Do not let the price fool you, This is a product that should be compared to much more expensive products, It can be used in newer PC’s and laptops that have a M. 2 slot. I removed a intel 3165 adapter from my $1100.

00 dell laptop that was giving me no more than 200Mbps down on a 1. 2 gig internet service and am getting anywhere from minimum of 790Mbps to 825 Mbps. For a wireless connection at that speed it is Phenomenal.

I bought this Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 Gig+ kit from Microcenter for 24. 95. I would have paid 3 times that for this WiFi speed, I am not even connecting at WiFi 6 so imagine if I was. My WiFi is Rock Solid, My speed is Phenomenal.

Where ever I am my WiFi is great. I highly recommend this product at any price. And for the record I am a technician with over 36 years experience in IT and was always the hardware guy on the team. This adapter is bringing smiles to me even after 2 months.

It is fabulous and again is Highly recommended, I added 16 GB of ram to my system at the time bringing it to 32GB so the 40. 00 spent to have Microcenter install both was more than worth it. Get it and do not look back.

The card is very reliable and hasn’t failed me yet. I’ve had a few hiccups but they were also present on my usb WiFi cards, so I believe it’s not something that’s specific to this card but rather a location issue or something.

Speeds are a bit slower than initially expected, but still serviceable if you have slower internet (speed is generally below 19mbps). If you have the budget to go for the slightly more expensive models, I’d say go for one of those for better speed.

If not, this is perfectly serviceable.

If your wireless router is in a different room from you, don’t waste your time with this wireless adapter. I’m only about ~25-30 feet from my router and have to go through one wall, and I had nothing but problems with this.

The biggest issue was trying to connect to my 5ghz Wifi band. A lot of the times, it just wouldn’t connect, and when it did, it would usually disconnect after 30-40 minutes. Also, it rarely got good down/up speeds.

I have 250mb/s service and when I was able to connect to the 5ghz, it would only get about 60mb/s. If I was connected to the 2. 4ghz band, which is what I had to do most of the time, my download speeds would be in the 15-20 range.

Ping times were also really bad in the 15-20ms range I know these issues weren’t related to my router because my phone in the same room would get 250-260 on a speedtest. I tried everything I knew to do.

re-installed drivers, re-installed the card itself. reset it within device manager. Nothing worked. I finally gave up on it, and bought the Asus PCE AC56 and all my issues have been solved. Now I’m always connected to my 5ghz band and get 250-260mb/s with 2-5ms ping times.

If you’re in a situation like me where hard line is not a practical option do yourself a favor and spend the extra $50 on the AC56 instead wasting money on this junk.

I was disappointed in the speed of my internet connection. I did a little research and discovered that my my wireless adapter needed to be updated. So off to my local Micro Center, where I knew they would have a good selection for a great price.

What a difference! Speed tests showed a 5 times speed increase. I’m happy with 50 plus Mbps!.

This will be a very niche issue for people but: while not advertising itself as Linux compatible and not including any non-Windows information in the driver CD this product uses an Intel Wireless-AC 7265 chipset which works with the standard iwlwifi driver.

The Bluetooth functionality works via a USB-F cable attaching to the motherboard; there are instructions (and a cable) in the box and I found a compatible port right near the PCIe slot. Bluetooth worked out of the box as well as any Linux Bluetooth does, I have no device-specific complaints there.

I won’t knock a star for it but I would have appreciated a bracket screw to be included – the aerials are quite large so if only held in by the PCIe slot it’s a bit fragile.

This was a replacement Wi-Fi card for one that was not working very well. In addition, it provided Bluetooth which my computer did not have. I have ATT Fiber with Gigabite service, and with my old card I was barely able to stay connected, and when I did, I never got more than 10 MB down, and 2 MB up.

I now routinely connect with between 175 and 350 MB down, and 125 and 300 MB up. I was also looking for a Bluetooth solution and thought I would have utilize one of my external USB devices for that. However, this card has Bluetooth too.

