. Noise is my number one issue with window air conditioners and this one is virtually silent. My ceiling fan makes more noise. When i woke up this morning I thought it had shut off during the night since the display lights turn off after 10 seconds but when i walked past it, it was running.

Installation is a bit more involved than the typical ac but the instructions are well written and there is a video as well. The anti-tip brackets are a little confusing but imo not necessary anyway. Midea includes everything necessary for most installations right down to several types of foam to plug any gaps, which are minimal.

I am hyper critical of products with stupid, simple design flaws but Midea thought through everything on this unit. When I saw the louvers open and close automatically I was speechless. Wifi and Alexa connectivity are not important features to me but they are there to complete the package.

If you are thinking of purchasing this unit I wouldn’t hesitate. I would expect that as word catches on they will become very popular and more expensive. I will be buying another myself. Oh yeah, I almost forgot! Since it’s an inverter, it will pay for itself with energy savings! Also, you can lower your mini blinds all the way to the bottom of the window! (Did I mention they thought of everything! I can’t even remember all the features.

) What are you waiting for?.

It’s a great unit, very quiet and efficient, and looks great too. But it’s got one glaringly odd design choice that stands out, and makes this unit annoying to operate-the OK button on the remote. It’s centered in the middle of a circle, giving it import and gravitas, the most important button on the remote.

You’d think it would do what other OK buttons do-confirm choices, set the temperature. But no. Not this OK button. For some reason, pressing OK enters the unit into WiFi pairing mode, even if you’ve already paired it-disconnecting your phone from remote access, and locking the unit into a blinking “AP” mode, which can’t be disabled unless you wait a long time or shut the entire unit off completely and power it on again.

Heaven help you if you press it accidentally, because you’ll be locked out of the controls until you power-cycle it completely, which is not healthy for a running AC compressor. It’s a mind-bogglingly silly design choice that mars what is an otherwise excellent window air conditioner.

This window unit is really nice and worth every penny. It was easy to install and it comes with all of the extras to install it correctly without having to buy extra stuff like brackets and foam adhesive strips to seal it air tight.

My favorite thing is, it is very powerful and quiet. It blows air 20 feet. This Midea AC unit is super quiet and is no comparison to a noisy regular window ac. This split unit design is mainly why it’s so quiet.

With the temp set on 70 my remote thermostat reads 68 degrees. It seems to always cool 1 or 2 degrees cooler which is great! My current job is in manufacturing as a mechanical engineer. I work with a lot of folks from China making stuff.

This air conditioner is made very well and designed correctly in my opinion. It almost seemed like it was American made because it was so good quality. China has stepped up its game here. I am totally impressed also with the Wi-Fi app that is simple to use.

I did not realize how energy efficient it truly is at an energy cost of $47 a year. I would absolutely buy one of these again.

My central air conditioning system died in May (it had a long and rewarding life) just as the summer heat was starting (a little early this year, of course). Replacement was weeks or possibly months out (thanks to supply chain issues), so off to my folks’ garage when they have accumulated several window units over the years – all various name brands piled up and collecting dust.

They worked fine for the bedrooms, but I needed something of a chill monster to cool my family room and adjacent kitchen. So, off to my trusted advisor, Google, to hunt for this beast. I searched for the sales first, which led me to my local membership club (the Berkeley Jensen folks).

They had a large variety of brands of window units, but I was able to filter the search for 10,000+ BTUs. Reading through the results, I needed to further refine the list since I read most every review and it would have taken me until the end of the summer to get to them all.

I liked the idea of an Alexa-enabled unit, because, well, I’m an American and getting up to change the thermostat or grab the remote all-the-way-over on the end table is so unnecessary. Four results left! The Frigidaire 12,000 BTU seemed to be the best deal, offering a nice sale price for just a little more than the 10K model.

I’ve heard or Frigidaire (unlike some other brands with strange-sounding names and all seemed to all look alike). It wasn’t in stock in my local club, so I traveled a few additional miles away and picked it up (literally, it was hEaVy), brought it home and popped it in to one of the two double hung windows in my family room.

Installation was not bad – just screw in the side-accordion things and peel off all of that plastic tape that apparently keeps the whole thing together while in transit. It was kinda pretty – especially when compared to the older units I borrowed from the ‘rents.

