20 Best Whiskey For Whiskey Sours (2023 Updated)

So I have never had a whiskey sour before. We make mixed drinks frequently, so we had everything on hand to make it. We followed the directions on the bottle exactly. My husband loved it just like that.

But he’s a big whiskey drinker. I thought it was a little too much whiskey, so I made another one and added a little more of the whiskey sour mix, and a little less whiskey. That one was perfect!! I think these would be great on ice on a summer evening.

It’s almost that time of year so I am getting more of this mix for sure!.

I’ve never considered myself a “whiskey girl”. until I combined whiskey with Mr. & Mrs. T Whiskey Sour Mix. This has become my go-to social drink preference. I get a semi-sweet taste with a small pucker at the end without the pungent smell of the whiskey.

I am officially a happy “whiskey girl”!.

Ok haven’t ever tried whiskey sours went by directions. Added a orange slice and a few cherries. It was cool and very refreshing. And has a great taste. Love to just sit outside and sip a great tasting drink.

Would definitely have again.

My adult son (who cannot drink) has been into the YouTube channel How to Drink and has been experimenting with bar recipes. We bought a bunch of bitters and mixers so he can experiment and he has made us a few amazingly delicious Tom Collins from this mix.

Many mixers taste artificial and this mixer has a fresh complex herbal flavor with some wonderful floral aroma. It makes a great nonalcoholic drink as well!.

Friends sent us a gift card to MOUTH. We are enjoying our selection immensely. I highly recommend checking it out for yourself or foodie friend. We chose the following: Charred Grapefruit Tonic, was really a fun cocktail ingredient during a ZOOM girlfriend party.

Mole Poblano Sauce, still enjoying. Matzo Ball Soup Kit was easy and taste home made. Ivory Barbecue Sauce, interesting and tasty. Barbecue Sauce, looking forward to trying. Hot Fudge Sauce was over the mood.

I usually don’t like mixers because they are too sugary. I’m also a big fan of Whiskey Sours, especially made by seasoned bartenders. This was given to me as a gift and I’m so glad because I never would’ve tried it.

I’ve repurchased it about 4 times already and will continue. It’s so much easier than making the mix yourself and I love the smokey flavor. I also add an egg white to the shaker for a bit of light foam and a Luxardo Cherry to be fancy.

Don’t sleep on this mix. I want to venture out and try other flavors from this brand but this one is so good I haven’t branched out yet!.

In my early 20s Master of Mixes was my go to. I always found and still see it at Homeland grocery store on sale. It’s very affordable. Around $5-6 for a large bottle. A couple bottles were always enough for a party.

The flavor of this mix isn’t great. It’s the kind of drink that the first one is harsh and the second one is smooth 😂 Good, cheap, easy margaritas though! And mix is always available down the road from almost anywhere in town.

Not quality but quantity in this situation. Highly recommend for college parties, or for just sampling all the mixers. I loved buying multiple at a time just to try them all! #drinkmix #masterofmixes.

I tried the Mango flavor by accident. After trying I actually liked it, the flavor was nice and smooth going down and tastes like mangos. I liked this flavor more as a frozen drink. The price is very reasonable.

So if you’re hanging out with friends, girls nights or just relaxing by yourself bring Master of Mixes Mango flavor to the party! It makes great Margaritas and more. I mixed with Vodka for this drink and also good with Tequila.

I had a friend over a few weeks ago and we decided margaritas were needed so I grabbed the bottle of tequila I had chilling in the freezer and this bottle of mango margarita/daiquiri mix from the fridge and blended them per the recipe on the bottle.

I’ve never made margaritas from scratch so I had picked it up a few weeks ago when I knew he was coming to town. I had never purchased the brand before but had seen it on the shelves for years so I thought it would be okay.

I thought it would be a nice, quick, and easy version of my favorite margarita flavor. It wasn’t. It was terrible. It had a cloyingly sweet, definitely fake flavor and also more than a hint of flavor of the plastic bottle.

