I use this reel for trolling with leadcore line. I lined it up with a mono backer, 20 colors of 12lb suffix 832 advanced lead and a 75 leader. This thing reels in like a dream, the high speed is sweet.

I like the drag, its a clicker system vs like a free spinning drag. I dont know if it is a better drag system but I like it. Would recommend this to anyone trolling leadcore, excellent product.

I recently ordered two to these reels, one for myself and one for my lifelong fishing buddy. We went ice fishing January 6th in -17C temperatures. I had spooled the reel and set the drag up and put it in my pack for the morning.

When we got onto the ice I let the lure free fall to bottom where I began jigging. It was cold enough to freeze the line at the hole. When I went to reel in, there was virtually no tension. I took it home brought it in the house and reset the tension.

Jump ahead to January 13 with a -12C temperature. I thought the problem was solved. not so. I had the same result, no tension. Back home and after an hour in the nice warm truck, voila, tension as it should be.

The other reel I got for my buddy has worked flawlessly. I will be returning my reel in hopes of one that works in the cold.

Great light weight spinning reel from Okuma. Was fishing this reel for the last 3 seasons, fresh and salt water and no problems. Probably by my own fault i had some weak point near the line roller (damaged paint).

Sometimes my line skratched that point and then had some weak points in my braid. But i was so happy about this reel and just have to get a new one! Im fishing the 3000 series for fresh water and the 4000 speed model on salt water too!.

Light, decent drag, very smooth. Left or right hand use but be careful when you swap sides, theres a clear plastic collar you need to swap over as well. Nice bail arm construction and auto trip action

This is the second Okuma Helios SX I purchased. lightweight smooth as silk amazing drag. the 30 is more of a 20 size and the 40 is more of a 30 size. but performance wise there are no better reel for the money out there right now.

carbon fiber body is light and stiff with no flex at all.

I use this as a streamer rod and have only ever run it with full-sink line. For that purpose it has been a great value. That type of fishing can be hard on rods, and at this price I can afford a back-up rod and won’t be too sad if this ever gets sent in for warranty.

This rod feels a little slower than I would like, but I can certainly live with that. It casts about 90% as well as my other streamer rod worth about 6x as much. Fighting fish is where the action really shines.

There’s no problem horsing in big fellas on 15 lb leader. I wouldn’t hesitate to use this rod to chuck 11 inch streamers to pike.

As my casting progresses (after 25 years of practice) I find fisheries I wish to pursue and discover I need specialty rods and lines to better enjoy them. That is definitely the case with this rod. I would call it an offshore rod.

My first time fishing it required double hauling (fishing a lake on a day that I didnt control the boat) and the rod excelled! My soft tipped rods are no match for the distance it provided me. Hooksets at a distance were not an issue either.

I have several ECHO rods from an 8 4wt through several other series in 5s and 6s. Not a small stream rod but one I wont be without on open water. Mr. Rajeff and staff: Keep up the good work. Amazing rods that, due to your pricing, allows me to own MANY!.

I just returned from an eight day rainbow trout fly fishing trip in Alaska. I used this rod extensively for the first three days and caught a good amount of large rainbows (20+ inches, 3+ pounds). I was using small beads to heavy conehead leech patterns.

The 10 foot length and stiffness of the rod enabled me to cast great distances, but my shoulder soon gave out and I found that I was missing a lot of takes simply because of the “heaviness” of the rod.

The rod actually feels like a 9 weight rod, but to be fair it was perfectly matched to my WFF 6 weight line. In addition, I had no problem handling a 13+ foot leader. I consider myself a good fly caster, but not expert.

I will use the rod in the future for casting heavy saltwater flys where a subtle take is not an issue with the fish I’ll be pursuing. I may also use it in my travels to Saskatchewan to pursue large “Jack Fish” (Northern Pike)–which always like big heavy flys thrown at them.

Practicing with the rod before going on an extended trip will build up my shoulder strength.

