This book is So good that I’ve bought a hand full Of extra copies to pass along if and when others are interested. I started with it 15 years ago, deviated and made some mistakes for about 8 years, Got back to it 1.

5 years ago and realized why did I deviate but very happy to be back on track. My wife and I are debt free! we’ve paid the majority of our three kids undergraduate college cost, they worked to pay some themselves which I insisted they do.

We are one year away from our youngest completing his undergrad degree, they all will have or get their undergrad with no debt, my older son will have $140k of loans from his Medical Doctors degree when he graduates in 2024 (wish he didn’t have it but we’ve chosen to keep it fair between children and he’s in for a great career).

It is scary for the others in his class as he hears a lot of them have 200+ debt from undergrad and will add another 300k from med school, they will have over $500k total debt when they graduate – just scary to me.

My daughter is a chemical engineer with a great job at a bio pharma company and my youngest will graduate next spring with a cybersecurity degree, And we just paid off our mortgage in June 2022!!!! We’re truly Debt Free!!! Thank you for the guidance to help us tweak a few things and get across finish line.

We did become baby step millionaires btw when we turned 45, I am now 51 and my wife is 52. I am a Chemical engineer and she got an engineering degree but stayed home to raise the kids up until our youngest was 18 which was two years ago.

She now works for a procurement group. My income is 200k per year and hers is 45k per year. A big mistake I made was with buying into whole life insurance but I have replaced it with a 20 year term in June of this year 2022 with the help from Zander insurance.

The proceeds paid off our house and we are off to saving and investing now!! The other mistake I made was using OPM and equity in my house to buy three rental properties. I have sold all three as of three years ago.

My budget has us saving $110k after tax and after our 401ks are maxed out, per year in a year from now once we’re done assisting with kids college. We will now be looking to see how we can give a portion of this as well as saving/ investing.

I may buy another rental if I can pay cash for it, I haven’t decided if I want to get back Into that yet or just go For mutual funds and save some time and headaches of being a landlord. I share all this as I listen to Ramsey every morning to help me stay on track and motivated – love it! So this is my story for you in a nutshell.

12/5/2021 Dear Mr. Ramsay, For the last 30 to 35 years, I have lived a somewhat ascetic life. I try to be a cross between Henry David Thoreau and Thomas Merton. When my marriage ended, I wanted my ex-wife and kids to keep our Taj Mahal; and I have been living in an old rental shack in the ‘hood.

So, I love nuanced approaches to money-management. Rather than worrying about the rat-race posed by “Rich Dad/Poor Dad,” I prefer a world in which people focus on essentials, simplicity, and reuse of reusable resources.

The great value of your book is that it is not technical. My younger son is in his 2nd year of teaching Economics at Ball High School in Galveston, Texas. The demographics pose a struggling working-class mix.

We were in considerable debt with our credit cards; not just once, but twice. We were on one income due to starting a family. My wife didn’t make enough money to justify her going back to work and she wanted to stay home with the kids.

I was making $35K at the time (1997). The doctor bills piled up and we didn’t plan ahead for those bills. We also didn’t back off enough on our spending. We didn’t go out for dinner very often but we could have made different choices at the grocery store as an example.

We had just bought our second home that had more room to start a family and had two car payments. We also doubled our house payment from $400 to $950 per month when we did that. She took care of the bills and didn’t let me know that we didn’t have enough money coming in.

When I asked about our finances, she said we’re doing fine. She was an accountant, so why should I worry? I was working 60-65 hours a week and she didn’t want to put more pressure on me. We got behind $10K which we refinanced the house to get ourselves out of that debt.

Or should I say moved the debt. We got behind again the second time for $13K. We payed that one down little by little. Our first two kids were expensive. You’d think working for a very large company the insurance coverage would be great.

We quickly found out that anything over usual and customary became our responsibility. Our third was cheaper because our coverage had improved by then. It took almost twenty years at the same company to get up to a $52K salary.

My wife started back to work fifteen years ago around $12K and is now up to $45K. I’ve switched jobs and am making $56K now as well as being back to 40 hours. It wasn’t until around 2014 or 2015 that we found Dave Ramsey.

We’ve listened to podcasts and read several books. We also put a plan into action. We now are debt free and have a paid off home. I can’t tell you how much of a relief it is to not have that financial stress! We thought we were pretty good with our money.

