20 Best White Rice For Dogs (2023 Updated)

This was our first time trying Just food for dogs as a free sample program. We received a variety package of several of their flavors to try. It came nicely packed. Dry ice was all melted by the time i opened it but the food was still mostly frozen.

I’d recommend ordering when you know you’ll be home in the summer. I liked that their was a variety of flavors to choose from, we haven’t gone through all of them yet but my almost 4 female cattle dog seems to like it.

She’s a tad picky and likes to have different food now and then. She loves wet and fresh food. The lamb and rice she loved the most, we tried the chicken and rice which was good too, as well as the cod/veggie which didn’t have a huge fish smell which was nice.

All of them i cut open after thawing and move to a sealable container. Easier to dole out. I used this as a supplement to her dry kibble. I really couldn’t see this as a main diet for dogs, but i would recommend it as a topper or intermittent feeding for when a dog feels sick or stops eating.

I really like to support small businesses so the fact that it’s only exclusive to a big box store and now online is an automatic pass for me. The convenience alone doesn’t appeal to me. Also compared to other brands in the gently cooked food race their isn’t a lot of transparency of this brand such as traceability on where the ingredients come from, testing standards, etc.

So if i’m going to pay top notch prices it better be the best dang food out there and have the facts to prove it and not just a few “studies” on their site. But overall i’m thinking about me and all the other people making minimum wage, this is way to expensive to give to your dog as a complete everyday meal especially when most of it is just rice.

I received this product as part of a free sample program and likely won’t be going back. I don’t think our dog will let us! He was on a premium dry kibble diet but the use of fresh, unprocessed ingredients can’t be beat.

I appreciate the nutrient dense, real ingredients used and that they are science backed and highly recommended by Vets. The multiple options available aren’t just flavor choices, they are formulated with specific health concerns/types of dogs in mind.

Our dog’s weight was brought up last Vet Visit for I dig they have the Fish & Sweet Potato that’s a low calorie/high protein made for healthy weight management. Since this was our first time feeding a fresh frozen diet it did take a quick Trial & Errot to figure out the right amount to that and get on the right freezer-fridge-feed cycle.

Our guy is smediumish and we weren’t able to finish our first pack doing the transitioning guide before having to throw some out. Happy to see directly this really isn’t full of preservatives and junk that makes it edible for days on end.

I’d recommend this to any pet owner wanting to improve their pet’s health through a fresh, whole food diet. This would be a great option for dogs with allergies and sensitivities and picky eaters. Senior dogs and dogs with periodontal issues would also benefit – much easier to eat than kibble and much healthier than other wet food options.

Tesla is always stoked for food, but his mealtime excitement went up a notch since making the switch. he tries to do all this numerous tricks at once to get his bowl!.

This is my first time trying out frozen/refrigerated meals for my dog; I always thought the meal programs were too pricey when I researched them before. My dog is on kibble mixed with oatmeal which balances his meal and is less pricey for me.

I was offered the 7 meal pack as part of a free review, so I figured I’d give it a shot. I like that it’s not outrageously expensive as I’ve seen in the past, and that Chewy carries it – so you don’t have to worry about shipping costs.

The package arrives in a well-insulated cooler with dry ice, so it is still cool when it arrives. Meals do not need to be heated up when you use them. You work up to the full amount of the package, starting with 25-50% of the meal replacement, so at first one package goes a long way.

I will say that the packages aren’t the easiest to work with. They don’t re-seal, so you’ll need to store the other half that you don’t use. Also working the food out of the pouch can be a pain as some of it likes to stick to the walls.

I like that the ingredients are all whole foods and right on the packaging, also that you can physically see (and not smell) the food in it, so I feel better about giving this to my dog rather than kibble.

I have an itchy dog during certain seasons, so I also like that I can tailor his diet to his needs at the time. He did enjoy it – gobbled it right up and was looking for more later. I wouldn’t say that I noticed a change in his itchiness, since it is that time of the year.

He’s gassier lately, but that could be from other factors. It does take up quite a bit of real estate in the fridge/freezer and a couple times we forgot to thaw it out in enough time to feed it to him.

I would recommend trying this out for others, however I didn’t see any real difference in my dog. Too pricey and inconvenient to keep buying for me.

My little Zoe was a picky eater. She’d even lick the topper off the kibble and spit out any kibble in front of her bowl. Could have used the topper as her food (she loved it) but it was very expensive.