BUT I WASN’T DONE. Now it’s time to connect to Alexa, which never seems to go as well as I always expect it should, and this was no different. Instead of touching a few buttons to add the device in the Alexa app, I had to download and set up the Frigidaire app, which was fine, but shouldn’t really be necessary, right? I mean, I can practically connect my Alexa toaster just by saying “Alexa, connect my toaster so I can make some, y’know, toast” or something like that – so why do I need this other app? But I’m kind of used to it by now – not everything is easy, but in the scheme of the internet of things, it really wasn’t that bad.

It took only a few minutes once I found my reading glasses, and BOOM goes the A/C! I was pleasantly surprised that the commands were simply “Alexa, turn on the air conditioner” and “Alexa, lower the thermostat to 68 degrees” instead of having to rattle off some stream-of-consciousness list of instructions (although maybe if you have more than one, you may have to call out the location or something – or perhaps you can them?! (“Alexa, turn on Beverly”).

So, how does the unit itself work? Exactly as it should! It cools pretty quickly, and keeps the temperature consistent by cycling on and off as necessary. During some extreme heat, it seems to ramp up to warp speed but doesn’t rattle out of the window.

I don’t have much to compare it to, but it’s really not that quiet, although it seems to be make about the same level of noise as the older, small units. Sometimes I have to raise the TV volume a little bit, but to me, that’s a small inconvenience so I don’t have to sweat while binging (bingeing?) “New Girl” episodes that I somehow missed.

After running it for over a month now, performance is still as good as ever. I did lose connectivity to Alexa once, but I think it was my Echo Dot because it came back after I unplugged/re-plugged it in.

I also found that keeping it on all the time with the thermostat a little higher during this past week of 90+ degree weather was better than cycling it off and on after leaving and coming home. It’s still working away, my Frigidaire cooling machine.

Doing what it’s supposed to without complaint or without any regret that I didn’t buy the extended replacement contract. I expect to have my central air replaced within the next months, but I’m happy I purchased this A/C to get me and my family through this abnormally hot weather we’ve been having.

It was also A LOT cheaper than moving to the Embassy Suites which was my wife’s first solution. I’ll return my borrowed units but will either keep this one or may seek out a new home so it can run free and condition air in some other friend’s home.

TL;DR: I didn’t seek out to buy a Frigidaire Air Conditioner, but I’m glad I opted for a name brand unit since it’s been working great after 30+ days of near constant use. Sure, there are some other well-known brands out there, but I couldn’t justify the much higher price tag.

Installation was easy; Alexa set up was a little annoying but fine. It’s not loud but it certainly isn’t quiet either – but at 12,000 BTUs, I don’t know how it could be. You want quiet? Get a mini-split and pay through the nose to hang that big white thing on the wall somewhere.

I installed this unit in my downstairs shop to keep me cool in the summer months and keep the humidity down. Installation was straight forward, with options for both vinyl and wood windows, and I was able to get the unit installed by myself in about 30 minutes.

I did have to modify the vinyl window brackets by trimming them slightly to fit my window, and while there were a couple of options for weather stripping included, I feel like there could have been a more of each, and maybe more options included.

I had some foam and weather stripping on hand that I was able to combine with the included options and got a decent weathertight seal around the unit. The Frigidaire app is fairly simple and straightforward, and works very reliably.

I have many connected devices in my home, and oftentimes the manufacturers smartphone apps lack in performance and features. Not the case with Frigidaire. I would like to see a “dehumidify” setting, but that could be a limitation of the unit itself.

I would also like to see support for more 3rd-party integrations like HomeAssistant. The unit itself is fairly quiet and cools my appropriately sized space well. The window that it’s installed in is underneath our deck, and from outside on the deck, it is fairly quiet, and definitely not at all intrusive.

It also seems fairly efficient, as I track my KWh usage daily, and I have not noticed a big impact at all. Overall great unit with limited but useful connected options. Buy with confidence.

Bought this unit for a three car garage knowing I was maxing out the capabilities. I insulated my garage doors and added insulation to attic above garage first. If I close everything off and start the AC in early morning i.

e when mid 70’s outside it can maintain between 75 and 79 in garage when temps outside get above 95 degrees. in Texas. It’s not perfect but much more enjoyable working in garage at 78 degrees as opposed to 95 plus.