We typically didn’t spend more than we made and had somewhat of a plan for the future. However, we didn’t have much in savings either. Basically enough to cover some car or home expenses. Definitely not enough to cover a job loss or major expense.

Although we were on a path of getting out of debt before utilizing Dave’s plan, we could have done it a lot faster and more efficiently had we followed it. I’m 52 and my wife is 51. We’ll celebrate 30 years of marriage this year.

We’ve never owned a new vehicle; we’ve always believed in purchasing used. We currently drive a 2007 and 2008 with 175K and 158K on them. We drove our last vehicles for over fourteen years before purchasing our current ones.

The repairs exceeded the value of the vehicle which forced an upgrade. We are now looking to add onto our 1,000 sq ft home to make it more family gathering friendly. We did have it half paid for with our savings then 2020 happened and the estimate doubled.

We’re not sure when we’ll start but I’m can tell you it’ll be paid off in short amount of time. The possibility of being back in debt is not a desirable one for us. However, we are better equipped to handle it today than before getting on Dave’s plan.

I’m not big on reading; it usually puts me to sleep pretty quickly. However, I started reading the book and had a hard time putting it down. If you want to get out of debt, I highly recommend this book! We give them as wedding gifts in hopes it’ll help keep new families out of the financial hardships that we had to deal with.

I have been following the budget mom for a few years on Instagram and her methods have changed the way I live. This book has given me even more insight to different things I’m going to try and implement into my spending habits and budget.

I have watched her YouTube videos and read her blog posts for years. While I still struggle to follow her method exactly (as my hubby is 3/4 of the way on board) I’m hoping this book will help us both get serious about becoming debt-free while living our best life! Slightly dated with respect to investment advice but an excellent book for financial spending and saving advice. Assets that increase in value over time can be financed but things / property that become worth less in time should never be financed.

I purchased this book as a gift because it has excellent information and questions and answers to help someone who is having financial problems. It gives good examples and worksheets to help put ones finances into usable charts and helps to make decisions easier.

Dave Ramsey is an awesome person as far as showing you how to live debt free. The Total Money Makeover book is all you need to learn this. I bought the workbook because I thought it would give me the tools to reach my goals.

It didn’t because it’s just a lot of brainwashing techniques and stories to keep you focused. I’m already focused so The workbook is just a regurgitation of the book. I haven’t read any other books for getting out of debt, so I can’t compare it.

All I can say is if you have the book, skip the workbook. Remember you are trying to get out of debt, so stop buying all his other products. You should be able to teach your kids about money without buying another book by Dave Ramsey.

He is a millionaire already, so how are you to reach his status if you keep purchasing his products. Be careful.

Awesome information. Purchased 10 copies plus workbooks gor friends and family. Have changed my life.

There’s a lot of good content in this book which is extremely helpful, however I can’t help but feel that half of the book is a giant ad for companies that Tony either owns or is associated with. He finished the book suggesting you donate your spare change to a company that helps feed starving kids (great), which is a company that he owns (not so great).

I have no doubt that Tony is a great and caring individual, and he comes from the right place with this book, but a lot of it feels like it’s designed to draw you to use his products. The book is very much built for the American market, and while some principals are universal, a lot of the advice is not relevant for the NZ market.

He hypes up this super portfolio for the whole book, which could have just been shared from the start and saved about 200 pages on this already long and dense read. The book in the middle stages heavily relies on using an app to determine your savings goals and similar, however the app is iOs exclusive, so if you’re like me with an android phone then a good 10% of the book can’t actually be accessed.

Save yourself 30 bucks and just google the principals of the book. If you’re still interested, buy it, but saving that use your $30 dollars for something else.

His teachings are a very good fit for us. Its a different niche from Dave Ramsey. Depends upon where you are in your financial journey. The negative part is forget about his app ! Not doable. Cant even find it.

Mel Robbins High Five Habit is one of the best books I’ve ever read, I love the way she reads it to you on Audible. It sounds just like she is sitting next to you. Her and tony Robbins are my favourite.

Definitely a must read. She is so inspirational.

This book is AWESOME! I have listened to the audiobook twice and I bought the hardcopy to get a better grasp on the questions at the end of the chapters. I highly recommend this book, it is seriously life-changing and written with compelling humour!.

This is probably one of the very few books that I would recommend to anybody who is starting or have started to Invest and is looking for knowledge! I would recommend to read all three of his books in this particular order: 1.