This is an great solution! The recipe is very easy to follow and I put portions into vacuumed food saver pouches and freeze. She gets fed 2x per day and runs up to me licking her lips in anticipation of her meal.

She inhales her meals!!! And she goes back to her bowl to lick it out again, even though it’s already been licked clean. Give it a try. It is work to cook the food but using a meat grinder attachment to the standing mixer makes a fast job of grinding the chicken.

But the main benefits are the lower costs and I find I’m getting a whole lot more love from her since we switched to this food!!!.

Our dog is on a half fresh, half kibble diet. We had bought the fresh frozen packs for many months before deciding to cut costs and make it ourselves. I love that JFFD makes this an option. It’s so convenient and easy! The hardest part for us was finding turkey liver.

NO grocery stores around us had it so we ended up having to order from a raw pet food supplier, but the two pounds we purchased will last us a long time since the half recipe only needs 1. 5 ounces at a time.

My dog does great on this food and I couldn’t recommend it more.

The instructions are super easy. I have been able to have all of the ingredients delivered to me with my usual grocery order. I make a full batch and freeze the leftovers. When I finish the 4 days worth of food, I’ll place the next 4 meals in the fridge to defrost overnight.

I have an extremely picky Klee Kai and he loves his food now. I top it off with organic pumpkin and some brutus bone broth for some added nutrients.

PantryFresh Balanced Remedy Recipe Fresh Dog Food got my dogs excited for breakfast again. Both of my dogs were very excited every morning when I would open up their new boxes of food. My husky generally does not like to eat first thing in the morning and will wait a couple hours to eat.

However, when we started with this fresh food instead of his kibble, he changed his mind and gobbled his breakfast down in minutes. My Labrador, who usually eats breakfast, also gobbled down her food and was more excited for meal times than previously.

Even after several days of receiving the food they did not lose their excitement for the new food. The packages are easy to serve. Just cut it open, scoop out and mix it up. It is convenient that I do not have to refrigerate or freeze it, and it can just be stored in the pantry.

There is not a strong smell or congealed like canned foods can be. The ingredients seem to be high-quality and my dogs find it tasty. I would definitely recommend and will continue to buy this product.

I’m not sure who was more excited, me giving this to my dog when we received this product as part of a free sample program. I usually feed my 70 lb. shepsky high quality dry food dog food but am always looking for a different healthy option for her.

Given her weight I would have to feed her 2 cartons per meal but I decided to add this an almost treat in addition to her regular food. I would instead feed her 1 carton a day often during dinner time.

She would get noticeably when I was preparing this meal for her and would quickly clean her bowl, unlike other feedings. I loved that she enjoyed it so much and that it is human-grade food. My biggest complaint is that the smell of the food upon opening the carton leaves a lot to be desired but I can manage through for the happiness of my dog.

I would definitely consider getting this again for my dog as she really seemed to enjoy it and made me feel good feeding it to her.

The product is more expensive compared to other products I’ve tried. However, the high quality is obvious to me. I had both my dog and my mom’s dog try it. Both enjoyed it so much they licked the bowl clean, which rarely happens.

The ingredients in this product are super simplistic, which is something all dog owners look for in a product. Less processed, more natural. I would recommend this product to family and friends, especially if they are having trouble getting their pup to eat.

I have changed to the Senior formula because my Mastiff moves a lot less these days – but needed the proper nutrition level for her breed and size. She is much more active now and moves like she is a puppy again ! She absolutely loves the taste and her “business” is very easy to pick up ! I have tried NUMEROUS dry dog foods for my senior Sheltie after Precise went out of business for months!! My prior Sheltie live to 16. 5 years on Precise and he had minimal health issues. Nutrisource Senior is the BEST replacement I found.

Other foods caused too many digestive orders or he just didn’t like them. Dusty’s digestive track has returned to normal on this food and he gobbles it down everyday. He really likes this food and am glad my search is over!.

I have had really positive experience with this food for my Bichon Frisé, who often has upset Gastrointestinal issues. He’s quite picky as well, but he loves quite a lot of the Pro Plan foods and products and his belly agrees with it very well too.

He gobbles this down every time he gets it, as well as their EN treats and Dry Kibble too! It’s good for occasional belly upsets or long term, it’s nice to find a healthy, yummy food that he enjoys.

One of my dogs got pancreatitis and we had to start feeding this food. It was easier just to feed both my dogs this one thing. They love this food so much! They are always so excited to get their bowls.

