Got this on discount. Just moved house didn’t want to get into a 24mth broadband contract. This is great pop in a 30day 4g sim works perfectly just like a regular broadband router. Connected it to 2 phones and a laptop no problems fast speed with a Smarty 4g sim card.

It’s deffo amplifies the signal better than a mobile just on data, is so much faster. I would deffo recommend this router it give you so many more options with some really good 4g sim only deal around.

The router it’s self is so simple to set up use. Download the router app to your phone put the sim in the router switch it on your online within minutes. Go to the router webpage for more customisable options for security etc.

I am in no way a tech geek just not at all it really is just very simple plug in a play device.

This device won’t connect to the 5GHz hotspot on my Samsung Galaxy S20, only the 2. 4GHz. This is disappointing as the performance is far better on 5GHz. It only supports a handful of lower channels, the phone uses a higher 5GHz channel and this can’t be changed.

I can connect to the lower channels on my home router but it significantly degrades the performance (and I don’t need to use it at home in any case). I believe this product isn’t optimised for Australian Wifi frequencies.

It works ok on 2. 4GHz for occasional use but if performance is important to you I suggest you look at alternative products.

Purchased primarily to tether to my phone using either normal USB tethering or Easytether. The OpenWRT OS on this router makes it easy to support either of these connection options. The built-in support for VPN clients is super convenient.

This won’t take up much space if you travel with it, but I had trouble getting it to connect but I’m not exactly good with technology so maybe I was doing something wrong. It seems pretty easy to work it if you know how.

It is a good instrument with some limitations. A movable stage would make it much easier to reposition an item under the microscope. The digital camera gives a higher magnification than the lowest achievable by eye using the same objective lens, which means you often can’t photograph much of an object.

Clearly there are times when the higher magnification is needed. Perhaps an extra, lower powered, objective lens is the answer. There is a screw at the back of the stage which is not shown in some photographs and its purpose is not mentioned in the manual.

The option of a box to keep it and the accessories in would be helpful. I happened to have an empty six-bottle wooden presentation wine box which was a perfect fit.

I love this device. I have not been able to get anything better than dsl where I live. The works great. Setting it up was challenging but I had help! It works great. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Very basic hotspot works but is quirky! Does not stay on 24/7 and requires you to be present to reboot it frequently. We wanted to use it on a boat to connect with cameras remotely but am afraid it will go off line and need to be re-booted.

I bought this for an extended stay in the French Alps to use in addition to my mobile allowance. It was great. With a Vodafone data sim of 50gb per month allowance for £30(as of December 2019)It was like having home Wi-fi.

Both my husband and I used it for phones, tablets and laptop all at reasonable speed. However we didn’t try streaming films so can’t comment on that. We switched the 3/4G off once in our apartment and only used this gadget and surprisingly only used 25gb of data in a month.

My only (slight) gripe is that the battery life seems quite short – it will go flat if left on overnight and we found ourselves leaving it permanently plugged in then there was no problem. For a techno dinosaur like myself the instructions seem unnecessarily complicated – my son set it up in seconds without them – follow your instincts – it’s simpler that it looks! That said it did everything we wanted it to and more and would completely recommend it.

Works better than anticipated. Supports several devices at once, using a SIM card with unlimited data from the UK’s best network. Occasional blip when mobile signal weakens, but quickly gets back on track.

Fantastic little product! Very easy to use, it can be stored in your pocket, bag or be on display. You can connect it directly to your device using the cable supplied or via WiFi by entering the password found in device information.

Upto ten devices can be connected at any one time. You can choose your network provider, use a shared sim with a different number and you can also insert both a uk sim and European sim at the same time so when your driving over the continent it will automatically select the appropriate network.

Once switched on it takes about ten seconds to connect to the network and once connected to your device your good to go. By pressing the home button once allows you to view the available upload and download speeds.

I use my device to send and receive e-mails, search engines, internet banking, online shopping and watching tv & videos via Amazon Fire stick whilst out and about all over the uk. Never suffered connection issues outside but sometimes it struggles to make a connection when inside a metal corrugated building/shop.