Learn To Earn 2. Beating the Street 3. One Up On A Wall Street. These three are like sequel of books. His first book tells the history of the Wall Street and the history of Stocks dating back from the early years back in 1600s.

His second book writes about the years of him working at Magellan Fund and starts to introduce some important numbers like P/E ratio, Balance Sheet, Earnings per Share and so on. His third book starts to explore all the important numbers mentioned in the 2nd book but in much greater detail.

It also talks about debt, dividends, sales ratios and so on. Most importantly it talks about the 4 types of businesses and the risk and rewards that come with those 4 different types of businesses. I’ve read 9 books on investing in the last 6 months and I think this one is by far the best! p.

After having seen this book published in a number of articles as recommended reading for individuals interested in investment, I was intrigued to read it. The author Peter Lynch does an amazing job of opening up your though process that anyone with a devoted interest in investments can accomplish a goal they set.

Taking you on a journey of his own unique path that lead him from being a young golf course caddy to becoming a highly respected fund manager. Repeatedly Mr. Lynch reminds the reader that the markets are unpredictable and emphasizes that regardless if the markets are bearish or bullish focus on purchasing the right stock is the most important aspect of investing.

I found the book to be a highly important read as Mr. Lynch not only reflects on his winning investments, but also his on losses or poor choice investments. A reasonable amount of time is spend discussing alternative investments outside of the stock market as well as a comparison of return on investment.

The charts and examples used throughout the book are easy to understand and offer an opportunity to compare to similar equities which are following the same trend today. Overall I was delighted to have read this book.

I found it to be informative and thought-provoking yet written in a simple to understand manner.

A truly timeless instruction on how to make real money on the stock market. You should never attempt to buy securities before you read this book. This is a very easy to understand education on how to pick stocks based on the company’s fundamentals and how to interpret the fundamentals and avoid losing your hard earned money.

The content is clean and clear and powerful. It shows that money is merely an energy source, just like water or air. How we use it is entirely up to our current level of consciousness. The methods are easy to follow and effective when properly applied.

This is, without a doubt, groundbreaking information which can be readily applied by most to change ones thinking and change ones life. Brilliant. I love it and highly recommend it for the serious student of higher consciousness.

Creating Money was a seminal work preceding the new wave of ” money and spirit” books that emerged in the 1990’s. Though now nearly 24 years old it has hardly dated because it’s ideas, including living out your lifes purpose and only doing things that don’t harm the planet are very much in tune with our times.

If you’ve read the odd prosperity book in the past but gave up on them after a while, Creating Money is a good title to reinspire you. Though you may think the idea of “channeled wisdom” odd, overall the book contains a lot of common sense, is easy to read and full of useful exercises.

If nothing else it should disabuse you of the belief that money and things are hard to create, because if you are aware of the spiritual laws of money, and if what you desire will help serve a greater purpose, you will only evidently see plenty.

This book is very obviously where Rhonda Bryne got her inspiration for The Secret,however Duane Packer and Sanaya Roman did it first and did it better! Well worth a read.

The book gives very practical exercises that are easy to do and they work. I have been manifesting a lot. I thank Jesus for this.

It goes into the psychology of how women relate to money; I found myself laughing out loud at this section. Because it is ridiculous, and because it’s true. I’m a working single parent; I was afraid this book would focus on the housewife crowd.

But, the advice is universally sound for all women. It inspired me to ask for a promotion at work. (I got a raise – which more than paid for the book in the first week – and the promotion paperwork has been filed, which will result in a second raise.

Yay!) I also moved my young daughters’ savings into higher interest rate accounts and involved and explained to them every step and the reasoning behind it. They were facinated and I know it will make a lasting impression, I wouldn’t have done any of that if it weren’t for the book.

It is very informative and defines and de-mystifies all that bank and broker jargon. She includes a month-by-month plan with a few steps each month, to help ease women into taking control of their money.

I hope she comes out with a second edition because the economy has changed so much since this was written & I wonder if any of her advice / strategies have changed.

This is a book every YOUNG person should study to help them with their financial situations. This book opens your eyes on how to handle your money wisely and not get in the trap of over spending. Advice on how to save for a home and how to set up a retirement plan that is extraordinarily simple.

I had read this book before and enjoyed it. I bought two copies for my neices. Orman provides good no nonsense advice for men and women. I feel I can trust her advice. I have followed her advice in many aspects of my finances, and have not suffered from the recession as yet.

