20 Best Whole Foods Salad Dressing (2023 Updated)

Primal Kitchen is absolutely amazing. I have been using their Buffalo sauce on everything since I first tasted it. It is going to be the same with this new Ranch Dressing. It has this wonderful consistency that is only slightly oily and wonderful to eat.

The Ranch flavor is very natural and not too strong. You can get a slight hint of avocado along with some subtle spices as well. It is a wonderful addition to any meal that somehow seems to always add the right amount of flavor in the right direction.

I have dipped vegetarian buffalo wings and vegetables in it while watching hockey, put it on vegetarian egg and chorizo soft tacos first thing in the morning, and used it as the finishing touch for every salad I have at night.

It is perfect for every food and every time of day. Primal Kitchen understands flavor more than any other company in the market including the billion dollar giants.

This Caesar dressing lacked taste. Even though there is supposed to be roasted garlic, garlic powder and rosemary extract I couldn’t even taste any of it. It was also a little more tart than I would have expected or liked it to be with the apple cider and distilled vinegars present.

It really didn’t taste like a Caesar dressing at all. Couldn’t taste the black pepper either. There is a taste that carries through while you are eating it but I couldn’t put my finger on what it was exactly, it just tasted cardboard like.

Personally I wouldn’t buy this for all the above reasons and the price at $10 a bottle for only 235 ml is also a turn off. It’s also missing any kind of cheese like the obvious parmesan or Romano that I would have expected to be one of the ingredients.

I don’t buy much (air quotes) organic sauces but if they’re all like this one was, I don’t think I’d buy any again. Would definitely not recommend this to anyone as almost everyone I know are foodies like me.

As far as organic goes, a home made dressing would beat this hands down using all natural ingredients like egg yolk and lemon juice. Just an end note, I do not have a cold and there is nothing wrong with my tasting or smelling.

I actually smelled it from the bottle as well and it’s exactly the way I described it in its smell as well. It actually smelled like a bland ranch dressing. Come to think of it, that’s the best way to put how it tastes because there was no other flavors.

The only thing positive that I could say about this product, is that the texture is just right.

I really thought I was going to like this. I normally like Primal Kitchen mayo’s and I thought I was going to like the Vegan Ranch Dressing. It looked great from the outside when it was unopened. When I opened it up, the color wasn’t that appetizing to me, it was an off yellow color and not white like normal Ranch Dressings.

I pushed on through with the taste despite being put ogg by the color, it did NOT taste like Ranch. I don’t even know what it’s trying to be. It’s an okay dip if your not thinking its Ranch. While it is okay as a dip and not a dressing, I didn’t particialry enjoy the consistincy of it.

I kept shaking it to get back to it “original” state. It kept thicking up- if thats the correct term, and the top kept getting oil after long periods of stasis. I won’t be buying this again.

I was sooo upset when Annie’s made Green Garlic so hard to find. Thankfully Vitacost still has it and at a fair price. Annie’s and many other health food companies need to promote their products!! Green Garlic may not be the best dressing on a salad, as it’s a little strong.

But to me it is the best Dressing for a cold pasta salad. Just prepare a mix of a few different healthy pastas. Then add sliced black olives, cherry tomatoes and possibly small pieces of fresh, uncooked broccoli and pour this Annie’s Dressing over it all.

Wonderful!! Also for vegetarians, and vegans who eat vegan cheese, I swear that if you have a provolone (with smoky flavor), sandwich on rye bread and a thin slice of tomato and instead of mustard use this Green Garlic as the condiment on your sandwich, you may think you are eating a vegetarian take on a pastrami sandwich.

Sooo good! Also messy, but incredible, instead of butter on fresh corn on the cob. Or an August fresh tomato sandwich with Green Garlic dressing. And yes, on corn bread or banana bread instead of butter.

It doesn’t matter to me whether this is organic or not, this just happened to be the one in stock. I LOVE this! I can add extra vinegar for a pasta salad. I can also use this as a dip and add a little touch of chives or parsley if I desire.

I also use a neutral (usually Hain) mayo to thicken for a spread. My spread always has something added-whether onions, peppers, pickles, herbs, or anything else that will add to whatever I’m serving.