I have smaller dogs so they can share a can. I definitely recommend this diet especially if your dog has a sensitive stomach!.

Had to use this when our German Shepherd puppy was young and had digestion issues. He’s healthy now! The wet formula worked well as it was easy on his stomach. Can’t do a proper comparison because this was the only wet food he ate.

It was extremely expensive and at times hard to get in advance due to the 2020/2021 sourcing issues.

My dogs did love this food and I felt good about giving it to them because all of the research I did showed it to be better than just plain kibble. My older dog seemed to have more energy after eating it for a couple of weeks and that was so important to me.

However, the last two shipments I received were visibly “different” looking and my dogs aren’t as enthusiastic about it as they once were. My food motivated dog walked away from it yesterday! I have been through having my order canceled a couple of times during the height of the pandemic due to no supply available and one batch I could see the powder that’s added to the food…like it wasn’t mixed properly.

I let it go because I know the pandemic has been hard on all businesses, but I feel like we should be past all of that. The price has gone up almost $3, too. Overall, I am not nearly as happy with this product as I was a year ago.

This food saved my dogs life. I’m not even exaggerating. About a year ago, he was 16 and suffering from acute liver failure. We found that he had an inflamed gall bladder that had contributed to a liver infection.

He was on antibiotics and not eating. We were cooking him fresh meat every day, and feeding him by hand, but still he was not getting enough to eat. The vet recommended we try JustFoodForDogs, so we did.

He ate an entire bowl of food for the first time in weeks. We have continued to feed him this food mixed with dry food. He used to eat once a day or maybe even skip a meal for a whole day, even before he got sick, and now he eats his whole bowl of food twice a day.

This food allowed us to keep him nourished enough for long enough for his meds to work, and now he is totally healthy again at 17!!! The food is expensive, but so very worth it.

This product comes in both frozen and shelf stable cartons. I have tried both with my 2 year old boston terrier. She DEFINATELY prefers the frozen one. Has healthy ingredients and is nutritionally balanced.

I get about 4 meals from each 18 oz package for my 16 lb dog. I have tried the venison, the beef, the turkey and the pork and she loves them all. In the boxed version, she’ll eat it with some enticing.

I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review: The food was a hit with my dog Trigger! This has been one of the easiest foods to introduce and transition to my dogs diet. Trigger hasn’t had any adverse effects, and his coat seems to have a bit of extra shine to it.

I appreciate the fact that all ingredients are 100% human grade. When opening the product, you are not hit with a typical canned wet dog food smell, it has a slight scent milder than a can of tuna (so it won’t stink up your house).

The box is easy to open, and convenient packaging makes recycle afterwards a breeze. No need to store it in the fridge until it’s opened. Downside: is- 1 box of food per 25lbs, so my dog at 75lbs would need 3 boxes which can be costly.

But, the health and wellness of my dog is utmost important and I’m willing to invest for his continued health. Overall I think this product is a wonderful addition to my dogs diet, and I will continue to use it.

Let me preface by saying that I have been feeding my dog FreshPet Chicken with Veggies for quite a while now and would have sworn by it for my dog’s GI problems. However, the last year or so I have had trouble finding it due to supply issues and in addition, I have thrown out many partial bags due to the smell of the food (tends to break down after a couple of days after opening), and my dog will not eat it.

It is supposed to last 7 days and does not. So, I looked for another dog food and saw the reviews for this one. One of the reviews raved about it for GI problems. Let me say that I just started using it and so far so good GI wise, but what is even better is she loves it! I mean she loves it!!!! I only have to keep it in the frig after opening (so it is much easier storage of the food than Freshpet that has to be continually refrigerated), but I doubt that I will be keeping it for long as she ate almost a whole box of it today (she is a 30 pound dog).

It is more money to order on Chewy than Freshpet, but I get 12 boxes of the dog food (vs. 4 bags of Freshpet) and I know I will not be throwing this food out. I am happy with it so far. And there does not seem to be any difficulty switching her over.

I have given her some Freshpet along with this to get her switched over, but stools are fine and she is a happy dog eating it.

Our dog has only eaten NutriSource dog food. He started with the puppy food and has progressed to the adult food. What we, as fur parents love, is that it absorbs water pretty well. Our high maintenance doggo has decided that he likes his kibbles of the softer texture.