These are not your 1st Choice – But I am Glad I was able to Score 2 of these Reels for 25 & 30 Lb. Monofilament Line for Nice Poles.

I purchased line counter-level line Warfare for trolling lighter gamefish and sea bass. First, it looks nice and after three seasons (with TLC after each trip) still looks new. Mounted on several length rods (Tsunami and Shimano) it performed without issue.

Line counter seems accurate to sonar. Quiet. Smooth. Light. Nice handle. It’s caught Bluefish, Stripers, Tog and Sea Bass. I’ve done a few trips into 30 fathoms and hauled up 12 ounces plus two knotheads without difficulty.

I tried trolling an umbrella rig, but that’s too heavy with a cow Striper on the hook. For the price, it fills a nice niche.

As a charter captain, I look for ways to improve everyone’s fishing experience in an economical but worthwhile way. In particular, effectiveness with using trolling bunker spoons, Stretches, and Mojos for Striped Bass rests heavily upon your gear.

The Penn Warfare caught my eye with price, build, level-line and line counter. After getting my hands on a Warfare, it felt solid. The power handle was great for reeling in big Stripers. In a saltwater environment, composite materials mean less corrosion.

At nearly the same day, Penn put these reels on sale. I quickly ordered two and some braid to load them up. A week later, I was trolling with both Warfare’s off NJ’s coastline. It was a slow day, so I switched up between Mann’s Stretch 30’s, Rapalas and bunker spoons.

Each lure change required accurate line deployment for proper depth. Between reeling in and letting out (line counter), I knew my lures were easily placed in the zone. At the end of a day’s fishing, I can confidently state that Penn Warfare’s are perfectly suited for trolling Striped Bass.

Watfare’s are easy to use, not too heavy, good looking, equipped with key trolling features and completely affordable. When you fish a lot, this makes catching all the more fun.

I charter on Lake Erie and purchased 12 of these over the last year. Started with six, liked them a lot so purchased six more. As a charter my equipment gets a lot of use by inexperienced fishermen that are sometimes a little rough.

So far so good, the only issue I have had is the clear plastic cover over the counter fell off one and got lost. Water will eventually enter the counter and become inoperable. Overall I like Penn reels.

I got the 500 size reel. It has been a solid ultralight reel for catching Crappie and small Largemouth Bass. Drag system works great, but there is not as much control as I would wish. The handle and bail will continue to move in the 12 o’clock position when let go.

This thing runs circles around every budget combo reel I’ve used though.

I bought the 1000 size to pair with a 6′ medium light rod and I love the combo. Nice and light, casts smoothly (using gliss line) and reels in very smoothly. No problems with the handle as one of the other reviewers noted.

I have more expensive reels, but I often grab this one since it’s nice and light. I’m usually fishing for walleye for reference.

This is my second and last Shimano reel. I reluctantly purchased this reel for crappie fishing. About every third cast the bail will clise while casting. This is very frustrating and it destroys the soft plastic jigs that I am using.

Going to return this reel tomorrow and never look back.

This reel is awesome. I bought it for backpacking because it’s so light and let me tell you, I have no regrets. I actually have the same reel in another color but needed another for a different line.

It’s lightweight and does not have an option to change the drag. But for the back country, that’s no problem. The clicker is LOUD, like a villain maniacally laughing every time you pull some line out (actually pretty cool when a fish runs).

Overall, this reel is perfect for my backpacking purposes or for the rod I keep in my car for that tempting stream on the way home.

Purchased this a year ago but held off on the review until I had put some hours on it. First impression is that it is a really nice looking reel! Great all around finish and color. Additionally it really is ridiculously light: the ‘zero’ in the name isn’t for nothing.

I spooled it up with orange backing and yellow Rio floating line, (which looked awesome against the matte silver of the reel!), and got it on the water. ; Like other reviewers have noticed, this thing is LOUD; It doesn’t sound cheap or anything, but everyone within 100 yards will know when you’re reeling in or stripping line off.