I’m tired of purchasing 15 different ingredients for ONE dish, when ALL I NEED to do is just start with a BASE! This dressing adds to my pantry selections, along with MANY freeze dried herbs. This way, I have everything at the ready! This is good dressing!.

It has been over 10 years since I first tried this, but I really didn’t care for it very much. I do love nutritional yeast flakes in my salad dressing, and I put them in mine, when I make my own. I actually like most of the ingredients in this dressing, but for some reason, I didn’t like it.

Maybe the ratio of some ingredients. I think the main reason is that is was very sour and bitter tasting. Italian salad dressing has always been my favorite (it does have a bit of sweetness to Italian dressing too), but they really taste very little alike.

I also love balsamic, and soy ginger dressings, but I just recommend this one, if you like your dressing with zero sweetness, and a lot of tang! It is vegan though, which is why I tried it, and it comes in a glass bottle.

There are many cheaper dressings available, but the great thing about this one is it’s not full of preservatives and msg’s! I was able to add stuff and make it edible, but I only repurchased once, and I didn’t really like it very much that time either.

As my tastes have changed to some degree, I’d love to try it again soon though. Some of their dressings aren’t vegan.

Let me start by first saying that I have, since I was a child, detested vinegar-based dressings. I have never been a fan and typically try to stay away from them. I purchased a bottle of this dressing a while back and could not believe how much I loved it.

It isn’t too tangy, doesn’t leave that acidic film in my mouth, and it tastes so good. The combination is perfect. I don’t think I’ve ever had a salad dressing so well designed. Out of curiosity, I checked to see if Vitacost had this dressing, since I was able to find the vinegar, and my eyes nearly popped out of my head.

I paid a little over $6 the last time I purchased it and here it was discounted at a better price on the Vitacost site. I was able to get it for less than $5. I know that’s only a dollar difference, but I pinch pennies wherever I can.

This dressing is great on salads, but I could pour it in a shot glass and enjoy it that way as well, though I won’t. The health benefits are also great. It has pro/prebiotics, is antibacterial (ginger, garlic), antioxidants and good fats (sesame seeds, garlic), and tastes so good, if I haven’t mentioned it before.

This is the first time I tried this particular product from Bragg;delicious!!! I have purchased several others and was extremely satisfied! This Vinaigrette is perfect for salads or marinades. Hard to believe it is oil free because it is sooo good!!! Anything from this company is a winner! Highly recommend.

I have some pretty heavy dietary restrictions and use this as salad dressing nearly every day. My only small gripe is that if you are having a large salad, the recommended amount does not go very far taste wise and the more you put in the salad, the more sodium you are getting.

A sodium free version of this, perhaps with potassium sulfate would be absolute perfection. So happy to find this on Vitacost. With all the health consciouness today, you’d think more local shops would carry it but it’s nearly impossible to find.

This is my current favorite dressing. I adore the berry flavor! It tastes so good on a salad and compliments all the veggies wonderfully (lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, etc). We originally bought it since my mom had to watch her sodium intake, and it’s a low sodium dressing.

We were pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was, considering how my mom usually hates lite foods since they don’t always taste good or have an after taste. This goes against that trend. No weird lingering taste, just amazing raspberry goodness.

Annie’s generally makes good products, but this dressing really isn’t one. It tastes mostly of the canola/sunflower blend, which is to say, like nothing. Then I think I detected a very slight sweetness which might possibly be reminiscent of balsamic — maybe.

The other reviewer tasted mustard. I guess there is a little. Any and all flavor is watered down and muted as all hell. It needs seasonings, more balsamic and maybe just a touch of olive oil. Back to the drawing board, please! (I bought this product at my local food coop.

This is one of my favourite dressings and the only brand of raspberry vinaigrette I will use. It is SOOOOOOO tasty and refreshing and delicious. It turns my salad into a delectable treasure! No more boring icky salads when using this brand and this flavour! I also like dipping french bread in it.

So tastey!!!! I recommend using this for all your salad needs and experiencing outside the box with it too!.