Once we dump a scoop into his bowl, we add about half a cup of water to soften it up. It’ll take about 20 minutes to absorb, but once it does, we stir it and our K9 munches away. The stirring spoon can get a bit funky with the dog food, but it rinses off really well under hot water.

I only wish more stores sold this food, we only have one gardening store in our area that sells it.

I feed this to my border collie, and she just loves it. She has always had a problem with foods that are too rich for her, but this seems to fit the bill just nicely. I bought this as I couldn’t afford to keep feeding her Petcurean GO! Solutions chicken.

I’ll continue to buy her this food and most likely rotate between the Nutrisource Adult proteins!.

Absolutely worthless!! I ordered this for my 1 year old Cane Corso and with minutes…that’s right minutes it had a hole in it. It was billed as a toy for aggressive chewers. That was a joke. I am so disappointed I’m at a loss for words.

I literally received it in the mail 4. 30. 2022 and when you look at the pictures that’s what the toy looks like within an hour of giving to my puppy. I don’t know how it was rated so high!! DO NOT PURCHASE!!! It IS NOT worth the money.

Clearly, some people obsess even more about dog food than I do. In the end, all I want is a high quality food for a fair price that meets certain criteria: 1. ) My dog must like the food. 2. ) My dog must respond positively to the food.

3. ) The food does not stink up the house. 4. ) The food does not produce stinky breath or body odor. In my quest for the perfect food, I have tried just about every single quality food available at the large retail stores.

To guide me, I have relied on a certain dog food review and rating site – even though I have no way to verify that their ratings are unbiased. Thus, I have been through anything from Canidae to Blue Buffalo.

In fact, Blue Buffalo actually led me to the expansion of my quest because it emitted a very potent odor that permeated my house while also making my dog’s breath smell strong enough to cause blisters on people’s skin! Having exhausted the regularly available brands, I felt I had no choice but to try a few rather obscure ones.

Again, I relied on the rating site to find high quality foods. Chewy had some of them available and thus, I looked at each one, picked the price for the largest bag available, divided the price of that bag by the quantify contained within, and arrived at a price per pound for each food.

The three most reasonably priced foods were: 1. ) Blackwood 1000 2. ) Hi-Tek Naturals Grain-Free Lamb 3. ) Dr. Tim’s Kinesis All Life Stages I ordered all three. Once they arrived, I made them available to my dog in equal portions on identical plates, while also providing some of the other dog food I still had available in the same way.

I arranged them in a row and released the hound! He, then, sniffed at every plate and went to Hi-Tek without hesitation. When he got close to finishing the Hi-Tek plate, he switched over to Blackwood, which he finished completely.

He, then, went back to Hi-Tek and finished it as well. He did not touch Dr. Tim’s or any of the other foods I provided. I repeated the experiment the next day: He immediately went to the Hi-Tek, followed by Blackwood.

Third day: Hi-Tek, followed by Blackwood. In other words, his preference seems clear. I have been feeding Hi-Tek since then and my dog is happy. While Hi-Tek does emit the odor typical for dog food, I don’t find it strong enough to make my house smell like a pet store.

My dog digests it well, his coat is shiny, and his breath can no longer be used by the military to invade foreign nations. In other words, I am happy as well! Now, Blackwood is the clear runner-up and I would not hesitate to purchase it, either.

Obviously, I do not have prolonged experience with it, but I didn’t think that it smelled bad, either. In the absence of Hi-Tek, Blackwood would be my next choice. Dr. Tim’s was simply rejected by my dog and I have given the remainder of the food to a friend whose dog seems to like it.

Obviously, dog’s vary not only in their preferences but also in their response to the foods we provide. I cannot tell you which one would work best for you and your companion, but perhaps my experiences can help guide you toward a perfect match.

Too many people simply accept that a dog’s breath stinks, that their stool is loose, that their fur is dull, or that the dog simply smells like dog. I have owned dogs for many decades and know that all of these issues can, potentially, be addressed by switching to a different food.

In the past, I have had very positive experiences with Nature’s Recipe (this is long ago when Nature’s Recipe was considered one of the best foods available) but it simply did not work for my current dog.

So, go ahead and experiment a bit. Sure, your dog might initially have some digestive issues from the many switches (alas, some dogs seem to have absolutely no problem with switching foods), but finding the right food seems like a worthwhile endeavor with long-term benefits.