That said, it’s not as terrible as it sounds and I actually prefer it to a completely silent fly reel: so this is pretty much up to personal preference. I paired my reel with a 7′ 6” 3wt Redington Classic Trout(a really incredible $100 rod), and have had a blast catching pond Bluegill and Bass, as well as trout with it.

It has held up well to being packed in to hard to reach areas and I have no doubts as to it’s durability. All in all, this is a great reel for the price and if you like a good click drag reel then this one is for you.

Highly recommended. Very light Minimalist reel, clicker drag – Just plain works well. Plenty of capacity for line and backer. I’ve used for everything from nymphing small stream Brookies to Bass and have yet to regret not having a mechanical drag.

Palming the reel works fine, thank you, and the weight savings make this my favorite reel.

The Lew’s Hypermag is excellent, and can’t be beat. However, when I received my order from Discount Tackle theough Walmart, it appears to be in good shape, but has some marks in the finish that makes me wonder if it is used or refurbed.

So, beware of the good deals and make sure what you’re buying.

Awesome reel takes a little time to adjust to different lures but works like a champ once you learn , thing cast super far. Went to Barret lake caught over 50 large fish with it including a 9 pounder.

I used curados all the time , but now favorite reel definitely the Lews. Only fished two long days with this reel but do far awesome !! Highly recommend.

I have not fished with this reel yet but I already love it! I have about 20 other Lews reels and I know they just work. The finish is excellent. The weight (5. 2) without line is hard to believe! Handles feel good and knobs turn like glass.

I was lucky to spend some time at my families condo from December 12th-26th in ft Lauderdale. My dad had got a 24ft walk around fishing boat with a 250 Yamaha 4 stroke. I am not very experienced in the ocean on anything except a raft when I am at the beach.

This reel was a combo deal I found when I purchased my first two rods for going out. My first trip out I was with a younger guy who moved to florida next to my parents condo. He cali fished for everything, they didnt troll just float fish out in cali he said.

We both decided on our type of fishing lure we were getting and tried out luck on the sea. We caught a bonita that was not any challenge for the 50lbs squall I have. It was the black fin we caught that made me feel good at first.

I had this squall 50 combo. the line wrapped the tip and we didnt notice, until we saw a fish being skipped across the top of the waves. It was my turn to bring one in and I got a 4lbs black fin that I wanted to let go until I saw what happen.

We were not only trollling with the plug we had the blackfin on also, most people think a shark is what happened. It was the first of many lesson the ocean is teaching me. Check the rod tip and pull the line occasionally or your first eating fish will be beaten to death by the waves.

I bled it and it was too late the meat was mush with some weird big blood line through it. I am not someone who has been out before without a guide. I felt bad and hope the next time I can get a tuna to eat.

We found a 8ft 2×4 and it was where the day ended. We pulled trolled around the same 2×4 for a couple hours and we did good 7 maui maui on the squall a PB and first sail fish that I guess counts, I never gafted after I reeled it in my buddy wanted me to do it since he was gafting the maui, I needed a longer gaft 4ft wasnt enough for that fish and I stuck it, it started shaky rapid and I lost my grip, we almost got it again as it side swam in a semi circle, it is now in the ocean with my gaft, ( lesson never use a small gaft wear gloves, dont take the lure out its mouth before you gaft it/dont hook the hook with gaft then pull, unless it is being released) a bonita and a black fin.

The other rod was not hit because of the lure we had on it. Penn squall 50 with penn rod combo sold together is what I would call the magic stick, definetly the luckiest day for beginners to have that rod.

40lbs mono, 65lbs mono leader and a lot of luck for the billfish not cutting the line. I will guide anyone who wants to pay for gas and Appalachian cigars, inexperienced is my down fall practice makes perfect and I thank god for the beautiful rod and reel combo penn blessed to make.