Without high speed internet for 6 & 1/2 yrs til this came along. Our personal hotspot worked better than Hughesnet, but it was all crawling speed. You have to get the right plan with a sim card from you cell company.

a personal hotspot plan on a sim will be targeted & shut down. There’s unlimited-limited and there’s unlimited-unlimited. Got to pay ATT or Verizon more for the right sim card (we do a business plan for like $65 monthly), and it works wonders with 1 bar of reception.

A cell phone booster will not work for this like it does on cell phones. Our’s did not and in fact slowed down our internet speed. To our knowledge you’ll need at least 1 bar of service without a booster antenna.

Then you’ll want a MIMO antenna. MIMO is completely different than cell booster antenna although they look the same. Don’t buy the MIMO laptop one from Netgear unless you can’t mount a big one outside.

Little laptop clip on Mimo antenna from Netgear works fine taking speed from 5Mbps to 10-20Mbps, but a big 2×2 MIMO antenna from Waveform will really increase your speed. With the MIMO external Waveform we went from about 5mbps to 50.

sometimes 80. My only knock on the Netgear Nighthawk is that the input receptors for the MIMO antenna are weak. They do not hold the input jacks very well at all. You have to insert the bulky wired MIMO antenna jacks gently and position the little Nighthawk we’re it doesn’t move or the jacks will slip right out.

It’s a problem we happily deal with. Position your Nighthawk central to all wifi devices. The further you get away from it the slower the speed. It does work well though for the desperate. Thinking about cancelling our Starlink now.

Using this for Internet access on my boat. I live in a rural area of Oklahoma and have a 36 foot Carver Aft Cabin on Lake Tenkiller. I have a couple of TV’s, stereo’s and of course everyone has their tablets and phones on the boat.

Cell service in this area is spotty at-best. I can get one bar of 4G service with my Verizon phone, and my wife can get two bars with her AT&T phone. When in the slip, no signal at all. Thought I would give this device a try.

I added in a 36 dBi gain antenna to this using the two antenna connectors, and even in the slip I get 3 bars of signal with a 36 Mb/s download and 8 Mb/s upload. Everything streams great regardless of where I am on the lake or in the slip.

The external antenna makes all the difference. As a note, my external antenna is suction-cupped to a side window to get that signal. I have tested it mounted outside, and in that situation I get 5 full-bars, but since 3-bars is sufficient, I keep it mounted inside.

If you are going to keep it plugged in like I do, suggest just removing the battery as it gets hot if plugged in all the time. I highly suggest this. My service provider is Pure Talk Wireless, and when I put my SIM Card in the device, it worked fine.

I did make some tweaks to get a little better throughput at the suggestion of the Pure Talk Wireless support team, but while it helped a little, it wasn’t 100% necessary. If you aren’t technically savvy (I am), don’t worry, you should still be able to set this up.

If you are a “techie”, plenty of tweaks you can make to improve things in the settings.

I got this router because I wanted a mobile internet solution for my devices that wasn’t dependent on my place of employment’s WiFi (and, more specifically, browsing rules). However, there are some pretty major caveats that you need to keep in mind before purchasing this.

Firstly, you need to have a data plan, which means swinging by for a sim chip to throw in this bugger. Based on my research, if you cap the data plan for this device it’ll throttle your data speed for this and all other devices on that plan, so you’re likely gonna wanna keep it away from your phone plan.

Getting the data plan to work wasn’t plug-and-play, in my circumstance there was a promotion going on for the data plan that I got but what they fail to tell you is that the data plan will reject your device if its not a piece of hardware that the ISP wants to provide, so I had to go through a grueling troubleshooting process just to get the thing to work.

The good news is, once it works, it works pretty alright. I have a 4G LTE plan with T-Mobile and my download speeds are typically somewhere between 60 – 120 Mbps, with upload speeds of somewhere between 20 – 25 Mpbs.

My speeds are atrocious at my place of residence (1 – 2 Mbps download), but thankfully that’s not where I intended to use this device. Unfortunately, it can be cost-prohibitive depending on what you want to use it for.