My computer had an internal USB available that the Wi-Fi card connected to and provides excellent Bluetooth connectivity. I am very happy with this device and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade.

My wifi speeds are pretty good with this card. Easy to install and setup. I had to install a compatibility driver which was simple through the manufacturer’s website. I only wish the included instructions explain how to download the driver but it only comes with a CD version.

I would not not recommend this card if you have a Fractal case since the mounting bracket does not completely line up with the card’s mounting bracket, but it still works perfectly fine without being screwed down.

This works very well. It is a little fussy to set up. I had to push the connect button on the router a couple of times. I get speeds 160/200. I bought a top rated brand at a much higher price and had to return it.

Although it was easier to set up, it died in less than 24 hours. I cannot speak about longevity but so far so go. I would buy again for sure.

This nano design made it easy to replace my laptop’s existing wireless capability with access to both 2. 4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi networks. This dual-band Wi-Fi adapter supports very fast data rates of up to 433 Mbps on the 5GHz band, and up to 150Mbps on the 2.

4GHz band. My only ask for this device would be that it not have a driver CD, but integrate the driver into the device itself. I got this to use for wifi in an ASUS mini-PC where the on-board Intel wifi garbage quit (like most Intel networking junk seems to, in those rare cases where it works to begin with). Frankly, given my history with TP-Link products and how cheap this was, I didn’t have high expectations that it would even work.

I’m amazed at how well this little guy works. For not having an antenna and just being a bump plugged in, it is incredible! Identified by Windows 10 without even using the included CD. Very nice TP-Link; seems you have come a long way over the years.

I’ll probably be giving you a shot again in future builds.

I have a need for a second wifi adapter because of a piece of hardware that connects via wifi but runs with a program that also needs internet. I’m not in a position where I can plug into a ethernet connection so this solves the problem very well.

I went on to the website and downloaded the driver and plugged it in and it works flawlessly. A great solution for someone who needs a Wi-Fi adapter.

My old Asus laptop was frequently dropping off my wifi network due to a problem with the built in network adaptor. After disabling the built in network adaptor I installed the UGREEN AC1300 USB WiFi Adapter and it has been working perfectly for over a month now.

I’m even getting a faster connection than I was previously.

Had a problem with a CISCO device that was 12 years old, the signal kept dropping out. This new device fixed the problem. No problem integrating into my Windows 10 program. Works great! Highly recommend.

This adapter can have problems connecting to a 5G network, which I discovered after hours and hours of trying to get it to connect. It could not connect to my 5G network, and couldn’t even see it, but my phone and tablet could.

Also, this adapter is relatively old (perhaps 2014-2015). The problem arises because some of the 5G network channels are what are called DFS 5G channels. This adapter cannot “see” or connect with those channels.

As such, if your router is set to a DFS channel, or if your router is set to automatically choose a channel and it chooses a DFS channel, it won’t connect. And it won’t even see the SSID for your 5G network.

And that is the case even if you manually enter the SSID into your adapter/wireless software. You can also search online for a list of which 5g channels are DFS channels, and you can look in your router to see if your 5g network is using one of those DFS 5g channels [or perhaps it is set to automatic (as many are) and set itself to a DFS 5g channel].

When I manually changed the 5g channel in the router to a non-DFS channel, the adapter saw the 5g network SSID and connected. So it is fixable, manually, but less than optimal because you have to figure out which channel to pick, and which channel is best in your area, and some channels are faster than others.

And many of those issues could be resolved automatically by the adapter if the adapter worked with DFS channels. Also, this problem could cause your adapter to have and then lose a connection if the router is set to automatic and changes the channel to a DFS channel.

And yes, I updated the driver for the adapter, but I found that the newest driver from ASUS is from 2015 and it still does not see DFS channels. I would have sent it back but my 2. 4 g network is working well.

Bottom line, buy a different adapter. One that works with DFS 5g channels.