I liked the fact that this unit was window slash through wall as i wanted to remove my existing window and frame around the AC unit. I had to reframe once because the first time I used 2×6’s and that with the addition of my exterior siding made overall width too long.

That’s what I would add to instructions. 1. keep in mind thickness of exterior material so as not to block venting and 2. there are notches in the sides of the frame that make it impossible to fit into the size of the frame they are calling for in the manual.

I ended up first making the frame larger than called for but upon my second framing, I used a needle nosed plier to bend these tabs in so it would fit correctly. I believe these tabs are used for window installation and not for through wall.

I’m pleased with the unit so far but will see how long it lasts with the harsh garage/woodworking environment. I cleaned the filters after just 5 days of operation, they were dirty due to all the saw dust.

expected. I let it run for 12 hours straight when I’m in the garage all day and as title says. it does what I was hoping it would do. Can’t get to 72 degrees but that wasn’t the expectation.

I’ve had this AC unit for about two weeks now and although I’ve only needed to turn it on about half of that time, it keeps my downstairs nice and cool. My apartment is larger than the recommended square feet but it has made definite improvements in the overall temperature of my place.

Although the cooling does not reach my loft, I might almost say that it took the edge off the overall heat by the time I’d turn it off for the night and go to bed. I rated only 4 stars because I didn’t have the necessary tools to install it, plus I have not had the unit very long to give it a 5.

While this was not a problem for me (I am disabled and the maintenance staff of my apartment building installed it for me), it may be for some. Moreover, the complaints about the noise of this unit are valid, but I’m used to having a huge, noisy fan blowing on me at night during the summer so it doesn’t really bother me.

This may be a problem for light sleepers if they want to install it in a bedroom. I don’t mind that it doesn’t have a remote, either. The knobs are clearly marked and do just fine. Also, the delivery time was fantastic.

I literally received a UPS delivery 25 hours after placing my order. Be warned, however that the delivery option does not require a signature and my package was not disguised in any way. So be at home if you don’t plan to pick it up in store.

This was a lot louder than I expected, and it makes a sound just like someone is slamming a door every few hours, and a really high pitched almost air horn-like noise twice a day. It hurt my ears. The vents were hard to adjust to blow where I needed it and it was not enough to cool my 6 foot by 9 foot bedroom unless I left it on all day and night (I lived in Arizona and used it during the July 115 degree heat wave).

There was no difference in noise between the low fan setting and high air conditioner setting. However, when I left it on all night and all day long every day, it helped keep the indoor temperature comfortable during the hot afternoons in two rooms.

So if you don’t mind leaving it on and you don’t mind loud, frequently changing noises, it will work well for an apartment. If you have misophonia like me, don’t bother getting this.

Replaced my old, incredibly noisy 12,000 BTU Frigidaire with this unit. The old one had a MUCH larger control panel that was 10 times easier to read than this unit. In daylight you cannot see the LED green light here to know where you are in the cool/fan cycle – the text and images are that small.

It’s barely visible at night. we need to jerryrig a canopy to cover the top of the machine so we have darkness to read the controls by when they light up. The remote hasn’t been upgraded in years and does not provide that information.

It’s quieter than the previous unit, but the poorly designed , badly placed control panel (much lower down on the unit, so when the unit is under the window, you have to squat down to read it) give it a D+ rating.

And this unit was close to $600. Would not purchase again. Need a unit I can have easy visual access to.

I bought this to replace an 18,000 btu unit from Frigidaire. It is so much quieter plus it cools faster. We also use it to cool 2 different rooms. The 4 way directional airflow works so much better than the Frigidaire.

We can feel the cool air on the sofa in the living room and in the kitchen which are in completely different directions. It’s also a very modern, attractive unit. The ThinIQ app is also great, being able to control the unit from your phone including starting it remotely in hot weather is awesome.

Love this unit.

I bought this about a month ago and have not regretted one minute of purchasing it!. The unit has many different settings and the remote control makes it very easy to change them. At 22,000 btu’s its surprisingly quiet even when its set at maximum fan speed.

But the best thing about it is the sleep mode. In sleep mode you can barely hear it. And you can set it for 7 hours of very quiet cooling. I live in a 900 square foot apt. My old A. C. was so loud I could not hear my TV it was so loud.