The plan that I selected was 50 GB of 4G data for $55 a month with unlimited throttled data after that. I don’t know what the throttling data speeds are but from what I’ve read, they’re not good. If you do streaming and heavy downloading then I could easily see running out of data in a single sitting.

Other than that, the device works well. Its got a high battery life and transmits its signals well. You can download an app which is very robust and gives you a lot of control. You can even put a micro SD in it and use it as a mini network file storage, or be used as a mini power bank to power/recharge other devices.

The only reason I’m not giving this product a much lower rating is because the troubles that I’ve experienced I can’t really fault against the device; it does what it’s supposed to do. That said, it IS getting a lower rating because the customer support IVR and team is HORRENDOUS.

T-Mobile put more effort into troubleshooting this and was more knowledgable about this device then NETGEAR staff did and it isn’t even T-Mobile’s device, which is embarrasing. My advise to Netgear would be to upgrade their IVR system, get off the discount remote support and invest in some real remote support specialists.

I bought one of these for my parents last year, along with a data SIM as they have no land line. I got it on sale for half the price it is now, but was so impressed with it that I just bought one for myself and my daughter to use on our travels over the coming Summer holidays.

Beautifully simple to use and set up, with both an app to adjust setup on your phone, or direct access via a browser. Obviously, performance in terms of network will depend on your provider, but I’ve had excellent results with both my O2 contract SIM and a BT data SIM I bought specifically for this.

It has the added bonus of an SD card slot, so you can fill up 32GB worth of card with movies, music etc and it’ll be accessible for anyone connecting to the device. Brilliant! Highly recommended and great service from Very as always.

I’m making use of this router daily. The size is excellent (small enough to fit in your pocket) and the router itself is very simple, with a single button on top, and readable screen that shows your gb usage and connectivity, battery life, etc.

It’s very easy to use. The only issues I have with it are that it seems to overheat easily (even in an air conditioned room), and that the battery does not last all day. If it gets hot, it will not charge.

So the overheating battery makes the battery drain lower, and you can’t charge it if you need to (using for work) unless you manually cool it down (I’m using lunch box ice packs). There were some connectivity issues which I think were mainly lag and distance related.

Overall I’m content with this device and really hope it lasts, and hope I can use it unplugged on a trip one day in a hotter area.

I’m very disappointed with this device. It worked pretty well for about 2 years. During the third year the device started acting strangely. It restarted on its own in the middle of important things I was doing on the internet.

Finally the device disabled wifi on its own and it would not let me enable it. While the device looks good cosmetically, it is basically an expensive brick. When I called netgear for help, they basically told me I had to get on a repair contract before they can troubleshoot the device for me.

I feel like netgear is not willing to stand behind their product. I will not be purchasing another device from them again.

I got the TP-Link N300 Travel Router (without the USB port) specifically for my Xbox One S. I didn’t expect it to be this good! My university uses an indirect wi-fi login system (we connect to the open university network, which brings up an internet page asking us to login with our university ID and password to authenticate — similar in system to most hotels and airports), which the Xbox can’t handle.

So I decided to create a small internal network in my room that has its own SSID and password. I went with a mini router rather than just a range extender because this mini router has greater functionality for around the same price as most extenders.

Size: As you can see in my pictures, the length/width is a little more than that of two quarters side-by-side, and the thickness of 3/4ths a quarter. I was surprised by how small it was when I opened it.

Accessories: It comes with an ethernet cable, USB charger, wall adapter (though this is a bit clunky for modern standards), travel pouch, Wi-fi Info Card, and the standard instructions. Setup: Quick and easy, though you’ll need to have a computer (I’m not sure if it works on a smartphone/tablet) to access the setup page.

It took me about five minutes to set mine up in Access Point Mode. Basically, you plug in the router for your preferred mode as per the image/instructions. You then connect to your router from your computer using the password on the Wi-Fi Info Card and go to tplinkwifi(dot)net to do a quick setup.

Here you can choose what mode you want to use the router in, change your SSID, password, etc. Then reboot to reconfigure the router. Modes: There are five modes — two for travel and three for at home use.

I went with the Access Point (AP) Mode for my uses, but I probably could have just gone ahead with the default Wireless Router mode. The ethernet port in my room was too far away from my Xbox to use Client mode.

