20 Best White Button Down Shirt For Woman (2023 Updated)

Ideal for hard core gardeners. I grow a lot of my own organic produce and average about 2-3 hrs per day in the garden during the summer. I’ve worn long sleeve light colored shirts for summer sun protection for years.

While I had my doubts at first that these would be any better than a denim or Oxford cloth shirt in the heat of the summer, these really do work to effectively protect from sunburn, while keeping you cool.

They can be covered in dirt, and wash up extremely well on delicate with cool water. Hang dry very quickly so you can repeat the next day. They are my go-to garden shirt from March through October. This makes my 5th Bahama long sleeve shirt.

I usually wear a US womens 12. A medium would fit me like an office shirt, but I prefer the large which is more of a tunic length and provides great ease of movement.

I have been buying these shirts for my husband for several years now. He loves them, I love them. They are well made keeping the quality and style you can always expect from Columbia products. They look awesome too! My husband fishes the Columbia river and surrounding lakes from April to October and wears them every single time.

They hold their bright color and I can get the stains from stinky baits out of the fabric without a lot of effort. He gets lots of compliments from the wives of his buddies about how he always looks so good on him.

Material is soft but strong. Ordered both the Women’s Medium and the Women’s Small. Am 5 foot 3 and 130 lbs. Both sizes fit with enough room to wear a long sleeved tee shirt underneath. Got a chance to try out the shirt in our recent heat wave.

Found that the shirt heated me up a bit, but not too badly. Loved that the chest pockets are actually large enough to put things in. The velcro closure has a tab that allows easy opening of the pockets.

There is a little bitty pocket on top of each large pocket. Not sure what that is for. But you can’t ever have too many pockets!.

Splendid shirt! Equal in quality with those I have purchased from more exclusive shops. Washes well. I think I will purchase a second one!

This shirt is totally wrinkle free, just a little stretchy, and very well-made. The fabric looks and feels expensive and the cut is flattering. Seams and button-work add to the appearance of quality (it looks and feels much more expensive than it is).

I took this on a cruise and had to wash it twice because I wore it so much; all I had to do was wash it with a little soap in the sink, roll it in a towel to remove excess water, and hang it overnight to dry – it looked brand new the following morning.

I just ordered two more in white so that I can have them forever, as well as one each in the other colors. I will never travel without this shirt!!.

If you prefer crisp cotton, this one is not for you. I prefer something with some stretch, that moves with me. The microfiber fabric is silky smooth so everything you wear on top just slides right over.

Washes up beautifully, wrinkles fall right out. Actually love the unfinished hem—no bulk when tucking the shirt in. Also, I’m short, and found the extra length in back a little much, so a sharp pair of shears and a steady hand made for a quick adjustment.

Looks great with leggings or jeans and is such a versatile wardrobe piece. Only thing that would make it better would be a little stiffening in the collar, so that when you pop it, it would stay up. The size chart was accurate, got a perfect fit when ordering according to my honest measurements.

Love this shirt! Green is a beautiful color. Length is perfect for skinny jeans. Semi-fitted which makes this shirt very figure flattering and slimming. I highly recommend. Have it in both colors. Also, material does not wrinkle.

I was looking for perfect white shirt for so long. I bought Mika because of this all opinions on AB website. Shirt has perfect cut! Looking really very good. Is oversized so XS is really quite big, great with skinny jeans and leggings.

Can be washed but in cold water and hands. Ironing also possible, nothing wrong happens. There is one thing: colour is not as white as I expected, it is rather off-white.

I’ve never loved a shirt so much. I’ve been searching for a good, crisp white button-down and after trying several others on that were just OK, I put this one on and It was like angels started singing.

I felt so incredible, I can’t explain it. The thick, crisp cotton feel of this shirt is perfection and I LOVE the cut. It’s a little longer in the back. Can’t say enough good things. So worth the money.