Neither of us could bear to drink it so we poured them out and had straight tequila instead. I will not purchase this again and may avoid buying another type of mixture altogether from this brand based on my dissatisfactory experience with this one.

I cannot in good faith recommend this product nor any of the other mixers made from this brand.

Jack Daniel’s is an American classic. Perfect flavor and a true whiskey. If you ever get the chance to visit the operation in Tennessee, do it. Tours, tastings, and so much history. Amazing that such a tremendous whiskey is produced from a single spot in it’s original location to this day!.

My BF loves Jack. It’s grown to be a staple at our home. Affordable. Strong. Classy enough. Whether you drink it straight or mixed the true taste of the whisky is always there. Flavor is strong for me personally, plus I’m a light weight.

I would recommend it over a lot of other whiskeys we have tried. There is a reason that songs rave over Tennessee Whisky. Great flavor. Great price. Great buzz. Overall a damn good drink if you make it right.

I bought this based on some online reviews but found it pretty disappointing. For a >$50 bottle of bourbon I was expecting more flavor and complexity. It was just very one dimensional and not very exciting.

It wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t call it good (and I typically prefer wheated bourbon). For less money you can get a bottle of four roses small batch which is so much tastier than this. But…my bottle I noticed the stopper seemed a lot looser than it should be.

Barely any effort and the cork came right out. I didn’t think anything of it but about an hour or hour and a half after drinking some of this it made me vomit. I figured it was a fluke that maybe I had a touch of food poisoning or a stomach bug ( I had only had the one drink, I didn’t vomit from overindulgence).

But a few weeks later I tried it again and the same thing happened. At first it was fine (if a little boring in the taste department) but about 1-1. 5 hours later there I was again in the bathroom. I dumped the bottle the next day (although it pained me to pour $50 down the drain).

I think the stopper was the issue and the bourbon got contaminated or had a bad cork. Either way I won’t be buying this one again. I would urge you not to drink it if you notice the stopper seems too loose.

I don’t get these glowing reviews, this is a 3 star bourbon at best. I took off an additional star because of the high price. There is no real flavor to this, no complexity. This is sourced juice from MGP in Indiana and sold as a CO bourbon.

Nothing special here at all. Save your money, there are soooo many better bourbons out there for half the price. Four roses small batch, Angels envy, even straight up Maker’s Mark beats this stuff hands down.

Honestly, these folks ought to be ashamed of themselves selling bottom shelf bourbon as though it was a premium selection.

So this is an excellent whiskey and it’s Brand is highly rated by well regarded whiskey tasters such as Jason C of Mash and Drum. He’s who I personally trust. Anyway, it is very good and not hot on the back end.

To me it tastes of Vanilla and caramel notes with some oak on the back end. Easy swallow as well. Reup also does an excellent job packaging your bottles and getting them to you discreetly as well. Highly recommended.

Originally bought the Reserve & liked it a lot, although it’s a little higher ABV than I normally drink. Bought this today, enjoyed some during happy hour and absolutely love it at 40% less cost than the reserve – and at 90.

4% ABV, it’s about 125% lower ABV than the Reserve. To be clear, this is NOT a Tennessee whiskey as other have alluded to, it’s a product of MGP in Lawrenceburg, IN. Another MGP winner.

I’m not a bourbon purist but I’d rather drink something firmly rooted in tradition than something whipped up in a lab (mostly for the satisfaction of investors!) With all the hype and choices in bourbons these days, it’s easy to forget what a good, solid pour is all about.

It’s definitely not what the “cool kids” say or what social media influencers get paid to promote. Really, it’s all about you. Your palette, your personal taste. For my money, Belle Meade Sour Mash is a consistent performer with a smooth finish fit for sipping neat, or any way you want to enjoy it.

