Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum is a premium Caribbean Rum with spice other natural flavours. It’s alcohol by volume is 35% which might explain why it’s one of my husband favourites. He’s the main Rum drinker in our house and particularly enjoys Captain Morgan Rum mixed with Coke Zero and ice🥃 Personally l enjoy it in a Dirty Banana Cocktail, all ingredients need to mixed in a blender 🍹😉.

I ordered two 10 pack sleeves of mini bottles. I really wanted my mini bottles to arrive in the original sleeves with brand graphics. What I received was 20 mini bottles loose, but very well protected – a disappointment none-the-less.

If you had asked me to send to you a dozen eggs, I would not have send them out of an egg carton – just saying. If you had asked me to send you just a half a dozen eggs, they would still have come to you in a carton.

Little things do matter.

I’m not much of a drinker, meaning it will be many years between me drinking anything alcoholic, I usually opt for Rum with Cruzan Rum being my preferred Rum but it’s not available here so my husband bought this and I am not impressed at all.

It felt really weak compared to Cruzan and even Old Nick. Now it’s just sitting in our fridge with nobody touching it, I might have to try using it for a spiced cake or something. I doubt we’ll be buying this again.

I am surprised there are no reviews for this rum yet, it is currently my favorite white rum and stupidly cheap. This rum puts other white rums and even some gold rums in this category/price to shame, full of flavor to the point one could consider sipping or simply enjoying with lime and soda.

Best for daiquris, best for mojitos, delicious with ginger ale, not a big fan with coke but otherwise this is a go-to white rum!.

Many white / young rums are there to provide a booze boost the mixed drinks. This one does that and more. There are hints of vanilla in there that help give the drink something more. Plantation rums tend to be very smooth on the palate compared to other rums.

Depending on what you look for in your drinks this could be a great choice.

When it came to light rum, I wasn’t ever too impressed with the menagerie of subpar offerings peddled by major manufacturers such as Bacardi, Don Q, Captain Morgan, and Cruzan. Most light rums are severely deficient in character and flavor, which in turn makes them virtually indistinguishable from vodka.

Just when I was about to abandon all hope for a lively, complex white rum that can be sipped neat and make for some awesome cocktails, I stumbled upon Plantation 3 Stars Silver Rum. If you evaluate the “Bacardi Carta Blanca” in its purest taste and aroma, then in simple terms it is a distillate with sweet notes. The alcohol component is not as bright as that of vodka, but still.

A sip of pure rum burns instantly, there is no sweetness in taste (only in aroma). There is no unusual taste game either. In its purest form, I would not drink it without special need. Well, if only you did not find yourself on a frosty night in the middle of the forest and you need to warm yourself.

In combination with cherry juice, rum is good (we recommend the juice from the Ribbon, it turned out to be the most worthy in comparison with others). The cherry is given an additional sweet notes of Bacardi and you get the feeling that you are enjoying an expensive drink.

Even with juice, such a strong drink does its job, intoxication comes quickly, but gently. Caution to girls: a couple of such delicious glasses can be knocked down. But in the morning there are no unpleasant consequences in the form of a headache or a hangover syndrome.

Everything goes softly somehow. I can’t give the maximum mark to Bacardi Carta Blanca, because here we still pay for the brand, rather than for quality. Rum is like rum, without wow and other delights.

Less publicized rum brands (and at a lower price) turned out to be an order of magnitude higher in quality than Bacardi.

I certainly say Bacardi White tastes like vodka but it is a light bodied rum and one of the lightest in the market but beyond that it’s not a bad spirit. It makes a great rumcoke at the bar or club though and that’s why people like it.

If you just want a cheap mixer that is always available readily then this is it. It is also an honest product with no added sugars. You could also sip this in a bind, its really not that bad. BACARDI MOJITO recipe: 50 ml Bacardi Superior 4 lime wedges 12 fresh mint leaves 2 tsp extra fine sugar 25 ml soda water/ club soda spring of fresh mint • Take the lime wedges and squeeze them in the glass.

Gently press together the limes sugar. • Bruise the mint leaves by clapping them between your palms, rub them on the rim of the glass and drop them in. • Next, half fill the glass with crushed ice, add the BACARDÍ rum stir.

• Top with crushed ice, a sprig of mint and club soda.

Bought a 50ml taster first and was totally impressed: very flavorful, great aroma, and smooth enough to drink neat – comparable with rums twice its price! Then bought a 750ml bottle – same great flavor and aroma! Then bought two more 750ml bottles – and what a disappointment! The latter taste just like vodka – no sugar cane, no molasses – totally tasteless.

The price recently went down from 7. 99 to 6. 49, so perhaps, the bottler found a cheaper source for this rum. But unfortunately, the new rum is so much worse that I won’t be buying it again. You may still get lucky and get the old batch with great flavor, but don’t count on it.