Regardless, it’s working great. I’ve attempted to give explanations for the different modes below, but I’m not particularly knowledgeable in this so please correct me if there are any inaccuracies. For Travel: 1.

Wireless Router (default): Basically, it turns a wired internet connection wireless. 2. Hotspot Router: I would best describe this as taking an open (and unsecured) wi-fi connection and making it password protected (personal hotspot).

The router takes the unsecured wi-fi connection and creates a secured wi-fi/wired connection, and you can have one device connected directly to the router and have the rest of your devices using your protected wi-fi at the same time.

Useful for connecting to the internet in public places like cafes. I believe it’s also great for hotel rooms where only one device can use the internet per room. Connect this and all your devices can use the internet.

For Home: 3. Range Extender: Similar in nature to the Hotspot Router Mode — it goes wi-fi to wi-fi, except this mode uses your home’s network and maintains the same password as your home’s AP. It’s to extend your home’s wi-fi to reach any wi-fi dead spots in your house (like the attic or basement, or that weird corner of the room where you like to huddle and binge watch Netflix but just happens to be the same place where wi-fi connectivity is super sketch and the video never loads).

You can use the router for both wired and wi-fi connections simultaneously. 4. Client: Sort of the opposite of the Wireless Router mode — this takes a wi-fi network and makes it wired so that devices that don’t have wi-fi capabilities can connect to the internet.

It’s great for smart TVs, game consoles, printers. 5. Access Point: Same as the Wireless Router mode, takes a wired network and makes it wi-fi. Speed: There wasn’t really any compromises made with the download speed.

My university has incredibly fast wi-fi (though my dorm isn’t as fast as our libraries), so I’m glad that wasn’t sacrificed. The upload speeds weren’t as consistent, but still not bad. You can see the speed test results in my pictures.

Overall, I’m really liking this mini router. The size is perfect for travel (it’s smaller than my Macbook Pro’s MagSafe adapter…!), and the setup was straightforward. Definitely a recommended buy.

I bought this for a specific purpose, namely to provide an ethernet connection to a piece of equipment that needed Internet access, which I was providing via tethering my smartphone. If this means anything to you, I wanted to use a DMR radio via a Shark Openspot, and go out portable.

It works very well indeed. If that is “gobbledegook”, don’t worry, accept that it worked very well for me. This is not perhaps a common configuration, but the Nano did the job well, offering “client mode” to do so.

Radio Amateurs are using this exact same router the world over for this purpose. (In fact, my American friends told me which one to get). I measured the electricity it was taking, (often less than 0.

1 amps at 5 volts) which was good for the portable, battery operated mode I planned. It is very small, again, ideal for portable operation. Setup was very problematic, until the penny dropped, I was trying to configure it from the ethernet port (connected on my home LAN) but it is necessary to log into it via WiFi,, at which point it worked first time.

I would highly recommend it for the mode I used it in, but have not tried the other modes. Can’t see why it would not work well. Build quality is good, and all the necessary cables and a mains power plug are included in a box that affords good protection to the unit.

Now my local friends are ordering Nanos as well. !.

First things to know; 1) there is no internal battery, it must be plugged into USB. 2J there is no app to install. Just log into it like any other router. 3) save the card that comes with the unit for setup/reset, it shows the default SSID (network name) & password.

Setup: 1) plug into USB to power on (flashing green light). 2) pull up list of available networks (SSID’s) on your device. Look for the TP-Link name on the card or back of Nano router, then select it.

When asked enter the password (shown on card). You can change these later. You are now logged into the router. You’ll need to do this on each device you want to access the nano router. To set up the router proceed to step 3 (only needs to be done once unless you want to change things later.

) 3) Open a browser on the device & enter tplinkwifi. net on the URL line. A login screen will appear. Enter the user name (default=admin) & password (default=admin). The router setup screen appears where you can select how you want to use the router (i.

e. Router, Hotspot, etc. ), the primary Network you want to log into (i. e. McDonalds), the Nano’s SSID name, passwords & etc. ) Close out of setup. You’re done & ready to go. Signal strength is good.