Received: 04-APR-2019 OS: Windows 10 Home 1809 (Build: 17763. 404) Motherboard: Gigabyte Z270XP-SLI I purchased this card as a replacement for a Asus PCE-AC55BT which had recently started having intermittent issues.

Before installing the new card I went to the Asus website to get the drivers (the provided CD doesn’t do me any good as I don’t have an optical drive handy). The website has a utility to download, but under driver is says that a driver is NOT needed as the card is compatible with the built in Windows 10 drivers.

Cool. But, I downloaded the utility just in case. After installing the card was detected and a Broadcom driver was installed by Windows. a driver from 2013. Using the Broadcom driver I was only able to get ~15Mbps.

I was expecting ~300Mbps. (My old card got ~250Mbps but the PCE56 has a nicer antenna so I was hoping for more. ) Obviously this was no good so I installed the utility. Turns out (contrary to what is stated on the Asus website) the utility does have a proper Asus driver.

But after installing I couldn’t get my card to connect to my WiFi router. It would connect for a few seconds then disconnect. At on point I rebooted my router and everything worked. for about a minute.

then we went back to the constant connect/disconnect state. I banged my head against it for a while, even changed PCIe slots, but nothing seemed to work. I couldn’t get the card to stay connected. Finally just as a random attempt, I reinstalled the utility, but this time instead of the utility and drivers I opted only for the drivers.

Suddenly everything started working. And, I was able to get my full 500Mbps, sweet.

The driver support for this card is absolutely terrible. I repeatedly contacted ASUS support and requested an updated driver to be uploaded ASAP and after nearly a year they finally did. However the driver does not even fix the problems associated with 802.

11ac and I spent nearly 20 hours on the phone with them over the course of a year guiding them on how to rectify the issue. ASUS creates quality motherboards GPU’s and other components, even routers but this wireless adapter is horrifyingly unreliable.

802. 11ac does not work whatsoever and 802. 11n constantly crashes, so I am back to my Ethernet connection. On top of the terrible adapter the customer service ASUS used to be incredible for seems to have gone the way of the dodo.

Constant lies and patronizing even though I knew exponentially more than their representatives who just lied and committed to broken promises of support and calling back just to get me off the phone.

Dear ASUS, I love your company for your motherboards, GPU’s, laptops and routers. I am a brand loyalist. But I kid you not, if you do not release a proper fix for this adapters connectivity issues I will take my loyalty to another brand and purchase all components from them instead of yourselves.

You should not patronize your customers with senseless small talk from your representatives and when a service report is generated your IT/Tech department should be responsive to its data regardless of their personal communication with customer service.

I honestly do not expect to hear from you but I hope this review will shed some light on your company right now and maybe even influence it to become what it used to be. If I do hear from you please do not tell me to contact your customer support for help, they are no help.

They know nothing. Either get me a direct line to someone important or don’t communicate with me at all and just fix the problem by updating the drivers to focus on this adapters issues with 802. 11ac connectivity because your new drivers still do NOT work.

Maybe then I can renew my faith in what used to be some of the best components the market had to offer. Thank you.

I purchased this because I got tired of my USB wireless adapter not performing well. The one I bought had an issue with being stuck in USB2 even though it’s advertised as USB3. This capped my download speeds at ~300 Mbps, not very ideal considering I’m pay for 400 Mbps internet service.

I decided to go with PCI-E to eliminate the issues associated with USB dongles. Even with the router 20+ feet away and behind at least one wall, I can achieve almost maximum link speed of ~800 Mbps on the 5 Ghz band.

Speed tests always show this is downloading at ~430 Mbps, the same as if connected via Ethernet. Of course Ethernet is superior than wireless, but it’s amazing that modern wireless speeds are approaching gigabit speed.

The best drivers are actually the Broadcom drivers installed by Windows when first plugged in. I would stay away from any ASUS drivers found online. The ones I found online caused this to have terrible performance, with link speed limited to ~200 Mbps.