I have tried the Ranch, Chipotle Ranch, Bac’n Ranch, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Honey Dijon, Thousand Island, and Caesar. All the ranch flavors are pretty nice. Chipotle by far has the most “typical” dressing flavor, but of course the heat and peppery flavor doesn’t always suit.

The Bac’n one has a strong artificial bacon flavoring, similar to those crunchy soy bacon bits. Actually, I think it has those bits in the dressing. I like it a lot, though, personally. The plain ranch is a little bland, but fine.

Not quite herby and black peppery enough for me. I’ll probably stick to the flavored ranches. The balsamic is quite decent, but not very tart. This is easily amended by adding some vinegar. The honey dijon and thousand island are good decent representations of the style.

The honey dijon makes an excellent dipping sauce. All of the above taste quite nice and flavorful as a dipping sauce but become a bit bland (or require a lot!) when tossed into a salad. I usually add some vinegar and maybe a dash of extra salt to punch up the flavor without adding calories.

I may add a few drops of oil if I have calories to spare. Last and also certainly least. the caesar. It’s terrible. As another reviewer noted, it has an unmistakeable aftertaste of vomit. I tried to convince myself that I only felt that way because I read that review so I wouldn’t waste a bottle of dressing, but I had to throw it out.

I don’t know if it’s something they’re using to recreate the “anchovy” flavor or the tartness or something else, but it’s absolutely awful. Stick to the other options. Put bac’n ranch on your “caesar” salad and call it a day.

I purchase MANY dressings from here because I can’t always get locally. This is perfect for a beef or chicken marinade. My favourite meal is rice pilaf with various grilled vegetables (such as green/yellow squash, onions, peppers, cabbage, mushrooms tomatoes, celery, etc.

), and this added on the veggies as soon as they come off the grill. I can’t have tofu or beans, but I bet they would be a good addition to this. Maybe a chick pea salad. Olive oil is also a definite NO NO along with avocados, so I’m grateful Vitacost has SO many choices! I can stay within my diet restrictions, still eat healthy AND hearty!.

This is pretty much the only salad dressing I use now after trying many. It is authentic and delicious. It is, to me, high in calories, so I pour off 1/4 cup of the oil. It still tastes great and is a lot less oily tasting.

This, of course, raises the price which is why I appreciate Walmart selling it. That and it is not easy to find in stores. Please note the image on the website does not match the product. This is causing me to be hesitant about ordering it in quantity.

This has RUINED other dressings for me. I was a cheap dressing person until I tried this on sale and I WILL NEVER GO BACK. It’s delicious on salads, chicken, baked potatoes, pasta and even stir fry. Saute some mushrooms and toss in this dressing for a side dish that people will think you stole from a Michelin starred restaurant.

Love this dressing / marinade. It’s the only one I use. The ingredients are safe and healthy. It can be mixed with a little plain yogurt to make a creamy salad dressing. YUM ! It’s great and ginger helps the body to digest ! Thank you Bragg’s !!.

the best thing for anything. I take broccoli and put in bowl with onion, bell pepper and this dressing and let sit overnight. When you serve the next day it is all through the veggies. It is awesome.

I also put bacon bits on it and mix in. The taste is poppy seed completely and the best flavor you could ask for. Put on a bake potato instead of butter even and it is wonderful. You can find 100 ways to use this.

Hated the taste. Hated the texture. Organic Ville ranch dressing is very tangy. Vinegar like. Almost like a sweet tart tangy. Definitely will make your lips pucker. If I wanted a balsamic vinaigrette, then I would have bought that flavor.

Being that I was expecting a full flavor ranch my expectations were let down. I would probably appreciate the taste a little more if they advertised the flavor as a different profile. I would definitely not say it is ranch.

Okay. Enough about the taste and flavor. I also did not like how very thin the dressing was. Once again, in my opinion, it’s ranch. Ranch to me is supposed to be creamy, able to coat things nicely. As long as you use the proper measurement then the calories, fat content, or whatever people count now a days will not be that much affected with a regular bottle of ranch.