Penn sponsor someone who is not the best. I can go to florida any time and fish in the ocean, I got skunked the next 4 times and had to come home. We caught one fish each of those 4 times and I was not on the rod that turn.

I am trying to learn to drive that sucker.

Always wanted to grab the fathom II CS but it didn’t support lefty. So glad that Penn finally introducing more reels for the lefty. Got myself two of 15SDCSLH and they cast like a dream. The mag making casting super easy and worry free, which is one of the reason I pick Penn over Daiwa Seagate because I don’t want to deal with centrifugal braking and educating my thumb.

The mag knob make it super convenient in making adjustment on the fly when dealing with different casting conditions. I set mine 6 to 8 clicks and let it fly only thumbing it on impact. I do want to touch on some negatives.

The clicker is plastic and doesn’t seem to be sturdy. Every time I crank the handle with clicker on, I can see that clicker button on the side plate vibrate like it wants to pop out. The graphite frame is another thing.

It is light but it is not rigid enough to support the fast spinning of the spool. When i loosen the spool tension knob for the ultimate free spool, and cast hard. As spool accelerate to high speed, it oscillate which in turn vibrating the entire reel and I can feel it in the rod handle as well.

Also resulting in this humming noise. I can’t really say whether or not the vibrate will affect spool speed. Just want to mention it. Another thing is that the reel footing and clamp are too small for bigger rod.

I tried to pair it up with Penn Squadron III 12ft rod and tighten it up real good but it wiggle a bit. Had to sand down the reel seat on rod in order to use the clamp and lock down the reel. Might sound like I am nit picking, but overall I think it is great reel and i really enjoy casting it.

IšverstiShow in original languageI had researched online for a new high-speed overhead reel for ocean jigging, targeting species like dog-tooth tuna, giant trevally, and big reds. The two-speed Shimano Speedmaster 12 LD II seemed to fit the bill nicely, with heaps of drag, a low gear for cranking heavy fish, and massive line capacity.

Plus it is quality gear from Shimano. I couldn’t justify an Ocea Jigger reel. Then the BCF club price plus a discount code meant I ended up paying only a bit more than half RRP. No other store could match that.

Now I’ve just got to wait for my next offshore trip!.

nice smooth clutch with quick adjustment (2 turns) tough line clip. built to last. only 2 very minor dislikes – handle does not lock when folded and bale arm can only be closed manually(but does mean it cannot trip accidentally so could be a plus!).

overall very pleased.

I’ve heard that spot lock is a game changer, but still I couldn’t stomach the price of a new TM when my old original motor guide was still running. I finally pulled the trigger and got an ultrex for the new year.

Install was really easy, I did it myself. I took it the lake to do the pairing and gps setup, and spent about an hour fishing. Wow! I never new a TM could be so nice to use. Point it and walk away. Set spot lock and walk away.

I was fishing and not pinned with one foot on a pedal like normal. In just an hour’s use I am amazed, and now I understand why KVD said this product is one of the biggest advances in the sport of late.

I regret I waited all these years to upgrade.

I bought this in May of 2018. I am getting ready to take it off the boat for the 3rd time to be repaied under warrenty. 1st, was a foot pedal sensor that failed and I could not turn left during a fishing tournament.

2nd time was a control board that failed during another tournament a month ago. This time – when you turned the motor on – it turned hard left and stuck there. Ileft the tournament 2 hours early due to this.

This time I cant turn right and I have a tournament in 7 days. The features are nice, (spot lock and auto pilot) but I would trade all of that for reliability. The motor is hard wired to my boat so – it takes a hour to get it off, and hour to drive to the service center (then wait 2 weeks) and do the reverse.

I caution you, if you have read this far, to consider other options. at the time – it was the best option available and Ihad to have an new motor that day. Now – competition to Minkota is coming up with motors with equal features.

I have concerns about the cost to fix this unit once the warrenty runs out – in addition to the pain of getting it fixed I mention above.