Not very ideal considering this can perform 800+ Mbps. Driver rollback instantly fixed the performance issue. On most full-size ATX boards, the smaller PCI-E slot this fits in is right in between the two larger PCI-E x16 slots.

Contrary to what another reviewer said, this DOES fit with 2 large modern graphics cards. I have 2x Nvidia 980s in SLI format with a large aftermarket cooler (EVGA ACX 2. 0 coolers) and this fits in between them.

It’s snug, but it fits. After installing this, there’s not much space between, maybe 5 mm between the adapter and graphics cards.

Now that it is working i have no problems, but it was an unpleasant process getting there. I tried every driver i could get my hands on, but it would either not see the 5Ghz wifi, or see it but not be able to connect.

This device uses a common chipset, so you can drive yourselft crazy looking for drivers because there are a million of them out there. So here’s how i Fixed it: 1. Uninstall the Asus/whatever WiFi driver if you have already installed any, power down the system and remove the card 1.

on a Gigabyte MB, go into the BIOS 2. Go to “Miscellaneous Settings” 3. Change “Max Link Speed” from “Auto” to “Gen 3”. Note: this option could be called something like “PCI speed” or something like that.

4. Save changes, power down, and install card. 5. Both the default Windows 10 driver and the driver from Asus should work now. Don’t install the Asus network utitlity, just the driver. It was really buggy for me and doesn’t really give you any additional features that make it worth it.

So, changing the BIOS PCI setting was mentioned by another reviewer, but they said it had to do with them having two graphics cards. I only have one GPU, and my PCI settings were called something else so it was hard to nail this one down.

I kinda feel bad for deducting 2 stars for this, but if you google “PCE-56 5Ghz”, you’ll see a million posts from people having this exact problem, and Asus doesn’t give any information on their website regarding how to solve it.

It’s clearly a common issue with a pretty simple fix, so it seems childish to not put it in a FAQ. Also, if you are looking at this card, be aware that it is several years old and there are newer options for the same price that also come with built in Bluetooth.

In hindsight, i wish i had known that.

I get a strong connection with this adapter. It doesn’t make the internet speeds faster unfortunately, but that’s more on my provider. This little card is great. I wish it had Bluetooth too, but you can’t have everything.

My advice is if you can find another adapter that includes Bluetooth for around ten dollars more, it’s worth the investment. I regret not doing so, and now I either have to buy another adapter or use up a usb slot for that adapter.

One reviewer listed the chipset in this device as RTL 8192, which for a linux user is right on. I found after the cmd. (as root) ” lspci -nnv | less ” to my surprise the details were of a Ralink 5392 chipset.

While an easy fix is available in the. deb RT 5390 file, and I happen to like Ralink chipsets, the producers of these devices could easily list the chipset in the product description. The chipset drives ALL aspects of the device, and when vending a pci-e (x1) product that standard of revelation in product descriptions needs to be the norm, not the exception.

It wasn’t easy finding a wifi card of the interface I needed that had a known chipset manufacturer other than Realtek, but this is the one I found. Most brands don’t show that spec sheet on their listing with a chipset ID included.

But after the Realtek Linux driver security bug became public knowledge, I went on the look for a new card with a different chipset, manufacturer. And this was the first one I found with a verification that it had a Ralink chipset instead.

Most PCIe WiFi adapters have normal antennas attached directly to the card behind the case. This one gave me more versatility than those allowing me to place it anywhere on my desk unobstructed by a wall or my pc case.

Would’ve been a 5 star review, but the cord is a bit short and there wasn’t any type of adhesive or Velcro included. Needs about another foot if your pc is below your desk. If you have your case on top of your desk the cord length is fine.

I mention the adhesive because the cord causes the housing for the antenna to not sit right on a flat surface it’s always lifted at an angle, and the housing is so light that it constantly slides and moves with the slightest touch or bump.

Potentially falling or getting caught on something and being pulled. The cords are very thin so a hard unintentional tug could cause serious damage.