Dogs really liked it. I’ve been using Blackwood for awhile now and am pleased with the results. The prices are ridiculous but the food is good. My dogs prefer it over Victor and Purina Pro Plan. The 2000 series is great for puppies.

So my Cane Corso Diesel Tank was excited to participate in this VoxBox! My pup is 4. 5 months old and 60+ pounds. He has always had Diamond Naturals Large Breed Puppy food. I first put a dish of each down in front of him and he immediately chose the Nature’s Recipe.

The pieces looked similar but Nature’s recipe was just a tiny bit smaller. The ingredients are similar and comparison was pretty equal, nothing to really sway one way or another as far as nutrients. Within a few days his coat was noticeable shinier! He definitely preferred the Nature’s Recipe and had no gastrointestinal effects from the switch.

I had no intentions of switching his food but his coat truly looked better and he loved it so I looked up the price out of curiousity and was surprised to find that it’s even MORE expensive than Diamond Naturals with a price comparison of 1.

63 per pound to 1. 90 per pound. So I feel like telling him no would be like telling a child they can’t have a second helping of broccoli but. yikes. I will check the price at our local Tractor Supply (if they carry it) when we shop for his food next time and consider switching, but honestly that’s the only thing making me hesitate.

A mastiff goes through a LOT of food, and we are already paying 50$ per bag, for a few weeks worth of food.

My dogs LOVE Nature’s Recipe Lamb and Rice Dry Dog Food! Thanks to Influenster, I was gifted this dog food in exchange for my honest review. I’ve been feeding my dogs Nature’s Recipe for a few years now, but just the wet food.

This was my very first experience with their dry food, simply because I cannot locate it in store anywhere even remotely close to me. I wish had been able to try it years ago, because my 2 small dogs can’t get enough.

I’m glad they are finally hooked on something as nutritious and healthy as Nature’s Recipe Lamb and Rice. I typically serve them just the dry kernels throughout the day, at their disposal, and then for dinner I mix any remaining kernels plus a few extra, with some plain shredded boiled chicken, steamed rice, and different bone broths depending on the day, to give it some extra flavor.

Just the kernels provide a healthy, balanced diet alone! Nature’s Recipe is trusted, affordable brand, that my dogs love, and probably most underappreciated is that it leaves no lingering stinky weird aromas like I’ve noticed with some dry dog food kernels I’ve tried lately.

When I tell you I have been on the hunt for an affordable yet nutritious kibbles for my picky Pomeranian, it’s crazy how many articles I read researching. He started off as a puppy eating “Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula Puppy Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Dry Dog Food.

” However up until 7 months, he would refused to eat it. A big 30lb bag wasted. I didn’t want to start him on wet food, I did try toppers and it worked but he grew tired of it in a few days. I narrowed down on a few and decided to try Nature’s Recipe when he was about 11 months, was slowly transitioning him into adult food.

In comparison to the Blue Buffalo, these bites were a tad bit smaller and even feels lighter and I appreciate that because it was easy for him to bite and finish eating. There are days when my Pom will finish his food but there are days when he’ll leave about 10-20 kibbles and come back to finish it.

All in all, I recommend trying this for your picky eater if you’re looking for an affordable and nutritious food. I’ve also tried Nature’s Recipe wet dog food as a topper and my Pom licked his bowl clean.

This is 1 of 3 Nutri Source ‘flavors’ that our Golden likes. After reading the FDA alert about reports of canine dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) in dogs eating certain pet foods containing peas, lentils, other legume seeds, or potatoes as main ingredients.

DCM is a disease of the heart muscle that leads to reduced heart pumping function and increased heart size. This diagnosis of DCM was coupled with another finding that many of the dogs were eating the same grain-free diet and had blood tests confirming low taurine levels.

Taurine is an amino acid that dogs get naturally in their diets and manufacture from other building blocks contained in the food. Although dogs have the ability to manufacture taurine, it has been known for some time that low levels of taurine are associated with a potentially reversible form of DCM.

Nutrisource was recommended to feed to my puppy by the breeder. I really like the results I’m Seeing in my dogs health and appearance. The only problem is I’m having a hard time finding Nutrisource in stock ? I do not know why.

This product is helpful in managing my pets gut issues and allergy woes. His ears are better and his stomach issues have improved. Yes, I’m glad I was introduced to these products!

Using this food for 5 years since it was recommended by breeder. My dog maintenance weight well and no had no health issues, considering she has sensitive stomach. We also used wet food and same brand treats, all are great for her to tolerate.

