Aberlour Whiskey 18 was launched just for general consumption in 2008 before it had only produced for the French market. The distillery was founded in 1879 by James Fleming, who was determined to build on the site of the mill St Drostan to ensure uninterrupted supply of pure water.

When the journalist Alfred Barnard visited Aberlour in 1880, as part of its comprehensive review of Scottish whiskey distilleries, he described the new distillery James Fleming as “a perfect modern distillery.

The initial flavour consists of warm spices which are then followed by flavours of cherries, peaches and tones of orange. There’s a lovely crisp and clean finish to it which is somewhat smoky with elements of cinnamon and allspice.