This is a great wireless adapter for Linux. I’m running Linux Mint 20. 3 with kernel 5. 13 and it detected the first time without any additional drivers. After I set it to use 5Ghz my transfer speeds were 200 – 400 megabits/sec and 200 – 400 megabits/sec up and often were above 300 megabits/sec up and down.

I can achieve 50 megabytes/sec downloads from Steam. My home router has 4 antennas so these speeds are about what I expected. If I want faster speeds I may pick up the ASUS PCE-AC88. I am very satisfied for the performance at this price.

I was a huge non-believer in wireless & refused to get a built in adapter until now. The new router paired with this adapter is so fast that it matched the performance of my wired connection! Granted, my internet connection is only 50mbps, but still.

It maxed out the ISP’s advertised speeds with the same ping as that of the wired connection. The Bluetooth is the added cherry on top! Previously, I used a micro USB dongle to provide Bluetooth coverage.

As some of you may know, there is interference due to the USB 3. 0 ports. This made using Bluetooth horrible, with controllers timing out/disconnecting completely, and not having enough bandwidth to use true wireless earbuds without audio distortion.

The Bluetooth 5 functionality provided by the network adapter solves it completely! It no longer suffers from the USB 3. 0 interference and the coverage is boosted by a large amount! Connection issues are a thing of the past, and all devices work perfectly now.

In conclusion, I’d recommend this network adapter to anybody who needs one and perhaps just upgraded their wireless router. It’s the real deal and will definitely get you the performance you’re looking for and THEN some!.

I was having trouble with gaming on wired connection and using wireless was suggested as a fix the issue. To get best performance with my Asus RT-AC87U I decided on this adapter. The adapter uses a RealTek chipset.

The chipset gets good reviews and is used in several different wireless adapters. The adapter supports MIMO. I was easily able to get a wireless 2. 4 Ghz band connect (WiFi N), but nothing on 5 Ghz (WiFi A/AC).

The problem turned out to be the control channel on the 5Ghz band. The USB-AC68 is designed to operate in multiple countries, and as such, does not operate on all channels. Once I set the control channel to a low value, the unit linked up without problem.

I tried both channel 44 and 48 with a solid link. One thing to note is a near total lack of documentation for the advanced wireless settings. Some searching on Internet revealed some information, but I never was able to get information on all of the settings.

Fortunately, this does not seem to cause a problem. A search on each of the setting names may give you enough assistance to get optimal performance. Two final notes. First is a minor complaint. Asus would have done better to put a magnet in the base of the antenna to help keep it mounted and stationary on the PC case.

A piece of Velcro will do just as well. Second, I have since upgraded the router to a Linksys EA9500 AC5400. The adapter performs just fine with this router as well.

I went in to Micro Center to get a wi-fi adapter for my ASUS Z270-A motherboard, because I didn’t have the means to connect my motherboard through ethernet. The staff helped me pick out two, and recommended the more expensive one, which I was a bit skeptical of at the time.

However, I decided to trust them and figured I could always return it if needed. Unsure of how it would work, I connected the ASUS AX3000 PCE-AX58BT WiFi 6 Dual Band PCIe Wireless Adapter w/ Bluetooth 5.

0 to my motherboard, and it worked seamlessly. It was super easy to use! I had another motherboard I needed it for and ended up buying two at the time, and it worked flawlessly for both of them. I highly recommend this product to anyone who needs a wi-fi adapter for their motherboards whether it’s for mining or gaming.

They work great and I will purchase more in the future, if I need them. The product also came with an installation CD, but I didn’t have a way to use the CD and was worried the software wasn’t going to work.

This product uses the Intel AX200 chipset. If your motherboard has the right M. 2 key, then it is cheaper to directly buy the AX200 desktop kit and save a PCIe slot. Otherwise, you would need an adapter board to use the AX200 kit, and it is easier to use this product instead.

Out of the box, it worked with default Windows and Ubuntu drivers, making for fairly minimal setup. Wi-Fi has been fast, and I have not seen any issues there. However, Bluetooth occasionally struggles to connect to a device.