I’m not too sure on why they came out with the organic ville line of products. But I can also guarantee that I will not be trying any other flavors based on my experience with ranch. The only pro side is that it claims to be healthier.

Okay, I get it, dairy free, gluten-free. If it doesn’t taste good then what’s the point.

This dressing has no french dressing flavor whatsoever. It tastes solely like strong vinegar. I even tried mixing and mixing it to no avail. I am very disappointed as Organicville products are usually extrodiarnyly good.

But not this product and I will not buy this one again.

For diabetics this product only has 1gram of carbohydrate per serving. Also, we have been so satisfied with Vitacost company. We like that they are on the east coast as are we, so delivery is less complicated.

But they are fast and efficient in delivery. Have not had a problem and have made several purchases over the past several years. We are very happy to have found this site. They have many healthy products that we like to purchase.

Know they will keep up the good work.

I’ve just recently started using the Italian mixes on a regular basis, to make my own salad dressing. Wow, what flavor! And it’s got a nice little zing in there, too! I usually juice a couple of lemons instead of using vinegar, pour that into a bottle, add the mix, and shake it up really well before I add whatever oil I have on hand (it does need to set a bit once you’ve thrown it all together, for the dry ingredients to moisten up).

If I need to, I can add some good apple cider vinegar or red wine vinegar, too. Wowza! Oh – and I’ve started sprinkling on some good garlic powder (Vitacost), and a little extra salt on all my salads, too, once they’re dressed, then mix it all up.

I almost always dice up a garlic clove in my salads, but the garlic powder is still a great addition. Ooh – try garlic powder on sandwiches, too.

THERE WAS AN EARLIER VERSION OF IT, WHICH I ALWAYS BOUGHT AND ENJOYED. THIS ONE SEEMS TO HAVE A LIVELIER TASTE. IT MAY BE LESS CONVENIENT THAN JUST OPENING A BOTTLE OF READY MADE DRESSING BUT THE FRESHER TASTE MAKES IT WORTHWHILE.

This has no flavor at all, but certainly is overwhelmed by the chili peppers which is about the only thing you can taste – that and the oil you add. Unfortunately I was forced to buy two and don’t even want the second packet.

I have loved Annie’s products ever since I fell in love with their shells and white cheddar mac ‘n cheese. I make it vegan ingredients to keep my lactose sensitivity at bay. And white truffle oil or truffle salt makes Annie’s shells and white cheddar mac ‘n cheese a dream come true.

It’s so good! After falling in love with Annie’s mac ‘n cheese, I started testing out more products from her food lines and accoutrements. This dressing doesn’t disappoint. It reminds me of an even more delicious version of the Goddess dressing from Trader Joe’s and it is the perfect salad dressing to take a salad from bland to an amazing sensory experience.

The flavor of this dressing is amazing. I find that it goes with any salad fixings you could possibly want to make it with (even with a broccoli slaw plus additional ingredients for a nice, refreshing Summer side salad).

This dressing doesn’t disappoint.

Please Annie’s Naturals! Don’t discontinue this dressing. I’ve tried others and Annie’s Naturals Organic Green Garlic Dressing is the very best. Just enough garlic to be tasty, and no vinegar. A win win!.

Amazing dairy-free, organic, low fat dressing! Seriously can’t get enough of this stuff. The tahini gives it a savory, slightly nutty taste that’s balanced well with brightness of the lemon. It’s dense so a little goes a long way.

Yum. I don’t know what’s in this but it is so good. Makes any salad and sandwich way better. There is nothing else that would improve this product. I didn’t look at the calories but it feels fresh and healthy.

I would def recommend trying this if you haven’t already.

Let me tell you all something about this salad dressing, I am only able to get this dressing because of my severe dairy allergens and there is no Dairy in it. There are other dressings that I could use , and I chose not to.

This dressing is the best salad dressing out there ever. I love the thickness of the dressing and everything in it that makes it was it is. This dressing trully deserves an award. There is no other dressing like this out there.

Delicious. It’s hard to find good organic salad dressings that aren’t full of sugar. This dressing does not disappoint. Tastes better than commercial conventional dressings. It’s my new favorite.