Unfortunately, the batch number on the label is totally fake: same number 34604 for the old bottles, the new bottles and for the pictures on this website, so it’s impossible to rely on it.

After decades of traveling the globe and drinking spirits from the seas, I came upon this rum. I have enjoyed most of Richard Seale rums and this blew me away for a white rum. The most important rule to remember is that Barbados has a law to not add sugar.

So, what you taste is the authentic distilled spirit without additional sugar. Point being, this is delicious without added sugar. Well done.

I tried a couple different cocktails (daiquiri, pina colada, rum old fashioned, and mojito). and , and when the drink is ice cold, the rum brings some very interestingly floral and fruity notes. But as it warms up, the phenolic rubber notes are just too strong and take over, making it unpalatable.

It’s too bad, because there are some very interesting notes, but I can’t go back to it, since once I detect that rubber note, I can’t get anything else.

This is supposed to be a stellar mixing rum, but is pretty good for sipping. Very creamy feeling and you can taste some funkiness. Nose: ripe banana. Taste: Ripe tropical fruits, very creamy, and sweet in a good way.

After taste is even better, the fruit flavor dominates your palate for long time. On cocktails is amazing but I already love it like that.

This is one of my favorite rums. It has a coconut flavor and can be used in tons of drinks. I also like to just drink it from the bottle. It is smooth and not heavy.

SOOOO smooth! I drink straight on the rocks. The others taste like, ya know (Malibu, etc) no comparison. It’s a bit more expensive, so hardly ever see at bars. But worth every penny. Had a bartender try it once and she understood immediately.

I recently had El Dorado recommended to me, and I can’t believe how much better it is than other affordable white rums I’ve tried. My previous go to was Cruzan – which I found to be more falvorful and less harsh than Don Q – but El Dorado is on a whole other level.

El Dorado is much smoother and smells and tastes of sugar, vanilla, and hints of fruit, while Cruzan mostly smells and tastes of rubbing alchohol. I would happily sip El Dorado, while I would never drink Cruzan straight.

It’s more expensive than Cruzan, certainly, but if you can swing the extra $4. 50 you’ll end up with a much, much better rum.

Been drinking SelvaRey for a while, was looking for an upgraded white rum to drink neat, proper equator style, and found this brand. The Ronero is the same Ronero who ran Havana Club for 25 years and HC 3 is my favorite.

Also Tanduay white—and this is like a smoother cross of the two. I mix it in simple cocktails, it’s so smooth I don’t have to cover it with anything. I like it with a big rock.

I tried this a few months ago, but now writing a review. I wanted so bad to like this, simply because I like Bruno so much lol. But this rum was undrinkable. I tried again, along with my daughter. I ended up pouring it out.

The Captain Morgan logo is perhaps one of the most recognizable logos in the entire world. It is hard to argue with the success of the image and the brand identity that the logo on the bottle has generated.

The standard 750 ml bottle is easy to grip, pour and store on any shelf. Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum looks amber in the glass, yet flashes yellow under the light. The aroma is very pleasant smell of rum and vanilla with light accents of cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg.

It is ideal for a rum, in my opinion. When I sipped the Captain Morgan Original Spiced, I noticed the light astringency within the rum. There is also a firm vanilla presence that I love. My feeling is that the flavour profile makes it decent for sipping on alone, but is exceptionally wonderful in a mixed drink.

A major food magazine put this rum at the top of their list of silver rums. I’m assembling a rum collection for a hot summer – so I had to try Flor de Cana. Silver rums are usually mixed, but I tasted it straight from a rocks glass in order to actually assess it.

There’s a harsh note up front on the nose, and that’s about it. Maybe some honey or honeysuckle? Hard to say. This isn’t totally bad or a negative, really. On the palette, the harsh note is there as well, but it’s brief.

Sometimes the harsh notes lesson on the second or third sip, and it does in this case – but it remains noticeable if you look for it. There’s a ever-so-slight touch of sugarcane. There’s a bit more mouthfeel at room temperature then you might expect, just short of syrupy.

If it isn’t clear by now, there’s not a lot to this rum. For giggles I threw some ice on top of it and as it chilled down the harshness goes away and more of the sweetness comes through. My most prominent thought the entire experience was “this is ALMOST indistinguishable from a mid-tier vodka.

“. And that makes perfect sense if you want to add alcohol and some minor elements of sweetness to a rum sour or a cuba libre and nothing else. I can’t in good faith give this rum anything higher then a three stars, but with the caveat that what’s in this bottle is most likely exactly what the makers intended and fills a distinct and necessary role at the bar.

If there’s a deal on it, I recommend buying it.

This rum has a strong, but not overwhelming, herbal taste. It complements mint and lime very well and makes a very good mojito. The mojito this one makes is similar to Bacardi, but in my opinion, Flor de Cana has a cleaner and, therefore, better taste.