In my experience, it always connects, but it might take a few seconds longer than you expect. Overall, the product works well and meets expectations.

My old WiFi card was still working fine, but starting showing some early symptoms that it might be end of life. So I decided it was time to upgrade. I wanted performance, but I didn’t want to break the bank, so I did some Internet searches for best gaming cards.

This card featured prominently as an older card that still performed well but was cheaper than the bleeding edge cards. Installing this card my PC instantly went from roughly 30Mbps to around 350Mbps with two walls between the router and me.

Shipping was fast and everything was in great condition. Recommended.

Needing internet connectivity and wanting to avoid wireless, I tried using Powerline Ethernet adapters, but the signal just was not very stable and it did not provide sufficient speeds (slower than the ISP provided speeds).

Enter this wireless card. I wanted a wireless adapter that was not USB based, since my motherboard is on the fritz (old computer) and occasionally USB devices will just stop working until the system is rebooted.

Generally speaking TP-Link tends to make very competitive offerings for networking equipment. This wireless card is no different. It provides very respectable speeds at a decent pricepoint and a nice form factor.

When it is working well, I get my full 125mbps download speeds on my computer and latency when gaming is acceptable. It also works fine with Windows 10. On occasion (which I have not been able to narrow down the cause quite yet) it will seem to struggle to keep up with the usual gaming/streaming tasks it usually does.

It is possible I could blame my WAP, but it is Ubiquiti and the network isn’t really saturated. Regardless, it doesn’t occur too often and a reboot usually to clear it up. The range is great. I have no problems connecting to a WAP in the basement while my desktop is on the second floor.

One thing I did notice was that the wireless card tended to favor the stronger signal of the 2. 4 GHz instead of the higher throughput of the 5 GHz network from my WAP. Initially I had the WAP broadcasting both networks on the same SSID.

I ended up splitting them so I could specify the 5 GHz network which significantly improved speeds and reliability despite a “weaker” signal. Overall I recommend this card if you need something that works fine and doesn’t cost your firstborn child when you can’t get Ethernet to your workstation.

There are better cards out there, but for most people this is sufficient.

I bought this card specifically because reviewers indicated that it works with Fedora. This is *mostly* true for Fedora 30, but *hardly* for 31. The “correct” drivers to use (broadcom-wl-dkms) require the UnitedRPMs repository which seems to be quite flaky.

Half the time, the package can’t even be downloaded from the UnitedRPMs repository. Half of the remaining time, the package *can* be installed but doesn’t work. This may be a problem with Fedora 31 and not UnitedRPMs, but I couldn’t even get a driver for CentOS.

If you buy Wireless Cards for Linux because you need a project, this is the card for you. In my case, I just need a wireless card that works. If you are like me, stick with Intel chipsets, not broadcom chipsets.

2-eggs because Linux users are an afterthought for Broadcom. This is not the first time Broadcom chipsets have caused issues for this Linux user.

Nothing bad to say about this WiFi card. It installs easily and works right our of the box. Downloading the latest available drivers is always recommend to ensure it works to the fullest. I see very good speeds when on my home’s WiFi.

If your motherboard doesn’t have built in WiFi, this is a great addition to your build. Even if your board has WiFi, this could be even better. Very happy with the purchase and if I need another one, I’d buy a TP-Link card.

Box shows it only works with older linux kernels, but don’t be fooled, it works with newer ones as well. I’m on 5. 13 (sadly, it’s for work) and I did have to compile a driver I found on GitHub to get it to work reliably (google around for “ubuntu 20.

04″ + the name of this device model from the box, you’ll find it), but once I did it works great. Although now that I think about it, this could cause issues for people on linux who aren’t that tech-y.

This is the only one MicroCenter had that said it supported linux, so if you know what you’re doing you’ll be fine, but if that scares you maybe do some more research with your particular distro version before buying.

