20 Best Wind Resistant Beach Umbrella (2023 Updated)

I LOVE this umbrella! It is sturdy & comes with 2 types of poles. 1 screw type bottom for the beach & 1 straight pole with a point for a table/umbrella stand. There is a cute carrying bag as well. It is really well made! I bought the black & white one & could not be happier!.

This is the best beach umbrella. It withstands the beach breeze with no problem where another I had “tommy b” folded like a cheap umbrella. I will be buying another one as this held up like a champ. This is well worth the cost.

Like that it comes with two lower poles for beach and patio use.

Love the look and function of this umbrella. Provides nice shade and is easy to set up. I bought it with a sand bag to help steady it and prevent flyaways. We have had 2 successful trips to the beach so far on windy days.

Highly recommend.

Returned it because of the auger. I wanted it for my patio table and the auger wasn’t removable. That’s a total plus if you want it only for beachgoing. The fabric is sturdy and the colors are vibrant and happy.

I found another one that would do double duty. Beach and patio.

Looks great! Took it to the beach and it snapped in half when it connects to the base. The wind wasn’t even that strong! It went flying!!! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND unless you are using it only fr shade!

Best one we have ever owned. The sand anchor attached to this works really well and is easy to use. It gets pretty breezy at the beach in the afternoons, but remains in place. very stable unlike so many other umbrellas I see blowing over.

Another great feature is it’s width (8ft). Plenty of shade from the hot sun! It is made really well and I am sure it will last many seasons of use. Happy to have found such a GREAT BEACH UMBRELLA. Jim&Lyn.

This umbrella was great! It sustained itself in the high winds of Gulf Shores, AL. When I say high winds, I mean a consistent gulf breeze of 15 mph. The tilt mechanism break nor did fiberglass spokes.

It was stayed up for about 20 mins in these winds before I decided to lower the umbrella. Glad I purchased.

I very much liked the green and blue color and the light weight and portability of the umbrella. I was a bit disappointed on the size of the attached anchor which as it turned out was not sufficient enough to stay in the sand and when used for the first time it blew away with a little bit of wind.

Lucky for me I had a bigger anchor and glad I took it with me. Also the plastic locking mechanism on the bottom pole was unglued and came off after it flew away that first time. So the top half of the umbrella kept flying away afterwards at the slightest of wind.

This is a great umbrella. It’s bigger than most beach umbrellas but it’s still very light. I like the vents at the top of the umbrella. I also like that it has a pin to stick in to the frame to ensure the umbrella stays open.

I did not realize it tilts so I was very pleased to find that out once it arrived. I’m not sure why it says the umbrella falls because it doesn’t really fold. You do take out the bottom part that goes into the sand to separate it.

I also did not realize that it had the spiral sand gripper at the bottom of the umbrella so that was an extra bonus!.

I didn’t realize it was “beach” umbrella when I purchased.- used it anyway. This umbrella won’t last long but it also wasn’t expensive. The latch to hold the umbrella open/up doesn’t always latch

This umbrella is very nice looking and seems like it’s well made so far. Easy to put together with base (purchased separately). The drawback is that there is nothing to hold it together when closed. The white is super white.

Love these umbrellas! I bought three in yellow for my pool deck and they look beautiful! Would definitely recommend them.

It’s exactly what I wanted and looks great on our little patio. It also fits the stand we already had. It’s bigger than I thought , but that’s a good thing. It also tilts which was a feature of which I was unaware.

I just bought this umbrella a week ago and although it wasn’t my first choice of colour, the vibrant orange looks great, provides ample shade (10 ft) and adds a sense fun to the yard. I Scotchguarded it to help keep the colour vivid and improve it’s water resistance.

Delivery was quick; item arrived in perfect condition and it was easy to put it. Great value!.

The fabric continued to fade and become threadbare after the first summer of use even though it was stored inside during the winter. iI’s a sun umbrella after all, and claims to be UV protecting. I’m Disappointed in in the quality and in Target for continuing to carry this inferior product.

if you have a choice buy something that will last.

After using this for a month I can give it a better review. If it worked well, it could be a good purchase in terms of price. 1-Colour is different from website picture and is darker which I liked more.

I knew it, because I searched it on the Internet and found real picture on manufacture website. 2-Picture shows it is octagonal, but actually it is hexagon and a little less shade. 3-Has a bottom on very top of its pole to push and manually tilt which is really hard to access when you use it with a wide table or have short hands.

4-It closed by itself twice when we sat under it. Something was wrong inside of pulley. 5-According to manufacturer recommendation I used 40 lbs. base which had 19” diameter and also put it in my big table, but when it was CLOSED with first wind gust it fall and damaged my table.

Needs wider heavier base. 6-Every time when I wanted to open it, I saw at least one of 6 top poles came out from corner pockets. 7-Usually umbrellas have a band or rope to wrap it when it is close, but this one does not.

I am less than satisfied.

I bought this online so a little bit nervous about the quality of the build and materials of this patio umbrella, but this is a very good quality patio umbrella at a fair price. I am happy with my purchase.