Purchased this on a trip to Tennessee. Very nice! As a huge fan of Maker’s 46, I was pleased at how similar this was. Made a great Old Fashioned. Warm, vanilla, caramel. All my favorite notes. I will buy again.

I’ve been close to John since I could first put a glass to my lips. maybe it was because it was Frank Sinatra’s drink of choice but whatever I acquired a taste for Jack and its never let me down. Straight, on the rocks or with a mixer it never disappoints, although some find it has a little after taste I find it smooth and mellow throughout.

It’s a wonderful pre dinner or post dinner drink and it goes well all alone on its own at the end of a good evening. Salute !.

We love Drnxmyth! I originally ordered the full bar for my fiancé’s birthday. He now is obsessed with them and less than a week later we had another shipment come in. The bottles are so nicely designed (although I prefer to have one on my own and not share) and they all taste great! Our favorite was the bourbon sour, least favorite was the spiced sangria.

However my favorite part of drnxmyth is their customer service. The company as a whole is nothing short of amazing quality from start to finish. We can’t wait for more drinks to come out!.

The idea is great and the drink itself was very good. But somehow I messed the directions to twist and mix, so just got the alcohol for the first few sips! My bad, I guess. My main issue with this service is the wasteful packaging.

The single drink came in a box that could have probably held 3 dozen drinks, but had huge blocks of Styrofoam and an ice pack. I think it could have come in a small box and then put in a refrigerator or poured over ice.

Hi! I would LOVE to have tried your Bourbon Sour, because I love all things bourbon! But that is not what I received. In its place, I received a Strawberry Margarita. This drink was ok, but since I typically don’t choose fruit-forward drinks, it is not what I would have chosen in a bar.

That said, it was a nice drink and I would recommend it to someone who does enjoy fruity drinks. :).

This is a truly smooth bourbon, a little sweet, some oak notes from the barrel, and great whiskey burn. A great sipping bourbon. I recommend straight, no mixer rewired.

A friend from out of town was raving about this Pecan Praline whiskey he had tried the last time he was in Lafayette and begged me to find a bottle for him. Total Wine was the only place I have been able to find it.

I got him a bottle and grabbed a bottle for myself. It is like sipping a pecan pie. Now I buy two bottles every time I go to Total Wine.

If you like flavored whiskey you will like this. I’m not a fan of the syrupy texture it has but my wife loves it. It has a good flavor though. Something good for new whiskey drinkers.

If you are looking for a fine sipping whiskey, this is not it but. it is surprisingly good for what it is. It is a very sweet after dinner dessert sipper or shooter if you are of that mind set. I often pour a little into my second cup of gourmet coffee in the morning or afternoon.

A great alternative to a pecan praline after a hearty Mexican food meal. Try it. just for fun.

This is a stellar bourbon. A good friend of mine described it as sipping “hot maple syrup”. That’s not too far off the mark, though the aromas and flavors are far more complex. You can certainly pick up rich maple and brown sugar on the nose, and interestingly, at this high proof, the alcohol does not overwhelm you.

There are other notes as well on the nose, like pecan and honey, though those are more nuanced. Once it is in your mouth, the journey truly begins. I hate to write what note and flavors I taste, because it seems to detract from what others might think.

Sit there and savour it. Think about what you are tasting. The finish is long and satisfying. Keep the glass for a long time to savour its aromas after it is empty. You will not be disappointed with the bottle.

I can’t say for certain I had any of the batches mentioned on this product page, but the bottle I was served from recently knocked my socks off. Truly remarkable nose and taste. Fresh and clean. It’s a smooth start but packs a lovely punch at the end.

I received a George T Stagg Jr batch 15 (131. 1) a bottle I already had; the version displayed and described on the website available for purchase was batch 12 (132. 2) There is a big differences in these batches.

Was this a mistake? Maybe, so I emailed asking if they had the 12 or if not if I could have a monetary refund for the difference in the bottles. I received no response. Hopefully this is rectified.