Originally I was on the fence about making the switch to the Ultrex. I had a Fortrex and for all intended purposes, it worked great. My friend bought a new boat and sold him the fortrex and made the switch.

Boy am I glad I did! Our local lakes get windy and with spot lock Im no longer fighting the trolling motor trying to stay on the point, I can focus on fishing. Works great! I went with the Link model because I run dual humminbird units so the ability to link the entire system together just made sense to me.

I figured if youre going to spend over $2000 for a trolling motor, whats an extra $400? All in all I highly recommend this trolling motor to those who are on the fence about purchasing! Night and day difference from whatever trolling motor youre upgrading from.

I’m a diehard Lew’s customer, I own approx 25 Lew’s rod and reel setups. As this is considered a box store budget reel that Lew’s makes exclusively for Walmart, it’s the best one I’ve used. I mean I do have high school end Lew’s products that are unmatched, but for the price point this is a great reel.

Very smooth, long cast, and great winn grips. Do yourself a favor and try a Lew’s Reactor reel.

Really like this reels price is very nice but main thing it works very well cast light 1/4 oz jig heads no problems not many back lash at all feels good in your hand also and light on top of it. Had 1 used for some time ended up buying another one been using 2nd one for some time going to get another one.

The Reactor is a super smooth, worry free workhorse of a fishing reel! Unbelievable value for the price point.

recently lost my favorite Stradic 3000FJ and want to replace it so went to BP to check out the FL. What in the world is Shimano thinking? No reverse lever? Whoever made that decision must not fish. There are plenty of reasons to have a reverse lever so you don’t have to open the bail or loosen the drag to take line out.

Even worse, the angle of mounting arm that attaches to the rod is such that when you are holding it, it is very uncomfortable, almost as if it were intentionally designed to hurt you as it grinds against the bone of your finger that fits behind it.

Guess you have to have small hands and mine are not that out of the ordinary in size. The Vanford is the same way.

I’m absolutely shocked at the quality of this reel. Is it smooth when you reel it, yes. BUT the noise is ridiculous. It’s not quite when turning it slow, even worse when turning it fast. In no way am I paying this price for l noisy reel.

This is obviously why Shimano’s older model reels sell for what they do (even used ones), because these new ones are not worth the money. Even the new Shimano “Sustain FJ” is the same way. Just tried one out a couple days ago.

They really cheapened these up, throughout the last hand-full or years. My 1998 Shimano 2000 Sustain FA is quieter then this and just as smooth. Unreal!.

very good couple months with reel. smooth and lightweight. However this is the first reel I’ve had that ever froze. I did nothing different from the way I treat my Penn reel and it still got corrosion.

cleaned after every use. never dunked in saltwater. I understand not a sealed reel but still this shouldn’t happen and especially not in first couple months of ownership. fish mostly back bays saltwater.

I haven’t contacted manufacturer yet but I may just have it cleaned.

Like most of the negative reviews I have broken 5 Clearwater rods (7’5” 4W, 9′ 5W, 10′ 3W X2) in about 18 months. The rod tips are of poor quality and I even had a 5-weight break while casting just above the cork – a tell tale sign of poor graphite.

I’ve been a long time supporter of all-things Orvis and when you include in-store purchases I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on their products. Within this same 2 year period I have gone through TWO pairs of Clearwater Waders and the sole of my Clearwater Boots popped right off in the middle of the stream.

Clearwater products are not the representation of the Orvis that I grew up with and it’s incredibly disappointing; especially with the global Supply Chain problems we are all experiencing. Virtually everything outdoorsy has been sold out everywhere since COVID and I didn’t even bother trying to replace rods/waders/boots after I broke the last one and was told that just the tip section of one of the rods was “delayed several months” and that the best option would be to just order a new rod that could be overnighted.