I received a defective umbrella, missing the button that locks the top pole to the bottom pole. The manufacturer advised me to return it as it was not a part that could just be shipped to me. Couldn’t wait for another to be sent and purchased an umbrella elsewhere.

So far so good. We get a lot of wind. First one I bought blew over and was damaged

This will work fine for the lake or a picnic in the park but it does NOT stand up to the winds of the beach. I am so disappointed. It flew off 3 times while we were at the beach yesterday. Could have really hurt someone but luckily we were able to catch it.

But who wants to chase after an umbrella while you’re trying to vacation? So many people had umbrellas at the beach and they all help up fine to the wind, this one didn’t!.

I really love this umbrella, the colors are bright, it is sturdy, and even the carry bag is high quality. Neighboring umbrellas during my day at the beach definitely looked cheaper & flimsier. Screws easily into the sand and withstood wind.

The base is metal X not a weighted shell as pictured. The base that it comes with actually works better for our setup, but it was still misleading so they lose a star in my book. The built-in lighting is BOMB.

Very smooth LEDs, the perfect intensity (not too bright, not too dark, reminds you of bright moonlight). You cannot see the individual lights, all the bars just “glow”. My only complaint is that the base didn’t have very enough screw holes so I will be drilling more into the metal so we can make it very secure attached to our deck.

Nice quality umbrella. Goes up and down easily. One star off due to propensity to spin easily; bought a very heavy base with a large locking screw to minimize spin, which can occur in even light breezes.

Fits perfectly into a sunny and odd-shaped space on my patio. The tan is a very neutral color that makes the umbrella really unobtrusive visually in this small space.

I’ve had this umbrella for less than a week. Even so during that time we have had some very windy weather and this umbrellas stood up perfectly. I had trouble finding the colors that I wanted; navy blue umbrella white pole.

These colors match my existing set. I could only find them at Hayneedle. Finally, this umbrella is handsome to look at and well made. So I don’t mind that the price was a little high. My only issue is that the tilt mechanism is so high on the pole that I cannot reach it.

I am 5’3.

I ordered this umbrella in the ‘Natural’ color. When it arrived, it was bright white! Not at all a natural color. The umbrella is much whiter than the attached photo, more the color of the top of the umbrella.

The diameter is a scant 9′. my last 9′ umbrella seemed larger. I’m really disappointed but going to keep it simply because I don’t want the hassle of returning it. I probably won’t order another umbrella online.

We like the umbrella a lot. The fabric looks really durable and blocks the sun without darkening. It looks very well made. The only complaint I have is that it does NOT have the ability to tilt as advertised.

We liked the umbrella so much that it took us more than a week to notice that it did not tilt.

You can never go wrong with an umbrella always good to have a little shade to cool you off

I purchased this model 5-6 years ago and I am very pleased with its performance overall. The older silver fabric only claimed an SPF of around 50 so I am pleased the new umbrella has a higher UV rating.

The fabric appears to be similar to Sunbrella. The umbrella is very large so it does take some extra care for windy conditions. We keep a tent peg and piece of line in our gear to anchor the umbrella and that was always enough to stabilize the umbrella regardless of the conditions.

The umbrella is still in serviceable condition but using and storing the umbrella in the salt air has caused surface rust which is to be expected. I looked a few months ago to purchase the same umbrella but could not find this model so I am pleased to see it now.

I am looking forward to summer!.

I purchased the 7. 5 ft striped umbrella in June 2020. Used it about 4x. The umbrella broke beach season of 2021. I made them aware. Took me full 9 months to get them to give me another umbrella, but it’s not a Tommy Bahama umbrella.

It’s fro Rio I believe and looks like a circus tent the colors are terrible. I will never buy another Tommy Bahama item again. If your merchandise breaks and you are eligible for another item , it should be comparable.

Not sub par. I paid for Tommy Bahama because I wanted Tommy Bahama.

I like the squared shape. It’s a nice size for the beach. Like the screw thing. It makes digging into the sand much easier. And it really holds the umbrella much more steady. Haven’t used the stakes yet.

But umbrella will sit on the sand without them. Zip window is interesting. I like how everything fits In the zip up case. It’s kind of big but manageable. I’ll have to break out the wonder wheeler to carry everything we need for the beach.

Only used it once so far. But it’s early in the summer. Will have to see how it holds up.

It is SO attractive with its scalloped, dropped edges. It also does adjust for angles. However, a little light weight and I wonder how the thin, light frame spokes will last. I bought a wooden frame one at the store & love it.

Won’t angle, but MUCH. more sturdy. You select frame & canopy. Easy to assemble. I give it 5 stars all around, but won’t be asked, it wasn’t an online purchase.

Not as expected. The description falls to mention that there is no crank. You must manually push the umbrella up and release a latch (high up) to lower it. Other than that, it appears to be a good quality and functional.

I think this is my third or possibly even my fourth summer with this umbrella and it’s still in great condition! I purchased it to shield one of my hydrangeas from all day sun. She gets very sad sitting in all day sun.