I have tried to use this a number of times. I have had success with it seeing my wifi network and connect and used successfully once (after about 30 mins fiddling around and updating drivers to actually find my wifi).

This is a hit or miss whether it even sees my wifi network which is actually visible on other devices. It is not an issue with signal – my place is so small that I get full bars in all rooms (just don’t want to run cords to the old desktop pc ).

It successfully see’s my wifi one time and since then I cant get it to even recognise my wifi network. either shows no networks or the neighbours locked network (which sometimes I wish I had the password for.

lol). Don’t waste your money or your sanity. Buy something else. I’m even taunted of the brand all together.

The built-in wifi adapter on my mini-PC was constantly dropping connections, so I disabled it and installed this product. My problems were immediately fixed. This adapter is fine for basic internet use, and I can reliably stream at 720p.

If you are looking for something for HD streaming, gaming, large file copy, etc. you will be better off with a more expensive option. But for basic connectivity this a perfectly functional and inexpensive option.

Extremely easy to install and set up. Looks slick, and the magnets are STRONG for mounting. The speed was definitely there (router was in the living room and the pc was in the upstairs bedroom) so the signal was traveling a pretty far distance and through several walls.

Still excellent signal! I only used it for about a week as I had wiring installed in the house and ended up being able to hardwire the pc again. While using it though, I saw very little difference in performance while gaming (COD, Halo, Mordhau, Tarkov).

There was MAYBE a few seconds difference in load times between using the card and being hardwired.

I had a USB 3. 0 AC 1200 Wifi Network Adapter that after nearly 6 years of flawless service was having connection problems. Not completely sure, but my guess is that the integrated adjustable antenna had a worn out wire/connector, or the USB plug may have worn out.

Having to unplug/replug, and change the USB port location to get it recognized finally got so bad I had to replace the unit. It did a great job, but it was time to upgrade to something better. Prices for USB based Wifi NICs has increased a bit, and most were not offering better then what I had been using.

I noticed a few PCI-E options, and the price points were better then what USB option were offering. My last PCI based card for NIC was a Wifi B/G that compared to current standards was quite slow. I read up on new options, and tried to watch some youtube reviews (random disconnects made this fun).

I got the options down to AC 1900 when I saw the Asus PCE-AC88 AC3100. The price point was only a few dollars more, but the claims made it sound far better. I did worry that I might not see much of the higher speed due to my rural living location.

Turned out I was worried about nothing. I was able to install the card easy. Software/Driver was mostly pain free, but did take a bit of work to get some programs to notice I had changed my NIC. Once that was corrected I learned what advanced setting would best benefit my network.

After some more reading I found the best options. My old USB Wifi NIC would usually maintain a 95% signal at 130 Mbps with 172 Mbps for short periods. The Asus PCE-AC88 started at 100% at 195 Mbps, and after optimized tweaks is steady at 233 Mbps.

Web browsing is quite fast with no pauses in opening browser sessions unlike the past year where I could wait 5 to 10 seconds for email/facebook to open up. I am not seeing any better online gaming latency/ping, but never had any trouble until the random disconnects.

Music/Video streaming is quite good, and I can get 1080p quality to play with no pre-buffering. My only minor dislike is the lack of a utility program that shows your NIC signal/speed info in real time.

I tried to use the utility from my previous NIC, but it does not recognize the Asus PCE-AC88. Miss having that in my task bar, but it is just a minor thing. So I definitely suggest the Asus PCE-AC88 for anyone that wants a PCI-E based NIC card.

Good value, rather easy to install, and it does perform quite well.

This is a great wireless card. Comparing speeds to my wired connection, my download/upload speed wired is 350 Mbps download( Megabits, not MegaBytes, this equates to about 40-45 MB/s download speed), 10 Mbps upload speed.

Wireless was 325 Mbps download/5 Mbps upload. Drivers come on a cd drive so consider downloading from a wired connection prior to installing the card directly from the website if you dont have a optical drive in your pc.
