20 Best Wind Turbine For Rv (2023 Updated)

I bought a pedal powered generator years ago, and learned that I could barely make 2. 5 amps, peddling like crazy. I made a temporary pole from 2×2 and 2×4, to test my Vevor 400 watt, 3 blade wind generator.

At first, I thought it was broken or hooked up wrong. It was fine, it just takes a TON OF WIND to generate current. When I got a peak of 5 amps, I was encouraged. This morning I got up at 4 am. during a gusty wind storm to have coffee, and watch my meter to see what this thing will do.

It peaked at 8. 5 amps, which is respectable for a little machine. I only have a ten foot tower, which is too short. I have 487 Amp hour batteries, which is beefy, and I’ve been off grid for years. I’ve wanted a windplant to supplement my solar panels.

I have a tiny propane fired generator too. This windplant is worthy of spending a hundred bucks for a 12 foot aluminum mast, and building a better tower, away from my trailer. This wind plant is OK, and perfect for learning about wind power.

For a real meaningful gain, I would want a bigger unit. I fell prey to overrating the wind here, which is what everyone does. Walmart. com sold me this thing on rollback, and shipped it free. So that was super.

I’m going to build a better tower, away from buildings, as to get clean air. The directions such. 3 wires go from the fan, to the controller, which is 3 feet from the batteries. Red and black wires to the batteries.

First of all the customer support from Vevor has been 5 stars. There was a small problem and Vevor went completely beyond my expectation to get it solved. I have never experienced such great customer support.

The product also great and quite well built. It maybe couldn’t achieve 400W! but nonetheless could charge batteries very well over time.

It broke after 20 minutes Maybe too windy here? I wouldn’t recommend buying this unless You don’t mind wasting 120 bucks.

We built an off-grid cabin and had been back and forth on how we would “power” the cabin. After reading reviews and doing some research, we decided to buy this product. Set-up was extremely easy and straight forward.

At the moment, its just powering some lights and charging phones, but i did use it with a wet/dry vac plugged in and it powered it perfectly. Most of the tools that I have been using are battery powered, so i dont know how it might work with a saw or drill, but i imagine it should work well.

On a sunny day, I felt the generator charged very quickly with just the one solar panel. I do plan on purchasing the wind turbine as well. The only thing that i could say negative about the product is that the plug in for the solar panel plugs into the front of the generator.

I would prefer that it be on the back or even the top. I can understand why its designed this way. If it were on the back, it could be damaged if it were pushed against a wall. Other than that, i would highly reccomend this generator for off grid living, camping, tailgating, etc.

Top of the line quality at an amazing price. I could not have received a better New Year’s gift from my wife. This generator proved to be the ultimate lifesaver. As the unexpected Arctic storms zipped through and left many without power, my family was able to manage these difficult times thanks to Nature’s Generator.

As others struggled without power and lack of fuel for their generators, we were able to power our entire home and other important devices. The vast runtime and quiet engine is a huge perk. I was pleasantly surprised at how much recycled energy this machine uses.

This is definitely a must have for all people. Hands down, Nature’s Generators are the best. I highly recommend them.

I don’t think you could find a better controller for this price. This is my second Xantrex. After 10 years of operation without interruption a water leak in the ceiling took out the first one. These controllers are easy to install and program.

Once that is done it is hands off. It takes care of everything. I would recommend the remote panel just so you can monitor the load amps and make sure your system is functioning properly.

The best bag for your buck !! They will do every thing you need to do to a solar batter bank ! Just program it and leave it !! Awesome equipment !!

These charge regulators operate very well and stand up to the coastal New England weather we get a d still continue to work.

Bought this system to provide power to a shed. It’s worked great so far. Charges batteries for power tools, runs a fan inside the shed for hours while I’m working, also handles a circular saw like a pro.

Will eventually install the solar panel on the roof, but the power cable is long enough to extend the length of the shed and away from trees nearby into full sun. Can’t wait to try it on my next camping trip.

Portable. 50 foot cable from solar panel to unit is great. A little on the heavy side, but it has wheels and a handle to pull/push.

I purchased five + tower kits. I needed units to work together, in parallel, using required bussing and grounding. Bus conductors are much, much larger than Ohms Law calculations, but I still used greatly oversize wire to keep from voiding warranty.

Bottom line: multiple units combat each other due to integrated voltage regulators. Complete waste of money. Total investment $ large but small compared to time wasted on phone with manufacturer listening to how it was my error.

After one full year, all was lost, towers sag unless guy wires constantly adjusted. If wind power is needed, consider one unit only,,,.

This windmill is currently charging a battery bank in my house. There are 4 batteries in the battery bank, 2 Marine Deep Cycle, and 2 Industrial. The windmill keeps these batteries charged very often, in combination with the solar panel I bought from here too.

It spins with ease and little effort, great design. The 42in. LCD Television was on for 10 straight hours before the batteries lost power. The windmill was spininng on and off in a light breeze. I can’t wait for winter to see how much it spins.

I would recommend this windmill to anyone and is a great combination with several solar panels.

