20 Best White Paint For Ceilings (2023 Updated)

purchased this product for an outdoor patio project and was slightly unimpressed. I had previously used KILZ upshot in my master bath resurfacing but I thought I’d try this one since it was a different project and different circumstances.

unfortunately it just didnt have quite the coverage I had anticipated. I wish I’d taken photos but it seemed to have very light coverage on bare wood and I paid more for this! I do know however the surfaces(ceiling and corners) in my bathroom are much different from bare wood that is exposed year round to the elements so I can kinda understand why my results with this product were less than I had expected.

perhaps I’ll try again with different circumstances in the future.

Easy to use, does not clog, no mess I laid out a drop cloth and didn’t need it, no overspray. It was the easiest ceiling spray Primer and Paint I have ever used. I thought it would never match my ceiling so I bought some paint for the second coat, didn’t need it, because it covered and matched well after drying.

No overspray. I bought 2 cans thinking I would run out, barely used any. I love it.

sprays in spurts, aerosol ran out and an was still full. ive used other brands qnd have never had this problem. returned for my money back.

We got this for our painting project. It’s almost inevitable that we hit the ceiling with paint. This stuff easily covers mistakes. It’s really easy to use too. The spray comes from the top and has a pretty long spray distance.

The only thing I didn’t like was that it left a little mist on my walls. Next time you l will have to cover my walls.

I had some water damage. My ceiling tiles turned brown. Nothing else worked. This covered the stains and you cannot tell there was anything wrong. The only minor issue is that the paint does splatter on whatever is beneath you.

Make sure you prepare for that. Great product and great price.

This spray is easy to use. I was amazed on how well it covered the spots on my ceiling actually matching the white. The ceiling I used it on hasn’t been painted in years = many years so I thought this new spray might show up but it blended perfectly.

It does not have a strong odor either. Awesome product.

I used this paint on my kitchen ceiling. The house had been owned by people who smoked for years. Between that and just basic kitchen grease, it was completely yellowed. Even after we’d scrubbed it down, it was gross.

I would catch the smell occasionally, and there were darker patches. So we painted the ceiling with two coats in a creamy white shade. It has worked so , so well. The paint went on very easily, and we’ve had no bleed-through or spots.

That smell is gone and I feel like it’s all captured and covered with the paint. Due to the light color, the whole kitchen feels brighter and all in all, it’s just a lot more pleasant.

I’m a part-time Handyman and a full-time Honey-Do list follower, and BEHR paint has always been my go to paint for really only one reason. That’s because it covers generally in one coat for times than not under most circumstances.

About 6 months ago a business neighbor at our office building gave me two gallons of blue paint he had mistakenly ordered and didn’t have a use for it. He knew I was always painting things, so I was the go to guy to find a use for it.

I thanked him and didn’t even pay attention to the brand on the can, since it was free, just the color. This past weekend, I repainted a room at the office and decided to use the free blue paint. The room was heavily painted with a dark brown color and I thought two gallons of light blue would not be enough to cover the much darker base.

Well, I painted what I thought would be just the first coat and was very surprised when the brown was immediately replaced with a beautiful light blue with just the one coat on the first wall. I was so surprised, I then looked at the brand and thought “Of course” it’s BEHR, that’s why it’s just one coat.

Yes, it was ceiling paint, but it worked on the wall just fine, although it’s a flat look, it’s very attractive. I know this sounds like an ad, but I’ve tried all the brands at the different box stores and I go out of my way to find a Homedepot, just to buy the BEHR paint because I hate wasting work time on multiple coats if I can avoid it.

I live in a home built in the late 70’s. Every ceiling has “popcorn” concealer. I call it concealer because of all the workmanship flaws “popcorn” hides. I am slowly working my way through the house scraping and repainting the ceilings.

Behr Ultra stain blocking ceiling paint is incredible and the price is the most reasonable I have found especially considering the quality! It give great coverage and conceals the small flaws left after mudding and re-sand the ceiling.

An important tip and step to take before painting with this or any product. Use a damp cloth to wipe all the dust off the ceiling. I painted professionally for several years. I tried other product then I found Behr.