Distance is about an 18’ radius from the Nano so best to place in middle of motel room. So why use a Nano if your motel room or McDonalds already gives you WiFi? Answer: Security!!! These public WiFi’s can easily be hacked giving the hackers access to your devices.

The Nano offers its own encryption blocking hackers. Plus, once you have with installed on each of your devices you only need to log the Nano into the public network instead of each of your devices (for us that’s 4 devices, 2 phones & 2 tablets).

I bought this a couple of months ago and for the most part I’m pleased with it. I keep it hooked up to my home router all the time and have never used it for a mobile router. I did take it out in my yard once and saw speeds over 200 Mbps more than once.

It’s not unusual to see speeds of 130 Mbps inside my home and that’s a lot better than DSL which was 6 Mbps. The only issue I have with the MR5200 is that it will drop 5G and change to 4G. I can understand it doing that if 5G is not available but if 5G is available it should reconnect to 5G on it’s on but it doesn’t.

I can reboot the M5 or turn the power off and then back on and it will reconnect to 5G. It’ll do this most every day. I ended up putting the power supply on a timer and set it to power off at 5:00 a.

m. and power back on at 5:01 a. m. but that still doesn’t take care of this issue all the time. It being a 5G router it should always be connected to 5G if it’s available.

This Hotspot is by far the best in the industry. It was easy to set up and understand the instructions (I only had to read the 1st page ). Right after putting in SIM card from my carrier ,I was up and running.

I’m able to get from 288Mbps (during high traffic from the carrier ) to 675Mbps in the evening and around 800 later at night. This Hotspot is very powerful,easy to use and reliable. It is a bit pricey but it is the only one of its kind and the same type from carriers are priced about the same but you get stuck in a contract.

We’re also in an inflation bubble right now so everything is costing a lot more. If you are thinking about buying a Hotspot and are thinking about buying one, just do it and stop thinking about it. This guy can do a lot of things and make it easy to get the internet wherever you go.

This is hands down the most fully-featured mobile LTE/5G router I’ve ever used, but in my opinion where it shines the most is not in mobile uses, but rather as a backup (or potentially even primary) network connection for home internet.

Thanks to its offboarding and “Always On Wifi” functionality its possible to set this up as a backup and only use your LTE or 5g connection when your primary connection fails. The inclusion of an Ethernet port on this router is a game changer allowing it to be used for home networking in rural areas where wired home internet might not be an option.

The stability has been great, and the interface is powerful and intuitive. I would happily recommend this router to anyone on the market for a 5G router.

I had a problem where I could not easily get Linux drivers for my wifi adapter. This item solved the problem by directing my wifi signal to the LAN port on my Linux PC. All the necessary cables were included with the router.

It has other modes of operation as well. Great product at a reasonable price.

Earlier this year I bought an EMF meter to identify the higher levels of radiation in my house. WiFi is a significant contributer to these levels. So I decided to move from WiFi to Ethernet using TP-Link plug-ins to the house power supply.

And they work incredibly well. But I have some older items; internet radio and my tablet computer; in different rooms but without Ethernet connection. Hence my purchase of the TP-LINK WiFi routers, one for the tablet and one for my internet radio.

I switch on the TP-LINK routers, connected to my local network, supplied by my master router via ethernet, when I’m using my tablet and radio. But I can turn off the routers when I’m not using them and the radiation levels in my house are thus minimised.

These TP-Link routers are great and I’d most certainly recommend them to anyone for whatever purpose; interestingly, the effective range is more than enough of I want to move to another room with my tablet.

For me, they were money well spent.

If you’re always on the road (like I am), you’ll invariably connect through public networks such as hotspots and motels free wifi. But how many other users are on that same network? Can they see sensitive information on your computer? Who knows.

I don’t take any chances and for under $50, it’s cheap insurance and state of mind. It’s not the fastest out there, but definitely the most affordable. Basically, you connect to it, then login to the web interface, find a hotspot and connect through the box.