This will not “run your appliances and electronics” unless your stove, toaster, micro wave, blender, coffee maker or computer use 12volt DC. The 27 amps. is DC amps. If it were 400 watts AC the amps would be 3.

3 amps AC. This wind generator is only good for DC voltages, not AC. Most all appliances use 120 volts AC, or 240 volts AC. Why spend $550. 00 for a battery charger. It would be cheaper to buy a new battery.

It does work; sort of! Your wind speed has to be almost gale force to get 12Volt and even on a good day unlikely to develop rated power. The nose cone was not a good fit and some judicious work was need with a file to make it fit.

Assembly was easy. Pole mounting will need some skilled welding to make it fit. Pole height will need to be 9 meters minimum. Bracing required. Lot of work for little reward. It does run quietly because of the blade design but not worth it.

Disappointing to say the least. If you live in hurricane alley you might be on a winner.

i have bought several of these China Cheapies. I keep hoping one will be better than the last. I found one that had five blades that would put out a couple amps with a twenty mile an hour wind. This one does a little better, it starts up in a slower wind and puts out an amp or so more.

Bottom line it doesn’t put out anywhere near 1. 2k watts.

Not 400 watts except in 80 mph winds. But good enough. Starts producing around 6mph. 1. 1A @7mph. But I only need 1~2A overnight so its ok. Good on cloudy days to supplement my off grid solar. When its cloudy its usually windy here.

OK, but struggled a bit to figure out all the parts and the best way to assemble. Instructions would be helpful. Tool to install the nuts is basically worthless. Also nuts that could be picked up and installed with a magnetic head would be helpful.

First time I set this up the blades flew off the turbine. All the nuts were missing and somewhere on the ground. Possibly not tightened enough, or I think the blades may have been installed in reverse, spinning the turbine the wrong direction and working the nuts loose.

I love this turbine! Super easy to carry with me, super easy to set up. I pair it with a battery from Cutting Edge Power and it spins like a dream whenever the wind comes up, giving me a good supply of electricity when the sun isn’t shining enough for my solar panel to be worth much.

This is rated at 15 watts, so it’s not going to power your full sized off-grid home on it’s own, but it’s a wonderful resource for backpackers, camping or for an off-grid cabin where electricity is used sparingly for lights, phones, cameras and such devices.

It was extremely portable and with a decent gust of wind was able to generate electricity. The blades are easy to assemble and motor was easily mountable on my balcony.

Great price and great shipping time. The only problem was one of the two I received was a little wobbly. At first I wanted to exchange it and then I figured out how to correct it. With the unit fully installed (read the directions – there are good), rotate it slowly with your finger between the chimney and the spinning top.

“Carefully” as the metal edges are sharp especially where the metal is joined together at the seam – you will know what I mean as you feel the edge. The gap between the spinning top and the chimney will narrow and expand as the top spins, Just give a little tug outward when it narrows.

Take your time, pull/adjust little by little. You may have to spin the top many times to even-out the gap. but you will get there. Again be careful of the sharp edge, and take your time. My inside temp has dropped by 20 degrees one the sun has gone down.

I replaced Static roof vents with these – wish I went with the 14″(I used 12′) as I think they would probably catch the wind a little better because of their larger profile.

I should have done this awhile back, years ago. Last 10 years we kept putting in larger air conditions and it struggled to keep our brick house cool at all, When I was looking thru the ebay site it mention something in passing about keeping your house cooler without adding to our enormous electric bill.

I thought what could it hurt, I’ll give it a try. I see them on our local school buildings, they must work??? So after installing just one, let’s see if it helps. Summer is here and I’ll tell you what a great product, it kept the house cooler by seven degree’s and the light bill actually went down, Let’s not forget the air conditioner was now operating within normal use, actually cooling the house down during the afternoon and surprisingly having to shut it down at night.

I ‘am going to install one more, because these brick houses are hot in the summer and cold in the winter!.

Have an old 2 car detached garage with metal roof, it’s probably 60-70 years old. These get very hot in summer. I put 3 of these whirly vents in through the roof. The garage is about 600sf. 3 works noticeably better than 2 for my application.

I had to buy more than 3 because some arrived dented and bent, just returned the others. One spins great, second one spins fairly well, last one does not spin as well as others but it’s still functioning so I’ll leave it alone.

These really help pull out that hot air in the old garage. I installed mine using plastic roof cement for my sealant. I have went to garage during rain storms and no water came in. Good product but poor packaging leads to damages during shipping.

I have been researching power stations for the last year or so. The rapid charging capability of the Ecoflow brand is what sold me on this unit. Initially I charged it by plugging it into a wall outlet and the advertised rapid charging held up.

I have watched this closely from the original kickstarter concept to retail execution. I now own three of these units and three extra batteries. They’re pretty close to being the perfect power station on the market.

This is an absolute game changer for home backup, RV or van life. Ecoflow has won so many awards and accolades for this unit. There are a few things that they could improve on, such as stability of the app.

It’s also pretty heavy but that’s to be expected.