I have not considered another paint since. I use strictly Behr products for all my painting needs.

I painted a basement open ceiling twice with a good white paint. Both times, the regular white paint bled through. We were trying to create a room so our teens could call it their own to enjoy with their friends.

I then tried Kilz, with it’s claim of covering stains. Kilz worked like a charm for the 3rd painting and has not bleed though stains. Nice and bright white where our old sistern was located. Years later the room is still nice and I owe it all to Kilz.

I purchase kills ceiling paint all in one because I could cover up ceiling stains as well as just paint the ceiling. I love the color on it especially. It was just Ceiling white, but the color is just nice.

The three ceilings I painted with it are the nicest ceilings that I have. It is also lasted for over 10 years still looking fresh and new.

We used this product in a major reno of our home. There was so many obstacles. We chose this product to accommodate the challenges for the ceiling and walls. It proved to be a life saver. We are documenting this entire process.

We will be happy to encourage others to use this paint. It was awesome!.

Used for area painting in open floor plan room. Is NOT flat. Dries with a sheen. Color match was great when looking straight up at it, but from angles it’s obvious what was newly painted. Not recommended for repairs/open floor plans.

Stinky strong ammonia smell like nearly every other Zinsser paint I’ve used – as expected but I hoped maybe not this one.

I love this paint and primer, as it coats smoothly and covers in two coats. (I NEVER believe in one coat of anything). The color is bright white, my favorite for ceilings. Having used it in the past with no problems, I just bought 6 gallons for my new home, a 1961 rancher with low ceilings.

It will brighten every room! I always spot-primer with shellac or oil-base primer any dark, waxy, wood knots, or water stains, and highly recommend that you do too. It saves a lot of heartache, as spot touch-ups are never good on ceilings, and you won’t want to keep recoating the whole ceiling because some stain keeps popping through.

Used this paint for a smoker’s home to paint the popcorn ceilings. This is a great paint for the price, covered the yellowed ceiling in 2 coats and even though I covered up all carpet and furniture, I saw nothing but 2 little platters on my plastic after rolling the ceilings.

So, it covers up stains really well and works very clean. One down side to this one: DO NOT USE IN WET SPACES, because of the pink pigment in the paint that will start showing anytime the paint gets wet.

I will always use this paint for ceilings, excellent quality for the price.

A roof leak, before a repair, left a stain on our living room ceiling. I was disappointed with this product because even though I carefully followed directions, four successive applications were required before the stain became invisible.

I did like the vertical spray tip which makes it possible to hold the can upright while spraying on a ceiling.

I used this to cover watermarks from a leak on our large ceiling in our kitchen dining space. Wanted to avoid repainting the whole ceiling as it had only recently been painted. Thought it was worth the try and it did in fact do the job perfectly, can’t see the marks or the paint job at all.

I found you have to be careful not to hold the can too close to the ceiling and do short bursts while moving or you can end up with drips. When that happened I wiped the paint off and just did it again.

Had to do a couple of thin coats to cover it, but all in all not a big effort, very happy to recommend this product!.

Bought this paint spray to cover small water stain on repaired kitchen ceiling. On trying to use paint went everywhere except the stained ceiling. took 2 hours approx to clean the ,sticky paint from walls also left a white dusty surface to most kitchen units.

vertical aero spray did not work. I would never use this again. returned it to shop and staff gave immediate refund.

I Had a build up of mould (thanks to the children not putting the fan on or opening windows) in the bathroom. After cleaning the walls with sugar soap (which I must say was fantastic) I was still left with spot stains especially round my window and above the shower.

I have heard that the primers and killers from zinsser are excellent. However I didn’t need this as I didn’t have damp coming through and the amount off stains weren’t on that level. So I saw this on offer and thought it was well worth a try.

The can is easy to shake. I have bad wrists and elbows so have no power to give cans a good shake before use. I found this easy to do. It has a upright nozzle so you can hold the can upright and the spray really comes out some.

I was shocked at how powerful the spray was so just a tip don’t spray to close. It really is low odour so don’t forget to open windows as it will still get on your chest. The cover was good once I figured out the best speed to do the strokes.