So I set this up so it only gets direct sun half the day. Much happier plant! And it’s cute too!.

Usually pretty happy with our Walmart online purchases. We got set up on the beach, screwed the post into the sand and everything looked great until a 16 mph gust of wind came along and this pretty umbrella came apart like a $2.

00 watch. Learned a lesson on umbrellas. check the wind capability and UV protection. this one had neither. this one is for calm wind and looks only. Had to leave the beach and bought a new umbrella.

(for less). it worked great for the rest of our stay. Walmart gets their umbrella back.

I totally enjoy this umbrella. The colors are so bright and cheerful it would make any backyard a joy. Given the cost it is a great value and does provide a good amount of shade. It does not have a hinge to bend it in the direction to block the sun but that is only one small disadvantage.

I have many multicolor chairs and this umbrella compliments these chairs and brings the backyard together. If you need an inexpensive umbrella and like to have the multicolor fun, than this is the umbrella for you.

I really like the design of this beach umbrella. It has an integrated sand anchor and folding handles to help drive it in. It’s very light, has a carrying bag, and the drink holder is just icing on the cake.

My only gripe is the excessive use of plastic. It feels flimsy and doesn’t seem like it will last for the long haul. A little aluminum or even wood could make this an even better umbrella. Add in a crank handle and this could be the best umbrella ever.

As is, this is still a very good umbrella and I hope to use it often.

I loved my other Tommy Bahama umbrella, this one was not a sturdy. The ribs of the umbrella aren’t piping but flexible rods. When the wind is more than 15 mph it tends to flip the umbrella inside out.

I noticed other people at beach with the same umbrella having the same issue. The poll does stich in the group well and is easy to install. It is a large size and when isn’t bad it is awesome.

I am very disappointed with this product. I read a lot of reviews for different products before deciding on this one and couldn’t have been more surprised at how disappointed I am. The umbrella portion has cheap plastic “supports” and they bend even in a little bit of wind, causing the umbrella to be useless.

I paid much less for others of much better quality than this one. AWFUL.

This navy blue, large umbrella with Sunbrella fabric is well constructed, looks attractive, and covers my patio dining area very well. Its operation on opening and closing works smoothly and the aluminum structure makes it easy to transport and install.

Given the quality materials and construction, I expect it to last quite a long time, making it a good investment over the long term. Would definitely recommend.

This is my second of this exact California Umbrella. Both times last 9 months total (we take down after summer) Each time the pressed fitting just got loose and collapses the umbrella. Better off buying a discount cheap umbrella and throw it away rather than spending more THINKING you are getting quality.

California Umbrella has to know this design flaw. Shrugged me off the first time and takes NO RESPONSIBILITY for their product. Always rude too Find another company.

Beautiful umbrella. Material is thick and durable. Provides enough shade to fit two adults with towels. Perfect for the Aussie Sun. Definitely worth the extra money to get better quality than cheaper umbrellas.

Also bought the matching towel which is nice quality too.

This looked like the photo – materials are quality, like the carry bag for getting to the beach. It was straightforward to put into the sand, and we had no trouble with it blowing away. We buried it quite well.

The only concern I have is that the plastic piece that connects the top half of the umbrella handle to the bottom half can be fully unscrewed and could get lost.

Perfect colour, looks great on the beach. Easy to put up and take down, and sturdy. Perfect size for us and our smaller kids. We have 4 children, but the older ones are at school, and so on weekdays when we go to the beach, this umbrella is wonderful for providing shade for our younger kids and us.

Love the design as well :).

Unfortunately, for those who care, the coloring of the wood elements in this beautiful umbrella and its “matching” chairs are not even close to matching each other. As a result I will be not using them together as anticipated and promoted.

At the price paid one would expect better. PLEASE B&P address this issue for future buyers! (BTW, there was a B&P umbrella at my local park. I approached its owner praising its beauty and in conversation she also expressed this one major disappointing aspect of the B&P products.

) I have already purchased numerous B&P items eg. umbrellas, tents, totes and towels and am very happy with all except for this one very disappointing issue that requires me to purchase coordinating chairs elsewhere until addressed.

The question though is, if addressed, which color tone will be chosen, the lighter tone in the chairs or the darker tone in the umbrellas, tents and umbrellas? My wish is and one solution would be with future productions to mix in a good amount of the darker tone of the poles into the chairs.

Bought 2 of these umbrellas hoping the black stripes would be like the pictures shown, however it was nowhere near similar. It’s more of a charcoal color at best. This just means it’s will fade faster with the sun.

The tan canvas color seems darker for this reason too, so the vibe is way off. Not cute or crisp like I was hoping it would be and they don’t go with the aesthetic I have in yard for this reason.

There’s nothing like walking back to your camp and feeling awe for how lucky you are to have the beauty of the beach. This size does a decent job of casting a shadow for 2 laying down at midday. The angle-ability was nice, but we found the largest shadow was keeping it straight up at that time.

Wonderfully easy to pack up and carry with the case it comes in. Couldn’t be happier. :D.