My first time ordering from petflow went great fast service and delivery! I’ve fed this food for many years to dogs and many people I know, trainers/kennels feed their dogs Nutrisource. Great food!

This is such a nutritionally dense food. My dogs eat 2 cups each, per day, split into two meals, based on the feeding chart. This is down from 3 3/4 and 3 1/2 cups per day on the last food!!!! Their coats are glossier, their minds more focused, and their tails waggier.

Let me start this off by saying I worked in the grain business for years, same as my family. So I know grain gets bugs. However, the bag I received had bugs when I opened it along with larve. The grain it’s self had quite a few black grains (which I would call mold) along with lots of morning glory seeds and grain hulls.

If I received this grain at a grainery I would have gave it a 3 at best. 1 being great, 2 being good (which is what most people eat. ) 3 being poor, and 4 being trash. This bag is somewhere between a 3 and a 4.

It’s just awful. I seriously just sifted through a 25 pounds of rice and got maybe 10 pounds. I threw the other 15 pounds away because there were just too many bugs to pick out. Our nearest Sam’s club is an hour away so I didn’t even bother taking it back.

I won’t make this mistake again for sure. It’s not the first time I’ve bought this rice either. All the other bags have been excellent quality, but somewhere in the past two years something went down hill.

This rice is way too starchy! Don’t believe me? Rinse it and the water will turn milky white! Don’t get me wrong, the rice is not bad, but the amount of rinsing you need to do to get the water to clear up is insane (and waste of water).

If you don’t mind your rice grains sticking together, then you can simply skip the rinsing part. If you cook it with lower than the recommended amount of water, the rice will turn out grainy and the grains will separate like gravel.

If you have a choice, get the pricier 25 lb. bag of Calrose Rice instead.

We bought three bags and all three were of good quality with no bugs or unhulled grains. We bought this rice to package for long-term storage in mylar bags given the problems going on with the threats Russia is making.

Be realistic about your expectations; at this price point and given the nature of the product, infestations are bound to happen sooner or later. If that is unacceptable you can always pay a significant premium for the fancy rice in clear plastic 1 lb.

I needed a food with High calorie content, for a good price, and most importantly, a nice ingredient list. Diamond Naturals Extreme Athlete tics all of those boxes. I have two dogs; 1 mixed breed & 1 GSP.

I used to feed my 58# mixed breed (1 3/4 cups daily) a very pricey brand – about $70 a bag, that would last her ~2months, but when I adopted my 66# GSP (3cups daily) last year we started going through food fast.

My German Short Haired Pointer needs a lot of calories due to his activity level. He was eating through $140 a month on our previous brand of dog food – and frankly, through my pockets. I needed a food that wasn’t going to break the bank and I prefer an ingredient list you can pronounce – price vs.

quality vs. quantity – this food has it all. 2 1/2 40# bags lasts us about three months. *Disclaimer: neither of my two dogs are picky eaters & eat raw/dehydrated for breakfast, kibble is fed only during PM mealtime.

Cons: I wish this food came in other proteins/flavors because my gsp has softer bowel movements with Chicken and firmer stools with lamb. My mixed breed has always done well with chicken so she doesn’t experience soft stools with this product.

I bought this food based on the great reviews and similar ingredients to our usual dog food but it didn’t work out for our sensitive pit mix. It just didn’t agree with her even though I did an extremely gradual switch from her other salmon dog food.

The first day, she had bad diarrhea all evening. She uncharacteristically wanted to stay outside and went to hide behind bushes in the yard. When I got her to come inside, she hid in dark rooms she never goes in.

She also had an accident in the house. (She’s never hid before or had accidents as an adult. ) I had started with 1-2 tbsp (very small percentage of her total meal) 2x/day. When I saw her upset her stomach was not resolving, I held off a day or 2 then resumed at 12-14 pieces of kibble per meal but could never go higher than 25 morsels because she felt so bad.

One night she was breathing extremely fast which the vet said is what they do when feeling bad or distressed. As soon as I stopped this food, the diarrhea stopped. I guess her stomach is just really sensitive.

She’s back on the other brand made for sensitive systems. If you have a sensitive dog, I recommend trying a small bag first. I gave 1 star for taste, as the dog didn’t mind the flavor.