I’ve moved on to Patagonia waders and I really don’t see myself ever buying a rod or boots from Orvis again. Maybe this is isolated to the Clearwater line of products, but as others mentioned I would look to other brands – especially when looking at rods that wont break the bank.

Buying any “entry-level” fly-fishing gear certainly comes with some quality risks, but to see a personal investment in my beloved hobbies turn out to be a complete waste of time and money is the most disappointing part.

I have owned a Clearwater 3-wt 10-ft rod for just over a year. It gets heavy use once a week or so. The rod is used exclusively for Euronymphing. The rod is nice enough for a low end low price offering.

After 10 months I noticed the reel seat ring did not hold. It has to be tightened every few minutes or the reel will drop off. My fishing buddy with the same rod also has the exact same problem. I contacted Orvis to suggest there was a design flaw or manufacturing defect, but was told that Orvis does extensive product field testing and they look for this kind of issue during their product tests.

I don’t believe they have sufficiently tested the ring. Anyway my Clearwater rod (and my friend’s rod) has ring seat issues that I have not experienced with my Recon and Helios rods. Bottom line from me is you get what you pay for.

Don’t buy this rod if you intend to submit it to heavy use.

I bought this reel for offshore bottom fishing in the MD/DE area. Mainly purchased this specific 20LWLC because of the line counter feature, I’m upset to report after my 1st season using this reel the line counter worked maybe 5% of the time.

Didn’t matter the weight I was dropping; or depth, it would routinely get stuck at 20,30,40,50ft. Sometimes I was able to tap on the line counter to get it to work again but at that point the depth was already way off.

Reel rinsed after use and kept indoors when not fishing so I don’t believe that can be attributed to my issues. Have had other Penn reels that work just fine.

I own four Squall 20’s but needed more line capacity for lead core line. In the interim between getting them and lead core season I spooled these with 40 # Ande and they performed so well that I can’t make myself put lead core on’em.

Gotta get two more 30’s. The drag is as smooth as silk, handling stripers over 30# is no issue. The retrieve rate is perfect for trolling and the thing just looks great. I’ve been using Penn reels in fresh and salt water for 60 years, you just can’t go wrong with Penn.

Bought over a year ago (SQUALL 15 level wind star drag) and using Stren Magnathin 30lb I bought the Squall 15 Level Wind Star Drag over a year ago and spooled with 30lb Stren Magnathin line. I have caught grouper, mutton snapper, kingfish (35lb), 25lb+ dolphin, wahoo, sailfish and tuna 60lb+.

Not one issue with reel. I was so impressed with functionality, I ordered a 30 and expect no less. This reel, according to mates and captains rivals reels costing hundreds more.

Let me start by saying I’m a huge Lews fan and I have a great deal of their equipment. However this reel was a large disappointment. The drag wasn’t smooth, and the plastic collar on the reel handle was week causing it to hit the bail.

I didn’t rate 2 ☆ because it’s not their fault I’m handicapped but if you have any problems with the function of your hands, you will need to purchase a different reel handle or sand the stock handle flat on two opposing sides to square it off and then it won’t slip out of your hand.

With all that being said, (sorry) I still wouldn’t hesitate to purchase in the future. They are a staple of the fishing industry and they allow everyday anglers the ability to have affordable high quality equipment!.

I purchased the 300 series about 4 months ago. After many years of using a “different brand” I am totally impressed with the mechanism of this Mach 2 reel. It cast like crazy smooth and the retrieve is effortless.

Well then, so I went and bought the 100 and 200 series and put them on my crappie and bluegill rods! Oh my gosh. with 4 & 6 pound test on the smaller reel it was like throwing a floating line anywhere I wanted it to go and no problems with retrieval.

The bale flips over easy making top water lures easier to fish. I love the wider handle and the spongy grip that’s easy to hold on to. Quick story. was fishing for Bluegill with 4 lb flourocarbon coated line and hooked into a 15 lb carp.