Yes, I lost money on investments, but I have time for those investments to recover. I was reasonable well positioned prior to the downturn. Each chapter contains action steps to get the reader on firm financial footing.

Highly recommneded.

Good: Timeless wisdom and a process for anyone to change their relationship with money. The real world stories of how people applied the book to their lives was probably the most compelling part. Ok: I realize they wanted to remain as true to the orignal version as possible and make sure the content and process were accessible to all people, however I think the advice could be a bit more modernized for the internet age.

Also, the book could flow a bit better. Despite it’s flaws this book should be required reading for high school students.

Sometimes too simple, sometimes repeatative, some I agreed with, some disagreed with but ultimately a very good book. Some good conservative financial advice given from a solid (but not preaching) eithical prespective.

In addition to financial advice, at many times the book challenges and motivates you to look deep inside yourself to truely evaluate your priorities in life. You are challenged to look at your relationship with money (both on the income and expenditure sides), your spending patterns and how that squares with your true self and your goals.

Liked it well enough that I reccomended it to the wife, best friend, good co-worker and now you. Are you, making a living or making a dying? What are your spending habits? Do they square up with your satisfaction and goals? Will you have enough to become financially independent?.

If you want to get your finances in order and learn how to invest then this is THEE book you need to get started. Everything is explained very well without all of the fancy limbo and it is very easy to follow.

This is a book you want to buy and keep because it will become your reference book that you will need during your journey. I highly recommend this book as well as her Facebook group.

I listen to this authors podcast and have seen her as a guest on YouTube channels and television. I was excited to get this book. She is a great teacher. Makes money lessons easy to follow and easy TO DO THE WORK!.

Best book on Aussie money making ever written. Explains the Australian legislation regarding all money/ finance matters and how to legally take advantage of the rules. Plus explains many “money concepts” in easy relatable worked examples.

Noel writes an easy to read, useful and practical book for anyone looking at sorting out their finances and planning for the future. I purchased this book as well as Retirement made simple, fantastic books that compliment each other.

I bought this book secondhand, then got a second copy as I was always loaning it out. Then I gave a copy to a 16 year old student for Christmas. Someday she will be very financially well off using these basic principles and starting young.

Gives great insights as to how to simply make the most of your money. IE. 100k in bank gets taxed at income tax rate. 100K in Telstra in shares (in dividends) pays 30% tax (company tax rate): high income earners pay less tax with share dividends than bank interest.

It’s in laymans terms and simply opens ones eyes.

I am a 22 year old female who is about to graduate college with an engineering degree. I’ve worked extremely hard to minimize any student loans that I’ve had. And now will be facing the challenges of the financial adult world.

I have an aggressive loan payback plan. However I need to start looking at investing in more long-term money goals. This book was a huge help! It really gave me a better understanding of the financial world as a whole and is allowing me to best plan out my goals (using the baby steps of course)! Definitely not my first read of the Ramsey collection and definitely will not be my last.

I was looking for a book to be educated about my investments, bonds, money markets, index funds, HSA, 403B, IRAs, and Roth IRAs. It was recommended by your staff to read Complete Guide to Money. I was disappointed that there were only 20 pages of very basic knowledge.

The rest was geared toward those starting out or those who don’t have knowledge of budgets, saving and money. I’m 67, retired, have NO debt and a widow looking for knowledge to manage the investments left to me by my financially educated late husband.

This book while a very good book was not what I asked for. We learned this in the 90’s and lived by it but it has nothing I need at this stage in my life.

Know Yourself Know Your Money was very illuminating. I am ashamed to say it, but I am a 64 year old woman who has never harnessed her finances. After reading Rachel’s book I was able to recognize where some of my money dysfunction originated.

Finances were a mystery to me, stuff came with employment when you got a paycheck, you could buy what you wanted. Until I started asking myself the difficult questions I was okay with my financial ignorance.

Budgeting is still difficult, but I am attempting. I have paid off all debt except for my house. I have established the original $1000 emergency fund and I headed toward three months. I still have some money decision anxiety but when I read Rachel’s book I was able to identify multiple issues that I need to address.

But my anxiety is diminishing with every step I take. The one thing I have always had is the heart to give. I am thankful that Rachel’s approach was tender enough to keep me interested in doing the work.