This is a staple closet item, and I like how well-made it is, with durable material, strong seams, and thick fabric. The shirt truly is non-iron, but the cut is off. I usually wear a small, or between sizes ranging 2-4.

I bought a small, and the shoulders fit well, and where it hits at the hip fit perfectly. The sleeves were perfect. However, the back of the shirt billows out at the top, and it sort of slims down at the natural waist.

It makes for an awkward hunchback look that wasn’t in my favor. I went to a tailor to have him fix the issue, but it wasn’t worth the cost. I unfortunately returned these (ordered 2 of the same to stock up).

I am giving this 5 stars because I feel it didn’t deserve less. I did not keep it as I didn’t like the larger, boxy fit of it. It describes it as loose fitting, but it was too loose for me. I recently received a Ralph Lauren Plus Size Wrinkle-Free Bengal-Striped Dress Shirt in the mail. Prior to opening the package containing the Dress Shirt, I realized that I wasn’t sure what to expect.

I’ve always heard about the prestigious Ralph Lauren Brand, but have never purchased high-end clothing such as this. Given the high price of the item, I hoped that the quality of the article of clothing would be excellent.

After trying on the Dress Shirt, which fit comfortably, I realized that it was definitely worth the price! The material was thick and well insulated (to my surprise), keeping my upper body warm and toasty throughout the day.

Furthermore, the Dress Shirt felt well made, from the tight stitching to the small Ralph Lauren embellishments. I knew that this was something that would last me a long time. Additionally, this Dress Shirt complemented my body shape amazingly! Usually, as a plus size individual, I feel self-conscious about the way clothing fits me.

This wasn’t the case when I wore this. Instead, I felt beautiful and confident, ready to take the day by storm! Finally, this Dress Shirt is definitely wrinkle-free, just as it promises to be. The material stayed free of wrinkles throughout a day’s wear! Overall, I can conclude that the Ralph Lauren Plus Size Wrinkle-Free Bengal-Striped Dress Shirt is of high quality, and is definitely worth the price.

I look forward to purchasing products from Ralph Lauren in the near future. I would definitely recommend investing your money in purchasing one of their products.

I have depended on these shirts for over 30 years. I wear PETITES and have been anxiously awaiting new shirts since new PETITES weren’t available last year. I ordered the black checked one and realized the fit is no longer the same.

I just purchased the Black Jacobean as well, which is constructed the same, so the change was last year some time. The shoulders are wider and sleeve length is a bit longer, but what is so different is the collar: it is larger and no longer a nice straight spread collar.

Now it is larger, cut rounder, funky and makes the neck larger. Probably a little more like a generic uniform shirt. You can see the obvious difference when you press it. I do not like the collar as it changes the whole appearance and fit.

After so long of a wait, I returned and won’t be purchasing more until the collar goes back to what it was, smaller and straight. I was also disappointed in the top stitching and thread, it was cheap looking.

At this price point, I expect more.

This is a great quality shirt. Darts in the back make for nice shaping detail. I ordered this in the Alabaster Jacobean Floral and the colors are not complimentary to each other at all. In fact they clash.

The Flowers have a nice bright pink color but the background is yellow cream color. The yellow tones do not go with the bright pink. I looked at this shirt on three different monitors before buying and never saw the yellow rather what showed was an off white/ivory tone.

Not a keeper. sending back. Did buy this shirt in another color that is not offered now and it is great! Which is why I wanted another one.

I bought the ivory/navy stripe and it is really just white and navy. It is pretty and nice silky fabric. Could be worn for work or just to dress up jeans. I ordered up a size to help with sleeve length since I have long arms but did not really need to.

Cuffs were big enough also. I returned it because it was a too large and it was longer than it appears in the photo almost tunic length so with the vertical stripes it seemed to long. Maybe reorder usual size.