When I crossed his eye balls with my 6. 5 ft light action rod, I quickly loosened the drag on the Lew’s Mach 2 – 100 series reel and played that fish for 5 minutes without a problem all the while working that drag like a wild man! I will be using these reels for a good while.

It is lightweight, smooth to cast and retrieve and feels very durable. We purchased 2 of them and spooled them with 30lb PowerPro braided line. We use fluorocarbon leaders as well. We used them to fish the jetties as well as Galveston Bay.

They handled the saltwater beautifully with no issues. Just gave them a quick rinse before putting them up and that’s it. Love these. They are a great value!.

Great quality from the moment you see the travel hard case. All eyes are double legged and the rod is light, balanced and has a stiffness that feels like you could flick out a lure for great distance.

Really looking forward to testing it on the river.

Seriousness and speed I like the rod …

I had this rod for, not even, 6 months. It was well cared for and always properly stored after fishing. The rod completely snapped in the middle of the handle section on a simple cast. Orvis wants to charge me 1/4 of what I payed for the entire rod just to fix it? VERY DISAPPOINTING.

What warranty is there exactly?! My money would be better spent simply investing in a new rod. a SAGE perhaps?! Never had problems with their rods or their customer service. What’s even more disappointing is the exact same situation happen to a good friend of mine just last year.

He will never buy Orvis rods again and I am now with him on that! Should have learned from his experience and NOT purchased this rod, or any rod from Orvis perhaps! If after reading this you still happen to purchase this rod, make sure you always carry a back-up with you! (and perhaps not another Orvis!) With how easily these seem to snap, your day on the water is also easily ruined.

There was some confusion with my original order as it showed in stock but was not. I changed my order to the Terrova 55 I-Pilot 54″. Kevin was easy to deal with and made everything right and I received my motor on time in just 3-4 days.

Only used the motor once so far but absolutely love it. I have an 1860 Seaark bass boat with a 75 Mercury 4-stroke and the Terrova pushes it about 2. 7mph max no wind. Spot lock works as advertised and I love that I can program routes using the auto-pilot feature.

I also like to troll for bass and walleye and the auto- pilot let’s me troll without having to fool with the trolling motor. I can put out my lines and the Terrova drives the boat while I sit back and tend my lines! Thanks Kevin! I will definitely be a repeat customer when I need a new fishing toy.

I have been a Motor Guide user until now, and bought this trolling motor after fishing with a friend who had a very similar Minn Kota model. This one is powerful and the spot-lock feature works great, even in a strong wind.

Right now I am fishing for white bass and hybrids, so this feature is essential to stay on top of school fish once found. I like being able to keep the foot control separate in a storage compartment until I start looking for black bass.

That’s a great option. The small remote works great. And, I like the compact, relatively flat design of the foot control. I can figure out how to give it a higher angle if I want, but that is not predetermined for me by the manufacturer.

Also, the fact that the whole head of the motor moves, showing the direction it is heading, instead of just having a hard-to-see needle (like my older motors) makes it quite user friendly. I’ve only used it a few times, but it has been love at first sight for me.

My live wells have been full of fish lately!.

I hook a big snook in Hells bay and it runs full speed down a creek and wraps me up in the mangrove roots. My wife Sonia quick releases my MinnKota remote from my belt and begins to quickly maneuver the boat.

I asked her to pass me the remote and we dropped it and 3 1/2 feet of water. I told her we would worry about the remote later but let’s get the fish. We got the incredible 32 inch Snook. We spent half an hour dredging the bottom of the bay with our net and couldn’t find the remote.

Leaving Hells bay was difficult without it. The next day I bought another remote, paired it and I was back in the game. Five days later we went back to Hells Bay and standing straight up off the bottom in 3 1/2 feet of water was the remote.

My wife jumped in and grabbed it and it worked! Absolutely unbelievable! After being submerged for five days it’s still worked. Now I have a back up. Minnkota you make great products!!!! We can’t believe it still works!!!.