When one favorite flavor of Addy (the picky German Longhaired Shepherd) was not available, I looked for something hopefully she would eat in its place. After “researching” decided to try Dave’s. When I opened the first can, I noticed how I could actually see some of the ingredients–like carrots, peas.

Oh, oh I thought, but when I placed the plate down in front of Addy, she cleaned it in one fell swoop. She LOVES it. So now, I will keep it on her order. I also like the added vitamins and especially for her joints.

I have a senior beagle who, for whatever reason has become picky about her food. I started mixing it up a bit for her and came across this brand on Chewy. She loves it and she is getting joint support.

I feed her one half can in the morning and in the late afternoon, I mix it with a bit of dry. Another keeper for my girl, Honey Beagle!.

I just came back from Rio’s yearly. The vet agrees that dave’s is very good food. My boy is almost 8 years old already. I was feeding him a cheaper food for awhile, but noticed a difference in his energy.

Didn’t take long for me to switch back to dave’s. I won’t be changing again. Rio cleans his plate every time!.

I have 4 rescue wolf dogs and 2 rescue labs. Lots of appetites! I balance out their diet with this food, they eat quite a bit of raw meat, veggies and fruits- but still need the vitamins and minerals for a healthy diet.

To them this bag has treats inside. After picking out all the chicken chunks they think I specially gave with dry dog food, they eat the rest of the remaining kibble. I am cautious of treats for dogs because of where they are manufactured and ingredients, they get raw cow bones, deer bones , chicken feet and occasionally a treat bone maybe once every 6 Mos.

My pack is healthy , happy and full of energy along with beautiful double coats of fur that float by me. Ordering was easy, cheaper than @ a regular store. The only problem that happened was their 6 mo treat bones didn’t come with their order after I told them they got treats on the way.

I contacted Chewy and they were shipped out that day. I’m trying the regular once a month delivery and will see how much it stays within my budget, rescuing dogs, I never know when another forgotten soul will need a place to feel safe and join my pack until they find their forever home.

I have fed this exact dog food except for it was chicken and rice for the last 5 years or so my 6-year-old dog was having some gut issues and when I went to get her up today on her shots for boarding I brought up some of the issues and he said you need to put her on Purina One I told him she already is on Purina One chicken and rice.

He proceeded to tell me to switch her to the lamb and rice formula. So I did this is the third bag (not of this size) it took her quite a few weeks actually quite a few months to fully get back to eating normal in fact she’s not there yet at first she would just nibble and then she started eating a little more and then got to where she was eating about half of her normal feast.

I know this is a long review my point is I can tell that it’s treating her better by the look of her poop and she doesn’t seem to do her stretching issues when she’s eating. Her shedding has got better and I will continue to feed it to her and I hope I continue to see improvements.

Please keep this product in stock that is one of the hard issues with this product. It’s very hard to find! I would definitely recommend this product to my friends and family!.

We added a 5th member to our pack for a Christmas present 🙂 He’s a beautiful german shepherd boy. The breeder had him on a $95 a bag puppy food. Yeah, just no. We bought another brand of puppy food and the purina canned food, which he ate.

We noticed after we bought the 2nd bag that he seemed disinterested in the food. Our pet store let us exchange the unopened bag of the previous food for this. We bought the biggest bag they had, not knowing if he would even like it.

He loves it and is devouring every meal with a little canned as a topper. We also give this to our 2 year old Golden who seems to love it, which is a bonus because he has been a picky eater from the day we brought him home.

They both love it. With 5 dogs, feeding time can be hectic, but it’s a team effort and every one of them is eating a Purina brand of dog food!! These two boys on the Large Breed Puppy and my three small ones are on the Purina Beneful with the matching wet food as a topper.

Geez it’s nice not having 4 or 5 different foods. Wonderful food!.

My 2-year-old basenji is not food motivated and a picky eater. She seemed excited to eat this food though, enjoying the texture. The small ball-like pellets are a good size for her to chew without being too big, too.

I also really liked the zipper/Velcro type closure on the bag. It made it super easy to ensure it was closed for freshness. The only issue is that this seemed to upset my girl’s stomach (despite weaning her on to it slowly as suggested).

She is sensitive to certain foods (though the list is difficult to pin down), so I don’t think I can keep her on this, but I could use it as training treats here and there since she does like the taste! Its a pity because I do think it might have been improving her skin health otherwise.