My husband and I read this book about 12 years ago and stopped writing checks choosing to pay cash for everything we possibly could. I am reading it again because I am starting a minimalist journey and we are wanting to live with less, selling a lot of our STUFF at the local flea market.

we are in our late 50s and have paid off our mortgage and my Subaru outback. we have three 401ks and hope to retire in our early 60s so we may travel to Italy and Spain. we have never taken a real vacation to a special place like so many do.

we live in the finger lakes region of New York and take long weekend trips to Vermont, Maryland, Pennsylvania. we go on wine tastings, visit flea markets, and eat out only on special occasions. Please don’t think we are rich because we are not and have struggled.

I love to cook and we love our 900 sq. foot house in the woods. when the fire place is going and something good is cooking and I sit with a glass of wine reading a book such as this I want to tell anyone who is interested to read the book, make changes, and experience the fantastic feeling of being debt free.

I love this book. It changed my life by inspiring me to look at my money in a more creative way. By doing the exercises in the book, 13 years ago, I was able to rid my family of all debt. We paid off our house, cars, credit card balances within 3 years, and did this just when my spouse retired unexpectedly leaving us $40,000 less per year in income.

We never felt deprived during our less than 3 years paying off our debt. (Oh, it totaled a bit more than $37,000. ) Miraculously we have never had debt since. If we use credit, we pay at the end of every month.

What inspired me the most were the stories scattered throughout the book of individuals. If all I got was the information in the italicized individual stories, it would be enough. However, each page is packed with helpful ideas.

I decided to buy this book again, because I missed the one that I loaned out and never got back.

Got this book from the library and decided I had to own it. Great resource to refer to time and again. Especially helpful to dispel myths about money and give new insight into its meaning in your life.

“More than Just Making It” is an honest look at the financial struggles Erin and her family experienced in the past ten years. The book is a great blend of memoir and practical advice. My own family went through similar financial difficulty after my husband unexpectedly lost his job shortly after our first child was born.

I sincerely wish I had Erin’s encouragement and advice during that time period. While I was embarrassed that my husband and I, two college-educated adults, were struggling to make ends meet, I realized we needed help.

Much of Erin’s advice echos what I read in financial advice books at the time, but the difference in “More Than Just Making It” is that Erin speaks to the heart of those struggling financially. She encourages readers saying, “whatever the cause of our financial challenges, we all need grace to get through them.

Erin Odom, author of the new book More Than Just Making It, had a family financial crisis. This book tells the story of their hardships but also encourages the reader to endure their their own hardships through gratitude.

Erin, her husband and her children were a young middle class family. They were college graduates who were hoping to become missionaries when job loss forced them to move. Ultimately they had a house foreclosed upon and they declared bankruptcy.

I received an advanced copy of this book as part of being on the launch team. I was immediately intrigued by this book when I heard of it, because Erin has always been open about her family’s financial struggles and their experience using government assistance like the WIC program and food stamps.

Those are programs that, even though many people use them, it’s not necessarily common to actually hear about those experiences. But Erin didn’t just share her family’s struggles. She also shared practical tips and encouragement for those currently trying to “just make it” to move to “more than just making it”.

And she also gave advice for those who have been blessed, whether with money, or with things. Amidst a world of judgment and stereotypes, she encourages readers to look beyond what they may see on the surface because you don’t know someone else’s story.

Above all, though, Erin reminds readers that God provides. Throughout the whole book, from stories of when they had no money to when they were able to send their daughter to a school they didn’t think they’d be able to afford, Erin mentions all of the “kisses from Jesus”, the times God provided for them through other people just when they needed it.

I LOVE AOTR products. Even if you’re not into magic, if you love beautiful, earthy scents, I’d recommend this company. Fiery Wall of Protection oil smells strongly of cinnamon and earthy herbs. It’s what I’d imagine a sexy witch nestled in a moss-covered cabin in the woods would smell like.

The date on the back shows you when it was hand-bottled, and you can see a variety of herbs floating around. So the packaging itself is absolutely enchanting! I use this as perfume, and it lasts all day.

I’m also a little witchy, so I use it for spiritual purposes on occasion. Overall: this is a gorgeous perfume.

I bought the oil for my boyfriend as he was battling for years with family law court. I was skeptical but want to give the oil a try. The judge did listen and will give him his decision in a few days.

Well, he got a letter and the judge ruled in his favor. First time victory for him. He told me the oil works! Will continue to use the oil for the next one. My boyfriend also mentioned that the oil smells so good as he dabbed it on himself and the papers.