Great shirt! I ordered two, olive green and striped tan, both good colors for me. Fabric is a soft cotton twill that washes well, no shrinkage, hangs to dry, and irons quickly and beautifully. (Yes, I iron!) I found the striped needed little except for collar, placket, and hem.

I spent more time on the solid green but it wasn’t really necessary. You can tell the quality of a garment when you iron it and these were comparable to my beloved Madewell shirts. They are oversized, I could have worn large but wanted the oversized look with leggings (5’6” 175 lbs).

Very highly recommended!.

I’m typically a L/XL in shirts and I bought 2 in size Large. They are a little big but that’s what I wanted, XL would have been too big. I get *many* compliments on the orange striped one when I wear it.

It really is a beautiful fall color and I’m not typically a burnt orange person. I love the color but it doesn’t look great with my pale/pink skin but this orange is really perfect. More neutralized in a way than punchy orange.

The burgundy is also a beautiful deep color though I have to say I really like the stripes on this shirt.

A few years ago, I bought this same brand and the sleeves were too short. I’m glad these sleeves are fine. I am 5 foot 8. Well made, heavier fabric for fall weather. I initially bought 2x, thinking it would run smaller like before.

I swapped it for 1x and it’s fine. I bought the black and the burgundy which is quite pretty.

The shirt is just okay. I was looking for a classic white button up that could be dressed up or down. This wasn’t it. The collar is weirdly “short”. The fit is boxy, without shape. The material isn’t bad, but not great either.

Nice shirt for normal everyday wear. I actually wear in warmer weather with a tank underneath since I like my upper arms to be covered! Very versatile and easy wear! If you don’t like to iron, just take out of the dryer as soon as you can!.

I sized down due to the reviews stating this shirt ran slightly big. I normally buy XL at FN because I have an hourglass shape thus linebacker shoulders. lol. I bought a large and it fits perfect especially around the shoulders and upper waist.

My measurements are 38C-30-48.

Looks really cute on and goes well with a skirt or pants. You can definitely dress it up or down or business or casual. I have long arms so I always size up in tops so I can avoid being uncomfortable

Love the shirt but your arms need to hang to the floor. The arms are super long. I will try to get it tailored. Glad I didn’t pay full price. Only reason I’m keeping it. Really wish the sleeves were not so looooong.

Love this shirt. It’s stretchy in a good way. Very breathable and easy to move in. Love the collar! I have to wear white for work so the only thing is it’s a little see through but no biggie if you wear a tank top underneath! Definitely recommend.

This shirt is very well made and comfortable. It washes well and needs no ironing. I have some in the blue color; I wish there were more colors. I love having the pocket. I cannot find a shirt like this anywhere else.

I purchased this shirt in white and was disappointed in the cut and material. The cut was extremely boxy and unflattering. The material was thin and almost translucent – even with a base-layer tank, the shirt was inappropriate to wear to work.

I also purchased this shirt in black and, while the translucency was not a problem, the boxy, unflattering cut made me dissatisfied with this color, too. Both shirts were great quality if you were looking for a square fit and sheer materials, but they did not meet my requirements for a button-up work shirt.

This shirt is absolutely great! Crisp, sufficiently stretchy, and true to size. I bought a blue one and then went back for the white one. They wash and dry well, yet retain a polished look excellent under blazers or cardigans.

I was so excited to find a summery work shirt, that I bought 3. Bad decision. White with black stripes too sheer. French Rose was muted, unlike the photo. And the very light blue-green pastel was actually a dull grey.

Fit was too small in all 3, and each fit differently. Not enough ease in the back, and armholes. Buttons gaped mid-chest. Sleeves came rolled with a tab. I unrolled one sleeve, only to discover a floppy cuff with a very long slit opening, no placket, and no interfacing.

If you button the sleeves to wear long, the sleeve vents just flop around and hang out. Totally unprofessional and cheap construction. So disappointed in all 3. Going back to a similar style in Torrid’s blouses which start at size 10.

For reference, I’m a 36D and typical size L, or 10-12 in blouses.