I received this product for free from VetDiet in exchange for my honest review. I received a bag of the dental health version to test out for our Shih Tzu. We mixed it into his regular brand and he ended up just eating the VetDiet brand and didn’t finish his old stuff.

He seems to prefer the VetDiet over his regular brand. The size of the dental kibbles are bigger than his regular ones, and smell wise it less offensive too. He’s an older dog so his teeth are starting to become an issue, so this was actually a win win product for us.

I’ve been using this food for my dogs for a few years now, and it is the only dog food I will buy for them going forward. Both my dogs are said to be “some of the healthiest looking dogs” my vet has seen.

Their coats are soft and thick, their weight and muscle mass are in the perfect range, and their poops are perfect! When I originally put them on this food I didn’t have any of their old food left for the transition and was anticipating the usual GI issues dogs get from food changes… they had zero issues! In fact when I watch my friend’s dogs, if they run out of food unexpectedly, I can also give them a serving of this food without any GI issues.

I absolutely recommend this dog food to anyone and everyone!.

I have a dog who suffers from severe GI issues on a regular basis, and food has always been a touchy subject. He was prescribed Purina Pro Plan HA, which has a hydrolyzed protein which was supposed to help alleviate his stomach issues, and it didn’t.

That product also contains unwanted things like corn starch (number 1 ingredient), pea protein (which is proving to cause heart conditions in certain dogs), carrageenan (which causes bloating, IBS, and inflammation.

why is this in a food for sensitive dogs?) and cellulose (filler), which surprised me, as they are def not on my list of healthy foods. I even asked my vet about the crummy stuff in that expensive prescription food, but they assured me it was the best thing for my dog.

It wasn’t, and his symptoms didn’t improve. This Purina product, however, has none of those nasty ingredients, and my dog is doing well on it. much better than the prescription food. I’m glad that Purina offers so many choices, so I can better choose for my dog’s specific situation.

I had such high hopes for this food, but unfortunately my picky eater wouldn’t go near this food even with wet food and cheese added on top. My vet recommended this food since I couldn’t find anything my golden was willing to eat.

I was really excited to have my dog try it because I was so happy with the ingredients (no potatoes, peas, or legumes) but unfortunately my dog wouldn’t even entertain tasting it. The search continues.

We have been using Freshpet products, specifically Beef and Bison Roll and Beef and Lamb Kibble for many (over 10) years. While they are great products and our dogs like them, the Freshpet company is sporadically unable to supply the products to the stores.

The Petco stores have not had this product available for over two weeks. When I called Freshpet to complain about the availability I was to that they are switching to a new distributor which was the major cause of the problem.

This is third time we have had this type of problem. A year ago the problem was a result of new kitchens being brought online. While the product is good the company’s commitment to putting product on the shelf consistently is lacking.

They seem to do better with the poultry products than the beef and lamb. Our dog is poultry intolerant so those are not viable options.

Aloha, I would like to say thank you for the folk who produce this product. My dog was very sick we thought it was a upper respiratory issue that just would not go away, my baby would have so much mucus that he could not breath and would collapse, he had a bad smell , always biting at his feet and uncontrollable urnation.

After a conversation with a person who was in a line waiting for service , I had noticed the ladies cute little dog, she said he was not always that a way and started describing how her baby was acting a few months earlier, which was similar to my baby’s.

Now I had been making my dogs food for years, fresh chicken , and a kibble. I found out that kibble is no good and chicken and turkey are taboo for some dogs. My baby had a chicken and turkey allergy.

I read up about how it takes about 2 months for a change , but to start by elimating the foods presently used and go for a bison or deer meat. I found Freshpet with bison, beef with veggies and fruits.

Well, I must see I started to see results right away, 2 months later he’s all good. ONE OF THE FIRST REVIEWS FOR THIS PRODUCT: was the the persons dog had uncontrollable peeing, it may have been they type they choose, perhaps the dog was allergic to chicken like my boy.

We’ve (had) been giving our little guys a small taste of Freshpet Vitals like a topper on their dry food for awhile (fish or turkey), lately we’ve noticed a roughness, a gritty grainy feel if you will, to the food…larger pieces look like “bone”, ground bone to be specific.

This concerns me a lot, especially since some of the larger pieces have sharp edges. Wanting to know if any one knows any thing about this, are they now adding ground up bone to their food? Has anyone else noticed this change? Of course it doesn’t help to contact the company since the will not respond to questions or inquiries of any kind that they consider negative or detrimental to their business.