Internet in Australian is still slow, so the measly 433Mbps @5GHz works out to roughly 43. 3MB/s which is more than enough of the 2. 5-3MB/s speeds of motels and even lower in public areas. There’s a few ways to use it, first is as above as a VPN, or multiple devices can share a connection (such as caravan parks that only have 1 connection per unit) or via ethernet (although they’re becoming less and less in motels), as a wifi extender.

It’s even got a USB for wireless file sharing and quick charging devices. Being that it’s from TP-Link also means I generally won’t have any problems with it in 12 months (like D-Link). I’ve changed over a lot of my wifi devices to TP-Link and find they’re easy to setup, use and are fairly reliable.

I travel in my caravan for 6 months of the year and use a mobile broadband modem for my internet need. My problem is I use a smart DNS service and am unable to alter the settings in the mobile broadband modem.

This TP-Link mobile router has solved this issue. Using in the hotspot mode I am able to change the DNS address and also add static routes to force Chromecast to use these DNS addresses. The compact size of the device and the simple setup make this router perfect for my situation.

I bought the Solis unit to be used as a portal mobile Wi-Fi in my vehicle as some places that I travel through for my job are not always cell friendly. There is a particular stretch of rural highway that I travel frequently where my Verizon cell goes to zero bars in spots.

I had success with a built in AT&T Wi-Fi in my previous vehicle but my replacement vehicle did not have a built in so I purchased the Solis as it advertised that it would automatically lock onto the strongest network in the area.

Needless to say, I have been extremely disappointed. In the areas that I need it most, it will take a very long time to lock on to a signal and will not always stay locked in. This is especially frustrating when I’m supposed to be on a Teams meeting for work while driving.

I called tech support and explained my issue and told them how the previous AT&T Wi-Fi unit I was using had very little trouble in this area but for some reason the Solis would not lock onto the AT&T signal on a consistent basis.

I was told to do a reset on the unit. That really didn’t work. Sometimes the unit would work fine in the rural areas but it would not lock in on a good signal on a regular basis and I got tired of pulling over to try to work with it.

I think this would probably work fine as a “sit in one place” device in an area that is not out in the middle of nowhere. although AT&T still works there. but as a mobile Wi-Fi for your vehicle, it’s awful.

Since I’ve had it for almost 6 months, I guess I’m stuck with it so I’ll use up the data I’ve pre-purchased and then do who knows what with it.

Solis resolved my fear of being hacked while using hotel or Free Airport WiFis. Now I carry my own hotspot and I can relax knowing my connection is secure. I have used it in many, many countries and the connection has been great in all of them…even the most remote! I’m not sure how it works in US as I don’t use it there.

It is easy to use, cost effective and the battery charge lasts all day. My travel companions (3) can connect and as long as they are close to my Solis they get their WhatsApp and email. I’ve never been so popular!! This is my second (upgraded) hotspot from this company and I have been totally satisfied with both.

Great customer service helped me transfer unused daypasses from old model to new without issues. It solved my travel problem and it can solve yours!.

This little device was great on a recent road trip – I was able to work from the car while my partner was driving. The only frustrating thing is that a few times, (when switching carriers I guess), it would drop the connection for a minute.

I got cut off in a couple meetings, but it always got me back online quickly. But overall, reliable, convenient, FAR better wifi than I’d get using my phone as a hotspot, and the daypasses are affordable.

Once setup the unit is very easy to use and understand. The Customer Support has been very good so far with fast responses and helpful guidance especially when the device took a little longer than expected to arrive.

Customer support was there all the way. I also like the fact that while I waited for the device the additional 8GB that was not on the original purchase would given to me. I though this was a nice touch.

Seems to work well. Only glitch was it needed a software update to function. You are supposed to use your home WiFi to download the update, but, I did not have WiFi at home. Tried downloading over public WiFi, did not work.

Borrowed a friend’s WiFi, and I had no problem downloading the update. Bottom line, it seems to work ok, but you better have WiFi available to update.

Pretty easy and simple to use, but you have to pay for the GB and depends on how many GB you wanna choose , it works local pretty good. I havent try out of other location yet, while driving i used this for my google map is much better than I use LTE via Tmobile and with no problems at all.

Anyway is a great technology!.