It also did not cool my whole apt. This unit cools my whole apt even on the lowest fan setting. I can not say enough about how great this unit is. Living in California where there has been record heat waves you need a unit that will preform well.

This unit is the best on the market hands down.

This is been installed now for over a month and after getting my first power bill since I switched I was pleasantly surprised. It’s powerful – 22,000 BTU and yet drawing under 1500 watts (1300 I believe) makes this a viable alternative to a central system.

The unit it replaced was louder, less powerful, and seemed to use more power. It cools the upper floor and can cope with the hottest of days. The other reason I bought this is the remote control so I can use the mobile app to monitor the temperature of my house when staying with my partner an hours drive away.

This means that if I want to cool the house in time for my arrival I can do that easily via my iPhone, and sometimes just turn it up or down that way too. The app it easy to set up. This is a very heavy unit and took all my strength to get it up the stairs on my own.

I would have got help but there is a pandemic going on. I managed to get it installed but highly recommend two people for the job. That said, everything you need including an outside support for the unit in included.

I ran a dedicated power line for the high voltage and all good so far. Note that there are some lower powered units that run on regular voltage. I registered the unit online which was also easy for warranty purposes.

Can’t report on support or customer service have not needed so far.

This unit seems to be a good unit and it cools fairly well. It was replacing a 24000 but GE window unit that finally died after more than 20 years. That thing could really blow out a lot of cold air.

The new units only have a one year warranty. It seems it is that way for most brands on these window units. I got the wifi connected model which is only $20 or $30 more than the non connected model. I would definitely buy the connected model.

This allows you to set programs and schedules for the cooler from your smart phone. This cooler is definitely quieter then my old unit. The led display that shows the temperature is small and is only visible for a short time after you make a change to the a/c unit with the controller.

I am sure this is like this because people complained it was too bright when they were trying to sleep. Fridgidaire had one of the lowest prices on their website and they offered free 2nd day shipping.

I figured with the fast shipping the unit would have less chance of being damaged in shipping. I was wrong, it was damaged anyway. Fridgidaire was good about offering to send me a free replacement or a 20% discount on the damaged unit it if I wanted to keep it.

The Frigidaire brand was one of if not the top brand rated by consumer reports. As expensive as these units are, it is too bad they only have a one year warranty.

I purchased the LT1430CNR last year and spent an enjoyable summer in the comfort of my air conditioning. This spring when I fired it off on slightly warmer than comfortable day I got a great deal of noise to the point where I had to leave the room because of this distraction and annoyances.

I worked for quite a while at Pacific appliances a division of Best Buy and sold LG on a regular basis since I had no fear that it would come back to be a problem. This was the emphasis to buy an LG air conditioner I ran into the problem I asked for service even though I was just barely over the one year warranty.

They had set up an appointment for 8 o’clock the following morning which I thought was terrific except that when they got my new address in the little town of Minnesota they decided that they could service this because I was too far away with which necessitated me to purchase a new air conditioner with different brand to whether the heat.

So now my LG sits in the second bedroom unusable and thoughts of putting it in my master bedroom are somewhat defeated two cents it is a 220 and I only have one tent available for me there. So disappointed in LG first of all for having a one year warranty on something that should be two seasons and second that they won’t service me because I live in a small town so.

A little background might be helpful in that.

Very nice , cools faster than the last Frigidaire , but that’s because I upped my Btu’s. 700-800 ft/vaulted area and two smaller air con’s for bedrooms. Even on a higher setting set 72 and it cools off quickly and is comfortable and cycles on and off to balance the air temp.

When we cook so our new oven heats up fairly fast along with turning on the fan to reduce heat. and setting the air con. for higher cooling demand works within minutes and reduces the heat Heatwave? – we got it after the heat wave.

So at cooler settings I don’t know how much we’ll feel the cooling effect prolonging the running time to reach a comfort level. Our last Frigidaire lasted 10yrs still running but struggled cooling at heatwave temps.

Haven’t tried the heat setting yet , too hot out. The problem I have is reading the lights on the front panel. I’m 5″ The air Con. is installed about 1 1/2 ft above my head. So reading the modes are impossible.

And I have sight issues. So you must use the Op Manual to decipher the green and red dot’s If you can see them. I barely can. I’m not paid for this review.