Heavy duty battery, high quality that can be recharged with solar panels (extra, not included) to provide days long power for essentials like a refrigerator and/or freezer and a couple of lamps if you lose power due to a Russian cyber attack on the electric grid or affected by a nuclear strike not directly on you.

I did all the research of competing products available and for something thats portable and relatively affordable this is the best product for you to give much needed peace of mind. It was a Time magazine 100 top invention of last year, so that should give you the confidence.

To charge with sun you will need to do some research and spend an approximate additional $1,000 for solar panels, cords, connectors and stands to produce 800W to 1200W for expedited solar charging. YouTube has videos on how to hook everything up.

Myself I bought HQST 100 watt panels to mount on vertical poles that can be manually rotated throughout the day to follow the sun for maximum charging experience. Don’t let World War III catch you off guard with no power, no lights and rotting food in your refrigerator.

Eating canned food by candlelight is poor way of life. Your neighbors will envy your home with lights and they have none but be careful they may want to visit and take what you have. You will need to make preparations for this too.

Shipping was a little slow with very little if any communication about the current stage of the shipping process until the delivery company called to set up a time to drop the unit off. It took 2 guys about 8-10 hours total to put this windmill together after following the directions very carefully.

We were able to lift the windmill into place from a laying position with 4 guys. We were not sure how well the aeration system would perform as we installed it on a day that there was a decent breeze with no immediate response from the fan blades.

However, the next day we had about the same breeze and the windmill works and looks great. Had a nice ring of bubbles coming up above where the sandstone is placed and we are excited to see the health return to our pond! Overall we are very satisfied with this product and it saved us a few thousand not having to run power to the pond and eliminated us purchasing an aeration system or fountain not to mention permits.

Directions are terrible…. There is no mention of where to use lock washers or washers…. Pictured are terrible….

Outstanding product! Precise and easy to understand directions made set up incredibly easy. It does take three people to move it and stand it up, so have some buddies on erection day. My pond water already looks and smells better.

This is unit is extremely simple to install. Doesn’t get any easier. This is my second Sunforce wind generator in use on our offshore sailboat. The first one was over ten years old (maybe older; not sure) and probably would have lasted longer if Fishing line wouldn’t have some how found it’s way into the shaft.

It generated sufficient power to run our DC power systems including refrigeration and autopilot off the grid perpetually. As I installed this one, I noticed several improvements over my older model. It appears to be even better built with a meter tail fin and carbon fiber blades.

I purchased this Colman 400 W wind turbine in October 2016 in Port Alberni’s Canadian Tire store. It was on sale with $ 200 off. The wind turbine is installed on top of the mast on my oyster farm skiff.

It is charging my 2 marine batteries wired in parallel. My batteries are always toped up now, this days ,because it’s very windy out here. So far so good. The good think about Canadian Tire is that they have good returning guaranties , so what can go wrong ? Marry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I set this up at my place on a lake thinking with the amount of wind I get it would supply power constantly. Unfortunately the wind comes in too extremes, it’s either to strong and the unit goes into auto shutdown or no wind at all.

When the wind is a nice steady breeze it works perfectly and does a good job of topping up the batterys. I only gave it 5 stars because I would like it to have a higher over speed shutdown rating. Seems to go into safe mode at anything over a 35 kph wind.

This sturdy, there is no actual bearing ,the rolling mechanism is unit the turbine turning on a tip of needle type of shaft , eliminating any ball bearing , will last long it not like those cheap stuff from how depot or Lowes after couple year make horrible sound , but you must spend more money to buy the base , its expensive but , they don’t give you FERRARI AT THE PRICE OF HYUNDAI! And you must paint it to you desire.

Bought this as my 2 yr old grandson is fascinated by windmills and wind turbines. I built it easily as per instructions. Used a plastic 2l soda/lemonade bottle as per instructions. I actually used sand grit to fill bottle rather than filling it with water (gives it a much heavier weight) In addition put bottle into a cheap garden bucket, placed bottle in middle and filled remaining sand grit around it.

This made it a sturdy foundation (and very cheap to do). I would suggest doing similar, if you are prone to strong weather winds, otherwise bottle would easily fall over unless supported (albeit weighted) Turbine works well – had gale force winds and it stood the test.

Light works well as turbine sails spin in the wind. Instructions stated to put lotion oil on swivel fixture, I used 3;in1 oil, works a treat. Can now place turbine anywhere in garden – children love it.

The beauty of it being what I have done, younger grandchildren/toddlers can see it and touch it with out fear of knocking it over. They can also see much to their eye level when light comes on when sails spin.

Would be useful if maker could make and addition base clip to secure Wind Turbine to a long broom handle or similar, this would add another versatility rather depending the need for a soda bottle top – onlya suggestion.

Would highly recommend – for all ages.

I bought the ‘Build Your Own Wind Turbine Kit’ as a birthday present for a 7 year old. The feedback I got from him was very enthusiastic. I received video and photos of the progress and the final product.

Much fun was had by the birthday boy and his support team!.

I must admit I was a little disappointed when I received my wind turbines. I was expecting something a little more substantial but, it is an educational ‘toy’ which can show young children the benefits of wind energy.