I loved the way it looked on the model, however, after receiving in the mail I’m not super thrilled. Material is very thin, a camisole is required (unless your comfortable having your bra show through), the color is not what I would consider red but rather a burnt orange, the body/torso area fits just fine but the sleeves are so tight it made me feel like I was trying an extra small compared to a plus size shirt.

If built like me and have chubby arms I recommend sizing up. The shirt is still cute enough that I’m doing just that, returning for a larger size. However, I bought other colors in this shirt that I’m also not happy with but so unhappy with them that I’m not going to exchange for a bigger size.

And that’s just color preference on my part.

I love the fit of this shirt, and the silkiness of the fabric. Unfortunately I’ll be returning it. I noticed the shirt was buttoned up wrong when I tried it on, and the arms smelled like body odor. Obviously this was a return:( Thankfully, this is the only time I’ve had this problem when ordering from Maurices.

I have purchased several of the perfect shirts over the years, it’s always been my fav! But like many other brands they change the fit & fabric usually to save money. This is not the same shirt I have in my closet.

It’s stiff, scratchy and the sleeves fit so tight and the wrinkles are terrible! Sadly I will be returning and continue to look again for the perfect shirt.

I know many shirts just won’t accommodate a 34FFF, even with stretch. I ordered a large and could barely button it at all. Probably lovely and crisp on a thinner smaller-chested woman. The sleeves were a bit tight in my regular LP size.

It was almost too big in the shoulders, so with a narrow chest and sleeve, no way going up would help. I know it just didn’t fit me and the 4 stars are for the scratchy uncomfortable feel of the fabric.

This shirt is so great. I can dress it up and dress it down. I love wearing a sweater vest over it for a cute look. If you are bustier, I definitely recommend going a size or two up. I typically am a 4/6 in tops like these, however, I had to go all the way up to a ten because my bust was too large / made the buttons look awkward for a work setting.

I purchased this online in a size 6 but the employee was so kind to let me try on different sizes and exchange the size due to my bust. I probably wear this shirt twice a week. So soft, and definitely the “perfect shirt”.

While they fit fine and the cut is good, the fabric does not have the same high-quality texture and feel that I am accustomed to. The fabric feels a bit coarse and the black doesn’t look polished. Instead, it feels like a cheap black shirt that a waiter would wear to work.

Very disappointing.

This blouse is beautiful. Well made, fits wonderfully and the optic white goes with everything! I purchased four white ones so o would always have one ready to wear. After drying it comes out of the dryer pretty much wrinkle free.

If some wrinkles remain, just hang it up.

I’ve been looking for a yellow shirt with a collar that will stand up and this is perfect. The yellow is a bright buttery yellow – not too pale or too glaring – the collar stands up and the shirt stays crisp.

Can’t be any happier. When ordering it should be noted that this shirt is fitted rather than full. I ordered it in my usual size 2 but when I tried it on it was just a tad tight across the top so I went up a size to get the optimum fit Going up a size also allows me to wear a white tank under it if I want when temps get high.

I gave it a 4 instead of 5 star rating because I find the 3/4 sleeve length a bit awkward. Would have preferred it to be full length sleeves which can always be rolled up. But this is a minor issue. I really do love this shirt!.

I am frustrated that you seem to have forgotten the woman you launched this brand for or al least you’ve forgotten me. In the last few years I have bought several of your no-iron shirts and loved them for their look as well as their fit, particularly the length.

As one generation of women (age 67) that looks for a longer short for better coverage, your shop and site is devoid of any shirts like these. I bought this hoping it would be but it is short and doesn’t cover.

This isn’t the first return for this reason as when I order online the model shown is a tiny person so the image is misleading. The fabric in those previous purchases often tear–not at a repairable seem–after a few years of washes and wearing so to not be able to replace a simple white 3/4 sleeve leaves me to have to find another go-to brand.