I tried it in a pina colada and, honestly, this is bad in a pina colada. The strong herbal taste doesn’t play well with sweet falvors. The Don Q cristal which has a very clean taste is better for pina coladas.

Even better are spiced rums as they complement sweet flavors very well. Overall, great quality for the price esp for mojitor. As a sipper, it’s doable but not the smoothest.

It’s ok to mix into drinks that have a heavy flavor to cover this up, but to me, it tasted like straight rubbing alcohol. Hard burn.

Perfect sipper for a newby to rum. I get butterscotc with a little spice at the end, very short. Smells like nice burnt sugar. My 3rd try at rum and so far the best. For me it was too soft, maybe at 100 proof it would be a flavor bomb.

As a bourbon guy I would say this is a super smooth watered down bottle of E. H. Taylor Small Batch. Recommended at price point but wanting more punch. Would drink neat only.

If you’re looking for an amazing rum that doesn’t completely destroy the bank, this is it. It’s also convenient as it can be found at most major chain liquor stores. I prefer this as a sipper, but it is also great in a daiquiri! The high proof allows not only for it to last, but age beautifully over time.

Good flavor but McCoy has no sugar added which to me makes the heat more noticeable. Taste like rum, feels like whiskey. When mixed with coke, it disappears which can be good or bad depending on your preference.

Flavor is good, but not what I expected.

Bought something fancy-looking for guests since I much prefer aged rums, but my very first cocktail with George Ocean was surprisingly good, and I’ve made a few more since. The sugar flavors actually come through and I’m not bombarded with an ethanol taste or smell.

This bottle has convinced me to actually keep a bottle of white rum around for myself! Mojitos and Martin Cate’s Top Notch Volcano have become regulars around the house.

George Ocean White Rum tastes like vodka with a hint of rum. It makes a good piña collada, if you don’t want to see or taste the alcohol, but I definitely wouldn’t drink this on its own. The bottle claims to contain “a smooth white rum.

” That’s technically correct, but I can’t emphasize enough how little this tastes like rum. There’s just a hint of molasses, no interesting rum funk, or anything to give it much character. It’s truly “smooth,” I could down a bottle of this in a week.

But it’s so boring, I wouldn’t want to. This is one of Total Wine’s house brands, so it will always be affordable, but this should only be on your list if you’ve got a lot of rum cocktails to make. Meh.

This rum is an acquired taste. We purchased it to use when making mojito’s, however the rum has such a distinctive taste it mixed very poorly with the mint, mojito mix and soda. It has none of the notes of it’s more famous counterpart Barcardi white rum.

Geschmacklich erhält gleich zu beginn etwas Funk gefolgt von würze sehr trocken und holt. Den Alkoholgehalt nimmt man definitiv war und er trocknet auch den Mundraum durchaus etwas aus jedoch absolut im Rahmen.

Den Abgang würde ich als mittellang und kräftig beschreiben welcher eine kräftige Würze zurücklässt. Absolut kein Mainstream Rum und auch nicht für jeden Tag, doch er ist ein interessanter Rum welchen man bei Gelegenheit mal probieren sollte.

this is a serious rum. Even in a mixed drink such as a Pina Colada the potency comes though in spades. Every time I exhaled I could feel the heat from the overproof. Mr Wray and Nephew are old school gentlemen need to be treated with respect and a certain amount of admiration.

The flavor? A hint a Jamaican funk with under tones of sugarcane but a very spicy finish that warms the throat and gives a tingling mouth feel. This drink is a national treasure that needs to explored and discussed as its fairly unknown to people outside the island.

The most in demand rum in the Caribbean. Lots of flavor; perhaps the best rum for mixed drinks and blended drink. Perhaps the most flavor for an overproof rum at a cost with no equal. No bar or party should be without it.

This rum has a mega funky smell. Even a tiny amount will dominate the smell of any cocktail. Rotten banana/ tire fire. I can’t do it. And I love smith and cross. I mix this with banana liquor to hide it.

Geschmacklich dominiert für mich hier die überreife Papaya, welches im Mixgetränk ein sehr tolles, eigenständiges Aroma macht.

It was nothing like a real mojito. Tasted like chemicals and toothpaste. Left a weird sensation in the throat I’ve never had from any other alcohol. Nobody I gave a sip to liked it either, I literally couldn’t even give the 5th away! Truly a terrible drink, and I usually love Bacardi.

I did not know that this rum uses a plastic bottle. The rum itself tasted fine as the beginning, but after about 3 months, I could taste plastic easily. There is a chance that my mind played with me, but honestly, I did taste plastic, after several trials.

If you are a fast drinker, this may not be a problem for you, but I would worry about your liver in that case.

Had been focusing on the Doorly’s Amber 5 year old and XO lately – but decided to buy a bottle of white the other day. Really enjoying it in cocktails – had forgotten how nice a good white rum can be.