No need for a second coat for me. The spray dust came off my tiles with ease but remember to wape these even if you can’t see any paint. Only time will tell if these stains start to show through now.

Overall am very impressed.

The paint does touch up stains, but the color forms not match original tile color. The touch up paint is a bright white, with a matte finish. Armstrong ceiling tiles are a few shades below bright white, and have a semi gloss finish.

You can see where touch up was performed on ceiling. Surprised Armstrong couldn’t have come up with a better color match for their touch up paint. The bottles are small, and will cover about 10 tiles.

I recommend using the Armstrong paint or Kilz first, then another white over it for a better match.

Lightly textured ceiling white to perfectly match Armstrong fissure textured drop in panels. includes easy to use brush in cap. nice and thick to allow overhead application and one or two coat coverage.

best use is to apply by brush and then daub in to match texture. Dries quickly.

This paint is a lifesaver!!! It works really well at covering up blemishes in the ceiling tiles!!! Just one coat with the brush that comes with it and your tile looks like new again!!! I ordered it at around 12:30pm one day and got it less than 24 hours later! It was shipped the day I ordered it!!! That’s amazing! Super fast shipping and really an amazing product.

IšverstiShow in original languageI painted the prayer room in my home. Two coats without primer did the trick and made the room look a lot brighter and neater. Loved the result. The paint is quite thick and a good amount was used.

I used 3/4 gallon for two coats on a medium sized room. The customer service was great as well when my family was trying to cancel my order-obviously we changed our mind again 🙂 This may be on the more expensive side, but I definitely recommend.

You will completely change the space. Now I’m going to be doing 3 coats in my kitchen for the ceiling to be absolutely perfect. Kitchen’s got textured ceilings and 2 did the trick (room’s looking brighter and bigger already), but the 3rd coat will look amazing :).

IšverstiShow in original languageI never thought that I would love ceiling paint, but we love this one! I was totally overwhelmed with all the options at paint stores, and since we had purchased paint from Clare before, I went online to see if they had ceiling paint.

And boom- 1 option- white ceiling paint! Our order came quickly. We paid someone to paint our ceiling, and they actually asked what paint we had purchased- because they loved it! Said it wasn’t as messy as Sherwin Williams and it was covering much better too! Will turn to Clare for all of my painting needs.

This is the perfect ceiling paint- it only took one coat. You can’t even see the brush strokes where he cut in. I cannot give this paint enough stars!.

IšverstiShow in original languageI used this to cover a tricolor and a beige ceiling. I did not prime first, but I did use 2-3 coats. Both ceilings turned out beautifully. The paint looks splotchy while it’s drying, but dries perfectly, hiding all brush strokes and what appeared to be uneven coverage when wet.

This paint is the worst latex paint I have used in terms of odor and noxious fumes. Be sure you have fans running and good ventilation to the outside before using it. It made me sick because I didn’t have enough ventilation.

A good facemask (P95 or better) would also be advised. The paint does cover really well.

The only Benjamin Moore product that I have been disappointed with. The coverage is poor and doesn’t finish well with a brush in trim areas,. It is more like whitewash versus a quality paint like the other Benjamin Moore paints I use.

Worked well for my ceiling. It does dry quite fast so work quickly. If you care about perfection, it does show a little texture difference between areas cut in with the brush and rolled areas when you look from certain angles.

Would probably be best if you rolled after cutting and got the roller as close to the edge as possible.

I am a Designer and selected this for a coffee house ceiling I was redoing. We were going over a heavily textured, sunshine yellow ceiling. One coat with a thick nap roller covered it perfectly – NO priming was done.

Never even needed a second coat. The finish was perfect. No dripping or streaking. I bought and used it again for my daughter’s bedroom ceiling. I was painting over darkly stained pine tongue and groove wood.

I used two coats of stain blocking primer and one coat of this paint. Perfection! The eggshell finish allows me to wipe it down easily without it being shiny. The color is crisp and clean without being too blue.

I will also use it on the window trim. Love it!.

two coats on exterior of house looks good. Paint is thicker than some and does not splatter. Covers well
